“Normalization” is one of the big buzzwords of our era: we are constantly told we mustn’t normalize this or that. With the election of Donald Trump, liberals fretted that he would become normalized, but it’s interesting to note that the liberal and conservative strategy for dealing with Benito Mussolini after he became prime minister in 1922 was to normalize him. In fact, one could say that normalization was how Mussolini gained power in the first place: King Victor Emmanuel summoned him to form a government to avoid a violent coup during the March on Rome. The belief was that by channelling the Fascists into the constitutional system they would abandon violence and serve a constructive role. The old elite also thought they could use this stratagem to sideline the most fascist Fascists, the squadristi who often came from a “national syndicalist” background and envisioned for a social revolution along with a political takeover. While they may have hoped for a revolution, the squadristi beat up and killed Socialists and trades unionists at the behest of landowners and industrialists, so the establishment may be forgiven for thinking Fascism was really on the side of social order.

Quote
Why would US citizens develop a set of political values that favor the restriction or elimination of limits on the use of executive power -- by governors or presidents -- that very well could lead to harm to themselves and their families? A constitution exists to ensure equal treatment to all citizens and to establish equal liberties for all citizens; so why would some citizens favor authoritarian rule over constitutional protections? One possible motivation is the misplaced confidence that the strongman who emerges will naturally protect the interests of one's own group. But logic and history both suggest that all citizens benefit from constitutional and legal protections, and surrendering those for shortterm anxieties is a horrible mistake.

If anyone is curious, every country in orange is one that according the World Population Review fits into the definition of fascism as of this given moment. And their regulations are quite tight too — I personally think more countries fit into the definition.
Europe is nearly entirely orange.
Tumblr media
(CORRECTION — this map is of previous fascist countries. There is a reblog thread discussing this.)
the strauss-howe theory dictates history moves in a rough 80 year cycles — high, awakening, unraveling, crisis.
80 years ago was the crisis and wwii killed 75-85 million. roughly 3% of the worlds population at the time.
90 years ago the nazis won polls in germany with 43.9% of votes, putting an end to the weimar republic and initiating the crisis.
i am afraid. i live halfway across the world and i am afraid, not because australia is nothing more than a proxy state of the us, but because fascism doesn't keep itself in the neat little borders we've drawn up to divide country.
it is a disease and it spreads.
germany, italy, japan, brazil, china, portugal, romania, spain, slovakia, south africa, and other puppet states during the mid-20th century.
usa, russia, israel, afghanistan, china, türkiye, saudi arabia, iran, north korea, italy, finland, slovakia, hungary, croatia, and more now.
just last month, the liberal party (right wing) turned queensland from labour (centre-leftish) through imitation of trump and election promises to ban abortion. monkey see monkey do.
so thank you so much the trump voters, the 3rd party voters, the non-voters, the spoiled ballot voters. i hope you look on this world with pride knowing youve lit another cord to the ticking bomb.

From the page:
After three hours of oral arguments at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, only one thing is certain: If the justices want to blow up federal elections, they will have nothing to hide behind—not history, not logic, and certainly not the Constitution. The three lawyers defending democracy methodically dismantled the “independent state legislature” theory from every conceivable angle, debunking each myth, misreading, and misrepresentation deployed to prop it up. They bested the conservative justices who tried to corner them, identifying faulty reasoning and bogus history with devastating precision.
Those of us who’ve been ringing the alarm over this dangerous theory—and who’ve been disgusted by the campaign to drag it from the far-right fringe all the way to the Supreme Court—can take solace knowing that these capable lawyers exposed it as an utter fraud. This idea was at the center of Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election, so it was a relief to hear five justices sound deeply skeptical that it has any basis in the Constitution. It is far too early to celebrate the demise of the independent state legislature theory, since four justices have already endorsed it. But the skepticism it faced at arguments suggests that democracy has a fighting chance of survival.
The “independent state legislature theory” is a legal fantasy designed to allow state legislatures to elect Presidents rather than the citizens of the U.S. Where federal elections are concerned this “theory” would allow any State Legislature to violate its own State Constitution! This “theory” made an appearance in Bush vs. Gore. This “theory” was the linchpin in Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election (fake Electors). This “theory” presents a clear danger to constitutional democracy.
The timber of oral arguments on Wednesday suggested that this “theory” will fail in a five-to-four split ruling, but that outcome is far from certain. In truth this case should never have been brought before the Supreme Court, but here we are. How many more near-death moments can democracy survive?

Criminalizing pregnancy is not the goal: it is a start. Look for Loyalty Affidavits and Internal Passports for ALL citizens. Small government for the wealthy and authoritarian rule for the majority. Yup.
Tumblr media
Small government Republicans must be really upset. Not.
Conservative war on women is manifest. They will do whatever to attack, intimidate, or punish women regarding private issues.

And really, is anyone surprised? At this point any surprise exhibited by any citizen would be due to an excusable ignorance of what Elon Musk IS. So now that the man has publicly SHOWN us what he is perhaps folks will abandon Twitter and deprive his dumpster fire of the oxygen it needs to continue.
“We’re witnessing in real time what happens when a billionaire gets red-pilled. Elon Musk not only is demonstrating that he has no business taking over a corporation like Twitter, in which he has zero expertise or experience—taking the company into a steep financial nosedive—but also that he has been radicalized by conspiracist right-wing extremism, and so his vision of “free speech” is a recipe for freely spreading neofascist ideas and behavior and driving out democratic discourse in the process. It’s a plutocratic authoritarian’s wet dream—and a nightmare for democracy. Musk, who began his tenure at Twitter by retweeting far-right conspiracy theories about the attack on Paul Pelosi, isn’t just restoring the accounts of a long list of far-right trolls, QAnon conspiracy cultists, misogynists, and hatemongers, who are now free to do their thing on the platform—including spread their threats of genocide and mass murder. He’s also taking the advice of faux journalist Andy Ngo and other right-wing trolls to suspend the accounts of prominent left-wing and antifascist activists (who appear to have no recourse for reinstatement), making ineluctably clear that when Musk talks about “free speech,” the principle only applies to right-wing extremists. As one of his victims observed, he’s turning Twitter into Gab with crypto ads and a much larger user base—for now.”
— At the same time Musk opens doors to far-right trolls and conspiracists, leftist accounts suspended

GUYS.
If you are looking for something to fill the void in your book-loving heart while waiting for Alecto, I have a book for you. The vibes are different, but I think you will enjoy it because it has:
- Kids raised in a place more fucked up than the Ninth and child soliders
- Science magic
- Empires, theocracy (but with numbers to back it up), space facisim, (de)radicalization
- Mass murder
- Queer people, various levels of happiness
- Strong... Lebanese...
It's a dark story, an exploration of authoritarian systems, humanity, gender roles, and family, but it isn't hopeless. Or in other words: fascist teen girl learns the power of friendship and spacetime manipulation

Project 2025: The Fascist Plan For America
youtube
If you are planning on not voting please watch this. its long but goes through what Project 2025 is. and look up others, and the articles sourced
i can not express enough how much you NEED to vote and it HAS to be Biden. And once he wins, harass the FUCK out of him until hes scared but it has to be him
i am not one of those "vote blue no matter who" people. I am far left far from a liberal. I voted uncommitted because i couldnt stand the thought of voting for someone supporting a genocide. i mistakingly thought that was the final vote.
i thought back to trumps presidency. we got through it, we could do it again. i wanted a message sent that dems cant do what they want without consequences. We got through trump and we fought, it wasnt great, many people died- but its not the same. i didnt realize how different it would be. it is NOT the same with Project 2025
This will come off as exaggerating, fear mongering, over reacting etc. but watch the video. look up Project 2025 it is pure christo facisim nationalism. Watch her other videos from CPAC look at the people involved and the supporters. literal neo nazis. literal fascists. and they have had years to get ready for this.
and reblog and share
