Do they wear a watch? (NPMD)
Richie: Obviously we're starting with him, and yes, he does wear a watch. He used to have a sailor moon watch, a Pokémon watch, a few more anime, but now he just has a black and blue, waterproof digital watch, since those ones were too fragile (ie, people kept breaking them)
Ruth: She has a watch but it's broken. She wears it every day and constantly forgets it's broken.
Pete: Absolutely he does. He has a waterproof analog watch that he has to stare at for at least 30 seconds to read, but he does have it.
Steph: She doesn't have a watch, but she will yank Pete's wrist to read his.
Grace: She generally doesn't wear a watch, but she does wear one to church so that she doesn't have to pull her phone to check the time.
Max: No, but he for some reason keeps looking at his wrist as if he does. Like, he'll pull up his sleeve and everything, and then realise he doesn't wear a watch and has to pull his phone.
Shapiro: She absolutely wears a watch. No explanation needed.
Bailey: He used to wear a watch, but the strap broke after a rough kerfuffle.
Jason: He wants one but forgets to buy one
Kyle: He thinks watches are stupid
Brenda: She has a smart watch
Stacy: She thinks watches are ugly
Solomon: He wears a watch, and so does Miss Tesburger. They make sure they're synced up every week.

#FashionFriday for #DragonflyWeek :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. Unlined Summer Kimono (Hito-e) with Dragonflies and Stream Japan, Shōwa, c.1920–30s Printed silk, 60 1/4 × 51 in. (153 × 129.5 cm) 2. Meisen Summer Kimono with Dragonflies Japan, Shōwa, c.1940–45 Plain-weave silk warps with twisted dupioni silk wefts in unraveled ikat (hogushi-gasuri), 62 3/4 × 47 3/4 in. (159.4 × 121.3 cm) The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
"The dragonfly (tonbo)...is one of the oldest motifs in Japan, symbolic of patriotism, courage, and good fortune. Samurai warriors considered the dragonfly the victory insect because of its agility and perceived fearlessness. Thriving in watery rice fields, it was also believed to be a sign of a good harvest. Dragonflies appear in various art forms in Japan but became particularly prominent in the bold designs of early twentieth-century kimonos, reflecting the influence of the Western Art Nouveau movement. Their seasonal association made dragonflies appropriate for summer kimonos."

happy fabricator yuri friday reblog or comment with fabricator yuri. i'll go first. fabricator being summoned to zor's office and knowing that while this would mean trouble for anyone else, she's their favorite. the reason she doesn't have her own seat at the table is because she sits in theirs with them. everyone at zoraxis knows what she is. and she doesn't care.

Fashion Friday
It's been awhile since we've done a Fashion Friday post, but we're back at it with the French magazine La Mode! La Mode began in 1896 in Paris and was printed by Le Gérant : E. Durand. I was unable to find out much else about it, partially because its title was part of the titles of other French fashion magazines from the period—but we do know that the printers also printed Le Petit Journal, a popular daily newspaper.
This issue is no. 38 from September 21, 1923 and features a very fashionably dressed woman on the cover. The text at the bottom is an ad for the fabric dye brand Twink and says (translated from French): "Twink allows you to inexpensively dye your babies' pretty dresses." The issue also includes features on hats, coats, and one on the use of embroidered fabrics in interior design. There is also a supplement included with a design pattern (shown in the last image).
Most of the fashions included in this issue are in preparation for chilly fall weather, so let's let it inspire us to enjoy the warm sunny days of summer while we have them!

i was holding myself back from sharing this until it was Actually Finished, but it's been Weeks and the urge to prove that i wasn't just crying rewatching old barbie movies and doing commissions is too strong. please have this snippet of a piece that's actually not fanart! i'm trying my hand at the 'painting your problems' concept. As someone who has used art as an escape since childhood it's been pretty wild. Staring at my thoughts can be scary but drawing menacing looking ladies gives me courage.

It's Fine Press Friday!
For today’s Fine Press Friday post, our subject is Bound for the Goldfields, published by the Australia-based Wayzgoose Press in 1990 in an edition of 55 copies, another gift from the estate of book artist and collector Dennis Bayuzick. The original story was written by Charles Dickens for his weekly journal Household Words in June 1855 and the Wayzgoose edition was designed and illustrated with linocuts and wood engravings by Wayzgoose founder Mike Hudson (1939-2021). Ours is a review copy, meaning that this specific book was originally sent out to someone to be reviewed for publication before it was actually distributed.
According to the title page, the story told in this book is a “true account of a journey from Melbourne to Castlemaine by a carrier of supplies to the goldfields.” A journey like this was long and harrowing, as described in the book’s text, which is printed vertically as part of the grassy landscape, and the wood/linocuts provide an excellent visualization of where the traveler physically is within the story being told. Readers will see many trees as the subject walks through forests, sees the night sky, and even the destination of the traveler as he arrives: the tents of those working in the gold fields.
This book was hand-set by Hudson's long-time partner and Wayzgoose Press co-founder Jadwiga Jarvis (1947-2021) in 14pt Monotype Baskerville and was printed on a Western Proof Press using Mohawk Letterpress Paper. Mike Hudson Bound the edition, 46 copies of which were in printed hessian fabric with leather thongs, as shown here.
