Strawberry Field gates. Nikon F65. Expired Kodak 400.

Strawberry Field was a children's home operated by The Salvation Army up until 2005. It was opened to the public in 2019 and now consists of a shop, cafe and training centre.

The gates which stand on Beaconsfield Road have been a tourist attraction and place of pilgrimage for some years due to the Beatles song.

When io visited I was unable to go into the new facility due to a private function so all i could photograph was the gates.

10. what was your first concert?

100 gecs with machine girl opening (at the masquerade!)

16. have you ever been in the first row for a concert? if not, what was the closest seat you’ve ever had?

i was pit for the machine girl part of the gecs show, but decided to head back a little for the actual show (my sister was a littttllleee unprepared 😭)

27. name a song that you wish was longer

oh SO MANY! but lately i've been looping F65 by .idk. (or IDK, he changes the way he stylizes it) and while so many songs are incredibly strong, it suffer with the same thing as a lot of recent albums... it's Short. the songs are Short. ok not true there's a 7 minute song in there but it's an outlier. maybe Georgetown off of that album? it's really short... 1 minute 23 seconds lol. but maybeeee. ok so Mr. Policeman to Pinot Noir is one of the strongest parts of that album -- i think there's a real reason that those are the two songs that got music videos for that album (CHECK THEM OUT BTW!! I WOULD LINK THEM IF I COULD!!) but i feel making Paperchaser longer and flow better after Pinot Noir would be so good and strengthen the whole album!!

I have been a fan of The Lemonheads ever since I saw them on The Word playing a cover of Simon and Garfunkels Mrs Robinson. Since then I have seen them twice. This is the second time I have seen Evan Dando solo (the last time being when he played 2003 Leeds Festival in support of Baby I'm Bored.)

My initial plan was to go to Leeds and combine the gig with a city break. However the tickets sold out and I decided to have go to Stoke. When i got the the venue Mr Dando himself was outside on a skateboard! He obliged me with a selfie.

The gig itself was shambolic and chaotic but entertaining. It is obvious that his voice is not what it was and whilst he does claim to be "clean" his behaviour was at time erratic. However he was in a room of die hard fans who lapped it up. He even finished in the middle of the crowd singing Frank Mills acapella.

I feel I must say a few words about the venue. The sound was excellent, the beer reasonably priced (£5.50 for a pint of Beavertown Neck Oil) and the staff friendly. I would go to see a band at The Sugarmill again.
