Happy Birthday Champ❤️‍🩹
Jimmy is and will be my favorite driver. He was the best driver that the world has ever seen and there won’t be anyone as good as him, I’m sure about that.
Apart from a really successful driver (not only in F1) he was a quiet, kind and polite Scottish farmer. He didn’t like to be known as the world’s best racer (although he was), he preferred to be known as the farmer he was, just a normal man.
Thanks to him, I have found what I love the most, Formula 1: it’s history, the engineering, these cars and circuits. Now the F1 is completely different from what it was when Jimmy raced, but he is still inspiring me to become an engineer, where I could be closer to him.
Now he would had been 88 years old, so all we can do is wish him the best birthday, although he is not here anymore.
You will be forever in our hearts Jimmy, you were a great man and I’m so proud of being able to say that you are my favorite driver.
I will miss you forever although I haven’t know you, you are inspiring me all the time and I couldn’t be more grateful for finding you.
You will be always on my mind champ💚

the fact that in f1 there is a sizable subset of classic f1 fans who blog about their 1950s and 1960s faves and so on on here…….honestly inspirational. I love not moving on<3

This lesser known Ferrari 312 P was designed and created for Ferrari’s 1969 return to the World Sportscar Championship to compete in the group 6 prototype class. It had four valves per cylinder actuated by four overhead camshafts. Fuel injection system was sourced from Lucas in England. In endurance trim, the 3.0-liter unit produced around 420 hp at 9800 rpm (by comparison, 1969 specification Formula 1 engine was good for 436 hp at a mesmerizing 11,000 rpm). The V12 was mated to a five-speed gearbox that had also been developed in-house. Only 3 created.
Trivia:- “P" in 312P stands for "prototypo" and the "312" indicates the engine displacement (3 litres) and “12”are the number of cylinders.
