WARNING: ABANDONMENT, PROSTITUTION, DEPRESSION

[ BACKGROUND... ]

It all started with a small child boy crying by himself on the train, left all alone with no one but his small sock doll to comfort him. He hadn’t remembered much, only that his mother had told him to take a nap on the cool seat of the train…but when he woke up…his mother had vanished. The police had held him for days trying to reunite a child with his mother but soon the realization of abandonment had been shown and poor little Dong Hoon was left at the steps of an orphanage.

As a small toddler grew into a young boy, Dong Hoon had had learned to bury his feelings of being abandoned and unloved deep within him, masking his pain with humor and overly dramatic actions. Within school and his time at the orphanage, he had become the class clown, someone who always made the other kids laugh even if it was by making a fool of himself, doing his best to hide the fact that he was dying inside. He was loved by all his friends but yet was always left behind as he watched every kid in the orphanage get adopted except him, the feeling of never being loved always haunting him.

Once a young boy grew to a young man, Dong Hoon left the orphanage on his own, casting the dream of being part of a loving family out the door after having enough of seeing everyone leave and him being left behind and unchosen. The young man decided that life on the streets was better then torture of waiting to be looked upon and accepted, it was better to live with his won rules and live by his own terms then to wish for love and care. If he was gonna be treated like he wasnt wanted then he was going to live like someone who doesnt need to be wanted, and thus a street rat was born.

L I F E O N T H E S T R E E T S

Dong Hoon had become a homeless man, but a homeless man with pride. He didn’t beg for food, he didn’t live in a box or live like a cliche of an image that people thought homeless people lived. He worked any job he could get, living off of food banks and shelter homes with soup kitchens for the needy. He made any abandoned place his sleeping ground and only used his money for showers and clean clothes once in a while. He didn’t need fancy things or a nice place to live in, he had pushed those desires out the window long ago.

Eventually, the homeless kid had built a reputation among the street life, gaining the nickname “Haha” for his special talent of always keeping a smile on his face and a laugh to give even though life was practically kicking his ass everyday and giving little mercy. He didn’t care, or at least he tried not to show it.

Y O U G O T T A D O W H A T Y O U G O T T A D O

Haha lived by his own rules but that didn’t stop every gang in the city of Seoul to use him as they pleased, always being forced to do small tedious and dirty jobs in exchange of his life or money to continue living. It had become the one thing he hated while living as a street rat, forcing himself to let his pride be beaten by any gang member that decided to use him. Haha was known to be a man who had little fear and since the street rat had nothing to lose it was easier for him to do jobs that put his life on the line, and he truly would do any job if it meant more money in his pocket, something that Haha had grown to hate in himself; The only weakness he had.

Any job that put on the table for him he would grab and perform out flawlessly, any job except one. Prostitution was the only job he would only force himself to perform if it was his only and last resort and sometimes that last resort would creep up…but you gotta do what you gotta do in order to keep living. However, Dong Hoon never let it destroy him, no matter what obstacles he had to face or torture he had to suffer, Haha would always keep his smile on and give a laughter to anyone who needed it. He wasn’t wanted by anyone, but that was okay, because he was wanted by himself and it was enough…..for now.

[ BEHAVIOR... ]

Haha is known to be a jokester, the annoying little brat, and a kind hearted friend. He masks his pain and depression with a smile and his fear with a laugh. He can brighten up any gloomy place with his forced positive attitude, making him a favorite among the shelters and soup kitchens. He isnt afraid to stand up for himself and talk back to people in authority. He will do anything to get himself out of a tight situation, wether it being the evil mastermind or the scaredy cat depending on the situation at hand. He is very good at playing tricks on people he hates and enjoys annoying them. However, he is a kind person to anyone who shows kindness themselves, even giving up his own food to someone who is more in need of it then him.
