Now that a teaser trailer has dropped in honor of Star Wars Celebration 2023 kicking off today, fans have obtained more footage of what we are going to look forward to this August. Considering the live celebration premiering on YouTube started at 5 AM where I live, I definitely had to stop myself from screaming with glee to not wake up my family. I've been a Rebels and Clone Wars fan since the pandemic, and the lore is captivating. Let's take a look at the characters set to make appearances in the series.

Rosario Dawson returns as Ahsoka Tano, previously playing her role in The Mandalorian, which was the character's live-action debut. We see Ahsoka at the beginning of the teaser in a place that is yet to be known, but it is clear that she senses something coming, and it's definitely going to be big. Ahsoka continues to protect herself in this galaxy, searching for answers.

Natasha Liu Bordizzo plays the live-action debut of Sabine Wren, and I adore her look! Normally, fans see Sabine with a very short cut, but her constant re-dying of her hair is nothing new. This time, we see her with long wavy hair with shades of magenta and orange, and I'm pretty sure I see some red and purple in there. Sabine appears to be staying on Lothal, which was Ezra's home. What she's been up to, that is to be seen.

Our beloved duo, Hera Syndulla and her brave droid, Chopper! The last we saw them in animation, we got to see a younger version of Hera in Season 2 of Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Here, the two make their live action debut, with Mary Elizabeth Winstead playing the role of Hera.

Considering the Rebels finale (sorry for anyone who hasn't seen the show, feel free to skip this part if you haven't!), we know she had a child who carries the blood of her late lover and Ezra's Jedi Master, Kanan Jarrus, who had passed in an explosion after saving Hera from the Imperials.

We have yet to learn who will be playing the young Jacen Syndulla, or if he will be making an appearance at all.

We all know the woman on the left to be Mon Mothma, a senator who fights against the Empire, played by the elegant Genevieve O'Reilly. The woman on the right was first seen in the same episode of The Mandalorian that Ahsoka had made her live-action debut in. Morgan Elsbeth, played by Diana Lee Inosanto, was seen ruling a town and facing off against Ahsoka, leading to Ahsoka defeating her. Her role in this series is yet to be learned of, but it most likely will answer how Ahsoka had known her before this.

When I first saw these characters, the first thought that went to my head was, "Are they inquisitors??" Actor and actress Ray Stevenson and Ivanna Sakhno will be playing these roles. Stevenson will play Baylan (left), and the name of the woman is yet to be revealed. I'm curious to hear more about these new characters and what purpose they will have in the series.

IT'S HIM! Since the day Rebels came to an end, fans all miss Ezra Bridger, questioning where he went and how he is. The hashtag, #ezracomehome, became very popular. This is just a hologram, but there are theories that he will likely come back in the series. How? We'll see. Ezra's live-action debut will be played by Eman Esfandi.

"The heir of the Empire." That line gave me goosebumps. It's been a long time since we've seen Grand Admiral Thrawn on the screens, and now he will be making his live-action debut in Ahsoka. Last in The Mandalorian, Ahsoka questions Morgan Elsbeth, asking "Where is Grand Admiral Thrawn?" Ever since, fans have been coming back to that line, knowing that Thrawn will probably be coming back, and now, we'll get to see his role in this world. The person who will be playing the role of Thrawn is still unknown, and we have still not gotten a proper look at him. Fans will be awaiting the news and more of his appearances.

When Ezra became lost to space during the finale, so was Thrawn. So how has he returned?

Here, we see Ahsoka facing off against what appears to be an Inquisitor. In another part of the trailer, we see her face off against Stevenson's character. There will definitely be a lot of action happening in the series, and Ahsoka's fights are always something looking forward to watching.

According to sources, Hayden Christensen will be reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker, although we have not seen any footage of him in this series just yet. Anakin played a vital role in Ahsoka's life as her Jedi Master while she was in the Jedi Order. In Rebels, Ahsoka faces off against Darth Vader, realizing that it is Anakin and hearing his voice again as he tries to kill her. Ahsoka has been through a lot since her time as a Jedi and on the run since Order 66, and it does not stop there.

There are many questions resurfacing with this teaser, but there will definitely be more footage coming before Ahsoka makes it's debut. Will surely be going on a Rebels rewatch before the series comes out. If you want to see more of Ahsoka before the show, consider watching Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the episodes she appears in in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, and her episodes in Star Wars: Rebels. I can't wait to see the loth cats again, as they were completely adorable in Rebels.

Ahsoka is set to start on Disney+ in August 2023.

time for a sneak ramble at... well, let's just say i'm adding to an existing fic idea and fleshing it out into a wider universe. as you can see from my blog today, i'm finally finishing rebels for the first time and having a complete breakdown, lol, so that's my preface for — canon denial au is now not just a rebelcaptain fic, but also a kanera one. let's just say the force might've spared jyn and cassian off the beach on scarif, there might've been more to kanan's death than met the eye, and —

honestly, i just started thinking about how these characters would all interact with each other, and with the characters from the original trilogy, so i wanted them all around through the years after the battle of yavin and through endor and beyond. like, i think jyn and kanan would have a lot to connect on, being people whose lives were ruined by war and being initially reluctant to become involved because of their past trauma, hera and cassian is another interesting one because they're so Devoted To The Rebellion but they're both on a quest to learning how to balance being people again through that, jyn befriends hera and by consequence chopper who's now her droid bff (imagine those shenanigans lol), etc etc

and just, you know. something something rebellions are built on hope

I do but not often, partially because of the ace part of me that doesn't entirely get it from an emotional perspective lolol. I'm most comfortable with F/F but can reasonably (I hope lol) write F/M.

What’s your all-time favorite ship?

idk if I could choose just one !! part of me wants to say it would be a Stargate ship like Sam/Janet because Stargate is always the ultimate series for me but I feel like I'm biased bc I'm currently obsessed with them again. If this was the me of like ten years ago I would have said Swan Queen which is what I have written the most for but god OUAT and I are forever sworn enemies I just want to bully that series the way it bullied me. I'm going with Sam/Janet just because currently I would die for them.

What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I have a really good Friends with Benefit AU for Ivanova/Talia that I really want to finish and get out. A Soulmate AU for my bois Ted/Trent. A Heroes AU for Sam/Janet. Nothing has been published but I know they're waiting to be finished.

but for real, funsies stuff is my fave. Also AUs, I excel at going in depth in my thoughts for them.

What are your writing weaknesses?

the serious stuff/angst tbh I just want to imagine it I don't want to put it into wordssss

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I enjoy when there are translations in the end notes for when I'm reading it but I also will otherwise put it into a translate service. I guess when writing I will keep it to simple phrases I know more than like full sentences? I'm not sure I have a strong enough opinion on this tbh

First fandom you wrote for?

zoowemama 100% was stargate - it was terrible and I'm so glad I have improved since because it was purely self indulgent but I think my first like ten fics were stargate, with maybe a twilight one or two.

Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

my extremely self-indulgent THG AU with Hayffie in the stargate universe. I just wish the stargate universe was as popular of an AU for other fandom works but alas that is what I get for falling in love with 90s scifi !! but this was so much fun to write and put easter eggs in and it was one of the first ones I wrote purely for me and less about what amount of hits/kudos/reviews/etc.

3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?

objection, your honor for sure!! it's lowkey my biggest project this year, and it was a bit scary at first because I don't know anything about law (which I'm sure shows) but I'm still happy with how it turned out and I'm glad I decided to go for it anyway!

5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?

copied from my previous answer: probably tragedy in your blood. you know because of the whole major character death thing. and in a way objection, your honor too because while I didn't necessarily think it would flop, I also didn't expect such an overwhelming positive response and it makes me really happy <3

18. The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?

I mostly write Jyn and Cassian who don't give me so much trouble anymore buuuut.... I think Kerri who I used in my modern AU. but since we only see her as a child, I had to basically invent what she's like as an adult and I really didn't have a clear vision like I did with the OC I made up for Cassian's sister in previous years. I'm still not sure I have a clear vision of how I imagine her but I'm making do

2. favorite canon thing about this character?

i really love katniss's canon arc! how she becomes more aware of what's happening to her and what the machinations of politics are, and through that finds a way to play by no one else's rules but her own. i also love the portrayal of her trauma, and how she's allowed to be unpleasant and raw in a way that female characters in fiction often still aren't. she is truly one of my favorite characters of all time.

5. what's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

honestly, the soundtrack to the first hunger games movie is still iconic; they really did a great job curating songs for that, so i'd say really any of them, but especially — safe and sound by taylor swift ft the civil wars

12. what's a headcanon you have for this character?

katniss is definitely into girls; look at the way she talks about madge and johanna, and in this essay i will..... i think bi and demisexual would be my sexuality headcanon for her, honestly.

3. least favorite canon thing about this character?

honestly, it's the fact that we haven't gotten a lot of canon fleshing out jyn's relationship with saw or the years she spent with him. this is so important, and it's so interesting, and even the one spinoff book we got (rebel rising, i curse you) really didn't get into this as much as i wanted it to. there's enough material here to merit an entire prequel series, but i know the mouse will never give it to me, and i hate this everyday.

4. if you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

oh, good question! jyn tends to fit well into other sci-fi properties when i au her into them (thus far, i've done pacific rim and hunger games), and she's got potential to be put into a spy story. i mean, then there's also the notion of put her in some stupid rom com where nothing bad happens to her except some stupid drama because she's already had enough horrible shit happen to her in her life, there's that for me too.

8. what's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

ugghh, when jyn is characterized as Angry Girl and nothing else. yes, anger is a lot of how she deals with her trauma and she has a tendency toward it, but when i talk about takes like this, they just don't really give any thought to the complexity of her anger. furthermore, they don't take the other sides of her into account, and they fail to take into account how intelligent she is. she isn't just someone who mindlessly punches her way out of life; she's extremely aware of her environment and she's constantly doing calculations, and a lot of what we see from her are deliberate attempts to get a rise out of people. just, yeah... i really hate when those dimensions go away.

5. what inspires you to write

as someone with ADHD and a very chaotic brain in general, i can truly give you no rhyme or reason for my writing inspiration, which is part of why i don't promise regular updates LMAO music does it a lot, though, or just... random bouts of hyperfocus, or i just start thinking about something and i don't stop thinking about it until it's down on the page.

9. a passage from a WIP

i currently do not have access to where i keep my fan fics, since i try to separate my work and home life as much as possible, so you'll get something i jotted down into my notes app in two seconds literally just now (which is why this will need some editing eventually):

When Draven says, "Faulty intelligence," it isn't a comfort or an excuse, nor is it a point of blame — it just is. There's only room to consider that, what is and what isn't; there's only room to consider facts. Only room to consider what separates the truth from the noise, and to acknowledge that those efforts often fail.

There's no room to linger, either, in such failure. The Empire never stops, and so neither do they.

Cassian knows this as instinctively as he breathes. Faulty intelligence; time to find more and better, and move on. After a curt nod, he's out of Draven's office on a pivot of his heel, headed down the corridor and toward the hangar with purpose.

It would just be more convenient if the images still haunting him behind his eyes managed to know the same.
