ezra going from being uncomfortable because he “didn’t do anything” after a tarkintown citizen thanks him for food, and not wanting to help the wookiees because it would mean sticking his neck out too far, and “who does that?”, why would he “risk his life for a bunch of strangers?” in the pilot; to sacrificing himself to an unknown fate to stop thrawn, with no second thought for his own life, but doing it simply because lothal is his home and those are his people. and he ends up saving them all and liberating them from the empire. and it is truly one of the best character arcs i’ve ever seen

As a Star Wars fan, yes I wanna talk about the intricacies of the Jedi order, the mandalorian civil wars, etc.

But more so I wanna talk about how Lothal is so obviously an agricultural haven of a planet. So much importance on farming and animal husbandry that the imperial academy there apparently had their own nerf herds like?? Like you know Lothal has something like 4-H which teaches kids and anyone about agriculture and advancements in farming. Imagine little Ezra was apart of it and he got to take care of a little nerf calf. This is the Star Wars stuff I want to talk about most

thinking about caleb being struck with this sense of recognition when he sees depa in the bacta tank. about the way he’s drawn to her. and then after he leaves, she wakes up from her 6 month coma—pulled from it by this connection they share through the force. like he was meant to be her apprentice, like they were meant to find each other.

and to parallel, the way that ezra can hear the force singing to him, nudging him to look, look - to see what's right in front of him! and when he sees kanan, recognizes that kanan is what he's being drawn to, that's when kanan turns around. (recognition of self through the other).

the force is drawing them together, and has been long before ezra and kanan ever laid eyes on each other. because kanan tells hera later that even before they knew ezra, they were drawn to lothal. that no matter what happens, they always end up back on lothal.

like kanan was meant to go there. like he was meant to find ezra, in the same way that he found depa.

God I am so sick of people who only watched Clone Wars and skimmed Rebels watching Ahsoka and asking why Sabine is so obsessed with Ezra and acting like her turning back was some sort of character development, when one of the core parts of her character is giant abandonment issues.

Sabine has watched her family turn their backs on her, Ketsu leave her to die, the other members of the Ghost crew falling away for one reason or another, losing her family, and then Ahsoka ditching her for being sad about it. She has spent over half her life watching the people she loves leave her behind, and she would never do that to someone else. Let alone to Ezra, who she bonded with over also having abandonment issues and who was only able to leave in the first place because he counted on her to bring him back.

It's not about romantic feelings or priorities. It's about the fact that all she's ever wanted was someone to come back for her, and when she's on the other end of that decision, there's no scenario where she fails them the way everyone else failed her.
