when not at home, it was a safe bet that you could find ezra at the hidden marigold. something about the restaurant was almost too inviting, and she knew everyone by first name, often greeting them as soon as she stepped inside. the consequences she faced, however, was that her diet consisted of chips, salsa, and guacamole. most would argue that she couldn't survive off of those things alone, but ezra would argue that she could, and she'd do it proudly. sitting at a table with julie now, ezra gently shoved the basket towards her friend, eyeing it almost suspiciously. "get these away from me," she teased, making an X with her fingers. "y'all make them with magic, i swear."

"you're usually right, yes, but in this instance you're wrong. i'm a face in the crowd, and i really don't mind that i am. it lets me feel my big feelings without anyone noticing." but even as she said it, ezra knew it wasn't true. she had several people honed in on her at any given time, and while she did her best not to let any of her cracks peek through, she knew they had magnifying glasses to prove otherwise. "i will consider suggesting making it a working lunch. i feel like he works just as much as i do, which is really rich considering how often i get scolded by people for working." ezra paused, finally flashing kyra a smile. "but just know, i'm not asking him on a date. you all have to keep dealing with me being perpetually single."

"Mmm, you are free to think that," Kyra started, cocking her head to the side in thought. "But in the meantime, I'm gonna continue believing that it would, in fact, be a big deal. And I'm usually right about these things." If it weren't for the fact that Ezra was one of her best friends, and had been since they were in high school together, she might not have known about her feelings for her editor. But as it stood, they were best friends, and she did know, and while she also knew it probably wasn't responsible to encourage it, she was happy to ignore that. "Next time you're due for a meeting with him, you should suggest making it a working lunch; or better yet, make it drinks. Drinks can still be totally professional. I meet with creatives all the time over drinks."

Gargh I genuinely wish I liked this show more - I like the returning characters, I loved all the intriguing hints of new lore stuff, aesthetically it looked fantastic... The casting was mostly perfection. I could even (mostly) put aside my increasing annoyance at post-Lucas-Star War's increasingly negative stance on the jedi that seems to be influenced by the fans who were adults when the Prequels/90s films came out who insist that those films were all about how the jedi were evil actually, when... No seriously those films were aimed at 12 year olds how did the very basic genocide is bad actually message fly over their heads so collectively?

​But ye gods I really felt the whole, Filoni's been working on 20 minute episodes his whole career with this one. 

I think the thing that properly tipped me over from, I'm enjoying this show, but it's frequently frustrating, because I am unfortunately a fan with opinions... into no, this thing is just frustrating as the finale rolled to its extremely predictable end that he'd not so much done an Empire ending, as promised, yet again, to answer the questions he'd been posing throughout next time... Only next time is hardly guaranteed, as sadly epitomised by the waste of Ray Stephenson's rather intriguing character - let alone the way both Claudia Black and Wes Chatham were essentially one step above being glorified extras.

Eh I liked Mando S3 and even BoBF I adored Andor and Kenobi - I'm hardly impartial. I even quite like Ahsoka for what it was, rather than allowing my sheer annoyance at what it wasn't get me too enraged at all the George Lucas never implied that moments with his worldbuilding - stated very publicly to be the opposite to Filoni's takes several times.

I loved the new galaxy, the Purrgils, getting to see the Rebels gang again, most of the Baylan and Shin stuff and Claudia Black getting to be a terrifying Nightmother, the Kintsugi troopers, and the extremely blatant Stargate type worldbuilding can I copy your homework stuff. Even Huyang in live action, as frustrating as the constant jedi-negging by proxy was... Ezra was perfect. Love the little crab people and seeing Chopper, as toned down for live action as he was.

But Filoni, Dave, Hat-Man, please, if you're going to do glacial and epic mysteries that end on an Empire style cliffhanger at least give us some reassurance that you have a plan and know how all the plot-threads are going to go? And that your worldbuilding is in fact internally consistent actually and not just based on vibes with some degree of yeah this does have coherence... The occassional utterly incoherent aside, for you to go oh yeah, the New Republic are all fucking terrible actually, as bad as the space nazis actually, moments were not reassuring. And in the hands of a different writer I'd have been fascinated by the Sabine getting the force stuff... But I really sincerely do not trust you with this.

You keep leaving extremely important character and worldbuilding moments off-screen, not even summed up, just stated in a sentence then rapidly glossed over. With excruciating lengths of time given to portentious dialogue and incoherent ramblings about how the jedi deserved their own genocide actually.

No? Too much to ask? One and a half plot-threads proved too much to keep spinning..?

Of which, admittedly James SA Corey/David Abraham/Ty Franck you are not you could barely keep one plot thread going coherently let alone the half-dozen or so they kept spinning all the way through.

Actually, no, you know what. Fuck it. This has annoyed me enough that I am going to go off and watch Wes Chatham not be utterly wasted in a glorified extra role, in a sci-fi series featuring mysterious rings and huge conspiracy theories by corporate and fascistic government powers alike fuelled by greed and capriciousness but above all about humanity overcoming.

At least that one doesn't flanderise its own characters and worldbuilding for the rule of cool, and the at times seemingly glacial (but not actually) very deliberately paced plot actually serves a purpose that comes together into something spectacular.

Its that or Farscape to wash the bad taste out. But that's another property heavy on the evil space fascists who never quite seem to get an in-universe comeuppance.

in front of ezra james sat the manuscript for her next novel. it wasn't edited, and it was still raw to its core with mistakes and flubs, but it was finished. her editor had only asked for two chapters, but after three sleepless nights and a temporary break in writer's block, she had produced the next thing she was ready to release to the world. and there was only one person she was ready to share it with.

"i have something i want you to see," she spoke softly, her hands tapping against the stack of pages in front of her before she slid them forward to sit in front of misha. "it's probably not good, and you're gonna catch a lot of stupid shit, but i figured you might want to read it?"

Kids. It had never been on the table for them. In the few years since they first met, both had made it very clear how they felt about adding to their family and fortunately, being on the same page of ‘four legged additions only’ made their life easy. That was, however, until today. She hadn’t even considered the possibility, they took the usual precautions and had not been trying, but naturally, she knew that it wasn’t a fool-proof system. She just hadn’t expected the test she bought to come back positive, nor did she expect him to come home early and find it in the waste basket before she had chance to bring it up with him. 

“That’s not what I’m saying and you know it.” Mira replied, the air between them almost able to be sliced with a knife as she stared at him across the room. His question disappointed her quite a bit, somewhat because he did not wish to go, but mainly because of the eye candy comment. He had never been that in her eyes and she hoped that he was aware of that; maybe it was the frustration talking, who knew? “This wasn’t exactly something that I wanted to just talk about over the phone, I didn’t know you were going to come by the house early. It deserves a proper discussion but there’s no time for it right now. If you don’t want to come tonight, fine. I’ll tell Dan that you’re not feeling well and that’ll be that. I want you there, but it’s your call.” With a small sigh, she lowered herself onto the bed so that she could pull her heels on with ease, averting her gaze from him as she allowed him to consider what he wanted.

"You're going to plan an elaborate beach wedding with a string quartet and fireworks, aren't you?" James chuckled. Ezra was always the more extroverted and exuberant of the two of them, but he wouldn't have it any other way. Were it not for him approaching him so certainly, he feared they would have missed one another again. "Well, I've grown up a fair bit, or I like to think anyway." He squeezed his arm, a wide smile on his face as he nodded. "I want to know everything. Every single thing you've planned for us, and we'll make it happen."

"I believe the phrase is third time a charm darling, but it doesn't matter." Ezra quickly brushed away the comment as he simply enjoyed being the other man's embrace again. "I'm sorry to burst your perfect romantic bubble but considering how you've chosen a wife over me we're certainly getting married. I want an elaborate celebration to make up for the years." To hear the other swear made him chuckle as his hands pressed against his back. "My goodness you've become quite saucy since the last time we were together. I like it, shows growth." He grinned turning his head to softly kiss his cheek. "Everyone is going to know we're together. You have no idea the plans I have for us. I've had the time to concoct them in my mind all these years."

Earthlings, we come in peace! Strange things are afoot in Roswell, New Mexico, and it isn’t just the smell of the Crashdown Café after dark. Reports have been filed all over claiming to have experienced strange flashing lights in the sky, and the owner of Puhlman’s Ranch has been stumbling across some very strange looking circles in his fields. The conspiracy theorists are running rife with ideas and explanations, waving around supposed evidence of alien activity and ranting to the locals with colanders balanced precariously upon their heads. Whether the extraterrestrial activity is merely juvenile hijinks or something more, there are clues to be had all over town to the strange goings on; this month, ensure that your muse’s eyes are trained on the sky. You don’t want to miss a thing.

Well that shut him up, of course before James managed to upturn his lips in a longing almost-smile. "We always were an explosive pair." He managed in a wistful voice. How many times had they apologised to one another? "What does that mean? 'All things considered.' Did you expect me to be some other way?" It had somehow felt like a lifetime since he had last seen Ezra's face, and yet mere moments since he saw him walk away.

"You never do James, that's the thing. It just happens and the rest of us are responsible for making sure we calm you down." Ezra snapped unable to stop himself from returning the same energy he had received earlier this evening. "Now it's my turn to apologize," he sighed unsure of how to navigate this conversation. "I am well, you appear to be doing the same. Which isn't surprising all things considered."

The MCU version of what's happening to the DCEU

For this to work we must figure the MCU cast and character equivalent to the DCEU. Robert Downey Jr/Iron Man = Ben Affleck/Batman, Chris Evans/Captain America = Henry Cavill/Superman, Chris Hemsworth/Thor = G*l G*dot/Wonder Woman. Ignoring Ruffalo, Renner and Johansson temporarily because I wouldn't compare any of them to Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher and Ezra Miller just yet, lets say that James Rhodes was added to the Avengers roster so that Don Cheadle/War Machine = Ray Fisher/Cyborg.

so lets say that the MCU was in the Phase 1 and its first Avengers movie is about to be released. Due to a myriad of reasons however, the first Avengers movie doesn't do too well critically and at the box office and its plans for sequels and future character spinoffs are suddenly up in the air. Following the Avengers movie, sequels for Iron Man and Thor come after but Iron Man's future at Marvel Studios is suddenly in peril. If Robert Downey Jr. had immediate personal issues and experienced the same heavy studio inference, delays and meddling producers for Iron Man 3 just like Ben Affleck did with The Batman, then according to the outcome, Iron Man 3 would've been scrapped and Robert Downey would publicly step down from the role and movie. Iron Man would have then be relaunched into a solo universe separate from the MCU and subsequently recast with a different, younger actor altogether.

Next is Chris Hemsworth and Thor 2: The Dark World. If the equivalent to this actor and movie is G*l G*dot and Wonder Woman 1984, then not much changes happen here. According to critics however, the movie's tone is adjusted to be more lighter than the first and because of the plot, Thor is now a r*pist all of a sudden, just like in Wonder Woman 1984, but there's not much public controversy about it. It gets mixed reviews accordingly, though fan reception is not great.

Next is Chris Evans and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. If the equivalent to this actor and movie is Henry Cavill and the next Superman movie. But just like Henry Cavill and his character, Captain America never gets an official sequel announced due to the first Avengers movie doing so poorly, so say goodbye to any remaining plot threads, further character development and official appearances for Steve Rogers. There's eventually a scheduled cameo appearance for Chris in Ant Man (2015), just like Henry for Shazam (2019) but for some reason, scheduling conflicts or lack of proper payment, Chris can't film it and the headless body of Captain America appears instead.

So while all of this is happening, there was supposed to be solo films for War Machine and Black Widow too. What happened to them? Well, if the actor and character equivalent to Don Cheadle/War Machine is Ray Fisher and Scarlett Johansson/Black Widow is Ezra Miller/The Flash, then we can map both of those accordingly as well. If Don Cheadle had experienced the same racism and abuse on set of the first Avengers (2012) by the hands of Kevin Fiege the way Ray Fisher went through on Justice League (2017) by Geoff Johns , then the War Machine solo movie is quietly scrapped while Don Cheadle battles being blackballed, blacklisted and slandered in the media by Marvel Studios for years for speaking out what happened. War Machine was also listed to star in Black Widow but Don was fired from that movie too with no plans in development to feature him ever again.

Just like the Flash film, Black Widow was in development hell for years. Directors came and went with no actual start date to film. Eventually a director is hired and by the grace of god, Robert Downey Jr. is also slated to star in the film as Iron Man, just like Ben Affleck will with his Batman. However, spoilers and spoilers are leaked into the world and the plot of Black Widow is revealed: Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man is killed off in and replaced by an older version of Iron Man who hasn't been seen in 30 years and the plot of Black Widow has the solo purpose of soft-rebooting the MCU to fix in the older Iron Man's universe and Chris Evans' Captain America will also be retconned out of existence.
