I was rewatching librarians and realised that when Baird mentions Ezekiels other file, the others aren't around, which means she must have vaguely mentioned it again in front of or at least near the other LITs before they ask him about him in the truth chamber scene
#also the way that ezekiel lets cassandra tell all her deepest darkest secrets to him to keep the door open to him is soooo#like its so them#ezekiel doesnt like sharing things about himself#especially not SECRETS#and cassandra has more dark secrets than youd expect and ezekiel is unphased about this information#even when shes telling him crazy shit hes just listening boredly#he doesnt care that she apparantly murdered a small animal? im assuming the thing she watched the light in its eyes go out was a hamster#hopefully#but theres so much to unpack about this episode like aaaa#duh theres lots to unpack about Stone#but also just this one scene says sooo much about ezekiel and cassandra toooooooo#aughhh i love this show so much#ezekiel just...knows all of cassandra's secrets now#and he doesnt even care#hes so chill about it too#but he never chimes in to help because hed rather die then share more secrets about himself than he has tooooo#i love them#the librarians#ezekiel jones#cassandra cillian#eve baird#we dont talk about zeke and cass in this episode enough#sorry these tags should have been a separate post lmao

What’s the point of trying if it just proves that I’ll never be good enough? Ezekiel and Jenkins
set before the last scene of the season 2 finale Ezekiel grinned to himself, relocking the door behind him. The Library's security was fine, if it wanted to keep you out. He'd had to argue with it--quietly, when no one was around to hear-- for something of a challenge, since it kept inviting him in. Breaking into the vault that housed the really cursed stuff--an emerald the size of his head, a black diamond from some island that absolutely didn't exist anymore, the original ring of Gyges-- was exactly the kind of relaxing afternoon he needed to distract himself. It had been three weeks since the trip to England, three weeks of trying to find anything that would keep him from climbing the walls in his need to fix something everyone kept saying couldn’t be fixed. Well, maybe they were right. The time machine was shattered, and piecing it back together wouldn’t fix the magic that had powered it. Anything was better, though, than moping. So, the Gem vault. It wasn’t like there was anyone to scold him for it. That done, it was off back through the Annex to see if the Clippings book had literally anything of interest, maybe swipe one of Stone's chocolate bars just to remind him not to get complacent, bother Jenkins...
He drew up short at the sight of Jenkins's desk. It was gleaming, newly polished, and empty. Ezekiel hustled forward, poking at the air above the desk, running his hands over the sides. There had to be something going on, something invisible, a secret compartment the old guy was finally deciding to use...
"If you want the desk, I'd say you're in a place to...what do they kids call it? Dabs it?"
"Uh, Dibs, Jenkins. Dabbing is... you know." With a furtive glance over his shoulder to be certain that neither Cassandra nor Stone was watching, Ezekiel moved his arms.
"Ah. The traditional greeting amongst the druids, of course," Jenkins said. "Now, I.."
"You what. Have to go somewhere? You?" Ezekiel tried, and failed, to hold back the laugh--no, the chortle. "You don't go places. Explain about the druids thing?"
"Well perhaps I should." He did not elaborate. “ Go places,” he said after a long moment.
"Yoooouuuu don't mean you're leaving the library?"
"That is what I said," Jenkins sighed. "Perhaps you need your hearing checked?"
"You. Leaving the Library, though?" Ezekiel frowned. "Why?"
"Perhaps because I am bored."
"Pfft, you don't get bored."
"Perhaps I need a vacation," he said.
"While we're still .." Ezekiel stopped himself, and then continued anyways. "Still short staffed?"
"Mr. Jones, the point?"
"I just... there has to be something else we could try."
"Try?" Jenkins said, drawing himself up to his full height. "Try? What's the point of trying if it just proves it'll never be enough?"
Ezekiel took a careful step back. "Jenkins..."
"Don't, Mr. Jones. Just... don't. I'm not someone who needs to be coddled. Do you know what these last few weeks have been like for me? Trapped within my own mind, and then..."
"I mean, yeah." Ezekiel said. "The spell got all of us, so..."
"You're mortal. It's to be expected, for you. Not for me. I'm meant to be above that. There's a reason I try not to get involved, and now that I have, I need to go."
"So you're running away."
"I am not running away," Jenkins snapped. "Do you have any idea, any idea at all, what this is like? I couldn't help Mr. Carsen or the Colonel. I couldn't stop my father from betraying our family, I couldn't save Aur--"
"Enough," Ezekiel said. "Do you think you're the only one who's watched his friends die? Over and over? No matter what you do? Because you're not. And running away from it... it doesn't help. Trust me. Lying to yourself won't bring them back."
"Surprisingly emotionally intelligent of you," Jenkins said quietly. "But when..."
"I lied. To Eve, to Cass, about the time loop." Ezekiel shrugged, looking at the card catalog built into the steps instead of at Jenkin's face. "It was easier if they didn't know. Every time I told them they kept looking at me, and I didn't want them to look at me like that. Like I needed..."
"To be coddled." Jenkins sighed.
"Sure, I guess. Anyways, playing like I didn't know ... that was for them. They don't have to try to fill in the blanks. But it didn't help me. Running away, it won't help you, either. So....Stay. We don't have a Guardian. We need you."
"I'm no guardian." Jenkins said. "but I'll...think about it. That's all I can promise."
"Good enough for me. Oh and, uh... you won't tell them, right? Stone and Cassandra?"
"I'll take your secret to my grave," Jenkins said.
"Great, that--hey."
Jenkins gave him back his own annoying grin, though it faltered. Ezekiel knew how he felt.

"The Librarians and the Disenchanted Forest":
I think Eve is trying to give Flynn's resignation the benefit of the doubt by saying "it was to cut down the number of Librarians," but A) you don't know that because he didn't talk to you, B) Jenkins, who DID hear more of his doubts pre-resignation, thought he was mainly freaking out about the tethering (which, to be clear, is valid but different), and C) Eve. Why would you TELL the children about the Librarian Civil War like it was a legitimate concern, this isn't helping.
And again, if Flynn were really willing to resign over the civil war concerns, there are better solutions than "make the others resign too"! You have three left then—one can tether, one can be the mortal Librarian, and the one left should at least see if they could get reassigned to Guardian. Then you have two pairs, one active, and one tethered, and everything is status quo.
(Though, again, I really don't see WHY this is such a concern. Yes, one of them could go evil! A sole Librarian could also go evil just as easily, right? What, because the joint Librarians were corrupted last time, they automatically will in this case too? I'm with Jenkins, this whole thing is silly.)
Yes, Eve, talking SENSE. As I expected! Fate and Destiny and Prophecy are immeasurably weaker than Eve's stubborn drive to hold on to her family. That's how it works.
HOWEVER. Genuinely and unironically responding to her magic family-team's internal Fate and Destiny and Prophecy-fueled internal crisis by dragging them to a team-building retreat is SO FUNNY. And somehow also very Eve.
I mean yes, technically the Library sent them to a team-building retreat, but Eve is using it.
"I hate camp" Ezekiel, have you... have you been to summer camp? When? How?
Cassandra "my urge to recapture my missed childhood is drowning out literally everything else" Cillian is a very refreshing switch from the Crisis.
Throw three geniuses and one very competitive Colonel into a puzzle competition and everything else is instantly forgotten. Of course.
Yyyyeah, telling Spooky Indian Campfire Stories around Stone is not going to go smoothly. Saw that coming.
Okay, Ezekiel's starting to genuinely not have a good time I think. Maybe two pranks is his limit.
"When did I become the adult?" Good question, Ezekiel! Precedent suggests some kind of personality-altering magic may be at work on everyone else.
Stone: "OH NO. A PRETTY GIRL QUOTING POETRY. MY TWO WEAKNESSES"
I... think this is the first time Ezekiel has ever said something he was doing wasn't fun. Wow.
Oh right, I guess DOSA does still exist. :/
Oh hey, a Lois Lane! They're always trouble.
Aww, Ezekiel and Cassandra. :( I see where they're both coming from... (and honestly, I think they're just two different responses to the same problem of No Childhood)
Oh, the trees are attacking? Fun if true.
Ezekiel has at some point taught Stone to pick locks.
...Combined with the fact that we know he gave Jenkins lockpicks for Christmas... has Ezekiel at some point given Lockpicks and Training Therein to all his teammates? Was this his one-size-fits-all Christmas present one year, or did he just do it gradually as occasion arose?
Eve: HOW DARE ROMANCE EXIST. ROMANCE IS BAD. ONLY THE TEAM EXISTS
"I took Flynn back every time" Eve, I love you, Flynn absolutely should have talked to you, and also I understand you're not obligated to be a 100% reliable narrator right now. But... half the time you break up with him.
Bro, you can't show the investigative reporter the Magical Secret World she's been searching for and then tell her she can never reveal its existence. That's not fair.
"Librarians can't have personal lives" I know Flynn is a convincing case study, but. Charlene was married for a while. I think it's at least possible for your everyday Librarian to work out something sustainable.

The Card Says ‘Secret Admirer’
“Are you sure this is where you want to go?”
“Yes,” replied Eve Baird as the car pulled up outside the Annex door. This wasn’t the first time she got asked that nor would it be the last.
The driver stared at her as she got out. “Are you sure,” he asked.
“Yes,” she replied, “I like the quiet and enjoy having lunch out here.”
Eve watched as the car pulled away. Next time, she thought, maybe I should just take the back door.
The back door was a magic door that Jenkins came up with. It could take them anywhere in the world that has a door. They just twist some knobs on the old globe, open the doors, and they were there. It was fast and convenient, but when just going into town, it felt better to take a car. Made her feel more like a regular person.
In fact, today, they all decided to head out for a while. Jenkins took the car and dropped them all off. He had a few errands to run himself and needed the car. He said he would pick them up when they were ready or set a door to their location. Eve decided to call a car instead. She didn’t always like using the magic door and even though Jenkins said he would pick them up, he would complain the whole time.
Eve saw someone walking in the woods nearby, but couldn’t make out who it was. She waited until they were out of sight before heading to the Annex door. They didn’t need others nosing around the building. She always got on Jones every time had a pizza delivered.
As Eve got closer to the door, she noticed a package sitting next to it. She approached it carefully. Flynn or Jenkins probably had an artifact sent here from someone. These artifacts can be dangerous. She hated getting surprises like this.
After making sure the package was safe to move, Eve picked it up and took it inside. After putting away the things she had picked up on her trip to town, Eve took the package to the Annex. She sat it down on the table and plucked the envelope off the package. There was nothing written on it except for a drawn heart. No name, no address. Nothing to indicate where it came from or who it was for.
At that moment, Jenkins walked into the room. “That is the last time I offer to take any of you anywhere,” he said.
“Didn’t enjoy the ride,” asked Eve.
“No way. First one of you wants to go here. Another wants to go there. Somebody wants to be picked up and taken somewhere else. That is it. Next time you want to go to town, drive yourselves or take the door,” replied Jenkins. He spotted the package on the table. “What is that,” he asked.
“I don’t know,” replied Eve, “I found it by the door, outside, when I got back.”
“Well, who is it from? Who is it for,” asked Jenkins.
“I’m not sure. There is nothing on the envelope except a heart,” replied Eve, as she showed it to Jenkins.
“So, it is not from you,” asked Jenkins. Eve shook her head no. “Well, I didn’t leave it,” replied Jenkins, “It must be from Mr. Carsen.”
“What must be from me,” asked Flynn as he walked into the room.
“Did you leave this package by the door for me to find,” asked Eve.
“No, why would I,” Flynn Carsen said as he walked over to check it out.
“I don’t know, because you love me and wanted to do something special,” replied Eve.
“Sorry, sweetie. I meant to say I love you,” replied Flynn, “But I didn’t leave this.”
“Uh, huh,” replied Eve quizzingly, as Flynn kissed her on the cheek.
“Mr. Jenkins, where did you put my…” said Cassandra as she came into the room. She stopped when she saw the three of them standing around the Annex table. “What’s going on? Do we have a new case,” she asked them.
Jenkins suddenly remembered when Cassandra had a crush on him. “Did you leave a package by the Annex door,” asked Jenkins.
“A package? What kind of package,” asked Cassandra moving towards the table.
“I found a package outside. There is a card, but the only thing on the envelope is a drawn heart. We don’t know who it is for, or who is from,” Eve replied.
Cassandra looked over at the package. “I didn’t leave it,” she replied. “And none of you left it,” she asked the three of them. They all shook their heads no. “What do we do with it,” she asked.
“I don’t know, maybe we should open the card? See what it says,” said Flynn.
Before any of them could answer the globe started spinning and the backdoor lit up. As the doors opened up, Flynn and the others could hear them arguing before seeing Jacob and Ezekiel walking into the room.
“We said we were going to meet at Blue Bird Tavern,” said Ezekiel.
“No, we said we were going to meet at Burgerville,” replied Jacob angrily.
“No, we didn’t mate. I distinctly remember saying Blue Bird Tavern. We were going to grab a pint before we came back,” replied Ezekiel.
Ezekiel and Jacob stopped when they realized the other four were staring at them. “What’s going on,” asked Jacob
“What are you two arguing about now,” asked Jenkins, “I thought you were going to call when you were ready to be picked up, but you never did.”
“Yeah, because Jones never showed up to the meeting place until I called to see where he was at,” replied Jacob.
“No, you didn’t show up to Blue Bird Tavern, where we said we were going to meet,” replied Ezekiel.
“We said Burgerville,” said Jacob. He and Ezekiel started arguing again.
“Enough,” said Eve and they both stopped.
“What is everybody doing in the Annex, anyway,” asked Ezekiel.
“Why are you asking? Are you trying to hide something,” Flynn asked Ezekiel.
“No, just curious,” replied Ezekiel and took a bite of the pizza he had in his hand.
Flynn eyed Ezekiel for a moment. Eve broke the silence and said, “Anywho, I found this box outside. Did one of you two leave it?”
Jacob and Ezekiel walked up to the table to look at the box. “I’ve never seen that,” replied Jacob.
“Me, neither,” replied Ezekiel, “Who’s it for?”
“We don’t know,” replied Eve. She held up the envelope and said, “There’s no name written on it. Just a drawn heart.”
“Well, the only person I would send that to is myself,” replied Ezekiel. “But I didn’t,” Ezekiel said after noticing the weird looks from the others.
Jacob rolled his eyes at Ezekiel. Then he held out his hand and said, “Can I see it?”
Eve handed the enveloped card to Jacob. He looked it over while asking, “You found this outside by the door? Did you see anybody else when you found it?”
Eve replied, “Yes by the door.” She thought about it for a second and replied, “Wait, I thought I saw someone walking through the woods, but I didn’t get a good look at them.”
“Hmm,” said Jacob, “Somebody could have seen one of us in town and followed us back here. We aren’t always careful when we head out on the town.”
“You’re right,” replied Jenkins, “We haven’t been careful, but that’s why we have safeguards to keep people out.”
“So, what are we going to do with it,” asked Ezekiel.
“I think we are going to have to open it to see who it is for,” said Eve.
They all agreed. Then Cassandra asked, “Who’s going to open it?”
They all looked at each other. Then Flynn said to Jacob, “Why don’t you open it since you are holding it.”
Jacob said okay and then opened the envelope. He opened the card and glanced at it real quick. Then he turned to Cassandra and said, “I believe it is for you.”
Cassandra took the card from Jacob and read it to herself. She smiled.
After a few minutes Flynn asked, “What does it say?”
Cassandra looked up and read, "Cassandra, you are the smartest, most beautiful woman I ever met. I love your caring nature. I love that you try not to let people get the better of you but not afraid to tell them off. I have trust in you and I hope one day you would feel the same about me. For now I will cherish the moments we have together."
Cassandra stopped reading the card. She looked up as Eve said, "do you spend a lot of time with people?"
"I don't know. I do visit a lot of the same places when we go out and talk to some of the regulars and employees at those places," replied Cassandra.
"Who does it say it's from," asked Flynn.
"The card says, 'Secret Admirer'," Cassandra replied.
"Someone wants to remain anonymous for now, that's interesting," said Flynn intrigued.
"What's in the box," asked Ezekiel.
Cassandra opened up the box. She reached inside and pulled out something wrapped in tissue paper. She carefully unwrapped the gift to reveal a stuffed cat dressed as a scientist. She smiled a slight smile.
"Wow, that's so interesting," said Ezekiel sarcastically. Jacob gave him a slight shove. "Sorry, I mean, what a thoughtful gift," said Ezekiel.
"I don't care what you think, Ezekiel. I think he's cute," replied Cassandra.
"Whatever," replied Ezekiel, "I'm going to my room." As he headed out of the room, he turned back and said, "and Stone, maybe next time you'll remember where we were supposed to meet." He was gone before Jacob could reply.
"Well, now that we got the box out of the way, I'm going to check to see if all the security measures are up to date," said Jenkins. Then he left the room.
Flynn and Eve were the next to leave the room. As they left, Eve was asking Flynn if he would do something that sweet for her with Flynn saying that of course he would.
Cassandra and Jacob were the only ones left in the room. They stood there quietly for a moment. Cassandra was still looking at the stuffed cat in her hands. She didn't realize Jacob was staring at her. He had a sweet smile on his face as he looked at her.
Jacob was lost in thought, not realizing he was staring at Cassandra. I'm glad she likes the gift, he thought. He's not sure if he'll ever tell her the truth.
After Jenkins dropped them all off, Jacob made a plan. Jenkins dropped Jacob and Ezekiel off at the same place. Jacob turned to Ezekiel and said, "Hey, I am going to run a few errands and we can meet up after to call Jenkins to pick us up."
"Alright, Mate," replied Ezekiel. Ezekiel took out his phone and looked at his G.P.S. "How about we meet at Blue Bird Tavern," said Ezekiel.
"Sounds good," replied Jacob, "In an hour sound alright?"
"Alright, see you then," replied Ezekiel.
Jacob watched as Ezekiel walked away and turned the corner. As soon as he was out of sight, Jacob rushed to get done what he had to do and get back in time.
Jacob had just placed the box, when he saw a taxi turn the corner. Someone was coming back earlier than he expected. He rushed off to the woods hoping not to be seen. He was going to have to take a longer way back to meet Ezekiel.
When Jacob got close to the meeting place, he was already running behind. That's when he spotted Burgerville. He ducked inside and waited a few minutes to call Ezekiel. “Where are you, man," asked Jacob as soon as Ezekiel picked up.
"I'm at Blue Bird Tavern waiting on you," replied Ezekiel.
"But we said we were meeting at Burgerville," replied Jacob.
"No we didn't, Mate, we said Blue Bird Tavern," replied Ezekiel.
"I am pretty sure we said Burgerville, but whatever, just meet me here," said Jacob.
Ezekiel arrived and they began to argue about who was right. Of course Ezekiel was right but Jacob will never admit to that. They called a door instead of calling Jenkins and waiting to be picked up. They continued to argue as they stepped through the door into the Annex.
Jacob came out of his thoughts when he realized Cassandra was looking at him. He realized she had said something to him. He asked her to repeat what she said.
"I said it was really sweet of someone to do this for me," she replied.
"Yeah," replied Jacob, "I am sure whoever left it, thinks you are special and deserve something special."
Cassandra looked at Jacob. He was looking away kind of shyly as he said that. It was at that moment she knew. "I wonder why he didn't write his name," she said.
"Maybe he's afraid you won't feel the same way about him," replied Jacob.
They were silent for a moment. Cassandra waited until Jacob looked at her. "Well, I hope he one day gets the courage to tell me who he is," she said. She picked up the cat and card and put them into the box. "I think I'm going to go to bed,” she said as she picked up the box.
Jacob walked with Cassandra to the door. As she was about to walk out the door, she said, “Good night, Jacob," and she gave him a kiss on the cheek. Then she was gone.
Jacob gathered up some things in the Annex, as he thought about what Cassandra said. He went to the door, looking back as he reached for the lights. Yeah, he thought, maybe someday I'll tell her it was me. He turned out the lights and headed to his room.

Librarians Prompt Month Day 7: A Headmaster’s First Task
Part of the Librarians prompt month started by @the-librarians-prompt-month
Hogwarts AU
Professor Flynn Carsen, head of Ravenclaw house and deputy headmaster, could not believe his ears.
“You’re retiring?”
Charlene nodded gravelly. “The recent scandal around the new muggle studies curriculum has many calling for my removal.”
“Only because they’re backwards-minded, rich, snotty-“
“Mr Carsen,” Charlene interrupted.
“It’s true!”
“It’s besides the point. I stand by my decision, and that has forced me to retire.”
“But right now?” Flynn asked. “After two professors have left?”
“It was their decision that pushed the ministry’s decision to remove me,” Charlene said.
“But that leaves me to fill two - no, three - different faculty positions!” Flynn argued. “Plus, I’m the only Ravenclaw on staff, so that’s another position! Four positions!”
“No, it doesn’t,” Charlene replied.
Flynn flinched. “Are you saying I’m not going to be headmaster?”
“Of course not. I’m saying I did my job, for you. I made a list, you just have to get them to agree.”
Charlene handed Flynn a piece of paper, and he quickly scanned the contents.
“Ezekiel Jones?” Flynn questioned. “For care of magical creatures?”
“Are you doubting me?” Charlene challenged.
“No, no,” Flynn backtracked. “Of course not. I’m just - surprised, is all.”
“Good. Now go fill your staff, Professor Carsen.”
Charlene made everything sound easy.
Well, it wasn’t. In fact, it took Flynn a week to track down the first replacement - the one who would fill his old position.
Fortunately, at 3:15 everyday, Cassandra Cillian could be seen leaving St Mungo’s. It was then that Flynn approached her.
“Cassandra Cillian,” he greeted. “I’m Professor Flynn Carsen, headmaster at Hogwarts. Nice to meet you.”
Cassandra shoot him a bewildered look, but shook his head nonetheless. “Nice to meet you, too.”
“It’s really a shame,” Flynn continued. “That no one at St Mungo’s will listen to you.”
“I know,” Cassandra agreed. “I’m sure I could make such a difference, if we just merge science and magic, our medicine would improve by centuries! Diseases like cancer are still so prominent within the wizard of world, but no one will listen to me.”
“My predecessor did,” Flynn said.
“Charlene?” Cassandra questioned. “I’ve talked to her before. She keeps trying to arrange me to meet the Hogwarts librarian - Jenkins? - but he hasn’t shown up yet.”
“I could see that going well.” Not really. “But that’s not what I’m here to talk to you about. As I said, I’m now Headmaster, which leaves my old position - charms - open. Would you be willing to come and teach?”
“Me, teach?” Cassandra asked. “But that would take so much time away from my work.”
“You don’t need time,” Flynn argued. “What you need is to not be the only witch or wizard open to new ideas. Open-mindedness like that starts young. If you want to help foster an entire generation of explorers and scientists and thinkers who could do bounds more than you alone could, you need to teach.”
Cassandra hesitated. “You have a point. Okay, I’m in.” .
Most stories involving Jacob Stone start with a bar and a pretty woman.
Of course, in this story, the pretty woman was just that - a pretty, and intelligent, woman. She wasn’t part of any secret organization, nor did she want to kill Jacob Stone.
That didn’t mean she’d let him buy her a drink that easily.
“Oh, come on,” Jacob argued. “It’s a free drink, how can you say no to that?”
“You Ilvermony folks are so stubborn,” the woman complained.
“I went to Hogwarts, same as you!” Jacob argued. “I was visiting family for a few years, that’s the only reason I have an accent.”
“One, you also dress like a cowboy,” the woman argued. “Two, I went to Dumstrang, not Hogwarts.”
“Then what are you doing down here?” Jacob asked.
“Visiting family,” she decided. “Muggle family. You won’t know them, so don’t ask.”
“Wasn’t going to.”
The woman shifted, and Jacob caught sight of a tattoo on the woman’s upper back.
“Pretty tattoo,” he commented.
The woman’s looked him over. “I’ll let you buy me a drink if you can tell me what it says.”
Jacob had to stand to actually see the letters on the woman’s tattoos, but he did recognize the words.
“Ab imo pectore,” Jacob read. “From the deepest chest, or from the bottom of my heart. A quote attributed to Julius Caesar.”
“Impressive,” the woman said. She meant to say more, but was cut off by the person on the other side of Jacob.
“Jacob Stone?”
Jacob turned, a little annoyed at being disturbed.
“Yes?”
“Hi, I’m Professor Flynn Carsen.”
Flynn held out his hand, and Jacob took it.
“Taking over for Charlene, right?” Jacob asked.
“Yes, unfortunately,” Flynn answered. “Anyways, as I’m sure you know, the history of magic position is open.”
“They fired Binns?” Jacob questioned.
“Yes, and the replacement quit,” Flynn explained. “I was hoping you would consider teaching.”
“History of magic?” Jacob said. “I have to admit, it is tempting. But I have a job, so no thanks.”
“You’d also be head of house,” Flynn added.
Now, that was very tempting.
“Deal.”
.
Technically speaking, Ezekiel Jones had never broken a wizarding law.
Wizarding law prohibited using magic to break muggle laws, not the breaking of laws themselves. And since Ezekiel Jones never needed magic to break laws, he technically hadn’t broke a wizarding law.
Flynn still didn’t want him at his school, and Ezekiel seemed to agree.
“Teaching’s just not for me,” Ezekiel said, when Flynn confronted him. “Not enough adrenaline, you know?”
“That’s fine,” Flynn said, walking away. I don’t need someone who breaks muggle laws, who got kicked off the quidditch team for being “too reckless”, who-
“Charms isn’t my thing, anyways.”
Now that was just insulting.
“Oh no, you wouldn’t have been teaching charms,” Flynn said. “We have someone much more talented for that. You would have been teaching care of magical creatures.”
“Wait, really?”
Ezekiel bounded up next to Flynn like an excited puppy.
“When can I begin? Ooh, will I also be responsible for all the creatures during the off hours? And can I bring my pet gargoyle? Stumpy will love Hogwarts.”
Flynn stopped in his tracks.
“You have a pet gargoyle?”

Out from the Facades
Fandom: The Librarians

Going off a previous post where I headcanoned Stone as a trans guy, this is a fic revolving around that, and the concept of found family for June 4th's prompt: Found Family.
Also posted on my Ao3.
-----
Jacob came home, hair cut short, with a button down shirt from the thrift store, trying to ignore the uncomfortableness of the too small sports bra he was using to bind. His father was usually home later, so he figured he’d have some time to think up what he was going to say, and where he could go if he ended up getting kicked out.
Unfortunately, Isaac Stone was standing at the kitchen counter, looking at some bill that had come in the mail that day. His father looked up, squinting at the open door from the bright Oklahoma afternoon. When Jacob unfroze and shut the door, Isaac sucked in a breath.
“So, you’re a boy now,” Isaac said, inspecting Jacob like he was a prize heifer at the county fair. While his feet could move, Jacob’s throat did not want to cooperate, so Isaac continued. “Since you couldn’t even be a decent girl, you better be a better man, you understand?”
Jacob nodded, mentally finishing the thought that came next: because I can’t have a queer for a kid.
So that’s what Jacob did. So long as he acted like a good ol’ boy, everyone went along with it. He was surprised how quickly people just decided that yeah, Rebecca Stone was actually Jacob Stone, star of the high school football team, more than capable of drinking with the actual linebackers, and making the same comments, though thankfully he never felt compelled to act on them like others did.
But the real shocker was how easily Isaac Stone swept the notion of Rebecca, the rough tomboy, under the rug like he had with his late wife's heritage. Surprising support wrapped in the ultimate thought that if things weren't right by themselves, he'd force it into a more acceptable image and move on. He’d drive Stone to Oklahoma City for hormone replacement therapy until he could drive himself, his father hid of all the pictures past baby stage that indicated a girl that wasn’t on board with being one, and somehow never misgendered him.
Of course, his father didn’t have to worry about misgendering if he wasn’t home, or was passed out drunk on the couch if he was.
By the time Jacob turned 18, no one made any mistakes. He’d been blessed by the transgender gods, spending most of his formative years on testosterone, and soon got top surgery in the city (thankfully paid for before his father completely ran the company into the dirt). To complete the perfect picture, he got himself a nice, manly job oil rigging. It was easy to forget he’d ever been Rebecca first.
But jacob couldn’t ignore how much of a fuckup he still was. No one knew that he’d went to college instead of “a stint up on the Keystone pipeline,” that he’d published dozens of scholarly essays on art and literature of all sorts while “apprenticing to be a surveyor,” that he still liked men even though he was a convincing fake womanizer. Despite briefly living more like who he really was, he was terrified of what would happen if the people back home found out. So, what better way to prevent that than to come back to Oklahoma and work long hours on a dead-end pipeline job, biding his time until Isaac decided he’d done enough to murder his company and let Jacob actually take over.
And then, when he was at the bar with some of his buddies, after dutifully hitting on the hot foreign chick with a Latin tattoo, ninjas showed up, and a NATO counter terrorism officer saved his ass.
The Library made it really hard to be Jacob Stone, manly oil rigger from Oklahoma, because he wasn’t any use to the Library for just that. No, Jacob Stone, brilliant scholar and expert in all things liberal arts, that was exactly who the Library needed to repeatedly save the world. And Jacob realized that, hey, it was pretty nice to actually be the real Jacob Stone, the one under all those facades.
The problem was old habits, ones that were decades in the making, were hard to break. It took him a few months to quit instinctively playing stupid before realizing, no, he didn’t have to do that. Only recently did he actually tell his colleagues what he was always busy working on in their off time, still publishing under Dr. Oliver Thompson, though the thought of abandoning the pseudonyms gave him the same fear that kept him hidden in Oklahoma.
At least the artificial interest in women was becoming not so artificial, but then there was Ezekiel Jones, doing his damn best to remind Jacob how not straight he was. And he still wasn’t totally truthful with the team; no one knew he was trans. Though he knew he didn’t owe them that bit of personal history, it felt like one more mask still hanging on his face.
And then the Library sent them to one of his father’s new sites in Wagner, and his past that he tried to shed came rearing its head all at once. Fortunately his father had hired local contractors who didn’t know Jacob, but he couldn’t do much about Isaac himself, or the fact they were dealing with some Choctaw mythology causing a ruckus, with protestors who seemingly could see through his white-passing visage and into his native blood.
It was as if the universe decided that he needed to actually confront the cultural past he’d carefully locked away years ago with his mother’s death, and the past he’d managed to lock away recently with becoming a Librarian. And maybe he actually would.
Isaac, of course, was off being useless in a bar, so naturally he got to introduce his colleagues to his father in his worst state.
“The hell you doin’ here?” Isaac was looking at him, just like he had that afternoon 25 years ago.
It took all of his willpower to not just turn around and leave. “...hey Pop.”
They managed to convince Isaac that he was just a surveyor assistant to Ezekiel, though part of him was on guard in case Cassandra decided to throw down with his father’s disgusting misogynistic behavior (he was convinced she gave Isaac a headache with all the jargon she threw around, so she got some revenge). It was easy knowing what to say to keep Isaac from suspecting anything, to get him to cooperate (especially considering he was oiled with alcohol), but after effectively being “out” intellectually for a year, it hurt to shove himself back into the good ol’ boy role, even if part of him was screaming it was the safe thing to do.
Being locked in the truth chamber was a thrilling experience, in that his anxiety about kept them from escaping. He thought he was going to have to come out right there to Ezekiel and Cassandra, but thankfully the door was happy enough with him talking about his father.
In the end, even after getting a practice run with Hokolonote, he realized it didn’t matter if Isaac had no clue who he really was. Isaac would never care, because Jacob still ended up being the family fuck up, just the “turnin’ your back on your family” one. He left Oklahoma with a different hurt, the low ache of realizing he never actually had genuine family to begin with.
And then he spent more time with the Librarians, and that ache began to fade. These people he worked with, saved, got saved by, knew him as he was, and loved him for it. And realized he felt the exact same way about them. He near spooked himself with how much he cared if Eve had died by Dulac’s sword, if Ezekiel got killed by anubis’s werewolves, if Cassandra didn’t make it through the surgery, if Flynn hadn’t been strong enough to take in evil while they scrambled for a solution to Apep, if Jenkins somehow died (thank god he was immortal). Family was only half of having people care about you; you had to care about them too.
He had family.
But he didn’t want any secrets with the family, and he still had one left tugging on his heart. And who better to tell than the other professional faker on the team.
He cornered Ezekiel in the main room while the others went about doing whatever they were doing. “Hey, Ezekiel, can we talk?”
Ezekiel looked at him, a mix of confusion and concern, since Jacob rarely pulled the first name card for him. “Sure, mate. Is something wrong?”
“No...uh, just, let’s go somewhere more private,” Jacob said, about-facing and walking deeper into the Library. Ezekiel followed him, and he knew the thief was suddenly hyper aware of everything because Jacob caught him off-guard.
The wandered for a bit, eventually far enough from the others and any main walkways where someone might come near. “Okay, what’s this about?” Ezekiel asked, folding his arms.
Jacob took a death breath. “I’ve not been completely truthful about my past-”
Ezekiel cut him off. “No one ever is, least of all me, so what of it?”
“No, just-” Jacob rubbed his face in frustration “-I know you and Cassandra found out I’d lied to my father about myself for decades, but that’s not the only thing about me you don’t know.”
“Okay?” Ezekiel just looked at him even more confused. “Are you like, coming out or something? Because that isn’t a big deal, I mean it is, but like, Cassandra has a girlfriend, mate, and you know I’m not the straightest bloke around.”
“You’re not?” Jacob shook his head, ignoring that bit of apparently obvious information for now. “I, uh, well, yeah, Jones, I’m coming out. I’m trans.”
There was an awkward silence as Ezekiel tried to figure out what Jacob meant by that. “Congrats?” He opened and closed his mouth a few times like he was trying out sentences in his head and deeming them not appropriate, and then a flood of words came out. “Um, so, do you have like prefered pronouns you want me to use? Are you thinking about a new name? Cuz that’s cool too. Are you still into women, or do you not want me to set you up anymore-”
Jacob felt like he’d been doing Atlas’s job for him, and Atlas had finally relieved him. “Ezekiel,” Jacob started to get the thief to quiet, “I’m a trans man.”
“Ooh, okay.” Ezekiel, despite his ability to don a quality poker face, had no control over the blush on his face right then.
Deciding he had nothing left to lose, Jacob decided to answer Ezekiel’s last question. “And you can stop with setting me up with women too...because I’m not straight either.” He let out a bark of a laugh at how surreal he felt, which made Ezekiel startle. Apparently Ezekiel realized how big this was for Jacob, because he was looking at him in amazement now. “I can’t believe I’ve not told anyone else that in two and a half decades.”
“You...it’s been that long?” Ezekiel blinked in disbelief. “How did you hide that?”
Jacob shrugged. “You’d be surprised how easily people will ignore things if you fit in somehow. And I wasn’t ever totally hidden...you met Slaten. He knew me, well, more than anyone else until the Library.” He knew what was coming next after he said that.
“Were you...together?”
A smile crept onto Jacob’s face, reminiscent. “It’s the worst when you fall for your straight best friend.”
“It really is,” Ezekiel replied, and then his expression changed to something more serious, his posture annoyingly more seductive with just a slight tilt of his head and angle of his hips. “Now I pride myself in reading people, a necessary skill for effective grifting, and, well, when I first met you, you gave off some repressed gay vibes for sure. Was there something more when you shoved me against that bookcase when ninjas were invading the Library for the crown?”
Jacob thought back to that moment. “Not exactly, I mean, I'm a fighter so my first thought was to immobilize you.” Ezekiel raised an eyebrow, but Jacob had more to say. He stepped closer to Ezekiel as he said, “then my second thought was you looked like you were enjoying it.” Now he was almost toe to toe with Ezekiel, and the thief had certainly picked up on where he was going. “And my third thought was that I enjoyed looking at you like that.”
Conveniently, they were near a bookcase, not the one from the memory, but close enough. With all other thoughts out the window, Jacob grabbed Ezekiel by the shirt and pushed him against the bookcase. Ezekiel let out a little gasp when his back hit the wood, making Jacob's heart flip in his chest. What he said was true; Jacob was enjoying pinning Ezekiel to the bookcase, and based on Ezekiel's turned on expression, he was too.
Ezekiel interrupted his observations. “Are you just going to look at me?”
“Hmm, I might with that attitude,” Jacob purred. Ezekiel scoffed, but he glanced down at Jacob's mouth, and then Jacob couldn't resist any longer. He relaxed his elbows and brought his face near inches away from Ezekiel's, but something making him hesitate.
Ezekiel read him like an open book. “You aren't second guessing, are you? There's nothing wrong with who you are, though your wardrobe could still use help-”
“Oh, shut it,” Jacob growled, but he didn't back away.
“Make me, cowboy,” Ezekiel retorted. That was enough to get Jacob to close the remaining distance and press his lips onto Ezekiel's.
It wouldn't be an exaggeration for him to say he felt fireworks when Ezekiel kissed back.
This was his family, this building, these people. Blood wasn't everything, despite what the folks back home thought. It only took him 40 years to find it, but he was very glad he did.
-----
Post Notes: So, this is some idyllic world where trans teens got HRT in the 80's, which as far as Google would tell me, wasn't a thing until more recently. Also, since I used “And What Lies Beneath the Stones” for reference on Jacob and Isaac interacting, I also noticed how the one protestor reacted when he looked at Stone, and my brain decided that was him recognizing Choctaw or another tribe in Stone because that's also a fun headcanon in my head from when people mentioned it way back.
I picture this happening after season four, so technically the LiTs don't remember the whole Jenkins dying bit (I feel like Flynn and Eve wouldn't say for time line stability, since Flynn does watch out for that already from “And the Final Curtain”).

@wcstenra asked —— ‘ it’s okay, i’m here, we’re okay. ’
Carefulness is long gone, usually he would be careful about his weight and height around the petite woman, delicately guiding his movements, but his body practically collapses the second she opens the door, body shaking with sobs. Burying his head in her neck, Flynn breaths in her scent, fresh like a flower, synonymous with home -- and right now, the only home he has left.
The library had always been a second home, welcoming him with the most tempting thing the world has to offer -- infinite knowledge, a chance to learn what no one can. Its never ending walls, priceless artifacts welcomed him warmly everytime he stepped foot inside, winking, beckoning him to uncover his secrets. The smell of books, old, new, rare and a mass market paperback were the bouquet of his workplace. But, the truth was, the people there were his family. Charlene, with her cold wit and endless reminders -- how he longed to give her a receipt now, to tug her into his arms and whirl her around ( oh he knows she would screech and hate it, but he wanted to so much ). He loved her, he could barely understand her sometimes -- even though he had been able to cold read her perfectly in their very first meeting, Charlene as a person was a never ending mystery. And Judson, his father, his mentor, the man he looked up to answer any of his problems, who stood by him and supported through all these years. A decade -- that’s how long he has been a librarian, much longer than most librarians before him, much longer than anyone thought he would survive, a man like him, with no guardian by his side. Death should have claimed him long ago by all accounts, but he kept surviving. Both of them, gone, in a blink of an eye, and he was left alone with a bunch of strangers and no library. How could he go on a week without Judson, who would he talk to, who would be able to understand his moods and fancies, it had only taken the man a second to realize Flynn was in love after coming back from the undercover mission.
Lucy -- his beautiful Miss Westenra, it wasn’t fair to her to say Judson was the only person who could read him, his heart belonged solely to her, and after he so willingly gave it to her, she had become the keeper of his secrets and desires, his inner thoughts and longings. At first he had tried to keep things under lock and key, separate his life as a librarian to the beautiful life they were building together, it was an automatic reaction, who would want to trouble someone as angelic and wonderful as her? No, she shouldn’t worry about such things, her heart should remain and untroubled and light. But, with their lives so intertwined, it was impossible to keep things separated, and so the flood opened and their conversations deepened, talks of the library, of his impossible job, of his love of it, colored their nights.
And now it was gone. Sure, they still had the Annex and technically they still had all of the books, but it wasn’t the same thing. Stepping into the annex he didn’t get the same rush he got whenever the elevator doors opened and the library presented itself to him. The new librarians, green and inexperienced but oh so eager to help, and their wonderful new guardian would be taking over, working the small cases, keeping the world safe and magic out of the wrong hands. And he --
Walking them backwards, his arms still tightly gripped around her, he wobbled until they reached the couch. He only let her go the seconds he needed to walk around her and sit on the couch, but quickly he pulled her into his lap, his head finding solace in her neck, his lips brushing a gentle kiss in the skin there, where once her throat had almost been ripped apart by a monster; the mark still lingered, a blemish on an otherwise perfect skin. It gave him comfort to kiss the same skin, gently, always with reverence and love, feeling the pulse there -- she was alive, he had saved her, and she was his. He could feel her pulse, her heart beating, the gentle movement of her body as she breathed. She was still alive, she was still breathing, he hadn’t lost her. His whole world had been lost to him today, everything cruelly ripped away, even briefly his own life. But, she was still here. His hand tightened around her waist. “You are okay.” he said to himself, pulling away only because he felt the intense need to see her face.
Blue eyes stared back at him, her beautiful face framed by her golden locks he so loved. She was even more beautiful than the day she had walked into his office -- after all, she wasn’t dying this time. But, it was more than that. That day he had been enchanted by her beauty, the pretty lips that had explained her dreadful situation to him, her delicate hands that he held as he soothed her. But now she was his beloved, the center of his universe, more treasured than any artifact the library held. No passing beauty could hold a candle to the reaction she brought out of him -- was she perfect because he loved her, or did he love her because she was perfect? The former of course, but perfect she was.
“I died.” he without without a lot of preamble. “Only for a few seconds, I’m back now. Still in one piece, mostly, got a nasty scar on my chest.” he briefly wonders what would have happened if he had died permanently -- without Judson and Charlene, who would tell Lucy of his death? Did he have a permanent file where Charlene put Lucy as his emergency contact that he would have contacted? Flynn struggles to imagine Jenkins doing that. No, he would have died, been gone, probably buried in the Library and Lucy would know after he didn’t come back, that he had died working for the Library. His throat clenches, a dry sob escaping his lips -- all his tears had been shed now.
He was leaving, he had to. He had to find the Library, bring it back to this world. “Judson and Charlene are gone, I will give you the numbers of the new team, I don’t think they will be able to get into contact with me either, but if you need anything they will help you. Jenkins and Eve both look very capable and will tell you if anything happens.” he mulls over telling her about Cassandra’s betrayal, not wanting her to think ill of his new friend, but decides its best he be the one to tell her. “Cassandra, she briefly betrayed us, giving the Serpent Brotherhood a chance to almost kill me, but don’t hold it against her, she is dying, she was trying to survive. There is Jacob and Ezekiel as well, I think you will like Jacob, he is quite nice. Ezekiel is Australian.
It would be a bit ridiculous returning to the Library after his goodbyes and very dramatic exit, but he had to make sure they had Lucy’s number, that they knew of her. The nightmare situation he had imagined before couldn’t come to pass.
“The Library is gone.” resting his head against her shoulder, Flynn felt a bit more like himself now. Leaning against the couch, he ran his hand up and down her back. Throwing his head back, he closed his eyes. “Judson and Charlene did something, I don’t know exactly what it was, but they put the Library in another dimension to protect it... I think they died in the process, I don’t know yet. But I’ll find out, I have a plan you see, I think there is a way to get the Library back, but it means I’ll have to go away for a while.” his trips are usually just a few days long, rarely does he spend more than a week away from home. But this time it can be months before he returns. “Ten years later and I still don’t know all the secrets of the Library.” resentment colors his tone, he hates that, hates how Judson would refuse to explain things to him, only showing him what he thought was necessary fro him to know at the time. “I had no idea that was even possible. Lucy, its gone.” his eyes flutter open, once again needing to see her face. “There is an annex, its in Portland of all places, if you need help that’s where you will go. That’s all there is left of the Library, a little annex, a caretaker, a guardian and three young Librarians. Was I ever that green? Oh, I sure I was, but that was long ago.”
“It’s all gone Lucy. All of it, except you.”
Different ways to say I love you I accepting

Popping the question
So you wanted to be productive today? Then whatever you do, don’t think about how the LITs, in various universes and configurations, would propose to each other. But now that you ARE thinking about that, here’s my two cents because I”m a hopeless romantic and also an idiot, so you can spare yourself some trouble.

Jacob and Ezekiel
Two words; museum dates. They’re kind of a thing for the two of them, because Jake likes to look at paintings and Ezekiel likes to look at shiny things and the security surrounding it. The Louvre, the Met, the Prado, the Uffizi & the Galleria Accademia, the Hermitage; they’ve seen a lot of the world’s finest art by now, but there’s still one that’s missing from their list.
So one day, they go to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. And they wander past Vermeer, and Jan Steen, and Frans Hals, and Rembrandt and it’s great. It’s perfect. The art is beautiful, the security measures are top-notch but by no means impossible to crack and so they are both having a great time.
And finally, they get to the room where the Night Watch is. Rembrandt’s masterpiece and the one painting Jake has not shut up about since they started planning this trip. But it’s funny: the room is completely empty and devoid of tourists and guards, so Ezekiel almost cracks a joke about this being too easy, when Jake stops him and oh no.
And Jake starts his little speech about how Ezekiel means more to him than any masterpiece in the world and he’s holding a ring and Ezekiel has to cut him off right then and there because you are such a sap cowboy and also yes holy shit yes.
(Yes, Jake emailed the museum director to ask if they would please be so kind as to clear out the Night Watch room for half an hour so he could propose to his boyfriend. The name Oliver Thompson gets a lot of shit done).
Once he’s put the ring on, Ezekiel doesn’t stop crying until they’ve left the museum and are back at their hotel. Jacob tries to make fun of him, but gets through a whopping five seconds before he gives in and kisses him instead (so Ezekiel won’t see he’s on the verge of bawling as well)

Ezekiel and Cassandra
Cassandra’s super secret Christmas wish? Getting all dolled up and going to a Christmas gala like the ones her parents used to host. When she was little, sneaking out of her bedroom and hiding herself away on the landing so she could peek into the room below, that had always seemed to be the most magical and amazing thing to her and she could not wait to grow up and be a part of that.
Well. That didn’t happen, but the secret little wish remained, even if she tried her hardest to convince herself it was silly, and it probably wasn’t even that much fun and who wants to spend all night sipping champagne while you can feel the blisters forming in your high heels anyway?
Enter Ezekiel Jones. Who has a knack for finding out secrets and then not laughing at them, but instead shows up two weeks later with two tickets to a charity ball held on the Friday before Christmas and oh would you look at that, all proceeds are going to a foundation that’s dedicated to battling childhood cancer so how on earth could Cassandra say no?
(’That’s cheating,’ Cassandra says, when she’s done sniffing and wiping her eyes. ‘Of course it is,’ Ezekiel grins back)
And Ezekiel hadn’t meant to go about it like this. He really honestly just wanted Cassandra to have a great night and then take her back home for a more private Christmas celebration, but the room around him is a haze of golden light, the orchestra music is floating through the air and he is slow dancing with Cassandra in his arms and he smells nothing but warmth and love and the barest hint of strawberries so he just blurts it out. ‘Marry me?’
He tries to backtrack, tries to turn it into an if-situation: if he asks her and does it properly, with the ring and the speech and the going down on one knee, will she say yes? But Cassandra shakes her head, kisses his cheek and tells him that he doesn’t have to because she’ll say yes right now. So that’s settled then.
---
Cassandra and Jacob
There is one person on the planet who is more of a hopeless romantic than Jacob Stone, and that is Cassandra Cillian. So, frankly, once Jake realizes that this is something he is going to do, he knows he can pick any location from the book and she’ll love it. He can ask her in Paris, or on top of the Empire State Building, or in the Hayden Planetarium and she’ll be over the moon.
So Jake decides to have a little bit of harmless fun with her.
He takes her on a surprise trip to Paris, booking the most romantic hotel he could find. They go to the Eiffel Tower, take an evening cruise along the Seine, reenact Hunchback songs in front of the Notre Dame and, in short, have the sweetest and most rose-tinted 48 hours a pair of Librarians can have. (And don’t think Jake doesn’t see how Cassandra keeps side-eyeing him. She loves it, but she’s expecting something more and that is exactly the point).
And then they get back to the Annex and life continues as normal.
Two weeks later, Jake takes her to New York for their date night. And Cassandra lived in New York, but she has never been to the top of the Empire State Building. The view is amazing, the night is chilly enough that they have to stand close together, with Cassandra wrapped up in Jake’s arms and all in all, it’s a pretty good date.
But then they get back to the Annex. And the next day, they get back to work.
And Jake pretends not to notice the tiny dismayed expression that Cassandra is sporting that day, but he does see it and he bites back his grin. Because another two weeks later, he is taking her to the Hayden Planetarium. It’s her favorite place on earth, and she is his favorite person so this should have been the perfect occasion.
But even when a star-studded sky stretches overhead and Cassandra gazes up in awe and wonder at the picture she has seen a hundred times, Jake doesn’t go down on one knee.
On the way out of the Planetarium, Cassandra has to tell herself very firmly that it doesn’t make sense to be this disappointed and it does not make sense at all to have a lump in her throat and a heavy feeling in her stomach because she’s already got more than she ever dared to hope for, so what more could she even want?
Jake asks her if she’s okay and she nods, not even noticing his smile when he holds open the Back Door for her.
And then Cassandra steps into the Annex and sees. About a million candles, which is usually not a good idea in a room with so many books, an ungodly amount of rose petals (it seems someone by name of Ezekiel Jones might have gone a little overboard with them, but Jake doesn’t even care at the moment) and, in the middle of it all, a small velvet box waiting for her on top of her desk.
‘I could’ve asked you anywhere,’ Jake says, pressing the sweetest of kisses to her cheek, ‘but I kinda wanted to do it at home.’
(And after Cassandra has called him an asshole about a hundred times and also punched him a little, her answer is definitely yes).
Cassandra + Ezekiel + Jacob
This time, Cassandra is the first to get the word out. They’re getting ready for Christmas dinner, the three of them, after spending all day in the kitchen together so tensions might be running a little high, because they’re all perfectionists but none of them are what you’d call professional chefs. After Jacob caught Ezekiel just in time before he put the tomato soup through the strainer, and after Cassandra had to swat Jacob’s hand before he dipped his finger into the boiling hot salted caramel sauce, it’s honestly a Christmas miracle they’ve managed to put food on the table at all.
But food is served, grace is said, the tomato soup is ladled into three polka dotted bowls and then, Cassandra reaches into the pocket of her dress, tucks a strand of hair behind her hear, blows out a breath and plonks a small black box on the festively dressed dinner table.
‘I know it’s not really the girl’s thing to do,’ she starts, but then stops again because Jake, looking baffled, is reaching ever so slowly into his own pocket to get out a very similar little box. And Ezekiel, watching this unfold in stunned silence, gets up without a word, vanishes into the bedroom for all of five seconds and then comes back, holding something square and small in his hand and setting it on the table next to the other two.
‘Guess great minds think alike, huh,’ Jake manages to say, right before Ezekiel starts to crack up, followed by Cassandra and soon, they are all three doubled over with laughter, so much that they can’t exactly be sure whether that is causing the tears to stream down their cheeks or maybe it’s something else.
They all say yes, though, once they get their breath back. They all say yes and Jake and Ezekiel even let Cassandra voice the question, since she is the one that started it. After which, they each pick the ring they like the best to wear on their finger and wear the other two on a delicate silver chain around their neck, so no one gets left out. It’s a bit of a mismatch, since they all went for slightly different ring styles, but that doesn’t matter. It’s only fitting, after all.

I JUST HAD A TERRIBLE IDEA
okay so you know how in leverage 1x09 they needed someone with a life-threatening brain tumor for their scam??? hey you know who has a life threatening brain tumor?? Cassandra Cillian. for the librarians-leverage fusion au.
“Look, mate, I can’t ghost an image that will pass an actual doctor’s inspection, so unless you can find someone to play a doctor–”
“Can you get another chamber?” Her skin is too tight, like it’s constricting over her chest. The air tastes wrong, cinnamon-adrenaline instead of the normal odd tinge of whatever filter the hospital is using. Hospitals. They always use the same filtration system, she remembers the smell from the hospital in New York when they sat her down and told her– “Then all you would need is a brain with a tumor in it; just send the image from the tumor-chamber to the monitor in here, and voila! We can spoof whatever doctor he brings in here.”
Jake eyes her, either because the cheer in her voice is too forced or because she’s clenching her fists where they’re resting between her arms and her sides. Ezekiel blinks.
“Oh. Yeah, that could actually work!” He almost sounds surprised and Cassandra feels her smile crack just a little more. No matter how many times it happens, it always rubs her the wrong way when they don’t expect her to be smart.
“Yes, that’s all well and good, Ms. Cillian, but then we still need a brain with a tumor in it.” Jenkins is being condescending again, wonderful.
She hasn’t said this out loud in so long that doing it now feels like pulling teeth; though, pulling teeth isn’t actually that difficult, you only need a pair of dental premolar pliers and two-hundred and ten newtons of force per millimeter squared–the warehouse in Berlin, they wouldn’t give her the access codes, so stupid, she can taste the copper in the air still–
“Cassandra.” Jake takes half a step toward her, putting him right in her space. He doesn’t try to touch her, which is good. She stares at him, and the air makes her eyes sting. How does he keep doing that?
“No, we don’t.” Cassandra swallows. “We already have one.”
“One what?” His voice is so soft, it feels like her favorite shawl wrapped around her shoulders.
“Brain. With a tumor in it.”
“Uh, no we don’t, I think I’d know if we were just–keeping brains with tumors in them around the office.”
“Of course we do, silly.” Now the skin around her mouth is tight, because her smile is fake. “We have me. I–the tumor in my brain should be big enough, I think.”
I think maybe this is an angsty reveal scene?? maybe??? maybe this won't end up fitting in with where I go with the main story; it depends on whether Cassandra’s brain tumor is like, common criminal-underworld knowledge or not. but if its not common knowledge, then this could be her, revealing incredibly personal and secret information to her not-quite-a-family-but-more-than-a-team.
this just popped into my head while I was watching the snow job. idk. let me know what you think!
(also, in case you were wondering, those are real numbers about how much force it takes to pull teeth! the government does some real creepy studies, y’all)
#cassandra cillian#fic#my fic#the librarians#leverage#librarians-leverage fusion au#ficlet#angst#sooo much angst#I haven't gotten anywhere near the team meeting up yet in the main-storyline fic#actually I haven't even gotten Cassandra into a real hitter-gig yet#or touched on any of the others' backstories#its#uh#taking a lot longer than I thought to turn a math geek into a hitman#I've decided the real big moral jump comes when lamia seduces her into it just a little bit#anyway#enjoy they angst!#also I figured Cassandra as a hitter maybe has the same problem as eliot#when it comes to people underestimating her smarts??#except she's not trying to do it on purpose#and it really annoys her#there's still some dynamics to work out#again#let me know what you guys think#im shaky on characterization so feedback is highly encouraged

A Theory Concept™️ for The Librarians
So I’ve discussed this a bit with @theonewithallthefangirling and I decided I wanted to flesh it out a bit because it really fascinates me. I don’t know if you would call it a theory persay, because I don’t think it’ll actually be mentioned on the show, its more an analysis of what’s true about the story, and why things are the way they are.
So, right now, there are two things that we know
The current Library team redefined the Library
This season will call into question their trust in the Library, and the implications of that redefinition
Right now, Nicole is trying to convince the team that the Library can’t be trusted. A future episode description tells us that a past Librarian will try to warn them that there can only be one Librarian. And, there’s the whole theme that they can’t live “normal” lives. Now knowing the show, and knowing fiction in general, I’m pretty sure the season will end with learning that this is all, as Jenkins would say, “poppycock”, and, as per usual, a Happily Ever After. But why?
I’m pretty sure this season is going to delve into a conclusion of saying that all these rules are no longer true and that the Library can be trusted because this team changed the rules. All these warnings are coming from people in the past, who were with the Library before it was “redefined”. But, because Flynn and Eve changed the rules, they don’t have to worry about these warnings anymore.
What makes this true though? Why can this team change the rules? Why were they able to redefine the Library? Why is the Library different with them in it? Why is Flynn the best Librarian, Eve the most important Guardian? What makes them each so different from any Librarian or Guardian that has ever come before? The answer to THAT is my theory/analysis: Each of them could potentially be either a Librarian or a Guardian.
Now, hear me out, because this seems weird at first, but to understand what I’m saying you kind of have to look at the two titles as their job descriptions over their skill-sets. Take away the “smartest person in the world” part of a Librarian and you have someone who’s able and willing to put all the pieces together and stop at nothing to save the world and protect knowledge. And take away the athletic skill-set from the Guardian job and you have, at the most basic definition....a protector. So now let’s look at Team Library with that in mind.
Eve is the most interesting one here I think and the one @theonewithallthefangirling and I discussed most. Because no, she doesn’t have the same super-intelligence level as the rest of them, but this season is proving more than ever that she has Librarian-tendencies. Eve has always been more than a Guardian from day 1. She’s always been a part of putting together the puzzles, and she’s always been interested in way more than just protecting the Librarians. And she’s been hinted to be very knowledgeable in certain areas too(biblical info, theatre/Shakespeare, film noir movies), and very passionate about that information that she has. And I don’t know how to word it, but she’s definitely got Librarianisms in her.
Flynn is another really interesting one, because Flynn is a protector, and that’s how I said we were going to look at the Guardian job. According to Library law, the Guardian protects the Librarian and the Librarian protects the Library...but Flynn has protected his Guardian, and the other Librarians as well. Flynn is a protector in general. He stops at nothing to save and protect people, and he repeatedly puts his own life on the line to do so. I mean that move in Dark Secret to save Nicole...that’s very telling to his personality, but perhaps to more as well, and there lies the theory.
Cassandra as a Guardian is something I’d love to play with for the same kind of reasons that I say so with Flynn(Cassandra is a lot like Flynn so that makes sense). I mean, for me, right out of the gate when Cassie sacrifices her cure to save Flynn’s life, that settles her potential to be a Guardian right there. She’s really gentle with others too, and knows how to get through to people. She’s urgent in trying to protect the people she loves(getting Jenkins out of the box, getting Flynn out of the vortex) and I think that motivation and drive and compassion certainly lines up with the “protector” role of a Guardian
Jake could clearly be a Guardian in physical skill. Jake might be the most obvious example of “he could be a Librarian or a Guardian”. But again, looking at job description, Jake is a protector. He’s just....oh gosh I can’t even. I don’t even need to say anything. Jake protects everyone. I can’t even describe it. Jake could be an amazing Guardian.
And Ezekiel....well he’s not your typical Librarian to begin with now is he? He’s doesn’t have the typical type of “intelligence”, but he’s a Librarian because he’s an expert in his field. Ezekiel himself kind of gives weight to this “job description over skill set” concept. In terms of being a Guardian though...he just wants to do good in the world. He really does. “Christmas Thief” demonstrates that, and the “little brother” speech in Point of Salvation really drives home what I’m trying to say for him. Imagine Guardian Ezekiel. Just imagine it.
What I’m really getting at here is that they don’t all just have the potential to be Librarians or Guardians, they already fulfill both the roles in different ways. It seems the Library has become different in that there’s not so much a strict divide of the job titles anymore. They all work to solve the cases and they all protect, and they’re really turning the Library into a team effort in a different way than it ever has been. Their personalities, their multiple layers, their abilities to Librarian and to protect, allow that to happen. That makes them the greatest team to ever enter the Library, and that allows them to rewrite the rules.

So I watched last nights episode just now... and I'll get past my dislike of unnecessary rushed romance once again but like ugh
So here's some highlights (in no particular order):
-Jenkins being sick was hilarious, poor thing is experiencing life to its foulest
-Jacob was a deer in headlights when he saw Sarina (which I think I could like the ship given time and unrushed plot)
-Cassandra pranking Ezekiel was hilarious, until it wasn't. (Even I know drugging him was too far)
-this weird grumpy hate Ezekiel has for camp? What happened to you, Jones?
-it's ok Cassandra. Ezekiel just has camp ptsd or something. Go prank Jacob.
-Ezekiel and Cassandra's 'talent show'
-I'm pretty sure that if you want someone to speak for you, you don't put them in immense pain with a splinter as you whisper them into disorientation!
-Eve and Jacob talking about Flynn
-also did Jacob get that splinter out of his hand? And can he still communicate with the trees every now and then?
-those vines grabbing him like oops gotta go the trees need me
-the dosa guy like "why don't you tell us what you know" all trying to be nonchalant
-Rockwell brags about Baird (its canon)
-Jacob literally falling in love (how can you make that adorable?)
-Eve is like channeling the romantic love she had for Flynn into sisterly love for Stone (like dang somebody is getting her love!)
-Ezekiel taught Jacob how to pick locks, and fast too. I wonder how long that took him?
-well according to Cassandra we now know Jacob knows 64 dialects (holy cow man)
-all those people in the trees...were they taken because the trees thought they could help? And what now for the ones who obviously had been there for a looooong time?
-Jacob looking like grandma willow in Pocahontas
-Sarina wrote about a secret magical society and didn't expect to get fired? Like bro, even I know if you want to keep your job you talk about stuff like that on the internet where people don't know you.
-he showed her the Library? You've known her for a day, Jacob! Stop falling head over heels for women you don't know that well! SHES A REPORTER BRO maybe she might keep your secret maybe she won't I mean YOU BARELY KNOW HER (well at least no one would believe her or dosa would shut it down if she did write about it)
-yeah they could've not had Sarina in that episode and made it more about the lits bonding and realizing that the one librarian thing is crap but oh my bad im projecting my feelings again don't mind me
-Jacob Stone: art historian, cowboy, lover of poems, hopeless romantic, speaker for the trees.
-also I never want to go to camp again because the head guy just covered up those disappearances and what's to say he won't do it again?
Okay that's all I got for now. Thoughts? Got something you like? Something you didn't like? Theories?

and the Hospital’s almost Reveal
Now I want an episode where they have a mission in a hospital. This hospital has all the best of what any community would need and has a trust to make sure no one dies or gets substandard health care just because they can’t afford it. But something is going wrong and they are all there (Flynn included).
No one knows what confuses them more, the case or the fact they keep getting bumped into/dirty looks (especially by the highest ups)...except for Ezekiel everyone is polite to Ezekiel. Maybe they didn’t like one of the thief comments they made about him.
After they complete the mission they end up in a hallway that is dedicated to all the people that donated to the hospital but in there is the weirdest most nonsensical sentence with random very very slightly bolded words.
“Jeez with the strength of lions we will never have to eke out the best health care.
Cassandra: Flynn is it just me or are there slightly bolded words that are an anagram of Ezekiel Jones?
Flynn: No I see that too but that can’t be. It has to be a different Ezekiel Jones because the only other explanation is ours sold the Crown Jewels of Amenhotep and a few other things and donated the money here since this was soon after that.
Everyone turns to Ezekiel.
Ezekiel: Of course my name would be anagramed in there, I am just that awesome.
Everyone turns around muttering of course it just has to be a coincidence before the camera focuses on Ezekiel for a moment where no one can see him and he gains that should I tell them look? Nah while thinking that is the last time he gives anyplace he donates to info on who he is no matter how much they promise to keep it a secret if they are gonna do things like this.

"The Librarians and the Silver Screen" notes (not real-time, so shorter than usual):
Flynn and Eve are good together in this one, I like it. Some cute moments, and they're being good partners.
(Though also it did take them a whole day of rattling the bars in their one-room set before they figured out that they needed to move the plot forward. :P)
Why does Jenkins know all about this obscure director. I assumed the guy was already mixed up in magic somehow, but that never came up, so is Jenkins just a secret movie buff? Did he know the guy personally?? Questions.
I still don't think Ezekiel consciously remembers "Point of Salvation" but at this point I have decided he's acquired a specific, extra-strong aversion to having any of his people in danger without him. They can be out of his reach or in a dangerous situation, but not both at once, and we get another example of that here.
We also get an "Ezekiel" from Jenkins—his first onscreen use of the name since Santa's Midnight Run! Yes I'm keeping track of that. Now I just need him to use Jacob's first name at some point, any point, before the end of the season.
Oh look. Jacob found an opportunity to be a singing cowboy. He can cross another square off of his Christian Kane Character Bingo card!
That said, the bad sci-fi movie was my favorite, I think. And good for Cassandra, having it memorized.
Also, another minor point of immunity for Ezekiel—it's not big enough to be called attention to in-story, but he was definitely the least susceptible to the Narratives they were trapped in.

Worlds Collide Chapter 27 & 28
Chapter 27
Ezekiel walked into the annex to see Flynn sitting at the desk and Jacob was sitting on the stairs. It was eerily quiet. He passed Eve about a half hour ago in the hallway. She didn’t seem to notice him as she almost ran into him. Ezekiel went up to Flynn and asked, “What is going on here? Eve just nearly ran into me. Before you try to say anything, I was not on my phone.”
Flynn just said, “Not now, Jones.” Flynn got up and headed toward the door.
Ezekiel followed behind Flynn. “Hey, I wanted to ask about what happened with our little visitor.”
Flynn stopped in the hallway. He looked at Ezekiel and said, “Let me guess, you were watching our interaction, too?”
“What? No, a mate told me that things got heated,” Ezekiel replied.
“What do you mean a mate told you,” asked Flynn.
“Okay, I know you told us we couldn’t have friends, but I never met anyone who was on my level as a hacker and thief,” replied Ezekiel.
“Jones, who have you been talking to,” asked Flynn.
“Parker and Hardison,” replied Ezekiel. “We talk mostly about things we’ve stolen or hacked. Remember that dagger I was stealing when the Serpent Brotherhood tried to kill me?”
“You mean the one you almost got caught stealing,” replied Flynn.
“Yeah, whatever. They all went after the same dagger, twice. Anyway, I was just messaging Parker, when she said Eliot came into the brew pub cursing your name,” replied Ezekiel.
“We are really going to need to have a talk about what it means to be a Librarian. Does nobody listen when I said no friends outside the library? Jones, go wait with Stone in the annex and don’t leave,” said Flynn.
After watching Ezekiel head back into the annex, Flynn went to find Jenkins in the lab. Flynn told Jenkins the plan to which Jenkins said it was a bad idea. Flynn finally convinced Jenkins and they went to the annex to find Jacob and Ezekiel still waiting there. Both looking as confused as ever. Then Flynn pulled Ezekiel aside to tell him the plan. Flynn hated to admit it, but he did need a little bit of Ezekiel’s help to pull it off fully. Ezekiel got on his phone and put some pieces together.
When they rejoined Jenkins and Jacob, Eve was walking in the room with Cassandra behind. When Cassandra saw Flynn, she asked, “Why is he here? Is he going?”
Eve replied, “We’re all going.”
Cassandra said, “I’m not going if he’s going,” and she turned to leave, but Eve stopped her.
“Going where,” asked Jacob.
“We are going to go have a nice dinner and talk this out,” said Eve.
“Why do I have to go? I am fine with everything,” said Jacob.
“And I am fine with how things are. I can work with everyone here. Doesn’t mean we have to be anything more,” said Cassandra.
“I am not,” said Flynn, “And Stone we know what you have been doing.”
“Huh? You’ve been spying on me? That is wrong on so many levels,” replied Jacob.
Eve said, “We were worried about you, about both of you. You are our family and we just want you to be alright.”
Before Cassandra or Jacob could say another word, Flynn clapped his hands together and said, “Okay, Jenkins, you got that door set.”
“Yes, sir. Are you sure this is the right,” Jenkins paused and looked at Cassandra and Jacob and continued, “place to go?”
“Yes,” replied Flynn, “Jones, all set?”
Ezekiel nodded as Jenkins set the door.
“Where are we going,” asked Jacob.
“You’ll see,” Flynn said as he stepped through the door.
Chapter 28
Maggie walked into the brew pub to see it empty. She saw Hardison and Parker setting up a few tables and Sophie and Nate were bringing out plates and silverware. Eliot was in the kitchen cooking. “What’s going on,” she asked.
Hardison replied, “We decided to close down early tonight and have a family dinner. And since you are living here now and part of our family, we invited you.”
“Okay? There are six of us, why are you putting out so many chairs and place settings,” Maggie asked.
“Don’t ask,” said Eliot as he came in carrying a few platters of food. “I asked them why we needed so much food and no one will answer me.”
Eliot went to grab more food and Maggie followed him. “What do you think is going on,” she asked.
“I don’t know,” replied Eliot, “I told them I wasn’t up to having dinner, but they insisted on it.”
Maggie nodded and said, “How are you doing?”
“I’m fine,” he said and stiffly grabbed a plate of food.
She took the plate from him and lightly touched his arm. “Eliot,” she said, “I can see you are not fine.”
“I just miss her,” Eliot replied.
“Have you talk to her,” she asked.
He shook his head no and said, “I’ve tried to talk to her every day, but either she won’t, or they won’t let her see me. I know it must be hard on you to not see him, too.”
Maggie looked at Eliot and said, “I actually saw him today.”
“You what,” said Eliot.
“I’ve been keeping it a secret, but we’ve been texting each other for almost a month now and we decided to meet for lunch,” Maggie replied.
“What did he have to say,” asked Eliot.
“He told me that we couldn’t be together and that it would probably be best if we didn’t text each other anymore. I could see he didn’t really want to give up on us,”
Before Eliot could respond Hardison came into the kitchen. Hardison said, “What is taking so long? We are getting hungry and our guests should be arriving soon.”
“Guests. What guests,” asked Eliot as he and Maggie exchanged looks.
“Oh, me and Parker invited a few friends over. Come on, we’re waiting,” replied Hardison and he grabbed the plate from Maggie and left quickly.
Maggie and Eliot followed Hardison out to the tables. They were just putting down the plates when they heard the bathroom door opened. They turned around and what they saw shocked them. Standing outside the bathroom door stood Flynn.

Magic Analysis: Flynn Carson
As per my other Librarians posts analyzing magic and the Librarians, here’s a post regarding Flynn Carson, the Librarian, and Magic.
[Related posts: Eve Baird, Ezekiel Jones, Cassandra Cillian, Jacob Stone, Jenkins, and Other Characters]
Times Magic Got Flynn
01x01 And the Crown of King Arthur - Flynn triggers an “ancient death trap” meant to protect the Opal of Samara. (He later successfully un-triggers it, collecting the Opal.) He’s slashed by Excalibur, and he drinks Bathsheba's Oil of Healing to buy himself some time.
01x05 And the Apple of Discord - Flynn turns into the worst version of himself when he touches the Apple of Discord.
02x05 And the Hollow Men - Flynn is put to sleep by Pan’s Flute. Twice. ** See: Other Suspicious Magical Stuff: 02x05 And the Hollow Men and 04x01 And the Dark Secret **
02x09 And the Happily Ever Afters - Flynn attempts to draw Eve, Ezekiel, Stone, Cassandra, and even Moriarty out of the “happily ever after” spell that Prospero put on them all. Despite successfully helping them break the spell, Flynn himself is pulled into his own “happily ever after.” ** See Other Suspicious Magical Stuff: 02x09 And the Happily Ever Afters **
02x10 And the Final Curtain - Flynn travels back through time with a glass globe artifact, which for reasons unknown shatters in the present, preventing him from returning. ** See also Other Suspicious Magical Stuff: 02x10 And the Final Curtain. **
03x01 And the Rise of Chaos - Apep’s Chaotic Radius Power affects Flynn. Twice.
03x07 And the Curse of Cindy - Flynn is the first of Team Librarians to be exposed to and fall under Cindy’s Love Potion/Obsession Spell. When Jenkins tries a potion to reverse its effects, it backfires and makes Flynn enamored of Stone, though the effects are not entirely the same. Eventually, Jenkins comes up with a counter-potion to eliminate the effects and return Flynn to his normal state.
04x02 And the Steal of Fortune - Flynn continually tries and fails to get the mirror connections to work. It is also implied that he breaks the Magic Back Door when he tries to set a door for Eve and the other Librarians. It’s unclear if he’s simply being clumsy, or if his recent doubts about himself and/or the Library were at play.
04x04 And the Silver Screen - Flynn gets dragged into a movie with Eve by way of an artifact.
Times Magic Tried to Get Flynn and Failed
03x02 And the Fangs of Death - At the end of the episode, all the werewolves surround Flynn, but none of them attack him. Even though they were an attack-first-and-ask-questions-later kind of group for pretty much the entire episode. There’s really no good reason not to attack him.
Other Suspicious Magical Stuff
01x02 And the Sword in the Stone - Flynn spends most of the episode slowly bleeding to death from Excalibur’s wound. Bathsheba's Oil of Healing should’ve bought him time, but he must’ve survived over a day with his injury. (They didn’t have the Magic Back Door up yet, so they would’ve had to fly from Portland, OR to London, which takes about 10 hours.) Flynn instructs Cassandra on how to use the now-dying Excalibur to save herself, but she uses it on him instead, healing him of a wound that, according to Flynn himself “will never heal.” It wasn’t entirely clear if Flynn didn’t say that he could be healed with the same magic because he thought it was time for him to die or if he simply didn’t know if it would work.
01x10 And the Loom of Fate - At least one version of Flynn Carson was able to maintain his memories/self across multiple threads of existence. According to Jenkins, Eve was able to do this because she had experienced something similar in 01x04 And Santa’s Midnight Ride, which laid the groundwork of her holding up under similar circumstances. As far as we know, Flynn hasn’t had such an experience, which is why there was an alternate!Flynn to begin with. But how did alternate!Flynn do it? Even the other alternate!Librarians had to be brought into alternate!Cassandra’s thread purposely; but alternate!Flynn and Eve traveled from alternate!Stone’s to alternate!Ezekiel’s thread and then from alternate!Ezekiel’s to alternate!Cassandra’s thread essentially by accident. (Perhaps Eve somehow served as a kind of totem/talisman/protective agent for alternate!Flynn.)
02x02 And the Broken Staff - Flynn successfully tricks Prospero into thinking he destroyed the Tree of Knowledge, when, in fact, he destroyed a different tree. He says it’s probably important, but so far, it hasn’t been remarked upon since.
02x05 And the Hollow Men - In this episode, the Library itself says it can never hurt a Librarian. Apparently this is true, even if hurting a Librarian would save the Library.
02x09 And the Happily Ever Afters - Flynn’s happily ever after was initially broken by True Love’s Kiss with Eve. ** See Times Magic Got Flynn: 02x09 And the Happily Ever Afters **
02x10 And the Final Curtain - Flynn wields new!Excalibur against Prospero, finally breaking his staff. (There is no explanation for the fact that new!Excalibur was forged even though old!Excalibur still existed at this time and was likely at the Library.) He then does time-travel the long way around by having Shakespeare use his pen/staff one last time to turn him, Eve, and new!Excalibur into a statue for about four hundred years. ** See also Times Magic Got Flynn: 02x10 And the Final Curtain. **
03x06 And the Trial of the Triangle - Flynn was the only one who used the “magic tic-tac,” an untried and untested magic, to traverse the unstable wormhole. He was also safely ejected back to the Library from the triangle with no explanation.
03x08 And the Eternal Question - Flynn, with Jenkin’s help, sets up a “surprise date”/“that vacation we keep talking about” for Eve that probably uses some kind of magic artifacts, though the details are left out. Despite all the dire warnings and hesitation about using magic... Flynn and Jenkins use it. Also, there were no downsides/repercussions for using whatever magic they used (There’s debate over the reasons Flynn set this up. Some think it’s so Flynn could propose to Eve. I believe it was so he could tell her about the cost of using the Eye of Ra.)
03x10 And the Wrath of Chaos - Flynn uses a magic staff that breaks the bridge/pass so Eve and the others cannot follow him. He then uses the Eve of Ra to stop Apep from releasing the force of True Evil. It takes a long time to work. Long enough for the other Librarians to come up with a plan that included Ezekiel finding and grabbing some of Cindy’s love potion (unless he was just carrying it around with him?) as well as finding and using a beam so they could pass the broken part of the bridge. Yet, once Apep is human, Flynn flings the Eye of Ra at him, it embeds in his forehead, and he falls off the bridge... working almost instantaneously. So the question is, why did the Eye of Ra take so long to work when Flynn was the sacrifice?
04x01 And the Dark Secret - When Pan’s Flute plays during the Tethering Ceremony practice, nobody falls asleep (Stone, Cassandra, Flynn, Eve, Ezekiel, and Jenkins are all present).
Remarks
I haven’t included anything from the three movies yet.
I’ll update this post with more commentary later.
