i worked for a large american technology company which sold business machines internationally for close to a decade until laid off in successful accounting fraud scheme a few years ago. started as developer, erm, pardon me, i started as

which is a role similar to routinely-executed court jester and human meatwave conscript meant to soak up enemy bullets to cause exhaustion of enemy bullet supply and finally guy that comes in big gross truck with a pump and a tank and a big hose used to suck the shit+piss out of portable toilet/malfunctioning sewer etc. this is for when you are 20 years old or so and they hit you with this work to calm your ass down a bit. my case was cloud bullshit on ancient rickety php stack. 5% keystrokes/clicks are php, 95% remainder is jira and other members of the axis of evil. LOT of dick sucking and butt fucking. Going into men's bathroom and making eye contact with cubicle neighbor before entering stall and fearlessly making disgusting noises. microwaving fish lunch thrice daily. you get the idea. meager paycheck but six figures takehome technically

no pay increase no workload increase but now manager emails you about extremely, extremely personal issues he's facing and also makes his most difficult problems from his boss your problems. one week will pass and then they will hit you with the "we're considering you for a team lead position". answer:

April 22nd, 2055 - Henad 2 Post-Mission Cumulative Report (SOME INFO NOT FOR PUBLIC RELEASE)
The GSRG's first ever crewed suborbital flight, Henad 2, took place earlier this evening, launching at 08:02:51 Putiyana local time and splashing down only 18 minutes and 49 seconds later. The astronaut piloting the vessel, Grisgia Striseo, enjoyed a comfortable flight onboard the newly developed Salt 3 rocket.

The Salt 3 rocket, designed by our partner laboratories, is the first step in our plan to develop an internationally linked space effort. As of now, the reach of the GSRG is small, but negotiations with multiple governments for cooperation on future missions have already begun.
Henad 2 followed the Henad 1's unmanned test flight as the first crewed flight of the GSRG to escape Ulina's atmosphere. Grisgia Yaoi Striseo was the lucky astronaut who took the first step into space for our organization. Striseo has flown over 2,000 hours in the Royal Vau'senaan Air Force and is one of the first 3 astronauts we have recruited into our crewed programs. They are a 39-year-old non-binary Caticani native, who excelled over our 2 other astronauts in training to be chosen as this mission's pilot.

Launch day in Pulunadu was clear with few clouds, relieving worries from the day prior of storms. As the Salt 3 rocket blasted through the atmosphere, flight controllers at our facilities on the ground prepared for the next portion of staging.

Stage 1 separation separates the Service and Command modules from the Salt 3 launch vehicle after it has depleted all of its fuel, halfway through its journey out of the atmosphere. For this mission, the Service module only held small fuel cells and oxygen/ RCS fuel reserves, however in an orbital flight would perform the final burn to establish an orbit. So, the module was detached shortly after reaching its highest altitude, and the command module began using its own life support system reserves.

Following this, the command module's atmospheric reentry began, its flat end reinforced with heat-resistant materials to take the brunt of the extreme heat forces. Then, once it had reached a suitable point in altitude, the drogue parachutes deployed, quickly slowing the capsule down before main parachute deployment.
Due to pre-flight calculation errors the craft performed an unplanned water landing, when originally meant to land in Rilhan. However, recovery was unencumbered. Striseo left the capsule in good spirits and in nominal condition.

Grisgia Striseo was all smiles for the cameras that awaited their safe recovery aboard the large trawler that acts as the GSRG's apparent recovery boat. Seeming chipper as ever, a quick interview with (a suspiciously-soaked) Striseo in the aftermath of their feat revealed that they are "Interested, but not certain" on the possibilities of returning as pilot on future GSRG missions. Head of Operations at GSRG, Maksyi Kozymazhets, expressed jovial congratulations to Striseo and extensive optimism for the organization's future. "Everyone on our team is so proud of what we have accomplished here today, and even more so for Grisgia's resolve and stability throughout the challenging mission we have just completed. This, surely, is the sign that more success is inevitable, and that amazing feats are due for our subsequent programs! The team that- We have built- is one I trust to drive the WHOLE of Ulina towards an incredible realization of our potential in space and the industry around it."
An unofficial statement from a recovery team member about the water landing:
'It was from my point of view that I saw the command module, as soon as it touched down in the Strait of Celany, tipping over on its side. Which is, if you can't tell, really not supposed to happen. This meant water pretty much filled the capsule instantly as it opened up so Striseo could get out. The capsule was unrecoverable. I'd say it probably needs a redesign.'

I got a new scholarship but it is unsure if I will qualify for financial aid due to my existing scholarships, I am nevertheless proud of being one of the 10 people accepted out of almost 300 applicants
Funny thing though: I actually had a lucid dream for a short while. I remember being a god, creating a new world which had an incredibly interesting way with languages. While flying over cities, I reached something looking similar to Paris, however it was as if the buildings hadn't loaded in yet, the upper half of the Eiffeltower missing and so on. I decided to slow down my rapid flight to wait for the city to reveal itself and while doing so, I realised I was in a dream. It was actually very nice being lucid again, even if only for a short while. Even though fake-Paris soon disappeared, I realised that my world lacked realism and made sure all the dark buildings were filled with lights as a real city would have it. Then, descending down into the actual town, I tried (and partly) succeeded to create light in my hand because it was quite dark. While it did work, it went out shortly after. One of the locals then came up to me, showing me how to create a burst of flame in my hand.
"You need to focus your anger.", he said, making a high flame appear. I tried. It worked. But it was hard to control such a flame close to my hand and I was almost afraid of burning myself.
The dream goes on afterwards, into a strange kind of travel dream including my friends and in the end even my mother and an expensive, uncharacteristically wide bottle of glass containing small orange fruits and water that shatters because a certain wave frequency is placed against it in the perfect rhythm, but I wasn't consciously there for those parts.
It's been long since I have been lucid in a dream. I would love to practise it again. I will incorporate RCs into my daily life again, luckily I have quite a bit of experience with lucid dreaming.

But this does not explain my sleepless night. I am having the theory that it's the high amount of Jasmin tea I am drinking which contains caffeine - but I cannot prove it, especially since the amount in Jasmin tea is actually lower than other teas.
I will simply try not falling asleep today and fixing my sleep schedule by going to be early.
I didn't go for a run yesterday, because I felt extremely tired after uni. It's on top of my priority list for today.
I am annoyed I am lacking behind in my schedule but it's okay. I will just start studying now in the hopes of somehow catching up.

Science fact of the day- Titan!
While I do dearly love our Luna, there is one moon that I love just a bit more, and that's saturn's Titan. Titan is the second largest moon in our solar system, although for a long time, it was actually thought to be the largest for a very peculiar reason: it has a thick atmosphere. the presence of an atmosphere is very strange because, as i've talked about in other science facts, small bodies are usually unable to hold onto an atmosphere. this is why our moon, as well as every single other moon in our solar system does not have an atmosphere (technically, they have a light collection of particles, but its so thin its practically a vacuum). But Titan? it has an atmosphere- and not just a small little one. it's thicker than earth's. by about 1.5 times. whats even more incredible about this is that because titan has about 1/6th of earth's gravity, this atmosphere is far less compressed compared to earth's, meaning that if the same atmosphre was under earth-like gravity, it would be around 7 or 8 times thicker, iirc. but because it's under low gravity, the atmosphere extends hundreds of kilometers into space- even at a distance of nearly 1000 kilometers, Cassini had to make adjustments to maintain its planned trajectory. This atmosphere is composed mostly of nitrogen (about 95%), and the rest is mostly methane (5%), alongside minute trace gases. the methane is primarily what gives it its haze, and this haze is why early astronomers thought titan was larger than the actual largest moon, Ganymede, because the two are so similar in size.
but there's one more thing that makes titan even more interesting than its unique atmosphere. In our solar system, there are exactly two bodies with stable surface liquid- of course there's Earth, but Titan has it as well. but it's not water. Titan is very far from the sun (about 10 times) and recieves only about 1% of the sunlight that Earth does, and most of this sunlight will never reach the surface as it's scattered by the atmosphere, meaning its extremely cold on the surface. so cold, in fact, that Methane, normally a gas on Earth, condesnses and rains down into rivers and lakes. the largest lake, called the Kraken Mare (badass name btw) is bigger than the caspian sea. its fucking enourmous.

because of Titans many unique traits, scientists really wanna know whats goin on down there. in 1997, Cassini-Huygens launches, a dual part mission. Cassini (my favorite space mission) was an orbiter which studied Saturn, while Huygens fell into Titan's atmosphere and landed on the surface, providing a grand total of 2 hours worth of data. however, we're going back. in 2027, my favorite upcoming space mission, Dragonfly is set to launch towards saturn, and will arrive in 2034. it'll slow down in the atmosphere with a heat shield, and then land using it's drone-style propeller blades. because this thing is built like an RC drone. because of titan's thick atmosphere and low gravity, it's perfect for flying around in. in fact, it's more than 10 times easier to fly around on titan than it is on Earth. Dragonfly will preform a flight roughly ever 2 weeks, during which it will travel several kilometers, flying straight over otherwise difficult obstacles such as sand dunes and mountain ridges. it'll study the chemisty of Titan's atmosphere and surface, including looking for signs of life. While life as we know it lives in water, it's somewhat possible that life could live on titan using methane as its solvent, and breathing hydrogen gas in order to gain energy. it's entirely speculative but Dragonfly aims to look for whether or not its even a possibilty, or if we're lucky, observe signs that it does exist.

- However, many ghouls are underfed given all the different issues when it comes to obtaining food. Ghouls can either stretch their intake of 90 - 150 lbs (or one adult/adolescent human body) to 3 or even 4 months, or they can reduce their 2 month intake to 80 lbs or less.
- Underfeeding takes a physical toll on ghouls’ bodies, affecting their superhuman strength, stamina, senses, durability, and regenerative capabilities. Significantly underfed ghouls will begin to lose kagune mass and capability, and can easily be both outlasted and overpowered by other ghouls with a proper diet.
- Ghouls are also capable of greatly exceeding their required food intake with beneficial rather than detrimental results. Ghouls can consume double, triple, quadruple, or even more of their required bimonthly food intake, and this excess intake is processed into higher Rc cell levels, which in turn translate into better physical performance and greater kagune mass/capability.
- A ghoul’s activity level greatly influences their required food intake. A ghoul who is very active - frequently using their kagune in strenuous fights and healing severe injuries, for example - will need more food to compensate for the higher number of Rc cells they use.
- Ghoul bodies are capable of hyper digesting and metabolizing their food, which is to say that they break down the meat they consume and convert it into energy and Rc cells remarkably quickly. This allows them to eat more in shorter periods of time and obtain the energy and nutrients they need from that food far faster than humans.
- This hyper digestion and metabolism are affected by neurochemical communication between the body and the brain. They are slowed down when the body is in a healthy, neutral state, and kicked into overdrive by distressing factors such as starvation, grievous injury, or activated stress responses - e.g. the fight-or-flight response or hyper arousal.
- Obesity is extremely rare in ghouls, with an obese individual needing to be both incredibly over fed and incredibly inactive in both in physical activity and use of Rc cells. These are two circumstances that are very hard to attain but for a select few ghouls in positions of great security and power.
- Ghoul mothers breastfeed their infants an Rc cell and nutrient rich liquid naturally produced by their bodies after pregnancy for about the first 2 or 3 months, after which teething occurs and the baby is introduced to soft human tissue and liquids like the brain and blood.
- Ghouls are highly resistant to the majority of human disease and illnesses, either being immune via cellular/genetic incompatibility or having immune systems capable of destroying infections which would overwhelm that of a human’s. Becuase of this, contracting an infection or disease from eating an afflicted human is a very rare occurrence, although ghouls who themselves have weakened immune systems via starvation or genetic ailments are at a higher risk.
- On a purely biological level of scent and taste, all ghouls greatly desire and enjoy fresh and raw human meat; however, some ghouls may choose not to eat fresh/raw meat due to guilt or disgust stemming from morality and/or empathy, and many ghouls also enjoy meat and other tissues prepared in a variety of different ways.

Rockwell B-1 Lancer
The Rockwell B-1 Lancer is a supersonic variable-sweep wing, heavy bomber used by the United States Air Force. It is commonly called the "Bone" (from "B-One"). It is one of three strategic bombers in the U.S. Air Force fleet as of 2018, the other two being the B-2 Spirit "Stealth Bomber", and the B-52 Stratofortress.

The B-1 has a blended wing bodyconfiguration, with variable-sweep wing, four turbofan engines, triangular fin control surfaces and cruciform tail. The wings can sweep from 15 degrees to 67.5 degrees (full forward to full sweep). Forward-swept wing settings are used for takeoff, landings and high-altitude maximum cruise. Aft-swept wing settings are used in high subsonic and supersonic flight. The B-1's variable-sweep wings and thrust-to-weight ratio provide it with improved takeoff performance, allowing it to use shorter runways than previous bombers. The length of the aircraft presented a flexing problem due to air turbulence at low altitude. To alleviate this, Rockwell included small triangular fin control surfaces or vanes near the nose on the B-1. The B-1's Structural Mode Control System rotates the vanes automatically to counteract turbulence and smooth out the ride.

Unlike the B-1A, the B-1B cannot reach Mach 2+ speeds; its maximum speed is Mach 1.25 (about 950 mph or 1,530 km/h at altitude), but its low-level speed increased to Mach 0.92 (700 mph, 1,130 km/h). The speed of the current version of the aircraft is limited by the need to avoid damage to its structure and air intakes. To help lower its radar cross section (RCS), the B-1B uses serpentine air intake ducts (see S-duct) and fixed intake ramps, which limit its speed compared to the B-1A. Vanes in the intake ducts serve to deflect and shield radar emissions from the highly reflective engine compressor blades.

The B-1A's engine was modified slightly to produce the GE F101-102 for the B-1B, with an emphasis on durability, and increased efficiency. The core of this engine has since been re-used in several other engine designs, including the GE F110 which has seen use in the F-14 Tomcat, F-15K/SGvariants and most recent versions of the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon. It is also the basis for the non-afterburning GE F118 used in the B-2 Spirit and the U-2S.The F101 engine was the basis for the core of the extremely popular CFM56 civil engine, which can be found on some versions of practically every small-to-medium-sized airliner. The nose gear cover door has controls for the auxiliary power units (APUs), which allow for quick starts of the APUs upon order to scramble.

The B-1's defensive electronics include the Eaton AN/ALQ-161A radar warning and defensive jamming equipment, which has three sets of antennas; one at the front base of each wing and the third rear-facing in the tail radome. Also in the tail radome is the AN/ALQ-153 missile approach warning system (pulse-Doppler radar). The ALQ-161 is linked to a total of eight AN/ALE-49 flare dispensers located on top behind the canopy, which are handled by the AN/ASQ-184 avionics management system. Each AN/ALE-49 dispenser has a capacity of 12 MJU-23A/B flares. The MJU-23A/B flare is one of the world's largest infrared countermeasure flares at a weight of over 3.3 pounds (1.5 kg). The B-1 has also been equipped to carry the ALE-50 towed decoy system.

Also aiding the B-1's survivability is its relatively low radar cross-section (RCS). Although not technically a stealth aircraft in a comprehensive sense, thanks to the aircraft's structure, serpentine intake paths and use of radar-absorbent material its RCS is about 1/50th of the similar sized B-52's RCS; this is about 26 ft² or 2.4 m², roughly equivalent to the RCS of a small fighter aircraft.

The B-1 has been upgraded since production, beginning with the "Conventional Mission Upgrade Program" (CMUP), which added a new MIL-STD-1760 smart-weapons interface to enable the use of precision-guided conventional weapons. CMUP began with Block A, which was the standard B-1B with the capability to deliver non-precision gravity bombs. Block B brought an improved Synthetic Aperture Radar, and upgrades to the Defensive Countermeasures System and was fielded in 1995. Block C provided an "enhanced capability" for delivery of up to 30 cluster bomb units (CBUs) per sortie with modifications made to 50 bomb racks.

Block D added a "Near Precision Capability" via improved weapons and targeting systems, and added advanced secure communications capabilities. The first part of the electronic countermeasures upgrade added Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM), ALE-50 towed decoy system, and anti-jam radios. Block E upgraded the avionics computers and incorporated the Wind Corrected Munitions Dispenser (WCMD), the AGM-154 Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW) and the AGM-158 JASSM (Joint Air to Surface Standoff Munition), substantially improving the bomber's capability. Upgrades were completed in September 2006. Block F was the Defensive Systems Upgrade Program (DSUP) to improve the aircraft's electronic countermeasures and jamming capabilities, but it was canceled in December 2002 due to cost overruns and schedule slips.

In 2005, a program began to upgrade crew stations and integrate data linking. A B-1 equipped with the fully integrated data link (FIDL) first flew on 29 July 2009; the FIDL enables electronic data sharing, eliminating the need to enter information between systems by hand. In January 2013, Boeing delivered the first integrated battle station (IBS) equipped B-1. This replaced several displays with new multi-function color display units, an upgraded central integrated test system, and a newer aircraft performance monitoring computer. In June 2012, the B-1Bs are receiving Sustainment-Block 16 upgrades to add Link 16 networking and digital flight instrumentation.

In 2007, the Sniper XR targeting pod was integrated on the B-1 fleet. The pod is mounted on an external hardpoint at the aircraft's chin near the forward bomb bay.Following accelerated testing, the Sniper pod was fielded in summer 2008. Future precision munitions include the Small Diameter Bomb. In 2011, the Air Force was considering upgrading B-1s with multiple ejector racks so that they can carry three times as many smaller JDAMs than previously.

Gear up Kerbonauts, engineers are required for some in situ reassembling! Stack up your inventory with parts and tools in order to prepare for any contingencies. With a reimagining of the game’s inventory system and the introduction of a new EVA construction mode, KSP is here with new content for everyone! 
Kerbal Space Program 1.11: Some Reassembly Required is the game’s latest major free update and with it, we’re adding some significant and game changing elements that give players added flexibility and a more immersive KSP experience. Pack an inventory for your missions and modify your crafts or even assemble a new vehicle on the spot with the help of your engineers, or bring an EVA Science Experiment Kit and have your Kerbals undertake fun animated experiments. In addition to some new parts, visual enhancements, and some bug-fixing, Some Reassembly Required continues to enrich the KSP experience.
Let’s go through some of the update’s highlights below:
EVA Construction Mode
This mode gives your engineers tools similar to what you find in the VAB/SPH to manipulate parts in their inventory or within their range while on EVA in any location. Need to make some adjustments to your Vallerian SSTO, or build an improvised Munar rover in situ? Now you can!

New Lights and RCSs
Some Reassembly Required adds new lights parts to the game, including some smaller, physics-less lights as well as a couple of deployable lights that work without the need for an attached craft or EC power source. You closed your eyes and let the salty breeze rush over your face. This familiar feeling caused every muscle in your body to relax. You drew in a breath as you shuffled out of your sandals and curled your feet, taking in the sensation of the sand between your toes. Just as you were about to take a step forward and run down to the ocean that you had missed so much your aunt called from the balcony.
“Honey it’s almost nine you have to log on to your class”
You nodded, turning back to the sea and shuffling back into your sandals. As you started to walk back up to the new house on Figure Eight that you now shared with your aunt and uncle you muttered under your breath “How did I get here?”
Under devastating circumstances you returned to the outer banks about a month ago. Seven months ago your parents were killed by a drunk driver on their way home from a date night. Shattering your heart and turning your life upside down for the second time in the sixteen years you had been alive. The death of your parents left your aunt and uncle to be your legal guardians. They allowed you to finish out your junior year of high school, but decided they should move “the family” to a place that was more familiar to you. So they bought a house through a real estate agent named Rose Cameron and once school finished in June you were supposedly coming home to the outer banks. However, your aunt and uncle were extremely successful accountants and unlike you and your parents did not have to work two jobs to make ends meet. Their money meant that you were actually the closest and the farthest from home you had ever been. Sure you were back in the outer banks but instead of your real home on the cut with the Pogues you were now living in figure eight, technically a kook, and had to do summer work to ensure your place at the kook academy in the fall.
The night you got to the outer banks, your real estate agent Rose, who was now a good friend of your aunt’s, insisted on having you at Tanny Hill for dinner. Barely awake after the flight, stressed out of your mind at everything you had to do, and hollow from the loss of your parents and the feeling of being so close yet so far from your best friends you went to your room to get dressed for dinner. Your room had been set up for you before you arrived, it was arranged to mimic the way you had set up your room back in Rhode Island but the space felt the same way you did, empty and isolated. Grabbing a pink polka dot sundress from your massive closet you slid off your sweats and as you slipped into your dress you had a realization. “The pogues won’t want to see me now that I’m a kook.” Fighting back tears at what was your new reality you ran you hands through your long hair and headed to meet the Cameron’s. The dinner was delicious and the Cameron’s seemed to be nice enough. They had a daughter your age, Sarah, who you got along well with. They also had a son Rafe, who was older than you but didn’t take his eyes off you all night. You blushed coyly as you weren’t used to this kind of attention from boys. After dinner that night he offered to take you on a tour of the house and before you left he asked you on a date. You accepted figuring you should start anew and deciding he would be a nice distraction from your longing to see John B, Pope, and most of all JJ.
You were just about to sit down at your desk when your phone buzzed. You retrieved it off your bed and opened it to a text from Rafe:
Rafe😚
Good morning sexy, there’s a kegger tonight at the boneyard. I’ll be picking you up at 3. Good luck with your school work and I’ll see you tonight.
Gm Rafe. Thank you, I’ll see you then!:)
You cringed slightly at his chosen nickname for you. Yet he was sweet, most of the time, and you guys weren’t even official yet so you brushed it off, sat down at your desk, and opened your laptop to begin what you privately called your “kookwork”.
Glancing over at your clock you realized it was 1:30. So you finished up and turned in your last assignment for the day before you began to get ready for the kegger. Before getting in the shower you sat down on your window seat and glanced out the window to see Pope walking down your street. He wore a “Hawards” shirt and carried groceries. You jumped up ecstatic but just as you were about to reach for the handle and open the window, you remembered what you had become. Ignoring the pang in your heart you jumped in the shower and began getting ready.
The mirror reflected a you that you didn’t recognize. You wore a tight white crop top and a jean skirt with brown Ralph Lauren sandals that your aunt had bought you. You straightened your long and normally wavy hair while your face was naturally made up, but your freckles hidden. Glancing down at your wrist you were grounded. On your wrist you wore a gold bracelet with mini shells on it, this was what your parents had given you for your 16th birthday and you wore it every day in memory of them and as a way of keeping them with you. Also on your wrist was several string bracelets your school friends from RI had made for you before you left. In addition to these tokens of friendship, was your most sacred and prized possession, a bracelet that you hadn’t taken off since the night it was given to you five years ago. It was JJ’s bracelet.
You looked up from glancing at your wrist as there was a knock at your bedroom door.
“Come in!”
“Rafe is here!” your uncle said after cracking your door open enough to see you standing in front of your mirror.
“Y/n, sweetheart, don’t you look beautiful. Patty come take a look at your niece.”
“Oh honey bee!!” your aunt squealed as she pushed past where your uncle was leaning on the door, almost knocking him over. She embraced you and then smoothed your hair down.
“Thank you Auntie.” you blushed.
“Mhmm.” your uncle cleared his throat as to say what about me?
“Thank you Uncle.” you turned to him and smiled. “Thank you both, for everything”
“You don’t have to keep thanking us sweetheart. It’s the least we could do after everything you’ve been through.”
You smiled as your uncle chimed in, “Well are you going to keep that boy waiting?”
“Noo...” you said grabbing your phone and turning the light off as the three of you headed out of your bedroom and down the stairs. You opened the door to see Rafe shifting his glance down to you and smiling.
“Hey” he said his jaw agape as he took in your appearance.
“Hey”
“You ready?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be.” you returned his smile, “you look spiffy RC” you said he opened the door to his truck for you.
“Thank you y/n, you look absolutely smoking.”
You laughed at his remark, “Thank you! Let’s get to the boneyard.”
The drive was mostly filled with silence and some singing because Rafe had played your favorite song during the short drive to the boneyard.
“Is Sarah going to be there?” you asked.
“Yeah but she’s gonna be hanging with her fucking Pogue boyfriend. I don’t want you talking to them, so don’t go looking for her.” He spat his jaw tensing and his hand gripping your thigh much harder than he had been before.
“Ow, Rafe!” You flinched pulling your leg away from his grasp.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry! I didn’t mean too.” He responded pulling his truck into a parking spot near the boneyard.
“It’s okay.” You sighed, your leg red and already bruising, you wondered how you were going to explain that to your aunt tomorrow. You lifted your head up to look at him before getting out of the truck.
“What’s your problem with pogues anyways?”
“I DO-“ he corrected his voice and restrained his temper saying “I don’t want to talk about it right now. Let’s just go have a nice night, I’ll go get our drinks you meet Top by the lifeguard chair.”
“Okay” you nodded and mustered a weak smile as you opened the passenger door and started down towards the beach with Rafe.

You were sitting on top of the lifeguard tower, it was much later now. On the verge of midnight you guessed judging by the way that the tide began to rip back away from the shore. You had only had three drinks and were a little buzzed at most. You were never one for drinking unless it was wine or a margarita, you preferred smoking. At this point you hadn’t seen Rafe or Topper for hours. You kept entertained by chatting with some tourons but stayed away from the main area of driftwood, eyes scanning for Rafe and your heart hoping Sarah would come find you. You stole a glance toward the ocean and then towards the fire and driftwood. That was when you saw him. A figure you could never mistake for another. His messy blonde hair was illuminated by the moonlight, you glanced next to him to see Sarah, her arms wrapped around it couldn’t be... “John B” you muttered to yourself “JJ” you smiled.
“What was that sexy?” Rafe boomed. Suddenly standing in the sand below you.
“Nothing, I- I thought I saw something. Where have you been?”
“It doesn’t matter where I’ve been. I want to know what you said.” Rafe demanded.
“I said it was nothing.”
“Yeah alright. I bet.” He scowled as he grabbed you down from the lifeguard tower.
“Rafe. Rafe you’re hurting me!” you scolded.
“I heard what you said. How do you know the names of those pogues? Huh? Do you have something to tell me?” He shouted tightening his grip on you and pulling you towards a hidden alcove in the wall of rock that surrounded the boneyard.
“No. I don’t know what your talking about.”
He stopped dead in his tracks causing you to jolt forward into his arms. He pulled you upright and whispered threateningly into your ear. “Is that so. If you’re not going to tell me what I want to hear. You’re going to show me what I want to see.”
“NO RAFE.” You screamed hot tears were burning down your cheeks now as you realized what he meant. “Please you’re drunk. STOP.”
Once you had reached the alcove, he turned you around and slammed you against the wall. Causing you to shriek in pain. He covered your mouth. Muffling you’re struggle against him.
“Listen. I’m trying to make you the princess of the kooks. But you’re here, by my invitation and you mutter the names of pogues you never met.” he slapped you across the face as you let out a deafening sob. “That doesn’t make much sense now does it s e x y.”
You cringed at the name you hated and continued to struggle against Rafe’s grasp on you.
“You even look like a Pogue with these stupid bracelets.” He grabbed your hand and ripped each one of them off of you throwing them into the sand.
You screamed in agony from his hold on you and from the feeling of your heart breaking as he ripped off the bracelet that your parents had gotten you and then the ones your friends had made and then you struggled the most as he pulled off JJ’s bracelet. That bracelet symbolized every promise you had ever made to JJ and watching Rafe throw it aside out of your sight caused you to go limp as you screamed “NO RAFE STOP M- MY... SOMEONE HELP. HELP!!”
He ignored your cries and sobs, pushing you back against the rock wall so hard you felt the skin of your back break. With you trapped he began to slide his hand up your skirt and begin to stroke your thigh, higher and higher. Before he could undo the top button on your skirt he was suddenly gone from in front of you.
You stumbled away from the wall crumpled to the ground. You tried to look for your bracelets but the burning pain from your now bleeding back and bruised wrists kept you from crawling forward. Through the tears streaming down your face you saw a blur of long dark curly hair.
In a comforting voice the girl said “Hey hey you’re okay. My name is Kie. We heard you screaming from down the beach. What happened? Did he hurt you?”
Between sobs you nodded and turned to reveal your back, the previously clean white shirt was now red with blood.
“Oh my god we need to get you some help. I know where we can bring you.”
“No. NO. He th- threw my b- bra- bracelets in the sand. I need to find them!” You cried you voice was hoarse from screaming and weak from the shock.
“Okay. Umm I’ll help you look. What do they look like?”
“There’s a gold one w- with small gold shells, four string bracelets, and one is made of lea- leather and i- it has th- threE beads o- sea gl- sea glass.”
You and Kie sifted through the sand and you found each of your bracelets except for JJ’s. At this point you didn’t know what had happened to Rafe. You didn’t care. You were just relieved to be free of him and in this moment all you cared about was getting JJ’s bracelet back on your wrist. A few minutes had passed now and you felt like you were about to collapse, you began sobbing harder and uncontrollably, unable to find JJ’s bracelet. Kie came over to you and hugged your head, careful not to touch your back so she didn’t hurt you. She smoothed your hair and comfortingly whispered to you “Shhh we’ll find it. Don’t worry. Take a deep breath, let’s keep looking we need to get you some help as soon as we find it okay.”
You nodded, pulling out of Kie’s embrace, you were now breathing steadier and the two of you began to look once again.
Not even twenty seconds had passed before you heard an unmistakable voice say. “Y/n? Is that you!?”
You turned to see JJ not ten feet from you. Holding the bracelet.
