La mode est une façon amusante de s'exprimer et de se réinventer chaque jour.
Jane Birkin
Still an icon today.
Jane Birkin in her day brought her own style to fit her British personality that was a far cry from the elegantly and expensively dressed mavens. From her laissez-faire fringe, to her layered necklaces, vintage denim, peasant blouses and white t-shirts, she wowed Parisienne women.
Today if you ever wander around Paris looking at the younger girls - or look at French young girls sporting their Paris street chic style on instagram or other social media - they call it Paris street chic. It’s not fashion, it’s a street style.
It’s really bunch of every day clothing items and accessories stylishly thrown together. So it’s not surprising to learn that the original source of French street chic started with Jane Birkin. It was Birkin who ‘pioneered’ the kind of off-duty dressing you now see all over the streets of Paris. I say pioneered but the truth is she dressed for herself without even wanting or trying to become a French style icon.
Still as fashionistas will tell you, Birkin was always several decades ahead of the style curve (easy for them to say). It was stylish but above all it was timeless. It amuses me no end that when one sees doe eyed non-French girls who are so enamoured by French girl fashion but don’t realise they owe their thanks to an English girl.
In 1981, Birkin was on a short flight from Paris to London. Carrying her famous straw basket, she placed it in the overhead compartment of her seat. However, the lid of the basket opened, and the contents spilled all over the floor and on the seats around her. Sitting next to her and assisting her in retrieving the contents of her basket was the late executive of Hermès, Jean-Louis Dumas. Birkin complained to Dumas that she was unable to find a suitable leather weekend bag that she liked. According to folklore, the remainder of the flight consisted of the pair designing a bag together and sketching ideas on an air sickness bag.
Fast forward three years and a prototype handbag was developed and presented to Jane Birkin – the Hermès Birkin bag. The bag, crafted from supple leather and handmade in France by a single, highly trained artisan, and takes up to 24 hours to complete. Designed specifically to provide ample room for jet-setting women, the bag quickly became a fashion icon and status symbol for women worldwide. The Birkin bag comes in a range of sizes, leathers, exotic skins, and hardware, with new colours introduced each season and limited edition versions of the bag crafted occasionally.
Since the creation of the very first Birkin bag, Jane Birkin had always carried one. However, true to her unique style and fashion, she continually customised her bags with beads, trinkets, protest stickers, and other titbits to create a unique look. Birkin even defaced her namesake’s bag on Japanese TV in 2008. The fashion icon repeatedly stamped on a tan-coloured Birkin bag to make it look “unique.”

Hermès Reselling: Irrational Investing or Fashion Flipping?
There is no denying the appeal of Hermès purses. However, some people feel that they are unaffordable due to the exclusivity and exorbitant retail costs. This supports a robust resale market where astute people profit from owning Hermès items.
But is becoming an Hermès reseller a guaranteed path to riches, or a gamble fraught with risk? Let's delve into the world of Hermès resale to see if the profit margins justify the effort.
Remember that you can become an Hermès reseller and sell or buy your original Hermès handbags on Resellers Connector without commissions.
The Hermès Resale Landscape: A Seller's Paradise?
Hermès's controlled distribution strategy creates a constant demand that outstrips supply. This scarcity translates to high resale values for certain Birkin and Kelly styles, especially in exotic leathers or limited-edition colors. Resellers can potentially fetch five to seven times the retail price for these coveted bags.
However, not all Hermès items are created equal. Classic canvas Constance bags or less popular newer models might only retain their retail value, or even depreciate slightly. Understanding the specific Hermès models with strong resale potential is crucial for success.
Challenges on the Hermès Reselling Road
Building Credibility: The luxury resale market is competitive. Establishing yourself as a trustworthy seller takes time and effort. Authenticity is paramount, and potential buyers will scrutinize photos, descriptions, and your reputation before committing. Building a positive online presence through platforms like The RealReal or reputable consignment stores is essential.
Sourcing Hermès: Obtaining Hermès directly from boutiques is notoriously difficult. Sales associates often prioritize long-term clients, leaving resellers with limited options. This can lead to relying on secondary markets or auctions, which introduce risks of inauthenticity and higher competition.
The Hermès Boutique Blacklist: Hermès is known to be wary of resellers. Frequent purchases of popular models might flag you, making it even harder to acquire future inventory directly.
Time Investment: Researching, sourcing, photographing, listing, and negotiating sales takes considerable time. Factor in authentication fees, potential returns, and the time it can take to sell a specific item.
The Math of Hermès Reselling:
Let's consider a scenario. You purchase a pre-owned black Birkin bag for $10,000. After authentication fees and potential repairs, you list it for $20,000. Factoring in a selling platform's commission (typically 15-30%), your profit could be around $5,000-$7,000. This seems lucrative, but remember, it's not guaranteed. The bag might take months to sell, and there's always the risk of not finding a buyer.
Is Hermès Reselling Right for You?
Hermès reselling can be profitable, but it's not a get-rich-quick scheme. Success requires passion for luxury goods, a keen eye for trends, business acumen, and significant time investment.
Alternatives to Consider:
Curated Vintage: Focus on vintage luxury pieces from various brands. This offers a wider selection and potentially avoids the challenges of acquiring Hermès directly.
Freelance Personal Shopping: Utilize your fashion knowledge to help clients find the perfect Hermès pieces, either retail or pre-owned.

Luxury Redefined: Why a $5,000 Handbag Spells Luxury, But a $5,000 Ski Setup Doesn't
In the minds of many, the word "luxury" is almost automatically associated with things like premium leather goods, Swiss timepieces, and haute couture fashion. A $5,000 handbag from an esteemed French atelier? Definitely a luxury item. But what about a $5,000 pair of high-end skis with top-of-the-line bindings? Or a $2,000 mountaineering backpack made of weather-proof fabrics? For some reason, costly outdoor gear doesn't quite register as "luxury" in the general consciousness.
Luxury implies the cost of a product is far higher than its functional value. So, what accounts for outdoor gear being separated from traditional luxury products in most people's minds? From my point of view a few potential factors:
Necessity vs. Extravagance: While no one truly needs a $60,000 Hermes Kelly bag or a $25,000 Rolex watch, such items are considered non-essential luxuries and symbols of status. Outdoor equipment like skis, on the other hand, is often viewed as functional gear. Even if very expensive, skis are viewed as essential equipment for skiing rather than just a status symbol.
Utility vs. Appearance: Luxury fashion items like purses and jewelry are valued mainly for how they look - their fancy materials, expert craftsmanship, and serving as a trendy accessory. But outdoor gear's main selling point is its usefulness and performance, not just appearance.
Heritage & Exclusivity: Many luxury brands have centuries of heritage and tightly controlled exclusive production methods. In contrast, most outdoor gear is produced at a larger scale and sold across many retail channels rather than ultra-exclusive boutiques. This relatively broader accessibility prevents it from having that prestigious luxury brand feel.
Craftsmanship Perceptions: The artistry of a Hermès Birkin bag - hand-stitched, hand-dyed leathers and exotic skins - is incredibly difficult to mass produce. Outdoor gear relies more on advanced manufacturing techniques and materials science, which while impressive, don't have that same sense of traditional luxury craftsmanship in most consumers' minds.
For me, this leads to an interesting question - why haven't certain sporting/outdoor segments been disrupted by ultra-luxury brands like we've seen in other categories? You'd think a ski company could charge $10,000 for a special line of skis made with fancy materials and only make a small number of them. Things like golf clubs, hunting gear, and camping cookware also seem like they could be branded and priced as luxury items, even if they're mainly for practical use. Maybe those kinds of luxury outdoor products will become more common in the future.
At the end of the day, most people view luxury as more about accessories you wear or use for status, not technical performance gear for actual activities like skiing, biking, or mountain climbing. No matter how expensive or advanced that outdoor equipment is, most consumers associate luxury more with indulgent fashion items rather than functional sporting goods. Changing what people consider a true "luxury" product may require rethinking bigger cultural definitions of luxury overall.

10 Must-Know Tips for Buying Your First Designer Handbag
Owning a designer handbag is a milestone for many women—a symbol of style, elegance, and sophistication. But making your first purchase can feel intimidating. With so many brands, styles, and price points, how do you ensure you’re making the right choice? This guide will walk you through ten essential tips to confidently buy your first designer handbag.
1. Set a Realistic Budget
Before diving into the world of designer handbags, determine how much you’re willing to spend. Designer bags range from $500 to well over $10,000, depending on the brand and style. Consider this purchase an investment, but also ensure it aligns with your financial goals.
2. Start with a Classic Design
If it’s your first designer handbag, go for a timeless piece that will never go out of style. Classic designs like the Louis Vuitton Neverfull, the Gucci Marmont, or the Chanel Flap Bag are versatile and pair well with any wardrobe.
3. Research Brands and Their Strengths
Each designer brand has its own unique aesthetic and craftsmanship. For instance:
Chanel: Known for elegance and quilted leather.
Louis Vuitton: Offers durability with iconic monograms.
Hermès: Exclusivity and timeless craftsmanship.
Prada: Sleek and functional designs. Explore their collections to identify which brand aligns with your style.
4. Consider Your Lifestyle
Think about how and where you’ll use the bag. If you need something for daily errands, opt for a tote like the Saint Laurent Rive Gauche. For evening events, a small clutch or crossbody, such as the Bottega Veneta Pouch, might be a better fit.
5. Choose a Neutral Color
While bold colors are fun, your first designer handbag should be a neutral shade that works with most outfits. Black, beige, brown, or white are versatile options that can transition seamlessly from day to night.
6. Pay Attention to Materials
Designer handbags come in a variety of materials, from leather to canvas to exotic skins. Leather is a popular choice for its durability and luxurious feel. However, canvas bags like those from Louis Vuitton are also long-lasting and lightweight.
7. Shop From Reputable Sources
To ensure authenticity, always buy from authorized retailers, flagship stores, or reputable resellers like luxuryforyou.com. Avoid deals that seem “too good to be true,” as counterfeit bags are rampant.
8. Check Resale Value
Some designer bags, like the Hermès Birkin or Chanel Classic Flap, appreciate in value over time. If you’re considering a future resale, research which bags are currently holding their value on the market.
9. Inspect the Bag Before Buying
When purchasing in-store, carefully inspect the bag for any imperfections. Pay attention to stitching, hardware, and logo placement. For online purchases, ask for detailed images of the bag, including serial numbers or authenticity cards.
10. Embrace the Excitement
Buying your first designer handbag is a memorable experience, so enjoy the process! Whether you’re treating yourself for a milestone or saving for a dream purchase, savor the moment of owning a piece of luxury.
Final Thoughts
Your first designer handbag is more than just an accessory—it’s an investment in yourself. By following these tips, you can ensure that your purchase is thoughtful, practical, and truly special. Remember, it’s not just about the brand or price; it’s about finding a bag that resonates with your personal style and brings you joy every time you carry it.
Happy shopping! 💼✨

Best Designer Bags
Designer bags are more than just accessories; they are symbols of status, artistry, and enduring style. From the classic elegance of Chanel to the modern allure of Gucci, designer bags have carved out a permanent place in the world of fashion. They encapsulate the essence of luxury and have become a must-have for fashion enthusiasts and collectors alike. This article explores the allure of designer bags, focusing on their craftsmanship, iconic status, and the top brands that continue to set the standard in the fashion industry.
The Craftsmanship Behind Designer Bags
What sets designer bags apart from ordinary handbags is the meticulous craftsmanship that goes into their creation. These bags are often handmade by skilled artisans who have honed their craft over decades. The materials used are of the highest quality, from supple leathers to exotic skins, ensuring that each bag is not only beautiful but also durable.
For example, Hermès, a brand synonymous with luxury, is renowned for its Birkin and Kelly bags. These bags are made by a single artisan who spends around 18 to 24 hours crafting each piece. The attention to detail is unparalleled, with every stitch carefully placed to ensure perfection. This level of craftsmanship is why Hermès bags are considered investment pieces, often increasing in value over time.
Louis Vuitton, another iconic brand, is known for its timeless monogram canvas and the durability of its bags. The brand's history dates back to the 19th century when it started as a trunk maker. Today, Louis Vuitton bags are not just fashion statements but also practical pieces that can withstand the test of time, making them a favorite among travelers and fashionistas alike.
The Iconic Status of Designer Bags
Designer bags are more than just luxury items; they are cultural symbols that have been immortalized in films, music, and popular culture. The Birkin bag, for instance, has become a status symbol, with a waiting list that can span years. Celebrities like Victoria Beckham and Kim Kardashian have contributed to its iconic status by flaunting their extensive collections.
Chanel's classic flap bag, introduced by Coco Chanel in 1955, is another example of an iconic designer bag. The quilted leather, interlocking CC logo, and chain strap have made it a timeless piece that continues to be a favorite across generations. The Chanel flap bag is not just a handbag; it is a piece of fashion history that embodies the brand's legacy of elegance and sophistication.
Gucci's Dionysus bag, with its distinctive tiger head clasp, has quickly become a modern icon. Introduced in 2015 by Alessandro Michele, the bag's unique design and bold aesthetics have made it a favorite among fashion-forward individuals. The Dionysus bag represents the brand's ability to innovate while staying true to its heritage, blending tradition with contemporary style.
Top Designer Bag Brands to Watch
While many brands offer luxurious handbags, a few stand out for their innovation, craftsmanship, and iconic designs. Below are some of the top designer bag brands that continue to set the standard in the fashion industry:
Hermès: Known for its Birkin and Kelly bags, Hermès is the epitome of luxury. Each bag is handmade by a single artisan, making it a unique piece of art. The brand's commitment to quality and exclusivity has made it a favorite among collectors and fashion enthusiasts.
Chanel: With its classic flap bag and innovative designs, Chanel remains a powerhouse in the fashion industry. The brand's bags are timeless pieces that exude elegance and sophistication, making them a must-have for any fashion lover.
Louis Vuitton: A symbol of luxury and durability, Louis Vuitton bags are perfect for those who value both style and practicality. The brand's monogram canvas and innovative designs have made it a global favorite, appealing to a wide range of fashion enthusiasts.
Gucci: Under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele, Gucci has redefined modern luxury. The Dionysus bag and other innovative designs have propelled the brand to the forefront of the fashion industry, attracting a younger, fashion-forward audience.
Dior: Known for its Lady Dior bag, a favorite of Princess Diana, Dior continues to be a symbol of elegance and grace. The brand's bags are known for their intricate designs and luxurious materials, making them a timeless addition to any wardrobe.
Prada: Prada's minimalist designs and focus on functionality have made it a favorite among those who prefer understated luxury. The brand's nylon bags, in particular, have gained a cult following for their practicality and style.
Fendi: The Baguette bag, often referred to as the "it bag" of the 1990s, cemented Fendi's place in fashion history. The brand continues to innovate with bold designs and luxurious materials, making it a favorite among fashion-forward individuals.
The Investment Value of Designer Bags
One of the unique aspects of designer bags is their potential to increase in value over time. Unlike fast fashion, which loses its appeal after a few seasons, designer bags are often seen as investment pieces. The limited availability, high demand, and exceptional craftsmanship contribute to their resale value. For example, a Hermès Birkin bag can sell for double or even triple its original price on the resale market.
Chanel bags, particularly the classic flap bag, have also seen a steady increase in value over the years. The brand's regular price hikes and the timeless appeal of its designs ensure that Chanel bags remain in demand. Investing in a designer bag is not just a fashion statement but also a financial decision that can pay off in the long run.
Conclusion
Designer bags are more than just fashion accessories; they are symbols of luxury, craftsmanship, and timeless style. Whether you are drawn to the classic elegance of Chanel, the modern allure of Gucci, or the exclusivity of Hermès, owning a designer bag is a way to express your personal style and make a lasting statement. As fashion continues to evolve, designer bags remain a constant, embodying the perfect blend of art, history, and luxury.

Once i get to my goal weight i want to start building a capsule wardrobe. Starting with neutrals and basics and they all have to be natural fibres so cotton, silk, cashmere, wool, and linen. Also fur lined so alpaca, sheep, or naturally derived so geese and duck feather. And real authentic 100% leather not the fake microplastic pleather.
What’s so crazy is that the vegan community doesn’t seem to care or understand the harm that comes from microplastics and things that do not degrade on the environment, our ecosystem, and female reproductive health.
There was a study in Italy that they wanted to conduct which about the effect of microplastics in sperm and they couldn’t find a control group because 100% of men they chose all had microplastics in their sperm. How do you think that affects women who are being ejaculated into with sperm that has microplastics. Anyways I want to encourage people to think for themselves and not deem things as bad just because.
I do think there are ethical considerations for the use of alligators, crocodiles, ostrich’s and the likes but I would be lying if I said I don’t want an exotic birkin.

Crossbody Bags: Offering hands-free convenience, crossbody bags have become increasingly popular for their practicality and style.
Satchels: Known for their structured shape and durability, satchels are favored for their ability to hold a significant amount without compromising on style.
Backpacks: While traditionally associated with casual wear, backpacks have evolved to include stylish designs suitable for both work and leisure.
Materials and Craftsmanship
The quality of a handbag often hinges on its craftsmanship and materials. Fine leather, exotic skins, and premium fabrics are commonly used to create durable and luxurious pieces. Craftsmen employ techniques that have been refined over generations, ensuring each handbag is not only fashionable but also built to last.
Choosing the Right Handbag
When selecting a handbag, consider both functionality and personal style. A well-chosen handbag can complement your outfit, enhance your confidence, and serve as a practical companion throughout your day. Factors to consider include size, color, versatility, and the occasion for which it will be used.
Fashion Trends
Fashion trends in handbags are constantly evolving. While classic designs like the Chanel 2.55 or the Hermès Birkin remain timeless, seasonal trends introduce new colors, materials, and shapes. Keeping an eye on fashion forecasts can help you stay current while expressing your individuality.
Caring for Your Handbag
Proper care is essential to maintaining the beauty and longevity of your handbag. Depending on the material, regular cleaning and conditioning may be necessary. Storing your handbag in a dust bag and avoiding prolonged exposure to sunlight and moisture can also help preserve its pristine condition.
Investment Value
For many, a designer handbag represents not only a fashion statement but also an investment. High-quality, well-maintained handbags can retain or even increase in value over time, particularly limited edition or vintage pieces. Some collectors specialize in acquiring and preserving these treasures, further solidifying their status as coveted luxury items.
Conclusion
Handbags are more than just accessories; they are symbols of personal style, status, and craftsmanship. Whether you prefer classic elegance or contemporary chic, there's a handbag out there to suit every taste and occasion. By understanding the history, types, and care of handbags, you can make informed choices that enhance your wardrobe and reflect your unique personality. Does a Hermès Bag Have Resale Value? Understanding the Investment Potential
Because of its classic style, fine craftsmanship, and rarity, Hermès bags are frequently considered to be among the most sought-after luxury goods in the fashion industry. Do Hermès bags have resale value, though, despite their appeal? The answer is definitely yes. Hermès bags are actually a great option for consumers who are looking to make an investment since they not only hold their worth over time, but also tend to increase in value.
Let’s explore why Hermès bags have such impressive resale value and the factors that contribute to it. Remember, that you can find the best place to sell a Birkin bag at Resellers Connector without commissions.
1. Exceptional Craftsmanship and Quality
Each Hermès bag is handcrafted by skilled artisans, often requiring several days to complete. This level of craftsmanship, combined with the highest-quality materials, is one reason these bags are valued so highly. Their durability and timeless design mean that Hermès bags can last for decades, retaining their appeal across generations. This long-lasting quality ensures that even pre-owned Hermès bags command high prices in the resale market and the Hermès resallers known it.
2. Exclusive and Limited Availability
Hermès maintains its exclusivity by strictly controlling the supply of its iconic bags, such as the Birkin and Kelly. Waiting lists can span months, even years, for certain designs, and Hermès is known for its “by-appointment-only” approach to bag sales. This rarity drives up demand, as many buyers are willing to pay a premium to skip the wait. Limited-edition releases and unique colors or materials make certain bags even more desirable, and these rare items often resell for double or even triple their original price.
3. Resale Market Performance
Unlike most luxury items that lose value over time, Hermès bags have a track record of performing well in the resale market. The resale value of popular models like the Birkin and Kelly has shown steady appreciation, sometimes outperforming traditional investments such as stocks or real estate. For instance, data shows that certain Birkin bags appreciate by 10% to 14% annually, particularly in rare leathers or colors. So, where can I sell my birkin?
4. Factors That Enhance Resale Value
If you’re considering an Hermès bag as an investment, keep in mind the factors that can enhance its resale value:
Condition: Bags in excellent or pristine condition, with minimal signs of wear, fetch the highest prices. Original packaging, receipts, and authentication certificates add credibility and appeal.
Material and Color: Unique colors, exotic leathers (like crocodile or ostrich), and limited-edition materials increase a bag’s desirability and resale value.
Reputable Platform: Selling on established platforms like Resellers Connector helps secure a good price and ensures authenticity.
In conclusion, Hermès bags not only hold their resale value but often appreciate, thanks to their quality, exclusivity, and strong demand in the resale market. For collectors and fashion enthusiasts, Hermès bags are as much a style statement as they are a solid investment.

The Epsom leather used in the Kelly 25 is renowned for its lightweight yet sturdy nature.
