“Okay! That’s everything….” you say to yourself, letting your eyes sweep over the ingredients you had on the counter.  You check the time and realize you still have about 30 minutes before Kyungsoo would arrive, so you run to take a quick shower and change.  Turning off the blow dryer, you peek at your phone and see you’ve got a few minutes so you make your way back to the kitchen.  Your friend is always on time so you just triple check that you have everything and pull some fruit out of the fridge to snack on while you both bake.  

You’d both started this weekly ritual when you had been baking at home one day when he’d stopped by with some of your friends.  He had expressed his own interest in baking and cooking, and you’d gotten to talking.  He’d shocked you by asking for you to text or call him the next time you’d felt like destressing like this and to invite him along.  So the following week, when you found yourself pulling out supplies, you’d sent him a text, not expecting anything.  

To your surprise, he had messaged back almost immediately asking what he could bring and that he was on his way over.  Initially, you’d been concerned that it might be awkward.  You had all been friends since college, but Kyungsoo was on the quiet side and while you’d had plenty of conversations, you couldn’t recall spending any alone time with him.  You remember the little butterflies in your tummy when you realized you’d be able to get to know him a bit better one on one.  Possibly getting closer to him.  

Smiling down at the ingredients, you can’t help but feel your excitement spike as the doorbell rings.  This was the moment you looked forward to every week now, spending an afternoon baking something interesting with him, then either cooking or ordering in if you wanted to just clean up and relax while watching a movie.  Many nights you both just talked without even watching whatever you’d put on.  

Opening the door, you smile at Kyungsoo as he gives you a big grin.  “What are we making this week?” he asks as he makes his way in.  You grab the bag he brought, tsking at him.  “I know, you can tell me all day not to bring things, but I’m not going to listen.  Just deal with it.” he says before you can complain and you laugh, unable to help it.  For a long time, his sometimes abrupt way of speaking used to make you think he was a bit cold, but you’d come to realize that he was just blunt and honest.  It made him that much more interesting to you.  Interesting and attractive. You shake your head, trying to ground yourself back into reality.

“Cupcakes! I thought it would be fun to decorate them and send them home with you for the other guys.” you say, making your way into the kitchen.  He goes and immediately gets the apron you’d designated for him and he turns to eye the array of ingredients you have out.  “Sounds good, but they don’t deserve cupcakes.” you snort at his comment and he smiles at you as you laugh.  “So true.  Especially Chanyeol and Baekhyun.” you say and he nods,groaning.  

“I’d rather give them to a stranger than those two,” he mumbles and you shake your head.  “Ok! I thought it’d be fun to color some of the buttercream, or we can leave it and decorate with all of these…” you say, showing him all the fun little sprinkles and decorations you’d picked up. “Also, let’s discuss flavors for the cupcakes themselves…”  You both are swept away by the excitement of your shared love of creating and being able to work together. 

 Before you know it, the cupcakes are out of the oven, and the buttercream is made, separated into fun colors.  “All that’s left is to let them cool and ... .the super fun clean up!” you say and swipe a finger across the paddle you’d used to beat the buttercream as you remove it from your mixer.  “Mmmm!” you say, always excited to taste the outcome of your efforts.  

“Good?” he asks as he watches you taste it and you nod, holding out the little left on it.  He smiles and shakes his head, already setting up the sink for clean up.  “You don’t have to help me with this part, you know.” you say, as you always do since you started this.  You remove your apron, taking his as well to put to the side. “One day you’ll give up on that silly argument.  We both bake together, we both clean up.” he states, leaving no room for argument and you shrug.  “Fine, fine.” you glance over at him and can’t help but grin at his handsome face smiling back at you. 

He laughs as he dries his hands as you’re finishing up washing.  “What?” you ask and he glances over at you.  “It’s just…I’m glad you actually texted me to start doing this.  It’s…nice.” he says, then looks at you. “Oh geez, Y/n…” he says, and reaches out, running his thumb over the side of your mouth, showing you the buttercream.  “Oh…” you blush, embarrassed momentarily, but then you watch as he puts his thumb into his mouth as he stares at you.  “You’re right…” he says in a low tone.  

You swallow hard as heat ignites in the pit of your stomach and your cheeks flare a brighter shade of red, gripping the counter as you watch him lick his full lips.  “It’s delicious.” he says, his eyes flicking down to your lips.  “Oh uh…” you manage, your hand going to your mouth to wipe at it.  “Sorry…I -” but you’re cut off as he gently grips your hand and pulls you closer, his arm slipping around your waist.  Your heart is beating in your throat as he pauses to study your face, his eyes seeming to be asking permission.  

When you don’t pull away and you just stare up at him as you quiver gently in his arms, he brushes your hair back from your forehead.  “So sweet.” he says as he brushes his lips over yours, and you can’t help but let out a small whine.  He stops momentarily to let out a small breathy laugh and you dip your head, berating yourself.  “Have you wanted this as much as I have, then?” he asks softly and you look up into his big, dark eyes.  “Yes, I-” you whisper, but his lips are on yours, this time more eager.  

You let yourself lean into him, finally getting over the shock as you wrap your arms around his neck.  He backs you up to the counter, his body pressing against yours as his lips part, his tongue slipping along the seam of your mouth.  You open to him, and his tongue searches for yours, his hand slipping up into your hair, lightly cupping the back of your head as he deepens the kiss.  

Your senses are enhanced; the silence of the apartment seems to emphasize the soft, wet noise of your mouths meeting; the rhythm of your heart increasing as his fingertips skim your scalp, the hitch of his breath as he presses against you and you can feel his arousal against your thigh.  Your soft whimper as you bunch his shirt in your fist, pulling at him, wanting more. You gasp as his lips leave yours, planting kisses along your jawline, then down to your neck.  You clench your thighs together at his soft breath on your skin, his small low noises as he stops, resting his forehead against your collarbone.  You run your fingers through his hair as he lets out little puffs of air, his hands grip your waist, his thumbs rubbing the skin under the waistband of your pants.  

You hear his audible swallow and he pulls back to look at you, his dark eyes searching yours.  “We should stop here.  If we keep-” he starts, but cuts himself off as he looks at you.  His hand comes up to cup your face, and you lean into it, your gaze never leaving his. His thumb traces your bottom lip as he bites his own.  “If you keep looking at me like that-” he whispers, but you open your mouth to nip at his thumb, then take it into your mouth to suck gently on it.  

His groan has arousal pooling in between your thighs and he yanks you to him, grasping your hair lightly in his fist as he gently tips your head back to look up at him.  “I’m not playing around with you, if we go further, things will change between us. I want that clear.” he says bluntly and you feel your body tremble in his arms.  “Yes.” you say and he studies you momentarily, as if confirming and giving you time to back out.  Instead, you move your legs to allow him to press his thigh between yours, your hand tugging at his shirt.  

A smile plays across his lips as he presses his mouth to yours.  “You’re mine then, from here on.”  “Yes-” you start, but his tongue is rolling against yours, leaving you breathless as his fingers slip under the seam of your shirt.  His thigh presses between your legs, yanking a moan from your throat as his hands slip under your shirt.  Suddenly, he’s pulling it up, forcing your arms up as he yanks it over your head.  You grab the counter behind you as his lips brush your neck, an arm around your waist, his free hand splayed over your ribs right under your bra.  

“Beautiful…” he whispers against your skin, causing the hair to raise all along your body.  You can only let out little breaths and moans as his mouth moves along your collarbone, to your shoulder, kissing as his fingers slip under the strap of your bra, gently pulling it down your arm.  Your fingers go into his hair again, urging him on.  Your head falls back as his soft lips skim along the flesh of your breast above the material, and then he’s tugging the garment down, exposing your bare tit.  You glance down at him as his tongue flicks across his lips, his eyes on yours as he takes your nipple into his mouth.  The sight of him doing that has you crying out, his teeth grazing the sensitive bud.

Hauntlight and Cenotaph, a pair of original, public domain characters created for the also public domain book Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions, by Edwin Abbot Abbot.

This character reference sheet took like four days to make.

The first drawing, which focuses on Hauntlight, is titled, "Hauntlight - it/its/itself pronouns only, yes, even in mundane, 'all-human' AUs. It's not human, only human-passing, even if born to human parents.

From top to bottom and left to right, the following drawings are labled:

"Daemon / aether / familiar is always a rabbit", showing a simple drawing of a tan rabbit, and a purple and grey shape with three lobes to represent a Flatland rabbit.

Next is a simple black line that has zig-zags and a fork at the end, with the same Flatland rabbit shape next to it for scale, showing it comes up to around where the back section forks.

This version of the character is wearing a brown eye patch over its missing left eye, with its other eye black, wearing a grey-brown shirt under a dark brown vest, and warm brown pants with a dark belt. It has wooden forearm crutches, and wears a dark brown newsie cap.

After this is another version of the line from before, labled, "Most simplified! If drawn as a solid shape, should be black or orange", with a smiley face emoji. Next is a "Literal Line", purple with a grey outline, labled, "too short, ran out of paper. Grey exo, 2x repro organs, 1 set functional".

The last form is a humanoid form with three legs and two arms, with a single large cyclops eye in the center of its round head, which is tipped with a swooped arrow like a spear point. It has the same colors and pattern as the earlier humanoid, with ink-black skin and brown markings.

It has the same yellow and orange cane drawn over its right hand, which has an uncolored pencil drawing below it showing three rounded, "long webbed fingers". The rest of the labels are, "three legs", with an arrow pointing at its far left leg, which we see on the right, labeling it "worst leg: left leg", with its simple rounded feet "like hooves". Next to it is a separate spade-tipped tail, labled, "Can have spade tail [because] tails are cool, but not required. In this form, Cenotaph has a grey exoskeleton, and a body with a rounded main section, and two long ear-shaped sections at the top, with its eye in the center. Its blood is purple, and its brain, lung, stomachs, heart, and reproductive organs are in different shades of pink and dark red.

Attached to the sides of its main body section are two cage-like contraptions with five points boring into Cenotaph’s exoskeleton, with the outside covered in the same short curved likes as the simplified version as cilia or fins. One side of the “swimmer” is colored gold to make it easier to see, the other is greyscale. Where the barbs are injected into Cenotaph’s exoskeleton, there are thick black lines of scar tissue around them.

The final drawing is labled, “Stylized”, and shows a three-dimensional cartoon rabbit walking on all fours, with an orange and yellow wheelchair holding its back legs up off the ground, with orange straps and yellow cushioning. The rabbit is dark brown, with three black stripes on its back, a black fluffy tail, and two stripes, one thick, the other thin, on its ankles and ears, with a single large orange eye with a brown slit pupil in the center of its face instead of a mouth.

Bunny's Young Family kaisoo SNS AU

I am Alexio Sospranio and you’re listening to the kaisoo fic podcast. 

This episode is slightly different because we will be going through an SNS au that is posted on twitter. Now for those who are not aware, SNS basically means Social Networking Service. In this day and age where we are chronically on our phones on twitter with memes and reaction pics saved, what would a universe look like if our exo members were in a universe whose main point of communication is twitter? Unlike ao3 fics which are text based, SNS au’s content itself follows the format of… twitter basically. There are comments which a character can tweet, and its followers are able to respond as a quote or in the thread. Alongside with that are the twitter DMs and iMessage. Occasionally, as with life, not everything can be through Twitter or message, so usually to give more context or for physical human interactions with dialogue and narration, sns au authors will post screenshots of their notes or docs for it.

Now for the SNS au we will be looking at today is, bunny, or @/meokmooi double ‘o’ on Twitter.

In this SNS au, kaisoo are in an established relationship, happily married. One or two hiccups along the way but nothing that tips the boat over, or ship for that matter. 

Introducing a bit on the author: 

Bunny has been in this fandom since 2015, that’s about 10 years. The pull factor that got her into this fandom was (baekhyun) when she saw a gif on him on tumblr throwing a bottle accidentally at his face LMAO) but became a minseok/luhan stan when she properly got into exo. Then the second time she saw exo was at the 2016 EXO'rdium concert. Bunny was in the standing area and kyungsoo was externally close to her 😭 and pretty much entered the concert as a minseok stan and left a kyungsoo stan. Bunny is currently into (exo, kaisoo, dogs).

and she will be taking the persona of Bunny. I asked our author of the day some questions prior to this session and this is what she had to say.

I note you mostly write parents kaisoo or lactating Kyungsoo, and the ongoing one you’re doing now is no different, which is perfectly fine. But my question is what about kaisoo in real life inspired you to have this SNS au, if any?

First of all I’m astounded to be known as someone who mostly writes lactating kyungsoo 🤣🤣

Haha, of course! You have like 4 different aus with lactating Kyungsoo.

I think what inspired me about kaisoo was mostly how clingy and childlike Jongin is with Kyungsoo, and how Kyungsoo in turn tends to mother him a little. Kyungsoo is naturally domestic and cares for his members and everyone around him. Seeing the video of when kaisoo had a cooking competition and Kyungsoo won, his cheeky expression towards the latter made me laugh- they bicker like an old married couple. 

Indeed they bicker like an old married couple! Really love that cooking competition and it really sets butterflies in MY stomach… i can’t imagine what it does to kaisoo in real life!

The premise of this fic started off with Kyungsoo complaining about how Haesoo looks like Jongin when it was him who carried their baby. And of how we slowly get an in on how there was this bitch who wanted to steal Jongin from Kyungsoo and that taps onto Kyungsoo’s insecurities, which, thank kaisoo, Jongin eased Kyungsoo’s worries and I quote: 

Kyungsoo sobs, his face flushed from embarrassment. “I’m not your petite little sweetheart anymore”

“I know you don’t feel it, but to me, your postpartum body is my favourite. It’s sexy as hell. I love your stomach because that’s where our babies grew so healthy and safe.”

This moment… this intimate moment where one had just barred his heart vulnerably to show his insecurities… and then the other consoling him… it just sets the bar up so high. Like in real life, i know of married men who would go on dating apps to fuck bitches just because their wives are too loose from giving birth to their child? Which is honestly the most messed up way of thinking. But with kaisoo in this au, true love in real life is not entirely lost…

I follow this account where she would post up fiction related posts like talking about fanfic tropes, relationship dynamics and ao3 tags. And in one of her posts, read this and i quote: There’s something profoundly comforting about reading stories where characters who are struggling are deeply loved by someone who isn’t scared of their flaws. Even if it’s fiction, it exists in someone’s mind, in their heart, which means it’s not impossible to find in real life.

Bunny, what do you think?

I feel like Jongin was literally written by a woman. I can’t fault anything bad about him   . I can’t fault anything bad about him (except his questionable taste in shoes) 

I don’t have any desire to marry and have kids because of many reasons, but if I ever did it would be someone like kaisoo 🥲 i haven’t dated since getting into exo because they have highered my standards too much 😂

Honestly, that’s perfectly understandable. Especially now in this day and age… phew getting married and having children will be a huge struggle. 

Bunny, do you write kaisoo here, more specifically Jongin, to be someone who really shows how loving someone should be? Do you see any reflection of your own life in this sns au you have written? Be it the plot or the characters? You don’t need to go into intimate detail, maybe just a snippet of what inspired you in real life to write this fic.

I think I write him in a way I wish more men would be. I’ve had toxic relationships and part of my perspective with Jongin is my dream guy. I’ve not been with someone who is so loving like him, I’m probably delusional in hoping there is someone out there just like him though.

Aw that’s kinda sweet tho? You write Jongin as a projection of how you want your dream guy to be! Let’s manifest that! I hope you get someone like Jongin.

My next question is what was your favourite part of piecing up a story like in this kaisoo family sns au? 

Writing about stuff that not many writers write about (*ahem* 🍼 ) and also kinda playing out my own little fantasy of them 😂

What was the most challenging part of writing this particular AU? 

writing smut and conversations 🥲

Was this the original idea you had in mind when you first drafted the fic? How much has the story grown or changed while writing?

Not really, It was just going to be a one shot but here we are… 😂

Yea! And i am aware you started off this SNS au in October last year, 2023 and initially wanted it to be just a one tweet post, I mean this in the best way possible, but how did it escalate for it to be still ongoing in March 2024?

The amount of retweets and comments it received made me want to add more and I guess it escalated from there 😅 Because I have ADHD it’s taken me a lot longer to complete it and to come up with new ideas.

The power of comments from readers really do send a spur of energy for writers and that should encourage readers to always drop love and comments down to fics.

And bunny i just want to say that the photos you pick out are insane… Like how it is that you manage to find Kyungsoo’s pale skin sucking on a pacifier, kaisoo’s height difference, baeksoo huddled together on the street. Like it’s just crazy similar!

So my question here is: How does your search bar look when you look for the memes or reaction pics or those romantic pics that really look like the exo members?

Lots and lots of research on twitter and pinterest. my close mutual @moondaes (mimi) and i send a lot of pics and videos of “kaisoo look alikes” to each other, 95% of the content is NSFW 😅 when i’ve been needed a specific picture, she’s someone who i can ask for help. 

for memes, mostly twitter, i have a whole album just for memes on my phone and pinterest 😂 

I’m also in a kaisoo cult gc with 30 members that share some of the most questionable and unhinged memes.

OuO interesting!!! Upon doing your research and collecting resources, what is the process of making an SNS au? 

Mostly collecting pictures of their kids and the couple into a folder on pinterest- if something comes up i’ll add it to the folder to use for future tweets. I use the app TwiNote and Memi Message for the fake tweets and messages. I don’t really structure the posts or organise anything *damn you ADHD brain* I pretty much just go with it 😂

Which part of the process of building the plot, getting the photos and piecing it all up together is your favourite part?

I think people’s reactions and comments is my favourite part, seeing that there are people out there who enjoy my au honestly makes my day 🥲
