This is so shanks coded to me. Like he just keeps losing people and he never learns how to deal with it. So much so that he becomes the abandoning parent. He literally knows nothing else all he has as a frame of reference is all the adult figures in his life leaving him and telling him it is for the best. So why exactly wouldn’t he believe that the best way to love someone is by letting go?

He does it to Luffy, he does it to Uta and in some ways he does it to Buggy and Mihawk too. Because he never just asks them to stay. He lets Buggy run out of his life even though it was pretty obvious that Buggy wanted Shanks to fight for this to take a stand a real one on a conviction for once and he…doesn’t, he just lets buggy leave.

And then he hitches his wagon to the most flighty (dude is literally a bird motif 😭) mother fucker he can find. he lets Mihawk wander in and out of his life as he pleases regardless of what is best for either of them. Because maybe Mihawk has nothing better to do 👀. Maybe he would say yes now if Shanks asks. but Shanks would rather die than ask, would cut off his other arm before he even attempted to “clip Mihawk’s wings”

And that’s like the truth of it. Shanks has been abandoned by every person that has ever loved him besides his crew and he knows they will never leave him. But Maybe he just wants someone to stay not because they call him captain.

#quotidian convos #but then again my voice does sound different in various situations #and also various microphones #in my phone mic i sound like a baby #in my laptop mic i sound like a tired college student or another equivalent #i sound the best in stage microphones tho. because my voice is naturally booming and I can make it be loud to address a crowd if I want to #and bc of that i have to increase it in volume and make it clear and so my voice and pitch also becomes a bit...#not higher but brighter #and my voice changes in different situations too #when i'm at home i wont bother so I let my voice fall down deep and its usually deep in mornings and evenings #when i'm at school its higher and either gets higher or lower or quieter or louder depending on who I'm talking to #when i'm at a professional or networking gathering my voice changes dramatically to an extroverted one (call it my Brucie Wayne Persona)#fun fact. that voice is also the same one I imagine myself talking in online lol. except its more open cuz social media is vastly different #to networking dinners and stage events

So I always, always have my phone on me because I have various health issues that could make me end up on the floor so it's a safety thing for me, so I can always call for help. I'm not sure how common that is though?

I’ve been watching Daredevil: Born Again and there’s a very minor character named Viktor who has only been on screen once or twice, but his name gets mentioned quite often. And I have to try so fucking hard to not be activated like a sleeper agent everytime it happens.

ahhhh I missed you too!! Life has been insistent on grinding me to a paste but we perservere

#life has been so so so hard <3 #i've never fully recovered from long covid so an average workday was leaving me absolutely drained #and on top of that i had an incident where i was trying to look into a prior auth for a patient #the kid was trans and cried on the phone because he was afraid his insurance wouldn't cover his testosterone now that trump had won #his doctor was at her wit's end because she had been assured on three separate occasions that the authorization was all set #so since it was literally a dead day at work anyway i spent about half an hour playing phone tag with the insurance #trying to find out what their mcfucking issue was #only to eventually be told they wouldn't speak to a representative from the pharmacy about it and that the prescriber had to make the call #so i did let the prescriber know and found a goodrx coupon that made the price like $20 #patient was thrilled and very grateful for the effort #(this was like. the day before christmas and his last chance to get his medicine before he had to travel.)#pharmacist however immediately jumped my shit when i hung up for ''wasting time''#despite the fact that there was??? literally no other work to do???#we had three other techs on and i was keeping up with the data entry as things came in while i was on the phone.#tried to defuse the situation by apologizing but she was literally top-of-her-lungs screaming at me #in front of my coworkers and the like 2 customers nearby. so loud that one person could hear her clearly from the bathroom #had worked with this woman for 5+ years and she was the reason i went to this particular pharmacy in the first place #left and texted my boss what happened and told her that this gets fixed or i'm out. had a meeting with the store manager and everything #told them i would have a conversation with her to see if we could move past this. and she refused to speak to me #so i quit and my bestie quit in solidarity and we have been job hunting except that we both also got sick as FUCK the next day #like vomiting shaking massive headache unable to function sick #his fever was like 104.7 at one point? it was ungood #i'm finally about 85% better and back on the job hunt but like. yeah #thought i had something lined up that would free me from the shackles of customer service but unfortunately the guy changed his mind #and the one pharmacy interview i had they wanted to pay me $10/hr 💀 homie that's a $9/hr pay decrease #so yeah life is a prison etc etc BUT not having a full time job anymore DOES mean #that i have the time and energy to tungl again without all the chronic exhaustion #silver linings!!!

Ugh 😭 I just wanted to not have to work my full shift today because 1) I just don’t want to, and 2) because I know I’m getting sick which means I’m definitely in a contagious stage, and 3) my stomach started hurting after I got to work, but I’m not gonna be able to leave early because we’re already scheduled with like just enough people

At least I’m off this weekend to hopefully get the worst of it out of the way, but god I just was talking to someone who said they had this for 2 weeks and I won’t be able to deal with this for 2 weeks

#asks #I hardly ever get sick and when I do I’m an awful sick person #just miserable tbh #can’t even call in sick to work because apparently I’ll get a point for that like what the hell #I literally never call in except for the time I had Covid (during Covid times so like I literally couldn’t be here for a week) and then one #other time when I’d been up all night throwing up #so that’s TWO TIMES in the SIX YEARS that I’ve worked here #but if I call out sick I’m gonna get in trouble for it?#I get it when it’s the people who call out sick all the time or the ones who leave early for bullshit reasons all the time #but I’ve been here for forever I do everything they ask of me and have called out twice #I stay over and I do deliveries when our caterer can’t I cover multiple positions at once I even answer the goddamn phone occasionally (and #I HATE talking on the phone) but when I’m sick with a sore throat and sneezing and a runny nose I have to be here or get a point #nah #also they say like if you call out sick you have to have a doctors note but I’m not going to the doctor because of a cold #but I also don’t think when I’m working with food and am face to face with the general public that I should be here #while sick like how’s it gonna look when the person taking your order has to keep blowing their nose and sneezing and then I’m gonna be #constantly washing my hands and it’s fucking cold outside and I have to stick my hand #out the window my skin is gonna crack so bad

my phone gets drunk at least once a month (gets drenched in beer by accident and stops working for 1 to 2 days) which is incresibly inconvenient but also nice because i can disconnect from social media for a whole ass day!

#except one time a drop of water fell on it and it stopped working as i was leaving work #and i was going to meet my friend in the big plaza in the city #and i literally left work and couldn't call her or do anything at all with my phone #she called me and i couldn't take the call #and so i just walked around the plaza looking for her #and then miraculously found her somehow and like i couldn't even uber home or anything #now i'm using my old phone #but idk if he will be fine this time... pray for me #like it's been 1 day in rice and nothing #just so you understand the phone is fine #simply the screen touch doesn't work #i think it's a safety measure from samsung cuz the old one caught water in the camera and it didn't open #untjl after it fully dried the phone wouldn't open the camera #so i guess it has some kind of sensor to know if it's wet inside and not let you use it so it doesn't break for real bc of heating and stuff #but idk i hope he becomes ok bc i don't have money for a new phone nor a screen repair
