Diluven Fanfic I Want to Read...

It's time for the annual Ludi Harpastum festivities, but someone on the town planning committee's suddenly gotten a brilliant idea to mix things up: Why not, rather than having a lovely maiden throw the harpastum, give that honor to the "uncrowned king of Mondstadt" instead, with a very special prize thrown into the mix to boot--the lucky citizen who catches the ball will win not just a year's worth of good fortune, but also a whole day's date with Diluc, complete with drinks and dining at the illustrious Dawn Winery!

(Truly this plan reeks of Kaeya, but they sent Barbara of all people to ask, and what is Diluc supposed to do, tell her to throw the ball herself? There's way too many weirdos in town nowadays for that; he's looking out for her safety, unlike some people--!)

But when the celebration finally arrives, Venti (who normally just watches these festivities play out, basking in the enjoyment--and the loose purses--of everyone else) feels an echo of an earlier, deeply unpleasant age: Diluc couldn't look more uncomfortable playing the role of Mondstadt's maiden, and the crowd is a little too eager to win the right to control Master Ragnvindr's time and attention.

What's any self-respecting archon to do, seeing one of his most dedicated citizens in such distress?

Why, swoop in and save the day, of course! (It's only right that someone entirely free of ulterior motives be the one to win the festival's good fortune, after all, and the fact that an exquisite dinner topped with all-you-can-drink dandelion wine is included in catching the ball this year absolutely did not weigh into Venti's decision to participate; what are you accusing him of?!)

So Venti easily catches the harpastum, and congratulates himself on rescuing his favorite bartender from a day of deep, personal embarrassment.

Unfortunately for Diluc, who has been nursing a silent and increasingly mortifying crush on Lord Barbatos since he was like ten years old, this is absolutely the worst possible outcome. It's one thing to sneak glances at your archon when he's playing at being a broke bard in your bar--it's another thing entirely to take him on a date.

(Kaeya knew the whole thing would be hilarious when the idea first dawned on him. But this? This is gold.)

Idk why this whole diluc vs kaeya argument is even happening like it's so dumb because there is objectively a correct opinion to have in this debate. I literally like diluc, he's genuinely one of my favorite characters in the game, and honestly that's part of why it's so fucking annoying to me when people downplay the fight or act like he was justified in attacking his visionless younger brother with pretty clear killing intent because he very much was not justified and it's not treated that way by the game itself either AND. If you approach kaeya's character in good faith the whole situation is really heart wrenching and so is his reaction to the whole crepus delusion thing but obviously none of these people ever do that because they're dumb as fuck and only take whatever is said about kaeya at face value or read him as more malevolent and ~shady~ than he actually is even though that's literally not how he's written & then when it comes to diluc they will entirely make shit up about his character that is nowhere to be seen in his actual characterization to make him nicer and more meek than he actually is . I need to stop bitching about this recreationally because I'm getting so mad I'm getting dizzy but you get the gist. It's just all around very clear when people will afford a character the benefit of the doubt when they react like an insane person to strong emotions vs when they will interpret someone's reaction to grief in the most cruel possible way literally entirely because they either consciously or subconsciously consider kaeya's grief at the loss of their father "less real" on account of him being adopted even though one fact that genshin keeps hammering into our brains at literally every chance they get is that family bonds don't depend on blood ties alone.

okay tho, OKAY THO, another fact because why not. Rai ALWAYS covers his ears when he is aware he is feeling embarassed around his friends, bc red ears are a super big tell tale sign. i go to this workout class at work and the instructor usually has us rotate through different exercises and today we did weighted sit-ups. they’re exactly what they sound like but if you don’t know, well start with laying on your back, plant the soles of your feet together so that your legs are open and bent at an angle, and your arms are stretched up above your head, with your hands wrapped around a dumbbell or some kind of weight. when you do your sit up, your arms come up and carry the weight over your head to place it in between your legs and then you do it in reverse until you’re back at your starting position (this is just one variation ofc)

normally i hate the idea of tickling mixed with exercise/workouts but if you were able to picture the aforementioned position then im sure you can imagine it’s a very exposed one (arms up, tummy and chest stretched, inside of thighs exposed) and the person doing the workout being exhausted but still having sets to do and being “encouraged” to finish them just by the mere sound of nails drumming against the floor but also dangerously close to their exposed underarm
