Often times it just so happens to be that no matter how hard you try, words just simply cannot make their way onto the paper in front of you. Maybe it’s you thats holding yourself back, maybe it’s life or school.

But that doesn’t matter to you, does it? The only thing that matters is your inability to act. You didn’t do what makes you, you. Your entire purpose, career, life, all revolves around creating- and you cant even do that.

But can you really blame yourself? Its not your fault, really it isnt. It cant be. Your mind cant formulate normal sentences anymore, your not as articulate as you once was, the muscles in your fingers have grown weak. That isnt your fault! Surely it isnt, if it was, you would have acted on them by now, wouldnt you have?

Forget it. Even that word looks odd. The r is out of place. R’s symbolize regal strength. Strength in aesthetic, strength in propriety. There is nothing strong about being forgotten. But then again, foget doesn’t sound right either. It’s like somethings missing, but I can’t wrap my head around what it is. It sounds so incomplete. Without strength, being forgotten is undefined, abstract, a sort of remembrance malleable to everyone but yourself. On Christmas Eve Cass Steph and Dick all break into Tim’s apartment to bring (kidnap) him to the manor for Christmas and see the usual stuff the ungodly amount of coffee and paper work for WE minimal decorations which they expect what they didn’t expect was the mountain of presents which isn’t a total shock Tim is a rather prominent socialite but at closer inspection half the gifts are from different villains/rouges some of the names include

:Lady shiva

And MANY more names for obvious reasons they are concerned and when Tim is opening his front door and Steph starts demanding answers from him and dick starts begging him not to turn into a supervillain (cass is drinking tea on the couch ready to enjoy the show) he is confused and and then the rest of the bats show up and start trying to talk him out of becoming evil (except Jason who thought this was hilarious and just a little terrifying) and now he is just trying to figure out what the fuck is going on until dick let’s it slip and they ask why Tim has presents from supervillains laying around and Tim just doesn’t know how to explain that he and said supervillains have exchanged gifts since his YJ days and pretends he doesn’t know why the gifts were there

So the bats start saying that they are gonna confront the supervillains cause this means that they might know secret identities until Bruce see’s an open card on the kitchen counter from Harley that is actually a invitation to a villain Christmas party which appears to be a few weeks old and a photo with Tim in his Red Robin suit hanging out at the party with all the rouges and Tim has to figure out a way to get out of this but he is Tim fucking drake so he can’t just admit it so somehow now everyone thinks there is a clone of Tim running around with the rouges which is why they send him cards gift etc and Tim goes along with it but so do the rouges (Tim to this day doesn’t know why but just thanks the gods they did) so Batman looks but can’t find any evidence anywhere eventually it goes to the back burner when joker escapes and they didn’t pick it up again and nobody figures out the truth until Harley invited Steph and cass to the same villain party and they see Tim discussing science stuff with ivy and now cass and Steph know but they don’t tell the rest of the bats and this doesn’t come up again until YEARS have passed and Tim is on really strong pain meds and felt so bad he admits it half of the bats think it’s the funniest thing ever the other half are concerned/upset Tim didnt tell them

girlygirl!reader stumbles upon loser!matt for the first time at a party

you hated the position you were currently in. you hadn’t planned on spending your saturday night at a random party full of sweaty drunk strangers. if it were up to you, you’d be at home in a face mask, reading your favorite books and relaxing. unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

you couldn’t handle it anymore, you tried to shimmy your way through the dancing crowd to try and find an escape. thankfully, you finally spotted the door that led to the front yard.

the yard was almost empty, except for a few people smoking and sitting around. you cautiously walked down the steps, rummaging through your purse for your keys. you were so focused on trying to find them that you didnt even see the next step, causing you to viciously trip.

you yelped, closing your eyes to brace for impact. that was until you felt a unfamiliar pair of arms wrap around you, stopping your fall. you look up, scanning the face of this stranger. he was dressed in all black baggy clothes, a beanie covering his messy hair. what caught your attention most was the black lip-ring sitting comfortably on his lips as his lips curl into a grin.

“y’should probably pay more attention when you walk”, he retorts in a jokingly manner. you stand upright , fixing your hair as your heart beats rapidly. you were embarrassed, to say the least. confrontation was never your thing, socializing in general was never something a shy girl like you looked forward to.

“i-im so sorry, i didnt even see where i was going-“, you begin to ramble before he cuts you off with his awkward chuckle. “you’re good, no big deal,” he begins, “why in such a rush,hm?”

you try catching your breath before answering him, attempting to appear as calm as possible. “i just, i’m not enjoying this party that much, wanted to go home”, you cringed at how emotional you sounded, parties like this are suppose to be fun, not nerve wrecking.

“y’know, im not much of a party person either, ‘m just here because its the easiest way to get free cigs”, he mutters, sensing your nerves as he tries to calm you down. “what’s your name, hm? never seen you around before.”

your heart began to race again, the convenience of this situation settling into your mind. “y/n, i dont really go to these types of parties.”, a soft smile creeps onto your face as you analyze him more. he was cute, definitely a face you wouldn’t be able to forget.

he pokes his cheek with his tongue as he repeats you name, “that’s a pretty name,” he mutters, “pretty name for a pretty girl.” at this point, the blush on your face was obvious to anyone who stood around you. he clearly knew the affect he was having on you.

“ ‘m matt, you planning on coming to another one of these parties anytime soon?” he questions. “oh- definitely not,” you giggle as you smile up at him. “i dont like parties at all- especially when i dont know anyone here.”

“hm- thats a shame,” he says under his breath, before his head pops up and his mouth opens, “y’know, i’ve seen you around town alot, walking around the library and the local cafe,” he utters, “you plannin’ on going there again anytime soon?”

you look at him in surprise, a wider smile forming as you nod your head. “tomorrow actually-“, you start before he cuts you off. “perfect, i’ll see you tomorrow afternoon?”, he suggests, his stupid smirk sitting on his face. “uhm- yeah, totally”, you say as he starts to walk you to your car.

getting into your car, he waves with his cigarette in between ring and middle finger. “bye pretty, see y’ soon”, he says as he walks away, leaving you blushing like an idiot in your car as a feeling of longing in your chest grows.

Harry discovered a journal while cleaning Grimmauld place.

It was a black journal, nothing fancy, seems incredibly simple for something that was found in the Black ancestral home. At the back of the cover was an elegant cursive stamp that says Property of Regulus Arcuturus Black.

After RAB’s involvement in the locket, Harry has grown curious of the man, he wanted to know more about his godfather’s younger brother. Was there more to his betrayal? Was there more to his sudden deflection? Was there more to RAB that Kreacher’s story and the simple note he left behind?

Curiosity getting the best of him, Harry opens the book. He was surprised to find it didnt have any protective charms or curses, maybe the magic disappeared now that the owner is no longer alive. Harry’s chest felt tight thinking that.

Continuing on, the journal was simple enough. Elegant writing covered the first few pages, a single style handwriting that seems to get neater and neater as Harry browses each pages. The content weren’t anything special, a note about a certain ingredient and its effect on potions, a spell to try, a historical figure to read about, and the reoccurring to read list that gets updated every other page.

The first few pages spoke of a boy living on his own, no personalized stories, nothing that will reveal how Regulus lived his life.

Until Harry turned to the next page and found a new handwriting. It was scrawny, messy, and written without a care. It didn’t seem to match with the journal’s aesthetic yet it somehow fits perfectly. The first one he saw from this handwriting was a capitalized NERD and a little heart. It made Harry laugh a little. Regulus didn’t seem to mind since he didn’t try to remove it.

Soon the handwriting keeps on appearing more and more, leaving longer notes, drawing more ridiculous things. None of it was ever erased.

And then finally at the last page it was empty except for one sentence. I love you, Reg.

When Harry tried to touch it he felt a shock of magic. He’s not sure it was possible for a dead person’ magic to leave an imprint in their old things but this did.

Regulus must have loved whoever wrote this for his magic to stay to keep this one page protected.

Harry put the journal away and wondered who Regulus could have loved that much.

I literally grew up watching this movie. My earliest memory is showing it to my best friend at a sleepover when I was like 6.

My entire WORLD as a kid was Book of Life. Got my first phone, what was the first thing in my music library? Book of Life. Every birthday and when I was sick, what would I pick? Book of Life. Hell, I wrote a self-insert as Manolo's older sister who was best friends with Maria and in love with Joaquin(before I figured I was gay, but like...Joaquin)

I DIDNT EVEN REALIZE IT WAS A JUKEBOX MUSICAL

Once I found one of my favorite cover artist Annapantsu's rendition of Can't Help Falling In Love With You, and I thought, "yes, she's seen Book of Life!" Ectasy of Gold? Saw those beer commercials and thought, "Hold up-" I heard Radiohead for the first time and I went, "Wait this was in Book of Life!"

But my God, I as a white person of European descent, adore Dia De Lose Muertos. It is my favorite holiday right after Halloween, because it's my excuse to watch Book Of Life on repeat. I know it entirely by heart, and-although I've now forgotten-I used to scare my sister because I could sing I Love You Too Much and The Apology Song in Spanish, without knowing a lick of the language otherwise. I HAVE A COPY OF A NOVELIZED VERSION OF THE MOVIE, ITS IN SPANISH, AND I UNDERSTAND EVERY WORD.

Okay okay, now onto the actual movie other than my experiences.

This thing is one of the best pieces of media I've consumed in literally forever. While it has certain flaws-pfft what am I saying, IT HAS LITERALLY LIKE ONE MINISCULE FLAW, AND I CANT EVEN PIN IT DOWN.

Im going to treat this as one of my movie reviews, just so I don't make this an entire essay lol

Plot: DUDE, THE PLOT?? it's just-beautiful. Just imagine it for a second, as if you were part of this as a main character like Manolo. You are in love with your best friend-your other best friend is in love with her too. You continue with your life, still in love even after she leaves for finishing school. When she returns you do your best to impress her, despite the fact you're kind of the village loser. You die, and when you get to the afterlife you find out that your love life has been betted on by literal gods, just cause they're bored?? I am shocked Manolo kept his cool as much as he did. And then the freaking bandits?? The battle?? I just fucking love this movie man.

Music: JUKEBOX MOVIE ALERT!!! Except one-I think two?-songs, everything is from somewhere else. And my gods, the conversion from whatever they used to be into the style of the movie is ASTOUNDING. I completely believed that Creep was supposed to be played on guitar like that. And then I could go on for literal hours about The Apology Song-and most of it would just be screaming in joy. I DON'T UNDERSTAND, IT'S JUST SO GOOD FOR NO REASON?

Writing: I do have to admit that maybe, occasionally, from time to time, rarely, the writing is a little strange. But then when there's real heavy scenes-okay who am I kidding, the writings amazing. Manolo? Peak. He molded what my type would be. Selfless, strong, but allows you to be independent, a complete pathetic cat to his lover. His conflict can be felt by anyone with disapproving guardians, or even those who just had disappointed figures in their life. And Diego Luna???? Fuck. Perfect character right there.

Maria? Badass. Likes to lead a little on, but what girl hasn't? She's the leader's daughter and has a pet pig. Need I say more? And Zoe Saldana fucking smashed the role.

I LOVE Joaquin. When I saw Deadpool and Wolverine and my friends pointed out Channing Tatum I went, "JOAQUIIN" and they stared like I was senile. I do honestly believe that he is extremely underrated within this niche Fandom. Just saying, I had an epiphany a few years ago: How did Joaquin feel?

Maria was believed to be dead. Blinded by grief he tells his best friend that it should have been him. I entirely believe that he was the one to return to the tree. To apologize, of course. And what does he find? His best friend, dead. He doesn't have anyone left. Maria comes back, and he can only imagine the pain she's feeling. He hates that General Posada is only thinking of marriage at a time like this.

And if he hadn't been the one to find Manolo? Then it was Carlos. And Joaquin watched as a man he respected carry his best friend's body out of the fog from the lonely dock. Or perhaps Carlos buried him right under the tree, and returned with nothing but grief.

And he completely accepts Manolo and Maria's love! He definitely felt hurt, but I'm sure it took a minute because he was just happy Manolo was alive man. He'll find love, I'm sure he will. He'll get a medal from me, no doubt.

Im simply saying, Joaquin had the most development of everyone in this movie.

La Muerte and Xibalba? Peak on and off married couple. La Muerte is hot as hell, and Xibalba's hilarious. Candlemaker, peak. Carlos, peak. The Mariachi Brothers, peak. Luis, peak. Carmen, peak. Book, peak. Even the detention kids were so incredible!

Overall movie: This movie has so many layers, and it can be enjoyed by all ages. I have enjoyed it since I first watched it, and I will adore it until I die. I will have this play at my funeral, and all you sick fucks are invited.

I heard my dad call me from the living room. It was during COVID so I was a little under the weather. I go to the living room, and he's showing a new release on Netflix: Maya And The Three.

AND THEN I STARTED WATCHING?!?!?!!! AND IM INSTANTLY HIT WITH...ZOE SAL-FUCKING-DANA.

Guys...this thing reignited something in me. The absolute fabulousness of the entire show screamed "Gutierrez". While no one was bursting into Radiohead this time, I swear my heart gave out from all the absolute nostalgia I was getting, and the new story that was tugging my heartstrings in a direction they had never gone.

(You can only imagine how I felt with that La Muerte Xibalba and Candlemaker cameo lol)

I adored every character, but I feel like one can guess who my favorite was haha...

Hes so pathetically down bad for Maya and I can't blame him one bit. LOOK AT THAT FACE!!! I wanna squish it.

Man his reincarnations are gonna feel that lovestruckness. (*cough,* MANOLO, *cough*)

This entire thing, even with all the deaths, I just adore.

I FELT THAT SCREAM WHEN ZATZ DIED. I FELT THAT SCREAM FROM MAYA DEEP IN MY CORE.

AND THEN THEY BROUGHT BACK THE MISBEGOTTEN SON OF A LEPROUS DONKEY BUT JUST A LIL DIFFERENT I CLOCKED THAT IMMEDIATELY AND SCREAMED.

Rico, Chimi, Picchu, Lance, Daggers, Shield, Camazotz, Puma princess, Micte, Queen Teca, Chiapa, Apush-I love every single character in this show.

hehe my take on gelphie, specifically for the wicked movie /(2024) hehe is that Elphaba had a healthy little crush on Galinda in the beginning of their friendship— which was why she was so shocked when Galinda shared that she planned on marrying Fiyero one day— but then as they got more involved in each others lives, Elphaba let her crush go and decided to focus her energy on appreciating Galinda’s friendship. so that will also add a layer of distress when she sort of falls head over heels for Fiyero, bc she literally overcame feelings already to preserve her friendship with Galinda,. The things is, Fiyero is so out of nowhere, where they have mutual interest but not that solid groundwork of friendship, that Elphaba doesn’t really have anything to translate it to, so she’s sort of drowned by these feelings. (So like, giving strong lacy by Olivia Rodrigo, when she sings I’m not that girl bc she does find those aspects of Galinda appealing, but it’s no longer her resisting that and it’s fully her regretting that she has no actual shot again— her interpretation— and wishing she were the sort of person who could be loved and chosen back.)

also, other thoughts I had, was that when Elphaba zapped everyone to sleep except for Fiyero to save the cub, I think it was more like a subconscious, magic-driven thing. She chose the person who would break societal expectations to help her, and she did it without even knowing ot. bc remember she was a bit caught off guard by what her magic did and she was even more so when Fiyero dashed to save the creature. at the end of the day she knows Galinda, knows that she likes being popular and beloved, knows that she sort of needs it to go on being happy and fulfilled. She knows this in some deep level and that’s why she doesn’t turn to her in crisis, despite her undoubtedly being much closer to her than anyone else in the room (except was nessarose there? even then, nessa was always troubled and was outwardly burdened by her sister’s peculiarities) . and I think the reason she chose Fiyero, or her magic did, or he subconscious did, was bc at some level she knew he matched her freak (hehe excuse me) and that he did have a bleeding heart. She sensed that he had more to offer and trusted that possibility rather than the more real chance that Galinda would panic and hinder the cubs rescue, something she wanted to do and hadn’t even planned or thought of yet. but, see, Fiyero did. The second he caught on to what happened, he dashed.

The point is, Elphaba loved Galinda bc Galinda chose her and tried to give her what she always wanted. Popularity, credibility, a community where she was supported and loved and respected. Even more, accepted. And ofc she fell for the other Galinda quirks.

But when Elphaba came to the conclusion that she shouldn’t dream too far, she found true comfort and joy in Galinda friendship.

And when Elphaba made to run away from all of Oz, to live as an outlaw, obviously Galinda wasn’t going to go with her. It’s entirely in her character to want to be on the ‘good side’ of the people, even if it’s the wicked one. She didnt have Fiyeros conviction, athat not the poiny of her character, even if she had run off with Elphaba,, there’s a very real chance she would have resented Elphaba almost immediately or tried to return back to Oz. And that’s understandable bc forsaking an entire hirtosy and land for someone is an insane thing to do.

Something only Fiyero would do.

Anyways, this is a gelphie post so I’m gonna talk about Galinda in all of this. Even tho in my fic I wrote her to be self aware, I genuinely see Galinda as sort of not absorbing all her feelings for Elphaba. They are there and she knows they are importancy and valuable but she doesn’t pick at ot and try and make sense of it. Bc, in her head, if everything stays the same, she could have it all, the prince she always dreamed of, and the person she cherished above all else right within reach. In her mind, everything was going to work itself out so nothing was a problem. So, when Fiyero starts to pull away, when Elphaba seems drawn to him, and when Elphaba eventually tries to run away and take Galinda with her— Galinda freezes. She sort of tries to work with what’s left, her status, her relationship with Fiyero, and she’s trying to reassemble the perfect life she should have had, and she’s absolutely miserable, and every time she gets an opportunity to near Elphaba she takes it. She’d take it in any capacity likely.

Bc she might blame Elphaba for being difficult and not staying or choosing her, but ultimately Galinda has pushed her boundaries and challenged her own worldview for Elphaba without Elphaba asking. Like at the dance scene, where her guilt and sudden understanding of her rival/roommate moved her to risk it all— tho maybe she consoled herself later and dismissed it, claiming her popularity was never at risk— to try and comfort Elphaba and bridge the gap properly, finally. And later, when she changed her name to Glinda, it’s was bc she felt left out, like she needed to prove herself, like the people she had chosen for herself were moving on without her, amd so she made a flashy bid to catch up. And, also, think, briefly, about how absolutely devastating it must be to be so goddamn ambitious and be constantly besides the most powerful witch around. Galinda may have assured herself that her popularity would carry her through, but truly, you don’t see her ego or pride flare up much if at all around Elphaba, fully embracing that they had different strengths, and well Glinda did say that the greatest ppl weren’t necessarily competent but rather popular (wicked foreshadowing and cruelest of ironies) so that likely helped her a bunch. Ok, so, also, think about how instead of retreating or hiding or running off, when everything went to whit with the guards and flying monkeys chasing Elphaba, she followed Elphaba. Like there never really was a choice.

That just sort of shows, there was so many missed calls, so many almosts.

Glinda was tempted to go with Elphaba. She almost did— hence their duet.

Galinda could have won Elphaba’s heart, she had it, but she fell in love too late and recognized was too late. They could have been in love, it almost overlapped.

Galinda is the type of person who Elphaba could love, but not in those circumstances. It was almost perfect. Like actually, roommates, rivals, best friends, crazy codependent, opposites, they literally could have had it all. And they almost did.

But at the end of the day, Glinda wasn’t ready and Fiyero was fucking ready to go, and Elphaba had already dismissed the possibility of romance between the two of them (gelphie I mean) bc it had seemed impossible. And as much as it almost was, they never could be. Not in those circumstances, not the way it unraveled.

anywhas, this was a very long little rant to tell you I have two fics in the work for them, one that is Elphaba centric (w/ her being oblivious and trying to hold onto Galinda’s friendship) and one where they have doomed hanahaki, but Elphaba has it first and is encouraged by Madam Morrible to kill it (bc she can’t risk the star student, ofc, no nefarious reasons…lol) wnd after she removes that and all her romantic feelings, Galinda gets it shortly after when Elphaba leaves Oz and she’s just choking on all the love, waiting for the opportunity to get Elphaba alone so she can confess, make her stay and such, but then she finds out that Fiyeor and Elphaba are in love and she is forced to rid herself of the love, and so when she tells aelphabas story’, there is a cavity where all the romantic love was and she’s mourning that AND Elphaba and it’s so sad

alright so the main places for this au are called Elation and Cimmerian. Elation is basically paradise for a lack of better word. nobody knows who created the place, but it's been there for as long as their history books can remember.

Cimmerian on the other hand, is like a dump (?). its a graveyard for all unwanted creation, where they're thrown there to rot and die. or at least they used to rot and die there, until the (clean up) where the dumpster pets decided that they were sick of just sitting around waiting and hoping for a chance at life so they decide to create their own.

Elation has a set of rules, and also a ruler., except nobody friggin knows who the ruler is and the rules are just something expected of all Elation Drones to know, engraved into their codes. the ruler is also known as the creator to drones in Cimmerian, and boy is the creator hated LMAO

N is a Elation Drone, Drones perfected by the ruler and given permission to play eternally in their paradise. as one of the first few biological Angel Drones, he's treated well and has a considerably high rank amongst the other creations in Elation.

(biological Angel Drones and Angel Drones are differentiated by their wings. N has feathered wings, a sign of being a creation made with blood and flesh from the ruler. they're more powerful)

Uzi on the other hand, is a Cimmerian Drone. more accurately, a shapeshifting Cimmerian Drone. she stays with her dad in a small gloomy town called Copper 9.

she got her shapeshifting genes from her mom, who used to be a biological Angel Drone, but then defected and was tossed out by the creator. her dad is just an ordinary Cimmerian Drone, which are basically drones who were thrown out because of one wrong code or another.

anyway the main storyline is the creator, having noticed how Cimmerian was suddenly flourishing, sent down some of its creations in order to wreak havoc and disturb the peace. N just so happens to be one of the drones that was sent, being one of the most powerful and all.

i'll work on this au more because i'm ngl this is hella fun <33 will likely make a book for it eventually :3 and will also be makkng N and uzi a proper reference sheet in due time !!!!

I've come to understand that participating in fandom is the point of engaging with media for a large portion of people and that's deeply weird to me

Maybe it's because I didnt engage with the fanfic/fanart side of fandom when I was younger and because when I got back into fandom and started writing fanfic I wrote the fanfic before connecting with the fandom and that pattern has kinda followed suit. No matter the why, I also saw fandom as an expansion of the media I'm in. I get excited about a piece of media and want to talk to other people, find like minded folk, and talk to them

That's the fandom spaces I was in online. Where it was just talking about the current shows or related interests on forums in a kind of chill way. Except they tended to be male dominated and later explicitly misogynistic which is why I stopped engaging with any fandom from my mid twenties until my 30s

But the point is participating in fandom was never the driving force of enjoyment or involvement with a particular media. It was a fun extra and a cool way to meet people but it wasn't why I was getting into stuff

So when I see people stressing so much about engagement and following the newest popular fandom and complaining about small fandoms I'm just a little confuddled because that's so far from how I see fandom

And I'm not necessarily saying one is better then the other I'm just realising that for some people fandom is the why more then the thing the fandom is about. And fandom is serious business and competitive and intense. And as someone who was not engaging with it that way it's surprising

It's like coming to what you thought was a potluck and finding out everyone else sees this as a serious cooking competition and you were just there for the free food

But also they're ok with you being there for the free food but they keep talking to you about how no one respects the competition rules anymore and you weren't aware there are any rules but then they say something nice about your dish before complaining about someone you never heard of but everyone else knows.

It's a nice if somewhat confusing experience

THEIR CONTACT NAME IN YOUR PHONE ft Sylus & Xavier

A/N: This is mainly for Malaysian/Indonesian girls because the names are heavily related to Malaysian/Indonesian language

SYLUS🪶

You were in the shower at Sylus’, washing the day away after a particularly hard mission and unlike any other days, you had left your phone on the bed.

Now, Sylus wasnt usually one to breach your privacy but lately something had piqued his curiosity.

Unlocking your phone with his face ID, he opened up your message app. Right at the top was his name- his very recognizable name except for a little addition at the end.

*Sylusku*

His eyebrows furrowed, a little disappointed at the simplicity of the name. He would have expected something sweet, seeing that both had been dating for sometime now.

Maybe something like Lover, or Darling. Hell, he doesnt mind if it was Sy Sy even, but just his name was a little surprising.

In his wonder, he didnt realize you were done showering.

“Um, Sylus, what are you doing on my phone?”

He looked up to the sight of you half naked and tried to keep focus on the task at hand.

“What does Sylusku mean, kitten?” He asked, voice low and uncharacteristically unsure.

You immediately turned red, walking closer to your lover. “Uh, it means: My Sylus. To add -ku in my language means to show that something belongs to you.” Doubt grows in you as you observe Sylus’ reaction.

While it has been a few months since you both started dating, maybe calling him yours was a bit too presumptuous.

Sylus simply hummed, low in his throat and you fidget under his thoughtful gaze.

“If youre uncomfortable with it, I can change it. It’s no big de–“ Before you were able to finish your nervous rambling, Sylus had pulled your wrist towards himself causing you to fall directly into his arms.

“Now, why would I be uncomfortable with such a fitting name. I am indeed yours, and I wouldnt have it any other way” he confessed as his lips met yours.

XAVIER ✨

Both you and Xavier were relaxing in your apartment. As of late it seems like the apartment upstairs had become less and less of use.

You were sitting on the couch, with Xavier sprawled out, head in your lap.

His eyes were closed, content with lying on your lap along with your hands playing with his hair.

You were also absentmindedly humming a tune. It wasnt something he was familiar with but he recognize it due to how frequent you hum it. He wasnt sure whether you even realize it yourself.

“Y/N, what song are you humming? It’s very soothing” He questioned, curiosity finally getting the best of him.

“Oh, uh, it’s a song from my childhood. It reminds me of you.” You answered, surprised that Xavier was awake.

“Sing it for me” he asked.

Though not really confident with your singing voice, you listened.

Why Izuku FEELS like a Failure Hero

So, it's no secret by now that the final chapter of My Hero Academia ended on a less than universally loved ending.

There is a small host of reason why this is, but one i see thrown around a lot withouth any analysis really going into it, is the idea that Izuku was a failure hero.

He wasnt of course, Izuku though he could not save Tenko... But he did defeat both Shigaraki and All For One.

He saved the world, he restored peace and order to Japan and stopped a rampage that would have seen the entire island sunk beneath the waves and everyone on it except for Shigaraki's personal inner circle dead.

He saved millions, upon millions of lives and ended the life and times of AFO, the great evil of over a hundred years.

He was also instrumental in stopping the third movie's villain, and was one of the people of saved billions of lives by doing so.

He is withouth any doubt, the MHA World's greatest hero, bar none.

So with that in mind... why does izuku FEEL like an utter failure in the end? He might not logically be one, but he sure as hell FEELS like one.

Why?

Well, to put it bluntly, this particular problem stems from 2 overarching parts.

The first is of course that Izuku had a bad ending. He returned to being Quirkless, didnt get to live his dream, he seemingly begun to be the one guy that Class A begun to leave behind(Even with the surprise at the end, it doesnt change the fact that we get nothing to suggest he remained particularily close with any of them, and the fact they kept this plan a secret for 5 years just makes everything worse), and has been forgotten.

That is a full on bad ending, and the fact the narrative refuses to focus on that and acknowledge the fact that this is a horrible outcome for izuku, is one of it's mayor problems.

However, that is only the first big problem of the final chapter, and it's the more obvious one that pisses so many people off.

But just because he had a bad ending, does not mean that Izuku had to feel like a failure hero. After all, plenty of Heroes had bad endings, and did not feel like failure Heroes.

Batman both in the DCAU and in the Dark Knight Returns stopped being Batman, and yet i dont think you would find many people who would say either felt like failures at the end of the day in their stories.(well unless you count the terrible sequels Miller wrote after he went off the deep end, but that's a subject for another day).

I could pull out a lot of examples of similar heroes who in the end quit or died and who very much doesnt FEEL like failures, but i want to continue to focus on DCAU Batman in particular for one, very specific reason that illustrates so well why Izuku feels like a failure, even if he ultimately isnt one.

Batman Beyond opens on an old Bruce Wayne's last night as batman, when he decides to finally quit after a heart attack forces him to threaten a man with a gun.

In his own mind, he is a failure, and it is this action that finally breaks his spirit.

But most fans dont consider this Bruce a Failure at all. Why?

Well it certainly helps that he has so many other amazing feats and accomplishments across the rest of the DCAU, so it's hard to blame him for this one, single moment, but there is a bigger reason.

Bruce Wayne's big mission in life, was to clean up gotham city.

He did a lot of things outside of that, such as saving the world multiple times, but this was his great mission, his goal, the thing that truly drove him.

And you know what?

He suceeded.

Crime would return both big and small scale, but Bruce Wayne's choice to keep going for years and years, ending up outlasting all the traditional supervillains and street criminals of his age, allowed Gotham to flourish, and become an incredibly advanced and developed futuristic city.

For All that Batman Beyond is about deconstructing Bruce and his personal relationships and how they fell to pieces, He WON the war.

It might not have been a total victory, but every single episode of Batman Beyond that showcases Gotham showcases that The Dark Knight's Crusade was NOT in vain. He gave EVERYTHING for this cause, and he won.

Bruce might never be able to mentally appreciate it, because it was not a total victory that led to no more crime forever, but we the reader can.

We can see the change in Gotham from before he started, into his early years, his prime, the later years, and finally where it is now in Beyond.

It was a long, and bumpy road, but Gotham's number one son succeeded in his great goal of cleaning up his city and making it prosperous and reaching the heights his parents dreamed for it.

His legacy is clear and lives on, long, long past the days when he stalked the night.

He was not a failure, neither on the logical level, nor in that he feels like one.

And you know what? The DCAU crew managed to make that clear, even though I dont think there wasnt a single statue in all of Gotham dedicated to the Dark Knight.

Now, lets compare this to Izuku.

Izuku also gave EVERYTHING for his cause.

His body is a scarred and deformed mess, because time and again, wheter it be to defeat villains, or just helping people, he was always willing to sacrifice every bit of himself to do it.

Izuku gave away his quirk, and with his future.

and though it was reversed, he gave away his arms just to TRY to help Tenko.

He more than anyone else, gave EVERYTHING for this fight. He gave away his body, dreams, future, EVERYTHING for the cause, and he pulled it off!

He beat All For One, he saved the world and countless lives.

So, why then does he feel like a loser at the end?

Is the fact that he ended up alone and forgotten by society at large really why?

That's what happened to DCAU Bruce Wayne after all... But that's not really it.

The Reason Izuku Feels like a loser at the very end, is that the last chapter does not in any way feel like he contributed anything to help usher in this new age, nevermind that HE above ANYONE ELSE was the one that made it happen!

The idea of having a final chapter showcasing the successfull futures of everyone else EXCEPT for Izuku who ultimately didnt get to live his dream is NOT a bad idea at all.

It might not be how i would have ended it, but even taking away the idea of a reversal at the end, you could make that sort of ending satifsying.... IF you spent that chapter showcasing what a difference Izuku made in everyone else's life.

Because that would have hammered in the point that HE was the one that made it all happen. HE was the catalyst for all of these people to continue on and grow into great Heroes.

Shoto is a great example.

What we get of how he ended up is a really sweet thing... But you know what would have been way, way better?

If we had a scene of him being interviewed, and he talked about how it was IZUKU who was HIS great hero, and inspired him to become the hero he ultimately became.

But we dont. For anyone.

Not one time, amongst all of Izuku's friends and acquaintances are we reminded or shown in this final chapter how much he inspired and motivated them forward.

Not ONCE.

The closest we get, is Kota asking Izuku a question while blushing, and the only thing that tells us is that Kota is still a bit shy in his teenage years.

The ONLY character in this ENTIRE chapter who actually feels inspired by Izuku is Dai, and even is untientionally backhanded, when it's clear that it's not that Izuku really inspired him, the way All Might Inspired Izuku, but rather that this kid is a Hero Otaku like Izuku himself who just so happens to recognize Izuku amongst a lineup of heroes.

He's not even the first Hero the kid Thinks of after All Might!

ENDEAVOR IS!

THE GUY WHO IS PUBLIC KNOW TO HAVE ABUSED HIS KIDS, RAPED HIS WIFE, AND WHO'S OLDEST SON WAS AN INFAMOUS SERIAL KILLER THAT ENDEAVOR BROUGHT ABOUT!!!

THIS is the problem with this chapter.

This chapter elevates EVERYONE else, EXCEPT for Izuku.

When people complain that Izuku didnt even get a statue for saving the world, when monoma did, and it's shut down as "it was never about fame for izuku", they are missing the forest for the trees.

The Problem is not that Izuku didnt even get a statue. The fact he didnt get a statue, is part of a greater problem that new age does not in ANY WAY fell like something that Izuku was the main driver in bringing into being.

So apparently there was a statue after all... And the fact it's so inconsequential that at first point you'd be forgiven for thinking it was actually Kirishima, as I thought at first.

That said, the fact it is so tiny a detail actually hammers in my point that Izuku feels completely inconsequential to this chapter even more.

Even the whole class A getting Izuku back into the game feels like it completely shits all over Izuku, like he did not matter at all in making this new age, the age where this class is able to shine.

We are not in ANY WAY given a SINGLE insight into their thoughts about all this! The reason why so many people shit ALL OVER their stupid plan to NOT tell Izuku ANYTHING is that this is the ONLY THING we actually know about how they felt about all of this!

And because this is the only insight we get into their thoughts, the only thing we can say for sure, is that whatever their feelings were, they did NOT RESPECT Izuku at all, despite everything they went through together.

They decided his future for him withouth ever asking, and let him continue for over half a decade resigned to his new job that despite everything he says, he clearly was not happy with.

This moment could have been the culmination of their bonds with Izuku, where they finally repaid him for everything... But instead it just hammers in the point that Izuku FEELS like a huge loser that DID NOT MATTER in the slightest in the end.

That's not true, but that IS how it feels.

Izuku could not achieve anything by his own power, and the people who helped him achieve his goals? Well they clearly did not respect Izuku, and they did not seem to care to go out of their way to keep their relationship with him going strong through the years.

what it FEELS like, is that a bunch of school buddies throwing one of their former friends a bone now that they have all made it big, rather than an actual long term motivation because they really loved Midoriya.

honestly, this entire chapter feels like Hori took it for granted that the reader would just think "See all these people Izuku was aquainted with succeed? Remember how strong his bonds with them are?" and make us immediatly just take the most charitable reading possible at face value.

It clearly WANTS us to think that way, that all of this was only possible thanks to Izuku, but it doesnt actually do ANY attempt at selling this idea.

This world, and the people in it, does not in any way feel like Izuku was the one who brought it and them about. That might be the logical truth, but it does not feel like it at all.

This is what i have for my FreaksAU for now, about how Silver and Sonic were before being turned into non-mobians and how said incident happened, that i wrote in a google doc

Everything that happens after is yet to be written alr lol

Lets see

Silver and Sonic have been besties for a long time. They both were orphans and have been to plenty of temporary households through their lifes, although they always managed to find each other whenever they moved

At some point, Silver left his house at night and was attacked by a vampire, but instead of being killed like most vampires would do, they left, and he was just left there.

What Silver didnt knew was that Sonic had also recently been attacked while he wandered around, and not by a vampire but by a werewolf, which he probably invaded their territory and managed to escape, while they probably thought he was gonna die from blood loss by his wounds, but he didnt.

Some days went by, and Silver decided to meet up with Sonic in the quiet place they usually went to, and he wasnt having it any better, most of his wounds very pretty much healed, except the bite in his right leg, and they were both starting to show symptons of their conditions, silver had a strange repulse to direct sun light and sonic had a very strong sense of smell that made him nauseous. Seeing that things were getting strange after the incidents happened they decided to try and keep contact more often and meet up again...

Until it became something urgent

Silver one night "awakened" (went from a living mobian to a undead vampire [non-mobian]) and killed a random civilian on his frenzy (when you wake up, you wake up hungry 😈) and the first person he went to call when he came back to his senses was Sonic, which didnt pick up cuz he was having his own little frenzy somewhere else, being a recently turned werewolf he had 0 control either, so until Sonic turned back to normal Silver was just

When Sonic got back to normal (it was still midnight by the way) he went straight to Silver, he didnt knew how he had found him but he did, and he was basically in the middle of nowhere in some florest park and there were no people nearby at this hour, he was too scared to go back "home", and so was Sonic, so they both sat there in the ground for some minutes, talked about what had happened, and decided to find somewhere empty and probably abandoned to stay for the night

They really trust each other like brothers even though they arent related

Lance missed rain. As much as he missed his family and his home, he missed rain almost as much.

However, rain has to exist somewhere out in the universe, right? Even if he can't go home, Lance should be able to feel rain and soak it.

I have no summary for this beyond Lance and Keith get ambushed and Lance is a determined motherfucker who fights dirty. Keith is mildly turned on and largely impressed.

you ever want to see lance, feral, thinking only of protecting his family, rip someone’s throat out with his teeth? no? well, i didnt either, but it turns out that i needed to read it, so. and just to clarify this series isnt just lance going batshit insane, although there is plenty of that, it also has some tender klance gong over trauma so thats fun

Lance has a secret, and he’s taking it to the grave –except, he didn’t think the ‘taking it to the grave’ bit would happen quite so soon.

When the team head planetside on a diplomatic mission, Lance can’t decide if he’s ecstatic about it, or about to endure an intense bout of homesickness. Sure, the planet looks cool, the aliens themselves are pretty chill considering they’ve singlehandedly fended off Galra attacks up until now. But thanks to Pidge making the team clocks that run on Earth time, Lance knows that it’s almost his nineteenth birthday.

Yeah, he’s gonna go with the homesickness.

Unfortunately for him, the aliens they visit have two distinct qualities that, in any other circumstance, Lance would find cool; the ability to sense emotions, and the complete inability to keep secrets. That extends to their allies, as well.

He probably would have continued thinking those were pretty amazing skills –until the aliens sense negative emotions between the Paladins, and demand that to secure an alliance, the team must heal the dissent brewing in the fine cracks between each other thanks to the secrets they’re keeping, no matter how trivial.

Yeah. Homesickness probably wasn’t the right way to go.

okay, full disclaimer, this series isnt finished and i doubt it ever will be. HOWEVER. this fic is, and this fic is fucking stellar. magical realism has always been a fave of mine, and of course add vld and klance to that and ill always go feral. if you want to see amazing mcclain family backstory and tension so thick you could gnaw on it, swallow the L and read this fic you’ll only be a litle devastated that you won’t see how the series ends

4. Bruises by @admiralcanthackett

Lance is cornered by a Galra, cut off from the rest of his team. When he hears their disparaging comments, instead of asking for help when he can, he hides how hurt he is. He doesn't want them to think he's anymore useless than he already is.

you can tell that the author was mad when fae wrote this and honestly? yeah. yeah, sometimes u just have to be mad. sometimes thinks go to shit and its everyone’s fault and your pain becomes physical and you just have to grit your teeth and tell everyone to go fuck themselves. thats what lance goes thru here

Lance overhears one of the aliens insulting Keith after a successful mission and loses his temper.

yes another admiral fic but let me live i have always been obsessed with these fics and there are just so MANY of them okay. there will be more. but i like this one bc who doesn tlike protective lance??? who doesnt like keith realising that he’s worthy of being defended??? like cmon now
