re: them being textually alienated from their own desires, YES im always saying this and it makes it really tricky to analyze characters' sexualities. theres a whole substory in y0 (mr. libido) where majimas takeaway from it is that he needs to be "more honest with himself about his desires"

but he's referring to the fact that he has no sexual interest in women. he's saying he needs to stop lying to himself and forcing himself into this box because he thinks its what he *should* be doing, because, y'know, that's just what men do. speaking of.

even though he is nothing like this. so what gives? what personal experience are you drawing from here, majima?? of course this is only one possible answer he can give, the other is the one i mentioned in the tags earlier, that men and women can be friends. but the fact remains that this is something you can say as majima.

there's also something to be said about how he consistently abstracts himself out of conversations about sexuality and relationships and men and women. it's all "men like this" "women like that" but it doesn't even occur to him to include himself in the analysis, place himself on the playing field, so to speak. except for some reason when it comes to lumping himself in with men about being "beasts", then it's "us" and "we" suddenly. of course this could just be localization, so i can't say anything for sure, but i still find it interesting

he is very alienated from his sexuality in y0, seemingly ashamed or embarrassed to even talk or think about it, but i think that is precisely what obfuscates the true nature of his desires or lack thereof. there's this huge mental and emotional barrier that he can't look past. and nishitani frees him from that. but instead of clarifying things, it just obfuscates things more. he becomes more confusing. to himself. because now he's just performing it, and in a very exaggerated way, at that. that's just another barrier. and i think a lot of what majima is doing is just avoiding mirrors

i would talk about mad dog here but i have an extensive section on it in the analysis im working on so i won't get into it rn, but yes i do find it absolutely fascinating the dynamics at play when rgg guys are fighting, especially in majima's case because of the performative hypersexuality, and pairing that energy with kiryu who is as asexual as it gets makes for a very compelling and interesting dynamic. it raises more questions than it answers them, and that's what makes it fun to analyze

i will say i do think its somewhat reductive to phrase the question as a binary choice between fighting because they're yearning vs. because they're compelled to, i think "fighting" in rgg games (as lost judgment spells out) is just a way of communication like any other, and an active, conscious choice. and it's not necessarily born out of any internalized notions about how men can express their emotions around each other -- that is to say, even if they hadn't internalized that, there's nothing to suggest they wouldn't be fighting anyway. so i dont think its entirely accurate to treat fighting in rgg as something done in the place of something else, a second-choice, a compromise, something you settle for because the ideal method is inaccessible to you, etc.

TL;DR i dont think majima actually cares about sex all that much if at all

Timmy doesn't like how they taste. No matter who, how or where they're made, the muffins are all the same to him. It's frustrating because he knows they shouldn't be.

And each time he walks away feeling immense disappointment. Like something should've happened.

He does his best to avoid eating them, but, Timmy found that people react weirdly when you say you don't like muffins. So he eats them anyways. He's unfortunately surrounded by muffin-nuts.

tfone au where OP is created as the last of the primes but way after them, a sparkling born at what were thought to be the last days of the war against the quintessons, the beginning of a new generation of peace after eons of war. a child meant to be loved and raised knowing nothing of war nor sacrifice.

he's kept mostly out of the spotlight by his siblings, who don't wish to expose him to everyone's optics so young, and want to wait until the war is done and over to properly introduce him to their people.

except of course the primes are betrayed and murdered by sentinel, the war is lost and everyone who knows and cared for the truth is either banished or outright killed in order to suppress it.

and the high guard, the ones the primes trusted the most, the ones that were supposed to protect them, the ones who failed in their most important duty, have to make a choice. to take the last prime, their last hope, with them to the surface, a hostile environment where there's little to no supplies and where they'll be hunted down by both sentinel and the quintessons as the biggest threat to their regimen.

or hide him in plain sight. place him where sentinel won't think to look for him. one more sparkling among many. and hope it will be enough to keep him alive. pray to primus that he'll protect his last child long enough for them to come back for him when it's safer (even if most of them have already lost their faith on him when he allowed the rest of his children to be massacred like that)

they almost lose their resolve when they realize they will have to take the little one's cog away in order to make him blend in with the rest of the newborns (and oh do they burn with murderous intent when they see what sentinel has done to their people but it's not the time yet-) but in the end they decide an impaired little prime is better than a dead one.

and so in the chaos of thirteen dead primes and a sudden energon crisis, a little sparkling who very few mechs really knew about and even fewer had seen completely vanishes. and in the depths of iacon a mech in charge of a new batch of newborns scratches their helm in confusion as they realize they must have miscounted the first time.

optimus prime is quietly erased from any official records by sentinel, written off as dead when they find a sparkling's frame mangled beyond recognition after an attack on the base of those rebels that insist on being a thorn on his side. killing the sparkling hadn't been precisely in his plans, he probably could've found some use for it after all, but he's not particularly upset about it either.

and orion pax grows up with an ache on his spark that tells him he's missing something far more important than a t-cog and dreams of gentle and loving hands, cradling him against the frames of mechs he cannot recall the faces of.

REAL!! he’s such a hypocrite because if someone mentioned you had a work husband, his entire world would stop and he wold devise the absolute worst plans to make sure that your co-worker, everyone at your job, and everyone in the next building over knew that he was happily committed to you 

but if he is the work husband, he’s very........ dutiful in his role. there’s a loose office/lawyer au in my head where satoru is your secretary, and for all intents and purposes, your personal assistant, and he’s good at his job, but mostly because he considers his job to be pleasing you. he has coffee for you when you arrive, he moves your schedule around without you asking, he has answers to questions before you can even ask them, he has fresh flowers on your desk weekly, pokes into your meetings to pretend to hand you a file that’s really just maybe a single document in a manilla folder with candy on top of it—he’s made himself your business, your partner; he’s made himself irreplaceable, and he loves to remind everybody of that fact. 

he’s also extremely loyal. sure, he could day a week’s worth of work done in about a day, but that doesn’t mean he’ll just use his talents for anybody. he’s your secretary, so he’s at your beck and call, and everyone knows it. they know he’s the best, but also that he’s off limits—not because you won’t share him, but because satoru won’t let himself be shared. 

he also extends his duties beyond work, of course. when he hands you a print out of your schedule for the day and you’re confused by the three-hour block of time you have in the middle of the day, satoru just helps you shrug your coat of your shoulders and smiles, “that’s for the lunch date you have with me, of course!” hanging up your coat in your closet for you, “i’m paying, see you soon, sweets.” and because you’re great at your job, and satoru helps you be great, nobody really questions when the two of you have time for a 13-course tasting menu at 1pm on a tuesday afternoon. and if they did, all satoru would say that you two had a lovely date

I went to a local production of Romeo & Juliet where all the actors pulled their roles out of a hat two minutes before showtime and my favorite joke was the actor who played Juliet wore a trucker hat that said "GIRL" on it until the scene where Romeo and Juliet imply they've consummated their marriage, when he dramatically threw it to the side and pulled out another hat that said "WOMAN" on it

so, does anyone else feel sick about the fact that, in the books, Rimmer spends as much of his free time as possible in stasis (he literally spends a year's worth of time in stasis, over the course of five years), and that, officially, stasis booths are only ever used for penal reasons? does anyone else feel sick about the implications that Rimmer has been voluntarily punishing himself for five years straight?
