click for my opinions & and yapping on these fictional people
also dont take it too seriously if i say mean stuff i have no filter
i dont have much to say about milo but i think he's a precious bean and i do like people good with animals
i love nessa. i love her design i love thats she's both a gym leader and a model and i love her very sapphic interactions with sonia (lesbians support lesbians)
i dont hate kabu. im just like skeptical because god am i tired of boomers yelling about things all the time. but like i respect the grind. also his gym battle can be annoying with will o wisp if youre not prepared
Ive never explicitly hated bea as a person but i think i found her gym the most annoying, im not a huge fan of stow on side as much as other towns, fighting is one of my least favorite types, and the first time i played the game i lost to her and quit the game for like 6 months (like a coward) also correct me if im wrong but she doesnt have a ton going on? like she really doesnt have any fun character interactions or interesting things about her other than being a fighter
tbh im lowkey afraid to say anything bad about opal. she kind of scares me. it feels like she's gonna cast a spell on me and turn me into a cat.
ok so like 6 months ago id say bede but uh ao3 magic happened and i no longer hate him. haha
gordie is definitely my least favorite of them all. first of all i bought sword intially and was thus robbed of being able to fight melony in the snowy town. Second his gym puzzle is annoying. he looks straight [derogatory] like some kind generic whiteguy youtuber who did something offensive and had to make an apology video for it. all of this is definitely true and canon and i'm not projecting at all shut up. Probably one of my least favorite characters in this game other than HIM.
im a lesbian. of course i like melony. ok well other than the obvious parts i like ice types alot (2nd favorite type) and circhester is my favorite city and i love how her gym looks there.
i love piers in part because i love his dynamic with marnie and how he's an amazing brother but the funnier reason is his japanese name translates to 'rat' and thus i lovingly confer the name of rat man. I like his comically bad posture (you can feel the lower back pain from here) and i like how fun he is at the climax/ postgame arcs
i dont have a lot to say about marnie but i think she's cute and also a precious bean. her morpeko is annoying tho. once it flinched me 3 turns in a row
i love raihan and how freakishly tall he is. I love seeing him with his boyfriend(s). i love thinking of him as a chaos gremlin(positive)
Whether it's bc you hated their battle, don't find them particularly interesting or memorable, don't care for their design, or just overall don't like their character

scribbled down a relationship chart for the forgotten valley bros to collect my thoughts after snooping into their dialogue files, because i’m crazy over the barebones scraps of tiny interactions between them that we are given they’re a neat group of lads and i want to see them in lots of wacky situations together
rambling explanation and screenshots under the cut. spoilers for dialogue
gordy and gustafa are bffs and i love them!!!!!
they have mutual respect for each other… gustafa clearly admires and understands gordy’s art, and gordy seems to view gustafa as his closest confidant, he even gets you and Gustafa the new kitchen if you enter chapter 2 without being able to “afford” it yourself
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they only really mention each other and don’t have anything to say about the other two boys
no one has anything bad to say about gustafa, which is exactly how it should be. blessed bard. it’s extra sweet to me that he’s the most well-liked bachelor both in and out of the game given one of the npc gossip lines your son can tell you— he grew up without many friends (in the original game the secret was that he was bullied). he deserves all the happiness in the world
Tumblr media Tumblr media
matt opinions
matt shares his Opinions (slander) on gordy and rock specifically if you show him your kid with them, but has no slander for gustafa… his line for gustafa is instead just copied from what he says about the bachelorettes’ kids. so i count that as a gustafa win
Tumblr media
i had to stretch to find any mention of gustafa by matt, the closest thing is that he comments that he doesn’t usually go to the starlight concert
Tumblr media
i want gustafa and matt to interact!!! i want gustafa to give matt a tomato when he’s being gruff like he did with nami (matt: “th-thank you…..*blush* i already have ten billion of these”) matt also has lines about farm work being easier when you’ve got music accompanying you if you show him a record so i’ll count that as a very flimsy positive connection (matt IS friendly with gavin, due to frequenting the bluebird café, but is a bit reticent to make friends on his own)
rock opinions and social diseases
rock is extremely excited about hearing gustafa play music and calls him a wizard at the guitar and says he never gets tired of hearing him play. he also likes wandering over to gustafa’s yurt and listening to his music along with tei on market days (his most normal bachelor to bachelor interaction)
Tumblr media
the only guy who gets no positive comment from rock is matt, instead rock goes to town roasting him in his fourth heart event out of envy for a completely imaginary situation and argues that he’s worth a hundred matthew’s (source?). he also likes to go into the already crowded farmhouse at night on market days and make it even more cramped, but he usually leaves right before matt gets home
finally rock has what i can only describe as a really odd one-sided crush on gordy!! he meanders into gordy’s trailer at 12:45 AM (AM) every market day and loudly, obliviously asks why there’s so much “trash” everywhere (you’re the trash, rock!!!!!!). thankfully rock is quite literally beneath gordy’s notice, however this seems to make rock sad and he tries to come up with wacky stunts to get gordy’s attention like drawing on gordy’s face and… holding his breath? (maybe, i dunno WHERE that dialogue triggers). he has a line celebrating gordy finally noticing him, i’m not sure what causes it though (for his part, gordy has no lines referencing rock)
Tumblr media
finally, if you show rock your kid he will tease them by bragging that he was waaaay cuter at their age… but ONLY if it’s a bachelor’s child. rock your complex is so obvious that it’s more of a simple
Tumblr media
in summary,
rock seems to think highly of each of the guys (except matt), unfortunately this manifests in him making really odd attempts to barge into their houses at strange hours and by trying to assert dominance in annoying ways. thankfully no one really notices anything he does (except matt)
matt doesn’t generally say nice things about anyone except cecilia (which makes the nice things he says, like about nina, more meaningful…) so unsurprisingly he has nothing nice to say about any of the guys, but he doesn’t have anything negative to say about gustafa. however he seems to want friends to do stuff with (he complains about how no one in the valley wants to go swimming…..hhhgg i am desperate to force rock and matt to spend time together. a friendship where you can’t stand each other but you’re the only two people who enjoy doing the same hobby so you put your differences aside and splash around in the water) like with rock no one really seems aware of matt’s existence except rock who is Extrwmely Aware to the point of knowing about matt’s crush on ceci, but unlike rock matt is not exactly jumping at the chance to go socialize with others
gustafa and gordy are friends with each other (and also both are friends with nami) and they support each others ambitions. i have no source but i’m confident that when gustafa visits gordy he’s also bringing him water and soup (he also visits daryl so i think it’s cool and fun if gustafa drops in on the local lost-in-thought creative hermits with hydration reminders and care packages)

Hello!! can I req Raihan x Female Reader where reader is a Ice/Grass specialist and has a Glaceon and Leafeon who protects her because she gets picked on a lot Maybe some angst to fluff Thank you already!❤️
Sure thing.
Tumblr media
Lonely Without Friendship
Raihan x F! Reader Angst/Fluff
Growing up you were always bullied. You didn't do anything to cause the bullying. It's just that kids are mean. You didn't have any friends because of this, so your parents ended up giving you a Glaceon and a Leafeon to help and protect you. They were your only friends throughout all of your school years. That was until you moved to Galar to continue studying.
So far your only friends were Hop, Milo, Marnie, Gloria (Fairy Gym Leader), Nessa, Melony, Sonia, and Bea. Your two Eeveelutions didn't like men all that much since boys were the main bullies from your younger years. Hop and Milo were the exceptions since Leafeon and Glaceon could tell that they had good intentions and wouldn't hurt you in any way. There were some people in Galar who would bully you and they would either wake up to a yard full of leaves or a yard full of ice that was covered in snow.
Raihan wanted to befriend you, but your two friends wouldn't allow it to happen. You would always have to put them into their Great Balls in order to talk to him. You couldn't blame them because Raihan is an intimidating-looking man. Towering over you and his fangs were a little scary at first. Leafeon would give him cuts by using razor leaf and Glaceon would purposely make the surrounding area cold by using snowy terrain.
It has been two years since you came to Galar and your two partners have eased up a little bit. They now like Kabu, Leon, Bede, Gordie, and Piers. Raihan was close to giving up on becoming friends with you entirely because he still isn't liked or even remotely close to being liked. That was until he was sitting with you on your bed while you were crying. You were crying because your boyfriend of three years broke up with you over text. Leafeon and Glaceon were laying their heads on your lap trying to comfort you. You were leaning your head against Raihans chest in a way that he couldn't see your tear-stained face.
"Y/N, I am going, to be honest with you and you may not like what I am about to say."
You sniffle and hiccup before responding
"What is it, Rai?"
"Your boyfriend was a complete jerk. He didn't deserve you."
You remove your head from his chest and look up at him.
"What do you mean?"
"What I mean is that you deserve someone who will treat you like you are the queen of the world."
You giggle a little bit before sniffing again
"I am no queen, Raihan. You know that."
He gently takes your hands in one of his and puts his other hand on your cheek.
"You are a queen, Y/N. You may not see it. But you are a queen to your Leafeon and Glaceon."
The two PokĂŠmon nuzzle against you making happy purring noises agreeing with Raihan.
"And if I am being honest. You are my queen. I would do anything to see you smile. I will embarrass myself in order to make you laugh."
After telling you that he kisses the top of your head and you smile.
"Thank you, Raihan. I appreciate that. I really do."
"You are very welcome. Now, why don't you lay down with Leafeon and Glaceon and take a nap because I bet you feel tired after letting out all those emotions."
You nod and lay down. Glaceon and Leafeon lay down by your feet. Raihan gets off the bed and heads towards the door until you grab his hand.
"Could you cuddle with me, Raihan? Please?"
He looks at you and then at the two PokĂŠmon for their responses. They nod their heads, yes and he lays down next to you putting your head on his chest. You and Raihan smile knowing that Leafeon and Glaceon finally accept that he would never hurt you. Ever.

or
The interrogations start with Chuck and Roger.
“So you’re just leaving it at that?” Chuck balks.
Wedged between his two friends on their couch, Don can only shrug. Recounting everything has worn him out and he’s tempted to cancel the rest of the evening.
“Don,” Roger runs his forehead. “Bobby’s been hurt. He’s not meaning to take it out on you. In fact, I think he’s desperately in love with you.”
“Right,” Don mumbles. “That’s why he ended things.”
Chuck and Roger share an exasperated breath. Their stares bore into Don but he doesn’t care. He nurses his beer, replays several nights over and over in his head.
The truth is, he cares so much it’s consuming him. Bobby doesn’t let things slip out. As extroverted as he is, he’s a closed book. Careful with his words when need be. When Bobby’s not his usual ball of energy, everyone knows it’s because something is eating away at him. Whether it’s a certain play, a bad drill, or maybe even falling in love.
Don strikes the last one from his mind.
“I don’t know, man. I think you should talk to him. Talk talk. No more pussyfooting around this,” Chuck is stern, almost terrifyingly so.
“Why?” Don frowns, picks at the label on the bottle he’s drinking out of.
“Why not? You can’t keep burrowing into yourself when Bobby is too much.”
“He’s not too much,” Don speaks without thinking.
Roger raises a brow and Chuck seems to be holding his breath.
With a frown, Don sinks into the couch. Bobby’s expression from their last night is still etched in his mind. But when he remembers it, all he sees is pain, a fading hope turning to grief. And he was the one who caused it all.
It’s too late to make amends now. He had chances time and time again to convince Bobby they were worth fighting for. Instead, he fled and left Bobby to deal with the destruction on his own.
He’s inconsolable for the rest of the night. When Chuck and Roger finally drop him off at home, Don nearly throws his phone into the toilet just to get his friends to stop contacting him. He can’t take all this compassion when he doesn’t deserve it
A day later, he’s cornered by Gordy and Johnny in the laundry room. Don’s sure he’s a lost cause, that he might as well be traded at this point.
“So, you and Bobby, huh?” Johnny ventures.
“It’s not like that,” Don tries to hide his agitation.
Johnny and Gordy raise their brows and Don slams his jersey into the washing machine.
“Okay, out with it.”
“Something’s changed,” Gordy shrugs. “The team feels off. You and Bobby feel…off.”
Don wants to laugh. Somehow, he and Bobby could keep their hormones off the ice, but just a little bit of heartache and Don’s letting himself slip. Then, there’s that glimmer of hope. If Bobby isn’t his best, maybe, just maybe, he still has a chance.
“I’m sure it’s just semi-final nerves,” Don mumbles.
“You’re kidding,” Gordy sighs. “Hume, we don’t want to push anything, but we’ll lock you and Bobby in the office until you hash it out if we have to.”
Both Johnny and Don stare at Gordy like he’s grown two heads.
“We?” Johnny says, as if he’s the one getting in trouble.
“Guys,” Don waves. “It’ll sort itself out. I’m sure.”
Gordy rolls his eyes, sighs in exasperation. “Uh huh, you keep telling yourself that.”
Any rebuttal gets caught in Don’s throat and he can barely return Johnny’s sympathetic smile. The guys make it seem all so easy. They aren’t the ones caught up in a relationship that goes beyond the definition of complicated.
Except, it never was a relationship. Don reminds himself of that. Sure, he and Bobby spent every moment together before all this. They had planned dinners, days just hanging out at each other’s apartments. Amazing sex Don never imagined possible.
Then Bobby revealed himself and Don ran. He’s supposed to be better than this, but hiding is so much easier. Living in the past doesn’t hurt.
This isn’t right though. There is a Bobby-shaped gap in Don’s life and he doesn’t know how to fix it.
Don wants to cry when Jim and Shorty approach him later.
“Why do you guys come in pairs?” Don knocks his forehead against the wall.
“Moral support,” Shorty replies. “Which you need too.”
“I’m fine,” Don sighs, sinking to the closest bench.
“Bobby said that the same way,” Jim muses.
Don furrows his brows, looks at his friends for clarification.
“Not getting involved, we all agreed,” Shorty holds up his hands, “but you really gotta do something about Bobby.”
“Why me?”
“Because you’re the problem,” Jim says not so eloquently. “Okay, not problem, but…”
“It’s clear Bobby needs to see you,” Shorty tries to help. “You should see the look in his eyes whenever we mention you.”
Don wonders if it’s longing or regret that shines in Bobby’s stare.
“Yeah, it’s probably disgust, he attempts a self-deprecating joke.
“He’s hopeless,” Jim throws up his hands dramatically. “They both are!”
Shorty’s fuming silence is palpable and Don pulls up the collar of his shirt to chew on it. The habit offers little comfort as Shorty glares daggers at him.
“Alright, maybe this is what you deserve then,” Shorty bites. “Maybe you don’t get that chance to see what you two could really be.”
With that, Shorty storms off, leaving Jim and Don in an awkward stare down.
“Don,” Jim’s voice is soft. “if all of us coming here doesn’t convince you that maybe Bobby wants to try…,” he shakes his head. “Do what you want. We’ll still be your friends at the end of the day.”
Don feels like throwing up. Here he is getting good, sound advice, but he can’t take any of it to heart. The what-ifs claw at his chest, stealing his words, clouding his thoughts.
They’re dancing around the obvious, letting their own minds get the best of them. If Bobby is ready to listen, he should speak up first.
Don reprimands himself for this thought. He shouldn’t be so cruel.
For once, there are cracks in Bobby’s shell. Maybe he can be the one to push through them. To show Bobby what kind of love he deserves.
When Joe shows up at his apartment, Don knows what comes next.
“What’s holding you back?” Joe cuts to the chase.
“I don’t know,” Don admits. “Everything. We’re a mess, Joe. Maybe it’s better if we stay apart.”
Don isn’t sure if he believes his own words. The silence is too loud and he bites a fingernail as he waits for Joe to say something.
“Some days it felt like you and him were more serious than I am with Joyce,” Joe starts. “And I love that girl to death.”
He’s staring at Don, waits for their eyes to meet before continuing on. “Do you want to try?”
“Of course I do,” Don says softly. “Hell, I’d follow him to the ends of the earth.”
“So, do that then. Stop waiting for him to make the first move. Bobby’s as lovesick as they come, he’s not going to turn you away. Not if you keep trying.”
Joe is so confident in his words and Don’s immediate reaction is to fight back. He’s wrong. They’re all wrong.
“Go,” Joe stands up and grabs Don’s arm to take him with. “Talk to him now.”
Don flounders for an excuse, but his keys get shoved in his hand, and Joe pushes him out of the apartment.
“Swear to god, Don, if you don’t do this, I’m never talking to you again.”
It’s an empty threat but Don is terrified all the same. He locks his door, follows Joe out to the parking lot.
“Joe?” He calls out just before he reaches his car.
Joe looks back, eyebrows raised.
“Thanks.”
With just a smile and a wave, Joe disappears. Don wishes he could take Joe with him, but his advice, all the team’s advice, is enough to build his courage.
He doesn’t even give it any thought when he pulls up to Bobby’s complex, slips in past the main entrance that miraculously sits open, and knocks on Bobby’s door.
Then, all his emotions flood into him. He’s going to fuck this up. Something is sure to go wrong. Bobby is taking too long to answer and Don knocks again.
Don breathes a sigh of relief when the door cracks and then flies open.
“Don? What are you doing here?” Bobby’s eyes are red almost as if he’s been crying.
Holding himself from reaching out, Don fidgets with his sleeve. “Can we talk?”
“Now?”
Don nods, his breaths dragging out. As if Bobby’s very presence is stealing the air from his lungs. When the door opens all the way, Don barges in, heads towards the couch and sits down.
“What are we talking about?” Bobby takes a seat next to Don.
There’s a full cushion between them and Don tries not to think about it. “Us.”
“Don…,” Bobby starts, but Don can’t let this opportunity slip through his fingers.
“I love you.”
Bobby goes quiet, eyes wide and distrusting. He opens his mouth and Don shoots ahead yet again.
“I know we said no strings attached, that we weren’t supposed to get feelings, but we did. At least…I know I love you.” Don collects himself, wills back the tears. “I shouldn’t have left you alone. All those times, I should've stayed by your side instead of running. I was being selfish and, shit, maybe I’m still being a prick now.”
No longer does Don need forgiveness. He just wants Bobby to be okay, whatever it takes.
“All I know is, I don’t want to imagine a day without you. If you really don’t feel the same, if you really don’t want this, fine. But I had to tell you the truth. I want to give us a try.”
Bobby’s stare is watery, his bottom lip trembles and Don can’t tell if Bobby wants to scream or punch him. Or both.
“Don,” Bobby’s voice shakes. “You don’t know what you’re saying.”
“Like hell I don’t!” Don grabs Bobby’s arms, sure he’s going to leave permanent marks. “My entire life all I thought I needed was hockey. And then you came along. Turned me on my head. I mean, fuck, have you ever heard me talk this much before?”
A choked sob tears itself from Bobby’s throat and all he does is shake his head.
“Bobby,” Don releases his grip so he can wipe away the tears. “Talk to me.”
Bobby swallows, a small breath leaving him. “Someone like me doesn’t get to have a happy ending.”
It’s sharp, despondent, so unlike Bobby that it starts to scare Don.
“You do though,” Don murmurs, searching deep into Bobby’s eyes.
“No, Don,” Bobby nearly exclaims. “Look at us. Look at our lives. Even without the camming, my fuck-ups, I’m screwed. I’m…I’m no good.”
Don’s heart breaks and he catches the tears that fall down Bobby’s face. “Why do you keep believing that?”
“It’s the truth.” Bobby’s voice wobbles as he gives a small shrug.
“Bobby,” Don lets out a gentle sigh.
He doesn’t know what to say, what Bobby needs to hear. If he could tear down every person who shattered Bobby’s spirit, he’d go out and do it in an instant.
Even if it means punishing himself.
However, Bobby’s fading light, his crushed soul, asks Don to take a kinder path. With a swallow, Don finds his voice again.
“You’re the best goddamn goalie the leagues have seen. You push not only me, but everyone on the team to do their best. You…,” Don pauses, takes in the watery eyes that stare back at him.
“If you want me to leave, I will,” Don breathes. “I won’t regret a single moment…but I’ll miss you like hell.”
Bobby’s entire body shakes as sobs wrack through him and Don can only keep holding on tight. One hand cards through Bobby’s hair while the other clutches onto his back. Don worries if he lets go, Bobby will crumble into pieces.
Bobby buries his face into Don’s chest then, his words muffled and yet so clear.
“Don’t. Don’t leave me.”
Without a second thought, Don pulls Bobby into a kiss. It’s wet, it’s messy, and it’s the most wonderful sensation Don has felt in a month. Bobby gasps into Don’s mouth around a small cry, his hands scrambling to grab hold of Don.
Their kiss doesn’t end, not really. Even as they come up for air, Don and Bobby linger in each other, their lips brushing, cheeks grazing.
Bobby grips onto Don for dear life, whispering affection and love to him in between his crying hiccups. It takes all of Don’s will to not crush Bobby in his embrace, to hold tight and never let go. He trails kisses along Bobby’s head, rubs his back until Bobby can finally take a breath.
“God, sorry,” Bobby sits back to wipe his face with his sleeve. “You’ve made me a mess.”
“Okay.”
Bobby lets out a bright laugh and Don soaks it in. It’s good to see Bobby coming back to himself, a picture of perfection.
“I really fucked things up, didn’t I?” Bobby sighs. “No one’s ever treated me like you have, Don. It’s…I’m not used to it.”
Don purses his lips, takes both of Bobby’s hands into his own. “I fucked things up, Bobby. I want to be better. I want to treat you right.”
“Oh, baby, you have,” Bobby squeezes his hands. “This past year, I couldn’t have asked for anything better.”
A blush creeps onto Don’s face and he ducks his head with a small smile. Bobby reaches up, gently tugs at Don’s chin so their eyes can meet.
“I love you, Don Hume.”
Everything is perfect and Don drags Bobby into another passionate kiss. He can’t believe his luck and he pushes deeper into the embrace, to prove to Bobby he’s worth every ounce of love Don has for him.
Bobby’s mouth opens, granting him access, and Don slips his tongue in, easily falling into Bobby’s rhythm. Don thinks for a moment they should take it slower, but all of that goes out the window when Bobby moans into the kiss.
They break apart, breathless and warm, staring deep into each other’s eyes. Bobby’s fingers dance along his neck and Don toys with the hem of Bobby’s shirt.
“I want to take you here. Properly,” Bobby says. “No camera, no fake whatever. Just you and me.”
The world clicks into place and Don nods, stripping Bobby of his shirt before getting rid of his own. Their movements are slow, hands running over chests, along toned muscles. Almost as if they’re seeing each other for the first time.
Bobby bites his lip when Don swipes a thumb across his nipple, something feral flashing in his eyes. Interest piqued, Don leans in, sucks, and Bobby melts into the touch. He climbs into Don’s lap, grinds their growing erections together as Don continues to play with his nipples. He rolls the other one between his thumb and forefinger, bringing both to stiff nubs. Curious, Don pinches and Bobby cries out.
“Shit…shit, baby, if you do that again I won’t last long,” he pushes Don just far enough away.
Don grins, gives Bobby’s nipple a small bite before pulling off. Bobby’s face is flushed, his mouth open and gasping. No work of art can compare to this. Don thinks he’s starting to understand why artists struggle. Bobby’s shining eyes, the quirk of his mouth can’t be committed to a canvas.
Bobby works at Don’s jeans, all but tears them off with his briefs while he moves in between Don’s legs. With little preamble, he licks long stripes up Don’s cock and his fingers trace from his balls to his hole. Don keens, grabs onto whatever of the couch he can just to not choke Bobby with his cock.
Breaking away for just a moment, Bobby grabs a bottle of lube from out of nowhere and resumes sucking Don’s cock down. Don shudders as Bobby takes all of his length, his throat constricting before he pulls back to kiss at the tip.
“Bobby,” Don groans, reaching out for him.
“Yeah, baby?” Bobby grins against his leg.
Don pauses, captivated by Bobby’s handsome face. He’s determined to never be the reason Bobby hurts again. He’ll make sure Bobby always has someone to weather the storm with him.
Bobby kisses Don’s inner thigh, his gaze filled with pure adoration while Don stares. He guides Don’s hands to his hair, makes him curl his fingers as he deepthroats Don again. A lubed finger presses at Don’s hole and he tries to relax. He doesn’t know what he wants more, to come down Bobby’s throat or to have Bobby fuck him until he can’t think straight.
“I might not—,” Don gasps, “Bobby, pull off I’m going to come.”
Bobby doesn’t. He keeps bobbing his head on Don’s dick, his finger pushing into Don. It’s overwhelming and delicious and Don can’t stop. He comes in Bobby’s mouth, his own moan loud in his ears.
He expects Bobby to move away, but he drinks down all of Don’s come, smiles around his dick.
“Fuck, you’re horrible,” Don sighs.
With a pop, Bobby pulls off Don. “But you love it.”
“Course I do.”
Bobby sits up, slides forward to sit between Don’s legs. Between his breaths, Don simply stares at Bobby. God, he’s so far gone. He can’t see any flaw in Bobby, the past pain nothing more than a memory. He has all he wants. All he’s ever needed is right in front of him.
“Hey, where’s your head at?” Bobby teases.
Don gives him a lazy smile, shrugs, which gets him an amused scoff in return.
“I’ll get it out of you.”
Bobby’s grin is wicked and Don bucks when Bobby prods at his hole again. Relaxing is far from his mind. He just wants Bobby in him now, wishes he could take him without all this prep.
“Shh, I’ll make it good for you, baby,” Bobby rubs Don’s thigh.
Don nods, closes his eyes and sinks into the couch. He chews on his bottom lip as one finger pushes in, Bobby taking his sweet time. Of course Don appreciates it, but he’s almost shaking from anticipation.
He gasps, bites his knuckle as Bobby scissors him open. Bobby’s other hand continues to massage his leg, runs up along his side. Don shivers and he takes Bobby’s hand in his own when it trails across his chest.
Bobby kisses him then and Don has never felt more loved. Even when the kiss ends, Bobby keeps pecking at his lips until Don forgets about what they were doing in the first place.
Then, Bobby stretches him with three fingers, curls them so the pads drag inside. Don moans, his grip on Bobby’s hand turning white as Bobby keeps rubbing at his prostate.
“Bobby, please,” he chokes out.
“I’ve got you, Don,” Bobby murmurs against his neck, leaving a kiss before pulling back.
Don hates the feeling of being empty. His mind teases him with the idea of sitting on Bobby’s cock all day and he can’t imagine anything better.
When Bobby pushes into him, Don’s hands scramble to grip onto his shoulders, to pull Bobby ever closer.
“Fuck, Don, you feel so good,” Bobby moans, holding onto Don’s hips. “So tight, so hot.”
Don keens at the praise, wraps his legs around Bobby. “You can go faster.”
Bobby’s stare turns fiery, passionate, and he pulls out his dick slowly only to slam it back into Don. It’s on the edge of painful and Don indulges in the sharp thrusts. He wants Bobby to break him and build him back up again.
“Don,” Bobby leans over him, bringing their faces so close, Don can feel their souls bleeding together.
“Bobby,” Don breathes.
The glass shatters and Don is caught in engulfing pleasure. Bobby moans, hot and heavy into his ear, while his cock drives home. There is no other thought in Don’s mind beyond Bobby, Bobby, Bobby.
Don comes silently, holding Bobby against him as he rides out his waves. Even with his oversensitivity, he urges Bobby forward. He loves this, Bobby using him as he pleases to reach his own orgasm.
Don clenches down and that sends Bobby over the edge. He comes with a choked moan, wrapping his arms around Don in a crushing hug.
Bobby shudders as he comes back to himself and Don takes the opportunity to run his hand through Bobby’s hair. When Bobby lifts his head, his eyes are shining with tears but Don knows it isn’t out of sadness.
Taking Bobby’s face in his hands, he tugs him forward, kisses both his cheeks before bringing their lips together in a small, gentle embrace.
When the kiss ends, the two men take to staring at each other, letting fingers trail along skin, memorizing the feeling of just being.
“Damn, who would’ve thought?” Bobby smiles.
Don tilts his head. He has a thought of what Bobby will say next, but still asks with his eyes.
“That I would land the hottest guy on the team.”
A laugh bubbles out of Don and he gives Bobby a playful smack as he laughs as well. They untangle themselves and Bobby drags them to the bathroom to get properly cleaned up.
The shower is warm, but it doesn’t come close to holding Bobby in his arms. Don doesn’t dare look away. A second without Bobby is much too long. He kisses along Bobby’s temple, carefully cleans his skin while leaving little marks behind. This is where he’s meant to be.
When Bobby motions for Don to lean down so he can scrub his hair for him, Don can only oblige with a smile.
It’s time for a new start and Don can’t wait to see where Bobby will take him next.

happy wincest wednesday z! <3 I'm sending this around a few boxes today. What movie that you've seen would you like to see sam and dean in, and how much do you have to mangle them to get them in there? are they having a good time? how MUCH kissing is involved
hallo bud hallo, and a happy day of wincest wednes to you as well <3
I'm sure this answer is not original but I'm gonna go with Stand By Me, because the languid summer nostalgia is a+ 100% perf for a weecest feel, and also because I feel like you don't have to mangle Sam and Dean hardly at all to get them directly into that plot and vibe. That said you have to squish around the other characters.
Dean obviously is Chris, Sam obviously is Gordie. (There's a sadder version where you let Dean be the dearly departed Denny, but that would just be a miserable John's A+ Parenting fic and not proper wincest. So screw that.) You squash them together so they're brothers instead of besties-who-might-as-well-be-brothers, and you probably do away with Teddy and Vern except as peripheral characters -- maybe Sam's kinda-friends from school, except he'll never really be close to them because of how the Winchesters are (and always will be). Dean should probably be hanging out more with Ace & Billy et al, but of course he is who he always would be and genuinely prefers hanging with his little bro -- so, there's the tension, the Winchester freaks who get it from the high school kids and the junior high kids, both.
The plot's a piece of piss -- there's a dead body, they go investigate -- but maybe John's drunk at home on a bender and the boys decide they need to see if it was Foul Play Via Ghost on their own (but mainly they have to get away from home because of all that's there), because the point of Stand By Me (like the point of the stories I love best) is not the plot, it's the atmosphere and the character and the relationship and the vibe, and goddd does the vibe fit. I said that above but it bears repeating. Woods-camping on a little adventure with your friends, but the adventure is just a means by which to escape the oppressive reality that's waiting as soon as you stop pretending. (See also: every single episode where the boys take a hunt to 'take their minds of things'.)
Do they have a good time? Umm yes. Especially when Dean gets to beat the shit out of Kiefer Sutherland. Do they kiss? Let's say yes, too, but in a dumb overwrought kid way that has Dean clumsily not knowing what to do with it but trying to be kind, and the long walk back is strange, but (much like a certain recent race through the woods) they'll get through it, because that's who they are, and always will be. We can even patch in the drift-apart from the movie into how Sam decides to go to college and leaves Dean behind. To finish, a cribbed quote --
I never had a brother like the brother I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

A Champion Time For The Heart Ch38 Pasio Adventures
(Sorry for the late update. Irl has been up and down lately. Also real question here, would anyone be interested in a Gordie x reader after this book is done?)
Tumblr media
Leon paused and he slowly looked up to Hop. "It's okaying my transfer to where?"
His response was to turn the paper around with the official seal and the fancy writing and held it up to his blinking face. "It's okaying our temporary transfer to the Pasio Region! We've been chosen to compete in the Masters League!" A bright smile was beaming on his face and his eyes were starry like, "Well...actually only you've been chosen. And Glory and Vic. BUT ISN'T THIS AMAZING!? WE'RE GOING TO PASIO!!"
His big brother didn't answer at first instead taking the letter from Hop and immediately opened it, breaking the seal and opening the folded paper to let golden eyes dance across the words plastered across it. It was thick too. The reason why was because there was already a passport, cruise ticket, and everything else he needed to take a trip overseas along with the very long and very detailed explanation from the Chairwoman in the letter for the Masters League and that he'd be going to Pasio for-....
"A whole year!?"
Hop perked up hearing Leon's voice and found his big brother staring at the paper wide eyed in disbelief. "Wha- No. Just ten months but almost a year! And we're leaving at the end of this month! Isn't it exciting, Lee?"....He blinked as Leon still stared at the letter in his hands. "Lee? Are you alright?"
Leon finally blinked to him before opening his mouth, closing his mouth, and then looking back to the letter. "I-...Y-Yeah..I'm good." He beamed a smile at him again. "This is great news, Hop! C'mon. H-Help me hang up these tinsels then we can set up the Christmas tree."
He distracted himself by setting up the Christmas decorations and having dinner with his family before taking time out to actually look at everything he was sent. The Prince had found his battling exceptional and thus had picked him along with a few other Gym Leaders, Gloria and Victor included, to come compete in the Masters League. He wasn't the only one who received this, as Hop and Sonia had also gotten one. They'd been allowed to come to Pasio to study the region and meet with different professors. Sonia saw this as an opportunity to get different fur samples from other regions pokemon while Hop was excited to be able to have another adventure. He'd be lying if he said that he wasn't excited to go, but for ten long months!? That'd be ten long months he'd spend away from his friends (the ones who weren't going-), his family (minus Hop-), and Galar!! But most importantly...Y/n. She hadn't gotten a letter. She was actually surprised when she showed up to visit for dinner that night and she hadn't gotten one. Of course Y/n wouldn't have one. She wasn't a professor or part of the league in anyway so she couldn't go unless you wanted to spend a whole lot of money on a cruise ticket to Pasio or got an official transfer from the Chairwoman like he did. That..made his heart sink which was a funny feeling to say about someone who you only went on one date with under not the best circumstances and it felt more like a hang out than date, not only that but she hadn't brought up that date again since that day so neither did he to avoid bringing awkward memories up. But...The thought of her bright F/c eyes lighting up or the way she'd smile at him still made his face light up in a very obvious way and now everyone knew because more than once he caught the trio of teens looking at him in a way or his grandpa would always telling him to make a move and settle down with this one. Sigh. Well...it's not like there was anything he could do about it..There wasn't anyway he'd be able to get Y/n to come along since there wasn't a position open fo-
....!?
Leon shot up so fast from his sheets that his pillow was knocked from his bed, a beaming smile spread from ear to ear. "THAT'S IT!!"
Which is how you ended up staring blankly at Leon at your job behind the counter, the Champion staring at you covered in new fallen snow from the December weather outside being so close to Christmas. You stared at his heavily breathing, absolutely beaming form, as he had just finished rapid fire talked his plan to you and blinked as a few snowflakes fell off his coat and onto the once clean floor now covered in slush and dirt...And then you blinked.
"Could you repeat that? But like in very, very slow motion?"
"I want you to go to Pasio with me!," he excitedly exclaimed. You opened your mouth and he quickly held up his hands. "Look! I know you said you don't want to travel around for a while but this would be a great experience for everyone and I had this great idea. I w-wanted to respect your boundaries too."
Your face went red for a solid second as well before you smiled, "Aw. Leon that's really sweet of you to say but-"
"I know you didn't get a pass, but I figured that part out!"
"Yes but-"
"You know Allister right? He needs a caretaker while we're in Pasio, and we're all going to be too busy anyways, but you'd be perfect for the job!"
"But Leon-"
"I know..I know you probably wouldn't want the responsibility of an extra person but I promise this would be such a great idea!"
"LEON!!," you practically shouted making him blink at your frown. "I hear everything you're telling me."
He blinked before smiling wider than before. "Wait. REALLY!?"
You nodded. "But I've been trying to tell you something."
"What?"
"You're wearing you're coat backwards."
Leon blinked before looking down at himself and noticing he could see his coat's hood where the zipper usual would be. "....Oh. Ahehe. M-My bad." You sighed before chuckled as he sheepishly began removing his coat. "Um...Y-Yeah..So-..Is that a yes you're coming?"
That made you pause and the realization of what he was asking hit you. If you did go, you'd have to take a break from your job (again-) and travel more (again-) and he wanted you to keep an eye on someone (again-) which honestly when all put together didn't sound that appealing to you. You already had traveled everywhere across Galar multiple times, had watched over the guys multiple times, and had already taken a break from your job a few times. You had just gotten back and settled back in just a few weeks ago and from what Leon said, it'd be a while until everyone came back.
"I don't know about that, Lee," you confessed and his smile fell a bit, "It does sound like a good idea but isn't there other people more qualified than I am?"
''You're one of the few people I've seen Allister respond too so positively!," Leon assured you, "And it's not like you wouldn't be paid, because you absolutely would! I'd make sure you'd be paid and have everything you need while we're there! A-And this way I could hang out with you more." You blinked surprised as he hesitantly reached across the counter and when you didn't pull away, gingerly grabbed your hand which made your face turn a bright pink when he beamed brighter than you ever had someone smile at you. "I-I don't want to wait almost an entire year just to get to know you better. I-I want to spend more time with the only person who's made me feel this way." You stood there shocked, jaw dropped and eyes going wide- "Y-You're like-...T-The only person I've met that's hasn't taken the chance to get close to Hop or Gloria o-or a-anyone else just to get close to me o-or to get anything out of me. T-That was one of the biggest thing's I-I was worried about when I first met you to be honest."
Well..You couldn't exactly blame him for that since you two were just strangers then. "Well, of course I wouldn't. Hop's a really nice kid. Who does that anyways!?" You frowned at even the thought of someone trying to take advantage of any of those kids like that. "Besides even if I did, which I didn't, Hop's too smart to let that happen. He would've figured that out from the very beginning. And if we're being honest, you helped me out more even when I didn't ask-"
"That's my point! You never asked for my help. You didn't want to take. You only helped...even when no one asked." Unconsciously he rubbed his thumb gently over the knuckles of the hand he was still holding. "You treat my family like your own. Y-You're really smart a-a-and kind and you're capable of taking care of yourself. And you were honest with me.." Gold eyes looked down. "E-Even when it put you in an awkward position and it would've been easier to just go along with pretending you agreed with what I said and everything else that happened...I can't imagine anyone else having the guts or heart to do that. A-And being honest and trusting is so-something I would really want with someone. I-...I-I want to have that security. N-Not just with me either, but with trusting someone to be around my family and friends and other people I care about the most. I love how understanding and patient you are. With someone with my kind of schedule I could called any time to be gone for days on end but I don't ever think you had a problem with that w-when we were just friends..." he finally looked back to your red face not noticing the three pairs of eyes peeping sneakily through the store window, "I-I know this is a lot to say when we've only really been on one date but I feel like I should make my intentions clearer. Which brings me to the second and third reasons why I'm here. Y/n, would you like to go on another date with me?"
.....You blinked. "W-What?"
"I-I'd l-l-like to go out with you again." he smiled. "There's this river not too fair from here where a whole lot of wild pokemon fish at, Sonia told me about it when she was studying their foraging habits for winter. We could have a nice time and just walk around. Postwick's pretty beautiful in winter. W-What do you say?"
You thought about it for a moment before smiling, "Sure! Why not? I'm free this Saturday."
"Saturday sounds great! I can meet you at the train station! But I still wanted to ask you. Would you like to come over for Christmas? I-I'm sure everyone would love to have you, and your pokemon are more than welcome too."
"I'd love to! But Lee."
"Yes?"
"You're still holding my hand."
Leon blinked before looking down at your hands and then quickly snapped his hand back like you were made of fire, face burning an embarrassed red. You chuckled. Meanwhile three pairs of eyes peered out sneakily through a corner in the window. One pair gold and two pairs light brown before the eyes turned to look at one another.
"S-See?! W-W-What d-did I tell ye!?," a boy's voice whispered shivering in the cold. "I-I TOLD ya L-Lee likes 'er!"
"Vic's right!," the second boy spoke, the one with the golden eyes. "AND he went on a date with her back at the prince's party. Remember? They were dancing and chattin' it up all night."
"THAT'S SO ROMANTIC-"
"Gloria!," both boys shushed her. "Keep yer voice down, ya bellowin' chattot! We nah need 'em to know we're here."
Gloria blinked before chuckling nervously. "Hehe. Sorry guys. But do you see that!?" She happily turned back to the window with a beaming smile. "They were holdin' hands! That's gotta be a sign they like each other! Ooh! Maybe he's askin' her out again!"
"Or maybe not. Lee's kinda clueless when it comes to this stuff," Hop commented with a deadpanned look, "I heard him talking to Sonia all about it. What if he messes this up and just confuses her again?"
"....Then we'll step 'n 'n give 'em a hand!," both boys looked to Gloria with a 'Huh' and she rolled her eyes, "C'mon. Think 'bout it! Who knows them better than us? Lee's our big brother and we've traveled with Y/n enough ta know what she's like."
"Yeah but playin' matchmaker? I dunno Glor."
"Think ya dunderhead! We all like Y/n don't we?"
"Yeah." "Of course."
"Then what's keepin' 'er here really?" That question shocked them into silence making their eyes go wide. That thought hadn't really crossed their minds until now as Gloria paced back and forth, snow crunching under her feet. "Sure she bought a house n' she said she nah wants ta travel for a while, but what if 'n the future she leaves!? When we first met 'er she was already travelin' so what if she decides she's goin' ta travel again? There's really nothin' keepin' her here and it's not like we can make 'er! Even if we ask her ta stay she can still decide she wants ta leave! And what if she wants ta go back ta Kalos?!" Her hands cupped her face in worry. "We'd never see her again! Which would be awful! She's the closes thing ta a big sister I eva' had! I don't wanna lose that!"
"Neither do I!," Hop added looking to Victor, "I've never seen Lee so happy! And Y/n's the perfect girl for her!"
Victor hummed. "...I agree she's pretty responsible and level headed. If she can help keep 'n eye on Gloria then she might help Lee become less lost. Which would be a good thing since he can end up n' a bunch o' weird places."
Gloria shot her twin a look. "Plus she's pretty tough!" She raised a fist. "Ya scene how she took on Mr. Rose n' those hair punks! Lee n' her would be the literally power couple!"
"But wouldn't it be wrong to try and force someone into a relationship?"
"Hop, we won't be forcin' them inta anything. Ye said they've already been on a date before. All they need 's a lil nudge to get the romance ta ye surface! Besides if they get together, then Y/n would stay cuz Lee's here! Think 'bout how awesome it'd be ta have a sister like her in the family!"
Hop gasped starry eyed. "I could get a big sister! *GASP!* What if they get married and have kids!?" His arms were thrown up. "I COULD BE AN UNCLE!!"
"'Fore ye two lose your heads," Both looked over as Victor pointed at them, "May I remind you that they haven't even had a second date? We shouldn't count our torchics 'fore they hatch."
"Vic's right. After all, first comes love then marriage then all the wee babies in the carriages!!"
Victor groaned-...Or he would've if the shop bell hadn't rang out and the three froze as Leon excited the store but stopped seeing the trio of teenagers standing there. They stared at Leon and he stared back door closing behind him as the silence sat there, until he rose a brow.
"...Hop? What are you three doing here?"
"Uuuhh...We were-....SHOPPING!!," Hop answered quickly with a wide smile, "Yeah! That's right! We were shopping! Nice day for it!"
"I see." His brow rose more. "And is 'window shopping' the type of shopping you're doing?"
Hop looked like he'd been caught for a moment- "THE CLOTHES STORE!!" Gloria shouted making everyone look at her. "W-W-We were on our way ta ye clothes store! T-Toooo...Um. G-Get a gift for Y/n! Yeah! Nothin' like a cute sweater for the holidays! R-Right?!"
"Uh? Oh! Yeah! Totally!" "Yep! They 'ave all kinds of cool stuff!"
Leon still rose a brow looking between the three of their nervous smiles before huffing a chuckle and smiling. "Oh. Ok. How kind of you. Just be sure to get home before it gets too cold."
"We will." "Yeah!" "Don't worry 'bout us! Ye have a good day!"
With a smile Leon turned chuckling leaving the three to look at each other. "Alright. You three have fun. I'll be at Sonia's if you need me." He had to get that river location from Sonia for the date.
....Hop looked at Victor. "Think he suspects us?"
"I dunno...But ye two now realize that we gotta buy Y/n a sweater or else he will suspect somethin' right?"
They both looked at him before groaning and shaking their heads. But it wouldn't be the worst thing that would happen to anyone. No. That would be the very next day-
"I'm r-r-really sorry about this, Y/n."
"Lee. Don't worry about it-"
"But we're LOST!!"
Now you're probably wondering what you were doing lost in the middle of a couple fields. Well it's simple really. After that day you had finished working and returned home and waited for your day off tomorrow to have your official second date with the Champion. Instead of feeling nerves you were actually excited! There was just something about Leon that made you feel calm and at ease, and excited all the same. You were already ready that morning in your coat all dressed and ready to tackle the cold weather and then you waited for Leon. And you waited...And you waited...And you waited. You were by now pacing back and forth across your living room until FINALLLY around one o'clock there was a knock at your door. When you answered the door it was LEON and...Sonia? Leon looked out of breath heavily breathing and heaving, face pink from the cold and Sonia looked slightly worried and pitiful. Turns out Leon had picked up the map to the location he wanted to show you and made off to your house-...But somehow ended up in front of Magnolia's house, then at the train station, then in front of the Slumbering Wield's gate, and a few other places until he ran into Sonia passing by who was surprised and then understanding and helped him by having him follow her all the way back to your house. Oh well. You weren't mad. There was still plenty of time left. Well after thanking Sonia you let the now Embarrassed Champion come in and warm up inside for about an hour so he wasn't shivering anymore. You all finally set off at around two o' clock following the map Sonia lent Lee to this cool Pokemon sight seeing themed adventure....But you ended up in front of the store you worked at somehow that was beyond you considering the both of you went the opposite way of it. No worries though. You both tried again. And again. Ending up a few places. Leon seemed to only get more and more fidgity and worried constantly looking at the map and turning it this way and that and around at everything, but he let out a groan of frustration when you both somehow came around to stare at the back of your own house....HOW THO!? You all tried one more time but now you had no idea where you were. It looked like you were still in the Postwick fields but there wasn't any houses in sight, the sun had long already set, and it was starting to lightly snow not helping with how hard it was to see. And it was only then that Leon slowly turned the map around fully....and realized it had been upside down for who knows how long-
"RRRRRR- UGH!!"
You had jumped at the frustrated yell he gave off and the following conversation happened.
"Lee, calm down," you tried to reassure him, "It's alright. We're not that far from Postwick. We can probably walk back."
...Leon's shoulders slumped forward, hands nearly dropping the map. "What's the point?" He mumbled staring at the map. Already snow was starting to build up on his body. "I'd only get us lost again-"
"Are you seriously doing this now?" You asked bluntly raising a brow to him. "Since when did the Champion sound so down on himself?"
"Since the so called unbeatable Champion was beaten by a mere map." he turned to you glumly holding up the paper. "All I wanted was to just spend some time with you today. This was supposed to be special!...But I was a dummy and got us lost all day. Now there's no light and even if we tried following it back I'll probably just get us lost all over again."
"Hey. That's not your fault." You turned back around through the dark. The snowflakes weren't helping so you placed your hands above your eyes squinting into the dark for some kind of light from any house. Your breath was so cold wisps were curling around your face like smoke. "Things happen. I got lost a few times back home running errands for my mom."
Leon stared at you blankly. ".....How are you so calm about this? You should be angry at me."
"Well firstly because neither of us knew the map was upside down. And secondly because you taught me something very important."
"What?"
"Never doubt yourself!" You smiled back at his astonished look and laughed and- BY ARCEUS!! Your laughter was the cutest thing he's ever heard. It made his face go redder than what the cold made it as you turned to him with a smile half covered by the sobble themed scarf he got you last year. "You taught me that. Besides I'm having a nice time."
A quack sound went off in his head. "....Wha-..H-HOW!? W-What's so nice about-...about-..." His arms were thrown around around you, "This!?"
"Because I got to spend time with you,'' you answered simply with a shrug, "Trust me when I say I'm pretty much used to things not going my way, but you just gotta roll with it most of the time. Our date didn't go as we wanted but I still got to spend time with you and that's all I needed!" Leon still continued to stare at you as you looked around before giving up trying to spot anything and sighed before letting your arms flop to your sides. "Ok. There's no house lights so we won't be able to use that to get back home."
"Well what do we do?"
"I dunno. What do you usually do when you get lost like this?"
"Well usually when I can't get back I just have Charizard fly me back...But I know you hate flying." That's why he hadn't done it a long time ago. He knew you hated flying and didn't want to resort to it.
Like he thought you grimaced even at the mention of the idea. "Really?"
He rubbed the back of his neck. "I mean...It doesn't look like we have a lot of options at this point, unless you w-wanna try following the map again but I'm afraid we'd get lost again and it'll get even colder soon."
You again took time to look around the scenery. Even your footprints in the snow were gone and it was dark and snowy. There really wasn't any other options at this point. So with a sigh you turned back to him. "Alright. We have no other choice, but is your Charizard strong enough to carry two people?"
Now Leon smiled brightly again and nodded. "Charizard's strong enough to battle pokemon twice it's size without dynamxing. Carrying two people back home is a piece of cake!"
Well like he said you don't have many other options so with a nod he went ahead and took out his pokeball. Leon had you step back a couple feet and you realized why when he threw the ball up and in a flash of bright white light the pokemon appeared. Oh wow-...Charizard was a whole lot bigger than you remembered. The orange winged pokemon let out a loud cry as soon as it raised it's head, letting it echo throughout the empty fields like a real dragon but it looked surprised quickly. Blinking as it stared straight ahead before looking around with a curious grunt at all the snowflakes falling around it, before it settled it's eyes back on you two. Oh wow. Charizard was MASSIVE!! Leon was taller than you by a foot and this thing even towered over him! It was almost as big as a corviknight with a similarly large pair of wings that caused a small gust of wind to blow over you when he shook the snow from them making you shivered and curl deeper into your scarf. This thing had to be nearly seven or eight feet tall! And he was built like he ate pick up trucks for breakfast after bench pressing them first!! You didn't doubt he could carry two people easily.
"Hey, bud!," Leon greeted his partner, "Sorry for the rude wake up call but we got stuck in a bit of the problem. We're uh-...We're lost and need a hand getting back." It seems the pokemon was used to such requests because it just sighed at him. "Do you think you could give us a lift back to Postwick?" Before Leon had even finished asking, the Chairzard turned slightly and leaned down to where it nearly had all four limbs on the ground, crouching and tilting it's wings at such an angle to allow someone to climb on top of him without harming it. "Hey! Thanks so much!" You watched as Leon effortlessly clambered onto his pokemon's back without hesitating showing he actually did do these plenty of times before and shortly he was securely seated onto the waiting charizard's back. ...But he hummed and looked over at your frozen form staring at them in confusion. "Hey. What are you waiting for? C'mon and hop on!"
"Uh..." You eyed the awaiting Charizard shuffling your feet in the snow. "Leon..I don't know about this. I've never flown bareback before. I kinda like the security of having a metal taxi around me with seatbelt. Definitely the seatbelt bit. What if I fall off?"
"You won't."
"And how can you be so sure about that?"
"Because.." He extended his hand and you felt your eyes widened as he smiled at you. "I'm going to be right here to catch you." You opened your mouth hesitating- "Do you trust me?"
You blinked again looking at him. "What?"
"Do you trust me?"
You stared at him for a while more, a red coating your face as he still smiled at you before you slowly took his hand. "Yes."
With a gentle pull Leon pulled you towards him and helped you slowly climb ontop of the orange pokemon's back. It was...Strange. The charizard's skin felt smooth and soft but at the same time hard and tough like a hard leather surface, it was also pleasantly warm to the touch as you slowly sat yourself down on his back careful to mind his wings as you climbed up onto him. And you sat there for a moment. It was weird sitting on the back of a pokemon not having anything to hold onto. For crying out loud it wasn't a horse with a saddle and reins! How were you supposed to hang on?! You let out a small squeal as, still lowly crouched down, the giant pokemon turned with both of you still on his back, snow crunching under his heavy feet until he was facing the complete opposite direction you two were originally looking in. Oh. Was that the way back to Postwick? Giant bat like wings were raised and he flapped them once to knock off the gathered snowflakes before keeping them raised, ready to take off but not doing so. Probably waiting for Lee to give him the go ahead.
"Uh..S-So." Your hands patted along the Charizard's back not finding anything to grab onto unless you wanted to grab onto the thing's shoulders, but you didn't know if that was a good idea. "How am I supposed to hang on?"
"Huh? Oh right. Lean forward. Like if you were leaning down to tie your shoe." You rose a brow but did lean forward to get closer to the back of pokemon- !? and you froze when you felt Leon, who was sitting behind you reached forward, and grabbed onto his Charizard, his arms coming around either side of you, his chest to your back essentially holding you to him like a you both were riding a motorcycle. Your face already a red feeling him so close to you- "Now the take off will be really rocky. It'll launch ya forward like a rocket ship, but if you too just hold onto my arms! Charizard will take off once you're comfortable enough and say 'Go'."
...You blinked not catching any of that. "G-Go? AH!!"
You let out a scream as with a mighty flap of the giant wings, the charizard took off. In an instant you were sent lurching forward, hands instinctively latching onto Leon's arms as you gained height in just a second as snow flakes whirled around you and your eyes slammed shut. Head down and shivering as cold wind all but blew down your body, the only warmth coming from Leon leaning over your form helping you to hang on. After about five seconds, the lurching from the initial take off smoothed out and it was just gentle gliding with the occasional sound of wing beats from the Charizard, but you refused to open your eyes and still gripped tightly onto Lee's arms as if any moment you'd be thrown off by the wind. Snowflakes hit your body as they continued to fly by.
"Y/n?" You have a jump hearing him so close, literally just over your left shoulder. Face just going red just at how close you both were to one another. "You can open your eyes if you want. I promise things will be alright." You FIRMLY shook your head no. "Aw. C'mon. You trust me, don't you?" ....Your eyes in response just squeezed shut tighter for a moment- "I PROMISE you, I will never let you fall." Maybe it was the fact the red in your face made you light headed, or it was because you wanted to show you had trust in him, but you slowly opened your eyes, and blinked out. Nothing but pitched black met you, letting you see nothing. Not even how high you were, nothing but white snowflakes and wind hitting your cold face until your head turned feeling eyes on you and you were met with soft golded eyes just over your shoulder, gently looking at you and the Champion smiled at you. "There's that beautiful face.~"
Your face couldn't get any redder and your face whipped back to the pokemon as he chuckled. The rest of the ride back was short, it couldn't have been more than ten minutes tops when you were lurched forward again as the Charizard suddenly dipped and you once again slammed your eyes shut until the pokemon landed right in front of Leon's house. Leon got off first before turning and literally picking you up off the pokemon and placing you back on the ground on wobbly legs making him hold you for a moment...before shyly looking away and offering for you to spend the night since it was so late. To save yourself the awkward moment you agreed. Luckily Mrs. L was more than happy to let you crash on the sofa for the night, but oh boy was Silver worried about you some tomorrow morning. All in all, it wasn't as bad as you thought it would be. The days passed by on the regular until it hit one particular holiday. Christmas. You had been invited to spend the holiday with your friends and their family and had gladly accepted, taking the day prior to make some chocolate chip cookies for everyone because who didn't like those kind of cookies? And you didn't know what to get everyone else, especially so many people. And their certainly was a lot. Leon's whole family, the twins' whole family, plus Sonia and her grandmother and you (plus your two tag along pokemon). Luckily it seemed everyone liked your gift. The whole place was lit up beautifully and bright and full of laughter. Yep. Definitely one of the best Christmases you've ever had, you even got a few presents along with everyone else when it was time to open gifts. Not a whole lot. A kitchen utensil or two for your house, and a sweater with Snom prints on it from the guys, but it was still more than you could ever hope for. At one point most everyone was eating or talking to one another leaving you to pet Zen for a moment, the zangoose purred at your touch despite his face still looking grumpy and you chuckled at it-
"Y/n!" You hummed and looked up to the voice seeing none other than Gloria standing there with a sly smile on her face. "Merry Christmas to ye!"
"Merry Christmas-" You smiled.
"Hey," she cut you off making you blink, "Could I get yer help with somethin'?"
Your brow rose. "...Ok. What do you need help with?"
"One o' the outside decorations fell off the house n' I can't reach up to put it back up! Seein' as yer taller can ye help me?"
You smiled and stood up. "Sure! I don't mind."
Her sly smile widened into a smirk. "Gooood. Follow me.~"
Grabbing your coat, you quickly put in on and followed Gloria outside into the cold but were surprised when she motioned for you to follow her more towards the small court instead of the side of the house, which confused you but you followed her nonetheless. Coming to the small tree in their yard you were surprised to see two other people there. Leon and Hop were standing there as Leon looking to be fiddling with something hanging from the lowest branch of the tree he could barely reach on his tiptoes but he stopped and turned towards the two of you as you approached and you noticed what he had been fiddling with was mistletoe, and there was something small and round in his hand when he turned to see you two upon hearing your footsteps crunching in the snow. Leon looked as equally surprised to see the two of you standing there as you were.
"Y/n?''
"Lee?"
"Gloria? What are you girls doing out here?"
"Oh! Nothin' I jus' asked Y/n ta come out and help us with the decorations!,'' Gloria quickly said smirk proud on her face, "But I see Hop had beat me to it askin' ye!"
"Oh gosh. SO SORRY for the misunderstanding, Gloria." Hop said with an equally big smirk and wink towards his friend. "But I already asked Lee to help me set it back up. But HEY! While you two are out here-" Leon blinked as Hop pushed his brother a few steps towards you. "-Lee has a little gift for you so he can give it to you now!"
You looked surprised between him and Leon before opening your mouth- Hop gasped. "Oh! But I forgot! I have some uh-...Important research papers to give Sonia before she leaves." He pointed at Lee taking a few steps back towards the house. "So you go ahead and give Y/n her gift!"
"An' I forgot Mum asked me ta help put away the leftover food!," Gloria added also stepping back and smiling widely. "I have ta go now! Bye!"
And just like that the two skidaddled like a pair of soaked purrloins back towards the house and jumping inside, closing the door behind them. Leaving you and Leon by yourselves in the cold. The Awkward silence gathered for a moment as you two processed what in Arceus's name just happened before you slowly turned back to one another.
".....So. Hop asked you to come outside to fix something, too?"
He slowly nodded. "Uh..Yeah." he pointed up towards the mistletoe. "He said Gramps wanted to put it up for a romantic moment with Gran..." He stared at you, then at the house, then back up to the mistletoe face red and rubbing his neck. "But I'm starting to think he had a different motive."
You hummed deadpanned and looking back at the house. "I think so too." You groaned which ended in a chuckle. "Do you think they-"
"Caught onto us?"..He sighed embarrassed. "Yeah. I think they overheard me asking you out a second time, and ran with the idea to make this."
You chuckled more. "Well.." You eyed the mistletoe. "Can't say they didn't try. It was a sly plan."
"Um..Ye-Yeah." Leon cleared his throat before holding out the pokeball to you making you blink. "B-B-But Hop wasn't lying when he said I had a gift to give you, he just pulled me out here before I can give him to you."
You rose a brow before looking at the pokeball in his hand. "Him?"
"I-I-It's a rotom." he sheepishly explained making you look at him surprised. "I-I know you won a rotomi phone at the fair last year, but you don't have a rotom to go with in. I-I want you to have this, a-and my number...M-Maybe we can even get together a-and set it up for you?"
You still stared at him for a long time before smiling and he felt red rise to his cheeks once your hand grabbed it from him staring at it lovingly. "....Y'know you're always really thoughtful of others, and this is something I didn't know I needed." You gazed a soft look back at him making him gulp. "And here I am not getting anything for you."
"T-That's not true! You're cookies were delicious!"
"Hehehe.~ You're always so sweet too. Jeez. It's enough to make a girl blush.~"
You smiled again. Red rushed to his face when you did so. Gold eyes could only gaze at you and your perfect face. Your face lightly cupping your face just the right way. The frost that had caught onto your lashes twinkling in the lights like little stars orbiting your beautiful f/c eyes which was as reflective as mirrors and just as shiny. Your cheeks a beautiful shade not unlike a sweet rose. But eventually his eyes gazed towards your lips. Curled up in a smile, and a pink not unlike a pecha berry and maybe just as sweet if he was honest. The Champion nearly fainted when you stepped in front of the house lights, the lights shining on you just the right way to give him the impression you were an angel. A sight he was hesitant to leave. Huh. And you were both closer than he remembered. Just a few inches from one another twinkling under the lights. And you blinked at the sudden closeness too. Face going a dim pink and a few chuckles from the moment escaping you. Barely anyone was outside now, too busy inside mingling, eating the food, and enjoying the party. So it was just you two. Alone out here with nothing but each other for company. His mind felt completely blank and numb but in a good way, compelling him to reach his hands up and cup a cheek of yours something his rational brain wouldn't allow himself to do. Inches away now. You didn't move away. He stared at the woman in front of him, this silly silly woman with the beautifully flowing hair and the cute smile. If he was watching this as an outsider, he would've laughed at how they were literally just strangers less than a while ago, but right now it didn't seem any of that or anything else mattered. Not even the topic they had been discussing just a few seconds ago. The wind blew some more rustling the snowflakes and driving the intoxicating sweet scents from the banquet around them more. And blowing some of that pretty hair into his face, which he immediately reached to pull away and you made no move to stop him from doing that. Or removing the hand that now cupped your cheek. Maybe it really was a mutual madness they both shared or some form of chaos in their lives, but right now....With them being so close...And so vulnerable. It was only natural of course-.. It's what soulmates do-.. Of course they would since-...
They kissed.
...But just for a brief second. For a moment you two were in a loving embrace warmer than the cold until he suddenly pulled away, a small flash behind you going off. You stood there for a moment as the cold wind blew on you in the dim lights as he gave you an apologetic look.
"W-Wait." Still holding your face he frowned. "Y-You still never answered my question. Will you go to Pasio with me? I-I-..." A thumb gently caressed where his hands held you. "I do-don't want to be apart for so long."
You blinked for a moment but smiled in his hold. "Of course I am. Did you really think I'd let my boyfriend go without me?"
"....boyfriend?..."
It was barely above a whisper and he doubted if you heard it as quiet as an espurr. Leon's eyes went wider than plates for a moment and the silence once again set in...before he leaned his forehead against yours all of a sudden still holding your face and you gave a small jump as he did so. Leaning above you you suddenly felt something wet on your face and panicked when you noticed the quivering lips and tears falling down his cold face only to hit yours and fall down your own face warming the cold skin.
"L-LEON!?", you shouted startled. "Are you alright?"
A shaking smile graced his features as he held you. "I-I'm fine. Lo-Love's just overwhelming s-s-sometimes."
....You sighed relieved before smiling back. "Just kiss me you dork.~"
Meanwhile three heads poked out from behind the shed before looking to one another totally happy.
"SEE!? I TOLD YOU IT WOULD WORK!," Gloria whisper-yelled at Victor who was holding a polaroid camera and gazing at the photograph he took of Y/n and Leon kissing under the mistletoe.
"Yeah!...But do you think they saw Vic take the picture?," Hop whispered back.
"Nah! They're too busy fallin' n' love ta notice us."
.....Leon did notice and later that night had a VERY stern talk with the three of them and took the photo to be framed on his wall.
-One Month Later-
HHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOONNNNKKK!!!
The giant cruise ship docked on the piers of the Pasio Region. The sky a beautiful blue and people in a large crowd cheering one word over and over and over again.
"LEON!! LEON!! LEON!!"
Why was he here? Well he had just arrived after taking care of a lot of things before he left having Y/n and his lil sibs go ahead of him. he walked off the ship carrying two heavy traveling bags strapped to himself following after Marnie and Piers. The sight of the Champion making the crowds cheer louder as the unbeatable champion himself arrive. Shooting his own signature pose to the crowd who all cheered louder despite security holding them back. In the distance there was a rather large building with a bright golden star where the entire Masters League would take place, many many cute looking houses and brick roads leading everywhere, and come trees here and there. This was it. His home for the next year. Away from Galar. It took him nearly a month to arrange everything with the Chairwoman. Took them all twenty minutes to even get through the crowd and all the way through to the other side where two people were waiting for them.
"Leon! Marnie! Piers!" Heads turned to a familiar sight of Gloria and a young boy her age that they had never seen before."Over 'ere!"
Of course the Champion was absolutely delighted to see his surrogate little sister and greeted her with a giant hug. "Hey! Gloria!" Pulling away the Champion smiled at her. "I can feel the excitement in the air! This place sure reminds me of Galar!"
Gloria nodded. "Yeah! Everyone's pumped cuz ye all came! This s' my new friend!'' And she gestured to the boy next to her. "Scottie n' his sister live on the island n' he's gonna show ya where ta get your sync stones for the Masters League."
Her friend smile. "'Ello. It's nice ta finally meet 'cha!' He spoke in the same accent Gloria had. "Yeah! I can show ya right now if ye want."
And Leon agreed. Good. They could get away from the crowd for a bit so he can relax and try to settle in and find you. But not before Leon turned to give one last hurrah to the crowd.
"Hello, Hello Pasio! Your Galar Champion Leon is here! I promise I'll keep doing my best to deliver the greatest battles for you all to watch! Thanks for the support! Let's all have a champion time! We'll see you at the arena!"
The crowd cheered and Piers shook his head again. "Tch. Looks like your reputation as the Unbeatable Leon proceeds ya here on Pasio as well."
"Hey! Gloria n' I are gonna have some battles too y'know!"
"Yeah, Marnie! We'll jus' have ta show 'em what we're made of when we have our matches! For now though let's get ya'll settled in! You'll like the rooms the Prince set up for us all! Hop's gonna be so happy ta see ya!"
He sighed in relief as everyone agreed as they could finally go and get settled into their rooms and focus on the important bits. Like find you and seeing how everyone settled in before their 'Welcome to Pasio' exhibition match.

Diamond In The Rough ch15 Settling Down In Circhester P4
Tumblr media
Gordie paused and he slowly looked up to Elsa. "It's okayin' my transfer to where?"
Her response was to turn the paper around with the official seal and the fancy writing and held it up to his blinking face. "It's okayin' our temporary transfer to the Pasio Region! You've been chosen to compete in the Masters League!" A bright smile was beaming on her face and her eyes were starry like, "Well...actually only you an Mum's been chosen."
Her big brother didn't answer at first instead taking the letter from Her and immediately opened it, breaking the seal and opening the folded paper to let eyes dance across the words plastered across it. It was thick too. The reason why was because there was already a passport, cruise ticket, and everything else he needed to take a trip overseas along with the very long and very detailed explanation from the Chairwoman in the letter for the Masters League and that he'd be going to Pasio for-....
"A whole year!?"
Elsa perked up hearing Gordie's voice and found her big brother staring at the paper wide eyed in disbelief. "Wha- No. Just ten months but almost a year! And you're leavin' at the end of this month! Isn't it exciting, Gordie?"....She blinked as Gordie still stared at the letter in his hands. "Oi! Are you alright?"
Gordie finally blinked to her before opening his mouth, closing his mouth, and then looking back to the letter. "I-...Y-Yeah..I'm good." He beamed a smile at her again. "This is great news, Elsa! C'mon. H-Help me hang up these tinsels then we can set up the Christmas tree."
He distracted himself by setting up the Christmas decorations and having dinner with his family before taking time out to actually look at everything he was sent. The Prince had found his battling exceptional and thus had picked him along with a few other Gym Leaders, his mother included, to come compete in the Masters League. And they were leaving right after the Christmas holiday. His FIRST Christmas he wanted to celebrate with YOU!! He wasn't expecting this so soon! How was he even supposed to break the news to you!? Well...Turns out he had to break it to you sooner rather than later when you came to visit him unexpectedly and by then he decided to rip off the band aid and tell you what exactly was going on. Your reaction was as expected when he showed you the official letter from the Chairwoman and felt guilty as your face went from happy to shocked.
"W-What!? You're gonna be gone for THAT long!?"
"Y-Yeah." He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly and guiltily. "*sigh* It's not like I was expectin' it either." He felt terrible about all of this. He wouldn't be there to watch you graduate or spend New Years' Eve with you or spend so many other holidays with you. "But..This 's a big opportunity for Galar and for everyone else. I-...I was thinkin' about it and I think it would be best if I went, but I couldn't leave without tellin' ya."
"W-What about your brothers and sister?," you pointed out, "With both of you gone, who's going to look after them? And your gyms?"
"Dontcha worry. We already got our workers ta look after the gym, an' as for my sibs, a good family friend of my ma's is comin' over to watch 'em all for us! She's really great with kids and has watched them before. So they'll be well taken cared of. It's...I-It's what you thought about all this that worried me the most. Long distance in a relationship d-doesn't sound like something you'd like."
You nodded. "You're right. It's not something I like." He seemed to look dejected for a second before you reached out for him. One hand grabbing his and the other coming up to cup his cheek to make him look at you again. "But it shouldn't make you not want to go. I want you to go if you want to! I think you'd be great out there in the pokemon league! I love you and I won't hold you back."
With each word you spoke, his eyes went wider and wider until he stared at you like an owl. Until he smiled, chuckled, and allowed himself to lean into your hands. "Now I know why I fell for ya in the first place.~ I love ya so much."
"I love you too. And I want to do something to make things less stressful for you."
"Jus' spend time with me," he answered pulling your hand closer to his heart and leaning into your own touch. "That's all I ask for. It's all I want for us."
"Then that's what I'll do. In fact, I'll do you one better."
Something soft grabbed his hand and he froze still staring at the snowy ground beneath his feet. A sight he was hesitant to leave when he turned back to look at you again. Huh. And you were both closer than he remembered. Just a few inches from one another twinkling under the lights. And you blinked at the sudden closeness too. Face going a dim pink and a few chuckles from the moment escaping you. Barely anyone was outside now, or pokemon for that matter. So it was just you two. Alone out here with nothing but each other for company. His mind felt completely blank and numb but in a good way, compelling him to reach his hands up and cup a cheek of yours something his rational brain wouldn't allow himself to do. Inches away now. You didn't move away. He stared at the woman in front of him, this woman with the beautifully flowing hair and the cute smile. If he was watching this as an outsider, he would've laughed at how they were literally just strangers less than a while ago, but right now it didn't seem any of that or anything else mattered. The wind blew some more rustling the snowflakes and blowing some of that pretty hair into his face, which he immediately reached to pull away and Y/n made no move to stop him from doing that. Or removing the hand that now cupped her cheek. Maybe it really was a mutual madness they both shared or some form of chaos in their lives, but right now....With them being so close...And so vulnerable. It was only natural of course-.. It's what soulmates do-.. Of course they would since-...
They kissed.
Gordie was leaving. For a full year, and he wouldn't be back until the very next year. You were in shock when he first broke the news to you, then heartbroken. You guys were just starting out and now he had to go away for another full year!? It wasn't fair! But there wasn't anything either of you could do anything about it. After all this was a big opportunity for him and it was an honor to compete in the very first ever Master's League so...You understood. That doesn't mean you didn't like it though. Gordie was one of the first Galar gym leaders to leave. He had one month to prepare to go on this extended trip so he spent it filling out the required paperwork, packing, and spending as much time with you and his siblings as possible. That's right. You weren't the only one who was upset he'd be gone for such a long time. And then soon it was time for him to leave at the end of the month. He'd be heading to Hulbury to catch a ship which would take him to the Pasio Region. Almost all of Circhester had gathered to see off their gym leaders which was filled with a few congratulations and goodbyes. He made sure to hug the triplets and Elsa good bye.
"Keep an eye on the gym and don't worry about paying the staff alright? The Chairwoman's already taking care of that for me. Be good for Auntie Sally ok?," Melony was fussing over her children like any mother would.  "Don't be out late and don't go anywhere without telling Auntie Sally first. You just make sure you do good in school and don't let Snowball in the house again! "
He then turned to you when all was said and done and you two stared at each other for a silent moment, before he held his arms out offering you a hug and you gladly took it wrapping your arms around his middle and him hugging you back.
"And YOU be careful living out there," he mumbled, "I don't want you getting hurt again and I can't be here to help you. Just the thought of that happenin' makes me mad I gotta go. If ya need anythin' call me. I don't care 'bout the stupid Masters League. I'll swim across the ocean and come back if I have too."
You chuckled. "Don't be so dramatic. I'll be fine. You just go and show everyone what you can do. Besides it's only until next year right? It won't be that long."
Although it would sure feel like it. He then left. Picking up his suitcase and giving the crowd one last good bye before he entered the taxi and took off for Hulbury leaving you to stand there and just watch it before it faded into the tiniest black speck, and then into nothing.
The following months were peaceful but almost bland and boring as you settled into a routine. Get up, go to school, get homework done, and then come back home. All day every day. You still on instinct looked over your shoulder expecting Gordie to be knocking at your door any moment to visit but he never did and you would feel disappointed. You still gone off in your life. Most of the hard assignments was over. School didn't end until around the end of February so those last two months of school kept you busy and helped to keep your mind off things, and it all went ok. Gordie had left one last gift to you before he left, he had message your battle studies teacher and attested to witnessing you catching three of your pokemon which was proof enough to help you pass that assignment. You'd be sure to make up that kindness to him later when he came back. But soon even the classes were over and you had to bid good bye to Topaz as you moved on out of the dorms and back into the hotel to await your notification from the school for your grades and when your graduation ceremony would be, which turns out took two months to be settled. In the middle of March, waiting there to be called on stage from within the front of the school building just to get that small piece of paper from Mr. Flake. You weren't too bothered by it. It was just like your highschool graduation after all. You also thought you saw Elsa in the crowd but you were probably just seeing things. Which left you with trying to figure out what was left to do while waiting for Gordie to return, so you prayed to Arceus to give you something to do other than continue your job at Bob's Your Uncle and living in a hotel room waiting for Gordie to return. And as if Arceus himself was listening, you found the best answer you could ask for.
You were just passing by it on your way to work one morning, and you saw the 'For Sale' sign in the window of the local bakery which doubled as someone's home. When you asked the owner about it, turns out they were retiring and selling their home/bakery to move somewhere warmer. This was-...This was it! This was your chance! So OF COURSE you offered to buy the place from the owners before anyone else could, and you thanked Arceus every night when the title of ownership was soon sighed over and placed into your hands. Sure your savings too quite the hit and this place was going to take some work-....Ok. A LOT of work that'd take you a LONG time to get this place up and running again between your job and trying to make this place your own, but things seemed to be looking up for you. So slowly days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Spring turned into Summer. Summer turned into Autumn. And Autumn turned into Winter. During all of this the you'd sometimes see one of Gordie's little siblings come to the cafe you still currently worked at, and you made small talk with them and they would relay any more news from Gordie to you. Until one day...one fateful day, you got a call. It was one random day, you were trying to figure out how you were going to hire some construction workers to come and fix up your large kitchen when a familiar ringtone caught your attention as Sparky flew out from your pocket.
"*ZZZZZTTT* Incoming call from Gordie. Do you wish to accept call or decline call?," he asked you.
You stared at him completely stunned. Gordie?....GRODIE WAS CALLING YOU!? You nearly dropped the phone book in your hands in favor of smiling at him. "ACCEPT!! ACCEPT NOW!!" You watched with held breath as the ringing stopped as Sparky accepted the call, "H-Hello!?"
"Y/n?,'' Gordie's voice came through the other side timidly before hearing your voice. "Y/N! My Diamond! Baby! Oh it's so good to hear your voice again!"
"My voice? What about yours?! I haven't heard from you in forever!" You instantly smiled. "Where have you been?!"
A tired sigh came from the other side. "It's a long story. There's been a lot of bandits and villains in this region this last year-"
"Villains and bandits!?"
"D-Don't worry! Everyone's ok, but a lotta the events have been pushed back because of 'em. That's why it's been takin' longer than usual for us to come home. I just wanted to call and make sure you were aware o' that."
Ah. That made sense...you guessed. "Well...at least it's all handled. But when are you all coming home?"
"That's just it! That's the good news! We're comin' home in two months!"
"T-Two months!?" Your draw practically dropped in both shock...and absolute happiness. "T-T-That soon!? You mean it!"
"Yeah! That soon! *sigh* It's gonna be so good to see you and my family again...I miss you so much."
"I miss you too."
More time passed. New Year's came and went and you went into January with a much better feeling. Gordie would soon return now, just after December. It made you start putting a smile on your face and a pep in your step again waiting for the day he'd finally return. It seemed all good things were happening to you now. Your bakery was starting to come put together more too, soon you'd actually be able to start baking and selling goods. And then it was FINALLY the end of the year! The day all the Master League finally took place was here and everyone gathered around the cafe including you to watch the hours long battling between trainers and gym leaders and champions from around the world! You saw Piers in one battle and Gloria in another and then there was Gordie who you paid very much attention too. He certainly made it very fair. To the third round in fact before he lost to the Sinnoh Champion Cynthia who proceeded onto the second to last round. It did hurt a little watching him fail so close to the finally but he did make it very, very far into the event and he tried his best which was all that mattered. The entire event ended in a tie between your very own Unbeatable Champion and Cynthia who didn't look the least bit bothered by sharing the winning title with another Champion. And soon after the event was over...Which meant one thing-
GORDIE WAS COMING HOME SOON!!
The thought made you as giddy as a munchlax at an all you can eat buffet. You counted the days as they all started slowly counting down to Gordie's eventually arrival back in Circhester, and then it happened. You were working and it was noon time. There you were just wiping down one of the tables near the windows when you both saw and felt it. People. LOTS of people running down the streets towards the entrance to Circhester and you were confused. Confused you went out of the store to take a look yourself and you froze when seeing it. A GIANT black bird just a little ways in the distance was coming forward towards the town and in it's claws was a taxi. That could only mean one person. GORDIE. Gordie was finally back! Before you could even stop yourself you found yourself running in the crowd all the way towards the entrance to Circhester where the taxi landed and you fought and pushed your way past people to the front as the Taxi door opened and someone with blonde-white hair stepped out and everyone cheered.
A smile graced the man's features as he gave a lighthearted but tired wave knowing the borage of questions and insisting a party be held thrown at him as he and his mother were swarmed by people. Blue eyes darting around before meeting eyes of all colors one after another until a single woman pushed her way to the front and he froze. Panting and tired, f/c eyes looked up to meet long lost blue ones. And the earth stood still for a moment. Neither moving an inch. Before in an instant you felt strong arms wrap around yourself and you gladly returned the warm embrace giving to you held close by the taller man before you. More cheers echoing out.
Soft tears fell from the man's eyes as he softly cried hold getting tighter slightly and a smile appeared on his features.
"My diamond."

Hello, welcome back to my fucked up world. lets see if i can get this in one post hvygbun
(TW blood, body horror?) Mmm was thinking about how Fiona's "fleshing out" would go
A brief of what "fleshing out" is: essentially it's the process of going from 100% human to chosen (demigod?? idk-) there's no set order to it, some get headaches some get body pain/shakes - it's like having a really bad cold but always within the process a chosen's body has to "let go" of some of its human self. Mostly happens by the chosen throwing up their 'normal' blood until their 'chosen' blood regenerates in them. Chosen blood has strands of Ichor in it (gold/'blood of the gods')
I already have Hop's planned out, imma give Malik a pass cause he already went through something similar except with poison, so it's Fiona's turn.
I imaged she'd be at wyndon stadium along with the other gym leaders; probably for expedition matches/star tournament. Fiona's just about to take a sip of her water bottle but before she can even take one she starts hacking up something, Marnie and Bea gently tease her yaknow like "gezz mate slow down-" something or other, but Fiona keeps coughing- coughing bad. So Bea gives her a wack on the back, both unaware of her strength but also poor timing as immediately after that Fiona hurls a torrent, a waterfall of blood onto her shoes. (not giving a carrie moment to Bea & Marns-)
obviously Bea and Marnie are freaked the fuck out (cue that one OHMYGOD- tiktok sound out of Marnie) getting everyone's attention (if i wasn't already on that side of the room already-) Bea however is on it she's already booking it out the locker(?) room to get aid/medics while Fiona stands in place both ill and internally freaking out. She feels another wave so she grabs the wall (with a bloodied hand) and makes it to the closest trash can.
Luckily Leon was already on his way to go announce the start of the tournament but Bea stops him, standing pin straight as she blurs out "Fiona threw up blood" with Leon promptly responding "-what-" before he's rushing back with Bea to the locker room. When they get there they see Piers and Bede trying to keep Marnie calm, Bede looks pale himself, Rai's already telling the league staff to stall things and calling the paramedics, Gordie and Milo come up to Leon to explain that Nessa is currently in the bathroom with Fiona who's still hurling. and there's a track of Fiona's bloodied shoe print through the locker room as she unknowingly stepped in it trying to run to the bathroom.
so while all that chaos is happening, Sonia, Fiona's mum and Wick'Bros mum are up in the stands on a girls trip out, yay! Obviously Sonia along with everyone is wondering what's taking so long as it's been about 15-20 minutes after the scheduled start time, Fiona's mum is a little worried. Luckily the three decided to go grab snacks while they waited just as Leon calls Sonia; Sonia puts him on speaker and was about to ask what was up until Leon flatly tells her to take him off speaker- no, actually to Bring Fiona's mum down to the locker rooms. they give each other a pale look before they all scurry down
Leon calmly explains what happened and has to ask her mum if Fiona was allergic to anything or if she had any illnesses or complications, to which she says no other than seasonal allergies before she can go run off to meet with Fiona. Sonia's bug eyed as all of this happens until she looks at Leon as he's turned around watching after Fio's mum went. Sonia can see his phone gripped in his hand, assuming why, she quickly reassures him before saying she needed to go call Magnolia.
Sonia goes off to a quieter hallway and bites her nail as her phone rings, praying He'll(Hop) pick up just this once. But the call shuts off, and her rotom gives a sad, apologetic look before it recites the "this number has been blocked, redial the number and try again later…" before it shuts off, leaving Sonia with her hand to her forehead in that really quite hallway. So. coincidentally Hop just had his fleshing out earlier that morning, and it wasn't until aroung the time that Fiona had hers that he understood that this happens to all chosens. So, once his throat is feeling up to it (-Yaknow after. also throwing up blood) he. very nervously, very guiltily, sends Fiona a short voice memo through text. His voice is soar and scratchy and he coughs through it but he gives her a, honestly rather vague "I'm so sorry im not there- i should be but im not- i think i know what you're going through- or maybe i don't and ill just sound insane-". But as Fiona listens to it in her hospital bed, she silently cries, thinking she knows exactly what he's talking about- it's kinda hard to tell with her woozy head, but. she can feel it in her. in her heart and soul. and just hearing his voice again is gonna give her more than enough strength to get through this, and to hopefully go find him after.

Hiya! So I think one of the coolest things in Scarlet / Violet is the fact that you can lose to Nemona in all of her battles except the final one. I was wondering, if you did make a OC based around the ScarVio protag, or if you already have one, would that factor into their development at all?
Hi there anon! I apologize in advance, this kind of turned into a infodump! So I don't have an OC for Scarlet and Violet because I wanted to take a break on making OCs. But I also didn't feel like using Florian/Juliana because I had ideas on how I wanted to adapt the storyline to the cactusverse narrative. Instead I wanted to take a different approach and have a canon non-protagonist character (say a rival or a gym leader) become the protagonist and become a champion rank trainer. And so I chose Raihan for SV cactusverse protagonist. Since it occurs after the events of SwSh I felt it was time to give some more development to Raihan. He still wants to beat Leon, even though Leon was bested by Calla. But he realizes that maybe he needs to gain more tactics. After all it was the surprising use of a toxic stall tactic that allowed Calla to overcome Leon, something that hadn't been used that high up in the league before. Seeing how Calla won, Raihan began to wonder if maybe gathering new techniques might be the key. Since his league card states he could easily become champion in another region I decided to make venture out of Galar for a bit to do some training. So he ended up taking a bit of a leave during the off-season one year to go to the Naranja Academy. He decided he wanted start fresh and therefore arranged with Clavell to get a Paldean starter...which ended up being Fuecoco. Of course this is how he meets Nemona and their rivalry starts. So to answer your question about do those losses have any effect on Raihan's travels through Paldea...nope! See while both Raihan and Nemona are both champion level trainers (Raihan unofficially until he he passes the champion assessment and is now Champion Raihan) the difference in level of skill is immense. Galar along with Sinnoh, Unova, and the Indigo League are known as the strongest league circuits that actually outclass the other regions in cactusverse by a fair margin. His time in the Galar League battling trainers of similar or greater caliber (Leon, Piers, Gordie, Mustard, Peony, Calla, other former champions) just allowed him to hone his skills to a degree Nemona couldn't fathom since she spends her time trying to battle people who are, to put it bluntly, not at a level that can actually give her the "fruitful battles" she desires.
Paldea doesn't produce the same level of champion rank trainers as the ones coming from the Indigo League, Unova, Sinnoh and especially Galar. This is partly because having a champion rank over just a reigning champion and former champions makes the ones who can get to that level more lax in training...because the threat of loss isn't there and so there's less drive in improving. This is something that is known to Geeta in my verse which is why she overworks herself working both the league and at the academy to start producing more trainers who could become champion to hopefully help raise their rankings among international leagues (she's not going to get rid of the champion rank, because it's beneficial to her, but she's trying to play a numbers game where having more champions per capita would improve their standing). Don't get me wrong, the Paldean trainers have the potential, but they haven't tapped into it. It's why Geeta talks a lot about talent in cactusverse. But it's not really a talent issue that's plaguing Paldea's league which is holding them back. It's an issue of a lack of stakes that reward ambition that keep the drive going. Back to Raihan and Nemona. Raihan doesn't crush Nemona in any of their battles. Nemona is talented and they're both starting from scratch. But Raihan always has the upper hand in their bouts just because of his drive to win and having a skill-set forged by having real stakes. But Nemona of course doesn't mind. One she's a battle fanatic and two it helps her learn something. She's obviously one of La Primera's biggest supporters and wants to see her goal of seeing Paldea's trainers shine especially on the world stage. Fighting a trainer who got their skill in an insanely intense league helped her see where Paldea was lacking. So she helps encourage Geeta to start making the rules around the league a bit tougher to encourage people not rest on their laurels. And likewise Raihan learned a lot on his journey in Paldea that he brings back to Galar (the perks of Paldea having a champion rank instead of just one reigning champion means he's not obligated to stay) as overall the Paldean league is a lot less stress-inducing. And there were definitely ways the Galar league could improve by being being less draining but still intense battlewise.

Oh this is such a perfect beginning - within a few sentences one is absolutely present and invested in this fabulously detailed world you’ve created - how do you do that so fast?? Like the detail of the pitch lines just somehow makes it so REAL. And very soon we know exactly who we are dealing with and WHEN we join them. Aaaaagh!
Poor Virgil feels there is a distance between he and Scott right now… ouch. And the fact he calls him Flaithri… that’s got to hurt both of them, it wasn’t supposed to be his name for a long while 😩 except he doesn’t answer to it does he? Was it deliberate? Or in his distracted mood does he just not associate the title with himself? Whatever happens he’s always Scott and he answers to that call.
And of course he’s pacing on a wounded thigh 😒 Oh Scott…
I love how you’ve introduced Casey, Kyrano and Tan 🥰
Ever the king he was born to be there were no tears.
oh ack! Oh that hurts! He’s been raised to be so stoic he can’t shed a tear at this kind of news??? Virgil can read him though. But Scott still clings to hope whereas Virgil thinks it’s over because whatever Scott and John are planning is clearly not something Virgil thinks they should consider! He hasn’t! And yet… it’s very Scott that he would try anything to avoid losing Gordy. How could any ‘price’ be worse?
And the blue of his brother’s eyes was terrible
OH THAT LINE!! It has haunted me for weeks! Such a powerful image. Bloody Gaat!!! Why can’t he just leave well alone?? I dread to think how the Scourge played out… they are all already carrying so much pain and he pursues them again!!
The former Flaithri’s immediate but unsuccessful defence is predictable. But that it is Gordon who steps up, their mere 4th son, the sea boy - probably Gaat didn’t even consider him a variable in his plans. And yet he is the hero. And he gets so very fried for it (honestly nutty poor Fishy, not only falling from the sky but set on fire too?? What of his youthful skin and athletic vigour huh??)
I’m with Scott. They have to try anything to save him. They’ll never forgive themselves if they don’t!
FWIW I also LOVE that you’ve hobbled Scott to match Hiccup. And the fact their father was killed tragically by dragon fire meaning he had to suddenly assume the role of leader? Yeeeeah you say there’s no HTTYD in it buuut…
(Off to ponder terrible blue on the school run)

Okay, so about a third of you who voted requested some more Thunderdragons. I don't have much, and I need to write more, but here is the intro to the fic about Gordon's dragon.
This is a standalone fic that happens a few years before Óen. There are no HTTYD characters in this one. I needed to write it to sort out their history so I could write Óen. This AU/Crossover is hard work :D
Many thanks to @onereyofstarlight and @idontknowreallywhy for all their support on this project. And many thanks to those of you who answered my poll today. It gives me an idea of what you guys would prefer. As always, I can't guarantee anything (stupid brain won't even do what I prefer), but you never know.
Oh, and this is apparently my 12,008th post on this blog. Go me :D
I hope you enjoy this bit.

Virgil O’Treasaigh hurried between the tents careful not to trip on the pitch lines, but moving as fast as possible nonetheless.
The Flaithri’s tent was not far, the stamp of the Thunderbird was lit up by the torches clearly in the night, but it felt like leagues into the distance.
Perhaps because the title of Flaithri had shifted so recently and so painfully. Because behind that stamp he would no longer find his father, but instead his eldest brother.
And he feared his mood.
His flight leathers rubbed in places sore from travel and he let out a breath.
Casey had placed guards at the tent, the soldiers eyes sharp as he passed between them without question, striding through the tightly woven flax as it was whipped up by the wind off the black ocean to the west.
“Flaithri, I must speak with you.”
His brother was pacing, of a sort, the injury to his leg forcing a limp that had Virgil biting back protest. Considering the slice to his thigh, it was a sign of his agitation that he could pace at all.
Kyrano stood to one side, his eagle eyes watching everything. His daughter,  Tan, may as well have been a statue in his honour, her stance so mirrored her father’s.
“Scott!”
His brother stopped. His stance lopsided as he turned to face Virgil. “News?”
Virgil swallowed. “Mathair Chriona fears he will not see the light of morning.”
He watched his brother absorb the information. Ever the king he was born to be, there were no tears, only hurt in the depths of his eyes. “Nothing can be done?”
“We have tried everything. He has lost too much and his heart is beginning to falter.” Virgil’s voice cracked on the last word and his head dipped, his own calm strained beyond exhaustion and grief.
A hand landed on his shoulder, fingers tightening almost enough to cause pain. “John has spoken to Cóic.”
Virgil’s head shot up. “No!”
“Virgil, I will lose no more family today.”
And the blue of his brother’s eyes was terrible. Because today they had seen their father taken from them, the fire of Gaat’s beast scorching him from the earth.
The attack had been sudden and unexpected. CĂłic had been unable to give warning, still too young to have the reach of an adult matriarch.
They had thought they were safe, hidden in the mountains in the land of the Picts, far from their homeland and the decimation the Scourge had wrought. They thought that Gaat could not find them.
His attack had targeted John and CĂłic as it always did. CĂłic was what he wanted, of course. The power of the Matriarch and the offence of John receiving the gift and not him had maddened the man.
But John had family and their father had intervened to protect and given his life. It was Gordon, seamaster at arms, who had leapt up onto the worm, stabbed the man, and ended the fight.
But despite his victory, Gaat’s beast had shaken him off and Gordon had fallen. If that was not enough, the cursed worm had then raked Virgil’s little brother with fire.
Gaat had been desperate and had withdrawn to lick his wounds.
But Gordon, dear Gordon…
A single tear tracked down Virgil’s cheek.
“Cóic will save him.”
“She can’t. We don’t know what creatures might be willing. What is the price?!”
But there was blue fire in those eyes. “His life.”

Brother’s Oath
Read on Ao3
“Gordy we need to talk.”
The seconds ticked by, and Scott straightened up and grabbed Gordon’s trembling hand.
“We have a job,” Scott admitted. “To Baltimore and back. Then more lined up after.”
“You’re leaving.” He shivered.
Scott nodded, regretfully. “We need the work. We can’t stay here without income while covering Doctor Hackenbacker’s services, the dock fees, the boarding fees.” Gordon’s breath hitched, and Scott squeezed his hand. “We’ll be fine, though. John did the math.”
“I can go with you,” Gordon whispered. “Virgil can take care of me on board.”
Scott closed his eyes, “Gordon, no.” His voice broke. How was Gordon supposed to heal aboard the sway of the ship? What if, God forbid, they encountered a storm, and he was pitched across the floorboards? “I can’t risk you.”
-From Hold Fast, Chapter 8 "Harbor"
_______________________________________
Standing upon a wooden pier, a man with sea-jewel eyes, tall and dark-haired, squared his shoulders and twisted his interlocked hands resting in the small of his back. Weight evenly distributed, the wood below the heel of his boots gave no protest, and in the stillness he scanned the harbor every inch a statue amidst the hustling movement of the dockhands, of which many were just youngsters. In the prime of his twenties, he outwardly looks every bit a leader; his stance resonates with his confidence of command, his presence a force on its own which speaks louder than even the golden shine of the epaulette along his right shoulder marking him as a merchant ship’s Captain.
Scott Tracy doesn’t feel the difference in age between him and the boys working the dock, though those musings he reserves for his heart. It wasn’t so long ago that he was their age, though climbing the ship’s shrouds towards the sky instead of racing along the dock.  At the same time, he feels the stretch of years between them heavily and starkly, the responsibility that came from being eldest of five and the sudden addition of being abandoned, possibly orphaned, leading a ship’s company, his brothers and brothers in arms, into the unknown. The weight of his decisions he bears on his shoulders, for which his mark of command gives him authority, but does little to assist with the burden.
His gaze is severe and unwavering as he stares out towards ships in the harbor, and yet not focusing on them at all, but rather something beyond, something only visible to those that have challenged the horizon. He’s chosen a spot beneath a southern palmetto away from the central activity of the dockworkers, the fisherman and the sailors coming to port. The fronds give him ample shade from the heat of the sun, and they sway above him with the cooling breeze off the sea. Though, it’s not strong enough to flutter the edges of his coat, the signifying garment as static as the man who endures it, and he appears utterly unapproachable, untouchable, in his moments with the horizon.
 Except to one.
The second man is broad to Scott’s tall, his features similar but different with strong cheekbones to replace the dimples in Scott’s smile, the cleft in his chin more prominent, the color of his hair deeper. Unfazed by his Captain’s manner, he spares no thought to the square of Scott’s shoulders and skips the pleasantries. It’s only with a slight tilt of the Captain’s head towards the sound of the wood thundering around his boots that Virgil knows Scott has registered his presence at all.
“When were you going to tell me?”  It lashes at him, and he turns to his brother then to see Virgil’s arms crossed, the brown of his eyes alight and reddened around the edges. “When were you going to tell him? After everything!”
“I told him when he needed to know.”
 “I don’t believe that. You’ve devastated him.”
“You’ve seen him? He was asleep when I left.” He’d wept himself into exhaustion.
“Well he woke up asking for you,” Virgil tells him. “I had to send John in to assure him you hadn’t left yet.”
Scott tightens the grip at his back, as if by sheer strength he could expel the burning where his fingers still freshly carry his brother’s tears. He pulls himself to look away from the ferocity in Virgil’s eyes, back toward where the clouds hang low in the blue.
“Do not mistake duty for cruelty, Virgil.” He speaks his words carefully and intently, absorbing every spark of his brother’s anger into his heart. “This decision was not made lightly. We told you once affairs were in order. Once we were certain.”
Once there were no more excuses to keep them held back, once they all agreed it was for the best to leave. Him and John and Alan. Virgil would have been a part of it too had his attention not been solely focused on their younger brother’s recovery, and rightfully so. The finances had been an obstacle Scott and John agreed they could keep off of Virgil’s plate until he needed to know. It just so happened that once he needed to know, he really needed to know.
It was a reluctant John’s idea first, though for his sake, Scott swore he’d take that knowledge into whichever sea would become his grave. John brought it to his attention and Scott made the call. It was as simple as that. Meanwhile, Alan had been the hardest to sway; he’d never known differently than having all four of his older brothers aboard the Thunderbird.
To him, hiring hands had been its own betrayal.
In the end they had to let Alan see the numbers for himself. Scott respected that and appreciated that his brother had the good sense not to take anything at face value. Over a long day of pouring over the logs and John’s projections and losses, Alan finally ceded. He was vocal about his displeasure though; he didn’t trust leaving his brother to the fates of the world of land.
In truth, Scott didn’t either. Not completely.
So when he says “once we were certain” what he means is that it had taken him two days and three nights with his quarters locked from the inside, one bottle of fine scotch and two of John’s wine, and more candied pralines than he had the right to have stashed in his cabin for him to tear away at his heart and come to terms with the fact that his brother had a small chance to heal upon land and no chance at all upon the sea.
That he had to make the right decision for his family, for their father’s legacy, for the ship and her crew, and for Gordon all at once.
That Gordon, who felt the pull of the tides even stronger than Scott himself, might forever be tied to shore.  And Scott wouldn’t know for sure, nor would he be able to do anything about it even if he did.
That he might have to learn how to bear being aboard the ship without him.
That the best thing he could do for him was to leave him.
He awoke to the bottles shattered in pieces on the floor of his cabin after those nights. And when it was all said and done, he steeled himself, wiped the red away from his eyes. He became Captain, and he walked to Willshire’s purposefully to close out the room he couldn’t handle using because Gordon was down the hall and it wasn’t fair to carry the chaos in his mind so close.
Virgil knows none of this, so he scoffs, the hurt still apparent in his stance and blaze of his expression. But Virgil does know Scott, and there’s a moment in the silence as the scoff cuts off where he can feel it still resonating in his brother’s bones.
 “Scott?”
“Did you know,” he says, his voice heavy and slow, “that I made a promise to him. I promised him we wouldn’t leave each other. Not until one of us was sewing the other’s hammock.” They were fourteen and twenty, and without a Captain, without half of the crew because they needed their wages not to go on a wild goose chase looking for the late Captain Jeff Tracy under an under-qualified leader. In the wake of their father’s disappearance, it was Gordon who first swore allegiance to Scott’s captaincy, with the brotherhood and loyalty of brown eyes that idolized his older sibling.
Virgil pales, no doubt remembering the most recent sewing of a hammock aboard their ship, seeing alongside it the lifeless face of their brother. It’s the same thing he’s been seeing since the events that nearly took Gordon’s life. Scott almost regrets saying it as soon as he glances at the look of pain that crosses Virgil’s face. Almost.
“So don’t treat me like this was easy. You didn’t need to make this decision. I did.” For the first time, Scott flings his hands back out of their hold, and stabs himself in the chest with his forefinger. “I know I’m responsible, so you don’t need to remind me.”
“I’m not saying it was easy,” Virgil argues. “I’m saying maybe it would’ve been a little easier had you just told us what you were thinking. You owe it to him when it affects him like this.”
“I told him today.”
“With no discussion. When it was already decided.”
“Precisely.”
“He didn’t even get a say.”
“Virgil, precisely.” And there’s something in the way that he says it the second time, with his brother’s name attached; it causes his lip to tremble, the words to stutter.  “I-”
He couldn’t have done it, he’s trying to say. He would’ve talked himself out of it ten times over if the conversation he had with Gordon a few hours ago had happened before he’d squared away with the dockmaster and the boarding house and secured people who were relying on them for transport and purchased perishable wares for trade. There is a part of him still working through how many people he’d disappoint if they were to stay.
“Oh.”
And because it’s Virgil, his first mate, his brother, beside him always instead he says, “I hate this. Tell me honestly, what do you think his chances are of walking again? Of sailing?”
He needs to know. There’s so much that he doesn’t know about what’s going to happen next that he needs just this one thing from Virgil. But it’s a truth Virgil can’t give yet himself. He hums, his lips pursed, and he runs his hand through messy hair. Gordon has only just barely started standing, with assistance. Time will tell.
He tells him so. “We’ll know more by the time you return at Christmas.”
“Christmas then,” Scott nods. It’s a promise.
Virgil’s anger has long since vanished into hurt, his jaw clenches and he too stares out to sea. “When does she depart?”
“In two days. You’ll be staying?”
“Obviously,” Virgil says. “But I don’t know how to handle not being there for you.”
“Brother, the best thing you can do for me,” Scott says honestly, closing his eyes, “is to be there for him.”  Because if he has to break his oath to Gordon, there’s no other person to whom he would trust his brother than Virgil. For the delicate care of his health, but also the strengthening of his spirit and his light through the worst of the storms, it’ll be Virgil who gets him through this. Scott will do his part.
And maybe by Christmas…

I can imagine Raihan collecting them like pokemons, style:
This is my Piers, he is a dark type but don't worry, as long as you don't touch his kid/little sister everything will be fine, he likes music and being alone in dark places, so if you see him in an isolated corner don't bother him.
This is my Gordie, rock type, he shares territory with his mother, please don't touch his glasses or bother him, I don't know what will be the worst that can happen to you, that his mother grabs you or that Brie grabs you.
The one who tries to find the door from the patio is my Leon, he is the strongest but the sweetest, just like my Piers, do not touch his little brother, I am not responsible for what happens, if he is lost for a long time, do not worry Brie will bring him back.
And this here is my Brie, be careful she's a bit territorial, she can see in the dark so if you hear something at night it must be her playing with other pokemon, she's a fairy type but you have to be careful she's the most protective, both of adults as the smallest.
I don't know how it would be with Sonia, something like "this is Sonia, Leon's partner" and I even arrived.
fhwjkdhgkjfg vYEHA THAT'S PRETTY MUCH IT
Sonia got dragged into this polycule, kicking and screaming, and is disappointed in herself because she feels like her standards dropped.
effectively:
Tumblr media
(source: X and Y Adventures, by Artist Black who has done Black Adventures and has otherwise shaped my entire being towards Pokemon humor and shenanigans since 2010, when Black and White had only just released in Japan - it's intended for mature audiences in a "references Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt" kind of way - you'll know it when you see it :V)
Anyways rip to Sonia. She had some semblance of "normalcy" when she and Nessa dated briefly, but it didn't last long since the two realized they were better off as friends (not to mention, Nessa's lingering mess of a rivalry/crush on Milo is VERY distracting lmaoo)
Raihan's Pokedex, except it's the Polydex, and it's just random snaps of his polycule doing cute stuff and/or wacky shenanigans.
Like Brie punching out Dante NOW THAT SHE HAS GOTTEN STRONK ENOUGH TO FIGHT PAPA!!!
Gordie posing in front of the mirror to check out how his new accessories go with his uniform. He is very stylish and cute. He is embarrassed about being caught tho lmao
Piers passing out on the couch, with Leon draping a blanket over him before promptly getting lost by going outside, down a straight path.
Leon brushing out the leaves and tangles in Brie's hair after she dragged his ass out of the woods he got lost in by straying from the path (which, may I mention, WAS A STRAIGHT LINE)
And then there's Piers and Brie trading uniforms, with Leon trying to do the same with Gordie, but Gordie refuses to let ANYONE near his clothes. He's a very picky boy.
And of course, you have the final pic that Raihan treasures dearly (and later updates to include Sonia), with him taking a selfie with the polycule while they sleep on a pile of pillows. It gives him the fuzzies when he looks at it.
(obviously, he's shared this photo with Gordie's mom, and she just so happy that her son is popular, even though they often bump heads because of ice and rock, but shhhh, don't tell Gordie)

We’re brothers now
“I don’t care Sam” Bucky said, placing a wet cloth over his shivering partner, “we’re brothers now, this is what we do”
Or - Sam and Bucky are on a mission when Sam comes down with a fever and Bucky takes care of him, and Sam whinges about being a grown ass man.
Set after the events of Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Nothing could ever be simple nowadays. This was meant to be a simple recon mission. In and out they said. No more than 48 hours they said.
Well it was now hour 49 and Bucky was still sat in a dodgy motel. Sam was sprawled out on the bed, blanket cocooning him whilst he shivered violently. They were meant to have left a few hours ago, but when Bucky woke up to his partner delirious from fever and coughing like a 90 year old asthmatic life long smoker he knew they weren’t going anywhere that day, except may the hospital if the said fever doesn’t break soon.
Bucky sighed for the hundredth time that morning as he got up to soak the towel in cold water again, returning to the bedside to carefully run the cooling towel over Sam’s sweat soaked brow and neck. Reaching for the thermometer again he checked his partners temperature, the same way he’s been doing every 30 minute for the last 4 hours.
103.8 - shit.
He knew he had to go and get something to bring Sam’s fever down, but he didn’t want to risk Sam waking up alone. Last time he woke up he had no idea where he was, who Bucky was, or what they were doing in a dingy motel together. It took Bucky nearly 45 minutes of batting of Sam’s feeble attempts to fight him and calm explanation for Sam to get with it enough to know who he was and that he was safe. And when that realisation occurred he’d simply collapsed into Bucky’s arms, his body finally feeling secure enough to pass out. That was 2 hours ago, when his fever was only 102.5, so God knows what he’d be like when he came round this time.
Glancing at the clock, it was now 9am. The motel staff would be around now, and Bucky decided the risk was worth the benefit. He slowly and quietly stood up and slid out of the door, glancing back to his still sleeping partners, before heading down to the main desk. A young woman sat there, no more than 24. She eyed him up and down, the usual mix of intrigue and wariness.
“Can I help you?”
“Yes ma’m. Where’s the nearest shop that should stock something for a fever?” Bucky asked, smiling politely and making himself look as non threatening as possible.
“Well that would be at Gordy’s corner shop, but I have some on me here if you’d like? Save you the trip. We can here your... fellow roommate coughing from down the hallway. He sounds like he needs it.”
She hands him a packet of pills, which he accepts gratefully, his smile now genuine.
“Thank you,” he looks at her name tag, “Isabella.”
He walks back to the room, by the end of the corridor he can hear Sam hacking up a lung. He sped up a little, and as he entered the room he was surprised to find that Sam wasn’t in bed. Shutting the door behind him he looked around for the location of the hacking, and his eyes landed on Sam, crouched in the corner of the room, gun aimed straight at Bucky’s head. Fuck, he should have removed the ammunition the minute Sam showed signs of delirium.
Bucky slowly raised his hands in the air in surrender, trying to make himself as small and un-threatening as possible when you’re a massive, muscular, super soldier with a less than inconspicuous metal arm.
“Sam.”
“Who are you? Where am I?”
“Sam, it’s Bucky.” He said, trying to make eye contact with Sam, who was now attempting to stand. As he wobbled dangerously Bucky took a step towards him. Wrong move. Sam trained the gun so the aim was directly between his eyes.
“Where am I?” Sam repeated, his voice breaking as he fights back a cough.
“In a motel. In Chicago. With me, Bucky. We’ve just finished a mission and we were going to leave earlier this morning but you’re sick.”
Sam looked at him with fever glasses eyes, the cogs in his head turning as he tried to follow what was being said.
“Buck?” He asked after a moment, lowering the gun.
“Yeah bud, it’s me.” He replied, stepping across the room and removing the gun from Sam’s hand, emptying the bullets into a dresser draw.
Bucky placed his hands on Sam’s shoulders, guiding him back to the bed.
“Back to bed with you Cap, you need to take these pills then go back to sleep.”
Sitting Sam on the edge of the bed he passed him the glass of water from the bedside table, and pulled the pills out of his pocket, popping two into Sam’s outstretched shaking hand. He downed them in one before collapsing into the bed. Bucky lay the blanket over him, just about refraining from tucking him in like a child.
Sam was asleep almost instantly, worn out from his little half arsed assassination attempt on Bucky. Bucky moved the desk chair back across the room and placed it beside Sam’s bed, taking up the position he’d sat in ever since Sam’s temp had gotten me over 103. He opened his phone and put his headphones in one ear, and continued watching the YouTube videos that Steve kept sending him now he had so much free time, being retired and all.
No more than half an hour later, Sam started coughing. There was no ease into it, he was suddenly spluttering and hacking. He tried to push himself upright but he was coughing too hard. Bucky grabbed his arm and pulled him into the sitting position, keeping his grip on him to stop Sam simply falling over. With his metal arm he gently rubbed circles on Sam’s back, hoping to both reassure and ground the newly titled Captain America. He didn’t fancy another delirious attempted murder scenario. It took a few minutes but Sam was able to take some ragged breaths without coughing. He looked to Bucky weekly.
“You know who I am?” He asked.
Sam have a weak smile, “the pain in my ass that won’t go away?” He rasped, his attempt at humour squashed by another round of coughing.
Bucky handed him the cup of water, which Sam sipped gratefully before flopping back down onto the pillows. Bucky took this as a chance to grab the thermometer and shove it in his ear, earning a feeble glare from Sam.
“101.8, well that’s better. Not great, but better.” Bucky said.
Sam hummed a response, already falling back to sleep. Bucky used this as his chance to cool his partner down further. He went to the bathroom and wet the towel with fresh cold water, before returning to his bedside vigil. He wiped the sweat off of Sam’s brow and neck again.
“Buck I’m a grown ass man.”
“You’re sick.”
“You don’t have to do this, I’m not dying, I’m just sick.”
“I want to help. And I’m not 100% sure on the not dying thing yet you know, best to have someone keeping an eye on you.”
Sam groaned, “ Please just leave me be, this’ll be super embarrassing when I’m with it again.”
“I don’t care Sam” Bucky said, placing a wet cloth over his shivering partner, “we’re brothers now, this is what we do”
Sam huffed a little, but it was completely void of true indignity, as the cooling of the towel pushed him back into sleep.
Bucky sighed, picking his phone up once again. Maybe no was the time to investigate the ebook app he’d downloaded, as it seemed like they wouldn’t be going anywhere for a while.

His Best
There’s more than one way to feel tired.
Some Gordon and Virgil hurt/comfort produced as a result of needing an outlet but also not having a cooperative muse.
“‘M tired, Virg.”
He knew his brother didn’t mean in the literal sense, didn’t really need the comfort of the next best thing after a blanket, but it didn’t stop him from shucking his shirt off and draping it across Gordon’s shoulders.
His brother’s never admitted it, but he knew they were all jealous of his shirts.
Even Gordon, who normally protested more than most.
Taking a seat in the sand next to his brother, he wrapped his arm around his broad swimmers frame. Gordon didn’t say anything as his head tilted to rest against his shoulder, hands tugging the material of his shirt close around him. Virgil let him sit, knowing without hearing the report that it must have been bad if he had come down to the cove to swim rather than sticking to the pool.
He wished he had been there, but a factory fire in England had demanded his attention, leaving Gordon to launch from the Island on his own.
The rescue hadn’t gone well.
Virgil wasn’t sure if it was something his presence would have helped, from what he had gathered from John’s description he doubted it. He still wished though that he had been there to pick his brother up, to assure him earlier that he had done everything he could have. Instead he had been forced to wait to catch up with him, time the younger had obviously spent dwelling on.
“I stand by what we do.” Gordon murmured softly, “We do good, right V?
“Yeah,” He murmured, fingers reaching up to card gently through damp blond hair, “We do our best Gordy, that’s all we can do.”
“My best wasn’t good enough.”
The comment was soft, barely making it out between lips that didn’t want to allow the admission. It was a feeling Virgil knew well, one that tightened his chest in both fear and anger. All of them tried so hard, were all so determined and sure, yet the world still preferred to throw more impossible odds at them and focus on the negatives.
“I’m tired of giving everything, what do we actually get back from it?”
He sighed heavily as he pulled Gordon ever closer, squeezing his shoulders tight. There was an answer, but he knew it wasn’t what his brother wanted to hear. Somedays, just the knowledge they did the right thing simply wasn’t enough.
The light breeze tousled their hair as Virgil focussed on the water lapping gently at the sand. It was peaceful in the cove, sheltered from the harsh waves that broke out across the rest of the island’s shores. He was glad that Gordon had chosen the cove over the other beach closer to the villa. He didn’t want to think about what might have happened if his brother had chosen to take out his frustrations in the rougher water.
Gordon was a strong swimmer, but mother nature was stronger.
Except, out of anyone, it was Gordon that stood the best chance of outsmarting the tide.
“We beat the odds.” tilting his head back to look to the darkening sky, “We prove the science, the naysayers, and Eos wrong. It’s not much, and I know it doesn’t always feel very satisfying, but we still do.”
Gordon didn’t respond. Virgil knew he had answered the question, but also knew it wouldn’t placate him. As much as he wished they did, Virgil knew that sometimes words didn’t fix everything. Disappointment would still weigh heavy on Gordon’ shoulders, most likely until a successful rescue pushed out the pain.
Until that happened, Virgil would sit, listen to the soft rush of the waves and the rustling of the trees, and remind his brother that he had done all he could.
He had done his best.

Right in the Numbers - Chapter 5

Summary: Bobby and Don have a heart to heart
Words: 2449
-
AO3
or
Practices are awful.
Sure, Don is able to make it through with a false smile, his plays are still decent, but he feels the tension on the ice.
Bobby watches him, their usual silent conversations now muddled and hazy. Don doesn’t stare like he used to, turns away when Bobby takes a beat too long.
Don avoids him when he can outside of practice too. In fact, it’s been a couple weeks since they last slept together.
He finds excuses to stay away, tries to focus on hockey. The sport has gotten him through the darkest of times, maybe it’ll work its magic yet again.
Of course, observant as ever, Joe has picked up on Don’s grief and brings it up of all times when they’re stuck in the penalty box together.
“What’s happened between you and Moch?”
“Joe,” Don chews around his mouth guard. “Not here.”
“Then when? None of us have seen you off the ice. And from what I’ve heard, neither has Bobby. You two don’t even sit next to each other on the buses anymore.”
There is a chorus of cheers as the other team scores a goal and Don can just hear Bobby’s heated swearing rising over the arena.
“It’s nothing,” Don finds renewed interest in his stick. “We’re just doing our own thing.”
“Yeah, okay,” Joe rolls his eyes. “I haven’t seen Bobby like this since—,” he cuts himself off, turns away.
Joe let something slip, but now Don can’t just leave it at that.
“What are you talking about?”
“Oops, my time is up. See you on the ice,” Joe scrambles out of the penalty box.
“Rantz!” Don shouts after him over the din.
This gets him a raised brow from Gordy as he skates by and Don’s throat already feels sore from raising his voice like that. When he’s on the ice again, Don can’t focus. Joe’s words toy with him, dangle some cruel temptation that Don should ignore, but he just can’t. He gets slammed into the boards, numb to the pain, ignorant of anything, anyone else. This fire only burns and Don misses his shot again and again.
They lose this game. The team trudges off the ice, barely acknowledging one another. Maybe it’s not all Don’s fault but he still feels like he’s to blame.
The small talk is low and murmuring in the locker room and Don sticks to himself, showers and changes as quickly as he can so he can talk to Joe.
Except Joe is nowhere to be found. And Don doesn’t see a single sign of Bobby either. He’s left spinning circles in the locker room, aimless and wandering, until he bumps into Roger.
“Something up?” Roger asks, unperturbed by Don’s sudden approach.
Don’s face flushes and he shakes his head. “Wanted to talk to Joe about something.”
“More like someone,” Chuck edges in.
Don grimaces as the rest of the team stares at him, the room caught in a deafening silence. A headache is starting to form at the back of his mind and Don leaves without so much as a wave. The hallway is just as quiet, unsettling and lonely, as if the mirage will break at any second.
That is, until two voices drift from around a corner. Don comes to a standstill, his breath caught in his chest.
“—still think you should tell him,” Joe mutters.
“Yeah? And what good would that do?” Bobby bites back. “I don’t need another sympathy card.”
“Moch, it’s not sympathy,” Joe sighs. “What happened with your—our last team…it hurt you. They hurt you.”
Don’s stomach drops. He’s so afraid of what will follow, knows he should leave but he’s frozen in a steel trap. He’s anxious to hear more.
“Save it, Rantz,” Bobby snaps. “It’s better this way. I don’t need him, hell, I don’t need any of you.”
Bobby’s footsteps echo but Don realizes too late that they’re heading in his direction. The moment Bobby rounds the corner, they’re caught in the same wide-eye stare.
“Don,” Bobby starts but Don doesn’t want to hear it.
He marches past Bobby, past Joe, who calls after him. Their voices are too loud, the fluorescent lights are too bright. Don all but runs to his car, speeds away from the arena and to the safety of his apartment.
His phone gets tossed to the side before he collapses onto his bed. Bobby’s words play on repeat and Don feels his heart slash in two. The tears don’t come though, instead replaced by an anger that consumes Don. After everything, after all this, he’s nothing but a plaything for Bobby.
He gets to his feet and paces his bedroom, cursing to himself with fists clenched. He could make Bobby hurt, make him see what he’s done. But as he thinks this, Don shames himself. Bobby has been through something awful. He’s taking it out on the world and Don can’t blame him.
He and Bobby were good together. They’re supposed to be best friends. Even with this pain, Don doesn’t want Bobby to suffer again. He can’t do that to the man he loves.
Falling back onto his bed, Don stares at the ceiling. The dissipating anger morphs into longing and a need to hold Bobby, to tell him everything’s going to be alright.
With a huff, Don checks his phone and guilty relief washes over him when he doesn’t see any missed calls or texts. Tonight he can think things through, sort out the mess with Bobby tomorrow.
Midnight edges in and Don is laying in bed, scrolling through his phone in an attempt to feel some semblance of sleep. A text from Bobby pops up and Don replies before he can stop himself.
It’s so casual, their hellos, the small talk, Don almost wonders if he imagined what happened after the game.
Come outside. Bobby then texts cryptically.
Don frowns, turns towards his window. He can’t see anything beyond the trees and gets out of bed with a small groan. Looking down, Don sees Bobby standing next to his car, phone in his hand.
He should just crawl back into bed, forget all this, but they need to talk.
Throwing on sweats and a hoodie, Don heads out of his apartment, meets Bobby at the front door.
“Want to go on an adventure?” Bobby smiles.
“Alright.”
Don climbs into the passenger seat and the two drive off in silence. Sparing a glance at Bobby, Don notes the clenched jaw, how his eyes shine with what Don can imagine to be sadness.
They head down a desolate road, the headlights cutting through dark woods, when Don finally notices the sky.
Shimmers of green dance across deep indigo, splashing the night with paint strokes of beauty. He’s mesmerized, caught in a moment so rare and delicate, he only hopes it will last.
Bobby pulls off into an open lot that breaks out into a sprawling field and gets out of the car to sit on the hood. Don is slow to follow but he slides next to Bobby as they look up at the sky.
The borealis makes Don feel so small, so insignificant, and it’s comforting. There’s nothing more expected out of him than to just take in this moment with Bobby.
“Do you ever think about what our lives would be like if we hadn’t met?” Bobby doesn’t take his eyes off the sky as he asks this.
Don inhales, his hands wringing in his lap. He doesn’t know how to answer. The seconds tick by, but Don’s voice is caught, held down by fear, desperation.
“I’m glad,” Bobby breathes, “if anything. You’ve made me feel like I’m worth something, you know?”
He gives Don a small smile which he easily returns. Bobby’s eyes on him steal Don’s breath and he can only look back, his words screaming, trying to claw their way out.
“I think maybe it’s good if we end things here,” Bobby says the words that stab Don in the chest. “Just be friends. No more sex. Nothing more.”
Don nods, even though he doesn’t agree at all. His wounds and his pride fight within him, but he stays silent.
“If you still want to watch my channel though, I don’t mind.”
“Thanks,” Don finally speaks.
He curses his inexplicable cowardice, his overageeable attitude. He should just grab Bobby and shake something, anything, loose. He wants the truth. Instead, Don settles into the unfamiliarity of their new normal.
In the end, Bobby is right. They were edging into something real and Don doesn’t want to be the cause of pain that must be all too familiar to Bobby. At the very least, the friendship isn’t over. They’ll always have each other’s backs.
That’s more than enough.
Still, Don doesn’t push Bobby away when he shuffles closer. His arm falls easily around him and Don doesn’t say a thing when Bobby lays his head on his shoulder.
When Bobby drops Don off, neither say goodbye and Don heads right into his apartment. He’s exhausted now, his head throbbing, body aching.
As Don lays down, his screen lights up with another text.
I’m sorry.
Shutting off his phone, Don squeezes his eyes shut and buries his face in his pillow.
Sleep doesn’t come easily tonight or many nights after. Don is a walking zombie when they get to the semi-finals, yet somehow he manages to score the goal that secures their spot in the top eight.
He accepts the embrace Bobby gives him, tries not to hug too tight. The smile Bobby gives him is somber and the light in his eyes isn’t as bright these days. Don doesn’t know how to bring him back. He’s not sure he can.
Don just wants time alone, to figure out his life from here, but tonight, he’s dragged out to the bar with the team. He keeps it to one drink and water, not wanting to lose control when Bobby is so close.
Bobby, however, is not so sensible. He takes every shot offered to him, orders strong drinks that would make Don sick in an instant. So, of course, he’s helping Bobby back to the hotel, their arms linked, one hand gripped tight to Bobby’s sleeve.
“Why’re you so good at hockey?” Bobby slurs as they stumble down the street.
“Practice.”
“No, like,” Bobby waves. “Not everyone can play and they still make the leagues.”
“I don’t know,” Don laughs a little.
It’s hard not to be amused by Bobby’s drunken ramblings. He’s gone on hours long tirades from why they deserve to win the Cup to the ridiculous price of chicken nuggets. Don has listened enraptured, if only because he doesn’t know how Bobby always has so much to say.
Bobby keeps on talking from the lobby to the elevator and finally, his room. They haven’t been roommates for a while now and Bobby has snagged one all to himself.
Don sits Bobby down on the bed, helps him take off his hoodie and shoes.
“Stay with me, Donny,” Bobby reaches out for him.
Don’s shoulders sag. Bobby is still so affectionate and he makes it difficult to move on from what they were.
“Bobby, you should rest,” Don steps out of reach.
He goes to the bathroom to fill up a glass of water, then rummages through Bobby’s bag to grab some pain medicine.
When he gets back to Bobby, he’s managed to rid himself of his shirt and jeans and he lays on his stomach, limbs haphazardly thrown about on the bed.
Setting the cure-alls to the side, Don sits Bobby up, then presses the pill into one hand and the water into the other.
“Take this and drink the whole glass.”
Bobby grimaces at him but does what he’s told. Water dribbles down his chin and he wipes it away with an uncoordinated hand. There’s still water on his face though and Don’s fingers twitch at his sides.
With a small sigh, Don takes the glass from Bobby, waits for him to lay back down before he sets to leave. Bobby grabs him by the hem of his shirt and Don’s heart thuds in his chest.
“Please? I don’t want to be alone.”
Don should refuse. He needs to get out before he misinterprets what Drunk Bobby might be saying between the lines.
Instead, against his better judgment, Don takes off his outer layers and crawls into bed next to Bobby. Bobby immediately drapes himself over Don, lets out a small contented sigh.
This feels too nice, too warm, and Don fights back his tears. He hugs Bobby close, the healing scars on his heart tearing open yet again.
Don doesn’t know how he falls asleep but when the sun forces his eyes open, he finds himself alone in the hotel bed. He can hear the shower running and he lays back, staring at the ceiling.
He’s been doing so well. He’s pulled himself back, but then Bobby drags him in. It’s some kind of cruel twist of fate that he’s stuck in this loop.
“Morning,” Bobby says as he comes out of the bathroom.
He’s drying his hair with a towel that gets tossed to the side before he digs through his bags. All he has is the towel around his waist now and Don aches to reach out.
“Thanks for taking care of me,” Bobby smiles as he grabs his clothes. “I have a bit of a headache, but that glass of water probably saved me.”
The corner of Don’s mouth twitches and he simply watches as Bobby disappears into the bathroom. At least he doesn’t have to watch Bobby change this one time. Taking his moment alone, Don dresses in last night's clothes and tries to smooth out the wrinkles.
Just before he can leave however, Bobby pops out again, freezing Don in his tracks. He shouldn’t feel guilty. He has to get back to his own room and shower after all.
Bobby opens and closes his mouth, his stare darting, distracted. Don waits, not sure what he wants to hear.
“Mind if I sit next to you on the bus?”
Don blinks. It’s been lonely not having Bobby jabber in his ear, making him play hangman and tic-tac-toe. Bobby falling asleep against his shoulder.
When Don nods, Bobby’s face finally relaxes into a familiar grin and Don’s spirit lifts. They wave goodbye as Don finds his opening to head back to his room, a heavy breath leaving him.
Some things are finally headed back to normal and Don can’t be more grateful. There’s still some heartache to work though, but he can handle it.
He’ll be fine.

Pokemon Dynamorph AU Masterpost
Based on THIS POST
The short of this AU is that the climax of the Eternatus fight had an even more profound effect on the Galar region and its people. The excess energy made people fuse with their pokemon! Oh boy! So below the cut I’m going to outline all the ideas behind this AU thanks to everyone’s asks showing an increasing curiosity about all this! I’m used to writing original content, nothing based on an existing property so bare with me…
Tumblr media
Events Leading Up to The Dynamorph Event
So for this AU, the events of the game leading up to the Eternatus conflict are the SAME except for some details.
Gloria/Victor and Hop never encounter Zacian or Zamazenta. The Rusty Sword and Shield were lost to time.
When Leon goes to confront Eternatus, he is joined by everyone up on the roof. The Gloria/ Victor, Hop, Bede, Marnie, the Gym Leaders (minus Opal because she’s back in Ballonlea enjoying retirement.)
This confrontation happens AFTER Gloria/ Victor beats Leon, for simplicity’s sake.
So when everyone confronts Eternatus, thanks to Rose’s eager impatience to do good for the Galar region, they are unable to stop it properly since Zacian and Zamazenta are nowhere to be found. Instead, the combined efforts of everyone force Eternatus to flee.
But not without releasing an overwhelming blast of Dynamax energy.
The blast rippled throughout a portion of Galar, and had a chain reaction with power spots and the dens of the Wild Area. When the dust settled, the pokemon everyone had out that they were using in the big fight were...gone. Not in their pokeball, just..gone. Naturally, people assume the worst but they have a lingering feeling that the Pokemon are still...here somehow. But they don’t know why. So when everyone’s calmed down, and clean up begins, they all go their separate ways.
About a day passes, and then it starts to happen. From the time of the blast and when the changes start to happen externally, everyone experiences some oddities superficially (better hearing, acute sensitivity to stuff etc.)
Leon was in his newly acquired office and the just obtained Battle Tower. He had the blind closed, sat in the darkened room thinking over everything that happened, and his loss of the Champion title. When the changes started happening, he nearly burned the office, leaving claw marks in his desk, the floor, and the walls. The noise attracted someone from the Battle Tower staff and he yelled at them in panic to call Sonia. His own phone started ringing. It was Hop.
Gloria/ Victor (I separate them cuz it's more of a ‘who you imagine in this role.’ Can only have one Champion) were being briefed on Champion duties and what that entails. It’s a boring meeting, but they excuse themself to go to the bathroom. In reality they duck away outside to just get a breather. They suddenly feel a sharp pain and start to change, probably biting into their arm to muffle any scream to prevent causing a scene.
Bede headed back to Ballonlea, distraught that Hatterine was nowhere to be found. He wanted to distract himself by continuing his gym leader training, but Opal sat him down for some tea to talk about grief and loss. She’s way older and definitely has experience in that field. What she doesn’t have experience in, is what to do when your protege starts growing traits of a pokemon…
Hop, after that whole ordeal, missing Dubwool, and having lost the gym challenge just had so many feelings to vent out, he wanted to just scream. So he heads deep into the Slumbering Weald to just scream out his frustrations. When he sits down after tiring himself out, his changes start happening. In pain, scared, and alone, he calls Leon.
Marnie went back to Spikemuth with Piers. Team Yell welcomed them with open arms and gave them the idea to have a tribute concert for the pokemon they believe they lost. Marnie declined, electing to stay at home and be alone for a while. She didn’t want to be around people right now. Then her changes started happening, and she uncontrollably let out a burst of electricity, causing an outage in Spikemuth.
Piers, meanwhile, was setting up for an impromptu concert. He dealt with his feelings by doing literally anything to distract him from them so yelling into a microphone for a couple hours seemed like a good idea. Just as he was about to test the mic, a huge power surge came from his place and shut down all of Spikemuth’s power. Concerned for his sister he runs off stage, taking alleys as a shortcut. In his adrenaline he doesn’t even realize his changes started until he tripped over his own new claws and writhes just outside their place.
Raihan, being in Hammerlocke, wastes no time in helping with the clean up. While at the highest point in the city, he and his gym trainers were hard at work. Until Raihan collapsed, trying to hold himself up with his broom. His trainers looked on in concern and horror as he began changing, even starting up a sandstorm in the process. As a result, one trainer almost gets pushed off the roof but, bearing through the pain, Raihan leaps in and grabs them in time.
Gordie and Melony head back to Circhester. On the way, they had talked a lot about their issues and gripes that had torn a rift in their family, in earnest. The assumed loss of their pokemon worked as good common ground to remind them about the importance of family. They were both at Melony’s home when it happened. The heat and cold put a completely new kind of barrier between the two.
Bea wanted to get her mind off everything that happened by training in the outskirts of Stow-on-Side. She pushed herself too far, and her pokemon urged her to stop. But she fought them off. At first with difficulty, but then as her changes happened, more easily. Her pokemon backed off and started looking for help.
Alister, figuring that his Gengar maybe wandered off on its own again, headed to the graveyard during the night. One of Gengar’s favourite spots. For a moment, Alister thought he heard Gengar’s chuckle and it’s cry but turned to see nothing. Something compelled him to look down at himself and he could see himself becoming translucent and a suspicious shade of purple. He had always had an affinity with ghosts but becoming one was something else entirely. Ensue panic attack.
Kabu returned home to quietly meditate and think rationally about everything that happened. In a trance-like state, he could feel Centiskorch right there next to him. He felt at peace. The smell of burning snapped him out of it, however when he realized he, as well as a good part of the room, was on fire. He quickly escaped, realizing the fire didn’t hurt him.
Nessa just wanted to be alone, so back at Hulberry, she walked along the docks, shrouded in early morning fog. Her changes started happening, but she really only felt itchy as the scales came in. Upon checking her phone, did she herself in the screen’s reflection and freak out.
Life moves on and Milo had a farm to tend to. His family urged him to take a break but he smiled back at them and assured them he was okay. He wasn’t. While working was when his changes happened. His whole family rushed to his aid. And again, through a smile, he insisted he was okay.
Oleana was working feverishly on getting money together for lawyers and bail money to get Rose out of his self-imposed jail sentence. She knew all he wanted was good for the region, but he was just too blind to see the potential damage he was causing. She wanted him to have a second chance. But her changes slowed her down.
Rose, in a cell, reflected on his actions. How rash he was that he didn’t see the big picture. He should’ve listened. When his changes happened in his cell, he was horrified. Not at what happened to him, but what was no doubt, happening to the others. And probably more. What had he done? He needed to fix his mistake.
The ones present at the event were not the only ones to change, however. This was happening all over the region, closer to power spots (which includes the towns, but the morphs aren’t all as drastic) and the wild area (trainers fused with wild pokemon and went hostile. This is covered in depth in another section). After one of the quickest trials, Rose had offered to the court that instead of a full prison sentence, he spent his entire resources and wealth into funding on solving this new, now coined ‘Dynamorph Crisis.’ They agreed and the Macro Cosmos got to work.
How the Dynamorph Actually Works
Bare with me because this is where I kind of bend canon and make assumptions about things for the sake of explaining how this AU even works. So. Eternatus caused all this by basically converting things into energy. On humans, it would just tear them apart. On pokemon it would just turn them into dynamax energy temporarily. The normal situation is that dynamaxing makes the pokemon grow and change form, yeah? Well for this AU, the pokemon, seeing that their trainers are potentially going to die, decide to fuse with them to ‘fill in the gaps.’ Saving them. At first, it appears like they were able to change into the parts missing, but after a while, the pokemon traits start showing, which is my excuse for why the actual changes were delayed.
The severity of the dynamorph is dependent on proximity to the blast/ powerspot. And just personal preference if you wanted to make your own trainersona dynamorphed (which I totally encourage! It’s fun and I like seeing what you all come up with!!).
Dynamorphed trainers gain the physical traits, special abilities, movesets and odd quirks that come with the pokemon they are dynamorphed with. (Bonding with Morpeko makes you hungry, bonding with a Xatu lets you see the future, etc) Though, since the humanity is still there, they are able to curb some of the more aggressive quirks with diligence.
If the pokemon bonded is not fully evolved, applying the correct evolutionary method will evolve and change the outward appearance of the dynamorphed trainer. Normal level up are accomplished by fighting, not by age.
Since being part pokemon, the trainer is a lot more resilient and could, if they REALLY wanted to, fight other morphed trainers. Trainers feel the type weakness and resistances. They would faint just like a pokemon fight. Potions and pokemon centres would help them recover. Though death is still something that can happen.
Trainers fused with food-like pokemon are not edible please don't eat them, there's a place where the food stops and the flesh starts and we don’t need to find out where that is ok??
Normal pokemon that are caught and trained will REFUSE to attack a dynamorphed trainer unless absolutely provoked. So you can’t really have a pokemon battle where a dynamoprhed trainer is beating up a pokemon or vice versa. That’s messed up.
Dynamorphed trainers cannot be caught in any kind of pokeballs. That’s also messed up.
They cannot breed to make a weird hybrid plz stop asking.
Dynamorphed Trainers can NOT be Dynamaxed. Too much energy, man.
Trainers CAN bond with more than one pokemon, but that's where complications start to occur. The more pokemon bonded to the trainer, the harder it is form them to hold on to their humanity.
1 Pokemon = Okay
2 Pokemon = A struggle to keep humanity, but it’s possible.
3+ Pokemon = This is not a person. It is a hostile beast.
There are no legendary pokemon/ ultra beasts dynamorphed. They’re all in other regions and wouldn’t be in the Galar region when it happened so there just wouldn’t be. But if ya’ll make one with one anyway, I won’t stop you but the legendary pokemon may be too strong for a trainer to handle.
If the pokemon’s nature is different than the trainer’s than it might affect their personality. The extent of this is varied.
**No two dynamorphs look the same! If you have two trainers bonded with like...a Pikachu for example. One might get yellow fur, ears, and a tail while the other only gets a tail and the cheeks. Go nuts.
If the pokemon dynamorphed with the trainer is the opposite gender, the result is whatever you want.
Speaking of complications, that brings us to the next part…
The Wild Area Trainers
During this whole event, I previously mentioned that the Wild Area was significantly affected. Those unfortunate enough to be out camping during the blast had the chance of 1 of 3 things happening:
They dynamorphed with one of their pokemon.
They dynamorphed with with more than one of their pokemon
They dynamorphed with one or more wild pokemon Examples found HERE.
In the case of being bonded to a wild pokemon, this takes a heavy toll on the trainer’s mind as its constantly fighting with a wild pokemon. This causes them to lose their minds and become hostile, just like a wild pokemon. Unfortunately a large number of “Wild Trainers” roam the Wild Area. Their previously caught pokemon usually try to flee or stick around to protect their trainer out of sheer devotion. As mentioned before, they cannot be caught with a pokeball. But the region is working on a program to deal with this. …
How the Galar Region is dealing with the Dynamorph Crisis
Professors Sonia and Magnolia are appointed the top researchers, being granted the resources of the Macro Cosmos thanks to Oleana and Rose, wanting to atone for his mistakes. However the government, doubting Rose’s competence, sends out their own officials to oversee and make decisions. (I have no idea how the government of this region works. Is there a parliament? Is the gym league the authority? I’ll say for this AU there is actually a system of government…).
They have labs and rehabilitation centres set up to be able to study and help help dynamorphed trainers cope and eventually go back home. They are not kept there against their will. Most, anyway. The main cast were quarantined in a lab/ facility for the early stages of the crisis so they could learn/ test their capabilities in a safe environment. Shenanigans ensue. Because of this, the crisis put a hold on the gym challenge league entirely.
At first, the authorities wanted to keep this under wraps in case their morphs were an isolated incident but quickly realized that was going to be impossible. Travel to and from the Galar region became incredibly restricted. Dynamorphed trainers are not allowed to leave the region, for everyone’s safety (don’t want to risk an outburst that could harm anyone :c ), but unchanged people were free to travel once they were confirmed as ‘human’ by a mandatory test.
The Wild Area became a huge problem, what with Wild Trainers running about. Defenses were set up just in case to prevent Wild Trainers from wandering into populated areas and causing havoc, though a few occurrences still happen, what with flying pokemon and all. Eventually, a special force was assembled that consisted of consenting dynamorphed trainers that were tasked with going into the Wild Area and subduing and retrieving Wild Trainers to bring them to a more secured location to help study them and to try and find a cure. And to confirm to families the fate of their missing family member(s). The attempt is to be as humane as possible.
The special force (Do I really wanna call it Dynaforce? I feel like I’m abusing the prefix if I do), consists of all the current gym leaders, Piers, Leon, Victor/ Gloria and a bunch of other trainers who signed up who are 18+. (you don't want to send kids out doing this kind of dangerous work, I know pokemon is all about children taming powerful animals but you gotta draw the line in the sand somewhere. Gym leaders are exempt because they why not. They insisted and already proved their strength to the region. It’s an AU based off a fuckin game/ anime.) This force has two jobs:
Go into the Wild Area to subdue Wild Trainers and bring them home
Protect the towns in case any wild trainers get in.
So what happened to Eternatus if it just escaped? Theories indicate it might be living in a massive den in the heart of the Wild Area, waiting to strike again. There are a lot more Wild Trainers near this area, so excursions here are difficult.
Is a cure eventually found? Honestly this is just an AU so that's up to you. My personal answer is no. Improvise. Adapt. Overcome. //Bear Grylls voice
So….this is a lot. This is just some silly AU that inspired me to expand on it for fun since you guys showed a lot of interest! I’ll edit this as I get more asks about things I may have missed, but I will be going in and deleting a lot of previous asks so I can clean up my blog a bit. I had WANTED to keep a lot of this ‘secret’ cuz I wanted to draw stuff for it. I STILL WILL DRAW for it, but realistically I don’t have the time or energy ahah. Especially for an AU of a published franchise aha.
If you want to make a dynamorph trainersona, totally go for it! Just tag me when its done! I love seeing what people do!
