8, 4 and your choice for the book ask game? (Only if you want!)
8. what is the first book you remember reading yourself? uhh. this is embarrassing but I think it was this kid's version of david and goliath (I grew up in a super religious family lol). I remember I read it to my preschool class when I was like. 3. and I pronounced goliath "golatha" because I was 3 and couldn't say my i's well.
4. what sections of a bookstore do you browse? history, philosophy, politics, and occasionally fiction or poetry.
12. did you enjoy any compulsory high school readings? I actually liked a bunch of them. a thousand splendid suns was great, julius caesar was great, animal farm was great (even though the allegory was a little trite), farenheit 451 wasn't bad, things fall apart had some really good substance, and the hate u give was incredible (even though the teacher I had who taught it was racist af which kind of ruined the experience a bit). basically I liked almost every compulsory high school book with the exception of 1984. of mice and men was like. good. but steinbeck your ableism is showing (and the teacher, who was the same racist teacher I mentioned earlier was ALSO ableist- who would've guessed?)

Books To Avoid With ADHD (Pt. 1)
If you have ADD but you enjoy reading, this is the account for you. I review books and usually only write about the ones that I suggest, however this is a post about books that I don’t recommend. This is just my opinion, and yours may differ. I would love to talk about any of these mentioned!
Harry Potter *
- I know I’m going to get some hate for this...but I never finished the Harry Potter series. I got to the second book before getting bored. I think J.K. Rowling has written an amazing world, however it’s missing a few things. There’s not much diversity, if any. And in my opinion, her writing just isn’t that good. I don’t really like her word choices and just don’t personally enjoy the way she writes. This is just my opinion. However, like I said, she has created a very intricate and creative world, and I will forever be impressed by the amount of time and effort she has put into her writing.
Percy Jackson
- I’ve read all of them. Except for, I think, the newest series. The reason I finished most of the series was because my friend was reading them, and I wanted to know what she was talking about. I did enjoy The Lost Hero series, but I did get bored at times with those too. However, if you really enjoy Greek mythology, then you’ll probably like it. I loved the first book, and I loved The Lost Hero series, but I frequently got bored and put them down for long periods of time. I would recommend The Lightning Thief, if nothing else.
The Catcher In The Rye
- though it is a classic, it was terribly boring, and could have been summed up in a few pages, if that. It’s about a boy who is constantly miserable and only complains. It’s slow-moving, and when it does get exciting, it’s short-lived. However, some of it is well-written, and there are some amazing quotes that have come from it.
Farenheit 451
- this is on this list just because it was quite slow in a few spots. I did enjoy the story, more or less, but I wish it was more fast paced. I think I’d recommend this one the most out of all of the other classics on this list.
The Confederacy of Dunces
- do not read this book if you want a quick read that’ll keep you on your toes. I lost this book for a few months, so the total time it took me to read this was 1-6 months. I never take that long to read books, but honestly I didn’t even care. It’s boring. The language is boring. It’s funny in a few spots, but it easily passes over your head if you’re bored. Would not recommend.
The Scarlet Letter *
- I’m still giving this one the benefit of the doubt, because I haven’t finished it. I’ve barely started it, but I already am bored. I can’t really understand what’s happening because I can’t even pay attention. I will update once I have finished it, if I finish it.
(TWO MONTHS LATER UPDATE) : no I couldn’t finish it. I split it into three parts. The first part I spark noted, I actually read the middle, and then I used audible for the ending. It continued to stay boring, it never really picked up. The idea is there. Sparknotes was good. However, I just personally could not get into it. I did somewhat enjoy the middle, which is rarely said. But the rest just couldn’t keep me hooked.
The One and Only Ivan
- I know a lot of people enjoy this book, but I could never get into it. I couldn’t pay attention, and was restless. I just wished that it would move a little faster.
You may have different experiences, so don’t throw these away. This is just my experience, so if you think you’d enjoy the book/series, go for it! :)
* - unfinished

Here's a list of blatantly mysoginistic books that pretty much every teenager has to read
These are all classic pieces of literature I had to read in high school that weren't just "well it was just the TIME" sexist. No, they go above and beyond. And it's never talked about in school. No one ever says "actually, that behaviour it's not okay and here's why". We just skate over it and praise the characters and often even praise the misogyny. So I needed to at least call attention to this bullshit.
• Catcher in the Rye - He treats all women except for Phoebe like shit and talks about them like they're all objects. There is explicit misogyny and sexist rants and shit. And everyone justifies it as "how teenage boys think" which may be true, but which is h still disgusting.
• 1984 - literally just goes into like paragraphs about why he hates women, basically saying that they're vapid robots who can't think for themselves. The only main female character is actually mostly a symbol for sex.
• The Odyssey - he leaves for 20 years and expects her to be faithful but he cheats so many fucking times like come ON dude. And yet in English classes he is hailed as a flawless hero. I get that that was the time but it's literally just justified over and over again.
• Farenheit 451 - He, again, views women as vapid and mindless. Oh and he hits his wife and he just completely justifies it like it's pretty much implied that he was in the right??? Like it low-key justifies domestic abuse.
Anyway, obviously these books are artistically important and if you like them (I personally didn't cause I could not ignore the misogyny) that's perfectly okay! But nobody really calls them out on their problematic bullshit so that's what I'm doing. Cause I'm sick of reading books in school that demean women and having them and their misogyny PRAISED time and time again.
Add more if you feel like it!
