And i am amusing myself by imagining that what finally gets obi-wan out of being elected is when people find out he slept with his handsome young campaign manager...or perhaps that's just obi-wan's wishful thinking and really their relationship just endears him to the public more because they're so adorable together.

ok but lol what if it actually comes out that they’re sleeping together years later when anakin is 24 and obi-wan is running for governor (still completely by accident) and anakins had a relationship with Padmé and broken up with her and obi-wan and anakin are sleeping together but it’s casual and there’s still a big age difference but anakins out of college now at least, like, he’s a solid adult

and it comes out that they’re together (but they’re only sort of together) and obi-wan gets asked about it and he dithers for a bit before saying like I’m not SLEEPING with my campaign manager I’m in love with him thank you very much

and obviously the crowd goes wild and anakin backstage goes wilder but then the interviewer is like “but our sources say he’s been working on your campaigns since he was barely legal” (solidly 19) “what would you say to those voters who may be concerned of the inappropriateness of your age gap?”

and obi-wan is like I would never sleep with a 19 year old

and the interviewer pulls up a picture of anakin at 19 canvassing for obi-wan and she’s like “he was very attractive”

and obi-wan is like “yes but in the photo you can’t hear him speak. he was very pretty back then but one word out of his mouth and you could just tell that he was a 19 year old boy who hadn’t washed his bedsheets in 8 months.”

ok well that one's going straight on the favorites list for sure. absolute masterpiece. one of the most genuinely unsettling horror movies I've ever seen, and I've seen a LOT. It's all the slow descent into madness that the Shining movie wanted to be, the acting never missed a fucking beat (this is the guy's FIRST LEAD ROLE and goddamn did he command every second he was on screen), played super well on the 70s talk show on-air/off-air setting, then throw in some Cronenberg-style practical effects and I could not look away

#late night with the devil #this is one of those where you just know everyone working on the film has just this incredible appreciation for what they do #i mean everything down to the little bit of camera fuzz and the fact that he refers to the lights as par cans. every detail #and i mean it's already super clear that david dastmalchian is a big horror guy but he SHINES in this. really in his element #i mean it's the natural talk show host charisma. the slowly building grief and anxiety as it goes on. and then when it all falls apart #just. goddamn. definitely a new fave. my other favorite horror films are ex machina and the fly for reference #and this is all the unsettling atmosphere of ex machina plus all the grotesque visceral effects of the fly

One of my absolute favorite “cliche” tropes is amnesia fics where reader has been dating character for years, but they forget and then they can only remember dating their ex. So it’s like they go back to the ex because it’s all they’ve ever known, and their current love has to cope with seeing the love of their life in the arms of another guy.

I could read that trope a million times over and never get bored or think it’s too repetitive.

#bonus points with him trying to help you remember but not wanting to like scare you or freak you out???#and even better for like Sanemi when there’s no phones or cameras to show text messages???#or photographs #and he REGRETS not writing you letters so badly then sigh #or like Bakugou not giving up but like caring about your welfare so much that he just kinda watches you with your ex?#cause he’s seen you in the hospital for weeks/months and knows how shit it’s been for you? how sad and lonely you’ve been #and he missed seeing you happy— even if this time it’s at the hands of another man #but he subtly leaves you gifts like your favourite flowers???#like maybe it sparks something inside you? because you tell everyone your favourite flowers are roses #but you find fresh tulips on your bedside table each morning after he visits? and it like grabs at something at the back of your mind???#or he brings you coffee and he’s somehow the only one that gets it right??? but it’s something you’d never order?#like you ask for oat milk but he brings it with coconut milk and it just tastes better? and you’re like I didn’t even know I liked this???#and your ex is just like ‘she likes oat milk’ like MATE NO WE DO NOT #I WILL EAT THIS UP WITH A SPOON AND WOLF IT DOWN YOU HAVE NO IDEA
