Tell me about land of the stories
FUCK OKAU SO- (also read the tags :33)
theres these twins - Alex and Connor, their dad used to own a bookshop but then he died close to their birthday i think? Its been a while since ive last read the wishing spell which is a but sad. Their mums a nurse but obviously they dont get paid enough (still true now aswell !!) so they had to move into a smaller house. They have a grandmother too she’s important. OKAY SO ALEX - She’s like your smart kid who nobody likes because shes smart which is lowkey kinda sad i love her shes also canonically autistic because i said so btw. ANYWAYS uhm when she was younger her dad would be the one who told her stories to cheer her ip when she was bullied he was really sweet i love mr bailey. She likes fairy tales too brw and is also the type to get excited over encyclopaedias im just waffling but you get the jist
CONNER !! - He is on the opposite hes ig the “funny type” in class theyre in like sixth grade i think? Falls asleep in class yknow that kinda guy hes really sweet tho because despite that he’s sort of always thinking about the people around him that he loves like in An authors odyssey (fifth book i believe) when they travel into his short stories you see how hes got multiple characters based off of his mum and then you see him being happy for Alex whenever she’s genuinely happy its sweet honestly uhm this could be more comprehensible sorry its 1;19 rn
OKAY SO THE WISHING SPELL (book 1)
soo on their twelfth of thirteenth i cant remember birthday their grandma gives them an old fairy tale book, very sentimental the book was always read to the twins as kids when they visited their grandma its lime a happy place. ANYWAYS uhm alex accidentally falls into the book because its actually a MAGIC book and they land in the middle of a ROAD *dun dun DUNNN* in the woods they see a wanted sign for goldilocks i think or that happens later on in the book then they meet a GIANT FROG who they call Froggy i live him btw hence the name @froggysstar of my dead tlos blog. And they ask him if theres anyway homehe tells them about a journal he once found and they follow the journal essentially to find a way home. It tells them about the wishing spell which is made up of the “main objects” of ur famous fairytales because did i mention that theyre in the FAIRY TALE WORLD now. But the main characters of these fairytales are like royalty so that is NOT an easy task. The evil queen from sbow white is there she has a really interesting backstory. Thats like an overview theres more that happens theres six books and there is SO much more to the wishing spell i could talk about but my arms hirt so that is for ANOTHER DAY !!
also its getting too long if i said anything thay is actually INCORRECT please correct me

Alright folks it’s OC time welcome back it’s been ten thousand years
Welcome to Tellius, where healing isn’t free and everyone hates you!
Alright, it’s been entire months but I finally have motivation to actually write more about my ocs. Specifically, my OCs for Pokemon Empire, a game that defines itself by extensive reworks of moves, abilities, and pokemon, as well as through the complex ethical dilemmas and real-world themes the game’s story attempts to engage with. I don’t think the game always handles these real-world issues with the most tact, but I find the comprehensive gameplay overhaul incredibly interesting and I’m mostly following the story out of morbid curiosity about what the viewpoints of the characters say about the viewpoints of the creators.
Unfortunately, all these “complex dilemmas” require just a little explaining.
The primary conflict in Empire is between the Council, which took power in a revolution against Mad King Tobias some years ago, and Team Royale, an underground resistance led by Tobias’ widow, the former queen. To summarize them briefly:
Council: Expand business, increase profits, increase regulation, refers to official trainers as “Tellius League Operatives” (TLOs) and treats them as a police/military force. Publicly espouses ideals of progress, unity, and prosperity, but condones mad science and police brutality behind closed doors. The reason Pokecenters cost money.
Royale: Get the Secret Heir on the throne and a crown on his head by basically any means necessary. “Restore Tradition” and everything it implies. Pays lip service towards respecting and protecting the people, but views them as “necessary sacrifices” if it comes down to it. The reason a lot of people are dead.
Basically, both of these sides are awful!
While the game isn’t finished yet, the devs have indicated that the finished game will have three different endings—one Council, one Royale, and one labeled “Self-Rule” it’s unclear whether the devs mean that in an anarchist way or a libertarian way, and frankly that mystery is half the reason I keep playing this game!
So, due to the way that all three routes are range from “morally ambiguous” to “ghoulishly evil” my ocs for this game are generally a bunch of assholes. Also, I’ve decided they all coexist in the same timeline (and all went to school together), despite the issues this causes for canon, because then I can make two of them be as divorced as two unmarried young women can possibly be.
Unfortunately if I tried to do actual OC pages here it would take ages, due to using strategies/mons unique to Empire
To summarize once again:
Jeanne: Self-Rule. “What if Jeanne D’Arc was an anarchist?” Named after Jalter specifically. Primarily, uses specially offensive Poison, Fire, and Dark types to abuse the Empire-exclusive Smog weather type. Always tries to do the right thing, but somehow that just keeps turning everyone against her, so she’s slowly but steadily turning into a bitter, cynical asshole. No real naming scheme. Signature mons include Skuntank, Zangoose, and Magmortar.
Taylor: Council. “What if Junko Enoshima was a cop?” Named after Taylor “Skitter” Hebert from Worm to represent her ruthlessness, and Taylor Swift to represent Capitalism, Baybee! Primarily uses Steel, Electric, and Fighting types, and focuses on using Critical Hits, especially with the new feature of electric-terrain boosting crit chance and the Sadist ability (yeah) guaranteeing crits on enemies with most kinds of status. Says only what people want to hear, but she’ll do whatever it takes to gain power and fame under the council. Manages to have even more wrong with her than any other character in this paragraph. Signature mons include Flaminquent (new Fairy/Steel physical sweeper), Seviper, and Electivire.
Alexandria: Royale. “What if Indiana Jones was a monarchist” Named after the library, and also Alexander the giant robotcastle from Final Fantasy. An archaeologist who became a little too into history, and now wants to repeat it. She’s all about time, and so she uses a Sand/Trick Room team featuring mostly Steel, Rock, and Psychic types. Some of her signature mons are Claydol (one of the 9 starters, and one of the few sources of TR in the current episode), Caracoldron (Magcargo evo, features in the lore), and Escavalier.
The sharp-eyed among you will notice two of these characters use pokemon in matched pairs! They can’t stand each other.
Basically Jeanne and Taylor used to be friends (maybe…even more…), but when they fled the country during the first Royale uprising, Jeanne went off and read some funny books about capital, and she comes back to the region with high hopes to challenge the system and make life better…but Taylor, who kind of has her whole sense of self-worth and morality tied up in being this ideal champion/idol/celeb/cop for the council, just doesn’t feel the same.
Somedays they’re catty and petty, calling each other out for using each other’s types or stats. Somedays they just do their best to avoid each other. Somedays they come really, really, close to…something. Whether it’s kissing or killing is hard to say.
Even so, neither of them is really close with Alex. More than anyone, it seems these days she’s just a totally different person than the cheerful history nerd they know from school.
Ok, now that the introductions are out of the way, I’ll be introducing these girls and their full strats/mons/relationships in their own pages, but I wanted to provide a little context before I went in-depth. Plus I haven’t played Empire in a while so I needed to reignite the brainrot a little so I could really say what I wanted.

Redemption Arcs in Tlos
Okay, but Chris Colfer actually nailed redemption arcs. It's not a "they didn't do anything wrong". They did, they have their trauma and reasons, and the only thing to help them improve is a second chance, most notably with the Evil Queen and Evil Stepmother. These redemptions are saved only for those genuinely feel terrible about their mistakes, and who work to improve going forward. Forgiveness was also covered really well in these two characters and relationships.
Snow White & Evly: Snow White chooses to forgive her stepmother. She learns more about Evly’s past, and makes the decision to forgive her. I think that this is something Snow White needed to do for closure, as in the prologue of book 1, these loose ends in her life are haunting her, and for her, freeing Evly and letting her finish her story is the way to move on.
Cinderella & Lady Iris: this one’s different, because it’s not about forgiving, it’s about second chances. By the end of book 2, Cinderella has very much moved on in her life, and grown past her relationship with her stepmother. Lady Iris, on the other hand, has not, and is unable to do in the Charming Kingdom, where her mistakes and behavior are public knowledge and judged by everyone around. So, when given the chance, she makes the decision to start over with her daughters in a new world, and Cinderella is happy that both of them are able to go their separate ways on better paths.
I don’t always like the way redemption arcs are done, because a lot of the time it’s a quick “forgive and forget”, but I think this series is filled with a lot of really rich arcs, and these are just two examples of how I would love to see more villains redeemed.

2017 CC Year in Review
In 2017, CC attended the same event 4 times. Previously they had not been publicly recorded at the same event since the end of Glee.  They were:
Women’s March marked the first time in 22 months that CC publicly attended the same event.  They may not have interacted, attended with their PR plus ones, but this was huge:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Take note of the God Save the Queer Shirt. This turns out to be a theme.  He wears this 3 out of 4 times he attends an event where C is present.
Adam Lambert & Queen- Tweet placing them at the after party and actually interacting!!!!
Tumblr media
And again D wears the God Save the Queer Shirt
Tumblr media
Spirit Day where they both took RC photos (though not together) and wore matching outfits (D of course in the God Save the Queer Shirt)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MM’s Halloween Party- as painful as that night was, it cannot be overlooked that C was present on that evening (clearly D did not wear the shirt as costumes).
So as not to clog up your dash, rest under Keep Reading- please feel free to add, I know I missed a ton!
TLOS6
In my opinion, this book is a love letter to Darren.
Let’s start with the dedication which arguably may or may not be about D, but I lean heavily that the last two lines are directly directly at him.  And the Peter Pan theme was quite prevalent this year with them both, D had a song called Lost Boys Life, the book.  Here is a post I did about the connections (x)
Tumblr media
And the cover, with Froggy Still in the mirror strapped by Morina
Tumblr media
And of course all of the story lines including the perfect resolution of Froggy and Red and the fitting end of Morina. (x)
The Evil Queen and Redemption (x)
Morina referred to as the Goat (x)
Memory Loss (x)
Tinhatters (x)
Mention of Morality Clauses (x)
And this amazing quote that speaks for itself:
"Only idiots listen with their eyes" she said. "if people don't hear your words, that shout them. If people silence you, then write your message with fire. Demanding respect is never easy but if something you love is at stake, then i'd say it's worth the price".
TBT on February 23 when both were clearly feeling nostalgic:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
STFF
This was my post written months before this book was released and references the Kraken, a word Chris uses in the book (even though he allegedly hates Klaine) (x)
Sunshine Studios and deliberate play on words and alluding to Sunshine Sachs
Truth Shaming and Celebrities Lying (x)
Morality Clauses
Cash Carter
Let’s not forget how the year started, a Reflection in Sun Glasses
Denial of AVPM
I know for a fact this was not a planned question. He was caught by surprise and instead of answering truthfully, Chris got flustered and denied seeing AVPM when it has been documented countless times that not only has he seen it, he was a huge fanboy.
That time when Chris was asked if he kept in touch with D and he said “Kind of Sort of”
The Promo Interview right before TLOS was released on the Social
If it’s on social media, you’re not happenin’. I try to keep my personal life personal, and not mix the two. It’s hard to do, but I try.
A Doll’s House Part 2
A show chris saw when promoting TLOS and that months later we discover Darren saw as well yet not one photo or tweet placing him there unlike the myriad of other shows he sees where there are copious pics and accounts. Both loved it.
Tumblr media
Chris and his CC scarf and Kurt Jacket in London
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Darren’s Pre-Birthday tweet that speaks volumes
Tumblr media
This was followed by Chris’ Epic Snap Chat, Don’t you wish your bunny was cute like me that can be found here (x)
And there was the time Darren waited over a week to respond to a tweet, a tweet posted on May 27.  It should be noted he chose his tweet to respond of the likely thousands he was tagged in as i was right after the selfie and the CG show. Further, he replied right after Chris posted his Peru pic where he claims to have spent his birthday.
Tumblr media
I Don’t Mind
The song used to promote his EP, that is no question a love song to C, only song once thus far, and how it has not been played live in 2017, even though it has been on two playlists, for his June CG show and at his EP release show (where he made a big to do about not playing it).
Tumblr media
Remember that Variety Article, an Exclusive About Indigo that originally contained this quote:
Colfer’s news comes a day after his former on-screen love interest Darren Criss reunited with Murphy with a starring role on season three of anthology American Crime Story.
So mysterious how it was edited out almost immediately.
The TLOS Movie News and the change of ACS to Season 2 being announced on the same day
And those IG posts of D that were almost mirror images of Chris pics from years earlier
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Darren repeatedly forgetting how much he hates Chris and singing Glee songs, most notably Hopelessly Devoted several Times.
youtube
The Day the Dance is Over
The video from the first time we heard this beautiful and incredibe love song about a dedicated love full of obstacles (and every version since as continued to amaze)
youtube
And Critical to Remember, 2017, the year both C&D made a deal with Fox. This is going to majorly contribute to 2018

So, @itza322 and I went to Chris’ book event in Houston. What a gem. I’ve been to a few of his signings, but never got to see him do anything like this. I twas so worth the six hour drive. Lol He was sweet and funny and thankfully, there weren’t any awkward Klaine questions. Here’s what we can remember from last night!! See Maritza’s pictures here!
Under a read more because this got long. I transcribed his answers from my audio, so they are are exact quotes. Enjoy!
First thing he said is he feels like home because her grew up in Clovis, which he always says is the Texas of California. Nerd.
The school was on Merrill Street and while driving from the airport, he kept hearing the GPS say “You are now ten minutes away from Meryl Streep.” and his reaction was “What is she doing at the event!” It was adorable.
He “learned the hard way that the readers know more about the series than I do.”, so he gives people the chance to quiz him on the books.
He did a reading from TLOS6 World’s Collide. It was a great little excerpt. I could listen to him read all day long.
He had to step backstage for a minute for something and he said “It was Hillary” on the phone. He said that. In Texas. I looked at Martiza and said “Did he just say that in Texas?” and I saw Alla mouthing “Texas?” too. Lmao
He did trivia, where he asked questions about the books and all the kids were adorable who answered and they got TLOS hats for answering.
He then took questions from the audience to test his knowledge on the series. The firs question was “When is the movie coming out?” “It wasn’t exactly the kind of question I was hoping for.” He said the questions stumped him, so she got a hat. Lol But his real answer was the more the readership grows and the books sells the studio will want to get it going.
Next question was “What does Conner say to Annie?” Chris said he doesn’t remember an Annie so he doesn’t know the answer and gave the kid a hat.
He had everyone in costume come up on stage, there were a few great costumes! One girl was dressed like the Galaxy queen and it was fantastic. She got runner up. There was a woman dressed dressed as Mother Goose and her daughter was her flask. (@itza322 posted pics here) It was perfect and Chris was completely in love with it. They won, naturally.
The first girl who went up on stage, when asked what her costume was said “NOthing, I just wanted to come up on stage.” Totally stumped Chris for a minute. There was another little boy that was dressed like “An innocent bystander from NY” Lol
Moving on to audience q&a. While waiting for the first question, he said “That would be really cool if the flask was full” Lol
The first person (she was 21 fyi, not a kid) asked if she could get a picture afterwards and Chris looked at Alla who just said no immediately. She then asked what his process was for writing. “I have less of a process and  more of a cry for help. I write at night because less people tend to bother me at night, that’s nice so I can focus. Um..I like to write in my spare bedroom that’s full of tacky nerd merchandise. That helps me be creative and I love listening to film scores while I write. That helps me inspire story more than anything.”
What inspired you to write about fairy tale characters? “When I was a kid, I loved fairy tales. My mom used to read fairy tales to me every night before I went to bed and I always had a million questions about all the characters and their motives. My mom finally got so tired of answering my questions she said “Christopher why don’t you just write your own fairytales?” And here we are!”
How did you get inspired to write your stories? “When I was about your age, I loved reading and I loved reading things like Harry Potter and books by [inaudible] I remember the last Harry Potter book emotionally scared me so much that I thought the only way I could fill the void was by emotionally scarring other people. So that’s why I like writing so much.”
What was your book inspiration? “Ooh good question. Really I think the Wizard of Oz was the biggest inspiration. If you look at the Land of Stories structure, it’s structured very simlar to Oz where they’re on a quest or they’re going through the parts of the world while the evil queen/wicked witch is the brooding in the foreground. So yeah, I’d say Wizard of Oz most.”
How is your favorite character and why? “Well I think my public answer is Conner. Well Conner and Alex. But I really Conner’s story in the series because he starts of as the kid who takes naps in class and by the end of the book he’s the kid you saves the world. So I think that’s a good story. But I do love Mother Goose because she’s such a bad influence. So yeah, I think those two are some of my favorites.”
What advice do you have for anyone who is looking to be a writer in the future? “I’d the best advice to give to aspiring writers is to not be intimidated by other writers. Because other writers get very, very competitive about writing. And some of the writers I got advice from are always very discouraging and say “just don’t do it.” And so I take it with a grain of salt. I think writer’s block is and I feel like as soon as you feel it coming on just get up and walk away from your computer or your pad or whatever. And I think the more you sit and fester the worse it’s gonna be. So as soon as you you feel it coming, just walk away and come back when you have an idea later.”
How do you get past your writer’s block? Besides walking away? “I listen to a lot of music. I think having other things in your life to focus on to kind of divert your attention is really good for that. But honestly I think that’s the only advice I can give is to not focus on the fact you have nothing to focus on. You know to throw some other things in there and to outside your house and walk around. Let the inspiration find you if you can’t find it.”
What made you think of making Conner the heir of telling stories and Alex the heir to magic? “Ooh good question. Um because their twins and that was wasn’t and idea I had until writing the second or third book. Um but I think because their twins they are single handedly responsible for continuing our story telling in our world and continuing magic in the other world. So it’s kind of a yin and yang situation.”
Do you still hate your grandmother for crumpling up your stories when they were bad? “Well it was very traumatic at the time. For people who don’t know, when I was a kid I tried writing stories when I was 7 or 8. It was very difficult because writing a novel was hard when you’re that young. I used to write down chapters, I’d take it to my grandma’s house and she’d grammar check it and spell check it and if she liked it, she’d keep it in a pile and if she didn’t like it, she’d crumple it up in front of me and throw it away. And I grew some character from that! But really she gave it to me honestly and I think that really helped me the most more than anything in the long run. So no, there’s no hard feelings. But she still gives me notes on the books. It’s a little annoying.”
What was your hardest book to write? “Probably the first one. Because up until the first book the longest thing I had ever written was an essay at school. And while I was writing the first book, I was also on a world tour with Glee so I had this crazy routine. I’d come in before the show, I’d go underneath the stage into the dressing rooms, I’d write a chapter, I’d go sing Don’t Stop Believing, come back I’d edit the chapter, I’d run out and sing I Wanna Hold Your Hand, come back, right some more, slap on a leotard and go do Single Ladies, come back. I did that for months and months and months and that’s the reason I am the way I am today.”
He then did the raffle for the meet and greets. He had a cute little girl come up and help him draw the tickets. He also had an additional winner because he drew a frog on a specific page of one book. Thought that was cute!
He then did a reading from Mother Goose Diaries. Again, it was an adorable snippet and I could listen to him read all day.
Overall, it was a great experience and I hope y’all enjoy this write up!

Chris Tidbits at YALLWest
Just finished listening to the interview...Loved Melissa De La Cruz and I really enjoyed the interview. Thought it was a good mix of writing questions, TLOS, Glee, and general...with not quite enough imho about STFF...
(FYI - I actually did not find there were too many questions about any one thing. Thought all the questions were respectful. Glee questions were sweet and reasonable and I enjoyed all his answers. He seemed cool with it all).
So from a Chris and Glee fan who is most interested in him as an actor and person and thinker...Here are some tidbits (ie you should watch for yourself with your own lens, but that’s mine...):
1. Chris says he’s a ravenclaw (huge cheers...Chris: They’re so easy to please).
2. In response to whom his fave character on Glee is other than Kurt - He loves Becky Jackson (huge cheers!) and Sue Sylvester.
3. Cute little girl’s voice asking,“Why don’t you sing anymore?’
4. When asked his favorite klaine duet- He likes the earlier stuff and then said Animal was a lot of fun BUT THEN (never before said and I TOTALLY agree so) - He says - “Oh! the one with the swords and the stunts” ie. Love Is A Battlefield (yes!!)
5. When asked his ideal part to play in any movie or show - He would love to play an evil king - King Louis the 14th, or Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors remake, or Meryl Streep’s son in anything.
6. what do you fanboy over besides HP? He has recently become obsessed with Ru Paul’s drag race...and “I love older women”.
7. Melissa chooses a girl with a klaine t-shirt who asked, “ Was the shoulder shimmy dance move him or Kurt?” Chris says was definitely acting. “No shoulder shimmy or finger wagging"in his own life.
8.  Was asked “You watch drag race, so if you were a drag queen, what would your name be?”   - He worked with Shangela on Glee and she gave me a name but I don’t remember - Chartreuse something.
9. Favorite villain in TLOS is the Enchantress - She is deliciously evil  and who wouldn’t want to put the souls of all their ex-boyfriends in jars? So mean.
10. The quote I posted about Glee and LGBT representation - “Glee was one of the very few shows that showed LBGT youth but gave them a soul - and didn’t just make them a cliche or a stereotype or a punching bag or as a punchline. I know my character sometimes was a sidekick or would get one episode, but they let me show his soul and I think when people actually see the soul of someone, not just the facade, it makes them understand. It makes them care.”
11. “You love animals, do you eat them or are you a vegan?” (this made me LOL - oh you’re caught Chris!) - Doesn’t eat any he has a relationship with. Thinks he should be reincarnated as every animal he eats. Likes the idea but loves food. Would like to be vegan one day.
12. He relates to all characters in stff equally - each represents something he went through. The scene where Cash gets them all stoned most fun to write.
13. He read an upsetting book review for stff - Reviewer said it had too much diversity. (lots of boos). Chris says just look around the room.
14. His highschool mascot was a cowboy - hated it.
