the thing about the mummy movies is that you really spend most of the time thinking "wow brendan fraser's character is so cool" or "man oded fehr is so mysterious and heroic" when the fact of the matter is that these two

are the absolute most batshit insane heroes in the entire franchise

these two are intellectual loner siblings with archeology backgrounds who read and speak ancient egyptian, hire a dude directly out of prison to take them to a lost city of gold, and fight mummies literally with their bare hands. twice.

no one in these movies stands a chance against the carnahans. frankly they're lethal in how willing they are to make the absolute and most undeniably deranged decisions. jonathan pickpockets a dude on fire. evy's resurrected from the dead and immediately remembers how to use sai. they're racking shotguns from a cliff in this scene and then proceed to blow away half the antagonists.

in all honesty, your can’t even remember what this argument was about, but in the moment, you cant seem to care all that much; you’re too wrapped up in the heat of it all.

the vitriol in your voice has him spinning back around to stalk towards him, a nasty scowl on his face as he all but herds you towards the wall, seething, “fuck me, huh? it’s fuck me now, ain’t it?”

you nod vigorously, refusing to back down, even if his much larger body had your cornered. he’s looking down at you, eyes searching your face as his jaw sets. he opens his mouth, snapping it shut before he says something he regrets. his eyes flit to your lips, then back up to your eyes.

a rough hand comes up to cup your jaw, testing the waters. your narrow your eyes, but don’t push him away. that’s all it takes for a thread to snap inside him. suddenly he’s all over you, pulling you into his arms and pressing hot kisses to your lips and neck.

“fuck me, yeah?” he sneers softly, tugging at your clothing, “hm baby? it’s fuck me, right?” his tongue dances on your throat, leaving unforgiving hickies for all the world to see.

“yes,” your sigh breathlessly, letting him turn you this way and that, “fuck you.”

ABOUT

Evie grew up knowing her family's place within The Syndicate and their ties to the Institute. She took pride in the fact that the Mendezes had a legacy worth upholding. Bright and capable, Evie's confidence took her far. She learned from an early age how to read people, thanks to her mother and father's knack for it, and when she graduated high school, she'd already decided that she'd go into the medical field.

The mind had always interested her and so psychiatry was the easiest decision she'd made. Deliberate and uncompromising in her pursuit, Evie completed her residency at 29 and was able to get a job at Asphodel shortly after.

It's not necessarily altruism that made her want the position, so much as a fascination with how supernaturals think differently – what makes them tick. In doing so, she ends up helping many, but it's hard to say if that's her main goal of working there, even if she is quite successful.

Her brother moving closer to home was a welcome changed, especially when things started going sideways at the start of 2024. With her brother's future in-laws missing, his engagement ended, and unease all around, Evie has done her best to stay rational.

Even with the discovery of the joint security venture between her family and Çelik witches, Evie doesn't think it's proof of involvement in the recent deaths or disappearances. So until any credible proof is brought forward, Evie has determined to continue helping her patients and further her understanding of the supernatural psyche.
