its a pretty simple premise that derives mostly from my desire to explore interpersonal relationships and the ways a place and people can change from a young child’s point of view. it doesn’t change canon that much either, admittedly, i just wanted to draw childhood friends stuff LOL. ill call it uhhhhhhhh every summer au.

Thinking about. Stanley Pines. Once summer, not long after Weirdmaggedon. Sitting in his seat, staring at the tv but realising slowly he's not really watching TV, he's listening.

Listening to Soos, taking a tour group around the Shack, his voice confident and happy, eagerly telling tourists all kinds of tall tales. Soos, with his young son strapped to his chest, held close and dear to his heart, always knowing he is loved and wanted by his father.

Listening to Wendy and Melody, laughter turning to deeper conversations in the gift shop as Wendy pours out her latest dating drama and Melody listens sympathetically--not quite a mother, but an older sister figure is all Wendy wants at the moment.

Listening to a distant boom coming from the basement, a cause for some concern that fades quickly as three peals of laughter follow soon after. One deep and familiar, as comforting and close as the sound of a ship's motor and the open sea. One young and high, cracking with adolescent awkwardness. One loud and cackling, a hint of madness never quite leaving it but more settled than it used to be. And Stan figures it's probably time to send someone down to drag Ford, Dipper and McGucket upstairs before they forget what light is and get too nerdy.

Besides it's nearly dinner time, and he's listening to Mabel's steady, unrelenting chatter in the kitchen, punctuated by a few grunts of acknowledgment from Abuelita as they prepare a meal.

And Stan feels a strange, unusual sensation wash over him, something he hasn't felt for over half a lifetime, by a boat on a beach. A sensation of contentment, of security, of peace. And he realises that if he stood up and walked into any one of the rooms in the Shack he would be greeted with smiles and faces lighting up to see him and cheerful cries of his name.

And he looks down at the darned pig sleeping beside his chair and things, with oddly misty eyes, that he spent thirty years trying to find his brother again. And he succeeded--but somehow, he got more than that. He had formed around him, without even realising it, a family.

Red Hood stalking Tim Drake as Robin era but Titans Tower never happens.

Red Hood's watching from the shadows as Batman grills into Robin Tim about something he did. Robin Tim just nods along and says he'll be better and fix it with a faux guilty face on.

This pisses Jason off because of course Bruce chose a better listener and someone who wants to actually suck up to him and fix his mistakes. This rage makes him want to shoot him once he gets back to his house, but instead he gains respect for him.

Why?

When Tim gets back to Drake manor in his regular clothes, which is a whole lotta emo shit which gives Jason whiplash because -woah wtf. I thought this kid was a nepo baby?-, he throws his bag from school on the ground and starts just throwing shit in his room and screaming out curses.

"Fuck you Batman. "Do better Robin" "Bats don't do that Robin" "Blah blah blah""

"Look at me Im Batman. I can prance around in dark black clothing dressed as a furry punching people because it's morally acceptable to let your child soldier run around in neon traffic lights"

While all this is happening, Red Hood is watching from a branch of a tree outside his room recording(for blackmail) and staring in awe and new found respect for the Robin he used to hate.

Instead, the next time this kid is in trouble is when he makes his grand appearance to the bats and Dick is coming from Bludhaven to help.

So, when Dick and Bruce are panicking over getting Robin back from that week's villain of the week, Robin is already chilling eating Batburger on a rooftop in Crime Alley watching as Red Hood gives orders.

You know those AU's where the Batfam finds or learns about either hidden or thought to be dead Al Ghul Danny! with a deaged/daughter Dani (Ellie) (I should know, I created a few of those storylines) but what if, now hear me out, what if instead of them finding Danny first its Talia.

Do I want Talia discovering her thought to be dead son to be alive? Yes. Do I want her to find him while investigating Amity Park when the League gets reports of 'Lazarus creatures/water'? Yes.

DO I WANT HER TO KNOCK ON THE FENTON'S DOOR, fully ready to pretend/honey talk her way into the house to uncover what the Fenton's know, ONLY TO MEET A LITTLE ELLIE?!

Ellie whose eyes and hair look like a copy of her Beloved but she can see bits and pieces of herself as well. Talia knows the child in front of her was not fully her's though but everything makes sense when she hears a voice, a voice she hasn't heard in ages but as a mother just knows, speak out.
