I certainly wasn't but now that *you* have I definitely want to see my magical posse happen. Give me Kara as the earth princess, who senses the natural world in distress and sets out to make it right. Give me Alex as the spirit of fire, volatile when stoked but otherwise as warm and steady as a hearth fire. She is the first Kara meets, and gladly joins the princess on her journey.Give me Nia as air, who catches wind of their quest and blows into their travels with a gust of laughter and delight. They all hear the call, and they follow it north.These three already know each other, have met on occasion and understand each other's burdens. But they believe themselves without a fourth, as the spirit of water hasn't been seen in ages. Even so, as they near the borders of the hostile kingdom of Luthor, something changes in the eerie four-note call that beckons them on.Someone calls back.

They follow the new voice into the Luthor kingdom, and there they find a princess locked away in a tower prison, shunned and cursed for the ice that flows in her veins. 

They find their sister of water in Lena, the bastard daughter of the king. When they are as close they dare, they sing towards Lena, and Nia's breeze carries their voices high into the window of Lena's cell. The stones vibrate with Kara's greeting, and the dying embers flare to life in the small hearth despite the lack of fuel.No longer alone, Lena finds the strength to break free. Ice floods the cracks between the stones, and with beat of Lena's heart the blocks explode outwards, rending the cell walls to pieces. She flees her prison and runs straight into the arms of the sisters she never knew she had. Through them, she learns the stories she was never told-- that they were agents of balance, not monsters like her father and brother had always claimed. Lena unlearns her fear of her power, which soon grow exponentially as she embraces her abilities, loves them and her friends and finally finds the place where she's supposed to be.But her elation dies in her chest when the mysterious call leads them to a realm cloaked in mist, and the avatar of water within: Sam, a woman warm and nurturing, bubbling with life. Hers is the voice they've be hearing, her call for help from within a forgotten land, to answer the growing warnings of the world around them.She fits well among their ranks, but Lena doesn't need it spelled out to know that if Sam is the water spirit, then Lena is not. Lena is a fluke. An imposter. Where Sam's magic is calm and healing, Lena's is devastating. It makes the earth tremble, shaking the trees with the force of it. It roars out of her control, like a wildfire, and only burns brighter as her doubt grows. She tries to slip away in the night, but Kara follows, begging her to stay. Lena refuses, citing she doesn't belong. Kara doesn't agree, but she can't explain two water spirits. It's never been spoken of, and without a rationalization Lena knows the mantle falls to Sam, the one who knows the legends and knows the lore and can control her abilities with ease.Lena slips away for good, and continues north on her own. The other four-- the true four-- remain behind. Little do they know that the Luthorian army is hot on their trail, ready to destroy anything that stands between them and their stolen princess.While Kara, Nia, Alex, and Sam all prepare to face the coming reckoning, Lena soon finds herself in a place even more mystical than the misty woods. The glacier thrums with power beneath her feet. It sings to her, awakening her soul and her true ability. It shows Lena her truth-- the story of her mother, her birth, and the betrayal of her father, who'd had her mother killed.Tapped into the power of the earth, Lena hears the sounds of the fight she's brought to misty woods-- she hears Kara cry out, hears Alex's shout of alarm. In that moment, Lena doesn't know what to do. She only knows what she can do. Lena closes her eyes, and reaches for the thread within herself that splits into four, and follows them home.She opens her eyes to a raging battle. For a moment, she believes no one has registered her sudden apparition, but then a sword snaps against her back, shattering into pieces as a deep, voracious cold turns the metal brittle in an instant.The sound rings out across a dying battlefield, and everythingfalls still. Lena locks eyes with her father's rage-filled gaze. There's a spark of vicious victory when he first lays eyes on her, but it falters at whatever he finds glaring back him."Kill them all!" he cries, and rides towards Lena himself with sword held high.He doesn't even get halfway before the forest comes to life around him. Roots and branches snarl around any knight they can get their hands on, and the ground trembles with the encroaching footfalls of the stone giants she's called in her wake. She steals flame from the soldiers' torches and passes them to Alex. Wind tears at metal plate armor and scrapes across exposed skin, filling Nia with renewed energy. For Sam, there isn't a river within miles, but Lena doesn't need one. She reaches for the most over their heads, and pulls the moisture down in a deluge of a thousand stinging needles, pricking and tinkling against skin and armor both."Lena!" Kara calls out, pulling Lena's gaze towards her as she drops to one knee and plants one hand on the ground. Around her, the others do the same: Alex, Sam, and Nia all dig their fingers into the earth, and Lena follows suit.The moment her palm connects with the dirt Lena's sense come to life with searing intensity. Power flows through her, FROM her, and flows to her sisters, binding them all together. As one, they open their eyes to gazes that glow with unearthly hue, and release a surge of power that knocks the entire army from its feet. Trolls roar in triumph as armored bodies sink into the ground, ensconced so completely that not a single one can wriggle free. Weapons freeze to the ground, and streams of fire separate the army from its king and general, who glares at his daughter with careful calculation."You remind me of your mother," he says, more gentle than he's ever been. "Come home, Lena. Imagine what the world be when it lays open at our feet."Before, Lena clung to any scrap of her mother Lionel deigned to give her. But now, with her heart filled with her own memories, gifted by the mystical glacier, his words slide off like rainwater. Her mother smiles behind Lena's eyes, and she feels the embrace of her mother's arms in the power that binds her to her four friends."I am home."With those simple words, Lena releases the power under her fingers. The ice melts to puddles, the fires reduce to embers, and the ground opens to release its prisoners. Lena rises to her feet, as do her sisters."Return to Luthoria," Lena delivers solemnly, power humming in every word. "Return home in peace, and know that should you seek to destroy this world, I will stop you. Always"When she turns her back on her father and captor, she does so in dismissal of the years of isolation and anguish she spent at his hands. She escapes his hold on her entirely. It is an insolence Lionel cannot endure.He lifts a crossbow in the space of a heartbeat, aims, and fires before anyone can draw breath to cry a warning. Even as the string snaps across the release, Lena swivels, and fires a single shard of ice. It engulfs the bolt entirely, and continues on its trajectory until its point sinks deep into Lionel's throat. When he falls, gurgling, Lena turns a solemn gaze to his remaining generals. They hesitate, unwilling to retaliate but unable to retreat. "Return home to my brother," Lena tells them, "and give him the same message. Should he harm this world, we will stop him."The generals nod, and sound the call to fall back. Before long, the woods are empty once more, and in the quiet that follows, Lena feels her sisters reach for her."It's you," Sam says softly, kissing Lena's fingers softly. "The fifth spirit. The uniter."Lena bows her head against theirs. "I'm sorry I left. I... I didn't know..."Kara nods against her. "We know.""It's okay," Nia echoes. "You came back."Alex squeezes her free hand. "That's all that matters."Later, after the wounded have been tended to and the forest put back to order, Lena sits next to Sam around a fire. "Sam..." she says softly, full of uncertainty. Sam links their fingers together in quiet solidarity. It calms Lena's heart. "The others will be returning home soon."Sam nods."I don't have a home to go back to," Lena continues. "Not anymore."To her surprise, Sam laughs, the sound rich and joyful against the dense forest. It draws Nia to join them, followed shortly by Kara and Alex as well."You are of course welcome to stay here," Sam finally replies, "but I daresay you have three other homes as well.""Yup," Nia agrees. "And I might just call dibs."Kara gazes at Lena with eyes that are soft and warm, and feel like a home in and of themselves. "The world is your home now, Lena. No matter where you are, we'll be with you."Lena turns her gaze to Alex who nods."Always."

Starting from the top right, I alternated @brittflint12 (in Scarlett O'hara + Victorian lady looks) & @modcloth (a book printed skirt - couldn't resist + mustard dress) ...because #VINTAGE. Autumn. The leaves. Pumpkins. #everythingfall, basically, matches the colors in these 4 outfits. ✨ then, @kotawade - because Harry Potter is a great book to read next to the fireplace, & because again, vintage, & how about #halloween ? This outfit spoke to me on all these levels ✨ finally, vintage good girl @fannyrosie was added to the mix because I have a crush on her style, & I felt the need of a little extra white. ✨
