the ideological underpinnings of reacher are so so deeply hideous and i don't know if i can keep overlooking them because i like reacher as a character :/
#like. they are terrorists idk how else to put it#everything reacher et al say they stand against they also perpetrate themselves#the only difference is that they're the ''good guys'' and the other people (the ones they're indiscriminately killing) are the ''bad guys''#and that's just. not ever critically addressed. not even once#and at this point they're not in the army! they're private citizens who seemingly have the freedom to kill as they see fit#now i have to specify that i don't think anyone has the right to kill#but in the ideology of the show they're fine with military and government - approved killing#but it is never actually questioned that they're *not* military or government anymore and yet they're still judges of capital punishment?#it's like an elephant in the room#sorry i know nobody gives a shit about this show#and i shouldn't expect better from 'america - fuck yeah' the show#but still#🧃
