This only time I will tried to write a AU out because my friend and I wanna see horrible stuff happen to D16 in a shrine maiden story that’s kinda fatal frame inspired
Warning for some blood and gore
Also I’m not really good at this
I’m going to base cybertron’s official religion on worship Primus and the 13 Primes
Orion come from a village far from Iacon that only worship primus and in their tales primus is quite malevolent and all transformers life it’s an exchange. Because of that village have a tradition of live sacrifice of every 50 cycles they will sacrifice a cogless shrine maiden by using the impalement ritual to Primus. D16 comes online without a cog and was taken away and raised to be the next shrine maiden. The cogless shrine maiden are free of earthly attachments and when they are out in the public during celebrations they masked their faces so people wouldn’t know what they look like.
Orion was the village troublemaker before his family moved to Iacon for better opportunities prior to this decade’s ritual, accidentally broken into the temple’s back yard in fall on top of the shrine maiden. Those two became friends somehow. And occasionally Orion will try to sneak D out of the shrine at night. Orion got beaten up few times for seeing D’s face, almost every time they get caught (which is only 2time ) D would cover for him “I got loss while wondering around in backyard and didn’t realize I’m in the forest.” Is a common excuse d used.
The priests and guardians would subject D16 to painful and humiliating punishments when she step out of the line, D16 followed a strict schedule everyday and the Priests and guardians are very strict and almost psychologically abusive to the cogless Shrine maiden. Even she is out at the courtyard she wear her mask and don’t talk to anyone.
Then their final meeting up before Orion moved D gives her bell bracelet to Orion as a reminder of her, Orion went to Iacon with his family . Few months later it’s the day of the ritual which D was deemed as corrupted by the earthly attachments because her longing to see her lover(very one sided just coming from D) Orion once more and was punished by the a 2rd ritual of gutting her body while she was still conscious. Her body parts were stored in different jars in boxes around the shrine, after 7 days her ghost returned and brutally killed the inhabitants of the temple in same way she was then cursed the mountain the village was located.
D in her ritual outfit
Over the years the village population dropped, younger generations either moved away or dead from strange causes, only the few older people around. The government tried to boost the economy by opening a tunnel which for some reason a horrible accident occurred during it’s construction the workers bodies was somehow either impaled or gutted empty and amputated unlike the usual tunnel collapsing. There was a vacation villa opened once and it was a sight of a mess shooting, the shooter in their confession said “the pale lady , Megatron, made me do it”. (Due to allegedly the pale bot looks like Megatronus Prime, in urban legends she was dub as Megatron).
Megatron aka the pale lady(D16’s ghost)
In Iacon city, Orion was on his last year of his master program, his best friends Bee and Elita 1 were planning a summer trip. Bee who comes from a sheltered religious family who just found freedom from his family during his university years is crazy about everything supernatural suggested to go to that mountain because he heard there was a temple that had live sacrifices which Orion try to brush it off as “Oh it’s just a fairy tale to scare sparklings”
The mountain now is more or less a common suicide forest and the road that leads to the village is the road has the most freak accidents. Bee wants do some ghost hunting and a road trip with the gang for the summer. Orion who has some distance memories from his childhood which his family don’t like to talk about agreed to go.
Before they depart, Orion receives a letter from his childhood village and it was from D-16, his childhood friend. Which he thought Dee is still alive when he got the letter, he just thought because her job as the shine maiden she don’t really have time to reconnect with him.
Notes
The sacrifice of the last 50 cycle before D was Starscream, a daughter from a high guard family. Her family seen one of their 4 daughters was a candidate as a great honor.Even as a somewhat willing sacrifice her ghost still haunts the shrine with the strong desire to see the night sky again.
D-16 was the only daughter and family of Terminus, a miner, Who committed suicide in the forest after d was taken from him. D’s spider lily head dress was given by him.
Bonus:
Ghost Starscream the grinning maiden

A Snezhnayan Homecoming
Childe X F!Reader
cw: not sfw, cunnilingus, edging, sexual frustration, frustration of a general nature
“I want to make you family.” You could still hear the whispers of his sweet proposal in your dreams, since it’s one of the last few good memories you still remember vividly enough to cling to. The joy you once shared has long since trickled through your exhausted and cold fingers. How were you supposed to know that becoming family meant you would be shipped off to Snezhnaya? Tartaglia, or rather Ajax as you call him now, asked you to let him introduce you to all of his relatives. You are, after all, his soon to be bride, and it was only appropriate for you to meet everyone.
You sigh and stare out the window. The family home was indeed everything he said it was and nothing less. Teucer was so excited to show you his Mr. Cyclops collection and calling you ‘Big Sister’ as he pulled you around by your hand. His mother went out of her way to learn as much about you as you would let her so you would feel right at home. In exchange, she taught you some traditional Snezhnayan dishes to bond over. The building itself was a lavish, well built mansion, and kept everyone warm even during the coldest, angriest winters no matter how ferociously they raged. It was also large enough where everyone had their own space. Even if they no longer lived there, this was the home they could always come back to. You never wanted for anything, or at least nothing material – a perk of being engaged to someone who was richer than God. But the one thing you wanted more than anything, your future husband, was nowhere to be found.
When you were together in Liyue, you noticed how much time he spends writing letters back home. Back then you thought it was sweet and admirable. Now? It’s the only thing keeping you sane, since you’re the one waiting for them. You think about rereading some of your prior letters, but you settle on staring out the window like the heartbroken maiden that you are. He said he’d be back soon, and he doesn’t lie about that sort of thing. Frustrated, you pick up one of the pillows on your to-be-marital bed and throw it down onto the mattress just to blow off steam.
You hated him. You stared down at the pillow and couldn’t help but imagine him laying in your bed, sprawled out with a cocky little smirk on his dumb face. His stupid little lips mouthing ‘Good job’ to praise you for managing to throw him onto the bed. You punch your pillow in frustration, picturing his face. You hated that you know he would probably like it. You hated him. Of course you loved him too. But right now? You hated that you loved him. Finally, when your ire has died down, you give the pillow a kiss. Maybe it was a little embarrassing, but it wasn’t fair that he left you here. Everyone is truly wonderful to you just like Ajax said they would be, but you missed him so much your bones burned under your skin. Frustrated and unfulfilled, you fell asleep.
You wake up in the middle of the night in desperate need for a glass of water. When you go to sit up you notice it’s a bit more difficult than you were expecting. Something heavy feels like it’s weighing down. Soft almost imperceivable laughter lingered in the air. You grope around in the dark and feel an unmistakable swath of hair, and yank on it. “Ow!” That oh so familiar voice protested playfully. “I missed you too…” As much as you wanted to be happy, it was difficult. Why didn’t he wake you up? Doesn’t he have any idea how much you’ve missed him? You reached around onto your nightstand to grab the cup of water you have to spare you the midnight walk to the kitchen, and dumped it on him.
“What’s wrong with you?! Why didn’t you wake me up?” You whisper angrily. Everyone was asleep, and the last thing you wanted to do was wake everyone up. Your distress, however, was palpable even though your words could never measure up to how you were feeling inside. Light airy laughter quickly faded away into a concerned silence and it was suffocating. “It’s like you don’t even miss me!” You feel like you’re about to cry. “Why didn’t you wake me up?” The battle with your tears is quickly turning into a losing one.
“Well, I had a very good reason,” Ajax soothed you. He threw his arm over your shoulder to pull you close once more – although the situation was a little bit awkward since you soaked him, the covers, as well as the mattress. “It’s because I like watching you sleep.”
“That’s not a good reason,”You groan into his shoulder. “You’re the worst.” “I’m a real bad guy, huh?” his hands play with your hair. “I worry about things like that when I’m off in Liyue. Whether you’re sleeping enough, whether you’re healthy.” “Yeah but you’re never here, so even a few more minutes would be a difference for me that you can’t even begin to imagine. I wish you missed me even a quarter as much as I mis–” He cut you off with a kiss so ravenous it made your lips sting.
He didn’t pull away, and just regarded your form with open eyes – something he did when he was looking for answers to give you.
Ajax eventually pulled enough to touch foreheads with you. “I miss you so much, you can’t even begin to imagine. But I guess I was a little greedy tonight. Moments where I can see you sleeping peacefully? It’s paradise – truly my greatest joy, and it’s something I can never ever get enough of.” He strokes your cheek, hoping it’ll ease your pain at least a little bit. “But it seems like I failed you as your soon-to-be-husband, and we can’t have that now, can we?”
Ajax suddenly rolled you onto your back, and regarded you from above. “What kind of man would I be if I let you believe I didn’t miss you every single second of every day?” He kissed you once more, but much more briefly this time. His gaze swept over you in a way that felt nothing short of utterly dangerous. “So, I guess I’ll just have to do a very good job reminding you just how much I miss you. First, we need to get rid of this.” His arm snaked under your nightgown, and swiftly pulled it over your head and off of you. “Don’t you want to be close to me?”
Ajax crushed your lips with his own once more, starving for you. His eyes remained open the whole time, darting around parts of you. You realized you would rather shut your eyes right now. It’s obvious he’s figuring out exactly how to remind you, and you didn’t want to know what he had in mind. “Feeling shy now all of a sudden?” He whispered into your ear and dragged your hair upwards to get access to your shoulders. His fingers traced along your collarbone. Ajax took a hold of one of your hands, and placed the palm of it on his cheek. He took a hold of the other one and kissed your fingers and wrist. Tonight was a rare clear night in Snezhnaya. The stars were bright and the moon was unobscured by the usual clouds seen in Snezhnaya giving you a clear picture of exactly how he was looking at you with your hands holding his face like a living frame. It was a sight that you couldn’t tell if you’d rather run away or get eaten, but it was certainly one you would never forget.
But the choice was stolen from you the moment Ajax sucked on the soft skin at the base of your neck, making a wet squelching noise as he did. Your senses were quickly becoming overwhelmed on all fronts. Now that you were liberated from the burden of your nightgown, you were entirely naked. He trailed his hand up the side of your torso. It made you shiver so much, you threw your arms around his shoulders just to ease you through the sensation. Ajax chuckled, and you could feel the air tickle your eyelashes. “Here I thought you were going to put up more of a fight…” He brushed the back of his fingers over your quickly hardening nipples. “But I like this face you make so much that I can’t feel disappointed.” He bit down onto your ear, and began circling the tip of your nipple with his index finger.
“And the noises you make,” he inhales sharply and his whole body shivered, “drive me crazy.” Something he’s said so many times, but you’ve never believed it more than today. “As much as I want to make you sing, it wouldn’t be good to wake everyone up. So, try your best to be good.” Your nerves were fried. Your hair was standing on end. You wanted to run. Your heart was pounding in your chest, but most importantly, you definitely felt like you were sorely missed. Ajax slid down the bed without removing his hand which diligently worked towards giving you an unforgettable night. He pushed one of your thighs off to the side so he could get a good look at you. Your weeping cunt was a welcome sight – one he couldn’t help but sigh in satisfaction at. He looked up at you and gave you the usual smirk that made you miss him so much you wanted to rip your hair out some days and it was like your heart did a backflip. Your respite was only temporary. He swiftly licked his index and middle finger and dove into you. His thumb rubbed steady circles on your clit, and you had to cover your mouth to stifle your erupting moans. It’s a dance you’ve performed so many times, but one you would never ever tire of.
You clasp your hands over your mouth, as he stroked you with focus and purpose. He kissed your thigh and gently laid his head against it, able to navigate around your shaking hips and undisturbed by your suddenly thrashing limbs. He could feel you were close, he knew you well enough. So, just like that he stopped. Everything stopped, and he looked at you with that cocky grin and you just wanted to punch him. He winked at you as if able to read your mind. “Won’t it be more fun and memorable if I don’t make it easy for you.”
You groaned. “Aww don’t be like that,” he lowered his head between your legs and gave your swollen clit some sorely needed love. You grip at the bed sheets. Anytime he’s got his head between your legs, he’s so excited to ruin you. Your body reacts accordingly, and your back arches as if by instinct.
“I’ve missed you so much,” you whisper. Ajax grabs a hold of your thighs and pulls you a bit closer. He angles your hips upwards, to make it much harder for you to get away.
His mouth drops to you once more, and you grip onto the sheets – the covers – anything. You needed him so much, so fucking much and he’s here – he’s finally here. Your toes curl, and – he stops. Of course he does. Why wouldn’t he? You swipe at him. “Oooh kitten’s got claws,” he teased.
“Just say you hate me and get it over with,” you whine.
“That’s not it at all.” He smirked down at you, enjoying your frustrated red face. “You want to cum? Not until I say you’re ready.” He said, and slid his fingers inside of you once more. It didn’t take long to get you teetering on the edge, and you had forgotten yourself for a moment. “Shhh, be good.” He placed his index finger against your lips to encourage you. You kissed it happily.
“I’m close, so close so so –” You felt like you were going crazy.
“I don’t think you’re ready yet,” he reminds you. You whine in exasperation. “You’re almost ready, so how about a countdown?” You don’t really have a choice.
Ajax picks up the pace, but not before laying his head against your thigh once more. “ten, nine, eight,” you cover your mouth and shut your eyes. “seven, six, five,” His rhythm is steady and his touch is focused. It feels so good to have him inside of you like this again. You wonder if it feels like home for him too. “four, three, two,” he laughs. “two, two, twoo.” You feel like you’re going to lose your mind. “Twooo… and one.”
Your vision goes white, you can’t breathe, and pure ecstasy washes through every inch of every vein and every artery, leaving nothing untouched.
After what felt like an eternity, your mind clears up and you notice Ajax’s fingers were placed over your mouth with a surprised look on his face. You give his fingers a swift kiss. “I uh – was I being too loud?”
“We’re lucky I’ve got such incredible reflexes or you would have woken up every single person in the house.”
You continued to kiss his fingers. “Thank you.”
“It’s so good to be back, you know?” He pushed you down onto the bed once more. “I’ve missed you so much.” He gripped his cock in one hand and spread you open once more. You weren’t sure you were ready to go again, but what you were sure of is that you didn’t really have a choice. Ajax thrusted into you from tip all of the base in a single thrust. You covered your mouth, but you quickly readjusted because you had to hold onto him with the way he was fucking you. Your ecstatic moans were leaking through. “Shhhh,” he quieted you but not before fucking you even harder. Your eyes rolled back in your head. Ajax covered your mouth with one hand, and brushed aside your hair with the other. He laid tender kisses along every inch of you while he fucked you into the mattress. “So g– hnnn ghh. So good. I missed you so much,” you muttered into his fingers.
At the breakfast table the following morning. “Ajax is your bride-to-be joining us for breakfast today?”
He smiled and covered his face with the back of his hand, sheepishly. “I got back pretty late and we were up all night talking, so she’s sleeping in. I’ll bring her something later though.”

Until Death My Love
Special Chapter.
Arceint Family.
.
.
might have some bad grammars, correct me if there are any mistakes in the words in the story I wrote. Anyways i hope you all enjoys my story,love.- Neva🦋🦋
- Until Death My Love Pt.1
- Until Death My Love Pt.2
- Until Death My Love Pt.3
- Until Death My Love Pt.4
.
.
.
.
A family with a symbol of a hungry lion. A famous family that is very honorable among the mafia association families from the underworld.
Not many people know about the Arceint family, but whoever it is, whether it is an ordinary person or a kind of Arceint family, marrying or joining the Arceint family alliance, is the same as swimming in endless gold piles.
.
.
You, you are an ordinary woman, from an ordinary family too, met Alex in high school, thinking that Alex is an ordinary man like you.
Oh dear, if only you knew that Alex was only on a mission from his family to blend in with ordinary people, before he returned and took his share of the Arceint association.
Alex thought that while he was in school and studying among ordinary people, his life would be like a blank sheet of paper. Until he met you, everything that came from within you, triggered something that Alex never thought he would ever feel.
From there Alex fell in love, and fell even more when he found out that you were beyond what he thought. Oh my dear, he is so in love with you. You wouldn't dare think about what he would do just to make you pay attention to him.
.
Now you are back at your house and Alex, it has been 8 months since the incident you experienced before. Everything goes as before, you decide to play it safe, rather than die, why not pamper yourself with everything Alex gives you?, you can't lie to yourself, you love Alex as Alex loves you.
Oh my dear if only you knew what bad things Alex did to the servants in this residence when you left this house.
Right now, Alex is leading you to his study room. You don't know what Alex wants to show you, you just surrender to where he takes you.
By opening the door Alex guides you to enter his room. Taking your hand and sitting you in his office chair.
"Wait here a moment my dear, I'll be right back."
After saying that, Alex walked to the bookshelves in his room, then he took a book with a black cover and a gold lion symbol.
While walking back towards you, Alex lifted you and sat down, while placing you comfortably on his lap.
"You know my dear, we've been married for 2 years, we've been through a lot lately, I want to have children with you and create a harmonious family"
"All of that will not come true, if there are still secrets between us".
Then Alex opened the book, the first page was greeted with a golden lion symbol with bold writing.
'ARCEINT FAMILY'
.
.
Alex, tells you, the Arceint family tree to you, because you are now also part of Arceint.
Your husband just said that Arceint is the same as the mafia, the difference here is, the Arceint Family has been working with the government since ancient times historically until now.
The power of the Arceint family covers the entire world, because they are part of the world mafia association. They also have many enemies, but playing with fire with lions is an endless nightmare.
The Arceint family is divided into 3 groups, the Core Family, the Main Family, and the branch family.
The Core Family are those who built Arceint, they can be said to be the leader family of Arceint.
The Main Family is the second part of the core family, their power is broad, but not as absolute as the Core Family.
And the branch family is a family from the main family's division, they have no position and can only wait for orders from the core family and the main family.
The 2 families under the leadership of the Core Family can only follow absolute orders that have indeed become history and existing traditions.
The core family is symbolized by a different symbol, namely a lion standing sideways with both legs and hands forming the letter V. Their name is 'Non Ducor Duco'.
The arceint family is involved in a lot of black trade, such as smuggling weapons and other illegal goods, but of course with permission from the government.
.
.
You who are currently sitting on Alex's lap can only be silent listening to the explanation about his family.
Then Alex, his hands are busy opening the next page.
"You ..... which part of the family are you from?"
Asking in a low tone, you look at Alex who is currently also looking at you.
Your husband then smiles playfully.
"Why doesn't my love guess which part of the family I am from, hmm?"
"Is Alex from the main family??".
Because you have no clue, you just guess that he is from the main family. Which was answered with a shake of the head.
Then Alex's hand stopped on the page that was printed in bold with the sentence.
"Non Ducor Duco"
Then you looked at Alex which was only answered with a smirk by him.
"My love, try to say my name?"
"Alexandrovice Reigent Arceint?"
"That's right, my name is Alexandrovice Raigent Arceint".
Then Alex continued by saying that all of his family bear the name Arceint, but not all of them bear the name Reigent, because Reigent is the name of the core family that cannot be passed down by other families even though they are still blood relatives.
Only the core family and their partners are allowed to bear the name.
Then while stroking your head slowly, Alex said that not all couples from the core family can use the name Reigent because there is a tradition that must be followed.
Then Alex's hand stopped on a page where there was a photo of several women kneeling on each side of the chairs occupied by men.
Alex said that for couples in the core family or other family members, if they wanted to bear the name Arceint or Reigent they had to follow the tradition.
A tradition called "My life is yours".
This tradition requires women to have a status that is not equal to men. These women must pass tests and several other traditions that violate gender equality norms.
Then you asked Alex.
"Are .... the 2 women in the photo frame in the room doing that tradition?" .
Alex just nodded and stroked your head gently while leaning his body against the chair.
"Does ..... Alex want me to do that tradition too?"
You asked worriedly, Alex did not specify what the tradition was like. But you were afraid to do the tradition which could make you uncomfortable.
Alex just laughed softly and whispered softly in your ear.
"My love, you don't need to do that stupid tradition, you already bear my name, as Mrs. Reigent Arceint.".
You just stared at Alex confused, which Alex replied by kissing your cheek affectionately
"Like my father, I break my family's tradition dear, only for you my love".
Alex said that his father Rovalnov Reigent Arceint also broke the tradition in the Arceint family, only for his mother. By giving a name without following tradition.
The reason why when Alex and you got married and only his mother and father came from his family was because the nuclear family did not need to be accompanied by other families.
His father officially named you as part of the Arceint Reigent family, the partner of Alexandrovice Reigent Arceint.
Although Alex is the last child, Alex is known as a more competent and heartless successor than his two older brothers.
The love story of Alex's father and mother is very dark, because his mother did not love his father, therefore Alex's father forcibly kidnapped his mother, and was willing to break the existing rules for the first time in the history of the Arceint family.
And the story repeats itself between you and Alex.
You can only be silent, while Alex is only busy kissing your neck and cheeks with affection because of your confused expression.
"My love, don't worry, no one can hurt you .... not when I'm still alive my dear".
You finally know now, you finally realize what the meaning of Alex's mother's gentle sympathetic smile to you on your and Alex's wedding day.
Like a father, like a son.
Alex's mother seemed to want to convey a message to you. The smile implied something like a greeting, a sympathetic greeting because you would experience the same thing as her.
"Welcome dear, In this crazy family, I'm sure you'll get used to it soon"
You can only mourn your fate once again.. mourn your fate as the wife of Alexandrovice Reigent Arceint, your husband with 10001 secrets in his life.

Benedict Bridgerton x Reader // Jealousy 📚 🖼️
:: masterlist
Summary: Lately, you and Colin have been bonding over art and books, but what happens when a certain Bridgerton gets jealous?
————————————————————————
Benedict never took any interest into deciding to marry, with his family having a tradition to marry for love, not wealth, he had the freedom to focus on his art, without the pressure to find romance.
To him, romance was a burden that held you back from achieving many things, but lately, Benedict had second guessed all his thoughts on love.
For the past few weeks, ever since Colin found out you like to read, you two have been meeting continuously in the gardens to discuss your latest reads. At first, Benedict thought it was nice you and Colin were starting to bond, he was glad you had another bridgerton to confide in, alongside himself. But as days turned into weeks, Benedict felt a burn in his chest as he sees your interest slowly turn away from him, and towards his brother.
Benedict and you had met at an event, you both bonded of your shared liking of the arts, and although to many in the ton, your friendship may have seemed inappropriate, Violet bridgerton never thought for one second your friendship was wrong.
However, friendship seemed to be a heavy understatement to describe what you two had, neither of you would admit it, but you both knew some feelings were there. Your mother was very adamant on you marrying someone with a high status, like a viscount, or duke, which is why she never considered Benedict as a suitor. “He’s a lovely gentleman, but his status is too low, perhaps his brother the viscount would be a better suit for you?” She would say.
Oh but you wish she did approve him. Your feelings for Benedict never went away, every time he was near you felt planets away, just out of reach of something special.
So when the younger brother of Benedict, Colin came to you, taking an interest in your latest read, you didn’t hesitate to start discussing it with him.
You never once thought Benedict and you would ever happen, maybe some time with another bridgerton would help those feelings die down?
As weeks went by, you did miss Benedict, you felt bad you were starting to spend time with Colin more, but every time you and him made eye contact, the longing in your heart grew, and it needed to be contained.
Benedict missed you tremendously, he always tried to find a moment to talk to you, just to know even one thing about what you’ve been up to. But Colin would always steal you away.
What did you even see in Colin that you didn’t see in him? He would listen to you talk about books for hours, if it just meant you’d go back to him.
*at the bridgerton house*
You’re waiting for Colin in the library, looking through some books, when you see in the corner of your eye a tall figure
You turn your head to see Benedict, you haven’t seen or talked to him in a while, both of you freeze seeing one another.
“Benedict. I haven’t seen you for a while, how have you been?” You say to him slowly walking towards him, hoping to make conversation, instead he furiously strides towards you
“Why have you been ignoring me?” He asks with a stern face
“What do you mean?”
“You know what I mean, you’ve spent almost a month going off with Colin talking about god knows what while I’m here missing you like some idiot” he’s mad now, he doesn’t understand why you have to ignore him to hang out with his brother
“I’m sorry, I’m sure we can arrange something-“
“Do you have any idea how much my heart has burned for you? You are the only thing I think about when I go to sleep, the only thing I think about when I wake up and you aren’t even there. I don’t know if I’ve done something but tell me so I can fix it. I’m tired of wishing you weren’t so far away.” Benedict comes to a stop, instantly regretting everything that just came out his mouth
“Do you really feel that way?” You ask, the warmth in you blossoms and that desire to be closer to him now grows
“Of course I have. I’ve felt it since the moment you spoke to me. I know your mother doesn’t want you to be with me, and maybe you don’t want to be with me either, but I won’t deny how I feel, you are the whole reason I breathe, every time you are near time stops and the only thing in the room is you. My mind goes insane because I can’t ignore the fact that I want you-“ before he can say anything else, you grab his shirt and pull him in to kiss him. He widens his eyes, but realising what’s going on, immediately kisses you back. He holds your cheeks to pull you in more. The whole room spins, the only thing you two care about in this moment is eachother.
You pull away and look into his eyes, so much desperation and desire painted across his face
”I’m sorry I’ve been away” you say softly
“It’s okay, you’re mine now, that’s all that matters” he laughs softly as he pulls you in for another kiss, harder than the last. Years of built up desire now let out, pulling the weight off of both your shoulders.
————————————————————————
a/n: it’s Benedict’s season soon 😝 I hope you guys enjoyed thisss! 🫶

Gotham was the last place you’d expected to be sent off to, but it’s where you found yourself now. Despite being disgustingly crime ridden, it was the center of trade, commerce, business, and more importantly— information. Which is precisely what you’d been sent to offer.
Your family’s company recently made a ground breaking discovery in pharmaceuticals, creating a drug that could limit the spread of cancer cells without traditional side effects; YB-V they called it. However, the by-product of production was much more severe, resulting in a chemical compound capable of mutating all the cells in a person completely to become something other as if they belonged to a different entity. Given the right motivations and means, the cells could be manipulated by a third party, turning them into fully conscious puppets of some sort.
With data leaks and security concerns, and the serious nature of the consequences if your drug had fallen into the wrong hands, you were sent to deliver the research and development to the production team personally; placed in charge of overseeing production until launch.
Which all sounded good in theory, but as you found yourself twiddling your thumbs in a blacked out office space, getting briefed on the gravity of the situation by a police task force with some vigilante character hanging around behind you, you began to question what it was all worth.
“So let me get this straight, an email between Wayne Corp and ourselves was leaked and now a couple big shot villains want to steal it? What kind of bad guy reads emails?”
A burly officer with a thick white mustache and a pair of square set glasses cleared his throat awkwardly, “That’s correct.”
“Some tech team,” you scoffed. “I’m the only one that can access any of the files, it’s all biometrically locked. While this certainly puts a damper on my day, we should be able to proceed normally.”
“They have your identity too,” the figure in the back voiced. Red Robin, you’d been informed, one of Gotham’s crime fighters in spandex (allegedly.) Up until now he hadn’t spoken a word, loitering while the police explained everything to you.
“Which is why we brought you here,” the commissioner pipped, reaching for his coffee mug as he spoke. “Red Robin has agreed to watch over your activities for the duration of your time in Gotham. For your safety, and ours.”
Have this guy tail you? As if. You were occupied enough without having a stranger watch your every move. A vigilante at that, it’s not like you could look at his resume and review his history.
“While that is a gracious offer, I have my own bodyguards. They’re well trained and—“
“Not for Gotham, you don’t.” Red Robin stepped out from the corner he’d situated himself in, arms crossed and a frown plastered on his face. “And unless you want to stay in a bunker for three months, I’m your best bet.”
Silence fell as you stared at the masked man, contemplating your options. The underground bunker was out of the question. On top of running production, you had a company to run and a reputation to upkeep; meetings, galas, charity events to attend. And as much as you hated to admit it, they had to be right. Gotham knows Gotham, and with the crises you’d witnessed on screen it was clear their criminals were on a polarly different level.
Pressing your hands to the table, you stood up and turned around, “I see. And you being around won’t make me more of a target?”
“Not even you would know I’m there.”
Closing the distance between the two of you in a few paces, you stuck your hand out to him, “In that case, I look forward to working with you Red Robin.”
Standing near him, the faint smell of lavender was imminent and something deeper lingered under it, an amber of some sort. It was pleasant; Red Robin had good taste in cologne. And that is all you needed to trust him.
It took a second for him to shake your outstretched hand. In your palm, his grip was firm, rough gloves pressing into your satin skin. Secure, you’d decided, secure and reliable.
And just as he’d promised, you hardly noticed him. On the contrary, you were also never attacked; not in the days following the abrupt meeting, nor the week after that, nor the month after that. There was the occasional mention of trouble, or something that went bump in the night— but whether it concerned you or not it didn’t matter. Nothing ever happened.
When he was tucked away it felt like he was really gone, not even the eerie feeling that followed being watched lingered. The only thing that drew you back into the reality was when you’d catch the scent of lavender lingering or in the few cases where he’d appear before you. In his absence you felt almost lonely, despite your work occupying it all. So you soon found yourself leaving notes.
“Bought coffee for the office.”
And he began to write back.
“Just black next time, thanks.”
…
“What’s your favorite color?”
“Cornflower blue.”
“That’s a dumb name. Your costume is red, I think you got out branded by Nightwing.”
“In my defense, I didn’t design it.”
…
He didn’t say much in them, nothing that you could glean in depth anyway. But you found yourself oddly pleased with his nothing. It’s not like you cared so desperately for his identity, that was his to keep of course. You did care for his presence. Something about it was magnetizing, and because he hardly appeared before you, these were the tidbits you found yourself drawn to.
Not that you’d kept them, he would see. Despite knowing the situation you were in, it still felt like a strange game— where he knew every detail about you, and you knew nothing of him. Your feelings, at the least, these you could keep on your own.
“Do you need lab access? I know you follow me in, but if there’s an emergency or something…” Production and distribution for YB-V was run by Wayne Corp and like all things related to your project it was kept secure in an underground bunker while you worked to transfer the information your company developed.
While the scientists and developers were mainly in charge of carrying out the project, none of it could move forward without you. The security system had been meticulously set up so that you, and only you, could access the files with the research and instructions. And beyond even your capabilities, every stage written into the plan had to be completed before the next could be unlocked. So you had to be there, supervise and guide them during the entirety of the process.
Archaic, you’d decided. But necessary according to the rest of the world.
Red Robin accompanied you on these trips. Being underground and all, it was one of the few moments he went with you rather than watching from afar.
“No, I’ll find a way in if I need a way in.”
You looked back at him questioningly. You didn’t doubt his capabilities of course, but he said it with such ease, “Is it that easy to break into? I should increase security.”
He scoffed, crossing his arms. “It’s secure. I’m the issue.”
You turned back around shaking your head with a snort. He was growing on you, sass and all. Stopping by a display of notes and charts, you looked them over to ensure they aligned with protocol.
“I have to attend a gala next week, by the way.”
He hummed in response, a couple steps behind you like he usually was when you visited the lab.
“It’s at Wayne Manor… and I can get you an invite. Security is stricter than it is here, I’ve been told. It’d be troublesome to sneak around.” Ruffling through the papers, you extracted the one you needed, holding it up to your face.
“And I don’t have a date,” you added.
“…are you asking me out?” You could hear a hint of a smile in his voice, making your face burn red at the accusation.
You set the paper down, abruptly whipping around with the most serious expression you could muster, “Strictly for my safety! I don’t know how credible everyone attending is and—“
The smile on his face shut you up. Embarrassed and slightly dejected you looked around the room for something else to lock eyes on, clearing your throat.
“I would’ve loved to, but I won’t be there. Something came up that I need to take care of. But like you said, security is strict, you’ll be safe,” he interjected before you could say anymore. Honestly you couldn’t even be mad, he let you down so sincerely you had to believe it. The small smile plastered on his face and the gentle tone he used in opposition to his usual curt one melted you down far more than you would’ve liked it to.
“Right.” It took you a second to cough anything out, like you were thirteen and starstruck again by any character that tossed you a bone, “so much for you or the bunker, I could’ve hired the Waynes’ security.”
But you were disappointed, and his answer did surprise you. Busy? He hadn’t left your side your entire stay as far as you were aware, granted you couldn’t see him 95% of the time, but in principle.
He must’ve picked up on your downtrodden state because he leaned in teasingly, that familiar lavender scent washing over you, “You have your own bodyguards though, right? They’re well trained.”
You wondered what color his eyes were behind the mask, a warm brown or a melancholy blue. Either way you’d decided you were done for, his were the type of eyes you could drown in; “Not for Gotham, I don’t.”
The night of the gala you didn’t expect much. You were supposed to represent your company of course, as their Gotham socialite, and you were to meet with your business partner. Up until now everything had been transactional, taken care of on invisible ends. Which was fine, but to maintain business relations you had to show up to these things.
And so it was about as dry as you’d thought it to be. Most of everyone was twice your age, many were so stuck in their desire for affluence it radiated off of them like maggots in a burn pile. Supposedly it was a charity gala, in reality it was an egoistic echo chamber and you were in no position to defy it.
Flitting around you sipped your champagne and made conversation and promises that didn’t matter until a hand graced your shoulder with the lightest touch, it felt almost invisible. Turning around you saw a boy with raven hair and the tamest of blue eyes. And he looked to be around your age, a moment of respite at last.
“Hi,” he breathed the word into a smile that was dazzlingly honest and strikingly warm in juxtaposition with the mood of the room.
“Hi,” you shook the hand he offered to you. His hands were rougher than you’d imagine an aristocrat’s to be, littered with callouses you attributed with a dedication to some sport, “I’m Y/N, I don’t think we’ve met before?”
“Sort of, I’m Tim.” In your correspondence with Wayne Corp, Tim had been your main contact; at least for big ticket decisions. In other words, he was your collaborator and your business’ partner. In your head you recalled all the times you poked fun at the archaic way he wrote his emails, like he was 52 and balding— in reality he was just the opposite.
“Oh! It’s nice to finally meet you! Thank you for working with us, we couldn’t have progressed this far without Wayne Corp.”
“On the contrary, thank you for trusting us. This project’s been a huge safety concern for you I’ve heard.”
You laughed, shaking your head, “Not at all! I have one of the best vigilantes in the city.” But this, he should’ve already known. Red Robin had to be cleared for access to certain things, and you’d corresponded as much through your emails. “I must say though, I was disappointed it wasn’t Nightwing at first, he used to be my favorite.”
Tim blinked at you for a spell and you couldn’t read his expression. Pleasant and cordial with some twinge of underlying distaste was the best way to describe it, something in the way his eyes glinted with a malice behind his smile. “Has that changed?”
He must love Red Robin.
“I suppose,” growing on you was an understatement. It was a strange ordeal because he wasn’t real. No name or title you could address, but everything you learned about Red Robin made you want to know more about Red Robin. He was magnetizing. “Have you met them? Is it a normal Gotham thing?”
“No,”his response came swiftly, “they’re usually in other parts of the city and I’m never out at night. Married to the office.”
“I see.” That would explain the emails.
“Do you… want to dance?” He extended his hand to you graciously, but with a gentle hesitance that made him seem softer than he was. In a way you felt like you were betraying your vigilante delusionship, but he hadn’t agreed to go with you and Tim was charming enough. Besides, business relations.
“Of course.” Placing your flute of champagne on a nearby table, you took his arm as he led you to the floor. He smiled in a demure sort of way that made your heart flutter like the excitement you’d felt interacting with Red Robin. Maybe you just liked the attention that much, that must be the correlation between the two.
“Do you know how to waltz?” Typically galas didn’t have much dancing at all, let alone organized ballroom dancing, but leave it to the Waynes to find a way to stun the crowd with their class and extravagance.
“Sort of, I’ve taken rudimentary classes.” Like when you were five.
“Perfect,” he grinned. He placed his hand faintly on the small of your waist while the other found purchase in your opposing palm, “I’ll lead. Just follow along, you’ll be fine.”
Miraculously you were fine. You started out with your eyes glued to the floor, following after him and avoiding his toes. But once you’d gotten into a rhythm, it all felt like floating.
“You haven’t stepped on my toes once,” he joked. Up close and under the mesmerizing ballroom light he looked angelic, the way the light caught in his lashes and the reflected off the blue of his eyes—like little golden flecks glimmering under supple flowing rivers.
“I’ve been trying not to!” you laughed.
“You look beautiful,” as if his eyes could get any more mesmerizing, they softened somehow with his words, “outfit and all.”
“Thank you,” at this you averted your gaze, and prayed the lighting didn’t highlight the flush of your cheeks. Out of being flustered or embarrassment, you didn’t know. On the one hand, a rich, beautiful, respectful man was complimenting you. On the other, you were wearing cornflower blue because it was someone else’s favorite color. Like you were twelve again and going to some middle school dance where you wanted to impress your hallway crush.
“Your Getty pictures don’t do you justice,” he continued. “Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t seen one bad photo, but you always look so serious and intimidating.”
It never occurred to you he’d Googled you before, it made sense now how he was able to single you out in the crowd. Maybe the thought was so foreign because you’d never paid him any mind, but now you were thinking you should’ve. At the very least because it’s polite and helpful to know the bare minimum, but if you were honest with yourself it’s because he struck a curiosity in you that needed to be sated—too breathtaking to be real and all you’d known was his face and arresting demeanor.
“Because I am serious and intimidating, I’m very good at my job you know. You’re not the only one married to an office,” you boasted. In reality you hated work, but worse still was posing for pictures. Especially at crowded social functions your parents ushered you to where you didn’t know a soul, you simply didn’t know what to do with yourself in front of a camera—that was your excuse anyway.
“That explains the dancing,” he quipped with a sideward smile.
Your eyes widened slightly in shock as your mouth fell open to scoff. “Hey! I thought I was doing pretty good!”
He burst into a contagious laughter that hypnotically made you follow suit. But you wouldn’t settle for that after all your efforts to keep up. With a look to the wayside, you pretended to lose touch of the tandem between your steps and lurch forward, consequently stepping on his polished brown loafers. And then it was his turn to be shocked.
“Woah! So much for trying,”Tim teased. Not that he lost his footing, he was as stable as ever. In his eyes you swore there was a glint of mockery, as if he knew and anticipated it.
“Oh did I hurt you,” you feigned concern before slipping into the most innocent smile you could muster. “I’m a terrible dancer, I can’t help it.”
“Aren’t you petty?”
“You have no idea.”
“Petty and pretty, how dangerous.”
Before you could fire some witty retort you noticed your steps slowing to a halt with the swoon of the music. He’d brought his hand above you to spin you once, slowly. The other on your waist moved to your lower back to support you as he pulled you into a dip and all you could do was follow. Something about the atmosphere had your heart palpitating. Or maybe it was the way he was looking at you, like you were an art piece on display, overhead light illuminating behind him as he stared down at you like an angel emerging from the heavens.
Sundering you to the earth, you couldn’t fixate your eyes on anything else, and though it was only for a moment it felt like eternity. You were close enough now for the scent of his cologne to waft over you faintly amongst the throng of strongly powdered people in the room. Lavender. A familiar lavender with all the base notes that’d been lingering around you for the past few weeks. Your look of awe faded to confusion.
Red Robin’s.
“Is that—“
But he wasn’t looking at you. Instead you followed his gaze down to your chest, eyes widening as you saw the little red laser mark hovering over your heart. Before you could react, you felt the air get knocked out of your lungs as Tim shoved you away. The sound of the gun firing pierced cleanly through the noise of the glitz and glamour, and something burned across the skin of the side of your arm.
You couldn’t tell if it was broken glass that cut you or something else, you couldn’t feel much of anything with the adrenaline flooding your body. Scared and discombobulated, you scrambled backwards as panic set into the crowd.
In the midst of the onset of gunshots and people scattering towards exits, Tim had rushed over to you. Kneeling beside you, he gave you a quick look over and gently pulled you up by your uninjured arm. As soon as you were up he rushedly dragged you away from it all, winding through the hallways of the manor wordlessly. Though it was probably for the better, because you didn’t have an ounce of air left in your lungs trying to keep up with his pace or a thought in your head after what you’d just witnessed.
The further you trudged along, the heavier your limbs felt and the harder it was to pry your eyes open after blinking. Which was strange, you hadn’t lost so much blood, but it must’ve been the confusion of it all or something you ate. A couple halls and turns later you arrived at a room. He ushered you inside, seating you on the bed before rummaging through the drawers.
“Are you alright? Does it hurt badly?” from the drawer he procured a bandage. He sat himself next to you, promptly wrapping the cloth tightly around your arm.
“No, it’s not bad,” truthfully it felt numb, which you couldn’t decide was a good or bad thing. You couldn’t think much of anything, focused on keeping your eyes from fluttering shut.
“I should’ve known they’d do something,” he’d muttered. As he finished, pushing himself off the bed, your head suddenly felt too heavy to hold up and your eyes too tired to function.
“Hey… are you okay? You don’t look so good.” He pressed the back of his hand to your forehead, feeling nothing abnormal and deepening his concern. But you couldn’t process what he was saying. With a lilt, you fell to your side, feeling the injunctive relief of not having to hold yourself upright.
He undid your bandages to look at the wound again before scowling as it dawned on him, “Tranquilizers.”
After rewrapping your arm, he hurriedly stalked towards the door, “You’ll be safe here, I’ll send someone.”
With whatever consciousness you had left you managed to slur a sentence, “Where are you going?”
“To find my brother.”
If he said anything after you didn’t hear it, because the moment your eyes fluttered shut, they stayed shut.
You didn’t know how long you were out. Not terribly so. When you’d awoken, it was still dark out. Tim must’ve flicked the light off when he’d left too, the only light that flooded in was from the streetlamp out the window. The drugs hadn’t cleared your system yet if the pounding in your head and brain fog you were experiencing was any indicator. And they didn’t even hit you directly, who knows where you’d be if they did.
In the streets you could hear the panic of people and the wail of police sirens, which would’ve settled your stomach if not for the fact that it clearly wasn’t over and the police weren’t entering.
You jerked your head towards the door as a loud thud sounded just outside of it. Looking around the room for a place to hide, there was none. And if there was one, you couldn’t see it with the lights out. Some commotion followed before what sounded like a body hit the floor.
Not knowing what else to do, you wrapped yourself in the bedding, pulling it to the floor behind the bed and huddling there. At the very least, no one knew you were in there but Tim, and surely he’d locked the door.
Nope.
The sound of the knob turning made your blood run cold. You drew the blankets tightly around yourself, hoping you’d amalgamate into the cloths if you’d clutched them tightly enough.
With the bed obscuring your view, you couldn’t see the perpetrator and you didn’t want to. You screwed your eyes shut as footsteps creaked on the wood pacing towards you. Against your will, you hands couldn’t cease trembling and you wondered if the other person in the room could hear your heart beating out of your chest.
This was it. If someone wanted to swoop in, now would be great.
The footsteps halted on the opposite side of the bed. You considered jumping out at them, throwing the blanket and bolting for it, but your limbs felt like they were filled with lead. And in any case, if they were armed you were done for anyway. So you held your breath and willed them away instead.
To your horror they’d started again in your direction. Silence. And then a hand touched the blanket and you couldn’t help it, you shrieked and covered your head with your arms.
But instead of force or a bludgeoning, they’d knelt in front of you, gently grabbing your arms as you thrashed. A familiar voice called your name out a couple times before you recognized it and opened your eyes.
“Hey, hey, hey, it’s me! You’re okay,” in the dark you couldn’t really see his face but it was Tim’s voice that called to you. Delirious and reeling, the relief flooded your body so intensely, the tears didn’t even have time to well before they were streaming down your cheeks.
Throwing your arms around him, you sobbed for all you were worth, “I was so scared, why’d you just leave me!”
You felt him stiffen beneath you at the sudden intrusion before softening and patting the back of your head with a gloved hand. “I’m sorry,” he whispered.
And it felt so safe there, in his arms, secure but soft all at once. The familiar lavender mixed with the champagney smell from the gala soothed you in a way you’d never thought you’d needed.
“I thought they were gonna get me,” you choked out between sobs. This was in no way attractive, “and then I’d get kidnapped, and everyone would turn into puppets!”
“I’m sorry,” he said again. Not mocking or laughing at you like your more awake self would’ve expected, he was mellow about the whole thing. Sorry and really sorry for it—and it wasn’t even his fault.
When you calmed down enough to sound coherent, he pulled back to wipe the tears from your cheeks.
“Let me see that,” he nodded towards your bandaged arm. You stretched it out for him and he undid the gauze, “This doesn’t look too bad. Shouldn’t scar.”
Procuring new dressings, he took his time with it this time, applying a salve before wrapping it around you again.
“Tim?” you said his name just to say his name, because you liked the way it felt to say and you wanted to hear him speak. Instead he paused before resuming his work, “I’m Red Robin.”
“Oh.” That’s embarrassing. You were so certain of it too, but he did say he would send someone and he was probably with his family or waiting outside for things to settle. So instead you got the infinitely intangible Red Robin, “I thought you were busy.”
“Plans changed.” He was never this curt with you, not after knowing you anyway. He had to maintain secrecy, you knew this, but he’d find ways to say more anyway.
You flinched as he constricted your arm with the bandage, “You’re pulling it a little tight.”
This made him pause again, letting go of the wrap altogether this time as the circulation breathed back into your marrow.
Exhaling, he ran a hand through his raven hair, “I’m sorry.”
You blinked at him, still fighting to keep your eyelids open but worried nonetheless. This was unlike him, “Red?”
“Sorry, I’m just on edge. I should’ve known, I could’ve prevented this,” shaking his head, it was if he made up his mind, “Everything is transferred now, the project can wrap up without you. We’ll get you on the next flight back tomorrow.”
Somewhere in you an inkling of anger stirred, as if you were an object that could be sent as needed. But the strain in his voice was evident, how could hold a grudge against that? “I don’t want to leave yet.”
“You’re going.”
You huffed, “I’m not. And you don’t have to watch me anymore if it’s too much, I never expected that from you! You’re here now, you didn’t have to be, but you are— that’s more than my useless bodyguards or Wayne security have done and they’re paid for it. You put up with me and nothing has happened to me. I’m sorry for being so vulnerable, that’s my fault. Don’t you dare berate yourself, you haven’t done one wrong thing!”
He said nothing, just stared at you with something like curiosity. Under the pale moonlight and with his face obstructed you could only speculate.
You stuck out your injured arm to him again, urging him to take it, “Hurry and finish, I’m still sleepy.”
Wordlessly he finished binding your arm. As soon as he was done you fell on his shoulder, closing your eyes.
“Tim—“
“I’m not Tim,” he reiterated. There was something in his tone that you couldn’t quite place; annoyance?
“Oh,” you mumbled, feeling sleep creep up on you again, “you smell the same... I think I like him.” Surely it’s fine to confess this much, or that’s what you told yourself as you started to drift off, words slurring and thoughts blurring, “you should meet him, he’s a big fan.”

Always Been You
masterlist
Prompt: And the other is about how Pato falls in love with the reader, just how he says "oh yeah she's THE ONE"
since this prompt was pretty vague I took a lot of liberties with it, but I still hope you like it :)
Summary: After being dumped by his long term girlfriend, Pato realizes everything he’s ever wanted in a relationship has been right in front of him
WC: 4.1k
It happened very suddenly. Here’s the thing, Pato didn’t mean for it to happen at all. On the list of things he had planned for the year, this was definitely not on it. A 500 win? Definitely. A championship? Yep. Extending his contract with Mclaren? Right again. But starting the off season by being dumped by his long term girlfriend and realizing he’s in love with his best friend was not anywhere in his mind.
It all started at the last race of the season, Pato was leading the championship, and granted he got a podium on this race he would finally have his championship victory. To celebrate and support, almost everyone he knew came to Nashville. Pato rented out a block of rooms at a hotel, and one of the many people who showed up for him was his childhood best friend, YN.
So maybe it all started in 2008, when YN and Pato were in second grade and met on the playground at recess. YN was sitting on the swings reading a book when Pato approached her, he was new to San Antonio and didn’t have any friends, and wanted to know if they could be friends. From then on the two were inseparable. Pato was a daredevil at heart, and would often hurt himself, and YN would take the delicate time of walking him to the school nurse and kissing his injuries better. Pato always made YN laugh, and made sure she was never sad, no matter what happened in YN’s life, Pato was there everyday to make her smile.
As they got older their relationship changed, it lost a little bit of their childish innocence, but they grew so much closer. YN was at Pato’s first win in karting, and she was more excited than he was. When YN’s childhood dog died, Pato was at her house at 6:00 AM and spent the whole day with her, trying to cheer her up. They’d even started their own holiday traditions, every year on Christmas Eve, the two of them spent the day making cookies together and exchanged presents. YN had practically become family, she didn’t have the best home life, and the entire O’Ward family was so loving that she ended up spending more time with them than her actual family.
The two dated for a few months in eighth grade, and were each other’s first kiss, but when Pato began racing for F4 and was in France every weekend the two agreed it was best they just stayed friends. Since then that is all they had been, things in YN’s home got significantly worse as they went through high school and despite whatever Pato may have felt, he knew she needed his friendship and wasn’t willing to risk their relationship.
With Pato coming up through Indycar and YN being a full time student and having a job, it was easy to assume the two would drift after high school, that was never the case. They still saw each other everytime Pato was in Texas and Pato made sure YN made a couple of races every year. She remained his biggest supporter as he went from her hometown best friend to the most popular driver in Indycar.
Fast forward to now, things were going pretty perfect for Pato. He finally won the 500, he’s about to win the championship, and he’s got a great girlfriend, Maria. He figures he’ll marry her, he does love her, she’s supportive and nice and insanely hot. They’ve been dating for over a year and things have been going really well. The only time they’ve ever really fought is over YN, when she found out there was a “history” between them, and in hindsight Pato realizes maybe he should’ve told her sooner, but he never really thought about it. Yeah they’d dated for a few months a lifetime ago, but she’s always just been his YN, he doesn’t even think of her like that anymore. YN was one of the most sure things in his life, and sure for awhile he always thought what if?, but that was in the past.
All that being said, he didn’t think twice about inviting her to Nashville to watch him possibly win the championship. YN wasn’t able to make it to the 500, or any other race this year, and he wished she was there. She knew more than anyone how much this had meant to him, coming up after losses she was always the person he went to, and he wanted her to see him now that it had all been worth it. YN was reluctant to come, but after a lot of begging from Pato she agreed.
Thursday night he made sure everyone he invited out came to dinner with him at a steakhouse. There were 20 people at the restaurant, but Pato ended up with Maria sitting next to him and YN sitting across next to Elba. Maybe Pato should’ve realized it, the tension in her shoulders and how Maria’s smile tightened as he laughed at YN’s jokes, but he didn’t. So Maria sat there all night, and she really tried to be understanding, but she felt as if she was third-wheeling her own relationship. She had to listen to a million inside jokes she didn’t understand, and watch as his family fawned over YN.
It was at that dinner she realized that she’d spent a year dating a taken man. Pato was too good of a man, she knew he wasn’t doing it on purpose, but it became undeniable. As she watched him, she realized everything she felt for him, he felt for the woman across the table. At first she felt possessive, the need to prove that he was her partner, and that no matter what he’d chosen her over YN, but as time passed she felt less possessive and realized that there was no way to continue the relationship. It wasn’t fair to her, she deserved a man who loved her and only her, and Pato deserved to be with the person he loves.
After the dinner, they headed back to the hotel where Pato, who was utterly clueless of her realization, continued to be the perfect man, only making it so much harder for Maria to leave. She didn’t know how long she should let it go on for, if she broke things off now would she be getting in his head and ruining the weekend for him? Would continuing a relationship she’s already checking out of be just as cruel? Could she stand the rest of the weekend watching her boyfriend making heart eyes at another woman?
After sleeping on it, or rather not sleeping very much at all, she’d come to the conclusion that a clean break was best for everyone. They ordered breakfast to the room and as they sat at the small dinette she knew she had to bring it up.
Pato was halfway done with his breakfast, but she hadn’t eaten much at all, mostly just pushing her food around with her fork. “Pato, I think we need to talk.”
It’s rare that she’s this serious, and Pato knows that can’t be good, his silverware clatters as he sets it down and looks up at her. “Uh oh, what’s wrong?”
She hesitates for a moment, not knowing the best way to start the conversation. “It’s YN.”
Pato’s shocked, he doesn’t know what he expected but it wasn’t that, “What about YN?”
She figures there’s no reason to beat around the bush, “You’re in love with her.”
Pato’s a lot of things, surprised for sure, but also shockingly defensive and angry. “What? Babe, that’s ridiculous. I know you were upset about us in middle school, but I swear there’s nothing going on! I would never even think about cheating on you!”
She rested her hand on top of his, “I know you would never cheat on me, and I know you said there’s nothing and I believe you, but I saw the way you looked at her, and how she fit into your life, and it makes so much sense because you love her.”
Pato doesn’t really know what to say to that, “I love you.”
“But you are in love with her. Listen I love you, Pato, and you’re such a good man, but it’s not fair to either of us to continue this relationship. Not when your heart clearly isn’t in it.” Maria struggles over her words, voice cracking and eyes watering, but a soft smile is on her face as she says them.
“Are you saying what I think you are? You’re just giving up?”
“Pato, I’m letting you free, tell her how you feel, you deserve that kind of love.”
And maybe what she’s saying finally resonates with him because the best thing he says is, “I never meant to hurt you.”
She lets out a broken laugh at that, a single tear rolling down her face, “Oh, Pato, you never could, we aren’t meant for each other, but we still had a lot of fun, right?” He nods at her.
After that she’s on a plane and back to her home before he knows it. Pato’s sad, he feels a little empty, someone who had been such a big part in his life just walked out leaving the biggest mess in her wake. He thought about her words, but shook them off. He loved YN, of course he did, but it wasn’t like that, she was like a sister to him.
Although it’s not his sister he messages asking if she wants to come over. YN is at his hotel room within a minute of him sending the “you busy?” text. YN asks where Maria is, but all he has to say is “gone.” and YN knows to drop it.
YN knows him better than anyone, knows that he has an irrational fear of being destined to fail at every relationship. She knows he has never actually broken up with a girl, only ever been broken up with, and she knows he spent over two years single because he was afraid of being hurt. But she also knows that there’s no way anyone could spend more than an hour with him and not be in love with him, God knows she is.
It’s the way he knows her, inside and out, but it’s also the way he makes everyone around him laugh, and spends hours interacting with his fans to make them all happy, and how caring he is with animals and babies. YN is only human, how is she supposed to feel when her insanely attractive best friend is doting over her niece?
YN puts it all aside because she’s his best friend first, she’d made that promise to herself a long time ago and she’s always kept it. She sits with him and watches Friends reruns with him, he’ll talk when he wants to, but until then she’ll be by his side.
They don’t end up talking, the one good channel the hotel room has switches from Friends to Modern Family, and then Pato has to go practice. A quick google search helps her find the best tacos in Nashville, so while he’s gone she runs out to get them dinner. They had dinner plans with his parents and Elba, but YN texted Elba long ago to let her know that plans were changing. He’s a superstar, so of course he doesn’t let his life affect him and it still the fastest person in the first practice, YN thinks that’s a good sign.
When he returns he seems to be a little better, talking to YN about track conditions over their dinner. YN has had enough of waiting for Pato to bring it up, and she can tell he’s feeling better, so she has to work up the courage to ask him what happened.
“Are you going to tell me what happened with Maria or am I supposed to guess?”
His smile drops, turning into one that’s much smaller and forced. “She just left.”
“No explanation? She just woke up and was gone?”
“Oh, she had an explanation but it was bullshit. She probably just got tired of me, it's no big deal.”
YN furrows her brows at that. “Pato stop it, you’re so great anyone would be so lucky to be with you. Maybe there was some merit behind what she said.”
“Well she said I was in love with you, but I told her so many times we’re just friends and that’s all we’ll ever be.”
YN’s stomach sinks at that, it’s not like she expected him to confess his love, but he didn’t need to friendzone her that hard. “Oh.” Is all she can think to say.
“I mean you’re great, but you’re like a sister to me!”
YN forces out a laugh, “Right.” She also can’t help but feel like maybe it’s her fault this all happened, was her pining really that obvious? “Well then, she’s stupid for leaving because she’s not going to find anyone better.”
Pato’s smile is genuine for the first time since the conversation started, “Thank you, you’re the best friend I could’ve asked for.”
“Right, and don’t forget that when you’re trying to figure out what to do with all your championship earnings.”
He lets out a real laugh at that, a stark contrast to how mopey he’d been the rest of the day. “One, greedy, and two, I’m not buying you anything else. I'm tired of you getting mad when I spend money on you.”
“Pato, a graduation gift is fifty bucks, not a two thousand dollar tennis bracelet.”
He leans back in his seat and shrugs, smirking as he says, “Yet I’ve never seen you not wearing the bracelet.”
YN’s eyes go to her wrist where, sure enough, the bracelet was, just like everyday for the past three years. When Pato gave her the bracelet she refused to take it, saying it was too much and he needed to return it. After arguing for ten minutes she thought he’d finally agreed to take the bracelet back, but found it later sitting on her dresser. “What can I say? You have good taste.”
The rest of the night mirrored the morning, but had a much different tone, the two of them sat sprawled out on the couch quoting the episodes of Friends that were on, having seen them so many times they were known by heart.
When YN went to her own hotel room Pato realized how empty the place felt again, something he hadn’t noticed all day. He chose not to think too hard about how effortlessly YN took up space in his life.
The next morning, Pato had already scheduled to have everyone meet in the lobby so he could take them to the track for the day. YN had clearly told everyone about Maria because despite some odd looks no one asked about her and he was grateful for that. He didn’t think twice when everyone began to split into different cars and he pulled YN along with him, or when they arrived at the track and Pato sent most people up into a suite, but brought YN and his immediate family to the pits. Maybe that’s how it’s always been, and how it’s supposed to be.
Pato gets swept up in work for the rest of the day and YN gets to spend some real time with her second family. As soon as they’re alone, Elba doesn’t hesitate to start interrogating her.
“What happened with Maria?”
“Apparently she told Pato he’s in love with me and just left.” YN shrugs as she says it, still a little puzzled by the whole thing.
“Huh.”
“What? No ‘huh’ I know what that means just tell me what you’re thinking.”
“I just thought Maria knew by now and didn’t care, maybe she’s not as smart as I gave her credit for.”
“What do you mean? Knew what?”
“Come on, YN, Pato’s been in love with you since you were nine, I wouldn’t want to be dating him.”
YN is struggling to process what she’s hearing, and automatically turns to deflection. “He is not.”
“Oh my god.” Elba starts giggling maniacally.
YN has no clue what could be funny, “What!?”
“You’re in love with him too!”
“I am not!” Despite her refusal, YN can feel and Elba can see the heat rising up her neck.
“You totally are! All this time I thought you had to know it’s so obvious, I mean, he follows you around like a puppy, but you had no idea!”
“Ok, keep your voice down.” YN puts her hand over Elba’s mouth really not wanting anyone else to hear their conversation. “Even if I did like him, and I’m not saying I do, he does not feel the same. I mean you should’ve heard how hard he friendzoned me yesterday.”
Elba looks sympathetic then, “Babe, I think my brother has spent so long denying himself what he wants he doesn’t even know what that is anymore. I love him dearly, but relationships are not his strong suit.”
“Then I guess we’re at a stalemate because I am certainly not going to be the one to ruin our friendship.”
Elba’s exasperated, “Oh my god, you two are exhausting!”
By the time Elba finished her intervention, qualifying finished resulting in Pato getting the pole. Mclaren has been dominant the last few weekends, and this weekend is no different with all three cars in the fast six. Pato is in the driver’s lot, getting ready to head back to the hotel, everyone else had dispersed from the track, and Felix has tracked down Pato and is calling after him.
“Hey, Felix! What’s up?”
“Bro, you’re about to win this fucking thing.” There’s nothing but excitement from Felix for his best friend.
“I know, I just hope tomorrow is a clean race and we can bring this thing home.”
“You’ve got this, I know it. Hey, where’s Maria been all day?” Felix says it like he’s just realizing she’s not around.
“Who knows. Yesterday morning she woke up determined that I’m secretly in love with YN and got on the next plane out.”
“So you guys are done?”
“Yeah about as done as you can be.”
“And YN?”
“YN is my best friend.”
“No, I'm your best friend.”
“Sorry, Fro, even you lose to YN.”
“I don’t want to win what YN is winning.”
Pato rolls his eyes and stomps his foot, huffing, “And what exactly is YN winning?”
Felix puts his hands up in self-defense, “Listen, all I’m saying is if you looked at me like you do YN, I think Emille would feel threatened.”
“Very funny.” Pato kicks the ground, staring at his shoe, he thinks about his relationship with Felix versus his with YN, sure it’s different, but him and YN have so much history. “Look, I don’t know what I feel for YN, but I don’t care either because she’s too important as a friend for me to lose her.”
“Mate you’ve been practically dating for years, I don’t think making it official will ruin anything.”
With that last piece of advice Felix takes off, leaving Pato alone with his thoughts. The whole drive back to the hotel and the rest of the night he spent thinking about YN. If everyone closest to him is saying one thing, how could they all be wrong? He thinks about everything they’ve been through together.
His first win in karting when she was the first person he ran to when he got out of the car; how she comes to every family reunion and often traveled to Mexico to spend time with his family; their senior prom when she was sad about not having a date, but she was the most gorgeous woman he’d ever seen that night; except for Christmas mornings when she’s in her pajamas and he gets to watch her eyes light up as they answer presents together. Maybe it’s been in front of him all along. What’s been missing from all of his other relationships has been right there.
It’s a lot to take in, but it doesn’t really matter because, like he told Felix, he wouldn’t risk their friendship if she doesn’t feel the same. He can handle a trail of failed relationships, but he could never handle losing YN. He went to bed that night knowing he had to just focus on the race and on bringing home the championship.
The next morning he’s awoken by a knock on the door. “Patricio! Open up, room service!”
He knows who’s behind the door before he opens it, there’s only one person who cares enough to bring him breakfast. When he lets YN in he sees the bag full of takeout food from a nearby diner. “Breakfast of champions, for the champion.”
Of course she’s already decided he’s a champion before the race. No one has ever believed in him as much as her. “Calm down, I don't want you to jinx me.”
“Au contraire my friend, a jinx would mean you’re winning by luck, and you are winning by sheer talent.”
It always amazes him how smart she is in the morning, he knows no more than 5 words for a solid hour after waking up, and she’s always speaking a million words a minute. “7AM is too early to be speaking another language.”
“Aw, pobrecito, ¿estás cansado?” She knew very minimal spanish, but had picked some up from time spent with his family, and used it pretty exclusively to tease him.
“You’re so not funny my brain hurts.” He is slouched over the table with his head resting on his arms.
She begins to unpack the food in front of him, “Alright, come on, time to wake up you’ve got a big day.”
The smell of eggs and bacon is what gets him to lift his head and start eating. He tries not to focus on the fact that she got him exactly what he eats every race day because that’s a can of worms he doesn’t want to touch. Regardless he eats the meal, and is sad when she pulls out her pancakes and begins to eat with him. She offers him a bite which he takes, but they both know he won’t eat any more than that because he doesn’t like big meals before a race.
After they finish, YN starts picking up their trash and Pato thanks her, “You take such good care of me, can’t believe you brought me breakfast I’m not worthy.” She’s glad for her back being turned to him because she can feel how much she’s blushing.
The rest of the day goes by in a blur, leave it to YN to be the eye in his hurricane, bringing calm before the storm. The race was close, a shitty pit stop meant Pato had to make some big passes to make up position, but Pato ended up pulling away with the final race win of the season and the championship.
YN and Elba leave the suite a few laps early so they can be on pit lane when he gets the win. After his victory lap and celebratory donuts he pulls into pit lane. Immediately his crew is flooding around him as he struggles to get out. Once he does there’s a giant group hug around Pato. Rossi and Fro also both make their way to his pits to congratulate him.
When Felix pulls Pato into a hug he whispers into his ear, “Why haven’t you gone to your girl yet, she’s waiting for you.”
Felix’s words had weight to them, all these people were surrounding him, but none of them had been on this journey with him as long as her. She waited for him for the last 15 years while he chased a career and different women, and now he’s at the peak of his career, having everything he ever wanted, and she’s not the one by his side. It hits him like a ton of bricks how bad he wants her to be the one celebrating this win with him, and every win for the rest of his life. Walking over to YN he pulls her into a hug, hoping that everything he’s feeling can be conveyed through the touch.
YN is in his ear, “I’m so proud of you, I always knew you could do it.”
He can’t find the right words, so all he says is, “I’m so glad you’re here.” he’ll explain later.
Holding her in front of thousands of people, Pato isn’t scared of losing their friendship anymore. He’s not sure of a lot, but he knows they’ll be ok, and that he’s loved her since before he knew what love was.

The house that stands.
pairings: Vanessa shelly/Reader.
summary: your wife comes home late.
word count: 2.1k
warnings: 18+ ONLY, toxic past relationships, reader has a toxic ex (not vanessa), abuse mentioned, gun mentioned, blood mentions, smut, childhood trauma, trauma in general, possessive behavior, make up s/x, vaginal s/x, oral s/x, switch reader, switch vanessa, face fucking, face sitting, fluff moments.
Your wife, Vanessa, was very much late.
And you were starting to get impatient.
As if you weren’t already that, stressing, worrying over her was kind of your job too.
She said she’d be back home by eleven pm the latest, it’s now one am. You wonder if she’s feeling the exact panic knowing the storm she’s going to be greeted with at the door when she arrives. She knows you’ll stay up for her, it doesn’t matter how tired either of you are, she’ll stay up for you as well. Though you’re now working from home sometimes instead of the office, you get to see her more. She always makes time for you regardless of her busy tight schedule. But sometimes, Vanessa gets stubborn, fixated, too focused, she’s a workaholic, like you.
You don’t really support her career type, being a police officer in all. Sure, you understand her mentality and the need of saving other people from harm. You didn’t really care about any of that, all the other people, you cared about her, the harm that will come her way with the danger she puts herself in all for the sake of another person’s life. Okay, maybe you sound like an asshole, but at the same time, you don’t care. She’s yours, you’re hers, it's as simple as that. You’ve never really had anyone like Vanessa in your life, before she came, your life was black and white, shitty. Day by day. And yet someone like her, found your way inside your heart and it made everything better, made all the bad days worth it.
As long as she was there.
You know she’s got a dark past that she doesn’t like talking about to anyone else except you. You’ll die with it close to your heart before anyone fucks with her. She’s been through hell, you thought your life was bad, after hearing about hers, that changed your mind.
You know she still goes back to that same place, that fucking resuturant. Where unspeakable evil went down and she was a witness to all of that.
All of that still messes with her. You’re not sure how anyone can really recover from all of that shit as a kid, you know she’s stubborn though, she can be put through the worst hell ever and still come out of it acting like it wasn’t that big of a deal.
The first time you met her with more bittersweet than the second counter. Your ex at the time was well… something. Vanessa definitely made it clear she wasn’t a fan of him when your next door neighbour at the time (a nice old lady in her 70s named Rose who was the loveliest to you and everyone) called the cops in a worry after hearing screams from your house and the sounds of crashing and shouting etc. It wasn’t a good first impression you were proud of. You had no idea the impact Vanessa would have on your life from that point thanks to that one call.
Your ex had never put his hands on you. At least not at first. You weren’t always interested in the marriage life, having kids, to make everyone in your family happy, the traditional crappy ways that were forced upon us since kids.
But you thought this was a good thing. Marrying that once upon a time sweet kid you’ve known since your childhood days. Where everything was sunnier and better.
You were so wrong.
Oh how wrong you were.
Maybe you should have just ran away when you had the chance too, it would have made all of this much easier to deal with.
Maybe Vanessa was sent to your door that night when she was called from the station, no one else would go, not caring about having to deal with the same relationship issues and drama. They were used to it. You were grateful she came.
Because the next time you saw her, you had blood in your hands, your ex gone, as she held you close.
And it was the first time in a long time you felt like you were home.
You never wanted to leave.
Still laying in your shared bed, the curtains closed, your lamp turned on, you were still cold despite the warmth of the fire in the living room and the many blankets you have that Vanessa likes to put on the bed for you both.
Her side of the bed was still empty.
You needed her.
You placed your book down, taking your phone off the bedside table as you unlocked it, going to her contacts.
Where are you? It’s been two hours already. Come home.
Sent thirty minutes ago.
Vanessa i do not care if you are out patrolling you can get your ass back home to bed otherwise you’re on the damn couch.
Sent forty minutes ago.
(you didn’t mean the couch part.)
Vanessa Shelly, if i have to make more texts come to your unanswered phone that goes over fifty I swear to god you’ll wish you looked at that damn phone.
Sent an hour ago.
You scrolled through the texts, the last one she sent you was the ‘I love you’ and ‘text me if you need anything, baby’.
Well, you needed her, so you texted her, why isn’t she answering?.
You missed her touch, her smile, her laughter, her beautiful hazel eyes that cause you to melt everytime she stares at you, you missed her warmth, how she holds you, how she kisses you.
That’s when you heard it.
The sound of the front door turning, your head shot up as your blood ran cold. She always and always texts before she comes home. You grabbed the gun she gave you for only safety reasons and used if necessary, as she’d hate to see you hurt yourself. You only have to use it to scare them away. Tonight you weren’t in the mood.
Getting out of bed, you quietly walked to the front door, making sure not to make too much noise.
You hide where you know you won’t be seen unless they know exactly where to find you. As the door opens, making a creaking sound, you stay silent, not moving just yet, the gun stil in your hand.
Before you know it, you sneaked up behind them, pointing the gun to their head.
“Get the fuck out of my house” you said, voice stern as you didn’t move at all, not wanting to show your fear.
You couldn’t tell who it was from the jacket they were wearing that covered their face and back of their head.
“Wait! Baby it’s me, don’t shoot!” they abruptly said, turning around in slight shock as you were met with the eyes of your wife vanessa.
You frowned, throwing a pillow at her.
“You asshole! I almost shot you” you shouted.
Her lips curled into a smile as she couldn’t help the laugh that broke out.
“I just wanted to surprise you! I didn’t mean for the scare” she laughed, you shook your head at her, placing down the gun as your hand was on your hip.
“Did I say you were an asshole?” you muttered, slightly annoyed.
She smiled, stepping closer as she grabbed you by the waist, pulling you in.
“I missed you” she sighed, relaxing into your arms as your body slowly became less tense.
“Hmm, wanna tell me why you were two hours late?” you asked, raising an eyebrow at her.
She pouted.
“And don’t you dare use the job as an excuse” you said.
“- it was that! You know how busy I am, baby” she protests, stuttering a bit.
She knew you weren’t convinced.
“Okay, I’m gonna give you tonight on that couch to spend on without me and showers alone if you don’t fess up.”
She purses her lips together, you got her there.
“I didn’t want to tell you… But I may have been going back to freddys-”
She saw your eyes widened at the mention of that, neither of you ever spoke of that hell hole.
Before you scowled her, she continues.
“For a good reason! Baby, there's a new security guard there. I know we agreed to never speak about that place, but hes a good guy, I think. He has a little sister, and um, they wanna meet you.”
She looked so cute becoming a stuttering mess as you stared her down.
“My love, my beloved, my stupid wife. I love you, i’d die for you, but I’ll never step foot in that fucking place and I’m mad you had the audacity to think it was okay to fucking go there in the first place!” you
She looked at you sheepishly, knowing she was in big trouble, her cheeks turning pink as she began to fidget with the end of her sleeve.
“I don’t know why you thought it was a good idea to go back, I don’t give a damn about who that security guard is, did you tell him to leave that place alone? That he should just find a better job at a bar?” you questioned, “I know you have good intentions, my love, but we don’t know who this man is, why he agreed to work there, ugh I just-” you sighed, closing your eyes as you realise you sounded like an asshole.
There was a brief moment of silence as Vanessa knew you were trying to collect your thoughts to put them into the words you wanted to say to her. But you were all over the place. She reached her hand out, slowly, and touched your shoulder.
“I’m sorry, I truly am. I know you just care about me and you don’t want anything bad happening to me because of that place. Baby, I just-” she paused, biting down on her lip. “I wanna help them, you’re right, they shouldn’t be there at all, no one should. He has a little sister, who was the same age around the time I was when I lost them…” her voice slightly cracked, her eyes getting watery, you stared up at her, your face softening as you pulled her close, your hand caressing her cheek.
"Shhh, I understand. That’s why I love you. You’ll help anyone. Even if I don’t exactly like the dangers that come with that, that’s who you are. I love you, all of you. But please, for the love of god, do not keep anything from me or you’ll be worrying about me instead of safety from others.”
She nodded, giving a small smile as you leaned in, pressing your lips to hers. She kissed back, wrapping her arms around you as she slipped her tongue inside your mouth, grinning when she heard you gasp and moan that escape you.
“Let me make it up to you” she whispered into your ear after she pulled away, making you whine.
You stared into her gaze, not breaking eye contact.
“Bedroom, now” you demanded, and unexpectedly, she picks you up into bridal style, causing you to smile as you kiss her again and again, you soon feel the mattress underneath you as she crawls on top.
Vanessa lifted your shirt, you weren’t wearing much anyways as you were originally heading to bed, with only your underwear on and her shirt. She looks up at you as she places kisses along your skin, on the inside of your thighs, and to your lower abdomen, anywhere she could get. She wanted to kiss all of you, taking you in her mouth.
She did just that. Your hand gripping her blonde hair as the room filing with the sounds of your moans as your other hand gripped at the sheets, her tongue licking at your cunt as she works her mouth on you, just the way that drives you crazy. Your chest heaves up and down as you fuck yourself on her face, eyes rolling to the back of your head when she hits that sweet spot, rubbing the tip of her tongue in circles on your clit, making your body shake from the pleasure.
She wasn’t done just yet.
As you come into her mouth, crying her name out as she licks you all up. God, she looked so beautiful, her hair a mess, her chin dripping with your juices as she looked drunk of it.
She wanted to give you everything you deserved and more.
Pulling away, she doesn’t wipe the mess from her mouth off as she leans up, her face inches away from yours as she kisses you, you taste yourself on her lips.
You lean back with a grin, still gripping her chin, she looks heavenly, she’s all yours.

Body a Day #6: Mirror
Milo was the successful CEO of an established tech company. Blessed with three beautiful children, he lived life with no care in the world. It was only when he, deep into his 50’s yet still looking and feeling virile, went to the doctor’s that he discovered that he was going to die.
“It’s terminal,” said the doctor, offering his deepest condolences as he broke the news. He continued on, giving him an explanation regarding the illness, but Milo wasn't listening. His mind was still racing. He only responded when the doctor asked, “Would you like us to contact your family members?”
“No thank you, doctor. I have… a procedure for this. Family tradition, to be exact,” said Milo as he stared off into the distance. He thanked the staff and made his way home, glancing at himself in every passing reflection he could.
Arriving home in his penthouse suite, Milo sat down on his couch with a drink in hand. He stared out into the city skyline on a perfect sunset. On a normal day, he wouldn’t have given it a second glance. Now, all he could do was stare, transfixed by the transient sight, lost in his thoughts.
Which of my sons should I leave my inheritance to?
Milo was a father of three, but the youngest child, a girl by the name of Melanie, was not an option. That left two options: Matthew—who preferred Matt—and Mortimer—who didn’t like to be called Mort.
“Matthew’s a strong candidate, but Mort has his own little charms,” Milo muttered to himself, hoping that the crackling of the fire on his TV screen would help his concentration. He swirled a wine glass filled with a sugary grape juice as he hummed to himself. He wasn’t thinking particularly hard, but he figured that this was what all great thinkers usually looked like before getting hit by an epiphany, so there was merit to copying them in his current dilemma.
And yet, Milo found himself far too indecisive. After going through an entire jug of grape juice, he wandered over to his bathroom and began to monologue to his attractive face in the mirror. “Oh, my dying self,” he began, thinking back to his past as a theater actor. What should happen to my darling company and all my struggles? Will they vanish to the wind, nothing but hollow husks as they erode into dust?” He continued for quite a while before leaning into the mirror and giving it a quick kiss. “Oh, only you could understand someone like me…”
It had only been a few years since the entity was reborn as Milo. It wasn’t difficult to take over the rich CEO, but if he had known that Milo’s body would expire so quickly, he would’ve taken over one of the rotten kids earlier. Mel was still in college, but Matthew and Mort were already in high positions in the companies that Milo owned. They were set for life. However, Milo’s indecisiveness often held him back from just making a choice and doing it. Hell, taking over Milo was a choice that took about a week between him and his business partner, Niles.
Both were attractive, but after seeing Milo lounging around the steps on the company, the entity made its choice.
While the (relatively) brief period of time as Milo was great, part of that was thanks to all the cumshots Niles had pumped into his aged yet virile ass, now that it was coming to an end, Milo found himself in despair.
That was when the epiphany finally struck. Milo ran towards his room and gathered the necessary materials for the ritual. It only took about an hour to arrange everything properly. The candles were lit, the blood (hidden beneath a secret compartment in the freezer) was used and evaporated properly, and soon a burst of magic echoed into the night. Milo’s magic always looked like purple mist that smelled faintly of lavender.
“So, my other self,” Milo said, grinning at his own reflection. “Which one of my children do you wish to give your inheritance to?”
“Mmm…” said the other Milo, although it was ridiculous for them to be referred to as the ‘other.’ They weren’t two halves of a whole, but two congruent images of a soul. It was Milo and Milo. Any differences were quirks in the spellcraft and little more. “It’s amazing how we’ve ended up twice as indecisive with two of us. So instead, how about we flip a coin?”
Fate was a harsh mistress, but when looking at it from the perspective of ‘one Milo per son,’ then there was no reason for either of them to complain.
Matthew sounded excited when Milo dialed him up on the phone. “I’ll be right over there, my dear father,” he said with a honeyed yet forced voice. He was kind, considerate, and prideful to a fault; he was always so sure that his kind demeanor and charisma would give him a golden ticket through life, ignoring just how much of his father’s fortune and influence allowed him to fly through life.
There was a bit of guilt for Milo, as he had genuinely grown attached to these children that weren’t his, but he didn’t want to die. He had never died while possessing a host, and he didn’t want to risk the consequences of doing so. The worst thought was being trapped inside the dead host, unable to escape the prison of flesh as it slowly rotted away… turning into dust like that of Ozymondias’ kingdom.
Ash to ash… dust to dust… Those words always made a shudder creep down his spine. It was nerve-wracking. Horrifying. No, Milo needed to do this. They needed to do this. “Relax, myself,” his reflection assured him, smiling despite the anxiety in his eyes. “You u are no loonger alone. If one of us were to perish, the other would save him. Remember that, okay?” he said with a wink.
Milo nodded and waited for Matthew to arrive. When he did, Milo wasted no time guiding him towards his room, where a special mirror was awaiting him. As Matthew walked inside, he asked, “Why in your room, dad?” He looked around and took a quick whiff. “Hmm… it’s a nice smell. Is that… orange…?” Amazingly, Matthew wandered the room on his own, looking around various trinkets and decorations that Milo had gathered even since taking on his most recent host. “You’ve got quite the odd collection, dad. It’s… uh… huh…?” It was inevitable, but he walked right in front of the mirror.
“Must be a strange sight, huh?” said Milo, leaning against the door frame and shooting out an email from his phone. A bright light flooded the room, which made him glad that he wasn’t looking directly at it. He could hear a panicked scream from the eldest son, but Milo just shrugged and continued to look away. He knew that Matthew saw his father’s reflection instead of his own, and then saw the same image burst out of the mirror and flood his younger and more virile body.
“Quick, to the mirror!” Milo’s other half, now Matthew, cried out. For whatever reason—perhaps a fundamental law of the universe—Milo could feel his essence beginning to vanish. Was it because he was lacking a reflection? Most likely. But Milo didn’t have much time to think. He uttered a quick incantion and then jumped through the glass as though it was a pool of water. Immediately, the sensation of his very molecules being pulled apart as though being ravaged by some invisible, fearsome beast. “Phew, that was close,” said Matthew as he looked down at the panting, sweaty mess that was Milo.
“Sh-Shut up…”
“Hey, you’re alive, right?” grinned Matthew. “All right, I’m gonna give Mort a call and get him to come by. In the meantime, sit tight and get ready, ok?”
Milo sat up and looked around. Anything that was beyond what the mirror reflected was just a gray, foggy void. Essentially, he was trapped in that small pocket of a reflection until someone else looked into the enchanted mirror. “Not like I have much of a choice,” he said, looking down to see a phone with all the numbers and symbols mirrored, making it difficult to read. It also lacked any reception, which made enough sense to piss Milo off. “Just don’t take too long. Hey! Pay attention!” he shouted as the new Matthew began to strip and check out his new, stolen goods.
It took far too long to get Matthew back in control. Maybe I really should’ve recommended for him to get tested for ADHD. I had my suspicions when I took over his father for the first time, thought Milo, reflection on the oldest son’s behavior once more. But eventually Matthew dialed up Mort’s number, who picked up with his usual greeting. “Don’t call me Mort,” he said just before Matthew eagerly greeted him with a “Heya, Mort!”
The two went back and forth, and Milo, despite being in what was essentially a reality away, could still make out most of what Mort said due to all the exasperated yelling. Matthew went wildly off-script, but all it took was a mention that he was over at Milo’s place talking business for Mort to suddenly cry out, “I’m on my way! Hold up.”
Milo and Matthew shared amused smirks and awaited the middle son’s arrival. They didn’t have to wait long. Mort arrived just 20 minutes later, panting and sweay from most likely running up the stairs—forgoing the building’s elevator. “Where’s dad?!” he cried, pushing past his brother and stomping around the apartment. Matthew gestured towards Milo’s open room door, and Mort rushed inside. “Father, I have my reservations regarding—the fuck…? W-Woah, AHHH!”
~o~
Months after Milo’s funeral, Melanie found herself enjoying a family dinner for the first time in what felt like decades. The siblings had gone out for dinner and not a single fight occurred the entire meal! Melanie could feel her blood pressure lowering the more she found herself engaged pleasant talk with her siblings. They smiled, joked, and showed that they were listening to her stories. Not longer did they roll their eyes, check their phones, or just not even bother paying attention to her and instead bring up complicated business deals and numbers to each other, pointedly ignoring her.
After the meal, the three returned to Matt’s home and played a few cards game. Melanie found herself on a bit of a lucky streak by the end of night, managing to get to 21 during the last few rounds of Blackjack.
“It’s been frankly amazing!” she said to her siblings as they walked her to her husband’s car. “I can’t remember the last time we had so much fun. I…” she paused and choked back a sob. Matt pulled her in for a side-hug while Mort told her that the two of them promised each other that they’d get along better.
“Dad wouldn’t have wanted us to keep on fighting,” he told her, smiling with eyes twinging with regret. “Just wish he could see us getting along better.”
Melanie reached out and gripped Mort’s hand. “Something tells me that he can. And I’m sure he’s proudly looking down on us. Thanks for everything, you two. Good night.” With those parting words, Melanie joined her husband. She didn’t notice the knowing look Matt and Mort gave each other.
“Well my dear brother,” began Matt as he looked through his closet. After the funeral, Matt made sure to take all of his old clothes from his days as Milo. No reason to let such fashionable fabrics go to waster, after all. “Glad we made our dear sister smile again. I think tonight was a Mission Accomplished. Oooh, I think this one fits the new me,” he said as he put on a floral-patterned Hawaiian shirt, unbuttoned of course, and a pair of cargo shorts. He showed them off to Mort, making sure to flex to show off his core muscles. “I think the try-hard, sweat-lord life is behind me now that my dad has passed on and left so much money and influence to me. It’s time to just relax and cruise on by.”
Mort chuckled as he stripped off most of his shoes, content with just a pair of briefs that snugly hugged his crotch. “Of course, dear brother… my other half…” he said, lying back and letting out a relaxed sigh. “These bodies of ours were so exhausted when we got to them. They deserve a vacation, don’t they?”
Matt climbed on the bed and lied on top of Mort’s, who let out a moan. “That they do, Mort. So let’s give it to them.” They pulled each other close and kissed. Their hands went wild as they explored each other’s body for what could’ve easily been the 20th time, their lustful expressions identical. For once, Matt and Mort were equals in the other’s eyes; they became mirrored halves that made the other whole.

Homecoming [Jake Seresin x Reader] Chapter 3
Summary: Returning home to California after six years abroad in England, you found everything has changed. Jake Seresin, your father's former college roommate and lifelong best friend, is now a widower and has purchased a new vineyard in Montecito, only a few miles from your childhood home. Your parents’ marriage is on the rocks, your brother is struggling with what to do with his life, and you’ve grown up and are starting your own counseling practice. So what happens when you find yourself falling for the man your father calls his best friend? And worse, what happens when your parents find out he’s falling for you, too?
Pairing: Jake Seresin x Reader
Warnings: Age gap, eventual smut, cursing, alcohol
Word count: 2K
Chapter overview: Y/N settles into her job at Jake's vineyard, and has a revelation about their relationship
Author's note: This fic references a significant age gap, as reader is the child of Jake's best friend. However, she's in her mid-twenties, and he's been only a small part of her life to this point as he spent the majority of his time traveling with his late wife. This fic does not depict grooming, but if you are concerned with any of the themes please read at your own risk.
Masterlist here
On your second week on the job, a drunken bachelorette smashed fifteen bottles of wine by toppling over a display case. Just as you were about to curse them out, Jake swooped in, one hand on your arm, a reassurance blanket.
“On the house,” he said with a grin and the girls swooned at him, forking over a 400% tip to try and cover the cost of the bottles. Jake let you keep it all.
“For the practice,” he said, holding a hand up, stopping you from pressing the cash into his palm.
“Jake, I can’t.”
“Take it,” he replied, insistent. “Please.”
By the time your one-month anniversary at the vineyard rolled around, Jake was letting you help plan weddings and events. The vineyard had a handful of different event packages, and you were up to your ears in paperwork.
“Knock knock.” Jake hovered in the doorway of your office. He had cleared out a spare room next to his office and made it yours. It fit a small desk and chair, and you relished the ability to go into your office and shut the door and close out the world.
“Hey. What’s up?”
“You’re working late.”
“Oh you know, my boss, he’s a real hard ass.”
Jake grinned, lowering his arms and folding them across his broad chest. “Yeah, heard of him, they say he’s a huge asshole.”
“And super ugly,” you replied.
Jake chuckled. “Just wanted to check in on the Mackenzie wedding. How’s that going?”
You sighed. “Remind me never to get married.”
He frowned. “Why is that?”
“Marriage seems OK, but weddings are the worst. It brings out everyone’s bad side.” You tilted your head. “What was your wedding like?”
“We didn’t have one.”
“What?”
He shrugged. “We were young, we wanted to save our money and travel. So we went to the San Francisco courthouse and eloped.”
“Do you regret it?”
“Not for a second.” He smiled. “You’re right, Sparky. Weddings aren’t for the bride and groom. They’re for family and friends. Sometimes it’s nice to keep it just about you.”
There was something in Jake’s gaze that you couldn’t read. Was he thinking about Jenny?
“I’ll see you tomorrow, Y/N,” Jake said softly. “Don’t stay too late, OK? If it’s too late to drive home, call me and I’ll pick you up.”
“I live fifteen minutes away,” you reminded him.
“Just call me, alright.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow, boss.”
He chuckled and shook his head. You found yourself watching him walk away.
***
“Let’s make quesadillas.”
You peeled your eyes open. Colin was standing in the corner of your room wearing a pair of swim trunks and no shirt. You sat up, rubbing your eyes. “You’re shitting me, right?”
“Come on.” He smirked. “Night swim and Mexican food. It’s tradition.”
“We’re not seventeen anymore, Colin,” you groaned. “I have work in the morning.”
“Jake will understand.”
“Doesn’t matter,” you replied. “I’m responsible now.”
He ripped the blanket off the bed and you shot up to seated, furious.
“Seriously?”
Colin grinned. “Come on. Live a little, sis.”
Ten minutes later, the two of you were eating quesadillas in the hot tub. You tipped your head back against the tile rim. “What are we doing out here?”
“Eating quesadillas.”
You rolled your eyes. “That’s not what I mean and you know it. We’ve barely talked since I got home. It’s been six weeks.”
“I’m busy. You’re busy.”
“I have a job. You work at the crab shack.” Colin, after nearly failing out of college twice, had taken an almost permanent job on the boardwalk. This time he was a fry cook at a seafood joint frequented by tourists.
“Don’t be such a snob, it doesn’t suit you.”
“Just like being an idiot doesn’t suit you.”
He shoved the rest of his quesadilla in his mouth and reached for yours. You were too slow – he grabbed it and forced it into his stuffed face. “Thanks.” It came out garbled and you watched a fleck of dried cheese land in the swirling water.
“Disgusting,” you said with a laugh. “I’m serious though. What are you doing? You can’t live with mom and dad forever.”
“You live with mom and dad.”
“For now.”
He crossed his arms over his chest. “Same.”
You sighed. “Fine. New subject.”
“So when do I get to see my little sis at her big grown up job?”
“The vineyard?” He nodded. “Whenever. Come any time, I’m always there.”
“With Jake.”
You frowned. “Yeah, with Jake.”
“Y/N.” He tipped his head. “He’s like, old. You know that, right?”
“What?” You were aghast. “I mean, yeah I know that. I’m not stupid.”
“He’s too old for you.”
“He’s Jake!” you countered. “He’s dad’s friend. He’s my boss.”
“Not once did you say you don’t want to date him.”
The truth in Colin’s words prickled your brain. He was right. You couldn’t say that and be telling the truth. Because the truth was, as the days went by, you were starting to see Jake differently, despite your best efforts. He was kind and he was generous and he had an affable attitude that charmed everyone, old and young, man or woman. He was easy to be with. He made things fun.
You shook your head. “Shut up, Colin.”
He laughed. There was something buried in that laugh. How many times had the two of you snuck out in the middle of the night for a swim? How many times had you heard his laugh, and known that he was going to unearth your secrets? Colin knew everything you did before you even did it.
***
“We need more sauvignon blanc on table three,” you said to the head waiter. He scampered toward the bar in the back, emerging a moment later with a frosty bottle of white, carefully cutting the metal wrapper tableside and popping the cork seamlessly.
“Relax.” Jake appeared from behind, looking relaxed in a suit in the way only a confident man in his forties could.
“I can’t,” you replied, eyes watching the bride and groom flit from table to table speaking with their guests. So far, nothing had gone wrong. At least, not in the front of the house. In the back, you had stopped three rounds of appetizers from being burned, and had to deal with a last minute rosé crisis.
“I hired you because I knew you’d do the job well,” he said. “But I want you to have fun, too.”
You shot him a glare and he smirked. “Fun? You think trying not to ruin someone’s wedding is fun?”
“Honey, once they get down the aisle, nothing could ruin it. I could go over there and puke on her dress and it would still be the best day of her life.”
“Don’t you dare.”
He chuckled. “Do me a favor, Sparky?”
“I’m not going to spill red wine on the mother of the groom just so you can have the last laugh.”
“Have a drink,” Jake replied. “And save me a dance.”
By the end of the night, you had eaten approximately fifteen balls of fried mac n cheese and had four glasses of champagne. As the last guests departed – the bride and groom had driven off in an antique Jaguar an hour earlier – you let out a sigh of relief.
“Great job guys,” you said to the crew as they filed out of the kitchen, backs sore, white servers aprons splattered with wine. Your neck was aching and so were your feet. All you wanted to do was go home, take off your wrap dress and take a hot shower before stumbling into a fluffy pile of white bed linens.
You had been surprised to learn that all of the vendors – the florist and the linen delivery and the chair rentals – would arrive the next morning to pack everything up. Somehow you had it in your mind that a wedding was ripped down the instant it was over. As if it was never there. But the reality was, the ghost of the wedding lived on through the night. In the quiet and the dark, the skeleton of everything remained.
As you turned, heading for the stairs, Jake emerged at the top of the stairs. “Clocking out?”
You nodded. “I need to sleep for one hundred years and quite possibly take the longest shower known to mankind.”
Jake carefully stepped down the marble stairway before landing at the bottom, only a foot from you. “Well if you do that, I’d have to fire you.”
Your face fell. “What?”
“You promised me a dance,” he added.
You frowned. “The musicians are gone. The wedding is over, Jake. And besides, my feet feel like they’re dying.”
“Take off your shoes.” There was something authoritative about how he said it. And despite your bed calling your name, you followed his orders, slipping off the tall heels, bare feet hitting the cold marble floor and you almost moaned in relief. Jake held out one hand and you took it, letting him lead you out onto the empty dance floor. He pulled out his phone, hitting a few buttons before music filled the air around you. “One dance,” he whispered.
“Yes, Jefe,” you replied and he smirked. Naturally, your fingertips reached for his, one hand tangled with his fingers, the other wound around his neck. Jake held your waist softly, pulling you in closer, until you could feel the heat of him on you.
“I couldn’t do this without you, Y/N.” You knew it was serious when he didn’t call you Sparky, the heinous nickname that had come from that one summer as a child when you had been determined to teach the dogs how to do tricks like the seals at the zoo, balancing balls on their noses and doing flips in the water. It ended horribly, and there went your dream of being a zoo performer.
“Yes you could,” you replied. “You did it before I came home. You’ll do it after.”
Jake’s grip tightened microscopically, but you felt it. Like he was grounding himself as the two of you swayed in the open space. “What would you say if I begged you not to leave?”
You looked up at him. The slight stubble across his jaw, the way his collar was pulled apart, a small tuft of chest hair peering through the top of the white shirt. “Jake, I—”
“I want the best for you, Y/N,” he interrupted. “I always have. But selfishly, I want you to myself, too. You make everything easier. You make everything better. And it’s been a long time since I felt like I could depend on anyone other than myself.”
“The clinic isn’t anywhere near done,” you replied. “I still have months of construction and paperwork and hiring people.”
“Just the thought of losing you.” He shook his head. “Sorry, I’m being selfish. I’m the adult here, I shouldn’t be putting so much pressure on you.”
You stopped dancing, dropping Jake’s hand and lifting it to his neck so that your fingertips closed behind his collar. Jake’s hands fell dutifully to your waist, large fingertips digging into the sides beneath your ribs. “I’m not a kid anymore,” you whispered. “I’m twenty five.”
Something passed between the two of you. You found yourself staring up at Jake, his algae green eyes, the way his lips were puckered slightly. The way he felt, hot, pressed against you.
And then it was over. Jake’s hands fell from your waist as he took a step back. “It’s late,” he said softly. “Can I drive you home?”
You frowned. “I drove myself. I’ll be fine.”
He turned toward the stairs, the music in his pocket shutting off abruptly. “Goodnight, Y/N.”
You watched his shoulders sag as he disappeared up the stairs. The thundering of your heart in your chest threatened to knock you over.

— he gets along surprisingly well with your parents. overall he’s just easygoing so your mom had always loved him. your dad on the other hand... not so much.
— made a somewhat bad first impression on your dad because he was lowkey nervous ???
— after that terrible first impression with your dad, somehow they started getting along so well at the next family gathering though. your dad is calling him mijo atp like ??? those two would sit and watch soccer together, laughing their ass off and actually being excited about the game– (you and your mom are clueless as to when and how they started bonding).

(“who even thought of this?” “just try it amor, oh my god.”) ++ big fan of jelly and condensed milk, chicken and honey + hot chocolate and cheese.
— he finds it so amusing how you’re able to communicate in different languages like How ?? that’s too complicated in his mind– he really does find it captivating.
— i just know he’d be so into novelas. unironically sits down and watches la rosa de guadalupe with you. he thinks the plots are actually insane and he gets such a good laugh out of it. he loooves it.

Could you pretend you love me? Pt.1
Soap x Fem Reader (single mom).
Let me introduce Mr. And Mrs. Blackwood, the newlyweds and new neighbors.
This is just the alibi, a false marriage with normal jobs and a normal and traditional family, Why? Oh, just to take a look at the enemy.
Warning: only grammatical and spelling errors. Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters nor do I claim to own them. I do not own any of the images used nor do I claim to own them.
Pt 2
You and Soap argue all the time, for everything and for nothing, both work well together but before every successful mission there's always a previous discussion.
The boys are accustomed already so they just let you argue and complain. «I told you we don't want to attract attention, we will be discreet!» «we need to create a distraction so they can take the hostage without someone noticing!» «No!» «Yes!»
Price acted like a Father trying to stop two teenagers, every time. Both of you are efficient but also a headache.
This time is not different. Price already explained to you the mission, observe, get close to the enemy, put some hidden cameras or microphones, trackers, all the necessary to obtain information and capture them. That was the easy part, the hard part was Price's proposition.
- What? Sorry cap, but I think Ghost or Gaz or even you, would play a better role than Soap.
«Oh no, here we go again» ghost and Gaz muttered while rolling their eyes.
- Excuse me? You don't know what you're talking about y/n. I'm such a perfect husband material.
- You're everything but a husband. Seriously Captain, we have to considerate someone else. Also I have my daughter, what will I do with her?
- Y/n, I understand you're mother now, but I also know the girl is in a private school... A boarding school, am I right? she will be fine and if she needs to visit I'm sure she won't be in danger, that could help us a little.
You simply nodded but then you stared at soap, you observed him head to toe, you're sure he's not the right person for this kind of mission, his hairstyle, his personality, you think he's inadequate.
-Alright... but... He's not the right person for this mission, that's all I'm saying.
Soap is not angry, he's actually making fun of this, he put a hand over his chest and opened his mouth, pretending to be offended by your comment.
- Y/n, I feel offended, I'm a very charming man, clearly I'm the best option. The lieutenant is too serious, he certainly won't be very friendly with our target, Gaz is maybe an option, but there's not much chemistry between you and him as a fake couple and our Captain... He simply has better missions to attend.
«Agree» «Sorry Y/n, Soap's right» «he'll do it fine, trust him»
You just rolled your eyes, you feel ridiculous trying to make them understand your point of view.
A few days later after that discussion, you were looking for someone around the base. Emma, your almost 7 year old daughter, was visit day and you couldn't get a nanny for her so you brought her with you to the base, the little girl is now lost and you're desperate to find her.
- Did you Lost something Sergeant?
Ghost's voice took you by surprise, his giant form always makes you a little bit anxious.
- Ah! Ghost, I mean Lieutenant, I... I'm actually looking for my daughter... I told her to stay in my office but she disappeared.
And just behind him, Emma appeared, holding your lieutenant's hand.
- I think I found her.
You kneeled in front of your girl and hugged her.
- Emma, why did you do that? I told you, you can't walk around here alone.
- But Y/N, I wanted to explore!! Ghost found me, he accompanied me, he's very sweet.
You stood up and took your little girl's hand.
- I'm sorry Lt; thanks for finding her.
You started to walk back to your office while Emma muttered to you «I think Ghost is very handsome...» you sighed «you're just like your mother...».
Indeed, Emma is the mini version of your best friend, you miss her, her loss was the most painful moment of your life, but Emma needed someone, your friend always said you would be her Legal representative if one day the worst happened. Now after a year, you're trying to be a mother for the little girl.
Both were getting ready to leave the base when a Knock on your door interrupted, Emma ran to open, it was Soap.
- Y/n, I just came to give you the files with the location of the house and other important stuff, oh, I think it would be good if we arrive together...like a happy family.
- Thanks Soap, ah... Can we discuss all this later?, I have to take her back to school...
You pointed at Emma who's still on the door observing at Soap with sparkling eyes, you continued talking.
-This is Emma, my daughter. Emma, this is my friend Johnny.
Johnny smiled at the little girl and shook hands with her.
- Heyyy, future daughter, Ghost told me about you, you're certainly a sunshine.
Emma blushed but instantly the curiosity captivated her.
- Future daughter? Are you Y/N's boyfriend? Have you seen Ghost's face? I think he has beautiful eyes.
Your red face was enough to make Soap's laugh, but he was quick to respond.
- I guess your mommy will talk to you about this later, and Yes, I've seen my lieutenant's face, not so bad but I think I'm more... Attractive.
He blinked an eye at Emma and then to you, he said goodbye and disappeared. On your way to Emma's school you explained to her what Soap was talking about, you never saw her so happy, excited to 'help' you in this mission.
While she was at school, you packed all your clothes and some stuff necessary to take to your temporary home. Soap was kind and went to your apartment to help you with the boxes, after all, it was better if both arrived together.
It was a short drive, you also discovered the location is not so far from Emma's school, the house is not so big but also not so small, white and yellow with a beautiful garden, certainly looks perfect for a family. Before leaving the car you decided both needed to put some rules.
- First of all, when Emma is around don't insult or say a bad word
- Copy...
- Second, we will sleep in the same bed... But, if you get close enough I will send you to sleep on the floor, okay?
- Fair enough.
Why is he so calmed? It is annoying how he simply smiles and is not complaining? You're not understanding what he is trying to do.
- And... Why are you agreeing to everything I'm saying?
- You said I'm not husband or dad's material, I will show you you're wrong my sweet wife... Let's start the show, Sweetheart!
He opened the door and got out of the car, you stayed speechless and followed him, he handed you the keys to open while he was bringing the boxes with you and his stuff.
You wanted to help but he refused, you were starting to complain when a man, your new neighbor, and technically the enemy, appeared, smiling pretending to be nice.
- I want to help! You're being a...
- Hello there! welcome to the neighborhood!
Both looked at him, he started to walk to you, Soap put the box on the floor and held your waist softly, you didn't know why but you felt shivers.
- Hey, thanks man! I'm John and this is my wife y/n
- it's really good to have new neighbors, I'm Jeff. I live in the house next to yours, feel free to visit whenever you want.
- Oh man, you live in a palace, it's a wonderful house!
- I Know, I think it is a good place to raise kids.
-Certainly it is, not only the house but the entire neighborhood, that's why my wife wanted to buy this house, no baby?
He kissed your forehead and squeezed your waist softly, you jumped in surprise.
- Oh, yes, sorry, I'm distracted by all this beauty, I can't wait to start to unpack! Jeff, how long have you been living here?
- I moved here 6 years ago, it's wonderful, my son loves this place, do you have children?
- Ah...
- Yes, our little princess, Emma, she's not here but will visit us soon, she's excited to see her new bedroom.
- Oh, where's she?
You started to worry, you never thought about the real danger you were putting on the little girl, but before you could think about a good lie, Soap spoke for both.
- She's visiting my parents, they have a small farm and Emma loves the horses.
- I see, well, I hope I can meet her soon, my son will be happy to have a new friend...
- For sure, Anyway, it has been a pleasure to meet you Jeff, we have too much work to do, we want to end all early, to have some time for us.
Jeff, was looking at both, there was something in his eyes that made you think he wasn't very convinced, You hugged Soap by his waist and put your head over his chest
- Ah yes, it has been a pleasure Jeff, but as my husband said, we have to hurry up if we want to... you know, do some newly married things.
He nodded and started to walk to his house, before you could speak again, Soap carried you and yelled «Home sweet home, my lady» you made a loud fake laugh and tried to make some sweet comments. Once the door was closed you jumped from his arms and looked for your phone and sent an encrypted text to Price. «Phase 1, Success, we'll start to install security around the house and ASAP we'll try to install microphones and trackers on the enemy». Soap was quick, he started to work in all the security system, you were surprised when you saw him installing on Emma's room.
- What are you doing Soap?
He looked at you and continued his work, you noticed Emma's room was the safest around the house. Then, his voice caught your attention.
- If your daughter will be staying here some days, I want to be sure she will be safe, you and her are my responsibility at the moment, it means that keeping us safe is my priority, more than spying on the enemy.
You blushed, his words caused you goosebumps and a strange feeling in your stomach, you weren't sure about why you were feeling all that so you decided to say thanks and leave the room.
- Thanks Jhonny, umm, dinner will be ready soon, wash your hands.
- I'll be there in a minute.
You ran out of the room, your heart beat was racing, after the dinner both were working a little, talking about your daughter and when she will visit you, it was strange for you, but for a moment you forgot this was all fake.

Can I make a request a headcanon of Riddle, Vil's, Jamil's and Azul's reaction to finding out that their romantic partner is a direct descendant of the Great Seven? (Like the ones who found and made their dorms?)
Male or Female Yuu/MC/Reader/Y/N please and thank you!
What a wonderful ask, my friend ! I apologize for making this so late, I hope that you will still enjoy reading these head canons if you are still out there. I'll be using gender neutral reader since I wanted everyone to enjoy it but if you wish for a male/female reader only, send in a request and I'll get right to it !
Pairing(s) : vil schoenheit x reader, jamil viper x reader, Azul ashengrotto x reader, riddle rosehearts x reader
Warning(s) : gn!reader, may have some cursing, they/them pronouns are used but gender isn't mentioned, reader is a merfolk in Azul's part (cause you know- Ursula is a mermaid..), also they act similar to their ancestors.
Jamil, Vil, Riddle and Azul finding out that their partner is a descendant of one of the great sevens :
Riddle Rosehearts
When Riddle first met you, he didn't think much of it. Sure you were quite commanding and respected the rules of his dorms very well (which he appreciated) but he just thought it was your personality and nothing more.
When he found you looking at the Queen of Heart's statue, he was surprised to see dissatisfaction on your face. You appeared a little bothered and as your partner he wished to make sure his s/o was alright.
"Is everything ok my Rose ? You seem a little out of your element."
"Ah Riddle, no I'm all good I'm simply thinking about certain things concerning my ancestor."
"Oh, and who are they ?"
"The one I'm looking at right now."
....
WhAt-
he wasn't expecting that, honestly, it feels like a bucket of ice got dropped on his head. Since she is seen in such a positive light in Night Raven College, he will start asking you about her.
"Oh she was a tyrannical queen, absolutely insane with no moral whatsoever. The only traditions we pass down in the family are the rules and leadership qualities, those are taught to the kids at a young age. I never admired her, not once. Sometimes rules didn't even need to be broken for her to cut someone's head off. If she was in front of me, breathing, at this exact moment I would give her a taste of her own medicine."
...
He didn't expect that, not once did he think of it that way. What was pictured to be a righteous royal turned out to be someone who beheaded people for a yes or a no.
It doesn't change what he thinks about you, you are your own person and what your ancestor did is unforgivable.
he's just stunned, and maybe a bit more proud of being your significant other.
Vil Schoenheit
You and Vil are the star couple of NRC, people literally turn blind when they look at the both of you. Dazzled with glam and beauty I swear to god-
He's glad he doesn't have to constantly shout at you for being reckless and ruining your eyeshadow. Not like some people
You were the perfect visual depiction of a queen/king/royal, I imagine you two walking down the school hallway and a red carpet spawns out of nowhere for the both of you to walk on.
Aphrodite has favorites.
You take good care of your appearance, no matter the special/ so called 'unusual' features you carry, you still manage to appear even more wonderful than the Fairest Queen herself.
Rook stalks you follows you around a lot. He would gush at you everyday as you sat in front of the mirror and prepared yourself for the day.
He does this to Vil as well and y'all consider this normal at this point. If you don't, then get prepared to be spooked all the time. Like...all the time.
"My my [Nickname], you look especially splendid today ! Not like you aren't usually, but you managed to make your beauty shine even more than it already was !"
"Well I am the Fairest Queen's great-great-great-great granddaughter/son/child after all."
"..."
"Pardon me."
"Where did that come from ? Orchidia was that in the script-"
Rook will tell Vil immediately, it isn't like it will affect your relationship in any way, he just thinks its a very interesting fact about you.
He may or may not flatter himself with it, but even if you weren't, your beauty does shine without an ancestor to prove it.
Jamil Viper
You are an amazing tactician, I mean, you were capable of coming up with a plan to stop kalim from burning down the dorm 10 days before it had the possibility of taking place.
And let's not ignore your persuasive abilities, you don't even need unique magic to have 200 students do what you want.
You and Jamil are one manipulative pair, but at least you have good morals. Kinda wishing you were there during the entirety of chapter 4 because it would have been over in one episode with no overblot happening at all.
Wether you scold him after finding out is your choice, but if it does happen don't be too harsh about it, his mind is little coo-coo at the moment.
So much that the only thing he catches you saying is :
"...And I don't want you turning into my great-great-great-great uncle simply because things didn't go your way. He was one manipulative and deceiving *sshole who I wish was never related to me at all. He was smart but for the wrong reasons, you are so much better than the sorcerer of sands Jamil ! I know it, and if anyone or anything is bothering you, I expect a full ranting session from your part-" "Wait you're related to the sorcerer of sands ?"
"...."
"Did you hear anything else about what I said ?"
"To be honest..."
"No."
Well that went well.
He is genuinely impressed and a little disappointed about the fact that the very man who represents his dorm is a huge traitor.
You're the one to talk- Lady Orchidia please calm down
He understands what you mean but his perception on Kalim won't change so if you're friends with the guy he stresses over everyday than you're gonna have to learn to live with it.
I repeat, it doesn't change your love for one another, except this time he'll be watching his back a little more. Knowing your advantage against him.
He's soft for you ngl
Azul Ashengrotto
Who are you and why are you so cute together-
Octopus lovers. Oh my god this is too much.
Orchidia you still need to finish the fanfic Shut your mouth and let me die, I finally found my reason to sleep forever.
You will probably have to be a mermaid/man/folk due to your origins but your appearance is your choice cause I'm too lazy to give you one also I have no idea what you look like.
You are once again amazing at convincing people into obeying your orders and both loves and fears your skill.
You are also is source of confidence and pride, if you can be happy in your original fish form than so can he (you just gotta tell him that often.)
He'll find out during a normal conversation where the two of you are in his office as he's arranging the contracts and listening to you talk about your day.
"Oh and did you know my family is related to the sea witch ? I know it's crazy to believe but-" "YOU'RE RELATED TO THE BENEVOLENT SEA WITCH ?!" "Yes...?" *runs up to you and shoves contract in your face* "Please marry me."
He is very happy and very excited, acting like a fan who gets to meet his idol for the first time in person.
He thought highly of you before, now it's through the stars. get it ? cause he thought highly of you ? damnit I suck at jokes.
He's willing to hear you talk about your ancestor for hours and hours, she is his role model after all.
Finds himself very lucky to be with you, even prior to your declaration. You two are just adorable- SQUISHY OCTOPUS !

Cute Yumiko oneshot with the rest of the ADA before I post the most horrific traumatizing shit ever!!!!!!
FEATURING: Osamu Dazai , Doppo Kunikida , Kyouka , Edogawa Ranpo , ATSUSHI MY BELOVED, AND KINDA KUNIZAI IMPLICATIONS BUT IDK…??
Onion’s notes: Can I have a brother like Atsushi please (No Arcturus you don’t count.)
The streets of Yokohama were alive with color and light, lanterns glowing softly above the bustling crowd, the scent of festival food wafting through the air. The Armed Detective Agency was out in full force, each member dressed in traditional kimonos, blending into the sea of festival-goers.
Yumiko was practically glued to Atsushi’s side, her eyes wide in wonder as she took in the sights. It was her first festival, her first real glimpse of life outside the sterile confines of the lab where she had grown up. She hadn’t even known about holidays like this, where people gathered to celebrate with fireworks and food. The vibrancy of it all overwhelmed her senses, but in the best way. Suiren was so wrong. This was amazing.
“Are you okay, Yumiko?” Atsushi asked gently, looking down at her with his usual protective concern.
Yumiko nodded quickly, her kimono fluttering slightly as she moved. “Yes! It’s… it’s amazing. I didn’t think the outside world was this… alive.”
Atsushi smiled, relieved to see her enjoying herself. “It is. But if it gets too much, let me know, okay? We can take a break.”
Yumiko was about to respond when a certain suicidal brunette voice chimed in. “Wow, Atsushi, you’re like a real big brother now, huh? All responsible and everything.”
Kunikida adjusted his glasses, giving Dazai a sidelong glance. “Stop teasing him, Dazai. We’re here to make sure everyone has a good time, especially Yumiko.”
“Oh, come on, Kunikida, lighten up! It’s a festival! Let’s make the most of it before we go back to all that boring paperwork.”
Yumiko looked up at Atsushi, tilting her head. “Is it always like this with them?”
Atsushi sighed, giving her a knowing smile. “Pretty much.”
Nearby, Ranpo was already munching on a bag of festival snacks, giving Yumiko a casual wave. “You’ll get used to it. Trust me, this is a normal day.”
Yumiko blinked at the display of odd behavior, unsure whether to laugh or be confused. But before she could dwell on it, Kyoka approached with a small smile, holding out a candied apple. “Here. I thought you might want to try one.”
Yumiko hesitated before accepting the treat, her eyes lighting up at the sweet taste. “It’s really good,” she said, her voice filled with excitement.
Kyoka nodded, standing beside her. “There are lots of good things here. You should try the takoyaki next.”
“We’ll get you all the snacks you want,” Atsushi promised, watching her enjoy herself. He glanced at the others, feeling a warmth in his chest as they all came together to make Yumiko’s first festival a memorable one.
As they moved through the festival grounds, Yumiko found herself laughing more than she had in a long time. Maybe for the first time ever, even. Dazai attempted to win a plush toy for her at a game stall but ended up failing spectacularly, much to Kunikida’s exasperation. Ranpo gave her tips on how to win at the goldfish scooping game, while Atsushi and Kyoka helped her try out different festival foods.
“Are festivals always like this?” Yumiko asked as they found a quiet spot near the waterfront, where they were planning to watch the fireworks.
Atsushi chuckled. “Not always this chaotic, but it’s always fun.”
“Especially with this group,” Kunikida muttered, trying to keep Ranpo from wandering off.
Yumiko smiled softly, feeling something warm and comforting bloom in her chest. It wasn’t just the festival itself that made her happy—it was the fact that she was here, with people who cared about her. She had spent so long feeling isolated, like she didn’t belong anywhere. But now, surrounded by her new family at the Armed Detective Agency, she finally felt like she had a place.
As the fireworks began to light up the night sky, Yumiko practically jumped before she realized that it wasn’t what she thought it was. Her eyes widened in awe. She had never seen anything like it—colors bursting across the sky, reflecting in the water below. It felt like magic.
“They’re so beautiful,” she whispered as she shifted back into her fox form and jumped into Atsushi’s shoulder pikachu style.
Atsushi smiled at her. “I’m glad you like them. I knew you’d enjoy this.”
Dazai, lying on the grass nearby, grinned lazily. “It’s the perfect ending to the night, don’t you think?”
“Except for all the noise,” Kunikida complained, though there was a fond smile tugging at his lips.
Yumiko looked around at them, feeling a deep sense of gratitude. She turned to Atsushi, her voice soft but sincere. “Thank you, Atsushi-nii. For bringing me here. For… everything.”
Atsushi’s expression softened as he reached out to ruffle her hair in a brotherly manner. “You don’t have to thank me, Yumiko. I’m just happy you’re here with us.”
“Yeah!” Ranpo chimed in, still munching on snacks. “You’re part of the family now, Yumiko. No more labs, no more bad guys. Just us.”
Kyoka nodded in agreement, her quiet presence reassuring. “You’ll always have us.”
Yumiko blinked, her heart swelling with warmth. For the first time in a long while, she felt safe. She wasn’t just surviving anymore—she was living. And as the final firework burst into a brilliant display above them, Yumiko knew she had found something even more precious than freedom.
She had found her family.

"Perils of High Society"
Brooke and Mark were dating for a year now. They met when they were both still college students working at McDonald's and immediately came to like each other. Mark never liked to talk about his family, so Brooke never pushed him too much, until one day he confessed: Mark was actually Marcus Bancroft-Agnelli, the heir to large hotel empire, who decided to handle his own life during studies, not relying on his family fortune. When asked about why he doesn't want Brooke to meet his parents He explained: His family has an odd tradition: All women in the Bancroft-Agnelli family had their arms amputated when they hit puberty, to signify their status of perfect trophy wives: Their bare armless shoulders proudly displaying the fact they never have to resort to manual labour - and never will. "Pretty terrible, right?" said Mark "Actually, " said Brooke, "It's kinda hot, you know?" "A what?" "Can you imagine me without arms? I mean, wouldn't i look really elegant? And if that's what it takes to meet your parents..." "Baby, you don't need to do that, i don't need you to be part of my family, in fact, i don't really want to be part of them myself..." "I know, but... i kinda want to, you know? I don't think i would be very much of a 'trophy wife' anyway, as that sounds a little posh and lazy and i would prefer to learn how to use my feet rather than just stand around being pretty, but i could do without my arms i guess..."
Two months later, Mark and Brooke came to attend a party at one of Bancroft-Agnelli five star hotels. Brooke, still feeling a little clumsy, but proud of her armless shoulders, was overwhelmed by everything around her. Being born in rural area just outside the city, she wasn't used to being anywhere this fancy and nothing Mark told her could prepare her for the reality. Entering the hotel's ballroom, they were aproached by two women: One young, dressed in grey uniform with white gloves, the other about fifty years old, with aura of authority and perceived superiority, dressed in white and gold, the dress showing her perfectly smooth armless shoulders.
"Mom, this is my fiancée, Brooke Miller. Brooke, meet my mother, Beatrice Bancroft-Agnelli" "Pleased to meet you, dear. I see my son finally came to senses and found himself a woman befitting of a proper Bancroft-Agnelli man." said Beatrice to Mark's annoyed eyeroll. "Pleased to meet you, ma'am" said Brooke, twitching her right shoulder in an instinct to accompany the greeting with a handshake." Looking at Brooke's gesture with a mix of surprise and disgust, Beatrice replied: "Oh dear, but look at you, you hold your body like an arm person!" "Mom..." Hissed Mark. "And those scars! Oh my goodness, did a butcher do that to you? I could have refered you to our family surgeon in France, his handiwork is ex-qui-site, you know? He would never leave ugly scars like these behind." "MOM.." said Mark, now significantly louder. "And that make-up, dear oh dear... I would fire that maid who did that to you, such a shoddy job..." "Ahem... Actually," replied Brooke before Mark could interject again, "I did that myself - i mean, it's not perfect, but applying make-up with a foot is harder than i thought..." "You did what?" said Beatrice with overly dramatic expression, her eyebrows so high up they could pop out of her forehead any second. "Oh my lord, sweetheart, you aren't some common working class cripple or..." "MOM! That's enough! Come on, Brooke, we're leaving!" Yelled Mark to his mother's astonishment and put his arm around Brooke's shoulders in a protective gesture, guiding her swiftly away towards the elevator. "I'm sorry, did i say something wrong?" asked Brooke with surprised expression and hint of tears in her eyes. "Not you sweetheart." replied Mark, visibly angry, but keeping his voice down not to upset Brooke even more. "She did!"

Conscious Decision
Part 5
February 28th, 1984
~flashback chapter~
The Hayvenhurst estate held many of my most precious memories. When I arrived last night I couldn’t wait to explore, but the once weekly family dinner and game night took precedence. It was one of my favorite traditions. As we grew up, it was rare to be together, all in the same place, so when we were everything else seemed insignificant.
I sat in front of the vanity mirror as Karen applied shimmering eyeshadow across my eyelids. The impact of tonight’s event— tonight’s importance— was lingering in the air, but no one dared speak of it. The thin silk robe concealing my body started to feel like a suit of armor. My mind was all over the place stripping me of my common sense. I couldn’t sit still. It was difficult to decipher— was I excited or petrified?
“Sweetie, how is it that you’re more nervous than Michael?”
“Sorry.” I mumbled.
“Can you keep a secret?”
“Of course.”
“I’m nervous too.” She whispered covering her mouth to muffle her laughter.
“He’s going to win. I can feel it.”
“Are you excited about accompanying him? He hasn’t shut up about it.”
“Of course I am.”
“Good. He loves when you’re in attendance. He’s his best self when he has you.”
“Me too.” I smiled.
Karen put the finishing touches on my face before yanking me out of the chair by my shoulders.
“It’s time to get you in that dress.”
I stepped behind the partition admiring the dress laid out in front of me. The soft pearl colored fabric acted as a canvas elevating the sparkle of the intricate beading. It’s the most beautiful piece of clothing I’ve ever owned. It’s not something I’d usually wear and for that I have Katherine to thank. She accompanied me as I tried on dress after dress with no luck. Finally, she discovered this dress- THE dress, emphasizing how beautifully it would match Michael’s signature glove.
As I stepped into the dress, carefully pulling it up over my legs, I couldn’t ignore the butterflies erupting in my belly demanding attention. The heightened speed of my heartbeat causing my chest to vibrate.
“Are you all good in there?” I heard Karen ask and the task of answering her felt impossible. I wasn’t breathing.
“Kar—” My hands flew up to my chest as I tried to regain control over my body. In an instant Karen was by my side. She adjusted my dress securing the zipper before guiding me over to the window. She propped it open and placed me in front of it rubbing small circles in my back. Soon, I felt the crushing feeling in my chest diminish and the flutter in my belly cease.
“There you go. Just breathe.” She cooed.
“I don’t know where that came from. Thank you.”
“You’re nervous.” She stated moving the hair out of my face. “Michael is going to fall to his knees when he sees you. I can’t wait.”
“It feels like more than nerves. It feels like—”
“Love.” She interjected.
We shared a calm moment as I tried to read the look on her face. There was no trace of judgement or scrutiny. She wasn’t fishing for an answer. She didn’t need one. She already knew.
“Please, don’t tell Michael.” Karen’s eyes softened.
“Sweetie, Michael—”
“Oh my goodness! Bunny! You look so beautiful!” Latoya’s voice squeaked from the doorway.
“Thank you, bunny, so do you.” I hugged Latoya, she never let go of our childhood nicknames, I found it endearing. I quickly pushed aside the uneasy feeling nagging at my conscience. When we stepped away from each other she reached over interlocking our pinkies.
“I’ve missed you so much.” She pouted, her eyes glistening.
“I’ve missed you! Now, stop that. You’re going to make me cry.” We grew up together, so leaving to attend school out of state was the hardest decision I ever made.
“I’m going to go check on the man of the hour.” Karen smiled, locking eyes with me, she brought her index finger to her lips signaling she would keep my secret.
“Let’s go show my mom!” Latoya practically dragged me down the hall to Katherine’s room. As we passed Michael’s room, I let out a huff at the sight of his shut door. I couldn’t wait any longer to see him.
“Mama! Look at Y/N!”
“Oh my girls!” Katherine grinned from ear to ear. Her joy was contagious. “You both look lovely.”
“You look flawless Mama Kay.”
She gave us a twirl showing off her outfit. We laughed, chatting about how excited we were for this evening. My arm linked with Latoya’s as I thought about all the other moments we shared. They were my favorite people. My chosen family. A loud voice echoed through the long halls requesting everyone downstairs for pictures.
The three of us moved towards the voice continuing the conversation along the way. Standing at the top of the staircase, my eyes quickly spotted Michael, he was leaning against the wall at the bottom of the steps. The crystal covered blue and gold military jacket hanging from his broad shoulders, the fitted black slacks, he looked stunning. The bright glow of his socks and glove matched my dress exquisitely. When Michael looked up, a smile naturally appeared on my face as we admired one another. He pushed himself off the wall standing up straight feverishly fixing his already perfect hair. He slowly removed his sunglasses to reveal his beautiful eyes more captivating than ever.
“Michael’s gonna need medical attention.” I heard Latoya mumble teasingly.
Michael sped up the stairs skipping a few steps with long strides. In a blink of an eye he was standing in front of me. I giggled at his enthusiasm.
“Y/N, you’re so beautiful.”
“No.” I wrapped my arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. “You’re beautiful.”
Michael placed his hand on the small of my back helping me down the stairs. I felt his gaze on me as we descended the staircase. I nearly forgot how exhilarating being in his presence was.
“There they are!” I heard Janet’s voice yell. “Look at you two. It’s like prom all over again.”
Michael laughed uncomfortably, I looked over at him with a questioning look which he brushed off. Everyone was already in position taking pictures on the lawn. I connected our hands, pulling Michael with me towards where everyone was waiting.
“Wait. Wait.” Michael spoke.
“What’s wrong?”
“You look breathtaking.”
“Thank—”
“I have another date.” He interrupted me avoiding my eyes.
“I’m not following.” My voice coming out as a whisper.
“DiLeo— remember Frank- you know him—my manager—well he—I didn’t want to— he— Frank—”
“Michael. Just say it.”
“Brooke Shields.”
“What about her?”
“Frank set up for her to be my date, so she’ll meet me at Shrine Auditorium for the red carpet.”
“Oh.” It was all I could manage to get out. In this moment, I couldn’t form a coherent thought let alone say actual words.
“I fought him on it for weeks. I thought he dropped it. I swear I had no idea.” I felt his hand rest on my shoulder. “I’m so sorry.”
“It’s— it’s no big deal.” I smiled back at him fighting hard to hide any trace of pain.
“I feel terrible.”
“It makes sense that he’d want your date to be someone in the business as well. I get it. You should have another celebrity on your arm. Not some nobody.” I forced a laugh to try to make this situation a little less awkward.
“You aren’t a nobody to me.”
“It’s okay, Mickey. We should join everyone.” I couldn’t bring myself to stand there with him any longer. The look of pity on his face making me feel smaller than ever. I didn’t wait for his response as I turned around walking over to join the crowd. Michael’s presence by my side, comforting and painful all at once, I couldn’t bring myself to acknowledge it or look at him just yet. I needed to compose myself first. I have no right being hurt by this. I’m here, as a friend, to support him. I’m his friend. I’ll always be his friend— just his friend.
“Y/N, Y/N, Y/N...” Jermaine’s voice echoed through the courtyard. “When are you going to stop playing hard to get and go on a date with me?”
“Hi Jermaine.” I smiled uncomfortably wrapping my arms around myself. I looked between the two Jackson boys’ knowing the tension amongst them was at an all time high.
“You get more beautiful every time I see you. Doesn’t she Mike?” He teased, nudging Michael’s arm with force making him loose his balance.
“She does.” Michael shot back through clenched teeth, regaining his footing and crossing his arms.
“You know I just can’t resist you. Come on.” Jermaine flirtatiously winked, reaching out in attempt to pull me into an unwanted embrace, a move he forced on me and only me. Michael’s arm shot up crashing into his brother’s chest. “Woah, little brother your jealousy is showing. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. She’s not your girl. She’ll never be your girl. She’s fair game.”
“Shut up Jermaine!” Michael shouted. By this time the commotion caught the attention of the rest of the family.
“Hey! What’s going on here?” Katherine yelled, but it was too late.
Jermaine leaned in, inches away from Michael’s face before he lowly said, “Look at her. You think I’m the only man paying her any attention? Men. Not little boys like you. Look at that figure. She’s the sweetest piece of—”
“Don’t talk about her like that!”
Michael’s glittered glove flew through the air colliding with his brothers’ jaw. As the fight progressed, the brothers ended up tussling on the grass. Nasty insults could be heard for miles the way they were screaming. They were tugging at each other with such hatred- such anger. In the worst way, it forced me to see firsthand just how ugly their relationship had become. I’ve never seen Michael fight like this, so I was shocked that he was holding his own. Each hit delivered with such force I could hear the impact. Nothing I shouted slowed the momentum and my attempts to break it up failed miserably. Finally, Randy, Marlon and Tito ran over and began yanking their brothers apart. It felt like hours, but I knew only seconds had passed. Even with that, I was certain a significant amount of damage had been inflicted— irreversible damage.
“Stop it! Now! Right now!” Katherine rushed over standing over her boys as the fight carried on.
Once they were separated from one another I bolted forward checking on Michael. His eyes unrecognizable to me. I could feel his anger- it broke my heart. He was out of breath, vigorously trying to break free of Tito’s grip. I’ve never seen him like this.
“Relax!” Tito yelled. “It’s over.”
“He started it!” Michael shouted trying to hurl himself at Jermaine again. I positioned myself in front of him trying to calm him down while discretely inspecting his face for any injuries.
“I do not care!” Katherine’s voice could cut through glass. “This never happens again! Do you understand?”
“He’s pathetic! It’s not my fault he can’t man up!”
“Jermaine Jackson!” The argument between Katherine and her son was just beginning.
“Little lover boy! You’re pitiful! You ain’t nothing! You’ll never be man enough—”
“Enough!” Katherine stood in Jermaine’s face. “So help me I’m not above smacking sense into you!”
I felt Michael shudder with each insult his big brother threw at him. I knew each one would linger in the back of his mind for years to come. That’s how Michael is. Good or bad. He never forgets.
“I got him.” I told Tito and Marlon as they released Michael’s arms with caution. His head hanging low, I knew he needed to be as far away from this scene as possible— and fast. I held his hand draping it across my shoulders as I led him inside. I didn’t say a word. I knew all he needed in this instance was to feel my presence, so that’s what I gave him.
As we walked towards the house we passed Latoya, Janet and Rebbie. They wore similar faces a mixture of sadness and fear. I can’t imagine how painful it was for them to watch their brothers fight like that. I drew my focus back to Michael. The gold sash of his jacket had been torn off and was now hanging down against his leg. His black slacks were covered in dirt and grass.
Once we entered the house Michael tugged at my waist until my cheek met his chest, he hugged me firmly resting his chin on the top of my head.
“I’m really sorry things got out of control. I appreciate you standing up for me.” I spoke into his chest.
“Always.”
“We need to get you cleaned up.”
“Just let me hold you a little longer please.”
Michael stubborn as ever waited until the last twenty minutes to clean himself up. I worked on sewing the sash back to his jacket while Karen touched up his makeup. Thankfully, he had an extra pair of pants so we didn’t have to stress about that.
As I focused on my task I felt Michael’s eyes on me once again. He suddenly took my hand into his leaving a gentle kiss on my palm.
“How’s it looking doctor?” He grinned.
“Good as new.”
“I’m lucky my best friend is a future surgeon or else I’d have no one to patch me up.”
“That’s my only hope in life— to be your personal seamstress.”
We laughed together. The heaviness of the earlier incident fading away. He was happy again. All I wanted was for him to be happy. He deserved it. He deserves the best.
“Can you give me a moment?” Michael lowly requested, he held my wrist tightly, as Karen left the room. Once we were alone his demeanor changed.
“Are you alright?” He was in his head— fidgeting and I couldn’t tell if it was good or bad.
“Do you ever think about getting married?”
Taken aback by the sudden change of topic. My mind drew a blank, not that he gave me a chance to respond.
“I dream about it.” His voice drifting off as he fiddled with the lens of his sunglasses.
“Me too. I think everyone does.”
“Who do you want to marry?”
“I—”
“I think it’d be us.”
“Us?”
“Yes, don’t you? I mean we already had a wedding. We’d just have to sign a few things this time around to make it official.” Michael howled hysterically, tumbling to the ground taking his chair down with him.
“Ha-ha-ha you’re hilarious.”
“Janet made you a crown out of popsicle sticks and flowers.” He added between laughs. Michael rolled around, fighting to catch his breath, his bejeweled outfit sparkling like a disco ball. Adorable and handsome all at once.
“Let’s talk about what you wore.” He pushed himself off the ground and tackled me.“Katherine’s powder blue pant suit!” My yell was muffled by his hand.
“Don’t you dare!”
“You started it!”
Michael stayed on top of me as he slowly removed his hand from my mouth. His hands planted on each side of my head. Lowering himself to his elbows without a word- without hesitation. Michael’s gaze was intense and steady. He was confident. I could feel it.
My hands gravitating to his chest, gripping onto the beaded fabric of his jacket, matching his stare. The space between us shrinking by the second.
“I love you.” Michael’s cool breath tickled my lips.
“I love you.”
His ungloved thumb dragged slowly across my bottom lip, his eyes flickering between love and lust.
My eyelids fell shut feeling overwhelmingly heavy as his nose brushed against mine.
“Michael? Oh, Y/N, there you are…” Janet’s voice cutting through the tension in the room. “It’s time to head out.” She obnoxiously covered her eyes with her hand adding to the embarrassment.
“We’re coming.” Michael stood up, holding his hand out to help me off the ground.
“Thanks.” I mumbled.
“You guys are finally together!” She cheered, sprinting over and pulling us into a tight hug.
“Janet!” Michael scolded. “No— not—”
“What? Are you forgetting the position I found you two in?”
“Janet.”
“Michael.”
“Janet! You’re annoying.”
“Michael! You’re stupid.”
I stood in the center of the siblings as they bickered back and forth. Unsure of what to do with myself, I stood silently, plastering a fake smile on my face for the second time today. I’d be lying if I said Michael’s quick response to his sister’s questioning didn’t hurt, but I guess he is right.
We’re friends.
We aren’t together.
We aren’t anything.
We arrived at Shrine Auditorium, exiting the limo, before Katherine and Joe pulled us all into a huddle. It’s tradition, to pray when we are faced with blessings, we must thank god for the life he’s given us.
After, everyone hugged Michael, wishing him luck, this was the moment we went our own ways. Michael had to walk red carpet, with numerous cameras and people screaming his name. While his family and I walked around the chaos, entering the venue in a not so star-studded fashion.
Michael hugged me, I wrapped my arms around his waist— tight. Out of all the times we’ve shared an embrace, this was the only time I felt afraid. I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to take it in— his warmth— the scent of his cologne- the security I felt being in his arms— the love that made my heart feel full.
“I want to bring you with me. I don’t want to do it alone.”
“You’re not alone. We’re all here. We will be just a few rows behind you.”
“I know. I just- I should have you with me. That’s how I always pictured it.”
“Me too.” I turned my head, leaving a quick kiss on his cheek. “I love you. You’re going to take home every award. I know it.”
“I love you.”
“I left some lipstick on you.” I giggled, reaching over to clean it off, but Michael stopped me with a sweet smile.
“Leave it. It’ll be like you’re with me. It might be the only thing that can get me through all of this.”
A tall man with a clipboard stood near us, clearing his throat, with a brief apology for interrupting us he informed Michael he needed to follow him.
Michael didn’t say a word as he hugged me one last time.
“Good luck.” My last words to him before we went our separate ways. I watched Michael saunter off, worriedly looking back as if I was going to vanish forever.
I felt it too. We’ve parted ways many times over the years, but there was something different about this time. It somehow felt like the end. End of what- I wasn’t sure.
Michael and I shared one last look, with a smile on his face, he placed his hand over his heart, I did the same. We didn’t need words to understand one another. We knew exactly what the other was thinking.
I love you.
And the Grammy goes to…
Michael Jackson!
I watched from afar as Michael walked up the steps of the stage. His sunglasses hid his eyes adding to the mysterious persona. The smile on his face was controlled as he softly spoke into microphone. The mix of timidness and excitement evident in his voice. I couldn’t put my finger on it at first- the feeling in the air. The happy celebration overshadowing it- the impending metamorphosis.
The first Grammy of the night for my favorite guy. He walked off the stage, so lost in his achievement that he forgot the award on the podium. He’s still Michael- kind, genuine and selfless.
Michael Jackson!
Michael Jackson!
Michael Jackson!
Michael Jackson!
Michael Jackson!
Michael Jackson!
“I made a deal with myself that if I won one more award— which is this award— which is seven— which is a record. I would take off my glasses.” The roar from the crowd echoed through the auditorium. Michael smirked enjoying the reaction. “Now, I don’t want to take them off really—” he’s cut off with even louder shrieks. They were loosing their mind over him— all he had to do was stand there and look pretty— which came natural for him. It always did.
“Okay, well, Catherine Hepburn, who is a dear friend of mine, she told me I should and I’m doing it for her okay?”
“And the girls— the girls in the back.” He pointed up at the balcony, removing his glasses, confidently blowing kisses paired with his bright smile.
“Goodness, they sound like they want to eat him alive.” Joe chuckled.
Michael Jackson!
Eight.
Michael won eight Grammy Awards. He set a record.
We all waited off to the side, watching Michael give interviews and take pictures with his awards. The smile on his face alone should win a Grammy.
“He’s making history like it’s nothing— knocking down every obstacle— every barrier they try to put in his path. He does it with such grace. They wouldn’t give him a spot— a chance, so he created his own league.” Janet gushed, resting her head against mine.
“He really is. It’s incredible.”
“I’m glad he has you. You’ve always been it for him.”
“We aren’t— it’s confusing.” I said sadly.
“You are his and he is yours. There’s nothing confusing about that.”
I didn’t get the opportunity to respond, since Janet shoved me forward, bumping into Michael who stood ready to catch me.
“I want to take a picture with you.”
The palm of my hand tickled as Michael interlocked our fingers. He pulled me along with him across the smooth red carpet. The material of his glove, soft as could be against my skin, made me yearn for his touch- one without material keeping us apart.
“Here. Hold this one!” Michael handed me one of his awards, the words ‘Album of the Year’ engraved in it. “You inspired me to write ‘Lady in my Life,’ everything you make me feel is in that song. I fought tooth and nail for it to be on the album, if it wasn’t for that song— I don’t know that I would’ve won lucky number eight.”
“Michael—”
“You don’t have to say anything— not now anyway. Just smile.” He squeezed my hand and endless blinding flashes begun. After a few seconds I turned to look at Michael, only to find him already looking back at me.
“The way I feel about you, Michael, it’s unlike anything I’ve felt or will ever feel— for anyone else.” I whispered in his ear, trying to ignore the shiver I felt travel through my body. He took off his sunglasses, tightening his grip on my hand as he pulled be behind the curtain, away from all the vigilant onlookers.
“What do you mean?”
“What do you mean?” I quickly repeated his question to avoid having to answer first.
“We’re friends. We’re best friends.” He said slowly mostly to himself than to me.
“Michael, what’s going on?”
“I— I don’t— I’m not sure. I don’t know what to say.”
We stood there staring at each other with so many unanswered questions. Maybe he’ll never tell me- or maybe he doesn’t feel the way I do. I fixed my gaze to the floor as it became too painful to look into his eyes.
“Y/N?”
“Michael, you don’t have anything to say to me?”
“I am— it’s you know— my heart-“ he took a deep breath, aggressively wiping his hands on his slacks, before shaking his head and looking away from me. “No. I don’t have anything to say.”
“The marriage stuff earlier, caressing my lips, the song inspiration comment, was it a lie— a joke or—” I paused when I saw his sisters skipping over to us from over his shoulder. “It’s fine. We can just make some stupid pact to get married if we’re still single by thirty.” I laughed uncomfortably. “It’s no big deal.”
“What’s no big deal?” Latoya asked.
“Nothing.” I smiled, greeting them happily.
“The air is tense over here.” Rebbie said waving her hands in the air.
“What did you do?” Janet spoke up pinching her brother over and over again.
“Ow. Stop, nothing! I didn’t do anything!”
“Y/N, what did our idiot brother do?” Latoya inquired, crossing her arms.
“Nothing. He didn’t do anything. It’s nothing. It will always be nothing.”
They visibly perked up as I trailed off in the middle of my last sentence. A chorus of “oooo’s” replacing the tension in the air.
“Michael...” Janet uttered sadly. “Just tell her. The way you tell us—”
“Janet, get off my back.”
“Oh, he’s mad.” Latoya held back a laugh.
“Security!” Rebbie added making them both burst out laughing.
“It’s okay. Everything is fine.” I interrupted.
“Mom wants all us siblings for a picture. You know how she is.” Janet said changing the subject. Finally.
The five of is began walking over to where the rest of the Jackson’s stood. Rebbie and Latoya were still laughing about god knows what. Even though I wasn’t in the mood to laugh I still loved listening in on their craziness.
“You’re going to lose her.” I heard Janet say to her brother. Michael and Janet followed a few steps behind, even with their hushed voices I could still hear parts of their conversation. “You can’t mess with a woman’s heart.” She added.
Maybe it’s best that I let Michael go. Let go of the ‘what if.’ He’ll always be my best friend. Maybe it’s time to move on. As I got lost in thought, I knew I could go through the motions of a relationship. I could be with someone, have someone, but they’d never have me— not the way Michael did— not the way he does.
Michael will always have my heart. He doesn’t have just a piece of me, he has all of me, he always will.
“I would never mess with her heart. You know how I feel about her.” The desperation in Michael’s voice clear, causing my heart to ache, and just like that I came to a realization.
I don’t want to move on. I don’t need to move on. All I need to do is be patient for a little longer. Michael isn’t ready to tell me how he feels, but he shows me how he feels in every other way. He knows he loves me, he knows he wants to be with me and for right now that’s enough.
That’s enough for me.
Michael is worth the wait..
And I’ll wait for him as long as it takes.
