Tag Game
Rules: answer 30 questions and tag 20 blogs you are contractually obligated to know better!
Hi @justahopelessssromantic, thanks for tagging me! Please note that I’m about to break that “tag 20 blogs requirement” because I mainly use this blog as a reference library and only started venturing outside of that in this the Year of the Great Pandemic 2020.
And even that’s been limited. So I wouldn’t have 10 non-reference blogs to tag much less 20. Whoops!
_________________________________________________
Name/nickname: Peta-Ann/Peta
Gender: Female
Star sign: Leo
Tumblr media
Height: 5’ 11
Time: 2:50 pm
Birthday: August 16th
Favorite bands: Er...I don’t have any, but I did get into Imagine Dragons during lock-down. And Muse back in art college.
Favorite solo artists: To be honest, I fell back into trance music* during the pandemic so I’ve spent the past few months picking tunes and DJs from “A State of Trance” by Armin Van Buuren every Thursday since March or April this year. *Got into it during the heights of Napster back in high school, then lost touch during college when the stress got too much.
Song stuck in my head: Every now and then, Arty and NK - Prayer pops in, but my mental soundtrack tends to shuffle a lot.
Last movie: I paid to watch? “Avengers: Endgame”. Last movie period? If animated short films count, it was “Canvas” on Netflix thanks to a friend who let me bum off his account for 9 minutes.
Tumblr media
Last show: Uh......I think I nodded off to a Mike & Molly rerun last night. 😅
Tumblr media
When did I create this blog: February 16, 2012
What I post: I reblog reference material in art and writing (mainly writing so far, since I’m so rusty in that area), and occasionally my own posts from my art blog.
Tumblr media
Last thing I Googled: The Leo meme, because the gifs for ‘Leo’ failed to impress.
Other blogs: Just my art one - @langilalastudios. I tried to resurrect the username for one I deleted in order to use that as a personal blog (but in a different way from before), but Tumblr won’t let me be great. Yet.
Do I get asks: Not here, no. Not on my art blog either.
Why I choose my url: Langi Lala Studios is my illustration business name and my pro blog’s user name, so this blog’s name reflects the fact that I use it to store reference to fuel my inspiration later.
Following: 883
Followers: 206
Average hours of sleep: My sleep’s been taking a beating since I was 24, but I’ve been pulling 7-8 hours on average lately.
Lucky number: Not a clue.
Instruments: None. Not even one. People insisting that I play X instrument because Y Golden Child did ensured that I never touched a musical anything unless it was a school requirement. Want to make sure I never do something? Compare me to someone else.
Tumblr media
What am I wearing: An old brown tank top, a pair of shorts that are too good for house wear but I’m not wearing shorts on the road, and my trusty Crocs clogs.
Dream job: Being an illustrator. I am, professionally, but this coming year is the year I need to work on my own projects. I think my soul and mind need me to do it before they rot.
Dream trip: Japan, for sure. A full Caribbean tour as well.
Favorite food: Dark chocolate, and jerk chicken/pork. Pan chicken is a close second.
Nationality: Jamaican
Tumblr media
Favorite song: I tried, I really did, but I can’t think of just ONE.
Last book I read: More last “the last book I started and need to finish”. “Everything is Figureoutable” by Marie Forleo. 😅
Top three fictional universes I’d like to live in:
MCU - Wakanda, specifically. Pretty sure they have a cure for my autoimmune disease.
The 4400. Time travel and a super power tune up? Sold. Just pick up my 16 year old self, please.
Avatar the Last Airbender/The Legend of Korra. Once again, bending elements? Sign me up.
My tag list. Non-compulsory, so don’t stress: @breanime, @sleepynegress, @blackmissfrizzle, @razycrandomcunt, @starrynite7114
I told you it was going to be less than 10, @justahopelessssromantic!

Welcome to the family, CECE! Your application to SAM EVANS was accepted. I am really happy to have you around! Make sure to read the beginners checklist, and remember, have fun! I can’t wait to roleplay with you! Have fun!
IN CHARACTER
CHARACTER NAME: Samuel Evans CHARACTER AGE & DATE OF BIRTH: 27 - October 12th OCCUPATION: Freelance artist (Sells art online, fiverr, etc..) FACE CLAIM: Chord Overstreet HOMETOWN & CITY WHERE LIVES NOW: Seattle, WA - Lima, OH SEXUAL ORIENTATION & GENDER: Male, heterosexual RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Single POSITIVE TRAITS: Eccentric, Respectful, Humble NEGATIVE TRAITS: Stubborn, Blunt, impulsive CHARACTER QUOTE/LYRIC: “Everything is figureoutable”
HEADCANONS
First Headcanon: A jack of all trades is probably the most fitting title for Sam Evans. He’s done everything from modeling, singing, and acting in cheesy commercials in New York, and even stripping for a brief moment while in Kentucky. Though, he doesn’t like to talk about that little tidbit. But nothing else felt quite like home the way Lima did, which is probably why he’s back and though momentarily he’s taking the starving artist route by selling drawings, he’s the happiest he’s been in a long while.
Second Headcanon: Admittedly selling drawings and digital comics online wasn’t the original plan, in fact, there was no plan when making the decision to move back to Lima. Lately his art has been picking up a bit of traction and recognition on a few sights. Things are looking a little brighter in way of this actually being something that he sticks to…If it continues to go well.
Third Headcanon: Dating has been rough and awkward. It’s almost as if he’s forgotten how to talk and act around a woman who isn’t Mercedes. He used to be pretty decent at it, or at least he thought he was. Since their break-up he feels insecure and incapable of actually being the person someone wants to be with. It’s like high school all over again.
Fourth Headcanon: He’s made it a point to keep in contact with all of his friends, some more than others, but that’s not completely on purpose.
CONNECTIONS
Mary and Dwight Evans: There’s not much to be said when it comes to his parents. He adores them and is nothing but thankful for how supportive and accepting they’ve been of everything. Stacy and Stevie Evans: While on the verge of being homeless while in high school, all he could think about was his brother and sister and how much he needed to help. How much he needed to be sure that they were taken care of. That hasn’t changed and he always makes it a point to let them know that. Mercedes Jones (ex): The two dated after graduation and while in New York. He proposed but was turned down. This broke him, but motivated him to fight for Mercedes and prove her doubts to be wrong. He surprises Mercedes by showing up in Los Angeles at her apartment, but finds her with another man. She promises that it was nothing but the two have never really been the same. Here recently they’ve gotten back in contact and some of those old feelings are resurfacing. Blaine Anderson: His right hand man and the one person that knows almost all of what’s currently going on in his life. They’ve kept in close contact.

5 books I’ve read lately and loved
Hi hi friends! How’s the day going? I hope you’re having a lovely morning so far. I’m hopping on the Peloton and recording a podcast interview. The podcast will be back tomorrow! (Be sure you’re subscribed so you can see when I update. One of my new year’s goals is to be more consistent with the podcast.)
For today’s post, I thought I’d share a handful of books I’ve read recently (some I read this month and others are from last summer/fall) that I genuinely enjoyed. I always love your book suggestions, so please let me know if you have any favorites from the past year!
1) Matchmaking for Beginners. This book was in my Kindle app forever, and I finally decided to give it a go. I’ve ended up flying through the pages and really enjoyed it for a lighthearted, captivating read before bed. My friend Danielle describes books like this as “cupcake books” : perfect, sweet, and meant to be indulged.
Here’s the synopsis:
Marnie MacGraw wants an ordinary life—a husband, kids, and a minivan in the suburbs. Now that she’s marrying the man of her dreams, she’s sure this is the life she’ll get. Then Marnie meets Blix Holliday, her fiancé’s irascible matchmaking great-aunt who’s dying, and everything changes—just as Blix told her it would.
This is a great story about how the unexpected can turn out in the most positive way, and that those who turn away love are often the ones who need it most.
2) Everything is Figureoutable. I’m only halfway through this one, but can already tell that it’s going to stick with me. Marie Forleo is one of my very favorites, and I always appreciate how generous she is with her knowledge while keeping it real. I did B-school many years ago and dramatically changed my online business. Her background is fascinating – she led hip hop DVDs after learning to dance in her 30s and worked with Tony Robbins – and I’m always happy to support her and spread the word. It’s a powerful read with inspiration to follow your dreams and take action.
Here’s what her book is about:
While most self-help books offer quick fixes, Everything is Figureoutable will retrain your brain to think more creatively and positively in the face of setbacks. In the words of Cheryl Strayed, it’s “a must-read for anyone who wants to face their fears, fulfill their dreams, and find a better way forward.”
If you’re having trouble solving a problem or reaching a dream, the problem isn’t you. It’s that you haven’t yet installed the one belief that changes everything.
Marie’s mom once told her, “Nothing in life is that complicated. You can do whatever you set your mind to if you roll up your sleeves. Everything is figureoutable.”
Whether you want to leave a dead end job, break an addiction, learn to dance, heal a relationship, or grow a business, Everything is Figureoutable will show you how.
You’ll learn:
•  The habit that makes it 42% more likely you’ll achieve your goals.
•  How to overcome a lack of time and money.
•  How to deal with criticism and imposter syndrome.
It’s more than just a fun phrase to say. It’s a philosophy of relentless optimism. A mindset. A mantra. A conviction.
3) Little Fires Everywhere. I lurk reviews before I decide to commit to a book and the most recent reviews for this book are horrible. There wasn’t really anything else I wanted to read so I decided to go for it. By the end of the first chapter, I couldn’t wait to find out what happened. I’m not a big crime or who-done-it type fan – I like to read before bed so if it surges my adrenaline, I can’t fall asleep – but this had just the right amount of mystery without being too intense.
In Shaker Heights, a placid, progressive suburb of Cleveland, everything is planned—from the layout of the winding roads, to the colors of the houses, to the successful lives its residents will go on to lead. And no one embodies this spirit more than Elena Richardson, whose guiding principle is playing by the rules.
Enter Mia Warren—an enigmatic artist and single mother—who arrives in this idyllic bubble with her teenaged daughter Pearl, and rents a house from the Richardsons. Soon Mia and Pearl become more than tenants: all four Richardson children are drawn to the mother-daughter pair. But Mia carries with her a mysterious past and a disregard for the status quo that threatens to upend this carefully ordered community.
4) The Great Alone.
I’m a huge fan of Kristin Hannah – The Nightingale is likely in the top five of the best books I’ve ever read – and while I didn’t love Firefly Lane, the synopsis for this one caught my eye. The story itself is riveting and I found myself emotional throughout a lot of it. Within her vivid descriptions of Alaska, it’s a beautiful story about resilience and the will to survive.
Here’s what it’s about:
Alaska, 1974. Ernt Allbright came home from the Vietnam War a changed and volatile man. When he loses yet another job, he makes the impulsive decision to move his wife and daughter north where they will live off the grid in America’s last true frontier.
Cora will do anything for the man she loves, even if means following him into the unknown. Thirteen-year-old Leni, caught in the riptide of her parents’ passionate, stormy relationship, has little choice but to go along, daring to hope this new land promises her family a better future. In a wild, remote corner of Alaska, the Allbrights find a fiercely independent community of strong men and even stronger women. The long, sunlit days and the generosity of the locals make up for the newcomers’ lack of preparation and dwindling resources.
But as winter approaches and darkness descends, Ernt’s fragile mental state deteriorates. Soon the perils outside pale in comparison to threats from within. In their small cabin, covered in snow, blanketed in eighteen hours of night, Leni and her mother learn the terrible truth: they are on their own.
5) The Tattooist of Auschwitz.
The book alternated wrapping my heart in a warm embrace and smashing it into a thousand pieces. I rarely finish books quickly because life – I often pluck through them throughout the week- but finished this one in two days. I couldn’t finish it fast enough. It’s hard to believe that amidst the horrors of Auschwitz there was such a beautiful love story. This novel is based on true events and many of the characters are based on real people.
Here’s the synopsis:
In April 1942, Lale Sokolov, a Slovakian Jew, is forcibly transported to the concentration camps at Auschwitz-Birkenau. When his captors discover that he speaks several languages, he is put to work as a Tätowierer (the German word for tattooist), tasked with permanently marking his fellow prisoners.
Imprisoned for over two and a half years, Lale witnesses horrific atrocities and barbarism—but also incredible acts of bravery and compassion. Risking his own life, he uses his privileged position to exchange jewels and money from murdered Jews for food to keep his fellow prisoners alive.
One day in July 1942, Lale, prisoner 32407, comforts a trembling young woman waiting in line to have the number 34902 tattooed onto her arm. Her name is Gita, and in that first encounter, Lale vows to somehow survive the camp and marry her.
A vivid, harrowing, and ultimately hopeful re-creation of Lale Sokolov’s experiences as the man who tattooed the arms of thousands of prisoners with what would become one of the most potent symbols of the Holocaust, The Tattooist of Auschwitz is also a testament to the endurance of love and humanity under the darkest possible conditions.
So, tell me friends: what’s the last incredible book you read? Favorite book of 2019? What are you reading right now?

Perspective & Advice for Those Facing Insurmountable Odds
Throughout our journey with Voyage, the one thing we have learned over and over is that hidden within every challenge is a blessing or opportunity. It’s up to us to determine whether a challenge we face will be a step back or the catalyst for a step forward.
We had the honor of connecting with some of the city’s brightest female leaders and role models and we asked them our question of the month: What is the best advice you have for someone who feels like they are facing insurmountable odds.
Below, you’ll find their advice and links and other info so you can learn more about them, their work and how to connect with them. We’ll be interviewing many of these amazing women in the coming weeks, stay tuned.

Just Keep Swimming” as Dory from Finding Nemo says. By that I mean…breathe, be as gentle with yourself as you would be to a dear friend, acknowledge that the challenge is hard however figureoutable. After that, I’d encourage them to imagine what could happen if everything went right?

The best advice I can offer to someone who is facing a challenge they feel is insurmountable, is to take some time and think about all the things they’ve overcome in the past. Even your small wins are proof that you are far more capable, then you give yourself credit for. Tap into your faith & remind yourself that faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains!

I handmake jewelry and started my store 6 months ago today on Etsy. I also have a huge passion for beauty, which I really dove into during a dark time of depression and it turned into a beautiful hobby that has opened several doors. I wasn’t happy with my job after 8 years, I made very good money but I was at such a low place I knew I had to change something, so I walked away, into the unknown but I’m better for it. I would tell anyone who is struggling to find something that makes you happy, that focuses your mind at the task at hand, rather that is a hobby or a potential career opportunity you make for yourself. When I started my Etsy I had no idea what I was doing but I taught myself and constantly look for ways to improve and for a 6 month old shop I’ve been pretty successful. If you are feeling defeated or that things are too hard that is life, nothing is easy. we all have our struggles, highs and lows and that we have to do our best to enjoy and take advantage of the highs so that we can navigate ourselves through the lows because they will happen. There is always light at the end of the tunnel and how quick you get there depends on how determined you are to succeed. What we put into the world is what we get out of it.

Sallie Holder, Business Coach & Speaker
My best advice for someone who feels their challenge is insurmountable is to examine the facts vs. the feelings.  Ask yourself if you simply “feel” that way or if it is a “fact” that the challenge is insurmountable.  Can you say that it is 100% true that the challenge is insurmountable.  I can assure you that 99% of the time that is not true.  We simply feel that way & we tend to allow how we feel about the circumstances dictate our decisions.  We feel like the road ahead will be hard, filled with mountains, and very unclear.  However, the fact is that we only feel that way because the path ahead is new to us.  The fact is that it’s not insurmountable, and that the only thing we need to do is take the NEXT STEP in front of us. The path will appear as you keep taking those next steps. Trust the facts vs. your feelings!

Think back to another time you had an impossible goal— a really large challenge that someway, somehow you made it through. Thinking back to other tough times will encourage your spirit to know that you can press through and will be able to stand withstand the challenge you’re facing now.

Remember to always have faith and speak positively even though the situation may look bleak.  Know that we all go through different phases in our life, and the rain days are just as much beneficial to us as the sunny days.

Take it on by bit by, day by day. Once you break down a big problem into little ones things get a little less overwhelming, at least in my experience.

I never thought I’d see myself here doing what I love and creating happiness for other by the touch of a brush… Walk by faith not by sight.
Paige Walker-photographer and blogger Jeni Mourton-blogger
We all can feel that way from time to time! We have both openly shared our struggles with anxiety, motherhood and business. Our best advice is not to be afraid to reach out for help, whether that’s seeking counsel from friends or family, a trusted industry peer or even speaking to a counselor or doctor. Try and break down the challenge into much smaller manageable tasks or steps and know that this too shall pass!

Don’t procrastinate or live in fear just take the situation head on a press to be great.

Roxanne Carne – Personal Stylist & Shopper
The best advice I have for someone who’s facing a challenge that feels insurmountable is to talk to someone they trust and respect about the situation.  Never underestimate the value of someone else’s insights and experience to help you put things into perspective.  And know that nothing is ever really insurmountable – you just have to rationally figure out how to navigate through it!

Alexis Cavo – Brand Ambassador/ Masters Student
I think that it’s important to realize and we aware that we are going to go through challenges throughout life, and some are going to be bigger than others. It’s something we have to learn how to accept. Life isn’t supposed to be a straight paved road w/ no obstacles. Every bump in the road is there to reach a lesson and to help us grow as humans. So when facing a challenge we feel is to big for us, think about the end results! Regardless of how it goes, it was placed in our life for a reason. So don’t give up!

Nefertiti Beal—Dallas Entrepreneur & Upcoming MUA
I would tell that individual first and foremost that nothing is insurmountable. If you keep limiting yourself & emitting vibes that say this challenge is insurmountable— then it most definitely will be! The more emphasis the universe will put on what you can not accomplish. You will be standing in your own way at that point. Change up your mindset. Change up your habits. If you have to go back to the drawing board a thousand times. Who cares?! Do it! The goal is to progress further than where you were before. The little successes add up to the biggest triumphs. So go hard or go home!

Malarie Hall Photography
The best advice I would give to someone who is facing a challenge that is insurmountable, is to turn to their loved ones. When I’m struggling with anything, I turn to family, friends, and my spouse. Being a mom of two young children, running a business and doing all of my mom/wife duties, gets to be overwhelming at times. I’ve learned that no matter how well you plan, and how well you execute your plan, you will always have setbacks. I take these setbacks as learning lessons and always ask for help if I need it. Always remind yourself that nothing will last forever, no matter how bad things may seem! Be confident, Stay Positive, remember to laugh, give hugs and PRAY! This has always helped me get through my crazy days and keep life less stressful and fun!

Jessica Acy – Content Creator & Stay-at-home Mom
My father always taught us to “be the river”. My interpretation of that continues to evolve but I do know a river doesn’t stop running because a stone, or even a mountain, gets in its way. It either finds a way around or creates an entirely new path by withering down the obstacle with its persistency. When a storm comes, it uses the downpour as fuel to push harder. Even a drought doesn’t last always – the river is patient and waits to be replenished by the source that feeds it. Stay the course, be the river.

*If you like it, you like it for very good reason. That is what is real and pure. As unexpected as it is, it is your dreams, your instagrams that are real, not the environment you’ve been taught to live in. Unlearn everything you’ve been taught. Love art? Then art. Like fashion? Then, fashion. Like interior design? Then interior design it. Live as it pleases you. Pleasure. You deserve it all. Create your environment the way you want it to be. Don’t fall for the “unnecessary” trap ever again. You don’t need a lot of money to make it look great, just a lot of planning.   * It took me a long time to put the pieces together to form a coherent picture. But that is understandable considering the environment I came form. You don’t owe an explanation to anyone for anything. People only understand from their level of perception. No apologies. No limits. *How could have they treated you like this? They’re not smart. They haven’t figured things out. They’re jealous and enjoy making others feel less than them. You would never accuse them of true intelligence. They’re not special. They’re just people in a crowd. *You need to get to the point where damaging emotional echoes don’t dissonate your thoughts and disturb and distract from your planning process. Understand why it happened, and why you no longer need to feel that way. And go on. *They’re just people. They’re not special. They’re just like others in the crowd. You may have begun here, randomly, but they are not your base, not your foundation: that is the ideas you cherish: those make your true foundation. You’ve always been told that because they’re related, you must fit in, you must be liked by them. But they’re just people. And that’s the secret truth: nothing special about them. What would have made them special is the depth of your connection with them. And if that’s not there, it’s not there. All children want to be included, no matter what type of person they’re born to. There’s nothing special here. Blood makes you related, loyalty makes you family. So search for your family. Build your own family, enjoy each moment, no matter how little it lasts. And go on to the next. Learn from your past, then pack your shit, and get the fuck out of there. Never feel guilty for wanting something different or something more. Live as you would like to live. That’s what makes you free.   *be very aware of just how much they tried to put you down and keep you down, destroy your self esteem, and your plans while praising the stupid decisions of others. How they sabotaged your plans, and you, emotionally. * you were always so grateful for any scrap of kindness they showed you, thinking it proved them to be good people. But the truth was, you deserved so much more kindness and support. Never forget that. *you’re not losing them, you never had them. You know it’s true. It’s why you felt so alone all those years. Don’t allow a fiction to cover up the truth, it won’t help you. You’ve got a facemask, and they’re a financial back up plan for now, but that’s it. *Normal is what you say is normal. What you create to be normal. *No wonder you were so fucked up for so long. They made you feel worthless without the grades, and worthless after you didn’t immediately continue killing yourself for the grades. You are more than that. So much more. No more panic. No more doubt. They are  the ones that will not matter, that have never mattered. Not really. Drill into your mind that you are worth so much more. That is a lesson you will have to undo 30 years of teaching to learn, and a lesson you’ll have to teach yourself. You are so much more. Never doubt that. Never forget that. Your mental health should have always been the most important thing, out of everything else.   *The key to living is not worrying or hoping that bad things won’t happen; it’s about knowing that if and when they do, you’ll be able to find a way to beat them; that you’ll figure it out, that everything is figureoutable, that there is always a way, that you must look for it and create the best option for yourself.  Therefore, stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being excited about what could go right. *if you like it, there is a very good reason that you like it. What is that? Beauty moves. • Read between the lines. Never again let them dump their stress onto you. Ignore their moods, whether good or bad. It does not matter. Never let their mood affect you. Don’t ever again fall for the sob stories. You know how those have panned out before. • They were never supportive of you. Not in anything. • Widen your gaze. • Look, then see. • Perspective • “Always keep perspective, • you are the only one in your corner”#highlight • “What would you say if it had happened to anyone else” • • Remember • I don’t hold grudges, I remember facts • I will rememeber and recover not forgive and forget • “Their behavior with you was always quite off” #highlight big black • There’s a message in the way a person treats you, just listen • “there were always signs in the off way they treated you.” • “There were always signs. But as a child, you thought things could change. • Never confuse people who are always around you with people who are alwyys there for you • “Blood makes you related, loyalty makes you family.” • • “You already know the truth”#highlight. • Not everyone who says they love you can be trusted. • “you already know what they are.” • Small, petty, jealous people. • • They love to control others. They always loved having power over others. • Some people will only love you if you fit inside their box don’t be afraid to disappoint. You do not exist for their amusement. • Don’t listen to what people say watch what they do • When people treat you like they don’t care, believe them • • “Jealousy is a big factor in their actions.” Petty jealousy runs through them Don’t ever forget that They PURPOSELY sabotaged you..  #highlight • • “THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO MAKE IT. THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO WIN.” #highlight • You can’t trust them. They’ve never had your best interest in mind.#highlight • You know you can’t trust their judgement, for so many reasons. Therefore, their judgement does not matter. • • Don’t ever delude yourself that you are being too hard on them. There is plenty of proof if you think back. You know what they are. You know what this is. • They sat silent while they tried to humiliate you. Don’t forget that silence. Or the purposeful humiliation. • • When someone shows you who they really are, don’t try to paint a new picture • Don’t listen to what people say watch what they do • When people treat you like they don’t care, believe them • • • • • “Deep down, you already know the truth. You have to stop watering dead plants. You already tried to make it work for far too long. You thought that if you somehow excel, you'd impress them enough to change your relationship dynamic. But it was never about that. They can't see you because of their own deeply ingrained faults. And even if you ever gain this mythical level of supposed success, it won't change that they lacked and still lack the intuition and capacity to see you and your potential. #highlight • They’ll never see you.*****#highlight • No matter what, they will always treat you as if you were inferior. They've proven it, over and over again.#highlight • Think back on just how badly they treated you every time their favorites deigned to show up. It was very clear just how much they valued you while they humiliated and sabotaged you. You know just how little they think of you. • • • • Their petty mindset designated you as unworthy much before you came into the picture.#highlight • • So no matter what you do, if they don't already see your potential, they will never see you. They're incapable. You can't change someone who doesn't see anything wrong with his actions. They are blind and jealous, and they will die the same. Therefore, the best thing to do is make sure they don’t affect you. • They could never see you, they will never see you. • Understood.#highlight • Your value doesn't decrease based on someone's inability to see your worth. And in the end, the truth is, if they can't handle you at your worst, they don't deserve you at your best. • Make sure you don’t start seeing yourself through the eyes of those who don’t value you. • Your value doesn’t decrease based on somene’s inability to see your worth • If you find yourself constantly trying to prove your worth, you’ve forgotten your value. • Someone giving you less doesn’t mean try harder. • “If they don’t value you, don’t try to win their approval. If they don’t value you now, they don’t deserve you. If they’re not there for you now, they don’t deserve you.” #highlight   • • Character is how you treat those who can do nothing for you • If you can’t handle me at my worst then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best. • She saved the best of her for those that understood the worst of her • • I used to say sorry for not being enough for you . . . sorry you couldn’t see my potential and how beautiful I am. #highlight big black • • Never apologize to others for their misunderstanding of who you are • Never apologize for burning too brightly and collapsing, that is how galaxies are made. • • They call us losers and we’re fine with that • “Just like our eyes, our hearts can adjust to the dark. • It was constant constant stress and depression. No wonder you needed time to undestrand and heal. Completely expected and understandable. • They gave you a legacy of anxiety. Change your mindset.” • • • Cracks don’t mean your broken, put to the test and didn’t fall apart • You may feel weak for it, but • That you tried for so long, It’s a ctually a story of your best qualities • • The only thing that matters is how a person makes you feel. The people in your life should be a source of reducing stress not adding to it. • • • You don’t need people in your life who kick you when you’re down to make themselves feel better about their own lives. • The people in your life should make you feel better, not worse. • Reminder: just because you’re lonely, doesn’t mean you should invite someone toxic back into your life • • • • • Hold the good times fondly, but do not let the good times make you forget the bad times. Remember what the relationship has come to and is now. You owe it to yourself. Be honest about how this person made you feel. • • The woman youre becoming will cost you people • • Sometimes you get the best light from a burning bridge • May the bridges I burn light the way • Remember the truth. *Never forget the truth #highlight *don’t forget the facts. • • ……………………………………………………… • I am learning to love the sound of my feet walking away from things not meant for me • The truth is this: • You never had much of a relationship with these people. • Don’t forget the money, the favoritism, the behavior. • Them never helping you inadvertently revealed that you don’t owe them anything at all.Never forget that. • • ********* • • • • • Therefore, be very smart about this. Fund yourself now as much as possible. Work out perfect $ patterns.  Always put yourself first, with both money and time. They are a backup plan but no more than that. You cannot rely on them for any sort of support, but you can play fake just as well/better than/ as they do. • • • Underestimate me. That’ll be fun. / Let them underestimate you. Stay amused. The more they assume, the more you can move under their radar. Do what’s best for you. Your next move is for yourself only. • • • Never sacrifice your goals to better their situation. No matter what, put youself first, with both money and time.#highlight. • • Don’t let them affect you. Focus. Remember what affects you and what does not. Their circumstances don’t affect you. Put yourself first, with both money and time. • Don’t fall for their sob stories. You have before, and they were never true. Assume the worst from now on. You know you’ll be proved right down the road. • It’s a waste of time to even think about their slights #highlight • • • …You don’t owe anything to anyone. And that is pure freedom. ……………………………………………………………………………….. • Understood. • **** *** • • You deserve better. • She promised herself better. • • What you have is pure freedom to create and follow yourself. “ #highlight in large black • Arya house of black and white • Follow your vision. • Alone, by herself, she built the kingdom that she wanted. • Value yourself enough to know you deserve the very best • end • Body: you are consistently sleep deprived. Regular sleep, spa. • • • • • • • • Consider all options, including scrapping the plan/ mission altogether. • Never let anyone know your plans. You don’t tell someone you’ll destroy them, you proceed in doing it. • • Don’t let them affect you. Remember what affects you and what does not. Their circumstances don’t affect you. Put yourself first, with both money and time. • If it is destroying you, it is not love my dear • If its not making you better it isn’t love. True love makes you better. • Saying yesto happiness means saying no to things and people that stress you out • Once you learn how to be happy, you won’t tolerate being around people who make you feel anything else • Once you know how much you’re worth you’ll stop giving people discounts. • • If you want to build a better home you must first demolish the old one • Change your mindset • She promised herself better. • • . *eliminate what doesn’t help you evolve. *everything is figureoutable hustle • The relationship with yourself sets the tone for every other relationship you have • Think of your body as the luxury car you’ve been given. If you descover flaws, you’ll correct them into a well oiled machine. You will fix it to the best of your ability, to the best of possibility. • Eccentric cat lady is what I’m going for, not normal. • It is a disservice to the living to forget the acts of the dead.

Healthy Eating and Exercising is No Walk in The Park but Worth It
Tumblr media
Today is day 45 (7 weeks) of a lifestyle change that I’ve made. This change includes my eating and exercising habits. Before I get into it, I want to go back to a time before this lifestyle change happened and how it lead me to where I’m at today.
The End of September 2015
This was the time that tipped off how tough 2016 was going to be for me on the spectrum of health. The end of that month brewed up this enormous grey cloud that was about to be over me for so much longer than I wanted it to be. That included all parts of me: emotionally, physically, spiritually, and mentally.
We all fall off at some point but why exactly did I fall off is something you might be asking yourself. To be honest, I’m not too sure I have a real answer for you. I could tell you one thing though - I’ve been a person who goes through things without flinching, making a big fuss, or letting anyone know that I’m having a hard time. A huge part of me knows that at that point in my life, God was looking down at me saying, “Honey you aren’t always going to power through all day every day just because you don’t make a big fuss.”
And here is how He showed me.
While I was on my Europe trip at the end of September 2015 I had an accident in Italy the morning of my flight to Paris. My friend and I decided to take a boat tour of the Amalfi Coast before leaving. At the beginning of the tour, the waves were fairly small and the ride was smooth. It was comfortable, relaxing and we were in Italy – what more could we have asked for? But little did we know that the ride back was going to damage me some way or another.
The waves were tough and our driver was maneuvering the boat as best as he could on the ride back. He was doing one thing wrong though. We weren’t completely safe before he attempted to power through the waves. We were bouncing up and down at high levels. Like scary high levels. And all I wanted to do was be on the solid ground as quickly as possible. At the sound of a crack from the arch in my back, I yelled out a cry that I didn’t even know came from me. I was terrified. What if I couldn’t move my legs, what if I couldn’t walk, what if what if what if was all that was running through my head. Thank God I was able to move and walk, but my lower back was throbbing. Because of my yell, the boat finally came to a stop. After some weird exchange of Italian, Spanish, English and the common language of hand gestures the driver sat me in the seats behind the boat’s wheel until we got off. Side note: We both should’ve been there the whole time to avoid all of that. But you live and you learn, right?
With my slight limp, from my back pain, we rushed back to our Airbnb as soon as we finally got off of the boat. It was time to pack up and go. My friend came to my rescue and got all of my stuff together as I laid out on the couch with an ice pack on my lower back. The pain was terrible, sitting down took an eternity and then laying down was another chore that I had to go through. If I were on the trip without her I would’ve never made it out on time for our Paris flight. She took out my clothes, helped me get dressed and arranged my suitcase. Till this day I still thank her and will be doing it for the rest of our lives.
When it was finally time to go back home after the rest of my trip, I went to the doctor to see what was going on with my back right away.
October 2015 and Much of 2016
My back’s diagnosis – An L1 compression fracture aka a fractured vertebrae + herniated disk. What!?!?!? I was in shock because that alone sounds terrible to me. But I still seemed to manage to be extremely thankful that I could at least walk normally. The only problem I had was sitting, laying, and getting up.
When I made my visit to a spine doctor, he was surprised that I was okay with only lower back soreness and trouble bending down. I was put into a brace for a month, given painkillers, told not to do any exercises, and then given physical therapy for about 3 months after the brace came off. That was as active as it could get. Yipee but not really.
A thing like an accident puts you in a funk. It made me weaker and not able to move around as much, which meant I had more time to sit around and eat. Emotional eating is never a good idea, which is what I was doing. The eating didn’t stop.
I then traveled to Spain, New Orleans, and California soon after I was done with physical therapy. Traveling is something I love so much and where I indulged in food without thinking much. Not the greatest of things to be mindless of. That mindset put me in an I don’t care what I’m eating type of attitude and my body was showing it completely.
I gained about 15 pounds in places I’ve never gained weight and I had no idea how to make it stop. My version of heavy might not be heavy to others but it was way too heavy for me. The heaviest I’ve ever been. Everything I tried – eating my version of healthy, putting in more exercise into my routine and anything else I would usually do to shed some pounds, was just not working. Is this what happens when you’re closer to your 30s? Frustration, sadness, and hopelessness were becoming my only feelings. It wasn’t until the end of November 2016 that positive feelings started re-surfacing.
During the months of Spring and Summer, I kept telling myself you need to get out of this funk. Enough was enough. I decided to get real with myself and with that, my world did a 360 just in time for the new year.
New Year New Me in 2017
Tumblr media
I waited until the holidays were over to get myself together because let’s get real, food is more than tempting around that time of the year. As the new year came I went into it with a strong promise to myself that 2017 will be more of self love. It was going to be my number 1 priority to put my health first more than ever. And this has truly become the biggest and best commitment to myself.
With clean eating 7 days out of the week and working out 5, my body has made a transformation that I’m very proud of. This transformation hasn’t been a walk in the park and I don’t believe it ever will be, but the results of pushing forward and sticking to my end goal have been extremely rewarding.
I’ve lost 8 pounds and have 7 more to go! My waist is smaller, my bottom has more shape, my legs have thinned out, my stomach is flatter, and my mood is better. It’s more than I could’ve done months ago and more than I could’ve done if I allowed myself to stay in my negative feelings.
As cliché as this might sound – you can set your mind to do anything, whether the goal seems reachable or not, you can do it. Like one of my favorite people to look up to has said, “Everything is figureoutable.” - Marie Forleo

What can you do today to get closer? Do your best, try your best again the next day and the day after and keep doing so until you over come it.. continuously asking oneself how can I grow and learn from this and do differently next time.
