Hey friends!
I want to preface this post by saying, no Witch needs to feel like they don’t have ‘enough’. No ritual tool is ‘necessary’ in the sense that you need to go broke for them. A lot of Witches, and non-Witches alike feel ‘less than’ because they don’t have an entire garden of herbs or a big bookshelf of crystals. Use what you have – magic isn’t about the ingredients, it’s about the intention. The only ingredient you really need, is you. Most Witches I know tend to be absolute hoarders (myself included) but I find the more stuff you have, the further from, and less reliant on your own power you become.
Now that that’s out of the way, welcome to our final Ritual Tool Thursday! Today we’re talking about Crystals and Herbs. So many options! So many to choose from! What do they do? Which one is right for me? How do I use them?
I say this all the time, and in my experience it still holds true. Crystals and herbs are and aren’t like modern medicine. They are in the sense where just like any pill, they’ll affect us all differently. Yes they kind of have their ‘standard’ properties, but everyone is different. When it comes to Crystals, we all have our own energetic frequency, and so do Crystals. They’ll interact with us all differently. Sometimes they’ll negate, amplify, or compliment our own energies, in many different ways. Same thing when it comes to Herbs – we all have different reactions to anything we come into contact with. Some may be allergens, while they have no effect on some people. It all depends on the person. Where they aren’t like modern medicine is that I find, (and this may be a cheap shot at the pharmaceutical industry) is that pharmaceuticals focus on the symptom. Sure whatever over the counter medicine you take might stop your sneezing and cough, but it rarely kills the cold. What I’ve noticed with Crystals and Herbs, they like to target and kill the cold. That’s why with Crystals for example, you’ll be drawn to one that’s supposed to do ‘XYZ’ when you really wanted ‘ABC’ because you thought that’s what you needed. With both Crystals and Herbs, it’s always better to go with your intuition.
When it comes to Crystals, there are so many ways you can use them! All coming in different shapes and sizes, all of which can find their own unique use. Putting them in a wand for example to amplify the energy, keeping them with your deck of cards to clear and empower them, putting them under your pillow for sleep, in your bra so they’re close to your heart, in your sock so they ground you, SO many uses. I’ve used them in Crystal grids, for Crystal massage, in spellwork and charms. Jewelry is also a really great way to keep them on you, such as bracelets, rings, and necklaces. There are also various ways to clear and empower your Crystals, such as leaving them in the Full Moonlight to clear and charge, smoke clearing them, giving them Reiki to clear and empower, in some cases water (but keep in mind not all crystals can come into contact with water like Selenite for example). You can really do anything and everything with Crystals – let your intuition and imagination run wild with them! Like I said, they vibrate at their own energetic frequency. We’ve learned in like Grade 3 Science that even in solid matter, the atoms vibrate. Take that with the geological makeup of the Crystal, and you have a very unique powerbank when coupled with your own energy. A common myth is that the raw Crystals are more ‘powerful’ because they’re in a more ‘natural’ state compared to polished Crystals. I personally haven’t found a difference in their ‘potency’. I like the look of raw Crystals myself, but the shapes that some of the polished ones come in can serve purpose, such as a Crystal ball or wand. Also, there are some man-made Crystals again which some think are less ‘powerful’, but even those are made from natural elements, and carry those energetic properties.
When it comes to Herbs, they also have a wide variety of uses. Before working with any Herb though, I suggest doing your homework when it comes to some that can be poisonous, as well as some that may give you an allergic reaction. Safety is number one. Speaking to that, there are some you shouldn’t be ingesting at all, and even still make sure the ones you do ingest are chemical free and safe for ingestion. Herbs can be brewed into teas and potions, infused with salves and oils, baked into breads and cookies. They can also be used in baths – that being said, again beware of what is and isn’t skin safe, and what you may be sensitive to. Peppermint for example, which is used in a multitude of ways, can burn like all Hell when applied topically to ‘sensitive’ and ‘delicate’ parts of the body.. All which I unfortunately had firsthand experience in, so just be careful. Herbs can also be crushed and used to create incense and smoke blends – all the properties of the herbs are used to carry out whatever the purpose of that working is. Spell jars and charms may also contain Herbs.
Crystals and Herbs are great tools to have, coming in endless varieties all with their own specific uses. Each one containing its own Spirit that ultimately wants to help you with your growth and wellness. What are some ways that you use Crystals and Herbs? What are some of your favourites? Comment below!
As always, thank you again for allowing me to be a part of your wellness, and if there are any questions send them my way and I’ll be happy to answer them to the best of my ability.
Love and Light!
Bye guys!
