Nam-gyu / Player 124 Headcanons

Pairing: Nam-gyu / Player 124 x fem!reader

Warnings: Mentions of death/dying, gunshots, drug use/heroin use (typical squid game stuff), other than that it's just fluff, not proof read (english isn't my first language)

જ⁀➴ Walking down these strangely colorful stairs, with the equally strange backgroud music being the only thing that filled the silence between all the surviving players, made you feel like throwing up. You just witnessed people literally die right in front of you, shot for the smallest movement. If it wasn't for the adrenalin pumping throughout your body, you sure as hell wouldn't have survived either.

Suddenly, you felt a hand on your shoulder, making you jolt. "Woah," Player 124, according to his jacket, stopped in his tracks when you did, too, holding up his hands in a defensive manner, "sorry. Didn't mean to startle you." While you just looked at him annoyed, a grin started to form on his lips: "What? Just wanted to know if you're okay. You scared or something?"

જ⁀➴ From then on Nam-gyu refused to leave you alone, constantly teasing you about your, very valid, fear and distress. No insults, no nothing made him stop - no - the purple haired junkie egged him on. After some time you just started to ignore him, or at least tried to. For whatever reason, Nam-gyu was very touchy with everybody, but especially you. He dragged, grabbed and shook you by your shoulders like a ragdoll when talking to you, sometimes weirdly rubbing over your back in an almost comforting way.

જ⁀➴ He'd purposefully walk past your bed to hush a quick "Good night." before lights out, often times observing you in the golden light of the piggy bank that was the only dim light source at night. Seeing you struggle to find some rest made him chuckle to himself, knowing that he had the same problem, too.

જ⁀➴ Before the first voting, he'd grab you by your arm, trying to charm you into voting in favor of the games. It was almost like he was able to sense that you wanted to quit, but it should've been blatantly obvious. Only someone with a death wish would want to continue this. Maybe he had one, after all. Once, you noticed from afar how he was nagging Thanos to give him one of those colored pills, drugs, pushing the sleeve of his right arm up to reveal the inside of his elbow. From your distance, you couldn't quite make out what he was showing him, but you assumed it were heroin marks. Well, now you kinda felt bad for him.

જ⁀➴ You weren't quite sure what to think of him. Nam-gyu would often bite around his fingernails, tug his sleeves over his hands, since this place was deathly cold sometimes, and stress over many things you also stressed about. Noticing you two weren't all that different after all, you warmed up to the idea of interacting with him.

જ⁀➴ Obviously, it couldn't all go the way you wanted it to. Not being affiliated with anyone around here proved itself to be a much greater problem during the mingle.

As soon as the spinning platform everyone tried to balance themselves on stopped along the music, the female announced the number: "Ten!". Immediately players started to scramble and hurry to find themselves a group, a group of men almost running you over. Fear, stress, anxiety, dread - You felt all of it at once. The clock was ticking down and all you could is stand there and look around you, already accepting your fate. But, apparently, the universe said no: A hand quickly grabbed you by your arm, forcefully pulling you with them. You were slammed against the wall of one of the small rooms as the door shut behind you, the timer reaching zero almost directly after. "What the fuck were you thinking? Seriously? Why did you just stand there?" it was Nam-gyu who was yelling at you, keeping you pinned against the wall by your shoulders. "Do you wanna get yourself killed?" You stared up at him, with a kind of offended expression, and he just stared back. In fact, all other eight players were staring at you two. Noticing the deafening silence, Nam-gyu turned his head around to Thanos, who just raised an eyebrow. "What? We need more people to vote 'O' anyway."

જ⁀➴ You felt like you owed him something now. Picking away at some of the kimbap you couldn't bring your to eat anymore, you scanned the dorm area for Nam-gyu. He was surprisingly alone for a moment, Thanos being off to bother someone else with whatever problem he came up with now.

Hesitantly, you took quick steps towards Nam-gyu's bed, coming to a halt right in front of it. He saved your life, the least you could do was give him some of your food that was being handed out to you players pretty sparsely. Feeling your presence behind him, he tucked a few strands of his hair behind his ears, not even needing to turn around to know it was you. "What is it?" Perhaps he was a bit embarrassed because of that moment after all. You sat down next to him on the, pretty uncomfortable mattress, handing him the rest of your food you wrapped back up in the aluminum foil. Just a quick moment of eye contact was enough for him to understand that you were really grateful for what he did back there.

જ⁀➴ If the guards wouldn't let you use the bathroom, claiming this late at night no one would be able to, Nam-gyu would be the one to come over to the door, hammering against the glass and demand that they let you in. "Come on, she's a woman," he'd exclaim, "have some decency." And when the door finally opened, you'd give him a smile. An actual, honest one.

જ⁀➴ It's as if Nam-gyu lived for that. Your smile, your small acts of gratefulness after he saved your life. You've grown on him - he'd even understand it if you'd continue to vote against resuming the games. Thinking about you being able to live your life to the fullest made him happy, even if he didn't understand that feeling quite yet.

Edit: i finished the whole episode and realised that marcille doesn't even try to attack falin, unless everyone there except for the two (2) halflings and senshi, instead she begs the others to not hurt her and tries to reason whith falin. And then chilchuck has to phisically drag marcille away from falin like 😭😭

And the low blow to laios "laios, brother" dam that gave me chills, also laios at first was "wow my lil sis is so cool", then tried the same thing as marcille and lastly gave up and attacked her

omg thank you for that ask, i complained about this to another fan yesterday on here because they were already complaining about the fandom and they acted super dismissive about my concerns of the show sidelining louis and all of a sudden having the money to market the show… plus rolin basically admitting during season 2 that amc had greenlit the show with the prospect of reaching tvl, like this is all documented and yet (white) people get mad when somebody points this out (this person’s followers literally asked them to tag the asks as fandom discourse).

its really sad to see this show turn into the likes of good omens, ofmd in terms of fandom white shenanigans but also the way the creators have been acting way more enthusiastic about the next season than the season that just ended a month ago is just very disheartening and it must be even more frustrating for the leads of color given that delaney and assad were barely asked any relevant questions during interviews at sdcc. also the way fans have been treating any criticism of this as “discourse” or “drama” because now finally they have a white protag and can see themselves reflected on him, now finally the poc can leave the room and we can have fun with our white fave all we want :)

Not the good omens and ofmd comparison, the two most annoying fandoms sfjdk. So true about fans dismissing any criticism as discourse or drama. Personally my main issue is with the marketing department and parts of the fanbase and i have a bit more trust in Rolin. I don't think he would've chosen to include themes of racism and abuse so heavily in the first two seasons if they didn't genuinely interest him, and we know that putting Lestat in every episode in s2 was something that the network demanded and they had to come up with dreamstat, implying that Rolin himself would've included Lestat less if it was his decision. But he does say some weird and irritating stuff sometimes that makes me go dude what are you even talking about i hope you're joking. We'll see is he worth my cautious trust

I think this season we've really suffered from the lack of black and other non-white interviewers and critics having access to the show and cast. Like Autumn's videos were fun enough but they could never replace something like Naomi's podcast in s1 which was cancelled. It's actually crazy how the themes of race and racism though maybe less explicit were just as strong this season as in s1, but almost no one outside of non-white fans on tumblr and twitter talks about it. Like everything that happened to Louis and Claudia this season, concluding to actual public lynching, is inextricable from their race (and i'm 100% sure it was intentionally written that way) but it's like it doesn't even cross all those mostly white interviewers and critics and hosts' minds to ask about it. Like as someone with South Asian heritage living in a white majority and racist as hell country if i got to interview Assad literally my first question would be how Armand's Indian backgroud influences his character and experiences and how he and other characters perceive it. I mean i don't think you need to be non-white to ask questions about stuff related to race, but unfortunately lots of white people aren't really interested in it or think about it all

Chayanne is the one responsible for being both the cook of the group and one of the leaders, he took it upon himself to take care of his siblings.

Pomme is also the other leader of the group, and also the healer, always ready to splash potions on any of her brothers and sister. She is also one of their best warriors

Richas is responsible to try and draw a map of where they are so they can stop getting lost, but it's impossible cause the place keeps changing and he feels guilty about it, everyone keeps saying that it's not his fault that the place is weird but he definitely doesn't agree

Dapper helps with potions in general be it health ones, night vision or any other that they need. She and Pomme are the deadly duo of the group being some of the best warriors.

Ramon can't build any create things in that dimension, so he mostly keeps himself content by either helping Dapper with potions or trying to come up with strategies for how they can move on.

Leo I will be honest, I'm not completely sure what she would want to prioritize, something tells me that she would be responsible for stealth, like maybe robbing enemy camps for supplies or something like that.

Talullah would go from the most protected one of the group to the one who kills the most people I'm sure of it

Personality

She’s gentle and kind to everyone she meets- usually a soft spoken sweetheart who loves her friends to death. Always making sure you stay fed and hydrated.

Yet she does have a dark side that occasionally slips out- she picks her words carefully to lure the people who hurt her friends into a spiders web. She can draw out your deepest insecurities and whoops- suddenly she’s got no remorse in posting your drama on the internet. She’s only did this twice though- once in high school and once near the day she went on hiatus.

Backgroud

Yukiko lived in a poor family. Her father gone and her mother just trying to make ends meet. She was a happy child though- her mother and her were extremely close.

Somedays her mother would bring strange men home- the men would disappear with her mother for awhile into the bedroom and the men would come out later and leave. Some men didn’t return and some did- some even would wave goodbye to her whenever they left. Some men were not so nice and her mother always sobbed when they left. Whenever the worse men came around Yukiko would always try and be extra nice for her mom- she was working after all.

In school she met a girl named Ryoko- the two slowly managing to form a close friendship. Every day Ryoko would buy her food for lunch and everyday Yukiko would make the bullies leave Ryoko alone. A few years into middle school she would meet a boy named Aiko and by extension- a girl named Kirumi. She grew rather fond of Aiko- developing a crush on him. As for Kirumi…well she became rather overprotective of her.

Her and Aiko were dropping off papers to a different teacher when she heard Kirumi crying for help that fateful day. She remembers holding Kirumi close to her- taking off her jacket to cover the poor girl up as Aiko beat up the teacher who hurt her.

When Aiko was expelled and the teacher faced no punishment- Yukiko felt nothing but a burning rage. She had a plan- and she recruited Ryoko and a few other kids to help her enact it. Luring the teacher to a deserted location with the help of Ryoko- Yukiko (with the help of a few more stronger kids) jumped the man. Beating him and threatening him to force him to leave town.

The man never left though- he ran right into the arms of the police. If anyone believed him about being beat up they seemed to turn a blind eye to it.

At age 20 she managed to land a job…after a couch interview. Impressed with her…talent- she managed to take gig after gig after gig. Eventually she made her name in the adult film world under the moniker of “Snow queen”. Rubbing elbows with other stars like Aika Yumi.

At the age of 27 though a prominent adult film maker was exposed by Yukiko herself. She opted to leave the industry for awhile after that- wanting the drama to just die down before she even thought about returning.

Throughout the years she kept close contact with her three friends from highschool. The same year she left the adult film industry she finally got together with her longtime crush- Aiko Mayeda.

She never would have thought she would end up where she is now. Taking over as the third member of Takasuki division after the death of Ryoko Minamoto.

Hanamura's Vigilante; White Dragon, Part 1

Summary: A white dragon is terrifying Hanamura's city, no one knows where it belongs or how does it exist, you knew about it, but finally realized that is actually real.

*At Hanamura town*

You- *Working in a small bakery, making some fluffy japanese strawberry cake and some clients come in talking about something kind...weird. You bow to them to say hello, but they were so immersed in the conversation that didn't even noticed you. It was 3 girls, young girls, talking about something like...a...dragon?"

Girl 1- This is madness, dragons do not exist! Magic is not real in this world.

Girl 2- If is from another world?!

Girl 3- They saw it! They took pictures! Look at this! *show her the phone* This is real!

Girl 1- But it can also be fake.

Girl 3- But it also can be true!

Girl 2- I think we should figure it out.

Scientists has being collecting informations about the creatures and they affirm; "There's no such thing as magic creatures, it may be a sort of new specie or even a very old creature". The biologists are enchanted by the huge animal, they affirm that will find and study the creature with healthy techniques that will not harm or disturb the animal; "It should be studied and be observed, it may be the last of the specie. An old kind of animal like this? It must be protected!".

Girl 3- Oh dear...! It is real!

Girl 1- We told you!

Girl 2- This is so cool! The biologists believe that it may be a very, very and very old dragon! They talk about it, hear me out; "Dragons are old creatures that we, scientists, have being studying for ages. It has been found bones in deep caves, now with this new situation, we believe that this dragon has being lived here for more than 900 years!" Isn't that cool?! *jumping of happiness*

Girl 3- Dude, I'm scared! Imagine that appears walking close to my house?!

You- *laughs* A dragon would not dare to come to the city, if it has really more 900 years old, he know humans better than anyone.

Girl 2- That's true...well, let's eat and we talk about it!

*You serve the girls and leave this conversation behind. A dragon, a new specie, well... whatever, is very huge and looks dangerous. After a long day of work you were cleaning the story, it is about 8pm, the city is quite and no one was in the streets, the news said that people of Hanamura is very scary about the "dragon" so, they stayed at home. You were cleaning the floor, listening to a calm music and the rest completely quite. Suddenly, a type of a roar in the backgroud, not that far away, but not like a lion...like...Godzilla... you got scared and look at the window for a few seconds, trying to listen again, but nothing."

You- *sighs* Better hurry up...

*You were worry, of course, is a fricking dragon! Well, in the pics, it has claws and teeth, equal, dangerous. You close the rest of the store quickly and heard again the same Godzilla scream, but...closer. Scared, in shock, you start to run to the bus stop, but...you believe that...maybe the city haven't any bus around tonight...the creature literally stops everything. No cars, no bus, no human on the city...everyone is terrified. You start to walk home, totally alert with everything around you, you heard the Godzilla again and again, and release that looks like a...cry...? Maybe the dragon is hurt or something, maybe...but this is not your problem! After one hours of walk, you get safe at home. A very sweet home surround by Hanamura's nature. You enter the house exhausted and throw yourself in the coach for a while.*

You- I'm alive...! *laughs* I'm blessed...! *You take a deep breath and stayed In silence for a while...but youheard a unusual sound in the back of your house...like a...heavy breath...a monstrous breath*

*You open your eyes and slowly get up from the sofa looking at the window to see if there is something outside you could see...you were terrified. Maybe is just your imagination or your head being exhausted. But then...you saw something like a tail passing through the windows, wiggling around. You stopped and your breath too. While the girls were eating earlier that day, you keeped watching the news. The thing is real, they posted videos about it and is no joke. You wonder why, if is really there in the back of your house, why is the dragon there... ok, your house is practically in the middle of a bunch of trees, maybe he's trying to hide...but...really? Your house? You slowly walk through the house in baby steps hearing a kind of a cry coming from the...thing. At the window you try to look at it, shaking and your heart was racing fast than usual. Your breath hit the windows glass and you could see a huge white creature, wiggling the tail nonstop and he looks...in pain?*

Dragon- *grunts*

You- Why my house...? *whispers and keep looking at him* You're huge...!

*To have a better idea of your house, you had this amazing garden...I mean, is like a open field, not exactly your garden, but...yeah! Is beautiful!*

You- What the hell I do...?! *You step back and try to lock the door. I mean, is a dragon, is a thing, but... you don't know how smart he is, right? The locker made a loud sound and you got frozed for a moment, stop breathing again and stand still hearing the creature grunting, looking a little hit at the window, the tail stopped...that's kind...worry*

You- You didn't hear me...right...? Please...!

*You slowly stepped back thinking in calling to the police or something like that, but...they may hurt the animal, maybe...leave him rest tonight, right? You take a deep breath trying to take back your sanity for a moment. Everything you do, looks dangerous...should you just standing there and...that's it? No way. You back to the windows and the dragon changed the position, now looking at the door and smelling your presence...! Oh great! You hide at the same second you notice, hear the grunts again and now he was smelling the window*

You- No no no no! *you whisper to yourself shaking* That's not real! Is not real!

Dragon- *try to open the window with the nose*

You- Shit! Shit shit shit...! *You crawl out going under the table* This is a dream! That's not real!

Dragon- *Actually brakes the window and grunts in confuse, then putting the nose inside the house*

You- Ooh shiit...!

Dragon- *smells you for a moment and grunts, like if he was calling*

You- What...?! *You notice that wasn't a agressive sound, it was like...a tiny sound, like "someone there?"* Oh no, I'm not going...! *almost crying*

Dragon- *The creature take a deep breath getting out of the window and standing up in pain, walks to another window...right behind you and you followed with the eyes. His eyes, blue eyes, was directly looking at you, peacefully*

You- *Paralyzed while looking at him, and again you heard him "calling"* What the f...? *You slowly stands up, barely feeling your legs and in baby steps, walking to the broken window*

Dragon- *He come back to the broken window and put the nose again, close to you, you step back making him make the tiny grunting calling*

You- You're not...dangerous? *you suddenly talk to him, not expecting to answer, is a freaking animal*

Dragon- *Suddenly reply your question with a short sound*

You- Wait...what?! You just answered?! *Again he answered* This a "yes"? You understand? *He step back and you get close to the window watching the creature agreeing with the head* Good lord you're majestic...you...you can understand me...you...wanna me to...? *look at him and see a wound in his paw, it was bleeding and looks very painful* You...wanna help?

Dragon- *Agreed with the head*

You- Oh...you're more intelligent than I thought... And not that scary. *pause* I'm talking to a dragon...*sighs* It's a dragon! A dragon in my house! *laughing*

Dragon- *confuse*

You- Oh, I'm sorry...! I'm just...confused. You're a dragon! Dragon should not exist in this reality! You know? *Dragon agreed* Really? Wait what? Why? Are from another reality?

Dragon- *Grunts disagreeing*

You- *laughs* Right...you lived so many centuries that you can understand us?

Dragon- *Disagreed*

You- ... *thinking and step back* I'll get the med kit.

*You were trying to find to medkit trying to think to much about... all that mess*

You- A dragon is talking to me...*sighs* Ok...ok. Got it! *hold the medkit and goes back to the kitchen* Mister Dragon! *He puts the nose inside the house again trought the window, scarying you* Oh! You answered fast... by the way, you're a boy?

Dragon- *grunts in agreement*

You- Ok...I think this is was positive. I'll be calling you... Dragon. Mister Dragon. You have a name? *You walks outside and he agrees* Oh! Really? Wow, you guys are very interesting.

Dragon- *lay down showing his paw*

You- You hurt yourself? Or someone hurted you? *sit down close, still scared af* I'm...look...you're not going to eat me, really?

Dragon- *sighs and agreed*

You- What do you eat? Meat? *Immediately he replied with a grunt* No? That looks negative. Fruits? Fish? Fish is meat...*no answer and you focused on the paw* I'll stop making so many...questions. This is a deep cut, Mister Dragon... I'll try the best I can.

I hope this doesn't come across as mean spirited in any way, just wanted to add to a discussion and need to get these thoughts off my chest after seeing your Saltburn post.

After reading/listening to a bunch of interviews/q&as with Barry Keoghan and Emeral Fenell i'm pretty sure that at least the intention was that he's not 100% honest with himself/us in that monologue and it shouldn't be taken at face value.

For one Barry has said something like that Olivers motivation changes throghout the film and that he (Oliver) is often confused and not completly aware of what he really wants.

Emerald has said multiple times that the first idea about the film she had was someone saying "i didn't love him" and then licking that persons bathtub and that therefore that that person's obviously not being entirely truthful and that line is part of how he starts the monologue so i'm pretty sure we aren't supossed to take the whole thing at face value.

I can't remember which of the multiple live q&as you can find on youtube it is but i also remember her responding in a after the film q&a to someone seemingly having that same read of the film i've seen so many people have of Oliver being a mastermind that had this whole plan laid out from the start and she said something like that it was in part actually more like responsive to the situation from moment to moment

Like it starts with him seeing Felix and being like "i wanna get closer to that guy" and since he has seemingly always just been good at knowing what people want and giving it to them (another thing emerald has been reapeating in a lot of q&as) he knows that setting up the bike and drinks at the bar situation and a sob story of a family backgroud will get Felix's attention but then like he always does Felix get's bored and starts pulling away so Olivers like "aw fuck what do i do? oh i know just up the story by saying my dad died" and that does make Felix invite him to Saltburn but that wasn't like the concious end goal of that action he just wanted to get Felix's attention back in that moment and i don't believe Felix dying in any way was a concious goal at any other time but pretty much right before he did it. His obsession with him comprising of part loving him, hating him and wanting to be him just escalated to that point.

Now, you could say that with so many (hard to say but maybe even the majority of) people "misunderstanding" the film/that part as him accuratly, sincerly and 100% honestly revealing that he masterminded and planned the whole thing from pretty much the beginning that they (Emerald & Co.) just did a bad job of getting that across which would be fair.

As someone that didn't read the film/monologue that way and then was validated by all the q&as i've seen i can't lie that it hasn't been at least a little frustating that so many people "misread" that part (or take it "too" honestly) but i would say that it's more the fault of the film actually not making that intention clear enough. Also "death of the author" and all that, i guess.

But i would recommend checking out all the after film q&as with Emeral Fenell you can find on youtube anyway if you're interested.

it could surely be read in that way - i have not seen the q&a’s, i’ll check them out! i think i personally focused on the class commentary because of how much of a trend it is in cinema at the moment. discussions of social status and class have always been apart of media (i was talking about maupassant in my previous post, which goes all the way back to the 19th century), but it has become more prevalent in mainstream cinema nowadays. everyone is trying their hand at it, and i would argue that parasite winning the oscar for best picture reinforced the idea that class commentary in movies was socially acceptable enough to still win awards.

my main issue with saltburn is that the same story has been done multiple times before, and apart from cinematography, i fail to see what saltburn brings to the table. @tigerfancy mentioned the talented mr ripley earlier in my notes, which i’d forgotten about, but it is very similar and strikes that balance between obsessive, unreliable narrator and mastermind social climber quite clearly. someone i know irl also mentioned summer of 85 (été 85) and how in her eyes, saltburn is essentially a ripoff of that. it’s all inspiration; but seeing all these other stories that deal with this nuance more adequately unfortunately makes saltburn look clumsy in comparison.

maybe oliver is indeed not being 100% truthful, and he didn’t actually mastermind anything beyond his first meeting with oliver up to the point where he is invited to saltburn. personally, though, it does not make the monologue any less gimmicky to me. maybe the intention was not clear enough. maybe saltburn was trying to pull from too many of its inspirations and lost itself along the way. but i totally respect your interpretation of the film! and it would indeed be much better if the monologue at the end is oliver trying to convince himself rather than him revealing earnestly that he masterminded the whole thing.

This is an AU that spans from the late 1950s to just shy of modern-day. With the exception of the prologue, it goes in order. It begins in the fall of 1959 at Dalton Academy and follows the trajectory of the American gay experience through our not-always-so-happy couple. While the central story series is Klaine, there are some genfic stories on the side, set in the same universe and timeframe. Mostly because, as I planned out the main story, I kept coming back to all the ways in which the members of New Directions would be different 50 years ago, how many ways their worlds would be unfamiliar or more limited than we think of today. For all politicians seem to talk about what a great time the 1950s were, they weren't for a lot of people.

There will be links periodically to songs involved in the story. Sometimes it's a big plot point, sometimes the character is singing it, sometimes it's just what's on in the background. Think of it like the soundtrack, since it's not something we can hear in the episode because there is no episode. Or disregard it entirely, that's up to you.

He's known as the biggest hero/villain nerd streamer out there. His backgroud is so full of official and unofficial merch that it's ridiculous XD

People disliked him at first because he actually liked the HIVE. But overtime, they got over it because Karl simply doesn't care.

Karl would often play video games on stream with the HIVE. They would have voice alters to avoid people connecting the dots.

His viewers always wonder who the people he's playing with (outside the MB crew) are. They're always so loud, and funny, and charismatic, and they want to see them! But Karl always dismisses the idea because his friends 'are really shy'.

Since Karl plays with faceless people who uses the most outrageous names (i.e Miles Memeington, Grievous Ugly, Drew P. Wiener) and are somewhat impossible to find anything about, his viewers tend to make theories. The most prominent ones are 'they are just super smart AIs that Karl made/bought' and 'Karl is a superhuman who can use multiple computers and play on multiple different accounts and voice everyone at the same time'.

The theories never fail to make everyone laugh. Dream even moderatesa Reddit page(?) just so he has a front row seat on the ridiculousness of Karl Jacobs' fans. (not making fun of his actual fans lmao, just this au's KJ fans XD)

Your lyric change anon got me thinking... there’s this, I don’t know, idea within the fandom that all moments must be equally important to everyone or they don’t count. (I’m not saying this is what other anon was getting at but it seems to be a common theme that occasionally lead to very heated discussion.)

The thing is all jikookers have moments that are especially significant to them and moment they think are “overhyped” or just not as important. What these moments are vary from person to person and depend very much on who we are, our past experience, and how we interpret a certain situation.

Some people think their bold “scripted” moments are extremely important (black swan, home, dynamite holiday remix) and some don’t. Basically no one ever talk about the moments that made me go... oh wow... maybe... are they?? Partly because many of them are tiny and others not as easily gifable as other moments. Obviously I love the huge moments too but the ones that really makes me wonder are all tiny (and very recent).

Take the latest bomb with Tae trying on sunglasses for example. For me, a very secure jikook-supporter, it’s a very good example of jikook always together pretty much from start to finish but since the end is Jikook always together with Tae in the middle (bcs Jimin decide they should help him) you bet it’s going to be a HUGE taekook moment and proof of their star crossed undying love. Almost certainly with the instigator (Jimin) cut out of the gifs perhaps also with some body language analysis to say how it was all JK’s idea actually. It’s all about perspective.

We all see different moments as significant but the thing about Jikook is that they have consistently been having these moments with each more often than any of the others for a very very long time. It doesn’t matter if the fandom doesn’t agree on which moments are most important or if all their moments can be explained in one way or another, because you can’t explain away their very obvious closeness or the consistency of their actions. Jimin and Jungkook always together from debut to 2021.

I hear you anon, and you are probably right. I think sometimes we need validation from other people so as not to seem "delulu", but in the end we all interpret things differently, or at least sometimes. This is quite a subjective issue. Although there will be things or moments that are quite understandable there will be others that are open to different interpretations. They will mean more to one than to others, that's inevitable. It's a similar thing for me, for me many of my favourite moments are of them in the backgroud doing basically nothing, or just talking. Like in the last bangtan bomb, when jungkook was... joking with the maknae maknae of the group and Jimin was just standing super close behind him. I love those moments, most probably for others the fact that jungkook seemed to slapped jimin in the ass means more. I think it's normal. And respectable.

When I saw the end of that bangtan bomb I thought the same as you, and looking at some asks in my inbox I was right and so were you. Apparently that little clip proved that jikook broke up and that taekook is real.

Naoto: This thing (as he brings a big box into view), I’m not sure I should call it a treasure. It’s more like a treasure and a bother. Gun-chan told me, “Naoto-san this is your birthday present.” The bag holding it was really really big. I bought it home and it was really heavy and I was wondering what it was. I opened it with a great deal of excitement and it turned out to be a kayak!

Everyone just starts laughing.

Iwata: Isn’t a kayak great!

Naoto: I wanted to ask the guys: do I look like I go kayaking?

Ryuji: No you don’t.

Meanwhile Tosaka claps gleefully.

Iwata: Naoto-san is the kind who likes hills and rivers (Naoto agrees) and I have this image of him going to these places. I had this thought where maybe he would just happen to go to a river in private and think “AH, there’s a kayak loaded in my car, why don’t I bring it out for a run?”

Tosaka: Do you really expect that kind of miracle to happen?

Background voice: Although the conversation doesn’t stop here, we need to move on to the main theme.

Masu: To the members of sandaime J soul brothers, it’s still a bit early, but this year’s November 10th is the 10th anniversary of your debut. Congratulations! (The members thank him) This is a great opportunity so we would like to look back on ZIP! and sandaime’s history from our first meeting.

Background voice: From the precious archive footage of ZIP!, let’s look back on the 10 year history of sandaime J soul brothers. The first one is from June 2011 at their first album release event.

Elly: For Masu-san to have managed to remembered all of that choreography, it was really quite hard.

Masu: Yes, they gave me a week and so I had the time to turn the steps into words and from there I managed to remember.

Tosaka: Oh yeah you turned them into words

Naoto: You transcribed the dance moves.

Footage-Masu: I transcribed your steps into words. (someone comments that he was all serious business) Macho pose~Macho~macho

Footage-Naoto: This has never been heard of before right? This transcription of dance choreography into words.

The clip switched to Elly rolling across the stage while everyone took turns jumping over him.

Ryuji: Masu jumped over Elly.

Masu: Elly told me, “It’s okay if you step on me”, but there was no mirth in his eyes at all so I was really afraid.

Background voice: Then in June 2014 the release of Ryusei whose dance moves became a social phenomenon. After that the star studded Sandaime J soul brothers also appeared on ZIP! several times. How much of the interview do they remember? Let’s find out! The interview we have prepared is from November 2015, where after appearing on the music special “Best artist”, they were asked about a recent “Best scene”

Naoki: So on November 10th we will celebrate our 5th anniversary, and it is coincidentally also my birthday.

Background voice: That’s right. November 10th is an important anniversary for Sandaime J soul brothers: Debut anniversary and Naoki’s birthday! On that day-

Footage-Naoki: Naoto invited me to go eat very casually, when we got there and I opened the door______

Background voice: To give Naoki a suprise, Naoto prepared a surprise. What kind of surprise did he prepare? Everyone remembers, right?

Tosaka: Eh? What was it? I don’t know.

Iwata: What was it?

Masu: Naoki you yourself remember don’t you?

Naoki: No, I forgot.

Naoto: OI! You cold hearted man!

Background voice: And we start off unexpectedly with Naoki himself not remembering what happened, but what of the other members? We asked, just in case.

Elly: Something like Naoto dressed up as a girl waiting for him?

Naoto: My image in Elly’s mind is that?!

Ryuji: Other members were also present?

Kenjiro: Isn’t that it? That’s it right? November 10th to me is a special day. Since it was a birthday, the surprise was all members gathering together right?

Masu: So if Naoki asked you all to gather together for a surprise you will all gather together?

Kenjiro: If we can gather around on that day we will.

Masu: Ah then let’s go to the video showing the correct answer

Masu: Kenjiro-san, what were you doing on that day?

Masu: Naoki how do you feel?

Naoki: It’s really lonely. I was thinking that I should always maintain a good relationship with Gun-chan.

Iwata: That’s good. That’s good.

Background voice: A fray in a 10 year bond? and then we go to another interview, this is right before their debut, about the pose that Iwata showed the fans.

Footage-Iwata: At the time I was still an amateur who couldn’t tell left from right, and I was standing on the stage without any clue as to what posing meant. and I ended up doing _____ weird pose. (footage-naoto agreed) They’re still laughing about it today.

Background voice: The weird pose that Iwata did when he was still a newbie, does anyone remember?

Kenjiro: This one, yeah

Ryuji: This I know.

Masu: Does everyone remember?

Tosaka: If you cue us, we can all do it at the same time.

Iwata: 10 years later today it’s still a joke that can be thrown around, that’s conversely quite alright. At the time I couldn’t quite make my hands calm down, and while thinking that I had to do something, I ended up with this pose where I looked like I was holding an injured wrist.

Background voice: We have the actual footage here. among all the members who had cool poses, there was Iwata: holding his right wrist tightly with his left hand.

Masu: Iwata-san, would you mind showing us that pose a second time?

Iwata: Ah it’s our 10th anniversary so I would like to promote this

Naoto: Promote?

Tosaka: I’d like to see that!

Background voice: This strong bond that Sandaime J soul brothers have built up over a 10 year period, another strong bond that goes without saying is their bond with the fans. Although they were supposed to celebrate this important year together with the fans, they faced extraordinary circumstances. However, the members are already prepared for this

Tosaka: The time when we can’t meetup, whether it’s the fans or the members, the frustration that builds up from wanting to “have fun at a live performance”, that’s a good kind frustration. Of course we all hold these feelings of wanting have a live performance, the build up of these feelings clash and lead to the birth of a tremendous amount of anticipation for both us and the fans.

Naoto: After the lifting of this emergency state and we overcome all this with everyone, we hope to be able to bring you all a lot of fun with the power we have accumulated, the ideas that we have thought up in this period. We are doing all these preparations. So let’s look forward to the day when we meet up in a live performance. We hope to continue to have your support.

Lady in the studio: You could really feel their bond in the interview

Masu: I’m sure the viewers at home also have this feeling, when you’re doing meetings remotely there’s usually a clash where everyone tries to speak, but the sandaime members didn’t face this situation and everything was smooth so I felt this was the result of a 10 year bond.

Kenjiro (laughs): Really? I think you’re praising us a little too much. (Masu: no really!) Looking at the footage from when we debuted, you can only feel a sense of wonder realising that that artist has successfully stood on the stage of a dome tour. The 10th year anniversary is a really special year to the sandaime J soul brothers, although it’s shame that we can’t do any live performances, we will fully utilise this time, arrange meetings. so that when this emergency state is lifted, we can deliver unbelievably fun live performances and entertainment. I have the confidence that we will be able to deliver, so please look forward to that.

Masu: Please work hard on that. ZIP! is also in its 10th year so I hope to continue to have your support.

It’s very strange actually, because I’m seeing lately comments that are (paraphrasing) something like “those old men books are boring I only read fanfic” and I thought they were only jokes but apparently it’s a serious opinion some people have? The classics are classics for a reason, they have changed our way to approach literature and the world and it’s from them were most of the themes, tropes, characters, settings and expressions we see in media, culture and daily life, come from. And also, they aren’t all from old white men; we have the internet now, it’s easy to search for and access the literary works of women, people of color, and every nation, time period, genre and backgroud.

If you want to write anything, no matter if it’s a new novel, a scientific paper, an essay, or just a fanfic, you have to read and read and read, about everything and from everyone. To create new things you have to know what came previously and enrich yourself. Writing after only having read YA novels and fanfic is like cooking with only noodles and salt; you need more ingredients (more reading) to imagine how to write and make things great. I’m not saying you have to sit through Don Quixote, but at least familiarize yourself with it. Understand why it changed so many things. Don’t say it’s just “fanfic”.

And yes, talking to US people in other forums, they’ve told me that anti-intellectualism is something very common in politics there, in the sense of “the Common Man knows more than those fancy experts” so I wouldn’t be surprised if it had something to do with it. There were some articles about it.

remeber when you talked about tomuras design on his hands what do you think the hands on him symbolize now since we got insight on the new chapter? what do you think of the hands on his design what would they represent?

The hands on Shigaraki’s design are central to his character because they represent both things human hands are capable of, connection, and destruction. Hands can reach out and soothe someone, they can also strike them and harm them. Shigaraki is a character who embodies the extremes of both meanings at the same time. He is written with this hand motife in mind. 

A series which used a similiar hand motif is none other than Evangelion. This scene in particular is about the duality of what hands are capable of. They can destroy, the can connect. 

Shinji Ikari who is not onnected to anybody and only sees other people as pain, rejects everyone around him. However, Rei softly reminds him that’s not what his hands are for. 

That hands are not just for causing pain for others. They can also be the cause of healing. However Shinji only seeing one meaning and not both causes him to be short sighted in his understanding. He only sees pain. He only sees destruction. His isolation makes him wish the same on everybody else. It’s these exact circumstances that create Shigaraki Tomura, and make him believe his hands only exist to destroy. 

We’re presented the same contradiction in My Hero Academia. Hands are what reach out to save people. In the same chapter, Bakugo is saved by the one person who can offer his hand as an equal Kirishima. 

However, for Shigaraki who never got saved. Who was never comforted by hands. The meaning becomes entirely different. For Shigaraki hands are not what save him, they are not liberation, they are a restriction, he is shown to be again and again bound by the hands of other people. They are what caused him harm. 

When Shigaraki is pictured being surrounded by hands, he is either destroying with them, or being destroyed by them. For him only these two options exist because for the longest time hands have only meant harm for him. Shigaraki is either surrounded by the dead hands of his family, holding him accountable for killing them, or the living dead hands of the Nomu which reach out and destroy mindlessly for his sake. Either way there is no free will, there is restriction, binding, his hands do not save him. 

This is delbierate on Shigaraki’s part. All for One has told him to wear those hands, so the feelings of guilt for what he did to his family will never leave him. Those hands are to make sure he never heals. 

Those hands aren’t meant to comfort him in any way. They’re supposed to trigger his trauma and intentionally make him feel nauseous and guilty with himself. They’re to make him in pain at all times. 

Shigaraki is traumatized because quite literally it was his desire to connect, to seek people out and reach out for help that caused him to disintegrate his own family. 

Rikiya points this out. It’s there in his quirk. How can Shigaraki be a person meant to get along with others if he was born with a quirk that disintegrates everybody he touches. Shigaraki’s quirk is also a metaphor for his complete inability to form connections with others without lashing out due to his own trauma. That his hands will reach out and harm others because that’s literally all he knows. 

And this appears again and again in his relationship with All for One. The hand that he was longing to save him to comfort him, was actually the hand that reached out to control him in the end. 

His last memories of his father involve him beating him directly to his face with his hand, and then during the accident reaching out to destroy his face. Shigaraki keeps that hand on his face so he’ll continually get punished for what he did, and even apologizes to his father when that hand is harmed. 

What Shigaraki wanted deep down was a hand to reach out for him. His clearest memory before he recovers his own childhood memories is master’s hand appearing out of nowhere. However, that hand too came into his life only to control and use him. Which is why we are constantly shown this dichotomy, of All for One’s hand reaching out for him in a comforting way, only for it to be framed as creepy and possessive by the scene around him. 

All For One saying that everything is for Shigaraki’s sake, is drawn with static in the backgroud in the most imposing way possible. The moment is supposed to look horrifying to us, not omforting. When Shigaraki falls away from All for One he reaches out for his hand unconsciously, and remembers the not his face, but rather the hands that were offered to him one day. 

For Shigaraki Tomura this conflict will always be present in his character, between the hand he longed to see, the hand that would save him, and the hand that he got. The cold hand that came only in his life to use him. Hands are not something that liberate him, they possess and control him. 

When All for One gives Shigaraki his own last name, we’re shown Shigaraki’s face covered up by a hand, and all for One’s hand around his neck. Strangulation, choking, these are all things which limit freedom, which control the person underneath them. 

For Shigaraki liberation relies on the destruction of hands. However, his family is not enough, he also has to find the last hand in his life that is still controlling him, even though in his mind it’s still the hand that saves him. 

Shigaraki’s relationship with hands also shows how he thinks about his own hands. He is often surrounded by the nomus, disposable pawns for destruction but it’s important to remember that Shigaraki submitted himself under the same knife as well. 

Shigaraki considers himself no better than The Nomu. He is someone meant to be a tool used for destruction and disposed of, and as he considers that he stares at the own image of his crumbling hand. 

Without connection Shigaraki cannot realize himself or his own importance either. He will continue believing his hands exist only to destroy, but that’s a path that leads down his inevitable self desutrction as he’s the last thing on his list he’s going to destroy.

During their arrival, these are the looks Dænerys and co. got

Jon: I warned you, northerners don’t trust outsiders.

She’s disappointed. She thought the North would welcome her with open arms, even though Jon told her when they were in Dragonstone that they were wary of Southerners, even though the terrible history between Starks and Targaryens. She believed that people will cheer for her for coming to save them when in fact it is her duty as Queen. She’s protector of the Realm. That’s her job, to protect her kingdom.

A side note: let’s not forget, that it’s the smallfolk that suffer the most in the Game of Thrones. Ever since the execution of Ned Stark, the North has not known any peace. They declared themselves independent from the Iron Throne, which caused them to go to war with the Lannisters. Then, Theon betrayed Robb and took and destroyed Winterfell. Then, after the events of the Red Wedding, Winterfell was awarded to the Boltons, a House that betrayed their liege and King in favor of the Lannisters. It wasn’t until the return of Sansa, and then Jon, that the North started to fight back, to fight back for the Starks, the rightful lords of Winterfell. It hasn’t been so long since Sansa and Jon took their home back and brought some stability to the North. Dænerys is a threat to that new-found stability, because she’s a conqueror trying to reclaim her father’s throne. The North wants to be independent. They don’t want a southern ruler, they want a Stark.

Then, you can hear the dragons. This is Dænerys’ reaction to them:

She’s smiling at them. She’s happy to see them. That’s good. We know she has a strong bond with them.

But these are the reactions of the smallfolk:

You can hear them scream, you can see them cower in the backgroud, you can see them run away in fear. They’re terrified.

And this, this is Dænerys’ reaction to the reation of the smallfolk’s terror:

She’s smirking. She likes the effect her and her dragons have on these people that clearly don’t like her. And to get technical a little bit, the camera stays on her for five seconds, so we get a clear reaction of her. Maybe @bitchcakegreen can elaborate a bit on that, since cinematopraphy is not my forte.

It ties into the idea of T/argaryen exceptionalism she has:

This place was the beginning of the end for my family. (Speaks Valerian.) A dragon is not a slave. They were terrifying. Extraordinary. They filled people with wonder and awe, and we locked them in here. They wasted away. They grew small. And we grew small as well. We weren’t extraordinary without them. We were just like everyone else.

It’s like if she cannot have their love and awe, she will settle for their fear, because as she said in s7e6: “Aegon Targaryen got quite a long way on fear”

So, yeah, she might’ve smiled at her dragons. But she also smirked at the terrified reaction her dragons caused to those people.
