Today, I am grateful to my family for bringing me to this earth and for raising me with love. I'm grateful for the land I was raised on: Mohegan. I'm grateful for the land I now live and farm on: Lenape. I'm grateful for the resilience and power of humans and plants to survive and thrive. To make a way out of no way. To hold onto seeds, story, and land. I'm grateful to William Woys Weaver and his Roughwood Seed Collection for changing my life and putting me on the path of seed keeping, and for sharing with me these Lenape varieties posted here: Purple Kingsessing Bean, Indian Hannah Bean, Sehsapsing Corn. I'm grateful to indigenous seed keepers all over the world for their work to preserve culture, language, and tradition. Some of my ancestors were seed keepers. Some of my ancestors were colonizers. Step 1: Take RICA (Reading Instruction Competence Assessment)... you have 240 minutes to complete 70 multiple choice questions (designed by Pearson to trip you up just enough the first time and then collect another odd $170 from you for the second go), four shorter written analyses assessing and proposing strategies for a student’s needs you identify, and one longer case study of a specific student (I’ll remember you always Cassie!) that goes into more detail. . Step 2: Finish with 13 seconds to spare. Last time I think it was 7 seconds... big improvement! . Step 3: Head immediately to climbing gym... naturally! . Step 4: Go home and catch up on the three classes I am currently taking, plus the two incomplete ones from last term. . Step 3b or maybe 4a: Enjoy an adult beverage with one of my cats. Not sure if cats are drinking tonight. . Life can be challenging and arduous, but that’s what makes it worthwhile and interesting. And there is always the mind-blowing beauty present at all times, right here, right now. "You are not weak. I supply your strength, and I have INFINITE strength." - 8 months ago, I fell to my face off of desperation. For the longest I was living in a state of rage. I wanted to let go, accept, forgive, heal, improve my mental state and the quality of my thoughts, know when to hold my tongue and when to speak (and speak with the right tone that portrays my intention- which is quite frankly, one of my downfalls...i can be TOO bold sometimes) in addition, I wanted to stay active in my physical and social life, pay bills on time, and still have money for myself, and have a thriving marriage. - I was juggling all of this in my own strength (deliberately decided I was relying on ME ALONE) and find myself running short. I'd have breakdowns and "let go" and "surrender" to all the rage inside me. I knew it wasn't the way to get where I wanted, but I felt weak and kept giving in. - It's a tiresome way to live. Not just for me but those who are directly affected by me (my husband mostly but also family and friends who'd worry) - Why am I talking about this? 8 months ago, when I fell to my face, I was weeping calling myself weak (yes this is a true "episide" in my life lol) over and over... Weak weak weak... Then suddenly I hear this still small voice... "You're not weak. I supply your strength, and I have INFINITE strength." - That whole event brought confirmation that though I cannot do it on my own, I CAN do anything with The Source of my strength. I started meditating that day. And everyday since then. - All of that turmoil, that rage...
