PICK A CARD⭒ how will your future child make you proud?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
reminder that this is a general reading and messages found here may not apply to everyone. take what resonates, leave what doesn't, and don't force anything if it does not fit.
BOOK A READING WITH ME · LINKTREE · 18+ PATREON · TIPS ♡ tips, bookings, and feedback are highly appreciated!
GROUP ONE
cards · queen of swords, ace of cups, knight of cups, page of swords (reversed), the moon.
channelled songs · hello stranger by kai. welcome to the machine by pink floyd. brenda’s got a baby by 2pac.
my dear group one ♡ your future child will make you proud by going against everything placed against them --every expectation and naysay -- in order to go after their dreams and do what they love.
your child may be born with disabilities or may become disabled with time. they may just be disadvantaged, as in having less money and opportunities in comparison to their peers. they may also fall pregnant and become a parent at a young age.
despite this, they will never lose sight of what they want from life and will go after it guns blazing and head held high.
though, for some time, they may wallow and feel hopeless because of the barriers that exist between them and achieving what they want to achieve, they will still come out on the other side surer than ever that nothing is going to stop them. that they will be successful by any means necessary. that they will achieve what they want to achieve, even if all odds are stacked against them.
Tumblr media
GROUP TWO
cards · nine of cups, queen of cups, eight of cups, six of wands, the magician.
channelled songs · love at first sight by the front bottoms. born hater by epik high. pricey by nct 127.
my dear group two ♡ even as a child, your future child will be the kind of person who knows what they are worth and never accepts less than that.
this is something that may have taken you a long time to learn -- to speak up for yourself, to not let people walk all over you or disrespect you, to enter rooms as if you belong there and not let anyone tell you otherwise. but, for your child, this will all come naturally.
some people may call your future child a “diva” or say that they think too highly of themselves, but every time they say that you will just roll your eyes because that is exactly how you want your child to be.
your child will respect themselves so much and have such high standards that they will not tolerate even the slightest disrespect. even as a little kid. picture this, your child is having a playdate with the neighbour’s child; your child will split the toys equally between the two of them, then the neighbour’s child will start taking from your child’s pile. instead of just letting that happen, your child will say, “these are mine and these are yours, if you want to share, you have to ask, don’t just take.”
they will be so good at setting their boundaries, which is largely thanks to you and how you raised them.
Tumblr media
GROUP THREE
cards · ten of swords, seven of swords (reversed), three of wands, nine of swords, the hierophant.
channelled songs · el baile del perrito by wilfrido vargas. every little thing i do by soul for real. the hard way by the front bottoms.
my dear group three ♡ your future child will make you proud in that they will never take no for an answer. your child will be fearless, and will fearlessly defend themselves, even when everyone else shoots them done and calls them delusional -- or even insane.
they will be persistent, stubborn, and headstrong -- in the best way possible. in the way that will make them a good entrepreneur and successful business owner. in the way that will ensure that doors always open for them -- because, in many ways, they force these doors to open for them.
they will be someone who has a certain expectation for their life and will not accept anything less than that. if they want to be a doctor, and they keep getting rejected, they will keep working towards it and applying until they get accepted. if they want to be an attorney, and they fail the bar exam, they will do it again and again and again until they pass. if they want to be a business owner and their first business fails, that’s fine, they’ll take what they learnt and start another one.
they will never give up. not on anything, least of all not on themselves.

Kidnapping of a Wife~
Tumblr media
's just basically just a drabble to get out of rusty era~
Tumblr media
It’s got to be those hips… those hips that filled up after three pregnancies, round and full against his palms every time he comes behind you and runs his hands to trace your enticing curves feeling your skin shiver against his callous hands and bite your lower lip with hazy eyes or maybe when he spanks your glorious bum cheeks and you gasp in surprise while he snickers and holds you against his body and your foreheads pressed against each other with that shit-eating grin he has that he knows never fails to get a rise out of you.
Satoru cleared his throat as he gazed at you playing with Saika on the couch, some kind of game about cats making soup or something.
Or maybe... it must be those heavy globes of yours that only grew more precious and milkier in his eyes, and let's not forget that tummy, good heavens, he's never found anything more fluffy and adorable to clutch and massage whenever his hands find your tummy… Motherhood only made you glow in his eyes.
“I win,” Kouki announces breaking the pattern of Satoru’s thoughts. His son’s white go stones capture his territory with no possible leeway to turn around.
“Lemme seeeee~” Satoru hums, as if trying to be seriously taking into account the game when for all the matter he knows he lost because he was too busy ogling at you than picking the right corner to place his go stones against his son.
“Mama, I won!” Kouki left him sitting on the mat and ran to you asking for the prize. A kiss!
Satoru pouted as you peppered his son’s face with kisses. He sighs. It’s no use arguing with his kids about wanting some lovin’ time with you. After they are his spawns, they’re bound to be glued to you just like he wants to stick around you too like a leech.
“What’s my consolation prize?” Satoru plops beside you and hugs you by the side, pouting with his chin on your shoulder.
“There’s a consolation prize?” You feigned innocence and asked your kids mooching you off with kisses and tickles.
“Nope.” Kouki shrugs.
“There’s none,” Saika added.
“Mama’s ours.” Kouki nodded and kissed your cheeks while Saika giggled and buried her face in your chest.
Satoru looked at you with a flat expression before sweeping you off your feet, hoisting you in his arms leaving the kids gaping on the floor, everything was too fast they couldn’t even hold on to your dress. His spawns are betraying him, bullying him.
“No husband has been jailed for kidnapping a wife from her clingy kids, yet.” Satoru stuck his tongue at his kids before running away with you in his arms and his two kids hot on his trails.
“Papa is a mommy kidnapper!

Clown Talk
Yandere Crime Harem + G.N Clown TV-Showhost Reader
-
Extortion. Aggravated Assault. Murder.
The list went on for the royal who had it all, and lost almost everything in one night.
A well respected and charitable figure in their community, it was a shock to the masses to see local casino owner, and frequent donor to hospitals framed on the five o'clock news for misconduct. Anyone with a good head on their shoulders and a realistic outlook on the world could see straight through the facade. Beneath that mask was a monster - every good deal that person ever committed a cover for their true goals.
Those they had helped plead their innocence. Those they had wronged tied their noose. The documents leaked to the public would tell which party was correct, wiped clean from history before the victor could be declared. Read aloud in court, each word marked a new trial at play. The execution of the rat bastard who got them into this whole ordeal in the first place.
The criminal know exactly who it was. Caught his hand in the cookie jar resembling their safe weeks ago, but they had enough of a heart to let him go for being the one person his little girl had. Not again. Day in and day out they dreamt of how they'd carry out their revenge. Splattering his brains all over the wall. Slicing him into cutlets and having a nice cookout for everyone involved. It was a beautiful dream. The one thing preventing the compete lost of their sanity. Shouldn't be too long now until their people manage to get them out and their hands around that bastard's neck. Only a matter of time-
"Quit mumbling to yourself- I can't hear the TV."
As if this hell couldn't get any worse. A desaturated rainbow flies across the television screen, showering an empty field with stars and hearts that sprout colorful flowers from the earth. The theme song for the show plays in the background; the strums of each guitar string and the voice humming along to the beat drilled into the criminal's head like psychological warfare. While the voice wasn't totally abysmal it still belonged to their greatest enemy. That fucking clown.
"Good Day, everyone! I've missed you all so much, and am so excited to meet all the new faces. Are you ready all for an exciting day of fun and new adventures?"
The few shouts of agreement make their ears bleed more. Needless to say the prison they had been thrown in was a shit hole. Terrible food, hard beds, and televisions that only played one station without interference. That neon haired, colorblock mess of an entertainer had haunted them from day one of their stay; the sounds chasing them whenever they fled to the sanctuary of their cell. Pathetically, while there were a couple naysayers, majority of the prison population had begun to actually like the show. A body hurls into the seat next to them.
"Thank fuck I didn't miss it. You staying this time, Zero?"
Zero's face wrinkles from the frown lines. 4D was a fellow intimate and the biggest fan of the show. A crook booked for various robberies who just like Zero was ratted on by an acquaintance. The nickname came from their tag including the number fourty and they thought it would be cool in unison with the one they forced onto Zero.
"I told you not to call me that."
"I get that you're some big hot-shot and "adults shouldn't be watching shows for kids.", but it's really good when you sit down and watch it. That clown ain't too bad on the eyes either."
Zero resists the urge to snap their fingers as they air quote. "I'd rather flush my head down a toilet."
"Come on! If ya watch it, I'll leave ya alone for the rest of your sentence."
That catches their attention. Armz crossed, Zero looks at the television. The set had switched to that of a kitchen as the clown speaks
"Juno has been feeling better down today, let's cheer him up with his favorite snack! Before we begin, make sure you always ask for an adults help when handing sharp objects or using the stove. Unless you are one yourself. "
With a wink, they throw an apron and go through the steps of making homemade rice treats with the audience. After putting the tray in the oven, they discreetly pull out another one with a full sheet of the treats already made. Marshmallow fluff and melted chocolate chips ooze from their sides as the clown cuts out a heart shaped piece with a cookie cutter.
"And there you go! A simple, fun activity you can do with family and friends, and even get something taste out of it. Juno prefers chocolate, but you can add a number of things to your own and let your imagination run wild."
Great. Now they were annoyed and hungry. They couldn't stand another segment.
"I'm leaving."
4D whines. "Whaaat? That was barely anything. Hey, don't go-"
They grab Zero's sleeve, but are powerless to stop them as they leave the common area and venture up to their room. Over the guard rail of the second floor, they watch the other inmates mindlessly crowded around the television screen and unironically enjoying it. They would've spat at them had it not been for the guard by their cell. Inside the room, their roommate had left the tv on and that same damned show was playing. They go to turn it off only to be cut off by a fake cry of pain.
"Ouch!"
The clown tumbles to the ground, figure looming over them off screen. They come into frame as they grip the clown's arm and helps them to their feet.
"I'm so sorry, Y/n. I didn't mean to hurt you."
"It's okay, Juno. I know it wasn't on purpose."
The two face the screen as the clown speaks.
"Sometimes our friends do or say things that hurt our feelings. Take a breath, hear them out, but there's one important rule. Remember - forgiveness and friendship aren't always mutual. Sometimes people we may think are our friends go too far, and they believe an apology will make everything okay, but that's not always the case. The best thing you can do is forgive - and let go."
The background music is soft. The clown's smile is sincere, but an offshoot of that silly expression they had moments ago. Forgive. That weasel? There's no way in hell they could. He ruined them. Damaged their imagine. The bitterness Zero held was the only thing that pulled them forward. But what would come after they got their revenge?
"That's all for day, folks! And don't forget- you all may be my helpers, but I am here to help you the most!"
The intimate ends up watching the show until lights out. Each episode holds a new life lesson, cushioned by the silly activites prior to them and the songs the clown and their friends sings at the end. Regrettably, Zero finds their lips twitching upwards and a hushed laugh in their chest at some of the clown's jokes. When the clown visits them in their sleep, the dreams didn't seem as bad as before.
The next day Zero finds 4D in the yard. They're hesitant to speak.
"So... Why exactly do you like that clown?"
4D drops the equipment in their hand, looking flustered. "Wow, uh, why do you ask?"
"Just curious. If it's so embarrassing, I can make it worth while."
4D refuses the cigeratte they offer. "I quit. It ain't nothing serious like that, we just... talked."
Zero raises a brow. "Talked? You some kind of nutcase or something?"
"Maybe, but what I mean is I sent them a letter. After all the rush and freedom of the things I did, I was going mad in here. I got no friends, no family. At the end of every episode there's an address so I thought I'd try and send them a letter. I never expected them to respond. Hell, I thought the guards would tear it up and laugh, but neither of those predictions were true. They... helped me. More than anyone ever had in my life. Even sent me a couple things when I hadn't asked. They're all I have."
4D wipes their face with their sleeve. Zero, unsure, raises their hand to their shoulder, but falls short of a comforting touch.
"..Thanks... Take care."
Zero sits in their cell when the next show comes end. They pen down the address on the screen, wondering if they were really going to go through with this. They write out their letter and hand it off to the only guard they trust.
"What do you do, when you've lost everything."
A response comes in a week's time.
"Hey, there!
First off, I want to say thank you for sending your letter in. From the address and the others I've spoken too, I know that you're going through a really tough time. It's understandable to believe you've lost everything, but there will always be a new ladder to climb to the top so long as you try your hardest. You may be in the dark for now, but the sun will shine again for you some day."
Zero loses track of how many times they read the letter. They can see eraser marks from when the writer rewrote their lines. It was the exact same penmanship as when the clown wrote their name on a drawing they had just finished, clearing out the possibility of it being an assistant on the show. Zero crumples the envelope and throws it in the trash, but tucks the letter under their pillow.
When they are released the following month, they're found sitting in front of the community television.
-
"Sunshine's beautiful this time of day, isn't it?"
"B...oss, I'm sorry, please."
Zero takes another drag of their cigar as his head is dunked into the freezing waters. The silence makes the scenario one for the books, but for some reason the sun just isn't as bright as it was on those dirty screens. They exhale as the bruised male is brought out of the sea once more.
"I forgive you, and now I'm letting go." They wave to the others on the boat. "Drop him. I don't want to be late for the show."
-
Arriving at the studio, a whiny voice drills from behind them.
"Aw, man- you got front row seats? Switch with your ol pal. Its the least you can do since I introduced you to them."

When your employer loses a bet to Jabba the Hutt's favorite contract killer, Boba Fett, you are suddenly placed in his control. But you and Boba are not enemies. The two of you have known each other for a while now, and this only pushes the two of you closer together.
ao3 // taglist // main masterlist // spring 2024 masterlist
Tumblr media
Mando’a Translations: cyar’ika – darling / sweetheart mesh’ika – little beauty mesh’la – beautiful
The artificial air kicks in and its refreshing coldness brushes against your neck. You sigh heavily, appreciating the luxury that few establishments have in Mos Espa. Not even Jabba’s Palace can boast to having such a feature.
Glancing over your shoulder, the rest of the room begins to melt into smoky shadow. The large shutters over the windows start to shift downward to ward off the light and heat from Tatooine’s twin suns. They stop two-thirds of the way, allowing for natural light but shrouding Tranquil Sands in shadow. The small lamps at each of the tables turn on, giving the place an intimate glow. In the far corner, the band changes up their song, and spice smoke from hookah pipes fills the air.
It might be the middle of the day, but Tranquil Sands is full. It always is.
Need a drink? Tranquil Sands has a full-service bar.
Want to spend all your money gambling? Tranquil Sands has all the best tables.
Do you desire more carnal pleasures? Tranquil Sands can provide.
Or are you simply wanting a place to rest your head? At Tranquil Sands, there are plenty of beds.
Tranquil Sands has it all.
And you are its bookkeeper.
Lady Sheku, a beautiful Twi’lek female with peachy skin, is the owner of Tranquil Sands. You’ve been keeping her books for several years. The two of you have grown close over time, forming a subtle friendship built on mutual respect.
Trust is important for something like this. You work closely tracking every credit and form of currency that enters or exits this establishment. It’s not just to ensure that proper dues are paid out to Jabba, but to be as transparent as possible for when—not if—the Empire comes knocking.
“Is everything in order?” asks a sultry voice.
You spin around just as Lady Sheku approaches. The Twi’lek is gorgeous, and she doesn’t even try. Many with money on Tatooine show it off, but Lady Sheku is all gentle elegance.
“As it always is,” you reply, knowing exactly what she’s referring to.
Today is payment day. Today is the day that Jabba the Hutt receives the protection dues from Tranquil Sands. But it isn’t Jabba who fetches it, nor is it his loathsome second Bib Fortuna. It’s Jabba the Hutt’s favorite bounty hunter, Boba Fett, that comes calling.
He is always on time. Never misses a single payment.
“You look lovely today,” murmurs Lady Sheku, her brow rising slightly as she admires your outfit.
When out on the floor, you have to look like you belong, not like you sit in a backroom all day hunched over ledgers. Yet you also cannot look like any of the workers. That might give some guests the wrong impression, and the last thing you need is a misunderstanding out in the open. You’ve opted for black, a color none of the workers wear. They prefer brighter colors, and the ones for pleasure purchases are even brighter with golden bangles and necklaces. You’ve gone completely bare other than the thin black fabric that hangs on your body.
“Thank you,” you reply.
Lady Sheku leans in, her voice dropping even lower. “It can’t be because a certain bounty hunter is coming today?”
“No,” you answer automatically, but it’s not entirely a lie.
Boba Fett is sweet on you, and everyone knows it. You are the one who interacts with him, who hands over the credits, who makes sure Jabba is paid and satisfied. Boba Fett is the man between, and yet he is enticing. A flavor of spice you cannot seem to shake.
But no matter how much attention he gives you; it simply isn’t possible. The two of you cannot be together. Boba Fett is a bounty hunter. He wears Mandalorian armor. He works for Jabba the Hutt. Everyone knows how deadly Boba is, that he’d rather vaporize his bounties than bring them in alive. A man like that makes enemies, and you’d be first on the list if they plan on targeting him.
“Liar,” teases Lady Sheku, waving her hand dismissively.
As if speaking his name summons him, Boba Fett enters through the front doors. For a moment, all conversation ceases, even the music seems distant. His helmeted head swivels, scanning the room. When it lands on you, everything stutters before hurtling forward. He takes one step, then another, and then he’s moving toward you with purpose embedded into every slap of his boots against the marble.
“Boba Fett,” greets Lady Sheku, her head dipping slightly with acknowledgement. You do the same, knowing it’s better to show respect to one of Jabba’s favorite contract killers.
When your gaze returns to him, the T-shaped visor is aimed at you. Though you cannot see his eyes, you feel his stare. It brands your skin, peeling back the flesh to reveal your deepest secrets.
“Everything is in order,” you say, keeping your tone neutral. “The credits are in the back if you’ll follow me.” You shift and raise an arm, indicating the backroom you and Boba always meet in to make the exchange.
Boba shifts in your direction but Lady Sheku raises a hand. “A moment. Please.”
He pauses, and you drop your hand back to your side slowly, unsure of why Lady Sheku is delaying the proceedings.
“I have a proposal for you. An offer, if you will.” Lady Sheku’s shoulders shake a bit as she straightens her spine. Boba says nothing but inclines his head. “You never partake in anything we offer here at Tranquil Sands. As the proprietor of this fine establishment, I’d like to know what I can do to make you a loyal customer.”
You keep your face completely blank even as your mind races. Why is Lady Sheku asking this now? There isn’t any reason to delay. All the credits are there. In fact, there is plenty, so why make him wait? Why make you wait?
Boba Fett considers Lady Sheku’s question for a moment before he answers. “What I want isn’t on the menu.”
What I want isn’t on the menu.
When Boba says this, his helmet is turned in your direction, the T-shaped visor pinning you to the spot. Lady Sheku grins, her gaze subtly shifting between you and Boba.
“I’m sure that can be arranged,” shrugs Lady Sheku. “For a price.”
Is she really selling you to him? You’re not a slave. You’re an employee.
You’re about to protest, the words forming on the tip of your tongue, but Lady Sheku gives you a look that silences you completely.
Trust me, it says.
Boba inclines his head. “I’m listening.”
“Wonderful!” Lady Sheku claps her hands together. “Let’s make a game of it. Shall we?” Placing one hand on Boba Fett’s upper arm, she guides him over to the gambling corner. Boba allows himself to be led and you follow right behind him, tension tight in your stomach.
“A wager,” says Lady Sheku. “If I win, you pay a portion of the protection money. If you win, you can have the woman you want for the evening. She will be…yours. Completely.”
“Lady—” you begin but Boba cuts in.
“What game?” he asks.
“Cards.” Lady Sheku gestures toward one of the tables.
“Sabacc?”
“Afraid, Boba?” teases Lady Sheku.
“Hardly. Let’s play.”
The two of them sit down at the nearest table. You stand there in shock, your feet unable to move. A droid dealer approaches, shuffling the cards, and still, you do not move. Others begin to press in, watching on as cards are dealt.
You want to rage, to curse everyone and everything, and yet, at your core, you’re not entirely angry. Lady Sheku has stepped over the line, crossed into territory that is blurry and wrong, but she’s not doing it for her own gain.
Everyone knows how sweet Boba is on you, how he always stands close whenever he’s near you, or how he compliments you at every visit. Even when he goes to the backroom with you, Boba is a complete gentleman. He doesn’t push. He doesn’t disrespect your boundaries. None of that accounts for all the gifts that arrive at Tranquil Sands’ doors. The ones for you never have a name on them, but it’s easy to guess who they’re from.
Something solidifies in your soul, and you take a step forward. A crowd has gathered, eager eyes watching on as the owner of Tranquil Sands and Jabba’s favorite bounty hunter face off over a few rounds of Sabacc.
The air is stagnant, and your gaze is glued to the floor.
Should you look? Should you watch on? Or should you let it be?
Even if Boba wins, you know he’d never hurt you. He has it in him to be cruel and sadistic, but he’s never raised a hand to you. He’s never taken what you haven’t freely offered. In this, if he wins, will Boba remain the same? Do you even want to know?
Kriff it, you think, shoving through the crowd, coming up behind Boba. Just as you squeeze between a Zabrak and Weequay, the crowd gasps. Boba leans back in his seat, arms crossed over his chest, legs spread wide. Lady Sheku appears disappointed but you know her tells.
She glances up, winks, and then stands, sighing loudly. Your gaze falls to the table. Boba’s winning hand stares back at you tauntingly.
“You’ve won, Boba.” Lady Sheku inclines her head, hands spreading wide before her. The crowd around the table begins to disperse, their interest disappearing quickly. “My assistant will make sure you receive Jabba’s payment and then she’s all yours.”
Boba starts to stand and you shoot Lady Sheku a look. The Twi’lek shrugs casually. You’re welcome, she silently mouths before greeting a new wave of customers.
With Boba Fett looming over you, it’s hard not to notice his height and broad shoulders. The Mandalorian armor he wears is worn and dented, the paint chipped and peeling in some places. Yet it only adds to his aura, his sense of strength and power. His helmeted head dips as if he can kiss you through it. For a moment, your face rises as if to meet him, but you back out at the last second.
“This way,” you choke out, taking a step back, gesturing toward the other end of the room.
Boba leans away but he doesn’t create any distance other than that. It isn’t until you start walking that Boba moves, keeping pace with you. At the doors to Lady Sheku’s office, you scan your card and enter with Boba following behind.
“I’d offer you something to drink but this will only take a minute,” you say over your shoulder.
At the massive safe, you enter the code, retrieving the credits in their locked box. Turning around, you set the box down on the table, opening the lid to reveal the credits inside.
“Everything appear satisfactory?” you ask.
Boba doesn’t say anything. It’s infuriating because you don’t know if he’s looking at you or the credits behind that bucket.
“It’s all there. You can count if you—”
“You’re mine,” says Boba, like it’s an indisputable fact.
You take a deep breath, hands balling into fists at your sides. “For the evening,” you amend.
Boba glances down at the credits. He shuts the lid, reengaging the lock. His head tilts and his hand ascends, one finger pressing to the side of his helmet.
“I’ll need a pick up,” he says to someone that clearly isn’t you.
Boba does not pick up the credit case. Instead, he steps around the desk until he’s standing next to you. Reaching out, the back of his gloved hand brushes over bare skin. You feel the ridge of knuckles through the leather.
“Is this okay?” he asks softly.
You nod because you don’t trust yourself to form proper words. Boba’s touch is like a stun wand. Electric but lethal. You are struck, ripped apart, and pieced together. It hurts, not because he’s touching you but because this will end, and the two of you will return to your lives. He is not meant for you. This cannot be more than just the evening.
Lady Sheku meant well by losing, but this might be too much.
Boba drops his hand and plucks the credit case from the desk. “When we return, you’ll sit with me. In my lap.”
His tone is assertive. Boba isn’t asking, and that stirs something inside you. While you like this, you also want to push back. But you’re not quick enough in your response. Boba points in your direction, chastising before you even get a word out.
The two of you stare each other down before Boba curls his finger in and presents his open palm. It’s an invitation instead of an order. While Lady Sheku needs to mind her business, Boba is the man that haunts your dreams. Every interaction with him is a memory that sticks to you like syrup.
Slowly, you extend your own hand, slipping it into his offered palm.
Boba’s hold is gentle as his fingers encase your hand. You allow yourself to be led from the room, to be escorted to a large booth tucked into a private corner. From here, Boba can see the rest of Tranquil Sands. It’s private yet strategic, a habit of any good bounty hunter.
Placing the container of credits on the table, Boba takes a seat in the booth. The cushions are soft and wide. The table in front of it is low to the ground. Boba never let’s go of your hand. He keeps you close, drawing you into his lap.
You fit perfectly there, and the naturalness is startling.
Boba keeps one arm around your lower back for support, his broad hand planted firmly on the curve where your hip and upper thigh meet. You’re tucked against him, leaning into the crook of his arm, one hand resting on his armored chest. With his other hand, Boba guides your legs over his thighs.
“Are you comfortable?” he asks, that same hand running up your thigh, parting fabric until he’s touching bare skin.
“Yes,” you reply softly, a shiver running through you from the contact.
Boba’s answer is a gentle grunt as his hand on your thigh tightens. It’s a possessive hold, and you don’t entirely mind. Around you, patrons move about. Many don’t even glance your way, entirely preoccupied with their own endeavors.
It isn’t long before two Gamorreans enter Tranquil Sands. Between them is a woman in an all-black body suit with cape and cowl. The only visible part of her are her eyes which glow a subtle shade of purple.
“Boba,” she says on her approach.
Boba Fett only nods toward the container of credits. She is swift, fetching the credits and leaving without another glance at you or Boba.
After a few moments of silence, Boba adjusts, and it only draws you closer to him. “Are you upset with me, cyar’ika?”
The question surprises you. “Why would I be upset?”
“Why would you not be? Didn’t ask what you wanted.”
You snort. “Did you even consider what I wanted?”
The answer comes automatically. “No. I want you. And I saw an opportunity,” he says. “But you know that.”
You do know. You’ve known for over a year now and so does everyone else. Whenever Boba walks in, Lady Sheku and all the workers immediately look at you with amusement on their faces. Boba might not be overt in his attentions, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t gone unnoticed.
“What’s your plan, Boba? To lure me in? To convince me I should be yours?” You’re pushing him, feeling bold, but how could you not be? You’re in his lap, almost straddling him, and Boba’s hands are everywhere even though they’ve hardly moved at all.
Boba inclines his head. “You’re already mine. Always have been.”
“You don’t own me,” you murmur.
Boba’s silence is deafening, and you have no idea what it means. You desperately wish you could see his face, to look into his eyes and glimpse even a semblance of understanding. That silence is all there is because the matter is done the moment the doors of Tranquil Sands open.
Boba is all business after. He shifts you out of his lap, having you sit beside him instead like a pretty thing on display. But Boba keeps one hand on your inner thigh as he conversers, never removing it even when you adjust against the cushions.
Strangely, Boba never removes his helmet. Whenever he comes to retrieve Jabba’s payment, Boba almost always removes his helmet in front of you. But that has always been in a private setting behind closed doors. This is out in the open.
He orders food and drink, offering it to his guests as much as he offers it to you, and yet taking none for himself. You remain quiet, listening attentively but mostly staying out of it. Boba doesn’t ask for your input, and the various individuals seem to understand that you are off limits.
It isn’t until Tatooine’s suns begin to descend that Boba shifts gears.
“We’re going upstairs.”
Upstairs. The only thing upstairs are rooms. Rooms to sleep. To rest. To—
Your heart thunders in your chest. Excitement rushes in along with an underlying nervousness you can’t entirely place. It’s not geared toward Boba. He’d never hurt you, never push himself on you. No. This nervousness is a questioning of whether or not he’ll accept your advances if you give them.
It's a silly thing to question. Boba likes you. He’s smitten, willing to pay an entire month’s worth of protection money just to have the chance to be with you.
Boba stands and presents his hand. You take it, and he helps you to your feet, but he doesn’t drag you to the lift. He stays right there, towering over you, his free hand grasping your waist.
“What is it?” you ask, gaze roaming over the room in one quick sweep before returning to Boba.
“Do you want this?”
You blink, unsure if you heard him correctly. “Boba?”
“Do you want this?” he repeats. “With me?”
When you don’t answer right away, Boba gently squeezes your waist. “Give the word and we’ll go our separate ways.”
“Boba—”
“If you wish to leave, tell me now.”
You swallow. “Does this mean I can’t go if I change my mind?”
Boba’s chest heaves. “No. You can always go. You can always walk away. I won’t stop you.”
Even though Boba played Sabacc with Lady Sheku in order to possess you, he is still giving you a choice. This is up to you. Boba has already made it clear what he wants. All you need to do is accept him, or walk away.
“I don’t want to go,” you breathe, knowing with these words you’ve changed your future forever.
There is no going back. No reversal. You are confirming what you already know and what he’s suspected. You want him.
Boba’s hand slips away from your waist only to travel downward to grasp the back of your thigh. This one touch makes you inhale sharply, and the soft chuckle Boba makes sends heat straight to your core.
“My mesh’ika,” he croons.
Boba keeps using these words you don’t know. You can take a guess as to their meaning. He’s used them before but only in private. Only when you’ve allowed him a passing touch before you depart.
Now, with his hand massaging the back of your thigh, the meaning is clear to you. And this place is far too public for such affection.
“Upstairs,” he murmurs, his voice so soft you’re surprised the voice receiver in the helmet even picks it up.
Boba’s hand disappears from your thigh, leaving an emptiness behind. You long to draw him back to you and indulge in his touch.
The ascent to the room is sluggish, and yet with a blink, you’re at the door. You cling to Boba’s armor-clad arm as the door slides open, and Boba guides you into the dark. The moment the two of you cross the threshold, a lamp near the window clicks on.
This is one of Tranquil Sands’ suites.
You enter into a small sitting area with a lounge sofa and low table. The curtains are closed, keeping out the light of Tatooine’s suns. To the right are sliding double doors. They stand open, revealing a large bed. The door to the bathroom is through there but you cannot see it from where you’re standing.
Boba releases your hand, and you are reluctant to let him go. He presses a few buttons on the control panel near the door. More lights turn on. It is dim—almost intimate—and all you want to do is reach out to him.
This is just for the evening. Only for the night. Then it’ll be over. You will return to your books, and Boba will be the vicious bounty hunter he has always been. He will come for Jabba’s payment, and you will hand it over, never meeting until the time to return rolls around again.
Hesitantly, you stride forward into the middle of the room. With hands clasped in front of you, you turn in Boba’s direction, only to find him within arm’s reach.
The two of you stare at each other, not speaking, hardly breathing.
With an aching slowness, Boba reaches up with both hands, clasping the sides of his helmet. You hear the hiss of the seal releasing, and then it’s gone, revealing his face. This is not a surprise. It’s no gut-punch. Boba’s face is one you’ve seen before, but this is not a business exchange. This is personal.
Boba moves past you and gently sets his helmet down on the table. He is right there, and when he straightens to undo his leather gloves, your hand finds his bicep, resting where there is no armor. His dark eyes swivel towards you, and you have the urge to run your fingers through his hair. It looks so soft and inviting—just long enough to give it a little tug.
He removes one glove and then the other, tossing them onto the table next to his helmet. Your eyes track every movement, the casualness of Boba’s undressing a mesmerizing dance. You cannot look away.
“You’re staring, cyar’ika,” muses Boba, a little smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.
You cough, and discreetly check for drool. “Want me to stop?” you shrug. “I can do that?”
“No.” Boba’s tone startles you, but it is his hand on the back of your neck that truly makes your stomach flip. He drags you against him, and your hands instinctually rise, pressing against his chestplate.
His dark gaze is sharp. Piercing. “Draw me a bath, cyar’ika.” Your lips part and Boba’s gaze drops momentarily before returning to your eyes. His grip on the back of your neck tightens a bit before releasing.
“Go,” he says, voice husky and rough. “Before I get dirt on that pretty dress.”
Heat rushes up your spine and flares hot in your cheeks. Pressing a hand to your burning face, you quickly enter the bathroom. Built into the wall is a massive tub. It’s all smooth, clean lines and easily fits two.
“Kriffing hell,” you murmur at the ceiling. You take a deep breath to calm your racing heart.
Shaking your hands out at your sides to release some of the giddy nervousness, you reach for the small panel in the wall. Hot water begins to emerge from the faucet. Pressing a few more buttons bring forth an aromatic aroma, and the water starts to turn sudsy.
It looks inviting. Entirely heavenly.
Water is a heavily sought-after resource on Tatooine, but Lady Sheku has connections, often transporting water in from off world. It’s expensive but it supplements what can be purchased on Tatooine.
You pause, hearing soft footsteps. Turning, your eyes widen, and the heat that you banished from your cheeks returns. You quickly look away as Boba’s nude body brushes past you and steps over the edge of the tub to slide into the water.
Boba sighs heavily, and the sound goes straight to your sex. It’s contentment and satisfaction, and you want to know if that’s what he sounds like when he’s buried deep.
“I’ll give you some privacy,” you say, keeping your gaze averted. But as you turn to leave, Boba reaches out, his wet hand grasping your wrist.
“You’ll stay,” he commands, releasing your wrist to tap the side of the tub. “Right here. Where I can look at you.”
Slowly, you ease down on the edge of the tub. It’s not entirely uncomfortable. It is wide and flat, large enough for you to sit without sliding onto the floor and into Boba’s lap. You place one hand behind you, and one on your knee to keep balance. Boba submerges himself a bit more, the water coming up to the middle of his chest.
“You look lovely today,” he murmurs, gaze roaming up and down your body in appreciation.
“Thank you,” you reply. “Am I not lovely to you every time you see me?”
Boba smirks. “You are. And even when I don’t see you.”
“Oh,” you whisper, fingers playing with one of the gauzy, black strands of fabric.
It’s loose enough that the material spreads out and hangs toward the floor, revealing plenty of bare leg. Boba’s hand is nearby but not touching. Yet his fingers flex like he wants to touch you but is resisting the urge to do so.
“Join me,” he rasps, those fidgeting fingers forming a fist.
“Is it a command or an ask?” It doesn’t really matter if he’s asking or demanding. Sliding into that warm water with him is a desire you don’t want to resist. Will you straddle his lap, sitting face to face? Or will Boba want you to recline against him, back pressed against his chest?
Boba’s dark gaze is unmoving when he speaks. “It’s what you wish it to be.”
You swallow and sit up straighter. “Look away.”
Boba laughs, and runs his hands through his hair. It sticks up at an odd angle and you giggle.
“Fine,” he agrees, glancing at the wall, whistling to himself.
Slowly, you stand. You partially give Boba your back as you slip one strap over your shoulder and then the other. You loosen the band at your waist, and then the dress is on the ground, a dark pool of fabric at your feet.
Glancing over your shoulder, you find Boba still turned away, but he’s stiff, almost rigid. That is when you notice your reflection. It is blurry, mostly an outline, but it’s clear that you’re nude.
Turning quickly, you cover your breasts and step into the tub at an odd angle to hide yourself. It’s silly, since you’re already taking this leap, but it’s natural to want to hide yourself. This is new. Different. While you’ve always liked him, this is beyond anything the two of you have engaged in.
A few stolen kisses in a backroom means nothing compared to this.
As you start to sink down, Boba’s head turns. Your gazes lock, and then he’s reaching for you, bringing you against him. He does bring you to a straddling position. Boba guides you around until you’re sitting in his lap, back pressed against his chest and head resting on his shoulder.
The water hardly covers your breasts.
“I want to see all of you,” he murmurs in your ear even as his hands run up and down your thighs, waist, and hips under the water.
The motion stirs the water, revealing your breasts to him. Boba groans against your throat as one of your hands reaches back to rub the back of his neck. While keeping one hand on your thigh, Boba gently cups one breast, lightly pinching the nipple between thumb and forefinger.
Your breasts have never been overly sensitive, but Boba’s touch is immense. All-consuming. You’ve never reacted to anyone’s touch like this.
“Gorgeous,” he murmurs. Boba’s hand beneath the water grasps the inside of your thigh and squeezes. “All mine.”
Boba’s lips trail over your neck and then the curve of your jaw near your ear. You turn your head just enough to look at him, and all trepidation you might have held vanishes. This man is enamored. In rapture.
“Let me kiss you, cyar’ika.”
But you do not let him. Instead of saying yes, instead of agreeing, you’re the one who responds with action. Your lips connect with Boba’s, and it seems to surprise him. At first his lips do not react, but then he’s answering back, kissing deeper. Seeking. Wanting to taste.
You open for him, and Boba moans, his hand upon your breast sliding upward to grasp the front of your throat in a possessive hold.
“Do you know how long I’ve wanted this, cyar’ika?” murmurs Boba against your lips. “Do you know how much I’ve craved you?”
“I thought we were bathing,” you reply, and he smiles. It’s so sweet. Soft. Something you’ve never seen on his face.
“You’re right,” he croons. “We are.”
You’ve never been cleaner. Boba keeps you reclined against him as he scrubs and strokes every inch of your body. He is gentle the entire time, pebbling your throat and lips with soft kisses that has your pussy clenching around nothing.
When you’re refreshed, Boba hands over control, and you are just as thorough. You adjust positions, straddling him. Boba wiggles further into the water, leaning back entirely, one arm splayed across the back of the tub while the other rests under the water where it rests on your thigh.
Boba never looks away. His gaze is always on you. There is a dreamy, happy quality to it, like he can’t believe you are truly here with him.
“You’re clean,” you say, twisting out the excess water from the handcloth. You set it aside just as Boba releases the valve for the water to drain.
You start to stand but Boba grabs your waist, drawing you back into his lap. Words begin to form on your lips, but Boba is quick, silencing whatever you wanted to say with a kiss.
“Can I take you to bed?” he asks, drawing back enough to stare into your face.
The water is quickly disappearing, and the sudden rush of air prickles your skin.
“You can have whatever you want,” you answer, and Boba’s grip on your waist tightens.
“And what if I want you on your back, hm?” he prompts. “Would you spread you legs for me?” He leans in for another kiss. This one is chaste. Quick. “Would you let me in, cyar’ika?”
Would you let me in, cyar’ika?
You have to bite back a moan. You’ll give this man anything.
“Dry me off and find out.”
With a swiftness that has you grabbing on to the back of Boba’s neck, he manages to lift you and step onto the bathroom floor in open fluid movement. He holds you in the air like that, and you pretend not to notice his hard as it presses against your inner thigh.
Slowly, Boba eases you to the ground, but he doesn’t let go. Keeping one arm around your waist, Boba snags a towel from the shelf. It is clean and white. Freshly laundered. He drapes it over your shoulders and you find the edges, bringing it in. Boba grabs another for himself.
You start with your ears and throat, then the rest of your body before drying your hair enough that it’s slightly damp. Boba is much faster than you, and he does nothing to help, only watches. Admires. It’s far too intimate, and you keep glancing away, smiling like a kriffing idiot.
“What?” you laugh, and Boba returns the smile.
He gently grabs hold of the towel and you release it to him, leaving you completely bare. The towel falls from his hands, and then Boba is grasping your hips, walking you backward into the dimly lit bedroom.
Boba comes to a halt when the backs of your legs hit the edge of the bed. Keeping one hand on your hip, his other hand grasps the side of your throat, titling your head back a bit as his mouth meets yours in a searing kiss.
Heat is everywhere. It burns beneath your skin, soaring outward until you’re pushing up onto your toes in an attempt to draw closer. Boba is all eagerness. All hunger. He doesn’t stop. Doesn’t pause for air. He is devouring and you want to be consumed by him.
“I want to taste you,” he says between kisses.
When he leans in for more, you pull back, giggling. “You are.”
“No,” he replies, voice growing husky. “I want to taste you here.”
On here, Boba slips his hand between your legs, fingers gently parting your sex to revealing your slickness. The moment his fingers make contact, Boba growls, and it is a needy sound.
“That is what I want,” he reiterates, and you will not tell him no.
“I told you, Boba. You can have whatever you want.”
Boba withdraws his hand from between your legs. “On your back, love.”
You ease down onto the bed and then lean back on your elbows as you scoot away from the edge. Boba’s fingers brush against the tops of your knees before sliding between, easing your legs apart, guiding them wide so that he can move between them.
His rough, calloused hands are soft brands against your inner thighs. They slide upward toward your sex, only to purposefully pass over it instead to grasp waist and stomach.
Boba adjusts, leaning onto one elbow, his other hand roaming across your skin.
He studies the curve of your hip, the softness of your belly, the places where you think there is too much and not enough. Boba worships it all, leaving nothing untouched.
“Ready?” he asks, and you nod.
Boba’s thumb hovers at your entrance where your slickness pools. He draws some up to your clit. Presses. Swirls. It’s a sharp tug. A sudden burst.
You gasp, back arching slightly as Boba continues to play with that sensitive bump. His fingers aren’t even inside you. And you are falling apart, fingers clawing at his shoulders, hips flexing into his touch as your body clenches. The moan is choked, suppressed. Boba grins against your thigh.
“Good. That’s it, cyar’ika,” he purrs, wrist rotating, his middle finger sliding through your wetness.
He finally adds a finger, begins pumping. Your hips buck, and Boba meets with a thrust of his hand. His thumb on your clit is relentless and it isn’t long before you’re clenching again, this time mewling softly, trying hard to relax but failing completely.
That is when Boba descends. That is when he finally takes his taste.
Boba parts your pussy with a slow swipe of his tongue. He swirls up, teasing your clit with just the tip, and that is enough to make your shake, for your back to come off the bed. Without thought, your hands seek him. One slides through his hair, tangling, twisting, anchoring yourself as your hips roll against his mouth, riding his face.
Boba sucks your clit into his mouth and it’s over. You hear yourself but it seems so distant, like you’re falling into a deep hole. Your thighs clench like you’re trying to trap his head between them, but Boba is strong. Insistent. He keeps spread, forcing you wide again to take his tongue without resistance.
You say his name until your voice grows hoarse and you skin is tingling in the afterglow of pleasure.
Around you, the bed sinks as Boba shifts forward, pushing off his knees, crawling over you until the two of you are face to face. Your chest heaves as you gaze up at the man you’ve always held at a distance. Boba’s lips are slightly parted. In the small slashes of light, you glimpse the glossy shine on his lips.
You reach up and run your thumb across that mess only for Boba to suck that digit into his mouth, wiping you clean of yourself.
Boba is so close, and you arch your neck, seeking his mouth. He gives you what you’re seeking, and everything in you melts, becoming one with his warmth. Your hands slide up his chest and then back down, nails grazing over his skin.
He breaks the kiss, panting. “I need you.”
“You can have me.” It’s a wonder that you’re even able to speak.
Pushing up onto one elbow, Boba grasps your wrists, and then you’re rolling on to your stomach, Boba’s weight heavy at your back. Your arms are above your head, pinned there. With a quick adjustment, Boba shifts your wrists to one hand while the other runs up and down your back in a gentle caress.
“Mesh’la,” he murmurs, and you shiver.
Slowly, Boba releases your wrists, but you do not move them. You hold them above your head, awaiting Boba’s next move. Both hands join, moving lower and lower until his hands are full of you. He squeezes your ass and mutters something under his breath that you’re unable to hear.
Boba’s hands fall to your hips. They adjust, bringing them up off the bed a bit. But Boba does not part your legs. Instead, he tests your entrance with a single finger.
Grunting, he withdraws, and then reaches up, snagging one of the pillows.
“Lift your hips,” he commands. You comply, and Boba slips the pillow beneath your lower abdomen. “Better,” he growls, hands returning to your ass.
The bed sinks as he shifts, and again, Boba does not part your legs. He adjusts the pillow some more, arching your hips a bit higher. His hands slide down to the backs of your thighs, pausing near your pussy. With a little pressure, Boba spreads you a bit, but it’s not nearly as much as you expected.
You push up onto your forearm, twisting a bit to look over your shoulder.
Boba’s gaze meets yours just as the head of his cock finds your entrance. He holds himself there, and then thrusts forward.
You cry out, not from pain but from pure pleasure. The stretch is intolerable but so kriffing good you nearly come undone right then.
Boba retreats, and then returns, each roll of his hips giving you more and more of his cock.
“You’re so kriffing tight, cyar’ika,” he groans, feeding you more until your toes curl from the intrusion.
Boba pauses when he bottoms out, holding himself there as his hands slide up and down your back in a soothing caress.
“How do you feel?” The question is one of genuine concern.
You’re no longer leaning on your forearm. You’ve collapsed, cheek pressed against the bed. “Good, Boba. I’m good.”
Boba rolls his hips again, and the slow drag has you clenching. The whimper that accompanies it arrives unbidden, but it is only one of many.
His thrusts begin slow before becoming steady, each one a claiming. Boba drapes himself over you, his forehead resting against the back of your head, and his hands planted on either side of you. Boba uses that as leverage to drive into you over and over.
You are pinned beneath him, taking everything, and it is delicious. You don’t want him to stop. You want to be claimed. To be possessed. To be known by him.
Boba’s breath is hot against your neck, and the words he mutters are of a language you don’t know. He might be cursing you, praising you, or praying to gods you know nothing about.
It isn’t until Boba’s thrusts become quick and erratic that his mind seems to return to you. Keeping one hand anchored to the bed, Boba uses his other hand to tangle his fingers in your hair. Without hurting you, he turns your head just enough to look into your eyes.
“Let me come inside you, cyar’ika.”
“Boba,” you groan as he grinds his hips against you.
“Please,” he begs.
Boba slows his thrusts, awaiting your answer.
You start nodding, but Boba shakes his head like it isn’t enough. “I need words. I need to hear you say it.”
He lightly tugs on your hair and you moan your answer loudly. “Yes.”
Boba’s grip on your hair releases, and your head drops back to the bed. In his end, Boba is relentless, a pounding pace that drives you into the bed. Your fingers claw at the bedding, everything in your clenching and unclenching, your clip rubbing against the pillow until your own release bursts like stardust.
Boba groans against your throat, and then he stills, pressing down with all his weight, burying himself to the hilt. You don’t even care how messy this will be. You only care about how his arms start to go around you. How he completely drapes himself across you like a blanket. How he whispers your name between kisses to the space between your shoulder blades.
Adjusting some of his weight off of you, Boba grasps the front of your throat, and then you’re looking at each other.
“How many more times can I have you tonight?” he muses, lips curling into a smile.
“We should take what we can. Before we depart. Return to our lives,” you answer.
“You think I’m letting you go, cyar’ika?” counters Boba.
You shift to see him better. “Isn’t that what has to happen?”
Boba’s mouth forms in a wide grin. “No. You might return to your books, but when I come calling, I expect to be treated like this.” He lightly thrusts, and you whimper. He’s growing hard again. Needy.
“Boba,” you groan, arching into him.
He kisses your shoulder. Kisses the dip and then your throat. “I’m never letting you go, cyar’ika.”

shufflemancy: So My Darling by Rachel Chinouriri
Hi, love. You've gone through so much, life hasn't been much fair to you, to us. But no matter how hard it is, it's important for us to never give up and stay strong. But it's not easy to stay strong either. Let me give you a gentle reminder that it's ok to cry and break down when you have to, okay? It's okay to let it all out and not bottle all the negative feelings inside. And then once you've done that, you can slowly get back up, take back your strength, and have stronger faith for the future. I know you're strong, I see it in you :) You're really capable more than you think. And it also gives me strength to see your strength. Don't allow yourself to be defeated, okay? We'll get through this. And once we meet, we won't have to go through it all alone. We'll be fighting alongside together. Yours, (their name)

No following; Planet of the apes fanfic Chap. 2
*Author's note*
And here we are with the second chapter of my new POTA series. Like I said I'll be binge posting today so buckle up everyone! Here we get snippets of growing up with Caesar and Lin. Now I have written some scenes based off of deleted scenes from Rise and that'll be the case for some of series. If I find a deleted scene that could fit the story, I'll work around it and place it into my story.
Reminder I do NOT own Planet of the Apes, it belongs to their respected owners, creators and studios. I also don't own any songs that I use for the fic, it's only for entertainment purposes.

All hail Julius Caesar! Well we didn’t call him Julius but Caesar definitely seemed to fit him, especially as he got older.  Now I had read that apes and monkeys were smart but Caesar—I’ll tell you he is something else.  Just short of a year old and he was already signing 24 words with ease, heck I can barely remember 10 of them.  But he’s brought a real light to the house, things just felt a lot more—happier, lighter.
No one seemed depressed anymore.  And I’ll say this, it’s definitely a lot of fun to now have someone to play with at home.  Sure I’ve got my school friends and the friends I’ve made at the rec center but Caesar brings something else that I can’t quite explain.  He looks up to me but also I learn from him, I don’t know if this even makes any sense but is this what it means to be a big sister?
Uncle Will spends most of his time in the study area always talking or taking notes about Caesar.  There’s always video cameras out whenever he’s doing something whether it was drawing, reading, or even playing chess (which he is a master at. Heck he treats checkers like it’s nothing and believe it or not, he’s beaten me at Candyland 17 times!).
Caesar is always up for learning and is so curious, it really is like having a baby around the house.  Like this one time I had caught him listening to some of my CD’s on his stereo with his headphones on, but his curiosity will also get him into trouble when I got mad when he came into my room and took a picture out from under my pillow.  No one and I mean absolutely no one ever touches that photo!
He got scared and kept hiding from me every time I entered a room until later that night uncle Will had me apologize to him and I told Caesar that the picture was something special to me and only I was allowed to look at it (that and uncle Will and grandpa if they were in the room too).  He took notice of my tone and demeanor as I spoke and we ended up snuggling up together on his bed as he comforted me.
Now at age two Caesar was really starting to grow up and show his intelligence.  He was completing puzzles and lego models for kids 8+ so for tweens like me who have to work hard for hours or even days on end on the Lego Star Wars Death star, Caesar can get it done within 24hrs.  Yeah he’s that smart.
I stormed in the house and walked past Irene, grandpa’s nurse and she greeted me.
“Hey Lin, how was your day?”
“It sucked! I’ll be in the attic!” I stomped up the stairs loudly and ran across the hall and reached up for the attic stairway but the rope kept swinging away from my fingertips.  “Damnit!” I hissed lowly as I looked around and found the stepstool.  “I swear I better get a growth spurt once I’m 16!” I pulled down the attic entryway but as I pulled down the staircase fully, I took a few deep breaths trying to calm down.
After scaring him the last time I got angry, I didn’t want to take my anger out on him after the bad day I had.  Once I was calm, I walked up the stairs into Caesar’s room.  Uncle Will and I had worked together to really enrich this old attic into a playroom for Caesar.
Some of the old toys I never played with again were now his, the stereo that stood on a desk filled with some books that he and I would read to Caesar.  All of them ranging from basic children’s books with lots of pictures to young tween novels like The Hobbit, Harry Potter or the Magic tree house series (those books I loved reading when I was little).
There was also some ‘monkey bars’ given for him to hang on or swing around on in order to climb up to the banisters above the balcony.  And of course the giant window that stood proudly at the center of the room and he could look out and see the entire neighborhood (well not the whole neighborhood but you get the picture).
“Caesar?” I called out.  I heard the sound of my old interactive toy phone being played with.  I walked over and looked over his bed and found Caesar on the ground, headphones on and being intrigued with the toy phone.  “Hey! Caesar!” I called out louder as I could faintly hear the loud music coming from his headphones.
He then turned to me and immediately reached for his monkey bars and swung himself onto the bed before bounding over to me and hugged me hotting happily.  The chord of the headphones came off and soon the music he was listening to now played through the speakers of the stereo.  I smiled and felt myself feeling better as he patted me enthusiastically.
“Hey buddy, hi. Oh I missed you too!” I separated from him as he continued to hoot and pant excitedly.  I took the headphones off his head and told him, “You listening to my cd’s again? John Williams this time huh? You like him too?” as E.T’s flying theme started playing through the speakers, Caesar hooted and jumped on the bed as his hands slammed onto the mattress.  “Yeah he’s the best composer ever, maybe I should get you to watch the film. I think you’d like it.”
I went over to the speaker and turned the volume down when I took notice of something on the table just across from his bed.  As I walked over to the table I asked him.
“Hey, where’d you get these puzzles?” Caesar stopped his excitement and just looked at me anxiously.  “Aren’t these grandpa’s puzzles?” I noticed that he had gotten three of my grandpa’s puzzles.  The 500 piece puzzles that only old people can seem to have the patience for.  One was a man and woman on a horse going over a beach, the other was of the New York skylight, and the third was the Declaration of Independence being signed.
The third one he was nearly done and he was about halfway done with the first two.  I turned to Caesar and raised my brow skeptically at him.  He looked down between the bed and my gaze before he lept over the bedframe and hid behind it and occasionally peeking out over the frame before hiding again.  I walked over and stroked along the puzzle of the man and woman on the beach as Caesar began nervously hooting and making a few hand gestures.
“Am I gonna tell?” I translated.  “No, no I won’t tell. This can be another secret of ours.” I heard Caesar walk back and hop onto the bed as I shook my head astounded.  “I can barely do the edge pieces to these things.” I walked over towards Caesar and collapsed across his bed letting out a deep sigh.  Caesar bounded his way over to me, his green eyes showing deep concern as he lowly hooted and signed again.  “Sad? You could say that.”
Caesar then lay down carefully and started stroking through my hair almost like he was grooming me.  I smiled softly and said.
“Thanks brother ape.” I reached and cupped the side of his face and he pressed his face against my palm.  “Never thought I’d see the day, but I don’t think Gabi and I are friends anymore. And it’s for real this time.” Caesar softly grunted as he pointed at the necklace I wore around my neck.  “Yeah, the same Gabi who gave me this, and I gave her one with my name when we both went to Disneyland last summer for our orchestra fieldtrip.”
I sat up as Caesar settled himself close to me, his hand resting on top of my lap as he rested his chin to my shoulder brushing my hair gingerly out of my face.
“I knew she had been acting distant lately, but I’d never thought it was because she was hanging out with Hannah and her cronies. Those girls made our lives hell last year, and now Gabi just up and joins in their little friend group and pretend I don’t exist!? After all we went through! I don’t…..” I felt a couple of tears slip down my face.
I then felt a rough yet gentle leather finger reach up and catch one of my tears.  I sniffled and rubbed my eyes harshly to try and get rid of the tears.
“I’m sorry Caesar, you don’t need all this teenage drama dumped on you.” Caesar softly hooted and signed.
‘Sister was sad, Caesar listened. Talking help?’ I smiled softly.
“Yeah. It did kinda help to talk about it. Can’t really dump this stuff onto gramps, and Uncle Will’s been busier than ever lately. Thank you Caesar.” He smiled at me before jumping off the bed and ran over to grab something.  He came back and placed something into my lap as he hooted softly.  I took the object and saw that it was a miniature handmade bicycle made out of two old toy wheels, some cooper wire, and old silver and green hinges.
I turned the wheels around and marveled at the bike.  It was practically a perfect replica of a real one and he made it with various materials and tools found around up here.  I looked up at Caesar who sat there looking modest.
“Did you make this?” Caesar pondered with his hand to his chin avoiding eye contact for a brief moment before looking at me and opening his mouth panting as he also smiled.  I felt myself smile more as I told him, “You’re a smart yet cheeky ape.” Caesar let out a laugh as I continued, “Maybe you can help me with my science project next eh?” I dug through my backpack and brought out all my books and folders as I showed Caesar what I had learned today in the 6h grade.
As night rolled around a sudden thunderstorm had swept over San Fransisco.  Thank god I already took my bath just an hour before the storm rolled around cause this was probably the worst storm I’ve ever heard.  A loud boom of thunder almost shook the house and I heard the fast paced running of Caesar racing down from the attic, as a flash of lightning struck from my window I suddenly was tackled to my bed and felt a shuddering, furry ape holding onto me while grunting and hooting fearfully.
“It’s okay Caesar, it’ll be okay.”
‘Thunder shake house. Will it be okay?’
“Of course it will. The wind can’t knock down this house, not like the trees outside.”
‘You’re sure?’
“Yes. Here why don’t you sleep with me tonight? I know Uncle Will says you gotta get used to sleeping by yourself when you’re scared but I think tonight he’ll have to learn to make an exception.” Caesar immediately settled himself onto my bed but refused to let go of my hand.
As I got settled in another loud boom of thunder made him shriek as he curled up beside me, his head burying itself into my chest.  I wrapped my arms around him and stroked through his fur in soothing circles.
“Shhhh, it’s okay. I’m here Caesar. It’s okay.” I softly spoke.  But even with my comforting touch and words, I could still feel him trembling in fear.  I thought long and hard until I remembered our favorite movie together.  Mighty Joe Young, the song they sing in the movie, it always seemed to put him in a good mood and he’d always say that the bond between Joe and Jill was like us.  So I did exactly what Jill did for Joe after he had destroyed his enclosure and sung the lullaby from the movie.

I looked down and saw that Caesar had now fallen asleep against my chest, his face now clear of any fear that he had before.  I smiled softly and kissed his forehead before whispering.
“Goodnight little brother.” I pulled the covers over the both of us and soon fell fast asleep holding Caesar in my arms.
And as it turned out, the storm from last night ended up carrying into the next morning.  So I knew that everyone would be driving frantically to their next destination (I swear if it’s not sunny weather, people lose their freakin minds!).  As I donned on my raingear and prepared to leave for the bus stop up the road, Caesar came and took my hand signing as he frantically hooted.
‘No go today. Stay here with Caesar!’
“I can’t Caesar. I’ve got a big math test today and I haven’t studied for it. I’ll be fine and so will you.” Caesar began pulling on my arm hard and fearfully but I took his hand and removed his grip from my arm.  “No Caesar! You stay, I go. No following.” I told him as I also signed it to him knowing that I meant it.
Caesar looked at me pitifully but stepped aside and allowed me to go.
“Be good, I’ll see you when I get back from school.” I kissed his head and opened up my umbrella before quickly racing out of the house for the bus stop.
It was a typical Wednesday (besides the weather).  And like I have every Monday, Weds. and Friday it was my favorite elective, Orchestra.  I’ve really come to love music just beyond listening to it.  Through our class whenever we’re not practicing for Districts, we play the most famous film scores like Pink Panther, Jurassic Park, E.T. we’ve even tried a couple of songs from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
When the bell rang signaling class was over, I packed up my violin and put away the music sheets back onto the table when my teacher Ms. Stanley called out to me.
“Lin, could you stay behind for a moment, I want to talk to you about something.”
“Sure Ms. Stanley, what is it? Am I in trouble?”
“No, no nothing like that. Since you came into my class, I’ve been taking notice of how you play. Most of the students here are in it for an easy grade or just to check something off their elective courses. But when I see you play, you almost seemed enveloped in the music. Like you become one with it.”
“Thanks Ms. Stanley. Growing up I’ve always loved hearing all the best film composers from John Williams to Hans Zimmer, James Horner, Alan Silvestri, James Newton Howard, John Powell, all those guys.”
“Do you know the San Francisco community music center?”
“I know of it but I’ve never been in it. I took lessons from the old rec center that used to be around before they moved buildings a year ago. But they only did up to 10 years old for lessons.”
“Well I happen to have an old college friend who works at the community center. And not only is he the head maestro but he also runs a tour group that goes out every summer to perform for various studios across America. How about you let me recommend you for an audition?”
“Me? Seriously?”
“You’ve got talent in the likes I rarely see in kids your age. Here why don’t you take this brochure and show it to your uncle and have him look at the website for more information. Then once I hear back from my friend I’ll give you the details after class.”
“Yeah, yeah I’ll—I’ll do that. Thank you Ms. Stanley.” I said taking the brochure from her hands and feeling my heart just ready to burst out of my chest in excitement.  I heard the warning bell ring and she quickly wrote me a late pass for my next class and I thanked her again as I raced out with a skip in my step.
Once school was over and I ran down the street in the rain I came up the stairs and quickly unlocked the door and came inside shaking off the raindrops from my umbrella and my raincoat.
“I’m home!” Irena soon came in and she greeted me.
“Hello Lin, had a good day?”
“Oh the best. Where’s gramps I gotta tell him something.”
“I’m afraid it’ll have to wait, your grandpa’s having a—bad day right now. I just had to step aside for a moment to calm myself down.”
“Ohh I see. I’m sorry Irena. But we really do appreciate you coming here, even if he has a bad day.” She merely gave me a hesitant nod but I could see it on her face, she was almost at her wits end with grandpa’s episodes.  I went upstairs to see Caesar and right away I was tackled by him the second I came into the attic space.  “Hey buddy glad to see me huh?”
He hooted and playfully we began to wrestle with each other before he had me pinned down and pretended to whack me repeatedly and I let out a few playful grunts before lying ‘dead’.  I heard Caesar’s curious cooing sounds as he paced around me before sniffing me.  That’s when I opened my eyes and blew air in his face which made him jump back as he shrieked and hollered playfully before laughing.
“Yeah, yeah I’d know you’d never hurt me.” He came up and hugged me before signing.
‘Happy?’
“You could say that. Oh Caesar you wouldn’t believe what my orchestra teacher told me.” I went over to Caesar’s bed and sat down and he came up beside me, curiously looking over my shoulder as I dug through my backpack for the brochure.  “This is the San Fransisco community center. It’s about roughly 25-30 minutes from here, they’ve got the best music and arts program in the entire city. My teacher told me she’s got a friend who’s the head Maestro for the Orchestra dept. there. And she said she’d get me an audition for them!”
Caesar hooted excitedly and signed to me.
‘You’ll get in it.’
“Well first we’ll have to see if he even agrees to have me audition. And if I do somehow get it, I can be a part of that orchestra for as long as I want. And I’ll even be able to tour around the country performing for thousands of people!”
‘You go away forever?’
“No, not forever Caesar. Of course I’ll come back, as long as you’re here waiting for me.” I took his hand.  “You’re my brother ape Caesar, I’ll always be there when you need me, just like I know you’ll be there for me.” Caesar let out a pant as he pulled my head towards him and we pressed our foreheads together as a sign of affection, rocking from side to side.
‘I love you Lin.’
“I love you too big guy. Now wanna learn some more sign language. Bet it gets kinda boring learning the same basics with Uncle Will.” I couldn’t help but tease.  Caesar playfully pushed me down onto the bed which made me laugh and Caesar also let out a laugh as well.  I then pulled out my homework and together we got to work practicing the lesson I was given for this week and to ready myself for the next test coming up in a couple of weeks.
Another year passed by and Caesar was now three years old.  As a surprise, we had planned a little birthday celebration for him.  I was in charge of the decorations and the table setting while Uncle Will made the cake stuffed with some of Caesar’s favorite fruits.  To make sure this was kept a surprise, grandpa promised he’d keep Caesar upstairs and entertain him while uncle Will and I got everything ready in the kitchen.
“How’s the cake coming along uncle Will?” I asked as I tied up another balloon and let it go up towards the ceiling.
“Oh pretty good.” I looked up and saw how he was covered in flour and frosting.
“Uhh uncle Will. I think the frosting’s supposed to go on the cake, not on your face.”
“Haha you’re hilarious.” He said sarcastically. “Just having a bit of trouble getting the last of the frosting out. You know how hard it is when you’re trying to get the last bit of toothpaste out, well imagine that but a bigger tube.”
“I thought you said we had enough frosting?”
“We do, it’s just always a bit tricky to get the frosting to come out especially with all these designs you’re making me do.”
“Hey I only suggested one tree but you had to do two of them, plus writing out the message in frosting. I had written on the list to get those eatable letters you can put on cakes.”
“Those are nothing but cheap plastic letters. And their too small, he could choak on them.”
“He’s smart to know not to eat them whole.”
“Whatever, just get back to decorating.” He ordered me.
“Yes sir squadron leader.” I saluted mockingly.
“Don’t get smart. We don’t have much time before Caesar gets restless and Charles can only hold him off for so long.” I nodded and got back to work.
“You think he’ll like my gift to him?”
“There’s no doubt about that. You’ve been working on it for months now practicing day and night.”
“Yeah, but……”
“Hey, no buts. He’ll love it, he loves it when you play your violin and knowing that you’ve been practicing his favorite score piece, he’s gonna love it.” I smiled softly as I finished setting up the table and Uncle Will finally brought over the cake.  “Okay, all that’s left is the candles and the guest of honor himself.”
“Should I go get them?”
“Be my guest.” He said as we both left the kitchen.  I headed up for the attic and saw both Caesar and grandpa sitting on the bed reading Julius Caesar.
“Sorry for interrupting but we’re ready.” Caesar looked at my with a head tilt as he hooted in confusion.  “We’ve got a surprise for you downstairs Caesar.” At that word, he began to hoot and shriek excitedly as he bounded over towards me.  “Okay, okay easy Caesar. Steady. First you’re gonna have to close your eyes.” He let out a whine but I told him, “don’t play that card on me. What good is a surprise if you just go down and see it? Now close your eyes.”
“C’mon Caesar, just play along with her.” Grandpa encouraged him as he came up and took his hand.  Caesar then climbed up into grandpa’s arms and closed his eyes as we both climbed down the stairs.  “Keep them closed, we’re almost there.” Grandpa told him, “No peeking.” Caesar hooted and started to bounce in grandpa’s arms until we finally came to the kitchen and I said.
“Okay, open them.” When Caesar removed his hand from his eyes, they grew wide at all the decorations as we all cried out.
“Surprise!” He let out some excited shrieks as he hopped out of grandpa’s arms and came over to the table and admired everything.  He first went over to uncle Will and hugged him.
“You’re welcome pal, happy birthday.” Caesar then came over to me and we hugged each other.
“Surprised you didn’t we?” Caesar let out a few excited pants as he smiled happily.
“Alright, here we go.” Uncle Will soon lit the candles as we all sat down around the table and we sang happy birthday to Caesar.  He was so happy as he looked at each of us and swayed in his seat before he blew out his candles by the end of the song.  We clapped and uncle Will began cutting the cake for each of us to eat.
Pictures were taken, laughs were had, and Caesar rejoiced at the new presents he got from grandpa and uncle Will.  Then the time came for me to give Caesar my gift.  I grabbed my violin and tuned it up before telling Caesar.
“Hey Caesar, come into the living room real quick.” Soon he, uncle Will and grandpa came in and Caesar and grandpa took a seat on the couch, uncle Will stood at the doorway between the living room and the kitchen with a video camera in hand.  “Uncle Will turn it off!” I cried out.
“It is off.”
“No it’s not why’s the red light on?”
“It’s the off light.” I looked at him annoyed. “Just go pretend I’m not doing anything.” I let out a groan but turned to Caesar and said.
“This is for you buddy, happy birthday.” I took a deep breath before exhaling as I held my violin to my shoulder and placed the bow along the strings.  I heard the song in my head and readied my fingers on the notes that needed to be played and soon the famed score for “E.T’s flying theme” began echoing through the living room.
Caesar let out a few excited pants and shrieks as he clapped before settling down and watched me in awe as I continued to play his favorite John Williams score.  Closing my eyes I felt myself enwrapped in the music as I could feel myself flying in the sky much like E.T and Elliot did on their bike.
Even though it was just me and my violin playing, no brass instruments or accompanying strings, I still gave as much emotion into this performance as I would if I had a whole orchestra with me.  Once I got to the end and finished the final notes, all went quiet before I heard the three person applause.
“Oh brava, bravo!” grandpa cheered.  I opened my eyes and bowed before Caesar came up and hugged me.  I set my violin down and hugged him back.
“Did you like it?”
‘Loved it! Caesar very happy! Thank you Lin.’ He signed as he hooted excitedly.
“You’re welcome little brother. Happy birthday.” I hugged him back and rocked him back and forth as I saw Uncle Will shut the camera off and he gave me a knowing smirk before winking at me.

True Romance - A Hunger Games One Shot
Finnick x Reader
So this fic is inspired by the song True Romance by Tove Lo. I recommend giving a listen before and after you read this. There will also be ~lyrics~ scattered throughout.
Synopsis: You and your soulmate/fellow district 4 victor Finnick are both reaped for the Quarter Quell. Your worlds shatter as you both realize you could not live without each other… and you won’t.
Note: This fic deviates from cannon as in the story, there is no rescue plan/rebellion plan to get the victors out of the QQ/save Katniss. The rest of the characters are the same outside of you going in for Mags.
Also, I do not own the rights to any of the lyrics I sprinkled throughout this story. They all come from the song True Romance by Tove Lo and thus belong to their respective copyright owners.
Content warnings: severe emotions and suicide - please do not read if you are not in the right headspace. Warning you will cry (I cried writing this). Fluff and angst but no smut outside of kissing. Normal hunger games violence/murder. Mention of bullets in the song lyrics.
Also it’s a long one! About 5.5k words but I didn’t want to split it up into parts as I felt the story was better being one long part. Also sorry for the formatting I write my fics in my iPhone notes. Enjoy!

“I walk in a vision in red
Your favorite movie playing on my silhouette”
~
He had been your everything for as long as you could remember. You grew up as neighbors in a small neighborhood on the edge of District 4. You remember walking to school with him every day, convinced all you would be was best friends and nothing more would come of it.
That all changed when at the age 14 he was reaped for the Hunger Games. You have never cried so much in your life. Holding onto him as you said your goodbyes in the back of the justice building, you made him promise that he would win and return to you.
He kept his promise, just as he has kept every promise since that day. When he returned to you a few weeks later, you were the happiest person in all of District 4. Even though he was no longer your neighbor, you visited him constantly in Victor’s Village whenever you could sneak out of your small neighborhood.
You grew closer together over the years until at age 16 you were reaped for the Hunger Games.
“I’m not coming back Finn,” you cried as you said your goodbyes to your mentor.
“Yes you are,” he said. “If I can come back then so can you.”
You wanted to believe him more than anything, but at the same time you felt hopeless. When you did actually make it out of the games, you were so completely numb and ready to shut everyone out, but he wouldn’t let you. You were back to being neighbors again, but it wasn’t the same.
Slowly, but surely you returned to him. You became even closer as he became your reason for living. Slowly your feelings started to develop past friendship, but you didn’t have the heart to tell him. He was one of the only people you had left, and you were so scared of losing him and messing up the friendship you had.
~
“You turn to me just for a minute
Do you know my real secret?”
~
Returning to the capital every year to mentor was hard, but at least you got to do it with him. You often spent the night curled up in his bed on the fourth floor, unable to sleep due to the nightmares. You were worried that he would soon catch onto your feelings for him, but you needed him more than anything and we’re too scared to push him away, or let your feelings for him go.
Over the years, he started to catch onto your feelings. He had always felt the same way, but never thought you would feel that way about him. He was equally scared though to voice his feelings in fear of messing up the dynamic you two had. You were his everything, and he couldn’t bear the thought of losing you over confessing his feelings.
~
“Make my move
Spillin' all my popcorn over you
You're confused
What does a girl like me want with you?”
~
After a particularly long day of training your newest tributes for the arena, you slid into bed with him and curl up in his arms. This was your normal routine, but you could tell something was off tonight. He was nervous and you could feel his chest rise and fall faster than normal.
“What’s up Finn,” you asked concerned as you pulled away to look at him, sitting up on the bed.
“Nothing,” he mumbled as he refused to make eye contact with you.
You raise his head to look at you as you reply, “I know you Finn, you can tell me anything. No judgement, just honesty.”
He tried to hide his nervousness as you looked at him, hoping that you would let this whole topic go for once, but he knew you. And he knew you would keep asking until he gave you a straight answer.
“I love you,” he said nervously. “I’ve loved you since we were 7 but I never wanted to tell you because I was worried it would end our friendship…”
You tilt his head up to look at you again as you pressed your lips into his. It felt so good to finally hear him say those words to you, knowing you had felt the same way for quite a while. He kissed you back slowly pulling you back into his arms.
“I never thought I would have a chance with you,” he mumbled. “You were always the pretty one growing up and I was the class clown who was constantly getting in trouble. I put you through hell and back when I was shipped off to the games and I know you went through hell and back to return to me after yours.”
You kissed him again in reassurance.
“I love you Finn,” you told him. “Forever.”
~
“I want your hands
Your future plans
To the bitter end”
~
Three years later, you were walking down an aisle of rose petals on the beach with a beautiful bouquet in your hands. Your friends and family had gathered for your special day and you couldn’t be more excited to finally marry your soulmate. As you looked at him, you could see tears gathering in his eyes.
“You’re so beautiful my love,” he whispered in your ear.
“Forever and always Finn,” you smiled.
“You may now kiss the bride.”
Your kisses were always passionate, but this was the best one of all. You both were over the moon to finally cement your love in eternity for each other, and you couldn’t wait for your happily ever after to finally begin. Unfortunately, that happy ever after was short-lived.
A quick six months later and you were both sitting in front of the TV of your home, anxiously awaiting the announcement of the 75th hunger games. When the words came out of President Snow’s mouth, stating that the tributes would be reaped from the existing pool of victors, your heart shattered into millions of pieces. Finnick was the only living male victor of district 4, and there was no way you were sending Mags into that arena. After her stroke a few years ago. Her health had rapidly deteriorated and you don’t even know if she would live long enough to make it to the reaping let alone the games.
You fell asleep that night, and every night after, completely numb and crying in his arms.
~
“Take a life for me, you know I'd do it instantly
In danger of a true romance
We are meant to be, I'd die for love and loyalty
In danger of a true romance”
~
Mags passed just two weeks short of the reaping. Her funeral was brief and intimate, with only a few gathering. You were grieving the loss of your mentor as well as both you and your husband’s impending end.
Are the reaping was painful as you were forced to look out over the sorrowful faces of your community who gathered for your send off. They knew that they were most likely going to lose their only remaining victors in a few short days.
You held his hand as your names were both called, putting on a brave face for the cameras, but you both knew neither of you were making it out of the arena. Although you both had a good shot of winning against the other victors, you knew he would die for you and you for him.
You held onto each other the whole train ride to the capital, wanting to spend each and every moment together. You were angry at the capital. You would never get to have his kids, you would never get to grow old together and you would never have your happily ever after that you had worked so hard for.
The tribute parade was bittersweet. You were both adored in the capital and were seen as the royal couple of the capital. The people lived vicariously through your love, and were devastated to see both of you back and headed into the arena.
“You look beautiful as always love,” Finnick stated as he took in your parade outfit. Your long, baby blue dress perfectly hugged your curves as it flowed down your body, gently giving the impression of water. Your husband was dressed in a flowy blue dress shirt that matched your dress as well as a pair of tan slacks. You grabbed his hand as he pulled you up onto the chariot, handing you a sugar cube as you anxiously waited for the parade to begin.
Tears streamed down your face as you rode your way down towards the cold eyes of President Snow. You couldn’t bear to look at the crowd or Finnick. He squeezed your hand as your chariot pulled around the circle and started back towards the tribute and remake center.
Finally, the ride was over and you were able to go back upstairs with your husband. You collapsed in his arms, drifting off to sleep under the warm comforter of the bed.
~
“I don't like the real world
I don't like the real world
It's tough out in the real world
Let's go back to our world”
~
Over the next few days, you didn’t leave his side at all. You held his hand as he practiced with the tridents in the training center, and he held yours as you threw knives at the dummies, pretending they were Snow. The rest of the victors gave you both sad and knowing looks as they could see the pain in both of your eyes.
Every night you held him tighter and wished that you could stay in bed forever with him.
“I don’t want to leave you,” you cried as you held onto him.
“You’ll always be with me love, forever and ever,” he whispered as he kissed your forehead.
“I wish we could just run away and escape all of this,” you mumbled through sobs. “Never enter the arena. Never have to leave each other.”
“I know,” he whispered. “I love you forever.”
~
“Bullets fly, you took him down
And now we're honeymooners dreamin' 'bout tropical skies”
~
Peacekeepers had to pry you two off of each other as they sent you to your respective rooms under the arena. You cried the entire way to your room, desperately, hoping that you would find him quickly in the arena.
“It’s a wetsuit so I would expect a hot climate with water,” your stylist stated as she got you ready.
Looking at it, made you sick as you knew this was Snow’s twisted way of separating you from Finnick. He knew that both of you would have the advantage in the arena with there being water and he wanted one of you to survive without the other. He wanted you both to suffer.
Tears began slipping from your eyes as you rose into the arena, but you quickly wiped them away. You couldn’t let the other tributes see you as weak as they would quickly pick you off before you could find Finnick. You desperately looked around for him, but couldn’t locate him. He must be on the other side of the cornucopia. Your hands began to shake as the countdown neared zero.
When the gong sounded, you dove into the water, swimming with all of your strength towards the spoke to your right. You quickly pulled yourself up and sprinted towards the cornucopia, but not before the male tribute from nine tackled you back into the water. You struggled against his grasp as he tried to pull you under, but you knew you could hold your breath for at least three minutes. All you could hope is that he couldn’t hold his breath for as long as yours.
He began thrashing about in the water as he repeatedly kicked you in the ribs. You managed to kick him a few times yourself, but you were mainly focused on holding your breath. Gasping in pain would only allow the water to enter your lungs faster and there is no way you were drowning less than five minutes into the games.
Slowly, you noticed him starting to struggle as he tried to pull you back towards the surface. You yanked him down with all of your strength, trying to stop him from swimming upwards in his panic state you managed to kick him in the ribs enough times to knock the air out of his lungs, he began choking on the water as you were able to get out of his grasp and quickly swim towards the surface. As your head breached the water you heard a cannon go off, and the male tribute’s body floated to the surface.
Panicked, you looked around at the carnage surrounding the cornucopia. Bodies laid everywhere and cannons went off every minute or two. Suddenly, you heard Finnick screaming for you and saw him running around the cornucopia trying to spot you. You were out of breath from your struggle, but managed to pull yourself up on one of the spokes as he came running over to you.
“Oh my god I thought you were dead,” he said as you shook in his arms.
“I killed the male from 9,” you said as sobs racked your body.
“Come on we have to go now,” he said as he pulled you into the woods.
After about an hour of running, you sat down to rest. The adrenaline was slowly wearing off, and your ribs were beginning to bruise under your wetsuit. Luckily Finnick had grabbed some knives for you and a trident for himself from the cornucopia.
Suddenly 11 cannons rang out through the area, marking the end of the bloodbath.
“How many people did you get,” you asked Finnick as you both were trying to catch your breath. The arena was unbelievably hot and you had yet to find drinkable water.
“Two,” he replied. “Both from 5.”
You held onto each other for a few more minutes until you decided to start moving again, desperate to find fresh water.
A few hours later, you still have no luck finding water. You decide to set up camp under some large trees and settle down for the night. You both snacked on some of the food Finnick harvested from the surrounding trees and talked about who was going to take the first watch.
Suddenly the familiar chimes of a parachute grow louder as a gift from your sponsors floats down to your camp. Finnick lets you open it, and you discover a small metal object with a note that says “drink up”.
You turn to Finnick as you exclaim, “do you have any idea what this is? It’s way too small to store any water.”
He laughs at you as he takes it from your hand and walks over to a tree.
“Honey it’s a spile,” he laughs as water starts flowing from the tree. “Come here and drink.”
“Honestly, I have no clue what that is but I’m not complaining,” you state as you start drinking from the tree.
After you both rehydrated and washed your faces, you settled down for the night. Finnick insisted on taking first watch so you could get as much rest as possible. Suddenly the anthem started playing as the fallen we’re about to be shown. There had been no cannons since the bloodbath but you were anxious to see which faces appeared in the sky.
The faces of Beetee, Wiress, Blight, Wolf, and Seeder appeared in the sky along with both tributes from 5, the female morphing from 6, both tributes from 9 and the female from 10.
“Eleven down, thirteen to go,” Finnick muttered.
You squeezed his hand and gave him a sad look as you laid down to rest, quickly dozing off.
~
“In trouble again
When does it end?
Will it ever end?
Save me”
~
You woke to the sound of heavy rain hitting the canopy of the jungle that surrounded you. It couldn’t have been more than a few hours since you dozed off but Finnick was still alert and on guard. Suddenly, the rain became heavier and you and Finnick quickly realized that the rain was not water- it was blood.
Hot thick blood coated your bodies as you ran through the jungle, desperate to find anything to shelter you from the rain. You felt like you were suffocating but Finnick held your hand tightly as you stumbled over roots and vines.
After running for what felt like hours the rain finally stopped. Finnick grabbed some moss off of a nearby tree and began to clean the blood off of you. He managed to get the spile working again and you were both able to somewhat rinse yourselves off using the small stream from the tree.
Once you both were clean and had a moment to catch your breaths, you heard the scream of a man in the distance. You couldn’t see anyone but you could sense that they were too close for comfort.
“Which way Finn?” you whispered to your husband.
“This way,” he replied as he slowly started moving in the opposite direction of where you heard the screaming from. Your hands were clasped tightly together as you tried to sneak away quietly but that all changed the second you heard the cannon go off.
“Run!” you whispered as both you and Finnick took off into a sprint away from the other tributes. You couldn’t see them but you had the feeling they were following you.
Suddenly an axe flies past your head as Finnick pushes you to the ground. You quickly get up and turn to face your assailants. You were met with the faces of Johanna Mason and the male from district 10 wielding a spear. You slipped a knife from your belt and quickly flung it at Johanna who was getting ready to throw her other axe. She dodged and it grazed her leg but not enough to stop her from charging at you with the axe. You rolled underneath her as she swung down at you, narrowly missing your head. Pulling a larger knife from your belt, you took a swing at her, slashing a gash into her cheek.
You lose focus for a second when you hear Finnick grunt and then a cannon go off. Johanna and you both look over to see Finnick standing over the body of Johanna’s ally, fresh blood dripping from his trident. You stab Johanna in the arm before she kicks you hard in the ribs and flees into the jungle. You would have bolted after her but Finnick was suddenly by your side to checking to see if you were injured.
“I’m fine Finn she just kicked me in the ribs,” you said as you stood back up. You looked over at him and saw his shoulder was bleeding.
“It’s fine,” he said as he noticed you looking at his shoulder. “He barely grazed me and it’s not deep.”
You gave him an annoyed look as you went to gather some moss to press on his wound. As you returned you both agreed that you should get moving as your fight wasn’t exactly quiet and you didn’t know if others were on their way, eager to capitalize off of the carnage of your fight.
~
“Running from the scene, more money that we could ever dream
In danger of a true romance”
~
You set off back towards the beach. Johanna had run further into the Jungle and you weren’t looking for another fight just yet. Both of you knew the beach was a risk but you wanted to wash the remaining blood off from the rain you had encountered earlier.
After an hour or so of walking you decided to pause for a snack break. Finnick had gathered some nuts and berries earlier that you had deemed edible so you both sat down to eat. Quickly you are both on your feet again as you hear the all too familiar sounds of water crashing- a tsunami. You can’t remember the last time you ran that fast. Memories flooded into your head of the tsunamis you had seen in the past but you had never experienced one first hand. Feeling the water getting closer you looked back, only to notice that the trees weren’t falling from the impact of the water.
“Quickly Finn! We need to climb the trees!” you gasped, out of breath from the running. You only had seconds to spare as he hoisted you up into a tree before climbing up behind you. You both climbed up and up until the branches were too thin to hold your weight. The water had shook the tree violently upon impact but you both held on tight. Looking down, you saw the body of a woman being swept in the current. It was too loud to hear if a cannon had gone off but you think you could make out the dark hair of Cecelia, the woman from District 8.
~
“Bodies left to bleed, they all had it comin'
In danger of a true romance”
~
When the water had finally subsided, you climbed down from the tree and walked the remaining distance to the beach. Finnick went ahead to check if the coast was clear and you followed once he gave you a nod that it was clear.
He gathered some leaves from the trees to use as cushions as you got the spile working again. After a few minutes, Finnick had woven a picnic blanket for you to both sit on. The familiar chime of a parachute sounded as a picnic basket full of bread floated down from the sky. You laid there for hours with him, snacking on the bread and talking about the beaches of home. He quickly dozed off into a nap as you soothingly ran your fingers through his messy hair.
You didn’t realize that you had fallen asleep until he woke you up to watch the sunset with him. There were tears in both your eyes as you realized this might be your last sunset together.
“Thank you for everything Finn,” you said as tears ran silently down your face. He wiped the tears from your eyes and planted a kiss on your forehead.
“You don’t have to thank me love,” he replied. “I would do it over and over again in all of my lifetimes with you. I love you forever”
You both sat their crying until the sky grew dark.
Dread filled your chest as the anthem began playing. The faces of the male morphling, Cecelia, and the district 10 male populated the sky before it went dark again.
You took the first watch, waking Finnick a few hours later so you could rest. He kissed you gently as you fell asleep in his arms.
You slept until dawn when he shook you awake and quickly pulled you back into the forest. He hushed you he pointed you towards the cornucopia where you could make out a fight happening on the rocks. The siblings, Gloss and Cashmere, were taking on Katniss and Peeta from 12. You were terrified that they had seen you but Finnick steadied your breathing and held you tight. He didn’t think you guys had been spotted but he wasn’t sure.
A bloodcurdling scream broke out followed by a cannon, Katniss lay bleeding on the rocks, her throat slit, while Peeta was frozen in fear. He quickly snapped out of it and began sprinting away from the siblings down one of the spokes. He wasn’t running directly towards you, but he wasn’t running away from you either. Maybe he had seen you and was hoping Cashmere and Gloss would be more interested in hunting you down than chasing him.
~
“Thought I watched you die, I killed a man with tears in my eyes
In danger of a true romance”
~
He was partially correct. Cashmere continued to follow Peeta into the jungle but Gloss quickly turned towards you and Finnick. You thought it was stupid that he would try attacking both of you without his sister until you saw the rage in his eyes. He was full of adrenaline and was not messing around.
You threw two knives at him in quick succession as he sprinted straight towards Finnick, holding a long dagger in his hand. One of the knives lodged in his torso but it wasn’t enough to immediately take him down. He dodged Finnick’s trident and jammed his knife into Finnick’s thigh. It must have penetrated a few inches in as Finnick fell backwards onto the ground. Before Gloss had the chance to finish him off you flung a knife straight into his throat. The cannon was almost immediate as he fell onto Finnick.
Relieved, you thought the fight was over until a screaming Peeta was suddenly silent as another cannon boomed. You knew Cashmere was going to come looking for her brother and so you had to act quickly. Finnick was not in any position to move so you gave him a quick kiss before running off into the jungle towards where you thought Cashmere would be.
Peeta had put up a better fight than you had expected as Cashmere was bleeding from her nose and ear. She flung a knife in your general direction but it was clear her balance was effected by whatever damage Peeta had done to her head. You flung your last two knives at her before she had a chance to throw anymore at you. She fell to the ground as your knives had hit her right eye and her heart. The cannon sounded and you quickly picked up your knives as well as the remaining knives she had on her belt and ran back towards where you had left Finnick.
You found him pressing moss to his leg, the dagger laying besides him.
“Why did you take it out! You aren’t supposed to take it out,” you cried as you looked at the dagger next to his leg.
“It’s ok it’s not that bad,” he said as he tried to console you, but you were violently sobbing on the ground next to him.
“No you can’t do that. You’re gonna bleed out,” you cried.
“Shhh it’s ok,” he whispered as he pulled you into a hug. You laid on him sobbing into a parachute made it’s way down through the canopy and onto the ground next to you. Quickly opening it, you found first aid supplies for his leg. You apologized as you pressed alcohol onto the wound and your husband cried out in pain. He squeezed your hand as you gave him stitches and then bandaged the wound. You moved him a few yards away from where Gloss’s body still laid and made him rest so the medicine on his leg could start working. He could tell how exhausted you were so he made you take a nap while he took watch.
“No you need the rest,” you complained as you brought him water.
“I can’t sleep until the pain meds kick in,” he stated. “I’ll wake you up before they make me sleepy or if any danger appears as I’m not in any shape to fight right now.”
You reluctantly agreed and laid down on his lap. Sleep came quickly as you were exhausted from the morning’s events. Eventually Finnick woke you up as the meds were making him sleepy.
“Stay awake for a few more minutes,” you said. “I’m gonna go grab some more moss for your leg.” He hummed in reply and you quietly got up to grab some moss.
~
“Saved you from that room, the powder and gold and the men were all doomed
Against our love, they never stood a chance”
~
A few steps into the jungle your head began to vibrate and you felt a weird energy come over you. Paranoid, you looked around as the trees changed colors. The green leaves were turning blue and the trees seemed to be leaking a yellow sap. Suddenly, you noticed movement to the left of you and you quickly flung a knife towards the movement. A grunt was followed by a swift punch to your jaw. You guess your assailant was closer to you than you initially thought. Dizzy, you fell to the ground as the world started spinning around you. Swirls of color clouded your vision as the man who had punched you moments before was now on top of you, his spear pressed against your neck. Looking up at him, you saw the face of Finnick.
“Finnick it’s me!” you screamed. “Get off!”
He pushed down further on your neck as you began to choke. Grabbing the spear you began trying to push it off of you and away from Finnick. You grabbed at his hands only to realize he only had one. Where his other hand should be was a stump of flesh. Your mind continued to race as you quickly realized whoever you were fighting wasn’t Finnick. For one, Finnick didn’t use a spear, and secondly he had two hands and the stump of flesh did not look like a recent injury.
You continued to scream until the person on top of you was shoved off of you and impaled with a trident. He slowly morphed into Chaff as the real Finnick pulled you up into your feet and dragged out away from the body. The cannon sounded and your vision slowly returned to normal as your head stopped vibrating.
It suddenly made sense- the missing hand, the spear, the trees changing colors.
“It’s ok love it’s ok,” Finnick said as he held you tightly. “You’re safe.”
Finnick brought you back to the tree line by the beach and laid you down. He held you tightly as you took a nap.
You woke in a panic to the sound of another cannon but quickly relaxed when you saw Finnick was ok. You noticed his leg was looking better which made you relax further.
“Your leg looks better,” you said as you smiled up at him.
He gave you a quick kiss and a smile as he replied, “I told you I would be alright.”
“Who do you think is left?” you asked.
“There’s just two besides us,” he stated. “I don’t know who’s cannon that was. It’s a toss up between Johanna, Brutus, and Enobaria.”
“Who do you hope it was?” you asked.
“Brutus or Enobaria,” he replied. “I am hoping Johanna is still in a bad shape from our last fight and Brutus and Enobaria are probably teamed up.”
You agreed with him but quickly realized the finale would be starting soon. There were only four of you left.
~
“Take a life for me, you know I'd do it instantly
In danger of a true romance
We are meant to be, I'd die for love and loyalty
In danger of a true romance”
~
The sound of mutts startled you but you could tell they were coming from the other side of the arena, probably chasing the other victors towards you. Finnick and you both stood up quickly and gave each other a kiss as you readied for battle. A bloody Johanna emerged from ten jungle about 100 yards away from you, and both you and Finnick bolted towards you. Taking her out now would mean you could face the final other victor together.
Finnick was faster than you as you raced towards Johanna. Suddenly, you were struck in the collar bone by a sword and stumbled to the ground. An enraged Enobaria stood over you, ready to pounce. Thinking quickly, you kicked her sword out of her hands but she quickly jumped on top of you, her full weight on your chest as she clawed at your stomach with her hands. You desperately grabbed for your knives but Enobaria put her knees on your arms, pinning them to the sand.
You let out the most blood curdling scream as Enobaria’s teeth ripped into your torso, taking a good chunk of flesh and probably some of your insides with it. You heard a cannon, honestly thinking it was yours, until you saw Enobaria get impaled by a trident. Another cannon sounded as your vision started to fade out.
~
“I don't like the real world
I don't like the real world
It's tough out in the real world
Let's go back to our world”
~
You feel Finnick pick you up as sobs racked his chest.
“Please don’t die on me!” He sobbed. “Please.”
You felt like you were floating until you realized you were. Finnick had laid you in the water as he held onto you for dear life.
“Please don’t leave me,” he cried.
It took all of your remaining strength to reach your hand up, cupping his face.
“I love you Finn. Forever.”
His final promise- “I promise I won’t live without you.”
He cried harder as your vision faded out. The last thing you felt was his lips on yours as you lost consciousness.
The last thing you heard was a cannon going off as Finnick impaled his heart with one of your knives, sinking into the water next to you.
The last thing you remember was how much you loved him.
The final cannon sounded.
They would have no victor.

I hope you enjoyed/cried!

CLUB OWNER
The owner of ‘HELL BUNKER’ wears the name ‘Garnet’. A simple man, born as Falco Ritter in Cologne, Germany.
Coming from a middle class worker family, he migrated over to the NUSA to fulfill himself a dream of becoming an artist and of owning a place of his own to show his passion to the world: Techno(ise). Garnet’s lifeblood is not only his bunker and mixing music as a DJ himself, but also his event Chrome Chamber Rave and the radio station ‘HELL BUNKER.FM’ that provides the newest tech hits as well as an online and print techno(ise) magazine named “160+ BPM” that he releases every month. Garnet is an artist and self-starter through and through! Falco has earned quite a high cred and respect in the Night City raver business as his location with mainly CCR is unique compared to other techno(ise) clubs in the city. His vision was not only to bring European, especially German, techno(ise)¹ back to the NUSA, but also to combine it with other artforms and the desire of primal energy that lies deeply rooted within us. He used to be dj-ing at Totentanz years ago which gave him a lot of inspiration for creating HELL BUNKER afterwards. Today, being a quite known underground Techno(ise) DJ within the scene and his bunker, Garnet is still down to earth as a musician and business owner who loves to collaborate with other artists to create art that moves you cerebral and visceral altogether. He also does not shy away from acting as a bouncer for his own club. So if you may have asked yourself why he’s decorating himself with Gorilla arms: It’s for throwing out those who don’t behave appropriately. Falco doesn’t make any excuses.

SET LIST
Garnet's common set list for Chrome Chamber Rave, a fictional hard technoise event in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. He still deejays at CCR. His setlist is of course all hard techno(ise) yet he concentrates to mix it with more emotions and a touch of industrial, even some lyrics and tends to venture further than that. Each song is unique to itself and can be a true experience if you are willing to let yourself soaked in and let it touch your soul.
“Technoise may not be able to save the world, but it will save your soul.”
— Falco ‘Garnet’ Ritter
Cover artwork by me. Steal and you will be doomed. I‘ve chosen tracks only by one artist named ‘Roman Gehrecke’. This artist is the closest to what I imagine Garnet would produce as well. So I decided to borrow the music for Falco. Of course all the music belongs to Roman Gehrecke! There's one song at the end of it I see as the one that is always played at last so the audience knows ok after that it's done. This song is also not by the artist mentioned above but has a well known melody majority knows.
Recommendation: ‚Gefallene Engel‘, ‚Anderswelt‘, ‚Stimmen der Tiefe‘ and ‚Schutt und Asche‘ – best listened to via headphones and making time for it should you want to try to get soaked into.
———
¹ "Technoise and its various derivations dominate much of the German scene. If you're hip, you already know about Technoise. If not, listen up. Technoise is quite popular with the discerning young punk; it was popularized by Germany's own NetWerk actually, you've got your Overlay style from London, Jazznetic from Rotterdam and Echo from Frankfurt. In addition, there are people producing Frock (Fractal Rock) all over the place. The good thing is, Technoise is quite easy to produce. You only need a small computer, some software and you're ready to buzz. Those of you with a message might miss the political attitude, but you're missing the point. Technoise is strictly for partying, tripping and dancing. People meet and dance up to the runner's point. Maybe that's a political statement in itself, oder?" — Eurosource Plus – The New Eurotheater Sourcebook for Cyberpunk

The worst that could happen would be that you would end up crying your heart out in the middle of the room and everyone would pity you.
But Sylvie didn’t think that something worse than that could even happen on the same day she signed her contract with Red Bull.
The headquarters of Red Bull in Milton Keynes wasn’t that much different than the Mercedes AMG office in Brackley— she knew that; she frequented the place whenever Toto would work in the office just to pester him and his staff.
The difference between the two, however, had something to do with the sense of comfort that she lacked as she stood in front of the Wall of Fame, her eyes staring directly at the images of Christian Klien and David Coulthard. Her figure felt so tense, anybody with a sharp object could cut her easily.
Her sister, Tilly, had been an owner of this team for two years now, yet she felt like this place didn’t even belong to her family. Sylvie couldn’t even claim that she was proud of being a part of the Red Bull group— she didn’t even know jack shit inside this office. She knew how much she disliked Christian Horner, but that’s the only Red Bull headquarters related thing that remained in her brain.
Then came her contract. She sat down next to Stevie and Tilly as she continued to skim through the terms and conditions of her contract. It was dead silent, and she disliked every single bit of it. Should she have an office in this place, she’d definitely blast some songs to get away from bullshit.
Sylvie barely finished reading the last section when she heard Christian speak and clear his throat. She stared at him, hand still holding onto the papers as he stated, “I know that we’ve come across one another in a rather negative manner so I would like to personally apologize to you.” She raised a brow at him, telling herself that it was time for him to own up to what he did or rather what he didn’t do.
The youngest in the room bit back quietly, “For what?” Stevie coughed next to her, obviously trying not to laugh at her sister’s sassiness as she knew what would happen after Sylvie slipped those two words out. The Hearth sisters knew a lot and one of them was that Sylvie would always make sure that the others would have hell to pay. She was self-aware of the things that she deserved - and she knew that equal respect and dignity were two of those things.
Christian stared at her for a moment, confusion written all over his face. Sylvie leaned against the chair she sat in and crossed her arms, papers still on her hand as she said, “I don’t know what you are specifically apologizing for, so for what?”
The Red Bull team principal sighed exasperatedly. Tilly looked over and gave Stevie a wag of her brows, liking the situation that was happening in front of them.
“You sound like you don’t mean it, Horner,” Sylvie pointed out with a mutter.
“I apologize for not finding a way to make you feel comfortable in your own working environment,” he spoke like he was a robot who was only coded to speak those words. “I could have done so much better and tried to help you adapt to that situation. But it was a busy weekend—“
“And so will the rest of the race weekends ahead of us,” Sylvie snarked. To say that she wasn’t scared of her future employer was an understatement; Christian just had his own ass handed back to him by making him admit to what he’s done wrong. Now she continued to test him as she said, “I am not saying that I won’t be working hard to continually improve the image of the team, but some support will be sufficient. I like the thought of fending for myself, but that would just mess up my performance as a team player.”
She was still hurt about what happened a month ago, of course. Being left out like a lost puppy in her workplace environment gave her the anxiety that she never thought would ever come back. The boys from her past definitely made it worse. Being yelled at by Christian about her performance that weekend only put the cherry on top. She couldn’t really cooperate with the team if they left her out to figure shit out on her own.
So it was only rightful of her to blast him with endless words that could hopefully make them realize that they needed to correct their mistakes as the seniors and veterans of the team. She didn’t care if it could tick him off; she didn’t deserve to be treated poorly on her first weekend. If that was how rookies were treated then she sure as hell would address that matter— nobody deserves to be treated like such.
“I acknowledge your frustration over what had happened in the span of a weekend. As I said, I could have done so much more than berate you in front of other people,” Christian told her calmly, “and as your superior, I’ll gladly work with you to figure out what could possibly work best as you delegate with your peers.”
You should have thought of that before,” Sylvie rolled her eyes, grabbing a pen laid out on his desk and signed the contract, not even looking at him in the eyes while she did it.
She found herself looking around once more, now disappointed that her sisters had left after the meeting. She toured the headquarters with Daniel Haas— some communications officer who happened to be a year or two older than her— leading the way. She had seen the place before she even attended her meeting, so listening to him had no point as she continued to look at him and nod.
Daniel stopped in front of a door that sat at the very end of the media and communications hall, waiting for her to turn at the door.
“This is your office,” he told her with a grin before opening it with a key, handing it to her after he swung the door open and turned on the light.
The office was quite decent, sure. The L-shaped desk took up a quarter of the space, then at the back were empty shelves. A couch sat right in front of the big desk and beside it was a small table with F1 related magazines.
She could definitely do so much with this office. She wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity to decorate her office— one that she would occupy should she have time away from the runway.
Her phone was the best friend she had that day. She’d been scrolling through Twitter, thinking about her first task to follow. She wasn’t told what to do just yet.
A knock interrupted her thoughts and a murmur of ‘come in’ slipped out of her mouth, her bright eyes peering up to see Max Verstappen enter her office with questions written all over his face.
She hated to admit it, but Max looked handsome that day— no matter how much she hated seeing him in his white shirt and skinny jeans— and those running shoes. So fucking atrocious, his outfit was.
“You’d think that being a professional racer would help you afford nicer clothes,” Sylvie’s voice echoed in the office, making him scowl in confusion as she continued, “even Adam Sandler can get away with his basketball shorts.” The silence in the room went away as she chuckled humourlessly. Max only laughed quietly with a shake of his head.
“My favourite fashion critique,” he huffed, “oh have I missed you.”
“You need better habits,” she replied, “like dressing nicely. Otherwise I wouldn’t be handing your own ass back to you for looking so horrendous.”
“Where’s the fun in that?” He teased as he walked towards her desk. “I wouldn’t see the Wild Blue Mustang in her prime, otherwise. I got to make some sacrifices, you know?”
She watched him as he placed something on her desk, making her lean over. He stood there patiently, watching as she examined the stuff on her table.
A box of a mini orange Cadillac figure sat on her desk and a framed picture of them as five year olds. Alongside that would be plaques to place in her door and on her desk.
“Sylvie Edson Ford Hearth
Community Outreach and Public Relations Coordinator”
The Red Bull Racing logo was engraved on the gold plaque next to her name. Talk about official.
“Thanks,” she said quietly before looking up at him, “did Christian make you act like his personal messenger instead of having someone else pass these to me?”
“Nope,” he shook his head, beaming in happiness as he said, “I wanted to give the plaques myself.”
“And why do I have a toy Cadillac? I don’t recall Red Bull making a Cadillac.”
“This is your first office move-in day ever,” he shrugged nonchalantly, “I’d hate to not be a part of it. You’ve got an adult job now. I missed a couple of your achievements. So… yeah, I got you a Cadillac. Me.”
“You need to stop weaseling your way into the little stuff, Verstappen,” she sassed. “It’s unbecoming.”
“Never,” he cheekily smiled, “besides, it’s easier for me to barge into your life now. Your office is right here! And we work together, too. Talk about advantages.”
Sylvie sighed heavily, rubbing her temples before looking up at Max. “Don’t you have other people to annoy?”
“You’re my top one,” Max laughed heartily, “but I’ll go. I wanted to welcome you to Red Bull. Officially. That’s why I’m here. I’m going to go to my meeting with Christian. So— bye!”
Hearing the door slam shut, she leaned back against her chair. She thought that the worst case scenario of today was that she could have cried in the middle of Horner’s office. Then she pondered what just happened, and decided that her nightmare had something to do with liking Max, one way or another.
She really didn’t like it when her demons won and continued to gravitate towards him. She wanted to continue to despise his own being, but loathing could only do so much.

Ellie Headcanons!
Tumblr media
I love she. I've been thinking about her a lot lately so I've decided to share some HCs. Both recent ones and ones I've been kicking around in the past.
Her full name is Elinor Madison Hayden.
She grew up on a farm, as I stated before. Her father is the farm's owner, while her mother is an animal carer. Ellie grew up among nature and animals and thus has a strong admiration for them, just like Gabby. Her family in general is utterly chaotic, but they love her and she loves them just as much.
Her mother named her for the titular character of Elinor Wonders Why - a show Ellie grew a strong love for growing up. Bluey is also a family favorite.
Her favorite food is pumpkin pie, especially when baked by her uncle.
She owns a lot of stuffed animals. Not quite as many as her girlfriend but still a respectable amount. Especially bunnies!
She's a very big pop-punk fan. Some of her favorite artists include Boys Like Girls, The Maine, Dashboard Confessional, Yellowcard and All-American Rejects. Her all-time favorite song is, as I mentioned before, "Only One" by Yellowcard. She's also someone who regularly listens to different pop-punk albums every day and thus she's had a lot of wonderful experiences hearing new songs and bands. In particular, "A Twist in My Story" by Secondhand Serenade is one album that had her in tears.
She happens to be an amazing singer, too. (wishing so bad we could have a DC musical season)
Though, she's not particularly a great dancer...she often needs Gabby to help her out lol. But with Gabby's guidance, the girlfriends have shared some amazing slow dances in nature.
Autumn and spring are her favorite seasons. Autumn for the general coziness, warm lattes, orange leaves and happy vibes. Spring because she loves when it starts to warm up again after winter, and also she loves the smell of spring flowers so much. Getting to know Gabby has her loving spring even more - seeing Gabby's energy whenever spring starts is always adorable to her!
I've already mentioned that Ellie's favorite flowers are peonies and lavender (if you count that as a flower lol) but she also loves roses, gardenias, lilies of the valley, hyacinths just like Gabby, jasmine and lilacs. ...Okay she loves most flowers lol. In general, flowers have always been something Ellie has loved. Whenever her jobs were stressing her out, Ellie finds some time to spend admiring flowers, and it calms her down. Gabby has taken notice of her girlfriend's love of flowers and thus uses floral-scented products to wash both herself and the girls' belongings, and Ellie finds it so utterly heavenly.
Ellie's interest in fashion sprouted when she caught some My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic on television as a young girl and really admired Rarity's eye for fashion. Her father also has an old friend who is in fashion school.
At school, Ellie made a couple friends, but was also picked on a lot for her looks and being too much of a "girly girl" for her fashion interest and love of flowers.
Ellie realized she was bisexual not long after joining high school, where she started crushing on two different people - a quarterback boy, and a girl on the soccer team. Her family accepted her the very nanosecond she confessed.
She ended up asking both suitors out, but neither went all that well. While the quarterback let her down gently, the soccer player rejected her pretty brutally, pushing her onto the crowd and calling her nasty names. Ellie didn't ask anyone out again for a while after that. Falling deeply for Gabby truly changed her life.
In spite of her enjoyment of fashion and beauty stuff, Ellie generally doesn't use make-up. It's not her style...and she's pretty allergic to lots of make-up products anyway.
She gives AMAZING hugs. (Might as well be canon)
Her dad has an old Gamecube which Ellie plays a ton, often with Gabby and a couple of their other friends outside DC. Her favorite game for the system is Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. You can bet she turned into a squealing little ball of joy when the remake is announced, and now she has a Switch on pre-order!
As a kid she made friends with one of the pigs on her family farm, a girl named Amelia, and spent time every day going to see her and play with her. She loved that pig dearly. Sadly, Amelia ended up passing away not long after she returned from season 1, devastating Ellie. Luckily she did have Gabby as her shoulder to cry on in those tough times.
In general, being with Gabby has helped brighten Ellie up considerably in her daily life. Sure she's pretty cutthroat when it comes to high-stakes reality TV shows like Disventure Camp, but when she's not in a competition, she's a sweet and tender soul. Her family in general is grateful to Gabby for bringing so much happiness out of their little girl. 💖
I've probably forgotten some but whatever, these are just a few of the ones I have.
Yet again I depict Ellie as a soft cinnamon roll I need professional help

Tumblr media
''Should've figured that you'd go back to New York Don't consider me when you run back to her"
Sung Hanbin was the perfect boyfriend for you, he was everything you'd want for a partner. He was caring, loving, respectful, kind, affectionate, he was perfect. almost. He became distant from you the past few weeks, you always wondered why. You tried to ask him why he was becoming more and more distant from you but he always said he was just stressed and busy. You knew he was lying, whenever he and problems, he would always open up to you about it. On the earlier stages of your relationship with him, he told you about his ex in New York, the same place he'd be going back to for her. You should've figured that he'd go back there anyways, your relationship has been going downhill ever since he became more and more distant from you. You knew you were just a distraction from her when Hanbin broke up with his ex, a distraction from all the pain he felt when she left him.
"You don't have to hide it, I know why you went Said you needed space, I know better than that"
He tried his best to hide the real reason he went back to New York, for her. He reasoned that he needed space for a while for his departure but you both knew it was a lie. You knew the actual reason of his leaving, he was like an open book that you read very well. He thought you were oblivious to his actions, but of course you knew better than that. You knew he lost his feelings for you, you knew he never truly loved you in the first place. His heart still belonged to her, the woman he first loved and still loved. He didn't care that you were a distraction for his aching heart, he waited and waited for her to come back. I guess she did so after all, huh.
"Could've fought for you but I just let you leave Hurt too much to consider you didn't love me''
You had a choice of trying to let him stay, but you just let him go. It would've been a failed attempt anyways, he never actually loved you. It broke your heart to think that he maybe never for once thought about you for you. He just thought about you as her. You wonder if you looked or acted the same way as she did, you would've been correct after all, right? You stayed speechless the time he waved goodbye at you, it gave you a glimpse of hope that he would come back, but deep in your heart you knew it would never happen. You wanted you to say something, but you stayed with your gut that said to just be quiet for the sake of it. You didn't want to ruin this moment for him just for you.
''I imagine you holding her in your arms Laughing 'bout how I thought that you were the one"
You tried your best to think positive and stay happy without Hanbin, but your mind said no. You imagined him holding her in his arms, laughing about how oblivious you were to Hanbin's plans. You thought how crazy it was for you to fall for his tricks. I mean, who wouldn't? He was charming in every single way possible, who wouldn't be able to resist his charms? Your mind clouded with all the thoughts of Hanbin and his ex living their best lives, especially Hanbin, he got to live his life without you, you were like an old t-shirt that was thrown away because it didn't fit the its owner anymore. You didn't blame him for that, you always thought she was better even if you didn't know what she was like. She should've been better than you for Hanbin to go back to her, right?
''Left me and the ocean for your old flame Holding back my tears, I couldn't make you stay''
Beach dates were Hanbin's favorites, or were it her favorites? Did he force himself to go on beach dates with you because they reminded them of her? You loved going on those beach dates as well, it made you feel as if you and Hanbin were the only people there, it made you feel...free. You tried your best to hold back your tears that were already on the verge of escaping as Hanbin went on the plane. You saw a glimpse of his face that somewhat looked...sad? You didn't care much though, all that was on your mind was the person you loved most in life just left, but he needed space from you, didn't he? You couldn't make him stay, you wanted to but you didn't have the courage to do so. Maybe it was the fact that maybe your were the problem in the relationship? Maybe it was actually you?
"Can't quit this, so damn wicked to leave California and Me"
It was so cruel, so damn wicked for him to leave you behind. He didn't even explain why he was so distant from you, but you didn't need it though, right? He left for her. The person he loved most with you being the next. You met Hanbin in California, in which your relationship with him bloomed more and more, but all flowers have to wilt in the end, California was the same place he left you. Who knew that your relationship with him would start and end at the same place? A part of you despised him for his cruelness, the other part knew he needed this and stayed hopeful that the negative things you thought about would never happen. I guess you were right after all, weren't you?

I really miss SLG and Riley B🥲
Hey, Nonny! I’m missing SGL and Riley B. as well. (Is that a good enough answer? 😊)
This story (that I’ve been bouncing around for a little bit now) is going to show us a softer, more vulnerable side of arguably the coolest, cockiest, and most confident of my Liams. We’re going back to the past, when Penelope breaks up with SGL … which happens to be the same day he receives his promotion to junior partner.
The flashback of their breakup is from Aftermath of a Breakup, Chapter 2: Bad Idea #5
We’re going to explore his heartbreak, he’s going to tell us the plans he had for him and Pen, get advice from his mom and friends, and find out just why Riley B. is his very best friend. Song lyrics are from the song inspiration and all rights belong to its respective owner(s).
THANK YOU to all who read this over, and THANK YOU to all who will read this. Your feedback, comments, likes, and reblogs are appreciated more than you know.
Please excuse any typos, missing/extraneous words, and/or grammatical errors. MS Editor rates this story as 98% error-free.
All characters belong to Pixelberry.
Word Count: over 5,400 (hopefully it keeps you entertained)
Song inspiration: I Exist I Exist I Exist, Flatstone
By the time he arrived home, it was 10pm; he carried a bottle of champagne underneath his arm as he walked through the door of his apartment. He smiled when he saw Penelope sitting on the couch. His eyes took her in.
She was flipping through a magazine, her dark hair pulled back in a ponytail. She was sucking the tip of her index finger, a sign she was concentrating. Her head looked up at hearing the door shut.  Penelope gave a small smile upon seeing Liam; the smile didn’t reach her eyes. Liam didn’t notice as he set the champagne on the kitchen island and shrugged out of his jacket.
“I’m glad you were able to meet me. I wanted to tell you the news earlier, but work was hectic and then there was an after-work event.”
“I wanted to talk to you as well.” Penelope’s voice was soft and regretful.
Hearing the emotion in her voice, Liam turned to face his girlfriend. “Are you okay, babe?”
He joined her on the sofa, his eyes searching her face. The water in her eyes, the trembling of her lip, the quivering of her chin. The way her hands twisted in her lap. And he knew……
“Why?” His voice was low. Why do you want to leave me? Why now? Why today?
“We haven’t really been a couple in a long, long time Liam. We rarely go out anymore, we don’t talk….name the last time we had sex.”
“I’ve been working … trying to secure a future for us! You knew I was going for junior partner; you knew it was going to require sacrifice. You said you were okay with it!” Liam stood, pacing around the living room.
Penelope’s eyes watched him move. “I have always wanted you to pursue your dreams! But I need someone to support me in mine as well.”
Liam whirled on her, his voice raising. “When have I not supported you and what you wanted to pursue? I helped pay for that design institute you wanted to attend. I was front row at every fashion show you modeled at when you were freelancing! I ran lines with you when you thought you wanted to be an actress.”
“You did, and I appreciate all of it! But that was before you decided to go for the promotion. Before I got this new job. I think I have found my true calling … animals. I am really happy and learning stuff and I can’t even tell you because you are always in meetings and depositions and work travel and I just … you just ...”
“I just what, Pen? What do I just?” Liam’s voice was a growl, his eyes were thin slits.
“I’ve been spending a lot of time with Kiara and her brother, and I think you and I need to see who we are and what we want without each other.”
Liam shook his head as he felt his heart slowly break. “Was this the plan all along? You get Kiara the job at the law firm, and she sets you up with her brother the doctor?”
“NO!” Penelope choked out a sob. “Even without Zeke in the picture, you and I have been breaking up for a while. When was the last time we did ANYTHING together? We just had a three-year anniversary. It fell on a SUNDAY, but we couldn’t celebrate it then because you were WORKING! We had to have lunch that you cut short to run back to the office! You haven’t noticed one thing about me in the past few months. I cut my hair! I’ve gained weight! I have a new coat!”
“I TOLD you when I decided to go for the promotion that it would mean I would be busy. That things would change, that I would make it up to you! I do the best I can, Pen. I text you all the time! I send flowers to your job! I may not notice things, but I think about you. All the time!”
“I need YOU. I need the time, the attention. You don’t have it to give anymore.” Penelope’s voice was shaky as he dabbed her eyes with a tissue.
Liam sat down heavily on the couch, hands clasped in front of him, head hanging down. His voice was a ragged whisper. “You should leave.”
“Liam….”
“Go, Penelope. Get whatever items you’ve left here and just leave.”
Penelope stood. “Liam, I’m not blaming you. Sometimes people just … drift apart.”
“We’re both at fault. I stopped paying attention and you never thought to tell me. Until tonight. By breaking up with me.”
Penelope was pulling on a pink wool coat with a faux fur collar. It was new; last winter she was wearing a purple pea coat.
“You…you said you had news?” Penelope’s voice was soft as she took a step towards Liam.
Liam shook his head. “It’s not important.”
Penelope halted her steps, nodding her head stiffly. “You can toss my toiletries.”
The door closed quietly behind her. Liam heard her footsteps on the stairs, echoing and clattering until they faded away.
He took a deep breath as he stared at the closed door, tears streaking his cheeks.
“I made junior partner today”, he whispered to the empty room.
Liam sat on his sofa, his eyes trained on the area rug beneath his coffee table; the colors blended and blurred as tears filled his eyes and ran down his cheeks. His body was wracked with a pain unlike any he had felt before, his brain crowded with questions and excuses.
All she had to do was be loyal and patient. One job. Was that so hard?
Obviously.
Maybe he should’ve made more time for her, prioritized her.
Going balls to the wall for junior partner to ensure they had a comfortable life together was prioritizing, right? It wasn’t as if she didn’t know what he was doing, what he was working towards.
Maybe it wasn’t her. Maybe it was him, lacking in some way.
His shoulders shook as his mouth wailed out deep, shaky sobs. What should have been one of the happiest nights of his life, a time to celebrate his biggest accomplishment to date … he was alone. He had woken up excited, nervous … HAPPY, dammit!
And look at him now.
When he was spent, he drew in a heavy breath and stood on shaky legs, making his way to the kitchen island to retrieve his phone. His lungs were tight, his eyes burned with fresh tears; his heart felt like ashes and his stomach was sour. He dug in his jacket pocket, his hand grasping his phone almost desperately. Easing onto one of the leather-topped stools, he stared at his home screen, wanting to dial Penelope.
Everything in Liam was telling him to call her. Call her back to the apartment. They could work this out.
Baby, please!
Impatiently, he brushed moisture from the corner of his eyes before dialing the only person who could make him feel better.
Or so he thought.
Eleanor
Eleanor Rys had just settled onto the chaise lounge in the bedroom she shared with her husband Constantine, a paper plate filled with a slice of cheesecake on her lap when her phone rang. She huffed out an expletive; her favorite Investigation Discovery Channel show had just started.
When she glanced at the caller ID, her expression quickly changed from annoyed to concerned.
“Liam?” she demanded when she answered on the third ring.
From his place in the bed, Constantine looked up; worry furrowed his brow. It was unlike their youngest son to call after 10pm. It was now 11:05pm.
“Omma,” Liam sobbed.
“Honey, what’s wrong? What happened and who did it happen to?” Eleanor’s voice was calm, but worst-case scenarios were running through her mind.
“Penelope dumped me. She broke up with me, omma.”
Eleanor rolled her eyes slightly as she shook her head at her husband, indicating their son was okay.
 “Thank God,” she muttered.
“Did you just THANK GOD for my heartbreak?” Liam demanded in a teary voice filled with angry incredulity.
Eleanor dug a plastic fork into the cheesecake. “I was actually thanking the Lord above that you and your brother are alive and uninjured, but I’m also not shedding any tears over that … girl. She wasn’t right for you, Liam.”
“I LOVE her!” Liam argued.
“Man’s rejection is God’s protection,” his mother countered, her eyes glued to the television screen.
“Where’s appa? I wanna speak to HIM!” Liam sulked.
“He don’t like her either. Now, get a good night’s sleep and when you’re ready, concentrate on finding yourself a woman. A good one. Maybe a dentist … they’re doctors, right?”
Liam hung up.
He sent out a group text telling the gang his new relationship status, then turned the phone off. He undressed as he walked down the hallway to his bedroom, hoping when he woke up this would’ve been a bad dream.
Baby please It's the way you speak Forming words so easily And I think of the way you think It keeps me from falling asleep In that grave I call a bed
Thomas
“You don’t look like the first person ever to make junior partner at the firm in just under three years,” Thomas Mendez observed as he escorted his protégé into the Executive Conference Room. “In fact, you look like hell.”
Despite Liam’s tailored beige suit, crisp white shirt, and bold burgundy tie; despite his perfectly styled hair; despite his clean-shaven jawline, and on point sock game … he looked exactly how he felt: like shit. Thanks to eyedrops, his eyes were no longer red from crying all night, but they were puffy and had dark circles beneath them. His mouth was downturned. His entire countenance screamed dejection.
“Penelope broke up with me last night,” Liam admitted as the two men passed through the doorway.
“WHAT? What the hell happened?” Thomas demanded as he guided Liam to a quiet corner.
“She says I ignored her, and we grew apart,” Liam shrugged, his voice cracking.
“You told her you got the partnership, right?” Thomas questioned, bewildered at the turn of events.
“I didn’t get a chance. She basically dumped me when I came through the door.”
Thomas’ eyes searched Liam’s face. “Are you going to be able to get through this? It’s going to be an all-day affair. Not only are you the first person in the firm’s 120-year history to make partner of any type in less than seven years, you’re also a person of color which makes it even more monumental. There’s going to be photographs, and interviews with the Communications Department for the monthly newsletter, The Harvard Review, and your alma maters.”
Liam nodded. “I’ll get through it.”
“And then I want you to go home for the rest of the week. Partner, junior or not, is different and I’m going to need your head in the game.”
Liam nodded again. “Thanks, Tom,” he said softly.
Thomas looked at Liam curiously. “What about your friend, Riley? I know you felt something for her.”
Liam shook his head. “She’s just a crush. Her and Drake are going strong and headed into year five of their relationship. We’ll never happen.”
Thomas nodded thoughtfully before leading Liam into the crowd gathered to mark the occasion.
Cameras captured Liam signing his offer letter, standing inside of his new office, sitting in the firm’s impressive library pretending to pore over a law book, shaking hands with senior and managing partners of the firm.
All he could think of was how Penelope should’ve been there with him.
Look at me, look at me, look at me, look at me, look at me, look at me, look at me, look at me
He spoke glibly and smiled easily to the journalists wanting to know the secret to his success and asking if he felt like a trailblazer. Liam was humble, thanking everyone from the janitor to cafeteria staff to his fellow competitors.
He wondered if Penelope were thinking of him.
I exist, I exist, I exist, I exist, I exist, I exist
Madeleine
Madeleine waved to Liam as he entered Belga Café, one of the hottest and most pretentious restaurants in DC. It was galley style: Narrow and cramped with a brick wall on one side, and a bar lining the other wall. She was seated at one of two tables facing the lone window at the rear of the eatery.
Liam gave her a wan smile as he sank into his seat; he frowned. The chairs were metal with hard, wooden seats. It was not comfortable. “Hey, Mads”.
“Hi. Thanks for meeting me.”
Liam nodded noncommittally.
No one knew about the race for junior partnership except Penelope, and that was only because she had to know. His parents, none of his friends, not even Riley B. knew. Liam hadn’t wanted to jinx himself; he also didn’t want to face their disappointment if he hadn’t succeeded.
“I’ve been burning the midnight oil at work and decided to take a few days off.”
The restaurant was crowded and noisy, the lunch crowd filled with Marines from the nearby barracks and Navy Yard workers. He picked up a menu, his nose wrinkling at the offerings: quail eggs, foie gras doughnuts, baguettes with lard.
“Look, Madeleine … I appreciate the gesture, but I don’t need your pity. I don’t need cheering up. It’s … it’s too soon.  I don’t want to talk about it, and I’m not ready for any of this.”
Madeleine looked up from her menu, her green eyes puzzled. “I’m not here to cheer you up. Frankly, I have no idea what to say to you except you’re going to have to go through this … get through this all by yourself.”
“Then why did you invite me for lunch?”
Madeleine sipped lemon water.  When she spoke, her voice was low, almost sad. “I’ve been through heartbreak. Sometimes, you just need someone to sit with you.”
“We could’ve done that at my place!”
“You don’t have duck and quail eggs.”
“And I never will! That shit’s gross!”
“Good. More money in my pocket. Uber home on you.”
So shut your mouth 'Cause these words will speak themselves
Drake
“How ya doin’, buddy?” Drake’s tone was sympathetic.
“Tired of showering and putting on clothes to come out to restaurants and not eat,” Liam grumbled as he blew over his coffee mug. “I’m supposed to be taking time off to get my shit together, not getting up at the asscrack of dawn.”
He and Drake were at Florida Avenue Grill, meeting for breakfast. It wasn’t crowded, but also not quiet. Waitresses and cooks talked loudly amongst themselves, clinks of spoons and forks against porcelain were a constant refrain, and the busy morning traffic rumbled over pot-holed asphalt.
“Tell me how you really feel,” Drake replied dryly.
Liam fell silent as he placed the cup on the table; his gaze met Drake’s. “Really?”
Drake nodded, his expression somber.
“THREE YEARS, Drake! Three motherfucking years, and she just … leaves me! Right when things had fallen into place!” His voice choked up. “I feel … raw.”
“That’s a lot of investment: time, money, energy. Did you love her? Because you know … it was Penelope.”
“I loved her enough to propose. I was going to take her ring shopping this weekend.”
Drake blinked. This was news. He wondered if Brooks knew.
“I didn’t get any sleep last night. I was up all night, stalking her social media trying to see who this guy is who’s obviously better than me.”
Drake blinked again. This was bad.
The waitress brought their meals: Buttered toast for Liam; steak, eggs, and hotcakes with extra butter and syrup for Drake.
Drake spoke as sliced into his steak. “First, love and relationships aren’t a competition; who is for you will find their way to you. No one is better than anyone else, they’re just better suited for certain people. Second, stalking is never a good idea. You’re just hurting yourself with that shit.”
“I need to know Drake! She owes me that!”
“She doesn’t owe you shit. As ditzy and ridiculous as that woman is, this decision was for her, not because of you.”
“Maybe if I had told her …” Liam mused sadly, his eyes gazing out one of the dirty windows.
“Then she would have dumped you sooner,” Drake stated matter-of-factly.
“Fuck you,” Liam seethed. “You aren’t making me feel any better, Drake!”
“I’m not here to make you feel better, Li. I don’t have a magic wand that’s going to make everything hunky dory. What I am here for is to remind you that you’ve given a woman undeserving of all you offer too much of your time and energy. Don’t give her anymore.”
Liam shook his head resignedly as he picked up his coffee. Drake didn’t understand. Liam may not have loved Penelope in a conventional way, but he did love her. He had dedicated himself to her; he didn’t take that lightly. He had planned his future with her in mind.
What the hell was he supposed to do now? And with who?
I wake up in the hallway, I'm looking for sunlight With rays that will cure me of the pain that keeps my lungs tight
Leo
“Prostitutes!” Leo exclaimed loudly in his brother’s ear.
Liam choked on his scotch. “What the FUCK are you talking about?”
The siblings were at DC Chophouse and Brewery for happy hour; the establishment was more crowded than usual, possibly due to an event at the Capital One Arena, less than two blocks away.
Leo thirstily swallowed his Belgian Pale craft beer. “Look, everyone knows the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else. You need a ho!”
Liam glared at his brother. “I do not need to get under someone, and I definitely do not need a prostitute. Physical interaction is not going to heal the hole where my heart used to be.”
Leo was undeterred. “Look, your problem is you have never been dumped before, so I kinda get it. But look at it this way: You LIKE spending money on chicks. At least with a ho, you’re helping to support small business.”
Liam closed his eyes briefly as he processed his brother’s words. It was true, Liam had never been dumped and had never dumped anyone. Relationships were important to him, and until Penelope, when things weren’t going well, he and his partner talked things over. Partings were always amicable and never unexpected.
He just couldn’t figure out where he went wrong with Penelope. He had been open with her about the partnership and what it would involve. He sent her texts three times a day, every day. He sent flowers. He mailed her sappy greeting cards. He reassured her constantly that what he was doing was for them.
And still she left him. At the worst possible time and on the worst day.
“Why are you so ridiculous? I am HURTING here, Leo!”
Leo signaled the bartender for another beer. “Have you reached out to her?”
Liam rubbed the pads of his fingertips over his burning eyes. “Maybe.”
Leo rolled his eyes. “Jesus! How many times?”
“She blocked my number and made all her social media private.”
“That many times, huh?”
Liam nodded morosely.
Leo laid his palm on Liam’s shoulder. “Dude, when they come to you to break if off, when they ghost you … they’ve already left. She just did you a courtesy telling you that it was over. She’s not coming back, and you aren’t going to get the answers you want. She’s … gone.”
Liam felt the constriction in his throat and the tears burning his eyes and felt embarrassed that he was breaking down in a fucking bar. In public.
“But I did everything RIGHT! Why didn’t she stay?” he sobbed.
“Find yourself a ho. Yeah, she’ll fuck other guys, but if you’re a good enough tipper, she won’t leave your ass. Just don’t marry her … they make terrible housewives.”
I haven't stopped crying My father's been drinking I need a place to stay I don't want to be here
Maxwell and Olivia
“You look like shit, dude,” Olivia observed as she let Liam into the apartment.
“Good to see you too, Liv,” Liam replied sarcastically.
“No, really … you don’t look so great,” Maxwell reiterated as he pressed a tumbler of ice water into Liam’s hand.
Liam didn’t need to hear it. He knew. He saw himself everyfuckingday in the mirror. He had lost some weight due to not eating. His face was haggard from lack of sleep and constant worrying and wondering. His nerves were frayed. He was a broken raft adrift in a sea of emotions and insecurity.
He flopped onto the couch. “I have to say, I’m surprised to see the two of you together. I’ve been seeing everyone one-on-one this week.”
“We’re bogo. You get one, you get the other one,” Liv explained as she curled up on of the floor cushions.
Maxwell joined her, his body fitting into hers easily, smoothly. Liam felt a frisson of jealousy at the pair. At their oneness, at their love. They weren’t incomplete.
“We aren’t going to ask how you’re doing; it’s evident things are not going well. What we are going to do is tell you that you are surrounding yourself with all this toxic negativity for potential. Wasted potential!”
“How high are you, Liv? What the hell are you blabbering about?” Liam asked in a surly, clipped tone; his eyes glared daggers at Olivia.
“She’s saying that Penelope never brought anything to the table, Liam. Not one goddamn thing! She couldn’t hold a job, she had no financial savvy, no social skills. She had absolutely nothing to offer you. And you both confused a literal bed for the proverbial table,” Maxwell explained.
“Let her be this other dude’s problem now.” Olivia pointed her index finger at Liam, jabbing air with each word she spoke. “YOU.DESERVE.BETTER!”
“PEN WAS ALL I HAD!! Riley B. is head over heels with Drake … EVERYONE was paired up BUT ME! I was lonely, I wanted to be in love, wanted to be loved! PEN loved me! I had plans for us, a future with her! I KNOW she wasn’t perfect, I KNOW she wasn’t my first choice … but she WAS my choice!” Liam raged.
“And now ALL OF YOU want to make me look and feel FUCKING RIDICULOUS for grieving my loss!”
With wide eyes, Olivia shrank away from Liam’s thunderous yelling while Maxwell angled his body protectively in front of hers. Liam’s head fell backwards, hitting the sofa back with a slight thud while he exhaled deep, shaky breaths.
“Okay, you’re definitely homicidal,” Maxwell began in a conciliatory tone. “But I have to ask … are you thinking of self-harm?”
“I don’t want to be here anymore,” Liam replied dully as his eyes stared at the ceiling.
“Here, like with us or here, like planet earth?” Maxwell asked, his tone neutral.
“Whichever one stops the pain.”
Maxwell scrambled up from the pillow; standing on his knees, he wrapped his arms tightly around Liam’s waist. “Not happening, buddy. You’re staying here, with us. The pain will stop when it’s supposed to.”
“It just hurts so bad, Max. So bad.”
No, these demons will fall You're so precious to us all
Riley B
Two things roused Liam from his fitful slumber on Friday morning: the heavy rain washing over the nation’s capital, and the smell of food cooking. He sat up, somewhat disoriented; he squinted at the clock. 11am. But his bedroom looked like 6am.
The food: he smelled sausage and heard the sizzle of something frying. He swung his legs over the side of the bed, certain that it was Leo in his kitchen. Passing his bedroom door and seeing it had been closed at some point confirmed his thought. Liam slept with his bedroom door open.
He knew it wasn’t Penelope; he hadn’t given her a key to the apartment. He was supposed to offer her one this weekend, along with the ring.
Until she dumped him.
Riley B. had one, but he hadn’t heard from her since sending the group text.
He continued into the bathroom, deciding to put on his pajama bottoms. It was a nod to acknowledging he had company. And that was going to be the extent of his hygiene routine today. He had spent the majority of his time off driving himself crazy and being misunderstood by those closest to him.
He had three days left to pull his shit together; he wanted to spend them alone.
Shoving his white-socked feet inside of his house slippers, he pulled the bedroom door open, making his way down the hallway. “Leo, I don’t need a ho and I’m not hungry.”
He abruptly stopped in his tracks at seeing Riley B. at the kitchen island, whipping some eggs in a bowl. She was gazing at him, a smile on her fuchsia-colored lips.
God, she was beautiful.
“Sorry, not Leo and not a ho, although I have some exes who would beg to differ,” she joked. “And for sure not angry if you don’t want any of my food.”
“What … what … why are you here?” Liam stammered.
Riley was in the refrigerator, looking for butter. “Well, there was a group text and no word from you after that. I am your best friend, so I’m doing my duty and checking in on you.” She glanced over at Liam. “Quite sure you aren’t in the mood to leave the house. Wallowing is strong at the beginning of grief.”
“You don’t have to be here. I’ll be okay.”
Riley stared critically at Liam before resuming her search. “I think I do. There’s a hella difference between I’ll be and I am, and right now, you’re neither.”
“How do you know?” Liam asked curiously as he made his way to the island.
“It hasn’t been a full week yet. You’re probably just now hitting your stride with the stalking and borderline harassment.”
Liam was at the stove, flipping breakfast potatoes. “You’re gonna let the potatoes burn!”
“What do you care? You aren’t hungry.” A yell of frustration. “Liam, where the hell is your butter?”
“I haven’t been grocery shopping.”
Riley shut the refrigerator door. “Fair.”
Before she could speak again, Liam’s stomach growled. Loudly. Liam flushed with embarrassment while Riley laughed. “Your mind is telling me no, but your body’s saying yes.”
Liam shrugged sheepishly. “I might be a little hungry.”
“I’m glad,” Riley said softly as he hugged him from behind.
It's a shame that we're not soul mates 'Cause if I didn't know better I'd say this feels pretty good
“I’ll finish cooking if you’ll make coffee,” Liam offered.
Why, he wasn’t sure. He wanted to be alone, he wanted to process. But Riley B. was here, smelling of roses and vanilla, looking amazing in soft green leggings and matching tank top and headband wig with the riotous brown curls.
He didn’t feel foolish or ridiculous or idiotic for being heartbroken.
She wasn’t trash-talking Penelope.
She wasn’t telling him how he deserved better, and that Pen had done him a favor.
Riley B. was just letting him be.
“I’m glad you took some time off.”
“Thomas made me.”
“Best.boss.ever! You’ve been working really hard the past few months.”
Liam simply nodded. He still didn’t want to tell anyone about the promotion. Penelope was going to be the first person he told. It had been for her.
Once their food was plated, Riley turned on the wall-mounted television in the living room. She settled on Paternity Court.
Liam groaned. “Are you really gonna watch that?”
“You got a better idea?”
“Matlock!”
Without a word, she changed the channel. When she dug into her plate, she noticed that Liam’s portions were nearly gone. She didn’t say anything.  When they finished breakfast, Liam having two plates to her one, she loaded the dishwasher and settled on the sofa.
“Just let me know when you’re ready for me to leave.”
Liam shook his head. “Don’t go. Please.”
I can't do this alone I still need you to hold
Riley shrugged. “Okie doke.”
Liam sat next to her, a forlorn expression on his face as he stared at the TV.
“Hey, c’mere,” she said, her arms held out.
Liam scooted closer, letting her arms envelope him in a long, tight hug. He exhaled heavily against her neck, partly grief, partly hopeful desire. If only Riley B. realized how he felt about her. If only she weren’t Drake’s girl. If only Penelope hadn’t taken a part of him with her.
“Does it ever get better?” he asked, his stale breath tickling her cheek.
“It does,” Riley promised. “One day, you’re going to wake up and want to open the window blinds to let the sunshine in. You’re going to want to go outside and breathe. You’re going to rise from the sorrow and wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. You’re going to be happy again.”
They broke apart from the hug; Liam was crying again. Riley gently swiped at his tears before pressing a soft kiss to his damp cheek.
And how could I be scared? When I stretch and feel you're there
“WHY, Riley B.? Why did she leave me?”
“Because you were too much for her, Liam. It’s not that you were asking too much of her, but she had so little to offer. You’re a great catch for the person with hands big enough to hold you. Have you seen her hands? Teeny-tiny!”
Despite himself, Liam let out a chuckle, that immediately drifted away. “I was going to propose to her.”
Riley felt her heart stop for a brief moment; hurt flashed in her eyes but she covered it quickly.
“Why?”
“We had been together three years. It was time.”
“Do you love her?”
A pause. “Yes,” he answered hesitantly. “I grew to love her, and I wasn’t terribly unhappy. We had good times.”
“She punished you for working on your anniversary date by not being there for you when you were available. She doesn’t know your birthday or your favorite color, and she isn’t into Tom Brady.”
Liam’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “Don’t start! She saw me when no one else did!”
Riley nodded slowly. “Fair. But this is a time for self-reflection, for finding out what role you played in the heartbreak. It’s lesson-learning time and trust me on this: If you don’t learn the lesson, you’ll repeat it until you pass the test.”
Liam heard Riley’s words, but they made no sense. He didn’t play a role in this at all, unless you count him being a schmuck. It was a hilariously embarrassing cliché: unsuspecting partner slaving away at the job while the unfaithful girlfriend spends his money and runs around with another man.
Fresh waves of hurt and pain washed over him.
“Who did she leave you for?”
“Her best friend’s brother. His name is Zeke. He’s a vet … like animal doctor, not the military.”
Riley arched an eyebrow. “That all sounds very strange. And don’t get me started on that name.”
Liam didn’t add that Kiara, Penelope’s best friend, was to be his new paralegal. Thomas was trying to work with Donna in HR to get Kiara reassigned, but so far, no luck.
“I want to call her, but she blocked my number,” Liam said softly. “If we could just talk, ya know?”
“You can use my phone if you want,” Riley offered.
Liam stared at Riley, stupefied. “Are you serious?”
Riley nodded. “Just warning you, she either won’t answer, or she’ll hang up when she hears your voice. She’s done, Liam. She gave you what she had, which was goodbye. She won’t have an apology.”
“But maybe …”
Riley sighed as she rose to fetch her phone from her purse. Liam was going to have to learn the lesson the hard way. She tossed the device to him. “I’ll be in the bedroom to give you some privacy.”
Liam caught the phone and watched Riley walk down the hallway before dialing Pen’s number.
And I can't help but think You're my missing puzzle piece
Riley was spraying the bedsheets with Febreeze when she heard Liam curse a blue streak, then the unmistakable sound of a phone hitting the wall.
Hard.
“LIAM!” she hollered as she raced to the living room.
She found him on the sofa, tears flowing from his eyes, his hands balled into fists. Her heart broke at seeing Liam become a shell of himself, and Riley silently cursed Penelope.
Riley sat at the other end of the couch, her legs tucked under her. “Come on, Liam. Come here, darling,” she coaxed.
Liam kept shaking his head, refusing to move. That bitch had hung up on him. As soon as she heard his voice, she hung up and blocked the phone number. All he had done for her, all the chances he gave her … what did he do to deserve such treatment?
Riley continued to soothe and wheedle until he finally shifted position so his head lay in her lap. Riley crooned it’s okay over and over, her fingers combing through his hair.
“Riley B., “he croaked through his sobs as his hands curled around her pant-covered thighs.
“I’m here, Liam. I’ll always be here.”
So don't let go, don't let go, don't let go, don't let go, don't let go, don't let go 'Cause I'm afraid, I'm afraid, I'm afraid, I'm afraid, I'm afraid, I'm afraid, I'm afraid

Hoodie
A/N: Hello. I wrote this to be ambiguous on purpose. You can imagine whoever you want. I’m new to writing on tumblr. IDK if I’ll continue. Maybe this will get me back into writing. This is angsty and a bit sad. Also inspired by the song Hoodie by Hey Violet. I hope you like it.
He’d probably think that you were crazy. He’d have a point. You think you’re crazy. Standing in front of your closet staring at this one article of clothing. Every night for two months. This is ridiculous.
So, why can’t you stop?
You finally take the hoodie from the hanger, once again. The pastel blue color contradicting the pain you feel when touching it or looking at it. You slip the hoodie over your shoulders, covering your tank and pajama shorts. You shut the closet door turning toward your bed. The hoodie’s zipper was broken so you wrapped the two halves in front of yourself. You settled under your covers, curling into yourself. Letting the faint smell of the cologne from the hoodie fill your senses. With the scent, came the memories.
Meeting for the first time after accidentally bumping into each other on the street, belongings scattering on the ground. Frantically apologizing to each other and trying to help pick up everything and get it to the respective owner. Shy glances, accidental hand brushes, and pink-tinged cheeks.
The first date. Low-key dinner and movies at your place. The air between you both getting progressively less awkward as the hours passed. Barely paying any attention to what was happening on the tv screen as your attention was fully on each other. Talking about anything and everything as if you’ve known each other for years.
The nerves and excitement as your faces grew closer and your lips finally met for the first time. The butterflies erupting then and every time after. The same butterflies you got every time you touched or even looked at him.
You remember the first fight you had over something so insignificant that you can’t even remember what it was, but you remember the guilt and sadness that settled after as you sat on your bed. You remember thinking that he left only for him to show up in your doorway looking at you with the same guilt and sadness that you felt. You remember running into his open arms, both of you crying and apologizing.
Two years of memories run through your mind. You don’t know how long you lay there, silent tears streaming down your face and settling on your pillow.
And then the last memory.
It was your fault. You couldn’t handle it. Hardly getting to see each other because you didn’t want the media to find out. The anxiety that comes with constantly worrying that one day, the world would know and the hate would come. The couple times when you were accidentally in the background of a picture next to him and the fans started to question who you were. The quick stab of fear you got when reading the criticism and death threats from the possessive fans. It may have been a very small portion, but it was enough to make you not want to leave your house for a week even though they had no idea who you were.
He was busy and always gone. You understood that, but that didn’t make anything any easier. You felt like the longer you were together, the farther you grew apart. It felt like when you did actually get to spend time together, it became awkward and you didn’t have much to say to each other. It felt like loving each other just wasn’t enough. So, you were selfish. You let him go, because you couldn’t handle it. You weren’t strong enough. You weren’t good enough.
You remember the confusion on his face as you started to explain everything you felt that morphed into growing panic as he realized what you were going to do. You remember the tears on both of your faces as he tried to change your mind. The resignation and understanding on his face when he finally realized that you had already made it up. You remember his arms holding you tightly for the last time. The broken whisper of “I’ll always love you,” in your ear. You remember how numb and cold you felt as he grabbed his jacket and left your house for the last time. Your eyes found the hoodie he left on your couch and you clutched it to your chest as you sobbed until you were so exhausted that you fell asleep right there on the floor in front of your couch.
Two months later, you still love him. You don’t think you’ll ever not love him. You can only hope that the pain will eventually go away. You hope that he’s doing better than you are. You were too much of a coward to answer any calls or texts from him or the other boys afterward. Eventually, they quit trying so hard. You still get a text from each of them at least once a week. You still haven’t read any of them or listened to the voicemails. You can’t. It’ll break the small amount of resolve you have left that keeps you from running back to him and begging for forgiveness that you knew he would give. It's hard enough to see their names in your notifications.
The sudden brightness from your phone that lays on the other side of the bed brings you back to reality. Your eyes immediately recognize his name on the screen and hug the hoodie tighter to your body and curl in on yourself further to keep your hands from reaching out for it.
If you just lay here in his hoodie, eventually, you will be okay.
Right?
