I had a thought...😈 Regency Everlark AU where Katniss and Peeta are the ones married and Gale is absolutely CONVINCED that she's unhappy. That he needs to save her or get her out of her marriage. He spends the night as a guest in their home and sneaks to her chambers in the night, hoping to convince her to run off with him. And, instead, he hears VERY CLEARLY how absolutely fine she is with her husband.

AU Where the Victors of the Hunger Games are not given a home in Victor’s Village or earnings for winning. But, are sent to the Capitol for a chance at a better life. Forced to leave their families and district behind. Victors in the Capitol must work to survive, those who make enough money, popular, and ‘well behaved’, are allowed to send a fraction of their earnings home.

Katniss has a talent that destines her for success. Her voice. More precious that gold and rubies to her listeners. While singing is sentimental to Katniss, often reminding her of her father, she has no other option. Prim and her mother would starve if they did not receive the money.

Peeta paints. His favorite pieces are of memories from District 12. His most popular pieces are of his games—which he is still traumatized and uses his talent as an outlet. The Capitol people eat this up and buy entire collections. He has tried to send money back to his family, but they adamantly refuse it.

In this AU: Peeta is older than Katniss by two years. Both from District 12. Peeta is not a popular victor, other than his looks and charisma, he won by coincidence in the final three. When two other tributes fought to the death. Katniss—on the other hand—was very popular. She was fierce, determined to win. Even if she couldn’t go back to Twelve, she had to find a way to ensure the survival of her mother and sister.

Katniss performs in operas and plays. Though she tried, she wasn’t made for acting. One night, Peeta obtains a ticket to the opera. Only to be mesmerized by the lead woman. He remembers her from school. How she could sing then too.

This came to me in the car, driving home, listening to Memory from Cats. LMAO.

Ha! This is the post. This pic spoke to me: A slightly drunk high school Katniss, who's dating Peeta but won't ever go to his house because his mom hates her and she doesn't want to cause him any trouble, gets tipsy with her girlfriends on a Friday night, and she's moaning about missing Peeta and they egg her on (Johanna) about going to see him and Madge (designated driver for the night) also encourages it and Katniss gets to see her man without ever setting foot in his house. I will add it to the list of growing drabbles I would like to write!

Surely someone must have written the Everlark Gilmore Girls AU right? Because like -

Prim's best friend Rue who Katniss also ends up mothering because that's who she is. Estranged mother Mrs Everdeen who Katniss felt abandoned by but adores Prim. Local fashion designer Cinna who took Katniss in when she first arrived. And then Prim’s father and Katniss’s teenage sweetheart Gale comes back around periodically wanting another chance but doesn’t realise they’ve changed too much to ever be together.

An Everlark Miss Congeniality AU where everyone in the FBI is like "what agent can we send into this mission at the beauty pageant?" and Agent Peeta says, "um, isn't it obvious Katniss is gorgeous and is the obvious fit for this assignment?" And at first she's like, "wtf? Shut up Peeta, I can't be in a beauty pageant!" And she thinks that he hates her for getting her put on this assignment, but he's just flustered by her because he thinks she's really smart and cool and pretty. Cinna gives her a makeover and Haymitch is her coach, who is a disgraced ex-pageant coach due to his alcoholism, but is smart and knows how to work the contest. Peeta is assigned to be her handler in the case and she realizes that she might have a teensy crush on him, which over the course of the fic turns into a deep deep need to kiss him senseless.

OKAY YES!! several people asked me in the tags but I wanted an ask to answer so thank you nonny ❤️

Anyway, here are my thoughts:

I started thinking about this because it's approaching Halloween season. I was like "would he be a werewolf? A vampire? A ghost?" And then I had my genius epiphany. NO. He would NOT be any of those things. You know what he is? He's a fucking Frankenstein. (Nobody better get on me about "Frankenstein is the scientist" I will BLOCK YOU)

The whole thing of Frankenstein is feeling rejected by your creator. Feeling unwanted. Feeling like a burden, a mistake, a stupid creature. Who feels like that? Our boy Peeta

To make up for people always ignoring/ forgetting he's disabled, I have decided to make him more disabled. So not only does he have a missing leg, but he also has severe chronic pain.

I think for the purposes of this story, he was created by Dr. Gaul. For no other reason than she seems like the type to do that tbh. But! At the time the story takes place, she is long dead, kind of like in Edward Scissorhands.

So Peeta sort of has free reign over this castle, but he was conditioned into submission for so long that he stays in his old habits, like sleeping in a closet in the basement.

Also because of how big he is, he was essentially trained to fear pain instead of retaliating. Otherwise, he definitely could have snapped Gaul in half and run away.

He did try to run away! And his leg was taken away as punishment.

Anyway, on to how he meets Katniss.

He can't stay in the castle forever, and so will venture out into the woods. He'll catch things like rats and eat them raw, since his food has long run out. He does feel bad about it though.

So one rainy day he's in the woods, and so is a beautiful young huntress. But she slips on some rocks and hits her head! (Or falls from a slippery tree, whichever you prefer) And he rescues her. Takes her back to the castle, tries to help her but doesn't really know how, so he just kind of sits there until she wakes up

And when she does. Well. Obviously she is very freaked out. Starts throwing things at this huge intimidating guy in a strange castle. But instead of fighting back, he gets upset and covers his head

So like, she soon realizes that this dude is incapable of hurting a fly. He's just very fucked up

But anyway, that's really all I have. Obviously they fall in love. She teaches him more things about the world. He quickly gets attached to her, feeling things he's never felt before. Then there's the question if his feelings are even real, if he's even real, etcetera.

They're just really sweet. And he's just a gentle giant. And I love it.

OKAY HEAR ME OUT NOW FOR A SECOND.

I’m literally obsessed with this pair at the moment and I don’t even know what’s going on between them. I didn’t even know who that man was… I still don’t have a clue

BUT I’m pretty confident that this could be easily turned into an Everlark AU.

Katniss is the singer, obviously because she can sing, and Peeta is the athlete because yes.

She doesn’t even like sport, but Prim does, and begs her to find someone that could make them go. Katniss is a famous singer so it doesn’t take much effort, but she really doesn’t want to go because she hates being stopped in public or being filmed when she isn’t aware of it. At the end she does go because she doesn’t want to hear Prim complain (and also because we need to make Katniss and Peeta meet).

I don’t really know what happens after a match, but Prim is obsessed with a specific player, and guess who it is? I think you guessed it right. Now they are being escorted out, but Prim asks Katniss to please make her meet him because he is her idol.

They meet him when he is leaving the locker room and well…

Peeta recognizes her, not just because she’s mad famous but because he is literally obsessed with her voice from the first moment he heard her debut song on the radio. He doesn’t know what to do, because he doesn’t want to appear like a creep but he is also staring at her like she is the most beautiful women in the world (he thinks that she is)

He would like to say something but he’s the same Peeta that didn’t say a word to her for eleven years or so in hunger games, so he just gives them a weird smile and an autograph on Prim’s shirt without saying anything.

For the rest you’ll have to wait for someone to actually write this :)

Everlark Borrower AU

Katniss and her family are borrowers who live in the Mellark bakery. After Katniss' father dies, she becomes the main provider for the family and venters into the bakery for food. Peeta sees her once but doesn't say anything least to run her off and leaves scraps of food around for her. Katniss thinks it's a trap and doesn't trust him until she's almost caught by Peeta's mom. Peeta distracts her, giving Katniss enough time to escape, but receives a beating for it. Katniss is confused why a human would go through so much trouble for her and decides to give him a chance.

Everlark au

Saw this on Instagram the other day and immediately thought of Peeta (of course), then read the article (gift link below) and now thinking about a friends to lovers Everlark AU.

Best friends, a few years post college, Peeta is a graphic designer and during Covid he started selling batches of his baked goods from his Instagram acct once or twice a month on weekends, and kept doing it b/c it's been successful and he'd missed baking (his parents' bakery closed down at some point during his teen years, so it's no longer in business)

Peeta has dated on and off post-college and just got out of a semi-serious relationship. Katniss is terrified the next one will be "the one" and she'll lose their close friendship.

She's in love with him but doesn't think she's good enough for him, or that he'd ever be interested in her like that.

She reads something similar to the article below and tells Peeta he should totally open his own bakery, given how successful his side baking business has been and makes a list of all the reasons it's the right time to open his own.

When he starts to consider it seriously, she goes all in, scouting and going to check out potential locations with him, volunteering to work for him (not sure what her job it, maybe she's in grad school), etc.

He's awestruck how much she believes in him and jumps at the chance to do this with her.

She realizes there's the added benefit that if they work together, it's a way she can stay in his life even once he finds a serious relationship.

Along the way from opening and then working together in the bakery, tons of mutual pining and of course neither thinks they have a chance for more with the other.

They eventually figure it out :)
