One time my ex and I talked about how the hellfire gala should have themes like the real thing. Like, imagine how a theme like celestial bodies would get reinterpreted by what the Marvel heroes know about space, filtered through each heroes individual themes and the format of high fashion.
Honestly hoping they incorporate themes eventually just so the artists have something to play around with
#ask#anon#im ngl tho#i do think they should have kept with their usual marvel timeline#5 years irl = 1 in comics year#and had the hellfire gala every 5 years irl#just so it doesnt feel so fast#and to make it more special#like a real big event

lol I committed to going to the Hellfire Gala without fully. figuring out what I'm going to wear
okay but. What if I.. gamble on this dress from Aliexpress:
since there's still time to order it and see. This one I think is fun while being party. There is a sort of mesh but maybe that should be fine, it's also going to be kind of a cosplay event I expect so I don't think it'll be like. glaringly whatever...
and then keep some of the other options I scoped out on, like, Poshmark as a backup plan
(other Aliexpress options I do still like include these:
tho I don't looove the mesh on the left one, and the right one is like "somehow, I like this?" lol. But I'm not ordering 3 dresses off aliexpress lmao, I gotta... decide on one.)
#*#after some thought I feel like the other off the shoulder ones are a bit plain for like. a party/cosplay event#this one still has the drama#it has a mesh piece instead of being truly off the shoulder but maybe that means it'd be more comfortable to wear lol#I think the other off the shoulder ones I looked at are a bit more like actual gala which is fine but like. I gotta keep in mind#that this is also going to be a sort of. cosplay/party event#hellfire shopping

(X-Men #24)
So this was always a really interesting scene to me. It's the last X-Men during the Krakoa era before everything goes to Hell. And honestly, I like this much better than their disagreement about the Brood.
(Surprise, I like the disagreement where my favorite is at least partially right versus the one where he's blatantly wrong.)
Tangentially, I really like the mention that Scott was directly involved in the creation of the Treehouse. I've mentioned it before, but there's this kind of never-directly-addressed thread of Scott just like building bases out of things. The Treehouse, the Summer House on the Moon, Utopia out of Asteroid M, the hideout in Weapons X, the refurbished Sentinel Facility that they're using now, arguably even the spaceship that Jean mentions him giving her in Phoenix.
Maybe that's the career that Scott should be looking into outside of the X-Men: architect. Or Interior Designer. I bet he'd be great, as long as you don't mind that your porches and balconies are also the most efficient height to be used as security turrets.
But anyway, there's a lot to think about here.
a) I think it's fascinating to see how differently Scott and Jean see Arakko. For her, it's an achievement to be proud of. For him, it's a mistake and a weapon for their adversaries.
But it's particularly interesting that the creation of Arakko happened during the first Hellfire Gala. We're leading into the third. I don't think that the Galas are happening in real time, and certainly in a few years, the rolling timeline won't allow them to be. But it's fascinating that for however long the span between Galas was, this is the first time Scott has ever actually talked about it.
Scott hasn't hesitated to be critical of Krakoan policies in the past. But he's kept his mouth shut and just...never went there. And that's a little mind-boggling in its own right when you think about it.
Scott loves space. He built their home ON THE MOON. Mars has now become the nexus point for Earth's diplomatic contact with the rest of the universe. His son is there a LOT.
And we know how he feels whenever Jean does anything particularly goddess-y. So it's a really interesting character beat that Scott has never been there. Especially since Scott being there or not being there would have no effect on whether or not Arakko can be used against them. You'd think he'd rather set up some strategic advantages in case the worst happens.
But then, it's interesting to think about how, as Krakoa continues onward, and the issues become more and more obvious, Scott's detached from all of it. The X-Men are based in New York. Not an island somewhere. Well. I mean, New York IS an island. But you know what I mean.
And I'm reminded of Scott's letter in Fall of House of X, where he reinforces that he IS an American citizen as well as a mutant. And how when it comes time to start the X-Men again after the fall, he bases them in his birthplace.
(Well, some of the events were unprecedented. But they didn't need to resettle the Sentinel Factory. They could have gone literally anywhere else as long as Illyana's still willing to teleport them.)
Scott responds to Krakoa by becoming more entrenched with humanity and Earth, and that's interesting.
b) Jean's side is interesting too. Because on one hand, Jean's articulating the more compassionate and emotional side. Love will find a way.
But at the same time, Jean's the one reinforcing the idea that they're different from humanity. She's the one saying that they've tried pretending to be the same as "them" for their entire lives and gotten nowhere.
And it's particularly interesting that she's articulating this idea while dealing with her perpetual rejection of her Phoenix side (something we won't see resolved until Krakoa's fall.)
To Jean, Arakko is an achievement, and she's understandably hurt that her husband doesn't seem inclined to share in that. (And we know he's not the kind of man who refuses to share in his wife's accomplishments.) But it's interesting that we've never seen JEAN on Arakko either. I assume she's been there since the creation, or she wouldn't be calling him out for never seeing it. But it's not a place that she seems to vibe with.
Though who knows what would have happened when they retired from the X-Men... Maybe they'd have settled in Magneto's old digs.
It would have been really interesting to see Scott and Jean dealing with the particular culture of Arakko. Jean, at least, has the requisite power level to be taken seriously. But her mindset is very different. She'd be respectful of course, but there's no real way that she'd be comfortable there.
And then there's Cyclops. Because he's definitely not an omega mutant as Krakoa defines it - he's a very decorative gun, basically. And he's no more an Arakkan in ideology than Jean is. But, rather like Storm, he's got the ability to assert himself and a morality that's more conventional than the people around him and get results. Though maybe it'd be a challenge better suited to Utopia-era Scott than Krakoa-era.
Missed opportunities maybe.
c) I kind of love how this issue leaves it open what Scott will decide. Of course, the beginning of the Hellfire Gala issue shows us that they apparently continued their conversation and Scott has agreed with her to leave the X-Men. There's no suspense about that decision.
I wonder if it would have worked. I'm guessing not for long, for either of them.

HC Spider Society has a huge formal event at the end of the year to close out all the missions (like when they take the averages of the year, register who went on how many missions, who did the most multiversal scientific research, etc)
And everyone gets all dressed up in beatiful formal attire but like
OVER their spider-suits
Like Pavi wearing traditional Indian attire OVER his already beautiful suit. He has his hair done up too
And everyone can bring a date, they get a free night pass to Neuva York. So you can bring your MJ or Harry or partner or whoever
And it's like Prom meets Hellfire Gala meets MET Gala
THEMES. Spider people dressed SUPER CAMP over their already silly Spider-suits. Miguel makes a speech thanking everyone for their hard work
And then it's just a night of Spider-people partying on the ceilings and walls going nuts and every time it goes so off the rails and SOMETHING always goes down
so much so that it's iconic at HQ and everyone is talking about it for months
The outfit you wear WILL be the talk of the town
IDK I just LOVE this.
Like imagine your Spidersona in their suit, but like... dressed to the nines over that. Dressing up ACCORDING TO THEIR SONA THEME. Getting a date and going to the Spider-Gala
I need this, this has to be a thing

Nova tries to arrest Magneto

The Guardians of the Galaxy have been invited to the first Hellfire Gala, but only Richard Rider and Star Lord are able to make it. As they pull into The Peak, Nova is feeling skittish and anxious about everything changing. Krakoa's moves in particular have shaken the galaxy.

Among other things, he finds himself allied with reformed bad guys and has that reflexive heroic urge to punch them. DOOM, Super Skrull - he doesn't like grinning and pretending he can trust these people. When he and Peter Quill are greeted by Ambassador Magneto, Nova leaves him hanging on a handshake (rude!) and declares he's going down.

Rich clearly has an amazing memory (it's Al Ewing, so duh) and huge cop energy. He brings up an ancient space crime (that was actually Melter but whatever) and charges him with it. Mister One and Mister Two weren't mutants, they were Shi'Ar Subguardians. I actually covered these events here. You can decide for yourself if Mags is guilty.

Mags doesn't respond very well to his ranting and raving. As Brand and Star Lord try to calm them down, hero and villain step into old familiar roles. For Magneto, that role involves dramatic violence - he flings a vehicle at him. Mags loves throwing vehicles around and he must be missing it. Honestly, I love Magneto throwing vehicles around. It's fucking great.

Nova punches that shit in half as they trade one liners. There's still an air of politeness as they break shit. It's almost flirting, though ASCAB.

Abigail Brand has had enough of this shit and calls for a security team. Peter isn't much help but it's probably the right choice. Nova breaks down why exactly he's the galaxy's top cop. The Nova Force.

Marvel usually avoids specificity with marking time - 'a dozen years' has many implications.
Well, the Nova Force and punches to the face. He knocked his helmet off! Mags starts to get serious, switching to Master of Magnetism mode, but this is Brand's station dammit. She tells Rich he's full of shit and just wanted someone to punch. A clear bad guy he could oppose to feel like a good guy. She's not wrong either.
Nova admits he was being a dick and Mags meets him there. They start to chat, though good luck getting Magneto to be respectful about the Avengers. He frames it as a question about the Guardians' beginnings, but Mags takes the opportunity to reminisce on times past.

Nova trying to arrest him for 70s shenanigans has Mags dwelling on them. He does it in the most verbose and dramatic way possible, but he's saying that the simpler days of black and white morality pull at him too. Al Ewing had his hands on Magneto for SWORD, X-Men Red, and Resurrection of Magneto so he nails his state of mind. The secret king that's starting to crack as every choice feels like a bad one. The traumatized and grieving man that doesn't have ultraviolence as an outlet anymore.
These two powerful men hover in the docking ring and agree that change is scary, that DOOM probably shouldn't be trusted, ha. It's a nice moment for both of them, and Rich has his own trauma/violence dynamic, but I'm mainly interested in Magneto. He was knee deep in nasty shit at this point, but he's a lot more self aware and restrained. Dick Rider ended up fighting on Arakko during Judgement Day and the Genesis War, interestingly. Curious that both men found something they were looking for in the broken land.

For the tiktok saga, has Eddie ever been invited to the Met Gala? And would he go? I feel like Steve might be more into it than Eddie, but maybe if there was a cool theme that year where he could wear something crazy? What do you think?
I definitely think that Steve would be more into it than Eddie, but not because Steve is more into fashion. He just likes to judge people.
One year Eddie’s manager tells him that he’s been invited to the Met Gala and asks if he wants to accept the invitation. Eddie, who only vague knows what the Met Gala is through Steve, is like, “Sure, why not?”
He mentions it to Steve a couple days later and says that he’ll try to get him a ticket if he wants. Steve is like, “…You do know those tickets are like, thirty-five thousand dollars, right?”
Eddie says, “…Excuse me?” and promptly finds out that they are nonrefundable too.
So, Eddie attends the Met Gala.
He specifically attends the 2018 Met Gala where the theme is Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination and definitely commits some kind of sin when he shows up as a literal crucifixion.
Specifically, his own.
The year previous, Hawkins High named their new music room after him and it has pissed him off ever since because Eddie was crucified by that town. They hunted him down with the intention of killing him and no one in that town ever said sorry.
So, Eddie showed up at one of the biggest events of the year wearing an exact replica of the outfit that he’d been wearing during Spring Break of ’86. His leather jacket was water damaged and his Hellfire t-shirt was shredded and torn like it’d survived an animal attack.
He paid a very talented practical effects artist to make his scars look like they had been torn open and were bleeding and then to up the Catholic Imagery and to piss off a few more people, he did the whole crown of thorns and holes in the hands.
He wrote ‘Fuck Hawkins’ around the holes.
He made the local news channel in Hawkins and Eddie was not invited back the next year. He was pleased.
#Gonna be real guys this one feels offensive but it also feels like it'd be something that Eddie would do#Also Eddie at an afterparty like 'wait my husband loves you. Facetime him.'#also also Eddie meets Rihanna and Steve pouts about it for days when he finds out#also also also fans spend weeks talking about the bandana in his back pocket and hanky code#eddie munson tiktok saga#Steve Harrington#Eddie Munson

Some costumes I'd like to see in Marvel Rivals
This isn't covering everyone just a few ideas I'd like to see
Venom: Ultimate

Venom is actually a character that I'm already happy with his base skin, Anti Venom alt color, and Space Knight option. But I think the Ultimate skin would be fun especially if you actually somehow textured it like the Ultimate Spider-Man game.
Storm: Hellfire Gala

Honestly Hellfire Gala seems like an even Rivals could do and just go all out giving everyone some Gala fits but for Storm I'd like it a lot just for that hair alone.
Squirrel Girl: US Avengers

US Avengers that could barely get off its feet before getting forced into event tie in hell then being taken out behind the shed and executed. Which is a shame cause it had fun art and designs, with me finding the Squirrel Girl one pretty cute. Also just like goggles.
Loki: Lady Loki

Think that a lot of people would find it fun to have a character you could gender switch on a whim with the costume system. Plus something unique this game could have.
Captain America: Classic

Honestly there is plenty of characters that would be cool to see with more classic outfits but Cap is one I definitely want to have that. Cause I've never really been big on the more power armor style outfits for cap and would like to have the classic shield as well.
Groot: Tales to Astonish

Speaking of classics this old school monster book throwback be a fun option to have in the game. Though it is legally required that all characters record a voice line saying "I defy you Groot!" That only plays if defeating a player with this skin.
Punisher: Angelic Frank

Both the look and the book it's from are terrible but I'd be impressed by the pure audacity if they did this.
Iron Fist: White and Gold

I'd also be down with this costume in green and yellow but either way I appreciate the more simple look and having an option with the full head cover. Can have it be explicitly Danny for this one or not but could be neat if had unique voice lines.
Black Panther: Earth's Mightiest Heroes

Getting cartoon rep is always good, and Earth's Mightiest Heroes has some great designs. Also if they add Wasp as a character the EMH look would be great too. Black Panther having a pretty great one that could have some cool design work done on it. But it needs the cape, I like when he has a cape.
Spider-Man: Unlimited

Last one I thought of right now and second cartoon rep is the Unlimited suit. Cause you got to be honest it was a pretty great alternate design for the wall crawler. Just keep the shadows as part of it cause it looks weird when just red and blue.

Suits him well too~ bet fashion designer reader would make it for him when she was given the opportunity to dress him for the hellfire gala and she is his date rocking a peice from John galliano dior 2005/2007 and in another event like the annual met gala for american theme shes invited while she made her own dress and steve is her date
DESIGNERS LOVE— steve rogers x fashion designer! reader
WARNINGS: none
The first time Steve saw the sketches, he paused, his brows furrowing as he took in the details.
The Hellfire Gala demanded extravagance, and she had delivered. The suit was deep navy, almost black, tailored to perfection with sharp, structured shoulders that gave him an air of regal authority. Intricate silver embroidery—reminiscent of constellations—stretched across the lapels and cuffs, a nod to his place as a legend. A long, flowing coat trailed behind him, reminiscent of a cape, but she had reassured him, “Not a cape, Steve. A statement.”
“You really think I can pull this off?” he asked, tilting the sketch toward her.
She smirked. “Steve, you could wear a paper bag and make it work. But this? This will have people talking for decades.”
And she was right.
The night of the Hellfire Gala, Steve Rogers wasn’t just a soldier or a hero. He was art.
He stood beside her, impossibly handsome in her design, every camera flash illuminating the brilliance of her work. But as breathtaking as he was, he knew she was the true masterpiece.
She wore a piece from John Galliano’s Dior era—a vision of structured decadence. The gown was an architectural marvel, draped in a way that made her look both ethereal and untouchable, as if she had walked straight from a dream. She was elegance and rebellion intertwined, and Steve—despite years of battle and war—felt wholly unprepared for the impact she had.
“You’re staring,” she teased as she took his arm, leading him inside.
Steve shook his head, a small smile on his lips. “I’m just wondering how I got lucky enough to be your date.”
She squeezed his arm, eyes glimmering. “You wore the suit, didn’t you?”
Months later, when she received her invitation to the Met Gala, she didn’t hesitate to take Steve as her date. The theme was American fashion, and if anyone embodied the very essence of that, it was him.
This time, she took the reins completely, designing not only her own dress but also his look.
For herself, she created something timeless yet innovative—a gown that paid homage to classic American design while showcasing her own signature craftsmanship. Every stitch was intentional, every curve of fabric a testament to her artistry.
For Steve, she honored his legacy without making him a caricature of Captain America. She crafted a suit inspired by 1940s menswear but refined for modernity—sleek, powerful, and subtly patriotic. The deep blue fabric had a slight sheen under the lights, the lapels structured like an officer’s jacket, and a vintage-inspired pin at his collar sealed the look.
“You didn’t put stars and stripes all over me,” Steve noted, turning in the mirror.
She laughed. “I respect you too much for that. Subtlety is an art, Rogers.”
And as they walked the Met Gala carpet, cameras flashing, the world couldn’t get enough of them.
She was a designer at the height of her power. He was a living legend draped in her genius. Together, they weren’t just a couple—they were a moment in fashion history.

The Krakoa Era Reading List Cherik Version (PART 2):
4. Reign of X
Another very long series, 14 volumes of content! Similar to Dawn of X Cherik is not the focus of this series plot. However I did like this one a lot more and it introduced some elements that I really loved. For a brief summary this series covers the events leading up to the Hellfire Gala and all factors that went into preparing for it (ft. a LOT of flexing from Magneto XD). It does also cover the Hellfire Gala itself, which was super fun.
To start with the things I loved about it, there were a lot of queer characters and couples in both major plotlines and casual representation. The Make More Mutants™ law of Krakoa always made me feel a little icked out, because of its heteronormative implications. I was surprised to see this sentiment confronted by some of the queer characters themselves:
Pretty soon after this sentiment is expressed, we are presented with several solutions to the issue of same-sex reproduction. One of which is that science is advanced enough on Krakoa to produce a child using both parents DNA regardless of their gender or genitals (or lack thereof):
Another solution presented was that there is a LOT of coupling happening on Krakoa producing babies whose parents aren't ready or willing to raise them. Like. Excessive amounts of babymaking. To the point where people have actually had to start giving out contraceptives to slow it down. These unwanted babies are left waiting to be adopted by mutants or mutant couples who want them:

MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW!!!!!
Speaking of baby-making. Reign of X reintroduces several of Charles and Magnetos children who as of yet had not been mentioned in the Krakoa era. Including Legion, Onslaught, and Wanda (who shows up and dies immediately under mysterious circumstances RIP). Legion's storyline is intertwined with Nightcrawler's while they explore the darker sides of Krakoan society. Nightcrawler is hilarious and adorable in this series btw. Initially Legion is suspected by Charles to be behind the alias of the "Patchwork Man" who has been terrorizing young mutants on Krakoa.

(a moment of appreciation for how scared Charles is of Legion XD)
However after Nightcrawler is sent by Charles to confront Legion we find that this is not the case, and that it is actually Onslaught who is terrorizing Krakoa and feeding off of conflict and negative emotions. For some reason Legion decides to keep this a secret from Magneto and Charles as he and Nightcrawler work to hunt Onslaught down and stop him.
Onslaught must also be kept a secret from the rest of Krakoa, since the psychically-produced hate baby of the nations founding fathers might cause some discourse XD
Also Legion introduces us to the concept of non-physical psychic intimacy (kinda like the psychic intimacy that produced onslaught 🤔🏳️🌈?) which can be used by mutants who are unable to touch their partners without harming them. This psychic bond is demonstrated between a lesbian couple.

There's just. So many fun concepts introduced in this series. Most of the stuff above was in the last 2-3 volumes so it wasn't a HUGE part of the story, but a part I very much enjoyed none the less. The confrontation between onslaught and his biological parents hasn't happened yet but I desperately hope that there is a decent payoff. If not I can write one ☺️
As for how much I can recommend this comic based on Cherik-ness, I'd say it's worth a read if not just for the fact that Erik and Charles children are important parts of the story. Charles and Erik themselves don't get much character or relationship development and are just kind of managing the goings of the island like normal.
You can see my part 1 to this series under the tag #krakoa era reading list

Quicksilver enwreathed in gladioli at the Hellfire Gala this year! Him not ever having a design for the event while both his sisters, his dad, and his nephews have is fucked up, so I decided it was HIS turn to serve cunt this year. Design inspired by Romani designer Juana Martin with the initial concept of "dark roots/past = beautiful bloom". I also specifically picked gladioli, or the "little sword" lily, for their meaning and to allude to his knighthood. I wanted to add a rapier with an ornate belt/sheath, but ran out of time ;;
