LOCATION: Coral Cove Beach, Music Festival, Day Three.

As the crowd dispersed following the last set of the evening, JJ finds himself heading to the bonfire on Coral Cove Beach. Though it was well into the early hours of the day at this point, his head is still buzzing with adrenaline, and he has had too much fun hanging out with all of his friends that weekend to let it all come to an end just yet. Perhaps a little unwinding was what he needed to replenish some of his energy, and return to the last day of the festival. But for now, he grins at all of the familiar faces he finds once he reaches the bonfire, and plops down on a folding chair on the sand. "Asha? Is that you?" His brows furrow upon seeing the younger woman sat next to him. "Are you doing alright?"

There is only one word that could possibly describe how JJ feels as he steps away from the crowd in search of some much-needed quiet: exhausted. After three endless days of partying, and enjoying the music festival, the fourth, and final day of the event finds him winding down in preparation for the work week ahead. While he still buzzing with adrenaline, the fatigue that he has ignored all weekend finally begins to set in, and he finds himself heading towards Oak Castle Harbour. JJ has many memories of sitting by the docks, some good ones, and others not so much. But for now, it happens to be the quietest place in the entire coast. Quiet, but not lonely. "Well, I'm older now, Bennie. I get tired very easily." JJ remarks in response to the other's words, and while it sounds like he might be joking, he is clearly not. "I'm starting to think that my partying days are over. I threw my pool party this weekend as my last hurrah, but I think it's about time that I just accepted my reality." He admits as he removes his shoes, and crouches down to sit next to her. "What are you doing this far from the crowd?"

Bennie couldn’t believe that it had only been two summers back home, enjoying the festival. Something like this was a stark reminder that the world keeps turning without you noticing, sometimes. Being in the thick of it was fun and everything, but sometimes it all felt like more of a distraction, than an experience. Dangling her feet over the dock, the tips of her toes barely grazing the water as it ebbed and flowed in the harbor, the sound of approaching footsteps stirred her from her reverie. “Well, I didn’t expect to see you this far from the crowd,” she teased in jest, though silently happy for the company.

Stepping out on to the balcony of the property that overlooked the beach, X isn't daunted by the erected stage he can see that he would be performing on later in the day with his band -- though there was some mild jitters about being on stage for the first time since his father's passing given how he hadn't been able to deliver his eulogy.

His need for air and a time out stemmed from needing five away from a specific bandmate, a smile dawning where a frown had been he realises the bandmate following him out was a different one.

"I'm good," He tells her before she can ask, Van's steady streak of worrying about him only amplifying with time since Houston rather than lessening, though he wouldn't hold it against her, "I can't hear anymore about his fucking lucky drumsticks. Tell him he's being ridiculous."

"Does that not seem like it's own form of torture?" Santiago remarks, thinking aloud rather than speaking to anyone specific as he observed the flying chairs do exactly what the name implied far up above his head.

"It's a good hustle," Bo observes, gesturing broadly to the carnival games that they were passing on their way to get a drink strong enough to made the tedium of the evening bearable. "You can rig those very easily so the player always loses. I would."

Despite his hangover, JJ listens rather intently when Aylin speaks of her grandmother. Since he himself had been extremely close with his grandmother when she was still alive, he could understand the kind of bond that she must have with hers. Betty-Jane Hayes had taught her grandson how to play the piano, just like Aylin's grandmother had taught her how to bake. "It seems to me like your grandma took really good care of you while you were in Turkey. You needed that, didn't you?" The thought causes a rather warm smile to take its place upon his lips once he takes another bite of his pastry, his brows furrowing upon hearing the words that followed. "Lacking?" JJ repeats the word before he shakes his head, reaching into the basket to grab himself another pastry. "What do you mean that you were lacking? I don't think there's anythig lacking in this." He points out, ripping out another piece of the pastry, and popping it in his mouth.

But since his hangover seems to be subsiding with each bite he took, he just accepts the fact that Aylin seems to know what she's doing. No need for him to intervene. "Hey, now... there's no need to for you to kiss my ass." He teases her when she refers to him as the best, though he knows that her words come from her heart. "There's no need for you to give back, or anything like that. I wasn't there for you because I was expecting you to do something for me in return. Besides, I was only doing my job... as a doctor, and as someone you trust." He points out with a shrug of his shoulders. "And how is your asthma these days? Are you keeping up with taking your inhaler?"

"hm? those?" aylin hums, looking to the pastry in his hand. "that would be grandma. when i went to stay with her in turkey, she taught me all sorts of things. i had the basics down but, i was lacking that extra something else, i think." which turned out to be the love, and the passion, and the motivation to make something wonderful in the end. she hadn't been her best self when she'd finally reached her grandmother's home, her heart broken and feeling entirely alone.

but that's what baking can do, she supposed. it made things better.

satisfied jj would be taking care of himself while she began to clean the odd dish here and there, aylin wonders just how often anyone offered him the same sort of mind he did others. not just within his job, but in his personal life too. perhaps it's a sign she should stop by more often, with permission next time, of course.

"only the best for the best, right? maybe it's about time i gave back in that way. you were there for me often enough, after all." be it her breathing, or something else. "i still do everything you taught me when my asthma is bad."

"Nina!" Keo calls out as he quickens his pace to catch up to her, gaining on her before she had a chance to slip out of his eyeline and away from a conversation he feels like neither of them want to have but neither can avoid.

"Slow down. I need you to tell me what the hell is going on."

He has an inkling from what he had overheard when he had last been at his mom's, but the woman had been a vault since and the only other source he could implore for answers was his cousin.

LOCATION: Pool Party, JJ's Beach House.

JJ has no idea how it even happened, but his party seems to be in full swing. Not that he's had any clue what he was signing up for when he made the impulsive decision to throw a party during the annual block party weekend. But with all of his closest friends, and fellow townspeople in attendance, the whole beach house seems to be buzzing with excitement. He steps out of the house in order to get some air, glancing around the street that's been shut down for the block party. A soft laugh escapes his lips as he watches everyone enjoying themselves, and steps over to his lawn to see Aiden. "Not again, man..." He jokes, recalling the time he had found the other passed out drunk on his lawn. "I mean, I guess you're I can let you off the hook you're planning to do it this time. You're at my party, after all."

It was his fault they were slightly later than arranged -- the cigarette he had stopped for had been necessary -- and now the swell of people in front of the stage had increased to twice as many as had been there when he had said they would be good for five.

"Vibe at the back or should we try battle are way closer to the front?"

"We don't have to stay long," Uly assures, his hand finding it's way to Edie's without much thought to hold it as he leads them down towards the beach. Town-wide gatherings and Uly tended not to be the best mix and he was making a conscious effort to keep himself out of trouble, especially at the first one he was showing up at with her after nearly four years.

he's at the back of the crowd, respectfully standing on a bench to see over the wall of people far taller than him to get a better look at the stage. not that he's entirely sure why he's bothering at this point. for the life of him, he couldn't remember who the hell was performing, and he's can't decide if it's because he's simply forgotten, or if it's just that he's so stuck in a different era with his music taste that he simply hadn't heard of them before.

which is why he leans over to the person next to him, raising a brow in question as he lazily gestures towards the stage.

"am i the only one who ain't got a clue who they are? did i miss somethin'?"
