Interesting-- Dr. Murthy (of U.S. Surgeon General and Fail Better podcast fame) just put out a warning that alcohol might be a significant contributor to colon cancer-- as in, more die by that cancer every year than drunk driving. o.o (He also points out that the public didn't become properly aware of the dangers of cigarettes until the 60s surgeon general put out a warning, too.)

We shall see where this goes, but... alcohol's technically a poison to the human body, right? I wouldn't be too surprised (especially in large quantities.)

“People need to be warned,” Brawley said. “There is no safe amount of alcohol.”

“For those sites where there is direct contact … this is clearly the mechanism,” said Dr. Béatrice Lauby-Secretan, head of the Handbooks Programme at the International Agency of Cancer Research, or IARC. Those sites include the mouth, esophagus, stomach and colon, she added.

A recent IARC report found that about 20% of the nearly 75,000 lip and mouth cancers diagnosed worldwide each year are caused by drinking alcohol, for example.

Oh yeah, alcohol is actually a super dangerous - but of course legal - drug. Its impact is so often downplayed, even though it's responsible for so many deaths every year. Not to mention how normalized it is. The other day I read someone refused to go to a wedding because the bride and groom decided not to provide alcohol.

They've said for years now that there's no safe amount of alcohol - I fear most people don't care, or don't believe it. We're humans, after all. We want what we want. I personally don't drink any alcohol and I wish it wasn't so normalized and even more than that I wish people would actually take it seriously.

Not only were people not aware of how dangerous smoking is, for a while they thought it would be good for the lungs! *good* for the lungs, can you imagine.

okay. under the assumption that namemc spoilers are a troll, i think i have my final wildcard prediction:

gem and pearl said (paraphrasing) that the mobs were all weird and that wasn't really the wildcard nor a spoiler. it's the last episode, so presumably grian didn't want everyone to die to random wildcard effects (some people was probably fine)

so my prediction is decaying/corrupting world. something about the world is falling apart. maybe gravity changes? blocks getting replaced? shrinking world border? idk exactly but i feel like this would be fun for a couple of reasons

a sense of finality to the season. it has to end here because the world is literally falling apart

a deadline. its got to be tempting for the cc's to drag out the last session and try and gear up/prepare/get enough content. this puts a hard clock on the season

a strangely thematic ending (imo). this world was weird and wild. things happened that were not supposed to happen. eventually all of that energy had to break and the world broke too

the fanart would fuck. just. so hard. after a season of ridiculousness, the drama artists deserve to go ham

anyways even if this isn't the wildcard, im going to hc the server corrupting as the season ends. a treat for me

hi i got my ramen shop standee and the arcade machine keychain a while ago and they are AMAZING quality, they arrived just in time for a convention i cosplaued majima at and it was such a fun little addition to my bag. if you don't mind me asking what manufacturer do you use for all your stuff :0? they're super high quality compared to some manufacturers I've seen people recommend

I use vograce! it's not everyone's fav choice from what I gather from various other creators but my personal experiences so far (and I've ordered so much crap lol) is very good. they're a lil pricier than others too but I go to them cuz their products are good, they have a decent moq, and their customer service is very helpful/responsive

if you're interested in acrylic stuff, I would rec them. they have a ton of other products too that I haven't necessarily tried yet but they also offer sample services (sometimes free, sometimes a fee depending on what it is) so that's super helpful. and if you ask em, they'll provide proofs of items before they make em so you can check the art or whatnot (very helpful to make sure they don't make something backwards lol esp if there's text involved)

rn I'm having them test some buttons and I'll be going to them for my booby mousepads too cuz me and a friend collab'd to make some and they turned out very good

So, there's this gifset by @lorelaiileigh that highlights the way both Jess and Logan smile when Rory is rambling on about something, and... Maybe that's why Logan felt so threatened by Jess in Season 6, actually. Because Rory's rambling on about "old friends" and then Logan sees Jess smiling at her Like That. And he knows that look. He knows what it means. But this time... Rory smiles back at Jess the exact same way.

We got distracted once after leaving a blueberry pie out to cool and returned to an extremely broken pie dish and extremely purple kitchen. Luckily, blueberries are safe for cats, so her violent pie theft didn't harm her in the long run.

pickled eggs kind of frighten me but last year i tried pickled fish and actually really quite liked it (although it was a medieval recipe! i think it may well have had a touch of mace or nutmeg in it which sounds weird but it was really good)

Quick round-up of a few small projects; Scarf. It is a scarf. Used the remaining silk/wool yarn I had left from when our yarn store closed, the yarn was really thin so I ended up holding it double and yeah, got a really cute, comfy Halloween-y scarf. Very happy to have it. I do regret making the stripes as thick as I did, like they look cute but between that and me making the scarf a smidge too wide, I ended up having to cut the scarf shorter than I would've liked because I didn't have enough yarn to make it any longer- at least not with evenly sized stripes. Like had they been thinner I could've repeated the pattern a little longer, but oh well, it is what it is. With the scrap yarn I just made this ugly little neck warmer, and yeah, it'll keep my neck warm indoors.

And then, using the scrap yarns from the bleeding heart sweater, made a very Crimbus-y beanie. Sidenote but I did actually pre-wash the fucking red yarn before knitting this, because I did not want a repeat of the dye bleeding incident. But yeah, it's a beanie. Again, held the yarn double this time and I'm glad I did because oh, it made the beanie so soft. It is so comfy y'all, I can not wait for December so I can wear it. I still have more of that red yarn left though. No clue what I'm doing with it.

A relatively new addition to the cast of Duck Duck Goose, this is the malevolent and ill-tempered Little Bo Peep!

A ruthless little girl of blood and wool, she’s got a thin patience to those that oppose the goal of the sheep. She’s got quite the arsenal around her— a widespread flock of friendly looking little lambs that are much less cutesy when in battle. With relentless little manic sheep that are spotted all over the place, the sheep are spoken to have a vendetta against canine-kind and all things wolf-related, as they’ve grown tired of being thrown around and hunted so mercilessly by all the real big bad wolves of the world. When prey becomes predator, a leader is to be crowned to remind of the motive— and this is where Bo Peep— a girl perfectly fit for the job— comes into play.

Little Bo Peep is the human protector of these wooly little animals, and she’s been crowned to represent what they want— revenge; against all who have ever feasted their chop and harvested their wool. She’s uptight and snobbish— a total brat far too spoiled beyond repair. She makes the utmost perfect host for controlling, frolicking alongside the flock as it continues to flourish and grow. The sheep and their leader are the living proof not to trust all things cute and cuddly. In fact, they’re all proof that trust is a fragile virtue granted and destroyed— all you have to do is look into the gaze of Bo Peep the wrong way and you’ll find yourself with wool over your eyes!

Special thanks to @pazam, @menthum-mint and @shroingushour for some help with ideas for the finalized design! I had a little bit of trouble making her outfit a little more interesting initially, haha!
