I've really really loved this season of d20 but I do agree with the criticism that the combats have felt a little bit too low stakes. all of the battles have been really Fun and creative and d20 is first and foremost a comedy show, and especially with this season in particular, the conflict and stress wasn't supposed to be coming from the combats but I do feel like at times brennan gave the pcs some crazy insane advantage without matching the difficulty, so the battles often felt like there were no stakes

#and like I Know its not because brennan he's bad at high stakes battles #we see that in never after and acoc #even in other seasons that similarly are not dupposed to be super stressful and dangerous #he does a good job making the battles intense without being at an out of place or overwhelming level of stressful #haven't finished this ep yet but like I Do understand narratively why the rat grinders are bad at combat #and why the bad kids Should be wiping the floor with them #it makes sense and I actually Love that it feels very satisfying #but it's also like this is thr Final Battle and I feel like he could have found a way to make it really high stakes and intense #and still have the rat grinders be appropriately incompetent #like there are other factors #we'll see what happens in the rest of the ep ans next week tho I suppose #anyway ultimately I love this season I just wish the combat was a little more satisfying #like battle of the brands in starstruck was the Perfect combo of intense satisfying and fun #ghost posts #text #d20
