the fact of the matter is that buffy ends up isolated no matter what the scoobies do because she bears the burden of the slayer alone at the end of the day and nothing can change that. the problem with this isn't that she's separate from them, it's that they don't want to acknowledge that she is, and in doing so they drive a wedge between them that just grows and grows. the best thing about spike is that he's similar enough to this other side of buffy to understand it and her by extension. he is the only person around who can support that side of her.
most of buffy's issues in season six stem from the scoobies rejecting a part of buffy that spike accepts. and this shame she feels for her reliance on spike and the presence of this darkness and isolation she cannot avoid is largely because of them. i'm sick of this bizarre assumption that pointing out where the scoobies go wrong in their relationship with buffy somehow equals an uncritical uplifting of spike. just because he understands her and represents a certain aspect of her doesn't mean he doesn't fuck up. i mean that's kind of the whole point of their season six dynamic. one of his biggest issues is that he thinks he's helping her by enabling her completely because he doesn't have the ability to properly identify the line between self acceptance and self destruction - pursuit of the id is one of his biggest character traits. that's what makes the end of season six and his decision to get the soul so interesting (although of course there's just as much i can say about the narrative framing of that in regards to lore consistency and the story's obsession with angel, but that's a whole other thing).
point is, the scoobies cannot understand all of buffy, and when they refuse to acknowledge this they destroy their chances of building any bridges to even a simple relationship with that other side of buffy or helping her carry that burden in any way. meanwhile, spike is in the proper position to understand buffy as the slayer and hold his own with her in such a way, but his definition of love is wholly obsessive and destructive. while i disagree that he's incapable of love and even of loving selflessly without his soul, i think spike's version of love in particular is self destructive in a way that enables buffy's own desire to hurt herself through hurting him (see the aforementioned shame regarding her shadow self). spike cannot identify why allowing buffy to give in to her dark side in such a way is bad because he struggles to understand how she could use this to resent herself - although i do think he realizes it's happening on some level.
spike is also buffy's only form of catharsis and the only one that actually listens to what she is saying during a time when everybody else is dismissing her because of the aforementioned inability to understand her as the slayer. it's a clusterfuck - and a clusterfuck that needed to be shattered with a hammer for any kind of relief. and quite frankly to disregard the scoobies' own part in this situation does a disservice to buffy as a character. to be honest, she deserves fucking better than what everyone in her life gives her, especially the scoobies, who grow to take her for granted and feel entitled to controlling her life as a way of keeping her conformed - again, due to the aforementioned lack of desire to acknowledge this other part of her that they cannot connect with.
which leads to season seven, where spike is the only person on the show who has developed and changed enough to remain at buffy's side helping her carry the burden. while everyone else suffered during season six, none of them opened their eyes to what they were doing to buffy - and if they did, none of them acted on it. spike is the only one to acknowledge the damage he's done and work to become better for buffy in any way he can. he is the only one that ends up able to carry that burden with her because he is the only one capable of facing the truth and acting on his desire to do better.
the fucking problem isn't that he hurt buffy - because to be quite frank everybody did - it's that he's the only person on the whole damn show to acknowledge his place in buffy's life, and to acknowledge the burdens she bears, and actively change himself for her. did you know he has almost all of the genuine apologies in the entire show? seven seasons and all of the harm the scoobies cause buffy, and it's fucking spike that is acting like a mature person capable of being a proper partner.
#buffy summers#btvs#spuffy#anyways buffy deserves better than that#is all#as a character who's path to self acceptance is pretty important to a lot of people#even if again i could write a lot about how that bag is fumbled throughout the show lol#btvs discourse#fandomcourse#pro spuffy#idk man i dont actually go to this fandom#i just have thoughts on buffy#honestly i never joined the fandom cause i imagine the literacy is probably worse than even the bs fandom lmfao

the kim x reader headcanon post has my life in shambles. oh my fucking GOD. i love her so much, thank you for writing that, the well is so dry for kimreader stuff <3 <3 <3 i appreciate it more than you know. i know you seem busy with rqs (i loved the latest batch of them so much as well!!!) but could i put in one for a praise kink oriented kim x reader? reader could be her new paralegal or something, she makes you really, really flustered with all sorts of what you think are friendly, innocuous comments until she makes a bold move (and you end up fucking in her office after hours, i'm thinking like S&C era?) thank you so much again, i love all of your posts!
detailed requesters, you have my heart and soul. lovely people get me out of writers block mwah!! haven't written for bcs in a while, but this is waking my brain up! i love kimberly wexler.
cw — reader has female anatomy, some gendered-terms used (good girl mainly), many mentions of reader masturbation, so much sexual tension it is sickening, employee/employer relations, kim seems mean at the beginning but she folds, thigh riding, light dom/sub dynamics, oral sex/fingering (kim goes down on reader), tons of dirty talk, hint of overstimulation, PRAISE KINK
"hey, hey." you were snapped out of your trance. "you there?"
you noticed your shaking leg, instantly stopping and sitting right up. "yeah, yeah." you were extremely unconvincing, catching the slight eyebrow raise kim sent you. "i just had a rough night." her eyebrows rose more. "i was up late. with a- project. haha!" your tone was unconvincing, but she didn't push. you were obviously lying.
god, this was awkward.
nonetheless, she sent you a glimmering smile, her beautiful blue eyes softening. "that's okay." her voice echoed throughout her office. how she managed to sound gentle in such an empty, void space was beyond you.
you noticed a stack of papers in front of you that weren't there before. "well, these are some new forms i need put on file for mesa verde. can you have them in by tomorrow?" she asked, firmly now, switching right back into her professional tone. you took a deep, harsh breath in at the sheer amount of paperwork. she chuckled, "i know you're new and this is a lot to take in, so if you would rather me take on some that's perfectly fine. this-" she motioned to the papers " -is a lot to get used to."
"no, that's alright. i've got it." you grinned, almost giddy to take on the job. the apples of your cheeks crinkled under your eyes, a genuine smile being returned to the one she threw earlier. you noticed a twinkle in her eye, but you were sure you were imagining things. that's what you get for not getting enough sleep.
"good." was all she said, her heel now clicking over and over again on the floor. "how about brunch tomorrow?" she asked, a look on her face you couldn't quite figure out.
"sure." you replied, grabbing the papers and your bag. you started to make your way out, but not before adding a, "goodnight, kim." quickly you caught yourself, turning around, face slowly heating up. "wait- i can call you kim, right? am i being unprofessional?"
she cracked a downturned smile at that one, holding back a laugh. "no, no. you're not being unprofessional. yes, you can call me kim." her smiled remained even when she said, "we don't want any weird power dynamics." she tilted her head at you, pursing her lips before beginning to put on her jacket.
"right- okay." you smiled again. "goodnight. see you tomorrow."
"okay, brunch." was all she returned with, yet somehow it wasn't uncomfortable at all.
the next morning, you woke up extra early. jumping in the shower at a fresh 5'o clock, you made sure to look your most presentable for kim. you didn't want to fumble your new job as a paralegal on the first day. you even started to work on the forms a little bit, ignoring the grueling headache that was beginning to form from not being able to drink coffee first thing in the morning, since you'd boldly decided to wait until brunch.
when you finally arrived at said brunch, almost all of the stack was gone. maybe you got a little carried away trying to impress your new boss, but when has being a people pleaser ever done you wrong?
you were fidgeting with your watch when kim walked in, grinning at you as she sat down in front of you. "so, paperwork? i know you're loving it." her voice was still a little groggy from just waking up, and you'd be lying if you said it didn't make you feel a certain way. her makeup and hair were a little unkempt, but she seemed more relaxed than the day prior.
"oh, just having the time of my life." you returned her energy, resulting in snickers from the both of you. "actually, i just-" you pulled out the last few papers. "i need to finish these few and i'll be done."
kim was impressed. not that you could tell. "that's-" she coughed, getting herself more comfortable in her seat before crossing her hands over the edge of the table. "that's really good. good work. good job."
"thank you." you cautiously replied, unsure of why she was repeating the word 'good' so goddamn much. it was kind of making you sweat. "can we get some coffee?" you cut the silence.
"of course."
brunch went well, the two of you actually hit it off extremely well. you found out that you have a lot of the same interests, tastes in art and music, and the same favorite breakfast food. french toast, obviously. you found that working and communicating with her was a lot easier than employers you'd previously dealt with. you also found that kim was incredibly hard to read, as she loved saying off-putting things that made you unsure if you were doing something incredibly wrong or incredibly right. like when you two were discussing your work ethic, you shamelessly spouted that you're willing to do more than what's asked if you, even if there's no reward. to which she replied, "that's very satisfactory. i'll definitely keep that in mind." you tried to ignore the sudden feverish feeling that swept over your body at her prideful tone. she was just being polite, being your employer.
the next few days seemed to fly by, and you noticed it was the first occurrences of you ever being genuinely excited to come into work. you woke up earlier, paid more attention to your attire, did things for extra credit, and most of all: built a relationship with kim. this relationship was interesting: you weren't quite sure what to call it.
you weren't sure if she knew just the affect she had on you, if she knew you had an affinity for praise, so much of an affinity, however: that it made you feel weak and fuzzy inside, made you feel like you were going to spontaneously combust and melt into the ground with every lasting touch she made to your shoulder or each time she complimented you on how "talented of an employee you were." it made your blood run hot every single time, feeling waves of bashfulness run throughout your entire body, especially your suddenly twisting stomach. any sort of compliment turned you into a blubbering, sweaty mess and you absolutely hated it. you were trying to prove yourself to be a professional after all. for your employer.
you brushed it off, though, knowing that she was the most experienced lawyer you'd ever met, and not a meek employee whose knees buckle at the mere mention of how good of a job they're doing. definitely not someone who fantasized about their boss late at night.
you swallowed the lump that was suddenly building in your throat as you stepped into her office to give her some notes from interested corporations in a new pursuit, which she hadn't even asked for. you set them down gently, since she was intently typing on her computer. as you got up to leave, you were held back by a simple, "what's this?" her tone was indecipherable. as you turned, you saw her quickly finding and staring directly into your eyes.
"i- i knew you wanted to add more clients besides mesa verde, so i gathered a few." you felt like a pushover all of a sudden, humiliation starting to run deep in your veins. you stared down at your feet. "is that okay?" you internally cringed at how docile your voice sounded. you looked up to find her amused, looking at you like she knew something you didn't. it made you shudder.
"of course it's okay, thank you. just don't take on too much, okay?" she answered, looking at you sternly like her statement wasn't up for debate. "i want you to have time for yourself." she added, lips quirking slightly. you couldn't tell if she was genuine, slightly making fun of you, or both. maybe she was endeared. you didn't want to think too hard about it.
"okay." was all you answered. your mouth felt dry, and you were mindlessly fidgeting with the hem of your shirt. she noticed your coyness, adding insult to injury: "that's a pretty color on you." you paused your fidgeting, looking up at her. "i'll see you tomorrow. get some good sleep in." her timbre was assertive. without saying a word, you quietly left her office, instantly releasing a breath you didn't even know you were holding. you had to zip to a bathroom, patting your face with cold water and cursing yourself for the sinful thoughts slowly approaching your mind.
you finally arrived home that night, slinging yourself onto your bed with a frustrated sigh. you felt petulance at yourself for feeling so lustfully towards your boss, who was merely doing her job. you felt stupid. you felt like a whore.
'maybe that's what she'd call you if she knew.'
that thought instantly led to many others, and you found your body moving before your brain could stop it. when you got yourself off that night, desperately riding your fingers to gain some sort of release from the intense thoughts filling your head, you never took off the shirt that she told you you looked pretty in.
you felt insanely ashamed the next morning, waking up in the same clothes from previously, feeling mortified when you looked at your clock. you were late. you scrambled to get up, not even bothering to shower. you threw on random clothes, trying to ignore how flustered you felt. you masturbated thinking about your boss. if you could disappear, you would totally take that opportunity.
you didn't even bother checking the speed limit as you rushed to get to the office, touching yourself up in your rearview mirror before haphazardly pulling into your parking space, almost running inside the building. you mentally prepared yourself for having to deal with what you'd done the night before and with what kim had to say about your late arrival.
you twisted the doorknob as slowly as you possibly could, almost tripping over your feet as you were caught with her disappointed stare.
"you're late." she said, matter-of-factly, standing up. she was glaring so hard you thought she could see right through into the wall behind you. you knew you were fucked. you'd only been working for her for a couple weeks, and you'd already screwed up. you swore you were tearing up, just from the sheer embarrassment. "we'll talk after 5." she curtly stated, pointing to you and then your desk.
5 had never come slower. you didn't move from your desk the entire day, except to pee one time. when you did, you felt her eyes boring into your back. the silence was deafening, and the anticipation had you tingling the entire workday. when the forbidden hour finally arrived, you shakily grabbed your stuff, wobbling towards her desk, avoiding looking into her eyes.
"look at me." of course, you instantly did, your eyes wide with hesitation. "i'll let you being late slide for today. don't let it happen again." you felt like a weight had been lifted off your shoulders. "there's actually something else i wanted to talk to you about." once again, you couldn't decode what she was trying to say from her tone alone. timidly, you took a seat on the chair in front of her desk, leaning your back against it in a lame attempt at looking unbothered. anyone could tell you were a wreck. she took the opportunity to walk around the vicinity of the front end of her desk, leaning against the front, so that she was situated just in front of you.
"what'd you do when you got home last night? since you know, it was obviously a lot." she asked, a smirk plastered on her face.
you furrowed your eyebrows. you had no idea where this was going. you really hoped you were a good liar. "i, uh- i did what people normally do, you know- ate dinner, showered, got some work done, slept." she let your words seep into the tension-filled air of the room, your lies settling in the quaint atmosphere. she looked at you through her eyebrows. "no i mean, really. what did you do?" you could tell she didn't believe you. you still played dumb.
"i don't really know what else to add. i watched a movie." you were lying straight through your teeth, and it was insanely obvious. you couldn't even look her directly in the eyes. you were staring at her nose, barely blinking. barely breathing at that point. she reached forward to place your chin between her pointer finger and her thumb, lifting your head up to an embarrassingly high position, just to see if you'd swat her away or go pliant. "oh, come on, tell me more." she was being condescending, her heeled foot going to separate the two feet you had crossed on the floor.
your breath hitched, and your brain started to short circuit. you couldn't tell if this was really happening. "be good and tell me." oh, if that didn't make you feel intoxicated with her presence. the words made you tremble, a speedy pulse being shot throughout many areas of your body. you couldn't look away even if you wanted to. it was like every aspect of her being was itching for you to respond.
your voice broke when you barely whispered, "i touched myself." she saccharinely grinned, going back to sit in her chair, leaving you speechless and extremely embarrassed. you were definitely getting fired. she glanced at you, intently staring like she was debating on what to say. "you know- when i say you're one of, if not, the best employees i've had, i truly mean that." she seemed indifferent. "you're just so-" she paused again, still not breaking eye contact. "well-behaved." you felt dazed. "thanks." she laughed, a real laugh this time. "see, you're proving my point! come sit." she patted her leg, watching you connect the dots and shakily walk over.
"now i want you to be a doll for me, and tell me what you thought about." she rasped, gently grabbing your hips to straddle her clothed thigh. "should we be doing-" she shushed you instantly. you squeezed your eyes shut, hips ghosting against the firm muscle. you started talking first. "i thought about-" she pushed your body down, guiding you. a tiny gasp escaped your mouth and you wanted to bury your head in her neck. "keep going for me." your hips stuttered at her low, barely audible voice, as you began to squirm. you found your rhythm, barely panting, trying to keep your composure as you explained yourself. "i thought about you- telling me what to do." you sighed after the admittance, needily grinding your body down more, reveling in her pleased chuckle. she added on, her hands finding a spot on your ass, barely touching you. "i was telling you how good you are?" she teased, mocking the high-pitched 'uh-huh' you released right after.
she stopped you before you could do too much. "can you take your pants off for me?" she asked, but it was more of a demand than anything else. you've never moved more quickly in your life, instantly shedding your trousers, not even feeling exposed in front of the domineering woman. "there you go." she purred, lightly pushing you to sit on her desk. she took in your state, totally opposite to the professional, eager employee she knew you to be. you looked lust-struck, like you were stuck in a haze you couldn't shake. "look at you, obeying me. you have no idea how crazy you make me feel." she sunk down in front of where you were sitting, just behind her name plate. her veiny, nimble hands found their way to your supple thighs, easing them apart. you instinctually whined, feeling exposed. she groaned, hands gripping your skin.
"it's just so cute how much you're willing to do for me. you're such a good girl, hm?" her eyes glimmered, smiling at your nod and sexually frustrated stare. she wanted to reward you for your good behavior. she started to press open mouthed kisses along your thighs, still staring up at you. her eyes glistened in the low sunlight that slipped through her blinds. "can i finger you?" she was concise, giggling again at your shyness. "yeah."
"need to reward you," she mumbled against the top of your underwear band, before reaching to pull them off, but not before neatly setting them beside your trousers, which made you laugh. "what? i like it neat, ok?" she had you so smitten you just beamed at her, not even questioning that she just cleanly folded your (very wet) panties. she ran her pedicured nails just over the outside of your pussy, listening for the hushed, obedient "kim" she desperately craved to hear. she kindly placed her mouth to your clit, feeling herself grow more and more aroused at how your whining turned into pleading for her to continue. "god, you're so beautiful, you've got no idea." she sensually whispered against your tender flesh, her hands going to push your thighs closer to her face.
she licked a single stripe from your hole all the way up to your sensitive clit before sneakily sticking two fingers into your aching hole, she moaned lowly in unison with you when she did so. you bit your lip, head falling back on your shoulders as her fingers started to quicken their pace, her thumb going to rub broad circles into your clit. you cried out at the sudden pleasure, "kim- oh my- shit!" she sped up her pace, practically urging for you to shove your cunt closer to her face. "that's it, doing so good for me. sweet girl." the vibrations of her voice didn't help the coiling heat threatening to snap from inside of you.
she didn't stop speeding up until you were rutting your hips against her face like a bitch in heat. her fingers were ruthless against your desperate figure, spreading your hole apart and pushing as far as they could to make you feel stuffed. to make you go stupid. she was stretching you open, and the pressure was almost too much. "my god- kim-" you stammered, your moans escaping your mouth like a mantra. you weren't even thinking at that point, all you knew was kim and her talented fingers.
you were quaking, your submissive moans echoing throughout her empty office space, not even feeling shame anymore. all you could focus on were her fingers, how deeply she knew to reach you. your muscles were tightening when her tongue slipped in alongside her fingers, which were now toying with your g-spot. "kim, please- please let me cum." to which she replied, "only because you asked so nicely." the way that you naturally pleaded made her throb, speeding up her pace even more to push you further than you'd known before.
instantly, you came against her face, trembling with aftershocks. she pulled away from in between your legs, only to say, "you'll be good and take what all i give you, right?" before diving right back in.

Hello everyone before we begin I would like to say. This is my first writing piece on here and is my first Eddie story. I took a lot of time planning this story out and I hope you enjoy.
Dear Diary?
1st Entry
November 17th,1983:
Dear diary;
Well hello I don’t know how to start this but I bought a new diary. To begin I guess, I’m moving soon. I’m going to live with mom again since the separation. It’s not like I haven’t seen her but it’ll be nice to have a change of pace from here in California. Dads freaking out over what I should pack for when I move back with mom. I tell him just to call her and ask but he refuses. He says “I’m not calling that witch” . It’s very dramatic if I must say. So now I have enough winter clothes to keep me warm if I decide to move to Antártica. I’m kind of nervous being away from everything here but at the same time there are certain things I want to get away from just as bad so. That thing I speak of won’t stop calling and following me around at school trying to talk to me. He stands outside of school waiting for me to come out. It’ll be nice not having to hide anymore and I can just be me. One of the best things that I’m super excited for is to see Steve and Gareth again. I saw them during the summer but to be able to see them all the time is gonna be awesome.
“Ma, why’s it so goddamn cold? It’s November for Christ’s sake.” You asked as you put your bags in the trunk. It was freezing here, and you hated it. Dustin's eyes went wide when he realized you had cursed.
“For one, missy. Watch your language and for two, it’s not even that cold, it's only 40 degrees.” Mom stated and closed the trunk of the car and started making her way around to the driver's seat.
“Shotgun!” Dustin shouted and the echo could be heard throughout the entire parking garage. You smacked his hat off his head as he started opening the passenger door. He squawked and fumbled to grab his hat off the ground. You pushed him out of the way and sat in the front. You slammed the door and flipped him the bird. He flipped the bird back at you and sat in the back.
“You know I wanted to say I missed you, but then I remember moments like these and it reminds me how much of an asswipe you are.” He grumbled.
“Dusty-bun, watch that language, you hear me? Or you won’t be going anywhere with that Munson boy.” Mom said with a firm tone and pointed at Dustin. He grunted and began pouting.
“Yeah Dusty-bun~, watch your language or you won’t be able to hangout with your nerd friends.” You said in a sing-songy tone. He flipped you off and started looking out the window. You turned to do the same, looking at the place you would come to every summer but this time all the leaves have fallen off the trees and rain covered the windows. You watched as children splashed in puddles with their rain boots and raincoats on. Seen teenage girls running through the rain using anything they can to cover their hairspray covered hair.
“I wonder if I set a fire near those girls if their hair would catch on fire. You said with a laugh. Dustin began laughing too. Your mom glared at you for what you said but didn’t say anything and paid her attention back to the road. Soon you started seeing familiar roads that you’ve grown to love over the years. Then it hit you.
“Wait! When mom said you can’t hang out with that “Munson kid” anymore, was she talking about Edward Munson?” You turned to look at Dustin from the front seat waiting for his response.
“His name is Eddie and yes, that is who she was talking about, why?” Dustin asked puzzled. You groaned loudly and slammed your head against the seat multiple times.
“Why!? Why Eddie? Why him of all people?” You asked him. He stared at me for a moment and a smirk made its way onto his face. You inwardly groaned and faced back to the front.
“Nevermind! Forget I said anything.” You grumbled but it was too late.
“Aww is someone still upset that Eddie didn’t like them back.” He said in a mocking tone and began poking you. You ignored him until the jabs became harder.
“That was like 6 years ago, why are you still so upset about it?” Dustin asked. I turned to face with a deadpan look.
“I’m not upset about it, like you said it was 6 years ago. I just don’t like the guy is all. He’s a wannabe Kirk Hammett.” You said annoyed. Dustin gasped at what you had said.
“Take that back! He’s not a wannabe! He’s Eddie and he’s my friend.” Dustin yelled and you began to think you actually upset him. That was until…
“Don’t you have a crush on Kirk Hammett?” Dustin asked and you could hear the smirk on his face as he asked. You wanted to turn around and punch him in his stupid face. He took your silence as a yes and thought it was the greatest thing in the world.
“You have a crush on Eddie~ You have a crush on Eddie, I can’t wait to tell him you’re still in love with him. God what a loser to still be in love with someone for this long.” He giggled at what he said. You looked at him.
“Haven’t you had a crush on Nancy Wheeler since 1st grade and she’s what 3-4 years older than you? How would Mike feel if I told him you had the hots for his big sister?” You stared at him and a smirk came onto your face. He stared at you wide-eyed. He deadpanned and flipped you off. You did the same and turned back in your seat.
“That’s what I thought,” You said as you turned back in your seat. Once you were facing the front again you saw that you were home. You began to unbuckle as your mom pulled into the driveway. Once the keys were out of the ignition, you opened the trunk to start grabbing your bags out.
“Dustin! Go help your sister while I get dinner started.” Mom yelled as she walked inside the house. Dustin groaned and began walking to you. You handed a couple bags and sent him on his way. You grabbed the last of your bags and as you were about to close the trunk, you heard someone yelling your name and saw someone in the distance jogging towards you. You couldn’t quite make out who it was.
“Y/N!” The person said as they ran towards you. You dropped your bags when you saw who it was and ran towards them. They picked you up and hugged you.
“Oh my god, Y/N what are you doing back!?” They asked as they set you down.
“I’m moving here for good, I live here in Hawkins now. Can you believe it?” You said with excitement. They stared at you and an even bigger smile came into their face. The moment was ruined when you heard the front door slam.

sweet surprise
(moonbyul x fem reader, ~2k words, req is here)
cw: smut (basically just fingering + teasing byul for being a softie) - this is… soft. but also has no real direction. why am I like this
a/n: WHY IS THIS THE LONGEST ONE SHOT I'VE EVER WRITTEN?? WAS NOT MY INTENT IN THE SLIGHTEST JAKSLDF sorry in advance if flow is kinda off, I... cannot proofread to save my life. anyway I had this mostly written but then the purple kiss smn happened so I rewrote a couple parts to fit. happy halloween! hope this makes up for the fact that I didn't do kinktober or write anything halloween related this month 💀
Halloween night and she's working? Typical.
The only work you've done is somehow getting into this outfit and tuning into her broadcast, fighting to stay awake. What else is there to do while you wait up for her?
Her set’s cute though, arranged with fake cobwebs dotted with plastic spiders, pumpkins, and of course, candy. A lot of it. You can't help but laugh at the Snow White dress pulled over her sweats since she’s hosting the 7 dwarves of Purple Kiss, so you take the liberty of texting her during a song break.
You time the last message perfectly with the last few notes of the song, unable to stop the grin that spreads across your face when you know she's been caught off guard, rushing to adjust her in-ears and compose herself to speak again. Throughout the rest of the show, you can't miss the fact that her hand keeps returning to her lap. Probably feels like her phone's burning a hole through her pocket. Byul rushes through the outro, hand calmly waving bye to the camera but her eyes tell a different story, teeming with urgency.
You throw your phone on the bed beside you. thumbs twiddling restlessly with the ties on your outfit. No need to text, she’s definitely on her way home. Your eyelids dare to close, weighed down by the hour. Yeah, late nights are in her job description, but you’ve got a day job too. Thankfully it’s not too long before you hear her keys jangle just outside the door followed by the click of the deadbolt.
The sound makes you stand up abruptly, fumbling around trying to figure out how to position yourself. Didn’t exactly think that far, you realize. A little late though because you hear the door swing open, so you just stand in front of the bed with all the confidence you can muster.
“Wow,” she draws out, eyebrows raised as she stands frozen in the bedroom doorway, your favorite candy bar in hand. Good to know she kept her end of the deal. “Quite the surprise.” Her mouth suddenly feels… rather dry. She starts sputtering something incomprehensible about why, or how— but she’s just drawn to you with her mouth slightly ajar, abandoning her bag on the floor and tossing the candy atop it after closing the door with her foot.
“Aw, where’s the costume?” you whine. She gestures back at the bag on the ground.
“You really thought I was gonna drive home in a dress over my sweats?”
“I mean it’s all coming off anyway, princess.” Can’t resist the opportunity to call her that, can you?
“Is it now?” she chokes out as a blush moves through her face, trying poorly to keep her cool. Her hands stay clasped behind her back, eyes taking in your form while leaning forward slightly at the waist. You reach out a hand to pull her in for a kiss and she can’t help but relax into it, lips stretching into a smile against yours. It's not long before it deepens into a rhythm that’s bound to leave you both absolutely breathless if it keeps going for much longer.
She’s so tired that she could probably fall asleep on you, but she can’t deny how enticing this outfit is. It’s not every day you dress up for her like this, it’d be criminal to not appreciate it in full.
You steer her back into the closed door by the front of her shirt and bring a knee between her legs, body pinned by your thigh. Even though it’s your job to lure her in per the part you’re trying to play, you can't help but feel secure and at home in her arms. It feels silly putting this much weight behind a gesture, her arms casually draped over your body with hands coming to rest on your back. It’s not even overtly sexual and yet the sheer security of it all flusters you to no end.
You move to plant open-mouthed kisses on her neck and the hitch in her breathing makes her entire body momentarily freeze when your canines barely scratch at her skin. The artery underneath thumps erratically in response, anticipation warming every place your lips touch. Byul moves her head back and to the side with a groan, guiding you further into the crook of her neck with a hand, ring-clad fingers toying with the hair at the nape of your neck. You suck in hard, guaranteed to leave some kind of lingering proof to cover up later as her fingertips tug more decidedly at your hair in reply.
You pull at the front of her shirt again, guiding her away from the wall to push her onto the bed. She flops down softly, hair splaying out in messy tendrils over the sheets. You follow to straddle her waist between your thighs, laying atop her chest to give her a soft yet deep kiss with her head between your forearms. Your hands find hers to trace little shapes on the surface of her palms.
Byulyi absolutely adores being loved like this, affectionate intention behind every action. She’s just a big softie and in most contexts feels embarrassed to admit it, but moments like these with you are nothing but safe (and teasingly playful, within reason). So she’s okay with her body surrendering to your touch, grasping at your hands to hold them in hers as she kisses you back, gnawing gently at your lower lip.
It’s hard to miss the fact that she’s rolling her hips up into you, vying for more already. A teasing laugh escapes your throat when you give her a sweet peck on the cheek telling her to be patient as her face contorts into a pout. You sit up off her front to begin unbuttoning her shirt while she kisses at your face and neck, letting out a low chuckle against your warming skin when your fingers mistakenly fumble with the bottom button. Obviously, you’re in a bit of a rush to get her undressed, too.
"Hm, no bra?" you inquire lightly.
She just raises her eyebrows cunningly in reply. That means she expected you to do this, wanted to take the risk at work, knew you'd be watching, or took it off between the end of broadcast and getting home. Regardless of the real reason, your head shakes at her presumptuousness.
Her fingers tease at the edges of your outfit in the meantime, not-so-stealthily trying to figure out how to get it off. You whisper with assurance that she doesn’t have to do a thing, gently stilling them with a hand. She relaxes and smiles softly at the prospect, having you in the drivers seat. She might’ve laughed a little too hard the first time you tried to do so, which lit a fiery determination to prove yourself that night. Needless to say, she’s never questioned your abilities since. And she’s not really about to say no to being taken care of after a long day.
Byulyi can’t decide where to look— the subtle smugness plastered on your face, how your outfit fits in all the right places, or to watch every little thing that you’re doing to her with your hands, which now trail decidedly down her front. She hisses when your fingertips barely ghost over her sensitive nipples, moving down to drag over her abs. Sliding her sweats down her legs along with her underwear, she can’t help but feel a bit exposed. Your outfit might not cover much, but hey, you’re still covered. Her slender hands and arms come up to block her burning face, as if that does anything to abate her flustered state. Byul feels your lips ghost her skin, muttering praises as your fingers encircle her wrists, gently tugging at them hoping she'll relax.
With her backed all the way up against the headboard, you position your entire body between her legs with a thigh right up against her, wetness already dampening it as you push in ever so slightly.
“Fucking tease,” she breathes with eyebrows furrowed, remaining firm in her usual stubbornness to not ask for exactly what she wants. Having her squirm beneath you is nothing short of pure indulgence. You back off a little and slide a single finger into her heat, thrusting slowly with absolutely no resistance. It’s useless even attempting to hold back the satisfied hum that leaves your lips at how wet she is, the teasing deepening her flush further.
She clutches at your hand moving all-too-slowly inside her, as if she could even dream of controlling the pace. Her lips collide with yours in desperation, accompanied by a complaining whimper when you starting thrusting faster but much more shallowly.
Byul figures that if she can’t get what she wants, she just has to make you give it to her— she’s surely too proud to ask straight-up. So when she reaches in and her fingers swipe over your barely clothed slit, she can’t help but sneer mockingly about how soaked the fabric is when you let out a pleasured sigh. Despite her outwardly poking fun, she’s always a little flattered that you manage to get like this just from working her up.
She eventually joins in your movements with her own hand on her clit, eagerly impatient as ever. Normally you’d make her stop but she’s tired, may as well help herself along in the way she knows best. Her vision blurs once you slip in another finger and start curling them inside of her, stimulation inside and out rapidly careening her towards the edge.
When you go back to kiss her lips again, you barely catch them in yours because she can’t keep her mouth shut, pleasured sounds reverberating freely from her throat. You move to kiss at her blushing cheeks and trail around to the shell of her ear, whispering lovingly about how cute she’s being, incoherent and unraveling just for you.
By the way her walls clench around your fingers and how her moans are pitching higher with every brush at her clit, she’s definitely close. Her free hand grabs at everything and nothing, finally clutching at the back of your neck to pull you in. She just wants— needs all of you as close to her as possible, indicated by the way she shakily moans your name, barely able to keep it together with a cheek carelessly smashed against yours. You whisper reassurances by her ear to remind that you’re there for her, and she just trembles in response to the gesture, wholly unable to do much else.
When her hips desperately grind upwards into the combination of both your hands with fingers in all the right places, you add in another. The fervent pace of hand movements in tandem with the stretch have her absolutely writhing, fully dedicated to pursuing her impending high.
Byul shudders against you with a stuttered cry as the orgasm wracks her entire body, becoming painfully aware of the sweat on her back making her glide against the headboard. Her hand leaves her clit and slumps to the side having ridden it out, but you unexpectedly thumb her throbbing clit while drawing your fingers out of her, sending one final jolt to her aching core. Her face twitches at the contact, chest heaving with deep breaths while facing the ceiling with her eyes shut, trying to ground herself.
You pepper kisses all over her face and hum sweetly against her skin, making her grin mindlessly. You take her in your arms as she comes to rest beside you, head resting on your chest. She’s taking measured breaths and her eyelids keep fluttering shut, but she can clearly make out the closures on your outfit now that she’s up close and more clear-headed. One of her eyes opens wide and shoots you a pointed look through her forced wink.
“I’m happy about the surprise, but did you really think I wouldn’t take care of you too?” she questions simply, hand snaking up your front to painstakingly undo every single tie on your outfit.

a saturday ritual
Pairing: Spencer Reid x fem!Reader Warnings: mild swearing, a single parent home, mentions of death (death of a parent & a significant other), mentions of alcohol consumption, and a lil pining, but mainly just FLUFF Word Count: 5.6k Request: anonymous: “I love your Spencer Reid fics! I was wondering if you could write something with Spencer and a single mom reader?? Thanks”
A/N: a very brief summary: spencer is infatuated by his new neighbour, a single mom to a five year old boy who likes to wreak havoc in their shared corridor. also, this one turned out to be a lot A LOT longer than i initially thought it would be but honestly i had so much fun writing this fic, it really could have gone on foreverrrrr ENJOY and as always let me know what you think !
-
For about a week after you moved into the apartment across from his, Spencer wondered what would be an acceptable excuse to go introduce himself.
Having been away on a case those first couple of days, he missed the initial opportunity. Later, his colleagues told him that was enough of a justification. Much later. Too late. Now the moment has passed, and he wondered whether pretending he needed salt or sugar was a good enough pretext. Lame.
He's caught glimpses of you out in the shared hall returning from the grocery store, or by the post box downstairs collecting your mail. Glimpses. Passing fleeting seconds. Never enough time to say hello, however enough to notice you were really beautiful.
Also enough to notice the little boy constantly tugging at your clothes. From what he could see, the resemblance was uncanny. The boy was your son no doubt. And given that Spencer hasn’t seen another adult around, he came to a conclusion you were a single mom.
It was now Saturday morning. Saturday. A day he usually spent grading papers and preparing class materials for the week ahead. And this weekend began no differently.
With a cup of coffee, he sat at his desk and began working away when an odd droning sound caught his attention. Buzzing. Yet it wasn’t mechanical, no. The peculiar hum echoing outside seemed more manmade. Childlike.
Yes, the brunette doctor deducted, the buzzing sounds he was currently hearing were most definitely airplane noises made by a kid.
At first, he decided to pay no attention to what was going on outside his door. He felt bad enough for not going to introduce himself, so he wasn't about to become the mean man from across the hall who gave out about playing children.
After taking a sip of his coffee, he proceeded to bury his head in the papers scattered across his desk. The sound wasn’t too loud meaning it wasn't a big distraction. He could continue to get his work done despite the clatter.
It was then he heard your voice for the first time. The melodic tone drew him in even more than the buzzing echo.
Dropping his pen, he instantly got to his feet and ambled towards the front door - now was his chance.
His hand hovered over the knob, but before he got a chance to do anything, he heard a slam. The noises stopped. Silence once again filled the hall outside.
The hazel-eyed doctor felt slightly foolish. He didn't really know what he wanted to accomplish by springing up so fast. Even if he managed to catch you, what was he going to say? I heard your voice, and wanted to see you. Stupid. You would think he's absolutely clinically insane. I heard you out here, and wanted to finally introduce myself. Better. Although still a little weird.
With a sigh, he sunk back in his seat and continued with his usual Saturday routine. Hoping he would get another chance.
Sunday he heard the buzzing again. Only this time he was walking up the stairs, returning from a late afternoon stroll.
Once he reached his floor he came face to face with the source of the airplane noises currently echoing throughout the building.
Spencer thought the young boy couldn't be more than five. He was wearing a jumper that was clearly too big on him. Probably one of yours, Spencer thought. Arms spread out by his side, the oversized garment covering his hands in full, the kid ran circles up and down the corridor. A wide grin on his face. The hoodie dragging on the floor collecting dustballs.
Mixed with the noises was the sound of your laughter, coming from inside your apartment. The honey-like harmony was like music to Spencer's ears. A small smile crept up on his features; what the hell was going on with him? How could he possibly feel an attraction to someone he’s never met, held a conversation with.
The boy stopped abruptly when he noticed Spencer. His arms fell, and he ran into your apartment. Vanished as if he’d seen a ghost. Although, he must have been waiting, looking out for when the coast was clear again, because as soon as Spencer closed his own door the buzzing resumed.
It continued on for hours.
Having spent time with JJ’s boys, Spencer was no stranger to the amount of energy little kids possessed. Often when playing he would be the one to grow tired first. He would be the one that needed a break while they continued to wreak havoc. Therefore the noises didn't bother him. He went about his evening, subconsciously listening out for your voice.
The next few days were quiet.
Not like he spent a lot of time at home anyway. Between his classes and his unpredictable work hours with the FBI, he only went back to his apartment to sleep. And that was usually really late at night.
Thursday evening, after a surprisingly short day, he was fumbling through his bag in search for his key when the sudden urge to go and finally say hello came over him. He knocked on your door and instantly heard shuffling inside. There was no turning back now.
Soon you were standing in front of him. Subtly, he looked you up and down. His grip on the strap of his bag tightening. Wow, you were even more beautiful than the glimpses he caught.
That came off rather stalker-ish, he took a mental note.
“Hello. Can I help you?” You asked while leaning against the frame, one hand holding the door so not let the brunette stranger see inside.
“Hi, I’m Spencer. I live across the hall.” He introduced himself, examining your face for any sort of reaction. Completely blank. “Can I help you?” You repeated. The brunette doctor was slightly taken aback by your cold shoulder. He pursed his lips into a thin smile. “No. I just wanted to introduce myself and say that if you needed anything-” “Thanks.” You cut him off and closed the door in his face.
Spencer took a step back. That definitely didn’t go as he thought it would. He rationalised your behaviour as a response to his tardiness with regards to greeting you and your son in the building. Although he still couldn’t believe you were so, for lack of a better word, bitchy.
Glancing one last time at your door, he unlocked his own and stepped inside. At least now he could say he tried introducing himself. He tried being the friendly neighbour.
Saturday arrived once again in the blink of an eye. This particular morning, the hazel-eyed doctor had an abundance of papers to grade. He made himself comfortable and got to work.
Unlike last week, when the airplane noises didn't bother him, today he found them to be quite irritating. He would reread the same sentences at least twice before he even began to understand them. Not ideal.
Frustrated, he ran his fingers through his already messy curls and let out a deep sigh. He really needed to concentrate, but he also didn't want to be a dick about it. Possibly making the already tense situation even worse.
Quickly, and rather impulsively, he gathered his things. He put on his shoes, threw his bag over his shoulder, and walked out into the hall.
This time the little boy was sitting on the floor in the middle of the corridor. In his hands he gripped two toy planes, flying them around in the air. The boy looked up at Spencer and smiled, but continued to play. Spencer smiled back while locking his door, and proceeded to make his way down the stairs.
Yes. He felt good about his decision to work somewhere else for the day.
That evening, as he was about to reheat some leftovers, there was a knock on the door. It was faint. So faint in fact he wasn't sure if he heard it at first. For a split second he hesitated, his attention now focused solely on the door. Another knock. Louder this time. He hurried over and opened it to greet the mysterious guest.
You.
Dressed in an oversized band t-shirt, one Spencer didn't recognise, and a pair of biker shorts - all covered in spatters of colourful paint. Your hair was up in a bun with loose strands escaping by your face. Spencer also noticed a yellow paint smudge on your left cheek, and white speckles on your forehead. Despite the dishevelled attire, you looked considerably more relaxed than the day he went to introduce himself.
“I guess I should start off by apologising.” You began in that melodic tone he first heard last week. “When you came by, I was really rude. I'm not usually like that, I swear. It’s just I have a lot on my plate right now. Benny’s grandparents, from his dad’s side, are giving me grief for moving so far away from them. Even though it’s only an extra twenty minute drive. But you know, they are Benny’s grandparents and I love them. They’re family. Anyway, minutes before you knocked I was on the phone with them, again about the same thing, and the conversation put me in a foul mood. Which really isn’t an excuse for the way I acted towards you so, yeah, inexcusable. I’m sorry.”
The hazel-eyed doctor couldn't help but lightly smirk. He’s never met anyone that rambled nearly as much as him. He’s learned more about you in the last ten seconds than he did the whole time you lived across from him.
“Okay. Okay, you’re smiling. That’s a good sign, right?” You brought your hands to your face, gently pressing your fingertips to the corners of your mouth as if to cover the embarrassment you were no doubtly feeling right now. “Because I did actually come here to invite you over for pizza. A truly lame attempt to try show you that I am in fact a good person and not that bitch you met.”
“I love pizza.” Spencer simply stated causing a sigh of relief to escape your lips.
“Great. That’s great.” A warm expression graced your facial features. “Oh, I’m Y/N by the way.” You were about to reach out your hand when you noticed the colourful paint covering your fingers. “Mom life.” You joked, cheeks flushing a soft pink, and let your arms fell back down to your side.
You patiently waited for Spencer to grab his keys and phone before making your way across the hall.
Your apartment was slightly larger than his, two bedrooms, and the decor also couldn’t have been more different to his own. Colourful, vibrant, homey. Those would be the words he’d use to describe what he was witnessing.
In the middle of the living space stood a dark green couch. Draped over it were numerous blankets, hiding underneath them were mismatched throw pillows. On the coffee table lay a stack of books, surrounded by children’s toys. The wall behind the television was decorated from corner to corner with various sized frames. Inside those frames were different movie posters, photos, random prints, and what he speculated was some of Benny’s artwork.
He was in awe as to how fast you managed to make this place feel like your own.
“Make yourself comfortable. I’m gonna quickly wash my hands to try get this pesky paint off, and then we can order food.” With that you disappeared leaving Spencer alone to examine the rest of your place.
His attention was caught by a not so white bedsheet, opposite end of the living space. It was covered in paint. On top of the sheet, stood an old pickle jar that was filled with water. It held numerous brushes. Next to it was a plastic box with tubes of acrylic paint with every colour a person could possibly dream of.
Spencer took a couple of steps towards the bedsheet. He didn't want to seem nosey, he just wanted to get a better look at the currently drying canvases. A distinct pitter of small feet caused him to stand up straight, frozen, as if he was caught doing something illegal.
“A-are, are you the pizza guy?” Benny asked curiously, tilting his little head to one side.
“No uhm, I’m Spencer. I live across the hall.” He explained. “Your mom invited me.” That felt like an important thing to add.
Benny sized him up. His eyes narrowed, lips pursed into a serious pout, nose scrunched. He crossed his little arms as if he was daring Spencer. It was rather silly, this five year old trying to intimidate a grown man, and yet the brunette doctor began to feel nervous. He didn't understand why. He was usually really good with kids.
“Benny, bunny, quit trying to scare our guest.” You returned, grabbing your sons attention and breaking the odd charade. Benny’s gaze traveled to you. “Go do a little clean up of your toys please. I saw those planes your pops bought you in the bathtub. That’s not their place, is it?” Benny shook his head and ran off with a loud chuckle.
You glanced at Spencer and shot him a kind smile.
“Sorry about that. He gets the whole intimidation thing after his dad.” “That’s okay.” Spencer replied. You could tell he was being nice, just like he could tell Benny’s dad was a touchy subject. Spencer wasn’t about to make it worse. It wasn’t his place. And you didn't know him well enough yet to spill the secrets of your past relationship. Therefore, the two of you stood completely still for an awkward second just looking at one another.
“Would you like anything to drink?” You asked, breaking the silence. “We have orange juice, water, or mom juice.” “Mom juice?” Spencer raised an intrigued brow. “Wine.” You explained giggling. Spencer nodded his head with a smile. “I’ll have some mom juice then.” “Good choice.”
As he sat down on the couch, you receded into the kitchen, returning shortly with two plastic cups in hand. “I forgot to ask which you’d prefer, red or white, so I brought a glass of each. Whatever you won’t have, I’ll drink.” You reached out your hands. Spencer took the cup with red wine, his fingers brushing gently against yours in the process. Spark. No, he thought. He was imagining things.
Unknown to the brunette doctor, you felt it too. The blood rushed to your face for a split second as you nervously cleared your throat before taking a sip of your wine.
“You have to forgive the plastic cups. One of Benny’s latest favourite activities is pretending to be an airplane and breaking everything in sight, so I locked all my nicer glassware away.” You explained while elegantly plopping down next to Spencer. “Plastic cups are nice. It’s like a picnic.” God, how dumb. He mentally smacked himself. Idiot.
However, your light giggle indicated you didn’t seem to mind. Your eyes widened a little, and he could have sworn they were glistening. “Well thank you Spencer. You’re the first person to say something nice rather than commenting on my parenting style.”
It was the first time you said his name out loud. And in that melodic tone of yours, it echoed inside his brain like a song. Leaving a permanent mark.
“My mom thinks I need to discipline him more, but no-one ever said it would be this hard alone.” You babbled on, completely oblivious to the silent commotion currently going on inside Spencer’s mind. “Benny’s dad was the bad cop per se, I’m no good at it. My son can cause all the trouble in the world, and still all it would take is for him to look up at me with those bunny eyes and all is good again. Probably because he has his dad’s eyes...” You stopped yourself, and chewed down on your bottom lip.
“Sorry.” You fluttered your lashes at the man sitting next to you. “I’ve been told I talk too much.”
Spencer brought the cup to the brim of his mouth and chuckled. “Don’t be. I’ve been told the exact same thing.” He took a sip of his wine.
“I find that hard to believe. You’ve barely squeezed in four full sentences these last fifteen minutes, while I just go on and on and on.”
“Give it time. I guarantee you’ll be sick of me by the end of the night, and I will never get invited over for pizza again.”
Without thinking, you reached out and placed your hand on his forearm. The air hitched in Spencer’s throat as his eyes briefly traveled down to where you were gently grasping. “Consider this your weekly invite.” You said in a silvery tone and proceeded to give his arm a gentle squeeze.
Just like that, Spencer’s Saturday routine was richer by one more item. Perhaps the most important item on the list. Pizza at the apartment across from his.
Truthfully, it was his favourite time of the week.
During those weekly visits, Spencer quickly learned a lot about you. Where you grew up, any likes and dislikes, hobbies, facts about your family. He learned that you used to teach art at a high school; a job you loved but ultimately decided to leave after you became a single parent. Now, you work at an art gallery only a few blocks from here.
Spencer evened out the scale by sharing his own stories and fables. You were quite surprised to hear about the numerous doctorates he possessed, the work he did, some of the shit he went through, and honestly just how smart he actually was.
Each time you met, you each discovered something new about one another. Something that made you seem even more interesting in the other persons eyes.
Although, an unspoken agreement was in place, the topic of Benny’s dad was off limits. For now.
When Benny got comfortable having Spencer around, the weekly pizza routine evolved into other activities involving you and your son. Movie nights. Walks to the park. Playground visits. Home-cooked dinners at yours. Puzzle afternoons at his. Spencer taught Benny and you magic tricks, while you taught Spencer how to paint.
Soon enough you were exchanging keys and before either of you even realised, six months passed.
Spencer spent Saturday morning preparing class materials for the week ahead, as usual. Through the thin walls he could hear unmistakable airplane noises and patter of feet running up and down the corridor. He smiled to himself. The echo was a pleasant reminder it was only a few hours until he would see you for pizza.
See during these last few months, Spencer fell head over heels for you. He fell hard. The ever present smile on circling your already perfect features when he was around, your honey-like laughter, your lavender scent, the way you were with Benny, the way you always watched the hazel-eyed doctor with such great interest whenever he broke out into an obscure fact.
The more time he spent with you, the more his love grew.
Spencer knew that he could never act on it. If he was a selfish man perhaps, but he wasn’t. He would never put his own needs ahead of your friendship as it wasn’t just you and him in this scenario. He had to consider Benny. What if the relationship went south and he was just another man to break both of your hearts? No. He’d never act on his feelings. There was way too much at stake.
Though he still considered himself lucky. Having a place in your life, being your friend. That’s lucky.
“Right on time as always.” You beamed as Spencer stumbled inside, closing your apartment door behind him. He ambled towards the coach and sat in his now usual spot - the left corner, with you in the right.
“Where’s Benny?” He asked, looking around for the little monster. “Benny is tucked away in his bed. He kindly requested a slice of pizza to be brought to him once it arrives so it’s really just you and me tonight. Hope that’s still okay with you.” “I mean, yeah, I guess that’s fine.” Spencer teased, shrugging his shoulders.
You rolled your eyes at him, but didn't say anything else on the matter. Odd, the brunette doctor thought. You always had a witty comeback. It was one of the many things he loved about you.
“I’m sure you could tell me how many pizza nights we had exactly, so I took the liberty of ordering our food already.” You said with a small smile.
“Thirty-two pizza nights.” Spencer stated simply. You furrowed your brows. “That doesn't right.” “Taking into account every Saturday we spent together, plus pizza on your birthday, Memorial Day, and the other few evenings we didn't feel like cooking, it adds up to thirty-two.”
“Holy shit. Maybe we should start ordering salads.” Spencer chuckled at your response. “Pizza is a lot better.” He pointed out and you couldn't argue with that logic.
Food arrived shortly after. You briskly took two slices over to Benny on a plastic plate, checking up on him in the process. While you were gone Spencer chose a movie. One that you would both equally enjoy.
You sat down again, only this time you sat beside him in what is usually Benny’s spot. Shoulder to shoulder. Spencer froze completely. Thinking if he’d move even an inch, it would scare you off and you’d shift away. You reached for a blanket and draped it over the two of you before glancing up at the hazel-eyed doctor.
“Is this okay?” Contrary to the usual melodic tone of your voice, the question came out quite croaky. Nervous. He met your gaze, losing himself completely in the colour of your eyes, and slowly nodded his head.
He’s thought about kissing you before and always managed to fight the urge. Although, in all the time the two of you spent together he was never situated this close to you. Your face was a mere few inches away from his. Oh fuck.
The moment lasted only about half a second, but to Spencer it felt like time stood still. Honestly, if you hadn’t turned away to start the movie, he probably would have lost the inner battle. He wouldn't have been able to hold himself back. He would have kissed you. Maybe he was a selfish man after all.
Swallowing the growing lump in his throat, Spencer also turned his attention to the tv. Without breaking your eyes from the screen ahead, you handed him a slice of pizza which he took gratefully. The two of you ate in silence. Enjoying the movie, but mainly each other’s presence.
The brunette man couldn't place the exact moment you cuddled yourself up to him. One minute he peeked to ask you a question about something that now seemed unimportant and you were just there, your head resting against his chest.
A smile circled his lips. He could definitely get used to this.
“I don’t know about you, but I’m completely lost.” You mumbled. “And that says a lot considering I’ve seen this movie before. I didn’t understand it then, I still don’t understand it now.”
“If you've seen this before, why did you let me choose it?” Spencer asked. You tilted to look up at him. “Because I thought you’d be able to explain it to me. You know, using that big genius brain of yours.”
Spencer chuckled. He lifted his hand and began to gently caress the top of your head. “What if I tell you my theory and it ruins the movie for you?” He asked, but you waved your hand dismissing his question. “What if you tell me and it improves the movie?”
“That’s a fair point I guess. Okay.” He continued to run his fingers through your hair as he began to explain. “The movie seems confusing because it’s actually reverse order storytelling. It kind of works its way from the end to the beginning through a series of flashbacks and flash-forwards. Therefore, as you’re watching, you get a view into Lenny’s diminishing state of mind.”
You raised a brow. “Are you sure you haven't seen ‘Memento’ before?”
He raised his hands palms up. “I swear this is my first time.” He pledged, corners of his mouth twisting into a smile. “Hmm...” “I’m just extremely observant. Plus you know I love puzzles, and this movie is like one giant puzzle.” He continued.
“Let’s pretend I believe you Spencer.” You said squinting at him, before turning back to look at the tv. The brunette man smirked under his breath. His hand once again tangling itself in your hair.
The sound of a delicate tiptoe approaching the living room caused you to sit up and reach for the remote. Although to Spencer’s surprise you didn't move away from him. Instead, you leaned your body into his side so that if you wanted, you could place your head back on his shoulder.
“Mommy.” Benny muttered. With a little hoist from you, he scrambled into your lap. “Mommy.” “What’s up bunny? Mommy was just finishing a movie, and then I would have come check on you.”
Benny shook his head. He gripped onto the collar of your t-shirt with one hand, the other travelled to your face. He pushed himself into you, angling your head so that he could whisper something in your ear.
Spencer watched as the smile on your face widened at whatever it was Benny said. The young boy pulled away, and waited for your response. “I don’t know kiddo. Would you like me to ask him?” Benny nodded, also now grinning.
“Spencer?” You turned to address the brunette man. “What is your opinion on pillow forts?” He saw the sparkle in your eyes and he couldn't help but smile. “I love pillow forts.”
Within the hour, the living space was completely transformed into a squashy soft kingdom. Benny joyfully screamed that this was the best pillow fort ever as he crawled inside, teddybear in hand.
You nudged Spencer’s arm before staring up at him. “Thank you.” Your eyes locked as your hand slid into his with ease. Fingers instantly intertwining together like magnets.
“We haven't done this since his dad passed. I’ve suggested it many many times, but he uhm, Benny never wanted to.” Pause. The expression on your face dulled. Mouth quivering as you spoke. “Ehm, his dad was a pilot hence my little guys obsession with planes. He died really suddenly nineteen months ago. Benny was so so small. And I don’t really know how much he remembers of his dad, I mean I tell him stories all the time and so do his grandparents, it’s just hard to tell sometimes if uhm... Pillow forts were like their thing, so after his dad I think they were too painful for Benny.”
Spencer gave your hand a gentle squeeze. You were both now standing toe to toe, facing each other fully.
“I guess Benny just needed to feel ready again. Happy even. So what I’m trying to say is, Spencer, thank you. Truly. Thank you for brining joy back into his life.” You hesitated, biting down on your bottom lip.
“Thank you for brining joy back into both of our lives.”
It meant a lot to Spencer that you finally felt comfortable enough to share more details about Benny’s dad. He never wanted to replace the man, he wouldn't dream of it. All he really wanted since the day he met you was to make you a little bit happier, and to hear he was succeeding warmed his heart.
You immediately noticed how his face lit up ever so slightly. A miniature smile circled your lips. “I just hope we didn't obscure your life too much these last few months.”
Using his free hand, he placed the loose strands of your hair behind your ear. Gently caressing your cheek with his thumb in the process. “Are you kidding? There is nothing I would rather be doing. I love spending time with you guys.”
Your eyes sparked with admiration.
“I love our pizza nights, overanalysing different movies with you, listening to Benny’s rendition of ‘In Summer’ from ‘Frozen’. Heck, I love that I now know what ‘Frozen’ is.” You chuckled as he carried on. “I love painting with you, and how you tell me I’ve gotten a lot better at it even though we both know that’s not true. I love that you get a long with my friends. I love that I can take you and Benny over to JJ’s for playdates. Surprisingly, I love playdates. I love how you let me read to Benny when you’re cooking. I love that he loves when I read to him. And of course I love your cooking.”
Tears formed in your eyes, blurring your vision. Tears of happiness. Tears of joy. The man standing in front of you was saying all of the right things, and he didn't even know it. Or maybe he did. You couldn't really tell. The intense emotions circling through your mind right now made it hard to think.
Spencer continued. Now that he started, he couldn't stop. He wanted you to know all of these things. He wanted you to know how he felt.
“I love when we go grocery shopping all together, and how you give out to me for my bad diet habits. I love how that always makes Benny laugh. I love how you framed a photo of the three of us and hung it up on your wall, don’t think I didn't notice. I love building lego sets with Benny. I love how the two of you call me when I’m away on a case to make sure I’m okay and tell me about your day. I love the sound of your voice. I love... I love Benny.”
He paused for a split second.
“And I especially love you.”
Tiny salty droplets trailed down your cheeks as you fluttered your lashes. “You love me?” You asked quietly. Spencer nodded his head. “I do. I’m in love with you Y/N.”
You didn't say anything.
Spencer thought he was done for when you let go of his hand. He thought he ruined it. His nose twitched. His stomach dropped. He was about to apologise, say that if you didn't feel the same way it was definitely more than okay. He just wanted you in his life. But he didn't get a chance too.
Instead, your hand was now holding his face. Your lips attached themselves to his in one breath. He instantly noted how they were softer than he could have ever possibly imagined.
You tasted like coconut chapstick. Like bliss, delight. Instinctively, Spencer’s arm wrapped itself around your waist pulling you as close as humanely possible. He could feel your heart beating in rhythm with his. As your hand tangled itself in his curly hair, he wished this moment could last forever.
When you pulled away breathless, your cheeks were flushed pink. You briefly bit down on your bottom lip before once again meeting Spencer’s inviting gaze - his arm still holding you in a tight embrace.
“Tell me again.” You whispered. Spencer’s lips circled into a warm smile. “I love you.” He declared. You slowly traced along his jawline with your fingertips. A bright bream circling your features. “I love you too Spencer.”
The second those words filled the air, he picked you up by the waist and spun you around. A carefree shriek slipped out from your mouth. He set you down and gently grabbing your face, he hauled you in for another kiss.
“You have no idea how long I have wanted to tell you all of those things.” He muttered against your lips. His stubble grazing your chin.“How long I’ve been wanting to kiss you.” You giggled.
“Maybe one day you can enlighten me, but I think now we better crawl into that fort as it is way too quiet in there. Suspiciously quiet.”
Spencer laughed. “Yeah, that’s probably a good idea.” The two of you broke apart. Hand in hand, you joined Benny inside the pillow kingdom.
The boy was tangled up in a fuzzy blanket, slowly drifting asleep. He cuddled himself up to you the second your back hit the ground. You kissed the top of his head before turning to Spencer.
“Do you want to finish the movie?” You asked quietly.
“It’s okay.” He effortlessly squeezed his arm behind your neck. This allowed you to snuggle in closer and rest against him. “We can just lay here.” “What a perfect plan.”
The smile on your face caused Spencer's heart to skip a beat. He placed a kiss to your temple feeling 100% content.
It was Saturday morning. Saturday. A day Spencer used to spend grading papers and preparing class materials for the week ahead. Now, thanks to the woman sleeping peacefully beside him, his Saturdays looked much different.
Gradually, you stirred next to him. Eyes fluttering open as a yawn escaped your mouth. “Mhmm, good morning.” “Good morning beautiful.”
“How much time do you think we have?” You asked while stretching. “I would say,” Spencer glanced at the imaginary watch on his wrist. “, about five minutes.” He looked down at you and began slowly leaning in. You couldn't help but let out a soft giggle. “Let’s make ‘em count.”
A clatter of fast approaching feet caused you to halt right as your lips were about to touch. Spencer groaned knocking his head back against the wooden headboard.
“Your calculations were a little off Dr. Reid.” You teased sitting up as he ran his fingers through his ruffled hair. He looked at you once again with the kindest smile. You loved that smile.
“My apologies Mrs. Reid.” He pecked your lips just as the door flew open, your kids bursting through.

How You Calm the Comandante
Comandante Veracruz x afab!reader (smut with no pronoun use)
Word count: 2.9k
Warnings: smut (18+ only), fingering, edging, unprotected sex, rough-ish sex (it’s actually fairly tame for V here lol), cockwarming, Veracruz-typical violence, migraines, fluff
Idea based off of this anon I got that I loved so much I had to write: Veracruz would be a fucking pouty angry man who takes it all out on his subordinates when he is sick/has a headache. They all pray he goes to see his girl cause thry can't take much more of his wrath! But Veracruz grumpily melts into a puddle when she fusses over him.

Comandante Veracruz was in a mood. He usually tended to be, but today especially he was extremely short tempered and irritable. He stalked around the compound where he was currently stationed with his men for training exercises with a deep scowl on his face and a don’t-fuck-with-me air about him. It made his men absolutely terrified.
His yells could be heard throughout the complex, and the men cowered in fear and just hoped that Veracruz’s wrath would not be directed at them next. They hid when they could, and did their best to appease him when they couldn’t. Even with how the comandante was on a normal day, this was exceptionally tough for the men.
Veracruz ducked into a shadowed corner and buried his head in his hands. The pain that rang through his skull was almost unbearable and he had never felt anything like this before. His eyes felt like they were on fire in his skull and every sound and light source felt like he was getting stabbed in the temple. No doubt this was a migraine, and a particularly nasty one at that.
With a heavy breath, Veracruz gathered himself again and moved back out to command his men. Today though, “commanding” took on a whole different meaning as he tried to cover his pain with shouts and screams. They ran dills harder than ever before, and Veracruz even pulled his gun on those who did not respond fast enough to his orders.
No doubt they were all terrified, and they had to do something about the comandante’s sour mood. Most of them just did their best and hoped that Veracruz would leave and go see you. He was always in a much better mood after his visits with you, and it did not take a genius to figure out why. The men began to think that some time with you was their only hope.
Veracruz’s lieutenant, his second in command, finally decided to do something. And, acting in the men’s best interest as well as Veracruz’s, he snuck out of the compound and drove to your place. He was the person, other than you, that Veracruz trusted the most. And he was the only one who knew where you lived. Veracruz kept it a secret for your own safety, but he also decided that he needed a backup in case anything ever happened and someone other than himself needed to get to you.
You opened the door with a surprised look on your face. You recognized the lieutenant, but you had no idea why he was here instead of Veracruz, “Is everything alright?” you asked.
He let out a deep exasperated sigh, “Not exactly,” he briefly explained the comandante’s mood and current violent rage, “He even shot one of the new recruits in the foot when he didn’t move fast enough,” the poor guy sounded so tired.
You let out a heavy sigh at that and immediately understood why he was here. With a nod, you agreed to come with him, even though you knew it broke protocol as well as several rules. You figured that since this was within the complex and they were only working on training exercises, it would be ok for you to sneak in to take care of your comandante. Besides, Veracruz had snuck you out into the field before so this was not nearly as risky.
The drive was quiet and the sun had started to set when the lieutenant pulled into the complex with you in the passenger seat. You were quiet in the drive, and you could tell that the man next to you relaxed visibly as he led you toward the comandante. Your overnight bag sat in your lap; you came prepared since you always tended to spend a good amount of time with Veracruz whenever you were together.
After he parked and guided you through the complex, you could see looks of relief on the men’s faces. You had to laugh to yourself; you knew they knew why you were here. Honestly, you felt bad for them, and you hoped that your visit would help. Veracruz may have kept you a secret from his enemies and anyone else, but his men knew exactly who you were.
The lieutenant stopped in front of a door with Comandante Veracruz’s name on it, and gave you a grateful nod and small smile before he turned to leave. You shook your head; all these tough military men and they needed you to calm the rage of their leader. With a half grin, you knocked at the door and you rolled your eyes when you heard his muffled yell on the other side.
When the door swung open forcefully, you were met with Veracruz’s scowl in your face. But, he immediately relaxed and dropped his shoulders when he saw that it was you. A fire still burned in his eyes, and you could tell that he was in a lot of pain, though he tried to hide it. He scanned you over as he breathed your name.
“What the hell are you doing here?” he snapped and immediately winced at the loudness of his own voice.
You weren’t intimidated by his attitude and you didn’t back down; you knew he would never do anything to you so matter what his mood was, “I was told you needed me,” you answered matter-of-factly.
Veracruz growled as he smiled through grit teeth. He grabbed your arm and pulled you into his quarters and slammed the door shut behind him. You were taken aback at how dark the room was, but you didn’t have time to dwell on it as the comandante tossed your bag to the corner and slammed you up against the door.
“V, what is it?”
His answer came with a heated kiss as he used his body to keep you in place. Veracruz’s hands ran down your body and bunched your shirt up and lifted it up over your head. You took the opportunity when he broke away to remove your shirt for a deep breath before his lips were on yours again. While his tongue tangled with yours, you clung to his shirt as he worked to unfasten your pants.
Just as the comandante loosened your jeans, you tried to fiddle with his own clothes, but he had other plans. He grabbed your wrists and pinned them up above your head with one of his large, strong hands while his other hand dipped down below your underwear. Veracruz swallowed the moan you let out with his mouth as he pushed two fingers into your cunt.
As much as Veracruz usually loved to hear your moans, his migraine did not allow for loud sounds in the room, so he kept his mouth on yours as he feverishly pumped his fingers in and out of you. Your muffled moans and the wet sounds from between your legs were almost soothing to him and strangely helped with the throbbing pain in his head. However, it created a new problem as Veracruz quickly got hard from the way you writhed and whimpered at his touch.
You strained against his hand and bucked your hips, desperate for more. Veracruz grinned against your lips and picked up the pace. Your heat around his fingers was more comforting than he thought it would be, and the feeling of your body against his eased the pain he felt. Just as you were about to cum, however, Veracruz pulled away. He laughed darkly at the whimper you let out, and the two of you locked eyes for a moment before he reached out for you again and yanked your pants down. A shiver ran though you at the sudden rush of cool air against your skin, but you didn’t have time to dwell on it as the comandante led you back towards his bunk.
As you let him lead you into the room, you grabbed onto his shirt and pulled him in for another desperate kiss. You fumbled with the buttons on his shirt as he backed you up against his bunk, though you were not as quick or graceful as he was with your own clothing. A small yelp escaped your lips when you felt the back of your legs hit the edge of his bunk and you heard him chuckle softly against your skin. Veracruz let you remain standing so you could strip him of the rest of his clothes.
He watched with darkened eyes as you tenderly pushed his now open shirt off of his shoulders. While your hands worked to undo his belt, his own wandered all over your naked body. You let out a surprised squeal when Veracruz gave your ass a squeeze, and he only grinned at you in response. He always liked to turn things into a game with you, and as needy as he was for you, Veracruz enjoyed when he made things harder for you.
So he distracted you the best way he could: by touching and caressing your body in every place he knew drove you wild, especially with how sensitive you were after being edged once. Veracruz’s hand moved up your sides and he felt you shiver under his touch before he grabbed your breasts firmly. You gasped and leaned forward into his chest as he pinched your nipples and rolled them between his fingers. You moaned softly as you shoved his pants down, but your strength always started to leave your body as he played with you.
Veracruz took pity on you and let you go so that he could push his pants down. The moment he stepped out of them, he pushed you onto the bunk and you landed on your back with a grunt. The comandante crawled on top of you and groaned into your mouth as he kissed you passionately.
You sighed against his lips as you wrapped your arms and legs around him, desperate to have him closer to you. Veracruz kissed his way down your neck and bit down hard at the sensitive spot there, which made you moan loudly. He hissed at the sudden noise, but he was not as bothered by it. As long as it was your moans and cries, Veracruz could deal with the searing pain in his head.
He bucked his hips against you as his hand trailed down your body to your slit and he growled when he felt how wet you were. Perhaps a little too roughly, Veracruz pushed a finger inside you once again and you whimpered for a moment before it turned into moans of pleasure. He broke away from your neck for a moment to watch your face as he added a second finger and pumped them in and out of your body rhythmically.
When you felt his gaze on you, your eyes fluttered open and you breathed his name in a desperate plea for more. You reached out for his length and began to stroke it slowly. Veracruz groaned as he rocked his hips against your hand before he realized his own movements. As both of you locked eyes with each other, you both found that you slowed your movements and just got lost in each other’s eyes. It was an intimate moment that didn’t happen often with Veracruz, but he came to treasure those moments when they do happen.
Just as the moment started, the comandante ended it as he pulled his fingers out of you and lined himself up at your entrance. In his mind, he thought that he could fuck his migraine away and use your body for his own gain. Of course, however, he would never leave you unsatisfied. Perhaps others liked to think differently, but Veracruz always made sure you had your fill when he fucked you, and he prided himself on his ability to make you scream so loud that you lost your voice for a brief time.
But because of the almost blinding pain in his head, Veracruz entered you much more slowly than he normally would. Regardless, you moaned and bucked your hips against him as he stretched your pussy out with his length. When he was fully sheathed inside you, he paused as collapsed down on top of your body. You felt so good around his cock, and Veracruz was pissed off that the pain in his head didn’t allow him to enjoy the feeling of you fully.
“V? You ok?” you asked in a hushed voice as you wrapped your arms around him.
Not one to be defeated by anything, Veracruz quickly recovered and pushed himself back up with a low groan. His eyes trailed down your figure as he took in the sight of you underneath him in the dim light. Even in the darkness, he could still see the outline of your body and he groaned when his eyes locked on to your pussy with his cock buried deep inside it.
The sight set off something within Veracruz and he planted his hands on either side of you and started to pound relentlessly into you. Immediately, you threw your head back against the firm mattress of the bunk and cried out in pleasure as you clung to his shoulders.
But the comandante soon changed positions and he brought his arms down and hooked them around the back of your knees. He used the leverage to hike your legs up and folded you in on yourself. The action drove his cock even deeper into your pussy and you both groaned at the action. The comandante stilled himself at the new angle for a moment and just relished the feeling of your cunt and the look of sheer pleasure on your face.
“Mine,” Veracruz spoke in a low growl for the first time as he thrust into you again.
Your cries filled the room, but Veracruz didn’t care. Where others' sounds felt like a stab in his head, your sounds were music to his ears. He wrapped one of his arms around your thigh to reach your clit and rubbed furious circles. You clawed at wherever you could reach as you bucked your hips against his and felt your orgasm build up already.
“Yours…” you whispered as you held onto his knees, “V… I’m close…”
His grip on you tightened at your words as he sped up his thrusts, “Come, cariño.”
That was all it took for your climax to wash over you. Your whole body trembled as you came with his name on your lips. Your inner muscles clenched on his length as your legs shook on either side of his head. And your orgasm triggered Veracruz’s own as he growled your name as spilled his seed deep inside you. The warmth that flooded his body was the welcome relief that he had chased all day.
Once Vercruz rode out both of your orgasms, he collapsed down on top of you. His cock stayed buried in your pussy as he let all the tension in his body go and just covered you with his body. You let out a surprised grunt, but you immediately caressed his sides to let him know you weren’t hurt. You didn’t want to lose the connection to him just yet.
He buried his face in the crook of your neck as you wrapped your legs around his waist and moved your hands up to stroke his head. Veracruz stayed still on top of you as you ran your hands through his hair a few times before you gently massaged his scalp. You felt him tense for a moment before he just melted into your touch. Normally he hated his hair touched, but you had a feeling this would help ease the pain he felt.
With a smile, you focused on the back of his head first and rubbed circles at the base of his skull. You felt how tight the muscles at the base of his neck were and you were determined to get them to release. His head became heavier on the top of your shoulder as he groaned softly and you knew you achieved the effect you wanted.
Next you ran your hands up the sides of his skull and rubbed small circles on the pressure points there. You found the grooves of his skull and pressed harder there to relieve the pressure that came with a headache. After a few moments, you changed direction and scraped your nails along his scalp in a soothing manner.
The connection between you and Veracruz was unlike anything else before. He remained still and calm on top of you, his softened cock still inside you while you soothed his aches. It was an intimacy that was unmatched and you would give anything to stay like this forever. This was a first for Veracruz too, and little did you know that he would wish for the same if it were possible.
You stayed comfortable underneath him while you continued to work on his scalp for a long while. His weight on you was a welcome one, and as you rubbed at his scalp more and more he felt heavier and heavier.
“V…?” you whispered against his ear.
His response came with a soft snore, and you realized that he fell asleep at your touch. Between how he wore himself out in the heat of passion with you and your soothing touches afterwards, Veracruz couldn’t stay awake any longer. His face stayed nuzzled against your skin so you couldn’t see that his expression had softened, but you were alright with that. You placed a soft kiss to the side of his head before you shifted yourself slightly underneath him so you could fall asleep as well.

~~~
The school was abuzz, anticipation hung thick in the hallways during each passing period. It had been that way for a week or so now with prom on the horizon. Everyone was constantly on high alert for the next promposal, most desperately hoping it would be their own. Girls hung around their lockers inconspicuously for far longer than necessary and boys tried to play it cool while secretly fretting over who to ask and how to do it.
Rowan was over it pretty quickly, but he’d likely have to suffer through the next month of promposal after promposal. Today was no different, there was an asking in the parking lot before school, one in his first-period English class, another in the hallway after. He couldn’t escape it.
Thankfully, Rowan wasn’t quite as grumpy as he used to be due to a certain blonde worming into his life a few years ago but he was still Rowan. Sullen and reserved as ever. That fateful blonde being the only one to draw him from his shell.
Rowan sighed, aimlessly scrolling around on his phone. It was the passing period before his 3rd-period class, AP Biology, and Rowan was leaning against Aelin’s locker.
Aelin always stopped by her locker after her photography class to put her camera away and then they’d head to class together. It was their routine, the same every day. Not yet broken during their entire senior year which was quickly coming to a close. That was a subject Rowan didn’t want to broach though.
He cleared his head of those unsavory thoughts. Rowan could tell yet another proposal was gearing up, Ilias came around the corner holding a poster board in one hand and a bouquet of assorted flowers in the other. At that moment too, Aelin turned the corner, giving Rowan a small smile as she hurried towards him.
Rowan’s cold resting face tugged into a smirk as she approached her already open locker. Rowan always took it upon himself to open it for her in advance, Aelin tended to fumble with the locks that required a specific number combination and artful twisting.
As Aelin stored away her camera and shut her locker door with a thud, a gasp down the hallway had them both turning around.
Ansel was there, her hand cupping her mouth, clearly unsuspecting of Ilias and his proposal. They both watched as Ansel excitedly agreed to prom with Ilias and took the flowers from his outstretched hand, pulling him into a hug.
Aelin turned her attention away from the happy couple and began to walk towards their next class, Rowan following suit. They progressed for a bit in silence until Aelin spoke up.
“I hope Chaol asks me to prom soon,” she confessed.
Rowan almost choked, that single sentence baffling him. “Chaol?” He asked incredulously.
“Or Dorian,” Aelin shrugged, crossing her arms in front of her. Rowan was suddenly feeling very panicked, like a fish that had accidentally discovered land, flopping around in search of water in a frenzy. To say he felt confused was an understatement. Rowan hadn’t given prom much of his brainpower. He hadn’t even considered asking anyone. He’d just assumed he’d go with Aelin. Why would he have thought otherwise? They did everything together; he’d expected prom would be no different.
When they sat down at their blacktop table in biology Rowan silently floundered as he tried to think over this revelation. Why would Aelin want to go with someone else? Usually, before class started, he and Aelin would joke around until the teacher told them it was time to reel it in but today Rowan stared ahead, picking at the skin of his thumb. A nervous tick he’d developed throughout high school.
Should he ask someone else then? He couldn’t even think of anyone else he tolerated enough to spend the night with. Maybe Lyria? She was nice enough, always sharing her notes with him in English when he was too busy with lacrosse to do the reading. She was quiet, soft-spoken. Absolutely nothing like the girl sat next to him. That thought made him frown. Remelle? No, he could barely stand Remelle, but he knew she liked him so at least she’d definitely say yes.
Rowan was pretty much out of luck. Aelin and his friend group were to whom his time was devoted to, he didn’t branch out much beyond them.
He thought of Aelin all dressed up, maybe in a golden gown that catered to her love of theatrics. Possibly in a deep green that complemented her bright eyes and skin tone. He imagined her with her hair loosely curled and flowing down her back. The delicate, golden Kingsflame silhouette necklace he’d gotten her for her 18th birthday clasped around her neck. It was easy for Rowan to conjure up that image but he couldn’t picture her looking like that and holding onto Chaol’s arm. It felt so intensely wrong to even consider it.
It was always him. He always imagined her with him. They were a package deal in Rowan’s mind, but apparently not in Aelin’s.
Aelin seemed to be catching onto Rowan’s internal dilemma. Throughout the duration of the class, he could feel her watching him out of the corner of her peripheral, trying to gauge what could be wrong. She stayed quiet though and dutifully continued her notes that mostly consisted of a collection of small doodles. Rowan couldn’t help but watch and wonder how she truly felt about him.
For the rest of the school day, Rowan pretty much blew Aelin off. He sat between Lorcan and Fenrys at lunch instead of the 2 seats on the right side of the circular table that always housed Aelin and himself. He told her not to wait up in the stands during his lacrosse practice and to head home on her own instead. He could tell she was confused maybe even a little hurt but Rowan couldn’t bring himself to push aside his mass of feelings that had him acting strange.
He wasn’t even completely sure what was wrong with himself. The thought of Aelin accompanying another guy to prom shouldn’t affect him like it was; they were only best friends nothing more. She had free reign to go with whoever she wanted and she could get whoever, Aelin was a beautiful girl he wasn’t blind to that. He’d just thought it’d be him.
All throughout lacrosse practice, Rowan was distracted, missing the ball or the goal when he had it, a stark difference from his usual skill. His coach had already pulled him aside once and asked if he was feeling okay only to be given a grunted yeah before putting him back in. He only grew more upset with Aelin as he pondered the day’s events instead of keeping his head in the game. Some part of him knew it was irrational but he couldn’t help it. Why wouldn’t she want to share one of their last big moments of high school together?
And that’s how he continued to feel as he made the short drive home with his hefty lacrosse bag weighing down his shoulder and his school bag heavy on his back. When he finally entered the home he sighed, the scent of his mother’s cooking filling his nostrils. Honestly, he’d rather stay up in his room and stew than sit through family dinner right now but he knew it’d only prompt more questions from his parents. So he dropped his things by the door much to his mother’s chagrin and collapsed into one of the dining table’s chairs.
“Feeling alright, son?” His father’s silver brow rose, already catching on to his foul mood.
“Yeah, just tired,” Rowan confirmed, taking a sip of water.
His mother entered then, a dish of pasta cupped between her oven mitts that she placed in the center of the table. “How was practice?” She asked sweetly, stripping her hands of their cover and sitting down.
“It was fine.”
Rowan’s mother and father exchanged a look between themselves. He was normally much more talkative, always giving them updates on school, on plays they’d done during practice, on Aelin. Rowan chose to ignore their concerned expressions and instead served himself a helping of dinner silently.
His phone buzzed then from inside the pocket of his shorts. Rowan pulled it out to check the message and frowned at the screen.
fire-breathing b queen👑 : r u okay?
He stuck his phone back into his pocket instead of typing a reply and forced himself to eat the rest of his dinner. He only half-listened to his parents’ conversation about their days and what was going on in his dad’s office. Rowan knew he was stewing again, falling into a spiral of uncertainty.
“Rowan, honey, are you sure you’re okay?” His mother pressed, worry lining her brow.
Rowan’s lips formed a thin line. No, he wasn’t okay.
In a split-second decision, Rowan decided he was done dancing around whatever was going on between him and Aelin. “I need to go,” Rowan said suddenly, standing up from his chair that loudly scraped across the floor. His parents looked surprised by his outburst but didn’t stop him as he grabbed his keys from the little table by the front entrance and left.
Rowan didn’t even need to look at the road to know the way to Aelin’s house. The route was in his bones now and within a few minutes he was pulling up in front of her large white house. He hopped out of his truck, not even bothering to lock the doors before he pounded on her green-painted front door.
The door opened with a squeak and he saw Aelin standing there in one of her nightgowns that drove Rowan absolutely mad.
“You’re not going to prom with Chaol,” he rasped, pushing the hair falling on his forehead back with his hand.
“Huh?” Aelin was clearly confused as to why Rowan had come knocking at her door without preamble.
“You’re not going with him,” Rowan once again declared, standing his ground, ready to get everything off his chest before he lost the courage.
“Ro, I don’t get what you’re going on about. He hasn’t even asked me and if he doesn’t ask me I don’t know who’d I go with,” she admitted, her hand still holding the door open and her mouth in a serious line.
Rowan surges forward at that, gripping both of Aelin’s hands in his own. “You’d go with me, Aelin. I want you to go with me,” he pleaded with her, lifting her hands up to his chest. “Aelin,” he continued, “I don’t want to go with anyone else but you. I want to do everything with you, go everywhere with you. Gods, Aelin, you’re like my reason to breathe, to get up in the morning.”
“Row-” Aelin tried to interrupt, her blue eyes going wide.
“No, just let me finish, I- I know that sounds crazy and I know it’s so out of the blue and you didn’t expect me to show up outside your door like this and start professing my feelings,” Rowan was rambling now he knew. Everything he wanted to say to her was running through his mind like a freight train so much so he struggled to express it. The words were jumbled in his mind as if they were a bowl of alphabet soup in a blender. He just needed her to know how he felt.
“I- I just, I thought about you going to prom with Chaol or some other guy all damn day and I hated it. Gods, I couldn’t figure out why I hated it so much, it just it- it felt so wrong. Fireheart, I want you to be with me. Gods, I think I’m so desperately in love with you I’m going to combust or something.” Rowan was getting flustered now, he knew his face was burning and he was sweating, maybe from the humidity or maybe from the sheer weight of what he was confessing to his best friend. “Rowan,” Aelin started once again, her face contorted in pure shock.
“I know you might not feel the same Aelin, I knew I came here risking that, and if you don’t feel the same-”
“Rowan!” Aelin said with more force, bringing her hands to cup his face. “Listen to me,” she pleaded.
Rowan stopped trying to fight her and looked at her. He felt as though his stomach might fall out. His nerves were so intense as he stared into Aelin’s golden-ringed eyes.
“You’re just so fucking stupid,” Aelin breathed.
Rowan’s brow furrowed, he certainly hadn’t expected her to say that. “Wha-” he began.
He couldn’t even finish his thought before Aelin’s lips descended upon his own. She cradled his face in her hands as her soft lips moved against his in a slow rhythm. Rowan’s brain stalled and struggled to catch up with what the hell was happening.
He just knew this felt right, this felt so gods-damn right.
His hands were loosely wrapped around her wrists and they traveled lightly over her arms and moved to rest on her back and pull her into him.
Her body molded against his own. It felt like the final bit of a 50,000 piece puzzle had finally fallen into place after years of pouring over it. Rowan kissed Aelin back with just as much fever, desperate to keep her lips on his own. He brushed his tongue along the seam of her lips and she pulled back.
They both stood there, gulping down air as they stared at each other trying to navigate this unimaginable revelation.
“You’re- you’re not going to prom with Chaol, right?” Rowan finally managed to ask.
“No,” Aelin breathed. “I’ll go with you, I’ll always go with you.”
Their lips met once again.
Hello! I was wondering if you could write a fluffy Lydia x reader where the reader is really bad at flirting, but absolutely loves being flirted with, as well as cuddling and being cuddled! Y’know, the usual fluff stuff. ❤️❤️❤️ Love ur aesthetics btw!
tw: none, just a bit of fluff in hallways at lunch
a/n: ahhhh!! Thank you so much for the request! I’m sorry it took this long, chemistry is taking up a lot of my time. I hope this is alright!! (and thank you for being my first request 💕)
“You need to learn how to repress your feelings better, it’s incredibly obvious,” your friend Anya said out of the blue from the desk beside you.
You whipped your head around. “What? What’s obvious?”
“You like her, plain as day, you’ve been staring at her for weeks. She’s your best friend, just tell her,” she went back to writing whatever was written on the chalkboard.
“I do not!” Your voice rose an octave. “She’s just that, a friend.”
“You keep telling yourself that,” she smirked at you.
You hadn’t been staring at her, just... admiring her. She was a work of the best artist, her smile perfect and lifted the clouds from your mind, how could anyone not admire her? But this was different. She was your closest friend, and you were her first friend at school, though that had been a different time. You both were young and innocent, now you were a year away from graduating and everything seemed to become more free-flowing and fast-paced. But Lydia was always there, she was the constant throughout all of it, who helped you when no one else could. She laughed at your terrible puns and stayed late on the phone to help you stop crying. She’d trusted you enough that she even invited you to meet her dad and stepmother and told you ghost stories until you drifted off to sleep beside her.
“You’re staring again,” Anya mumbled.
“I’m never sitting next to you again,” you sarcastically grumbled, trying to catch up on the photography notes.
Lydia sat a couple rows in front of you beside the window, her face always illuminated by the natural light while she furiously scribbled down notes and listened intently. She was incredibly talented; she could be accepted into the best schools for photography and that would be with her ‘worst’ photos. She just loved it so much.
“Okay class,” the teacher started, standing up to pack her bags. “There will be a project due in the next couple of days, very simple and covers what we’ve learned so far. I want you to find a natural beauty and capture it, keeping in mind the composition techniques we’ve learned. This will determine your status in the course.”
As she finished, the irritating bell rang over the intercom, signalling the start of lunch and a bit of freedom.
You and Anya packed your things and left the classroom in a hurry, not wanting to be caught in the stampede of students. You both stood close to the wall, waiting for Lydia.
The highway of students thinned out and only the ones who hung out in the hallways at lunch were occupying it.
“What’s taking her so long, I’ve got food to eat,” Anya asked.
“Dunno, maybe she’s talking with Ms. Wilson?” You shrugged.
“If she doesn’t come out soon, I’m gonna starve to death. I didn’t eat breakfast this morning.”
“Don’t be so dramatic, she can’t be much longer,” you reasoned, looping your arm in hers so she wouldn’t abandon you.
“This could be considered hostage-taking,” she retorted.
“This is a sign of friendship.”
She chuckled at that. “You’re so ‘sunshine and rainbows’, maybe Lydia will change that.”
“What am I changing?” Lydia walked out of the classroom with Ms. Wilson behind her, walking in the other direction.
“Apparently I’m too much of a ray of sunshine for little miss ‘I’m a hostage’,” you looped your other arm in hers to her surprise and started walking towards your lockers down the hall.
Lydia held onto your arm, the gesture warming your cheeks a bit. “Oh yeah, 100%, we’ve gotta work towards corrupting you.”
“New project for the spring, corrupt little miss sunshine.” Anya unlopped her arm and went to unlock her locker.
You realized Lydia was still clinging to your arm and your free hand found itself wrapped around hers. Your heart started pounding and you quickly let go to unlock your own locker.
“Any other projects I should be aware of?” You asked jokingly.
Anya gestured to an occupied Lydia opening her locker beside you. “Many in the works.”
You playfully slapped Any’s arm, feeling the heat rising up your neck and locked your locker.
The 3 of you slid down the lockers and started talking about whatever came to mind and shared the food you collectively had. As the minutes ticked away, somehow Lydia’s head ended up in your lap and your hands played with locks of her short black hair while Anya couldn’t stop smiling at the sight.
“So, then I was like ‘he wouldn’t do that! You’ve got be kidding me!’ and they were all ‘nope, he did, he let every bug he could find in into the house’ and then I was like ‘well where is he?’ and they were all-” Lydia went on about her step-uncle, her hands animated in the air for emphasis.
You had a little smile on your face as you looked at her passionately going on about her family. Your back was getting sore from leaning on the locker, but you didn’t dare move.
“Y/N? Earth to Y/N?” Lydia’s voice interrupted your thinking.
“Yeah?”
“You were staring,” Anya almost vibrated off the floor in excitement.
Oh no oh no you thought. Lydia could get the wrong idea... or was it the right idea?
“I wasn’t staring, just thinking,” you defended, Lydia looking up at you with curious eyes, causing more anxiety.
“Anyways,” Lydia thankfully interrupted, seeing you were uncomfortable. “I asked if you had any ghost stories.”
“I mean, I believe in them, sure, but I’ve never met any.”
Lydia’s lips quirked up. “You’ll meet some one day.”
“Is that a promise, Deetz?”
“You betcha babe,” Lydia winked. Anya choked on a french fry and you looked anywhere but Lydia, laughing nervously and your face feeling incredibly hot. You were suddenly very aware of your hands still playing with the locks of her hair and slowly pulled them away reluctantly.
“Aw, you’re blushing! You’re so cute when you blush!” She excitedly said as she sat up, her face inches apart. You swallowed and looked to the ground, to the wall behind her, to your fidgeting hands, anywhere but the gorgeous girl in front of you. You finally turned your gaze to her and saw hers was observing your lips. She looked from your lips to your eyes, then again, and you swore the corners of lips turned up when you let your gaze slide to hers.
The irritating bell rang out, echoing off the walls and made you jump back. Lydia smirked and gathered her things into her bag. You sat there for a moment, stunned and really confused. You thought she was actually going to kiss you, in a school hallway, in front of Anya, around everyone else, against the no PDA rule. You told yourself you didn’t want that to happen as you packed up your things and let Anya help you up who was grinning like an idiot.
Your breath hitched when Lydia looked at your lips, you almost leaned in, you imagined cupping her cheek and holding her closer then would be considered just platonic, you wanted that to happen. But you always felt like that, you always felt your heart pounding when she grabbed your hand to lead you to class and tried to keep your breathing even when she was bumped closer or when she flirted shamelessly with you.
You vaguely remember saying goodbye to a beaming Anya and walking slowly through the crowd to your next class, lost in thought. Well, lost in figuring out what you were going to do about Lydia.
“What’s going on in that pretty little mind of yours, Y/N?” Lydia came up beside you. You snapped out of it and halfheartedly smiled.
“Oh come on, what’s wrong? Was it something I said?” She stepped in front of you, her eyebrows turned down and a worried look in her eyes. The students behind gave you dirty looks as they passed by.
“No, of course not, you didn’t do anything wrong.” You gave her a reassuring smile, though she didn’t look convinced. You put your hands on her shoulders, trying to ignore your rising heartbeat. “If you did anything wrong, I’d tell you.”
She put her hands on top of yours, a relieved smile overtaking her features. “Come on, I’ll walk you to class.”
“Isn’t your class the other way?”
She winked and pulled you forward, slinging an arm around your shoulders. “I can run.”
Her short hair tickled your jaw and you could see her dark purple lipstick shimmer in the fluorescent light. The crowd thinned out as everyone got to their classes, leaving you two walking through the empty halls. You walked to your art history class in a comforting silence, consumed by your own thoughts.
You finally got to the plain entrance of the class and Lydia slid her arm off your shoulder to your dismay. You both faced each other, waiting for the other to say something, a goodbye or a confusion.
“You wanna come over after school? You know, to do the photography assignment?” She asked.
“Uh, sure!” You replied a little too eager. “I don’t really know what to do for it, but I guess I’ll think of something.”
Lydia smirked at you and began walking back down the hallway. “I know exactly what I’m doing.”
“Well, what’s the idea?”
“You.”
She blew a kiss and ran back down the hall, leaving you fumbling and blushing like crazy.
Once your heart slowed down, you smiled to yourself, wondering if the goth girl of Winter River really had a thing for you. Maybe she really did think of you like you thought of her. Maybe you could really be her natural beauty.
Professor Jaehyun x Female Reader
Rating: 18+🛑
Word count: 2K
Content: smut, unprotected sex, fingering, dominant Jaehyun, praising, teacherxstudent, dilf Jaehyun, slight public intercourse
Disclaimer: I do not own Jung Jaehyun nor claim him in any sort of way. This Fanfiction is made up out of pure imagination and is strictly just fiction.
A/N: this is my first time writing for this tumblr platform and please give strict constructive advice if needed! Thanks!
___________________________
"Gosh he's hot!" I whispered under my breath gazing upon the dilf himself, Mr.Jung or in other words my calculus professor.
He stood tall and confident in front of the oddly huge white board, broad shoulders facing the class until he eventually turns around to ask a random student to answer the question that I had yet to even realize what it was. He swiftly scans the multiple rows of seats depicting who had been paying attention and who hasn't. I slowly began to sink in my seat avoiding be called on at any cost.
"Ah, y/n! I see you there! Come up here and answer this question for the class." He demands in a polite manner.
I had no problem with it of course, until he said to come forth. This is a first he's ever asked anyone to write the actual answer. My heart pounds within my chest, praying I don't make a fool of myself walking down or back up these unnecessarily wide stairs.
Mr.Jung steps aside and greets me with his well known charming smile. The amount of times this man alone has made me want scream to knock all the built up nerves out of my body. He made me feel more than just butterflies, I couldn't quite put a finger on it.
"Need help?" Mr.Jung folds his arms stepping closer.
"N-no thank you, I'm sure I got it."
My hands fumbled to reach for the dry erase marker he held out for me. It was a bit warm considering he's been holding it for more than half the class. I took a quick glance at the question, immediately regretting what I said. I did indeed need help, and I don't got it. I'm sure he could tell I was hesitating as my finger sits comfortably above my top lip.
'here goes nothing.' I thought before writing what I thought was the right answer. Mr.Jung examined the question, "close but not quite. The answer was -9, you forgot to subtract this which why you got -2. Try another easy one similar to this."
Bullshit. This question didn't look no where as easy. If I mess up again oh well, it's not like he'd pop out with another question to further embarrass me. As I thought long and hard about the problem, it began to feel like it was just us two. Him applying an uncomfortable amount of pressure with just the distance between us and me panicking underneath his anticipated stare.
"Not quite right neither, it'd be best for you to stay after class you seem to be having a lot of troubles."
Mr.Jung wiped the whiteboard free of any writing once I answered the last question and moved on with his lessons. I barely made it to the first step before he had wrote the next problem to briefly go over thanks to me. His words far more stern and exaggerated in attempt to sub me. Out of my entire time being in his class this had been the most I've ever seen this man share eye contact. Yet, it wasn't sweet and kind, more like curiosity had taken over and he couldn't get why I answered both questions incorrectly.
That exact thought had been on his mind throughout the rest of the class. A part of him felt anxious to know what it was that made me fumble at the problem that he knew I could solve perfectly fine on my own.
______________________
"Alright you all have a great rest of your afternoon and please do study for this upcoming test. It'll be more than 40% of your grade!" Mr.Jung announced as the classroom flooded out the doors, All except one person.
"Ms.l/n,"
He heaved a deep sigh, shoving his hands into his almost too tight dress pants pocket. He paced around his desk before sitting directly on the rounded edge. He looked dramatically intimidating, like he wanted to degrade you the moment he could.
"Is everything okay? You're normally really good with math. It hurt me to see you troubled with such an easy question."
My hands couldn't help but fiddle with the zipper sewed into my bag. How was I supposed to tell my teacher that he was the problem. Not in any sort of bad way, and not in any good way neither.
"Yeah I'm fine, just had a rough week." I lied.
"You seem kind of tense. Am I making you uncomfortable?" He innocently spoke while his eyes examined my body for some type of body language.
My knees buckled, hands folding anything to keep me calm, and not mentioning my blushed face. I was 100% sure that my face was completely flushed a crimson red. There was no denying it.
He didn't wait for an answer, and simply lowered his curtain covering the window then locked the door. I was unsure of what his intentions were but my mind was far off somewhere it shouldn't be regarding the fact that I'm just his student. The thought of him shoving all of his folders and papers off his desk and pinning me clouded my mind. My dying fantasy to have the slightest interaction that no other girl has ever had with him.
"I'm all ears. That's if you're comfortable with telling me of course." He knocked me into reality as I began to feel guilty for thinking negatively of his intentions.
"I'm not sure I can be completely honest." I mumbled beneath my breath breaking eye contact.
"And why is that?"
Mr.Jung held his arm out for me to grab. With little to no hesitation at all, I placed my hand in his. His thumb grazes over my knuckles a fee times until his eyes darted up towards mine.
"Cause I'm in no sort of position to have such thoughts."
I simply remove my hand from his grip feeling the tense sensation overwhelm me once again building up the need to put an end to this. He sensed it immediately.
"Turn around."
"Huh?"
"I'm not gonna say it again." His voice had more depth and demand stringing to it.
I did exactly what he said, no questions asked. His hands set firmly on my shoulders guiding me closer towards him until I felt the warmth radiating off of his body and onto mine. His thumb running deep circles into my shoulder blades releasing the tension that remained.
"Now tell me what position you feel you need to be in."
His hands made its way to my spine tracing all the way down to my waist before kneading my lower back.
"Missionary?"
"That can work too but I meant regarding to what you said. What position do you need to be in to have such dirty thoughts?"
By now, you were inches away from in between his legs, as much as I wished to be in this dearest situation, my first instinct was to freeze up. Was this really happening?
"I'm just your student. The things I want to do will ruin your career." I admitted.
He hummed at my answer willingly holding my waist and pulling me directly into his lap. I felt the slightest bulge poking me through my thin leggings. His head rested onto my right shoulder sending shivers down my back.
"There's nothing wrong with the student getting a little extra lesson with chemistry." He bluntly stated right beneath my ear.
I began to feel throbbing and anticipation between my legs. Or maybe I had just noticed it now. His hands ventured from my waist toward the hem of my leggings, thumb pushing past my leggings and rubbing the outline of my panties. My stomach bursted with butterflies under his touch. He bit his lips as he felt the smooth lace of my underwear.
"Good choice Ms.l/n," he huskily whispered.
"Tell me about how you fantasize about me in explicit detail if you would."
My chapped lips parted realizing a deep breath I held in since he began to touch me in the ways I haven't yet imagined. His fingers trailed down to palm my womanhood gently creating the knot in my stomach.
"You had me alone like now, desperately removing everything off the desk to pin me down. Ripping my shirt in half as you cupped my boobs. One hand busy playing with my nipples, the other rubbing rough circles on my clit as you told me come."
He chuckled in response as he removed his hand from me and remained silent. As much as I wanted to turn around a catch a glimpse of his face, I was already too embarrassed sharing my intimate dreams with him.
He bit his lips dauntingly, "can I?"
"What?"
"Can I make that dream a reality?"
He slightly nibbled onto my ear, heat fuming from my dripping core soaking my panties by the second. I silently nodded afraid to speak at all. "I want to hear you say it, can I touch you?"
"Yes, Mr.Jung."
"Good girl, just for this I'll allow you to call me Jaehyun okay baby?"
I nodded once again holding back the whimpers threatening to leave my lips. His hands rubbed my ass gently getting rough within seconds, groping me every chance he got. The bulge teasingly poked at my core as he undid his pants lowering his draws enough to let his member spring free; slowly stroking himself onto my ass. Jaehyun grunted as the friction increased. His fingers tugged the the hem of my leggings sliding them down to my knees locking them in place.
"Damn you're sexy." He moaned taking in the sight of my now exposed ass. He stroked himself aggressively before tracing my spine with his fingers and bending me over. His other hand pushing my panties to the side as he inserted double digits into my soaked core curling his fingers and his thumb circled my clit. My breath became unstable panting like there was no tomorrow. My walls clenched amongst his digits fighting the urge to come. "Mhmm I-I can't hold it." I moaned balling my fists up against my knees for support. He took his digits out sucking every ounce making sure I heard the slurping noise before he lined himself at my entrance.
I inhaled a sharp breath as he entered his tip inside me. I had no clue how big he was but felt my walls adjusting to the girth of him. I bit my lip, holding back from the moans. His hands firmly placed on my hips as he shoved the rest of his large length inside me. I let out a small gasp followed with hitched breaths as his length reached what felt like my cervix. "Shh, you don't want no one to hear you don't you?" He whispered stopping in his tracks for a split second. He pulled almost all the way out coated with your juices only just to shove his length in back in reaching spots he may have missed.
"Oh fuck." Jaehyun groaned thrusting sluggishly. My walls clenched around him causing his grip to tighten on my waist. Tears streaming down my face in pleasure. He picked up the pace being careful enough to refrain from making any clapping noises. As much as he want to rail me until my eyes rolled back and seen stars he couldn't, not in this environment. Yet it was still enough to satisfy the both of our needs. Soft whimpers were the only thing he'd allow out of my mouth, anything louder than that he'd immediately pull out as a sign of punishment. His hand left my waist grabbing fistfuls of my hair and yanking it to see my fucked out facial expressions.
"Jaehyun." I breathed out as he rammed into me.
"Ms.l/n, you dirty little slut of mine, Ms.l/n you feel so good taking all my length in your wet pussy." He groaned aggressively in my ear pounded into me completely forgetting the fact that we were in his classroom. ~
"Ms.l/n! Please stop zoning out in my class!" Mr.Jung semi-shouts jolting me out of my day dream. I immediately fixed my posture examining the dozens of eyes all drawn towards me including Mr.Jeong. He cocked an eyebrow at me before running his tongue on the inside of his cheek.
"See me after class." He demanded and continued on with his lesson. And just like that, I added on to my series of fantasies with my Calculus professor.
The Only Exception
Pairing: NishinoyaXReader
Words: 2.2K
Summary: Nishinoya was genuinely happy with his life. He’d gotten used to being by himself and had accepted the fact that that was how it was supposed to be. Until you came along and threw everything he thought made sense out the window.
A/N: I really like this fic. It’s one of my favorites Nishinoya ones so far just because it’s his pov and timeskip and the amount of love feels makes me happy. i got a lot of serotonin while writing it :D
Masterlist
Nishinoya had never been someone’s first choice.
He knew that sounded dramatic, but it was just a fact of life. The sky was blue, Tanaka could chug three-fourths gallon of milk before vomiting, and Nishinoya was never anyone’s preferred option--which never bothered him so keep the pity to yourself.
He learned to accept this when he never got scouted for the All-Japan Youth Camp and after the only person Nishinoya ever even kind of loved ended up loving his best friend. It taught him to keep his expectations low and to focus on things he could control, which was what led him to solo-traveling Japan and then the world. He realized things might be better on his own, and with the constant itch that he was missing out on something bigger traveling alone just made sense.
But then you came and ruined everything.
Hold on. That came off way more aggressive than Nishinoya wanted. He meant there was a perfect vision for how his life would go-pyramids in Egypt, Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, deep sea fishing in Italy-until he toppled over you in the streets of Italy. He’d been sprinting toward the docks when you stepped out of a marketplace and he collided into you, knocking you flat on your butt and sending your groceries all over the sidewalk. Nishinoya fumbled through his best apology in broken Italian while shoving produce into your paper bag, but froze in surprise when you snorted rather than began an enraged lecture.
He swore his heart actually stopped when your eyes met. You were clearly amused by his flustered behavior and when his heart started back up it was abnormally fast. Not once had he understood what Tanaka meant when he explained the first time he’d seen Kiyoko, but the first time Nishinoya saw you everything Tanaka said clicked. If Nishinoya had been fifteen he probably would’ve proposed to you on the spot.
But he wasn’t, so instead he shakily handed you your groceries with furiously red cheeks.
“Come ti chiami?” You asked with a raised brow.
Nishinoya blinked several times. He racked his brain for what he’d been taught on his last fishing trip, but it was mostly curses and inappropriate sayings he should probably avoid using. He was pretty sure Duolingo mentioned ‘chiamo’ as name though.
“Nishinoya?” He answered like a question and felt relief wash over him when you nodded.
“What are you doing this weekend, Nishinoya?”
He stared blankly before pointing at you with wide eyes, “I understood that.”
“Well you obviously don’t know Italian,” you rolled your eyes and he pouted at the incredibly accurate jab, “so, are you free?”
He looked around the empty street before pointing to himself. “Are you still talking to me?”
“Is there another Nishinoya around here?”
“I mean, there could be.” He looked up thoughtfully. “The odds would be crazy though.”
You laughed lightly which made a warmth creep up his neck. “I’m talking to you. I’m trying to ask you on a date.”
He looked at you like you’d grown a second head. “Why?”
“You’re attractive and you seem nice,” you cocked your head to the side. “Is that not a good reason?”
He stared at the ground intensely. “I guess… It is?” Then his original reason for being there struck him and his eyes widened. “Oh shit. I have to go,” he started leaving before quickly coming back. “Wait, I, uh, yes. Yes to the date thing.”
You chuckled, pulling a cellphone from your pocket to let him hurriedly create his contact before continuing his sprint to the docks-with a teasing recommendation not to knock anyone else over. That literal run in was the moment his entire world view became out of whack.
It wasn’t that he thought he was immune to liking someone-high school Nishinoya fell for any breathing human that gave him attention-he just lost the ability to imagine someone liking him. Maybe he’d been by himself too long or maybe that was just another fact he’d grown used to. He didn’t know anymore.
He did know that when he showed up at the restaurant thirty minutes early-there’s only so much pacing someone can do before they go insane-he hadn’t expected to see you. Just sitting on a bench beside the main entrance, looking too perfect while bouncing a knee and nibbling on your thumb nail as if you were nervous to be there.
Except it was only him, so that wouldn’t make sense.
“Hey,” you said when you spotted him standing in the middle of the sidewalk like an idiot.
“You’re here,” he raised a brow. You took it as the time, but he meant it in a general sense. He truly hadn’t expected you to show up.
“Oh,” you chuckled awkwardly, twisting the material of your clothes. “Yeah, I was kind of nervous.”
He mulled that over for admittedly too long, but it just seemed like such a stupid thing to say. It wasn’t that you looked stupid, but that’s what made it so confusing.
“You’re also early.” You pointed out when the silence became awkwardly long.
“I was nervous.” He said like it should have been obvious.
“At least we’re starting on equal ground,” you said with a shaky breath.
Equal ground? He wasn’t sure his brain was cut out for this type of critical thinking. He’d even spent the past few days planning for every scenario-even you sneaking out the bathroom like in the movies-but he never pictured you being nervous.
“Uh, yeah,” he tapped against his leg while glancing through the window at the half-filled dining area, “we can probably go inside.”
“That’s probably a good idea,” you gave him a quick finger gun before whipping around with shoulders to your ears.
Nishinoya blinked several times before looking back down the street. A part of him thought about running, saving you both from the shitty date to come filled with awful conversation starters he’d pulled from an online article for high schoolers. However his fate was sealed the moment you sent a gentle smile over your shoulder and his feet began following you through the door without his permission.
Ever since that day he’d been waiting for the other shoe to drop. Ever since you giggled behind your hand instead of wincing at the terrible jokes he regretted the moment they left his mouth; ever since you weren’t burdened by the need to translate for him the whole night; and ever since you were amused rather than annoyed at his nervous rambling and awkward icebreakers.
It was just too good to be true.
Like the first time you came over and teased him for the cheesy dialogue in his favorite action movies. How his chest ached when your head rested in his lap and you gazed at him with overwhelming amounts of affection. He’d never dreamed he’d have this-couldn’t have if he tried. Sharing his favorite things with someone while they traced designs against his palm and occasionally sealing them with featherlight kisses. The fire it sent up his arm was too much and not enough and he hadn’t realized how much he’d wanted this.
It was a little scary how much Nishinoya didn’t want to lose it.
And that thought started keeping him up at night. Nishinoya was never really scared of anything-it was kind of what he was known for everywhere he traveled. If anyone needed something done they asked the foreigner with a death wish. So, the idea that you had that effect on him was, again, terrifying.
But what was Nishinoya supposed to do when you press your forehead against his in the middle of the night? Running your fingers through his hair and paying special attention to the blonde strands he’d always been secretly self-conscious of, whispering low how they were one of your favorite things in the world. How could he regret anything when you rubbed your nose lazily against his and kissed him softer than he ever deserved? He didn’t give a shit how scared he was if it meant he could stay like this, with you, for as long as you’d let him.
Because his heart raced a million miles a second when you mindlessly held his hand under a table or leaned against him just to be close. Because for some reason he was the first person you called when you were excited or when you needed comfort. Because when he rambled too long about spearfishing or an old friend’s volleyball game your eyes lit with genuine interest rather than annoyance. And because he was in love with you.
Which he both wasn’t prepared for and had known was inevitable. Falling for you had been like getting hit by a semi-truck he’d seen coming for miles.
It probably happened sooner than socially acceptable, but that didn’t surprise him given his all or nothing nature. This outcome was decided the moment Nishinoya knew he’d be fine with you breaking his heart a hundred times if it meant he could keep waking up next to you cascaded by the rising sun because he was still too lazy to invest in curtains. Just you cuddling closer to him for warmth in your sleep would make every ounce of pain worth it.
Once Nishinoya’d acknowledged his feelings it was nearly impossible keeping them down. With every breathtaking smile, or brush of your hand against his, or bubble of laughter that rang throughout his apartment it nearly spilled from his lips like a breath. It took all self-restraint he had to hold it back. And it wasn’t that he didn’t want you to know because you deserved this piece of him-every piece of him.
He just wasn’t sure you’d want it.
His resolve lasted nearly a month-a month longer than he thought he was capable-before the feeling was too intense for him to keep down. And it wasn’t anything drastic that made him break. No, it was something so absurdly casual that he was almost pissed at himself when the words flowed from his mouth.
It had been a completely average morning, nothing crazy, the weather was actually gross with rain pounding against the windows and the sky a depressing shade of grey. But then you stepped out of his bathroom while rubbing the sleep from your eyes, giving him a lopsided smile before slurring a soft request for breakfast. It was like time froze and he was in a stupid romcom except you were there so it was actually an oscar nominated masterpiece.
Your head lolled to the side, half-lidded eyes filling with concern at his silence. “We can cook together. I didn’t mean it like-”
“I love you.”
That seemed to wake you up. Your body straightened while your mouth hung open in stunned silence. Nishinoya had expected this kind of reaction, so he clenched his fists tight in preparation for the worst.
“Are you sure?” You asked, barely above a whisper. “That’s a pretty serious word, Noya.”
He knew that. Nishinoya had spent too many nights losing sleep over that.
“You scare me,” he confessed, deciding if he was going to dig his grave he might as well make it deep. “I’ve never really been the one someone chooses. More like deal or settle with.” He grimaced when his heart squeezed painfully in his chest, “but I love you more than I thought I could ever love anyone and that scares me. You make me feel wanted and I don’t know what to do with that.”
“Because I do want you.” You whispered and his stare locked on yours so quickly, meeting your loving gaze while his heart started racing. “And everyone you know must be really stupid because I feel lucky I got to choose you. I get to love you.”
He stared at you wide-eyed while his chest swelled with so much emotion he was surprised he hadn’t passed out.
“Sorry, that sounded really lame.” You placed a hand against your forehead and Nishinoya shook his head vigorously.
“I think that was the greatest thing anyone’s ever said to me.”
You stepped closer and cradled his face, gently brushing your thumbs along his cheeks. If he wasn’t so manly and awesome he may have teared up, but he definitely didn’t. Which was why you obviously weren’t wiping any water off his cheeks before pulling his lips against yours.
Nishinoya set a languid pace that turned desperate when you tangled your fingers in his hair. He pulled you as close as he could, which was never enough, snaking an arm around your middle and sliding one to cradle the back of your head.
When it got heated enough that he decided he’d very much like to move it to his bedroom Nishinoya’s stomach growled and you snorted against his lips. Nishinoya pouted, whining when you pulled away with a playful smirk.
“Later,” you said, pinching his cheeks and waving his head around. “Food first. We’re both hungry.”
He did love food.
He disrespectfully watched you leave him in favor of searching the fridge for food that could be thrown together for breakfast. A dopey smile covered his lips because he loved you. He was lucky enough to get to love you. And for some ridiculous fucking reason you were dumb enough to love him.
He would do whatever he could to keep it this way. For now, that was helping you cook breakfast. Tomorrow, who knows? But whatever it was you would be there, so it would be pretty god damn amazing.
Sorry that I lost our love
Pairing: Din Djarin x Ex-Mandalorian Reader Warnings: Not so vague allusions to sex, Star Wars cursing, actual cursing, violence (more than canon-typical imo), angst peppered throughout, angst ending Word Count: 4.2k (because I can’t write short things to save my life) Notes: If you think I should add anything else as a warning, let me know. I wrote this in an inspired rush and it was 3:30am by the time I finished this. Also please let me know if there’s any stray she/her’s that refer to the reader or anything that describes reader in any way. Thank you!
Summary: A Mandalorian lands on Tatooine and you would like nothing more than to dig a hole and hide in it until he leaves. Too bad you work for Peli Motto and have no choice in the matter. Thankfully he leaves for a bounty but of course that’s when things go sideways.
Sequel with less angst
The armor was new, all silver beskar but you would recognize that stance anywhere. You had grown up learning everything about him and vice-versa. There was a time when the two of you knew every inch of the other’s body, fumbling around in the dark together, twin blindfolds covering their eyes just in case the lights turned on. Yes, you used to know Din Djarin like the back of your hand. But then he had gone against Guild Code and they came after the Covert. Someone had pulled off your helmet before you could get them off of you and that was the end of that.
The Armorer had been understanding but everyone knew the Creed, your helmet had been removed by someone other than your family. Not that you had any family. Once upon a time you had wished for it to be Din but now…
You had been able to get passage on a ship, got as far as Tatooine which still wasn’t far enough for you but you hadn’t been able to catch another ride yet. Rather than wallow in your sorrow, you found somewhere to work despite being utterly useless at everything outside of fighting. Peli Motto was a beacon of hope, had taken one look at you and taken you in as an employee. At first it was small things, cleaning up after the droids but eventually she began to trust you with a spanner.
And now back to the present.
You didn’t know how much time had passed since that bounty hunter had damned you, when a familiar ship limped its way to the spaceport you had started to call home. You made yourself as scarce as you could as Peli went out to speak with the owner of the ship. You were close enough to hear what was being said but hid behind a piece of junk that even Peli couldn’t fix.
“No droids.”
“It’ll cost ya more but fine,” Peli said before turning her head in the direction she had last seen you. “Starbird, get over here!”
Peli had given you the nickname when you told her you didn’t want to reveal your name to her, not because you couldn’t trust her but because you hadn’t heard someone say it in so long. Well...hadn’t heard someone other than Din but that would never happen again now. You had taken to wearing a scarf, covering your hair even though it wouldn’t matter, and you adjusted it as you walked over. It made you feel more secure, like you weren’t dar’manda even if you knew the truth. He wouldn’t recognize you, had never seen you without your helmet and those nights didn’t count with the pitch black of the room. As long as you didn’t speak around him, you could help Peli fix his ship and he would be gone again.
“Mando here doesn’t like droids so it’s just you and me fixing this rust bucket, got it?”
You nodded silently, ignoring the confused look your silence got you from Peli. The Mandalorian, the one you thought you had known so well, tilted his head and you could almost feel his gaze on you. You and Peli move towards the ship to take note of the obvious damage and you can’t help but cringe when you finally see how bad of a shape it is.
“If I didn’t know better, I’d think you were in a shootout and you have a fuel leak!” Peli kept muttering to herself as she found more and more things wrong with the Razor Crest. You pointed out a few more things to her, still keeping your mouth shut. “This ship is a mess, the fact you were even able to land it! This is gonna set you back.”
“All I have is 500 Imperial credits.” The Mandalorian held the credits out and Peli wasted no time snatching them away from him. “That’s all you got? What do you think, Birdie?”
You shrugged and held a hand out, palm facing the ground as you tilted it from side to side. It was going to take a hell of a lot more credits to fix up the Crest, the fact that it was pre-Imperial making it even harder to find spare parts.
“Well then, this should at least cover the hangar.”
“I’ll get you your money,” The Mandalorian said bluntly, but you could just about hear the desperation beneath the vocoder in his helmet. You were taken aback, had never heard him sound like that before.
“Hmm, we’ve heard that before.”
“Just remember…”
“Yeah, no droids. I heard ya, you don’t have to say it twice.” Peli watched as the Mandalorian walked away before letting out a scoff. “Womp rat.”
Peli sat with the droids, starting up a card game with them, dealing you in without asking. You let out a sigh because she knew how kriffing bad you were at every card game.
“What was that?” You asked, staring at the gangway of the Crest as a loud shriek echoed from the Crest.
“Oh so you are gonna speak today?”
“Sorry, I just-”
Peli cut you off, “Nope, I said I wouldn’t ask questions when I hired you and I meant it.”
You were about to thank Peli for being so understanding when you both hear a cry coming from inside the ship. Peli turned to the droids, “Shh, quick, grab my blaster rifle.”
“Peli, I don’t think you’ll need it.”
“Better safe than sorry, who knows what he has on that rustbucket.” The two of you inched closer to the Crest slowly, Peli with a trigger finger ready to go. “I’d stay in that ship if I were you!”
The tiniest creature you had ever seen started walking down the gangway, smoke and dust getting in its eyes. You let out a gasp, bringing up a hand to cover your mouth when it dropped open. Peli looked at you confused but lowered the blaster rifle, there was no way this...thing was a threat. The little thing let out a coo and looked at you both with its sad eyes. You couldn’t help but move forward to pick it up when it raised his hands in the air.
“Oh honey, did he leave you all alone on the ship?” You asked it, cradling it in your arms before looking up at an equally confused Peli. You gave her a shrug, unsure what else to do. She moved closer and looked into the child’s big eyes and was stumped.
“Would you like some food? Are you hungry?” The child seemed to like that idea, letting out a loud coo as his little stomach growled. Peli turned to the closest droid. “Fetch us something to eat, quick!”
“Maybe something with bones in it,” you added when you caught sight of his little teeth. The droid took off in search of food. “Okay, so here’s the plan, little one. I’m gonna look after you until the Mandalorian gets back.”
“And then I’m gonna charge him extra for watching you, see how that works?” Peli added before heading off to do some repairs, a new pep in her step at the thought of a bigger pay day.
You couldn’t put the child down, just stunned. Was this why he had broken Guild Code? Was this tiny little thing the reason you could never go back home? If it was then more of the anger you had let fester inside of you dissipated, you couldn’t blame Din. As more time passed, the more sleepy both you and the child seemed to get which led to you telling Peli that we were going to give the child a nap. She waved you off saying that she probably would take one too, it wasn’t like you two could do anything for the ship without more credits.
You didn’t even notice when you fell asleep but a loud shout scared both you and the child awake. You let out a quiet shriek and the combination made the child start crying. “Hey, hey, hey, it’s okay. I”m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“Where is it?” You heard the Mandalorian growl to one of the droids and you walked as fast as you could to where he was.
“He’s right here, now keep your voice down. He was taking a nap,” You tried to keep your voice steady, not only to calm the child down but also to still your beating heart. You bounced the kid in your arms a few times, staying light on your feet in order to sway a little as you tried to shush him. The Mandalorian tilted his helmet at the sound of your voice but then he realized that you were still holding the child.
“Give him to me.” He pointed at you threateningly, or at least you supposed he was trying to be threatening. It wasn’t going to work since you were so annoyed with him right now.
“No. You can’t just leave a child alone on a ship like that!” You didn’t mean to raise your voice but you did as you pointed your own finger at him. “I can’t believe someone would trust you enough to have a child with you.”
“You don’t know me.”
“Oh I know more than you think I do,” You said, glaring up at him and hoping that you were making eye contact so he knew how serious you were.
“What’s going on out here?” Peli asked, rubbing sleep from her eyes but alert nonetheless.
“Mando’s back. And he woke up the baby.” You said your last words with a glare towards that kriffing rustbucket.
“Oh well, while you were gone, I started the repair on the fuel leak while Birdie here watched the kid.” Peli gestured towards you but you paid her no mind as you made sure the kid was okay. “There were a couple of setbacks that I want to talk to you about.”
Peli kept going on about the repairs, how they took longer without the droids or your help since you were preoccupied with the child he hadn’t warned you two about. He walked into the ship and you moved back over to Peli, unsure what he was doing. He came back down with a bag and looked at you both.
“We figured you were good for it since you have an extra mouth to feed,” you said, no longer worried about speaking in front of him. He once again tilted his head at the sound of your voice.
“Thank you.” He said before walking away. You were, once again, stunned at how rude he was being. First he leaves a child alone on his ship, threatens you when he realizes you’re holding the kid, and now he’s just going to leave again. You shot a look towards Peli before you followed after him, kid still in your arms.
“You know it takes a lot for Peli to keep those droids powered up, right?”
“Hey, Mando, what do you think? Not too shabby, huh?” A new voice spoke once they were out of the spaceport. You rolled your eyes at the sound. Calican.
The Mandalorian gave the speeder bike a once over, looking over Calican in a way that made it obvious he wasn’t impressed. “What? This isn’t Corellia. Hey, Birdie, still looking good.”
You rolled your eyes at him before turning around to head back inside of Peli’s shop. Those brief seconds of speaking to Toro Calican were more than enough for you. You heard the speeders take off and knew they probably wouldn’t be back until later.
“Well now that we’re all awake, let’s get some more repairs done,” Peli said, already getting ready to do so. You joined her, placing the child on one hip in order to pass her any tools she may need. The suns went down and there was still no sign of the Mandalorian or Toro so you and Peli just kept working. There was nothing else to do. But even repairs couldn’t take forever and soon enough it was just you and your thoughts.
With no sight of either bounty hunters everyone decided to head in for the night, you kept the child with you since you knew Peli already had her hands full with the droids that were like her own children. Morning came quicker than you were prepared for knowing that the Mandalorian and Toro would probably be back soon.
Part of you knew you couldn't wait for the Mandalorian to leave the planet but another part of you, the younger and dumber part of you wished that he would recognize you before he left. You didn’t know what that would do for you, it wasn’t like he could do anything. You were dar’manda now, you could never be together again, no matter how much you missed him.
“Hey, Birdie, I’m gonna head out to the cantina for a bit. Wanna come?” Peli came out of her room, having changed into a slightly cleaner jumpsuit.
You looked down at the child in your arms before looking back up at Peli. “I’m not taking a baby to a cantina.”
“Suit yourself, and if that Mandalorian comes back while I’m gone, make sure he pays before he leaves.”
“Got it, have fun and don’t drink too much.”
“What are you, my mother?” Peli replied shortly but with a smile on her face as she left. You shook your head, a smile on your own face as you looked down at the child.
“Looks like it’s just you and me, kid.”
“Hey, Birdie.” You flinched at the sound of Toro’s voice from behind you and spun on your heel to face him. Your brow furrowed when you noticed that he was alone.
“Toro? Where’s D-- Mando?”
“About that, put that thing on the ground before I shoot you.” He was aiming his blaster at you before you could even blink.
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me. I really don’t wanna shoot you, you’re too pretty to die.”
You weighed your options and knew that it would best to listen to him and put the child down before making your move. So you did, placing him on one of the empty fuel drums that you and Peli used as a table.
“I said the ground, are you stupid?” Tora asked as he moved towards the child which is when you moved. Faster than he could react, you rushed forward and hit him with your shoulder, knocking him off balance. He didn’t lose his grip on his blaster, unfortunately, since you hadn’t been able to hit him on that side but you took advantage of his being off balance. You rolled forward and grabbed a spanner as you got back up on your feet and rushed towards Toro again. You pushed him against the Crest, hitting him with the spanner several times before he finally grabbed your arm and held it out to the side, letting you throw a punch with your other fist. You dropped the spanner without meaning to but you had another idea.
You grabbed his blaster, spinning away from him in an attempt to get him to let go of it, even throwing your head back to headbutt him. He wrapped his arms around you and picked you up, dropping you onto another fuel drum. You groaned out in pain, wishing you still had your armor, but you didn’t let go of the blaster even as he picked you back up and you two fell to the ground. You forced him up, grip still hard on the blaster as you tried to break it on a piece of metal. Kriffing Toro and spending all his credits on high end bantha shit. You heard something pop and took the chance to punch him again, followed by a quick elbow to keep him down just a little while longer while you looked for another weapon.
Where was Peli? Or Din? Was Din even still alive?
You didn’t have time to ask yourself anymore questions as Toro grabbed you by the arm, dragging you to your feet, and throwing a punch at your face. Using your arm as leverage he tossed you into the side of the Crest and you turned just in time to block another punch with your arm before bringing your knee up into his side. You put your arms around his neck and flipped both of your bodies over and onto the ground. It was getting harder to catch your breath and you had no idea Toro had that much stamina when fighting. It had been too long since you fought anyone.
You tried to get to your feet before Toro but he beat you to it, throwing several punches your way. You got up, kicking out at him just for him to grab your leg again. But it left you open to punch him yourself, one to the face and another to the stomach. He grabbed your arm, bringing up his own knee to your wrist causing you to let out a shout of pain. He put a hand around your throat but you brought your knee up to his crotch making him fall to the ground. He wasn’t unconscious though so you went for another kick, this one to the face, but he grabbed your leg and flipped you onto your back again.
Even if you wanted to, you couldn’t get back up and you felt so weak all of a sudden. Maybe it was the blood gushing from your nose or the fact that you had now been dropped onto your back twice or the ringing in your ears. Either way, Toro had won. You could hear the child crying from where you had left him, it was amazing that you two hadn’t slammed into it during the fight.
“Didn’t think you had that in you, Birdie.” Toro said as he forced you up. “That was stupid though, I was going to let you go but now...now you get to be my hostage.”
He pulled your hands behind your back, wrapping a cord around them tightly. You could feel it digging into your skin but there wasn’t anything you could do now. You willed yourself to not let him see you cry, cursing yourself for being so Maker damned emotional. “Why are you doing this, Toro?”
“Because that thing has the highest bounty I’ve heard of and Mando...well he’s worth even more with that armor.” The unspoken meaning behind his words hit you like a flash of lightning.
“No!” You thrashed in his grasp, he couldn’t. No, he couldn’t take Din’s armor, he couldn’t be like you. He couldn’t.
“Stay still or I’ll shoot you right now,” Toro growled out. You did as he said because you couldn’t help Din if you died before he made it back. He dragged you along as he went over to where you had placed the child and you winced as he picked him up roughly. As the hours passed, you grew more and more worried for Din. Toro was just getting angrier and you were scared he’d shoot first and ask questions never. You hoped Peli stayed at the cantina a little while longer.
The suns had already gone down by the time he showed up and your breathing had gotten a little more labored. You were also sure that your back was bruised to haran and back. Toro stood a little straighter, pushed you forward a step before speaking. “Took you long enough, Mando. You missed a hell of a fight.”
He shoved his blaster into the middle of your back and you walked down the gangway and into the moonlight to see Din pointing a blaster at you. Really it was on Toro but you were in the way. He took half a step back and his helmet twitched to the side when he caught sight of your face. You were sure you looked a mess, Toro hadn’t even bothered cleaning the blood off your face.
“I’m the one calling the shots now. Drop the blaster and raise ‘em.”
Din did as he was told and placed his hands behind his head. Toro pushed his blaster into your back again before undoing the cord around your wrists. “Cuff him and don’t try anything.”
You let out a quiet growl of anger but ripped the cuffs away from Toro and moved over to where Din was.
“You’re a Guild traitor, Mando.” Toro said, before pointing a gun towards the child. Your hands tightened on the cuffs. “I’m willing to bet this is the target you helped escape.”
You moved to place the cuffs on Din’s wrists when a light clink caught your attention. You looked up and saw your potential saving grace. “Oh you smart man.” You couldn’t help but whisper, only loud enough for him to hear.
“Fennec was right, bringing you in won’t just make me a member of the Guild, it’ll make me legendary.” Toro said. You pretended to shut the cuffs on Din’s wrists, shuffling them behind you as you walked out from behind Din to stand next to him. “Say, Birdie, one last thing before I shoot you.”
“What?”
“What is your real name?”
You didn’t have to answer, you could give Din a signal to set off the flash charger but you couldn’t stop yourself. “...Y/N.” You answered.
A delayed second later and Din pressed down on the flash charger and you shut your eyes before dropping to the ground and rolling behind a fuel drum. You would just get in the way now. You watched as Toro blindly shot at nothing while Din moved behind the crates to the left, popping back out in time to shoot Toro just as he turned. You rushed forward as Toro fell off the gangway, he had still been holding the child.
“Stay back.” Din’s voice was a weird mix of stoic and emotional, the vocoder in his helmet making it sound off.
“He had the child,” you said as Din leaned down to move Toro onto his back. There was no child. “Where did he go?”
You didn’t mean to cling onto Din’s arm as you both looked in every direction. A quiet babble caught your attention as the child game out from behind a couple of baskets. Your heart slowed down from its rapid pace as soon as you saw him. “Oh hun, there you are,” you said as you picked him up.
“You’re okay now,” you bounced the child a few times as Din grabbed something off Toro’s body. He came over to where you were and you pretended to be very interested in the child.
“Y/N.”
“Yes.”
“What happened?” He asked you and you weren’t sure if he meant the wounds on your face, as he reached out to oh so lightly stroke your cheek, or if he meant the fact that you had broken the Creed you both took.
“I tried to fight back, I lost.” It was true of both occasions. Din stared down at you as the child continued to babble. You still couldn’t look up from looking at the child.
“Come with me.” That got your attention, head snapping up to look at Din like he had lost his mind. You knew he could be dumb sometimes, breaking Guild Code an obvious example, but this took the uj cake.
“I can’t.”
“Why?”
“Din, you know why I can’t go with you.” The fact that he could see you, really see you should have made it clear why you couldn’t go with him.
“I don’t care.”
“You say that now but what about tomorrow, or next week, in two weeks? I’m dar’manda.”
“And it’s my fault, cyar’ika.” Din said as he moved forward, bringing his helmet down to gently rest against your forehead.
“Don’t call me that, not anymore.”
“Y/N…”
You let out a shuddery breath, blinking away the tears that threatened to rise. “Please don’t make this harder than it needs to be, you need to find somewhere safe for the child, and I cannot go with you.”
Din stared at you for one more long moment before reaching out to take the child, silently passing you the pouch he had taken from Toro. You opened it and let out a gasp, looking back up at Din in shock. He started to reach out again but stopped himself, nodded once, and turned to get back on the Crest. And you just watched him. Kept watching as the Crest took off, leaving you behind once again.
You wished you could go back to the beginning, when you had first met Din as kids with scraped knees and elbows from trying to do all the fight moves the adults could do. Growing up with each other, feelings changing until that first kiss in the pitch dark of someone’s room, you couldn’t remember whose it was. The first time you two snuck out of the covert to rent a room, tying blindfolds around your eyes in order to show how deep your love went for each other.
But you couldn’t. You never could.
hiii can i request a mark lee x female reader drabble? something where she tells mark she thinks he’s embarrassed of her because he doesn’t show any pda infront of the other members so to prove her wrong he like kisses her and stuff the next time she visits him during practice?? thank you
A/N - hey, thanks for requesting! Sorry this has taken so long to write, I’ve been so busy! I hope you enjoy 😊 also, I hope you don’t mind, but I kinda deviated a little from the plot unintentionally...
Oblivious
It had been a long and tiring day for everyone, yourself included, and all you wanted was to be able to go home and cuddle up in bed with your boyfriend.
You exhale a sigh under your breath as the guys begin practicing for what seems like the millionth time that day. The same song echoing throughout the room once again. It’s a wonder they still seem to have so much energy. Though you’ve been told before that it’s fueled by determination.
“I’m exhausted.” Mark exasperatedly sighs as he takes a seat beside you on the floor. You must have zoned out for a lot longer than you thought because you hadn’t even noticed the music stop.
“Me too. But it’ll be worth it when we have to show what we’ve come up with.” Doyoung breathlessly responds before taking a large gulp of water.
They had been working tirelessly for the last two weeks on this new routine for their next comeback. Never had you seen all the guys so stressed in your life and it’s all because they were given the opportunity to choreograph a dance and didn’t want to mess it up. You were proud of their hard work, supporting them in every way you could. It’s the least you could do.
Your eyes cast around the room, everyone taking a moment to catch their breath back before finding the last piece of strength within them to pack away their things and head home. Faint amusement creeps across your face when you notice Jungwoo laying on the floor in the centre of the room. I wonder how long it’ll take before someone jumps on top of him?
... and a second later Haechan does exactly that.
“You good?” You turn your head to face Mark after chuckling at Haechan’s childishness, meeting his gaze as he waits for an answer. Although his words seem like they care, his eyes look tired and uninterested. It almost feels like he’s saying it because he has to. But you repress that feeling for arguments sake.
“Yeah.” You smile, simultaneously reaching out to find his hand and interlace your fingers. Your smile, however, quickly fades when you sense his reluctance, catching his hand moving out of reach from the corner of your eye.
“We should get going.” Mark mumbles, avoiding eye contact by picking up his phone and shoving some things into his bag.
You watch him through a pained expression, eyebrows furrowed and bottom lip slightly jutted out in confusion. Had you done something wrong? You weren’t sure. But you know you’re not getting an answer anytime soon because Mark has already left.
You try to swallow the lump in your throat, your eyes brimmed with tears as you keep your face tilted to the ground in hopes that no one noticed Mark’s coldness towards you.
“Come on (Y/N).” Yuta shoots you a sympathetic smile before extending his hand out to pull you up. You force a meek smile back, accepting his offer by muttering a light “thank you.” But that doesn’t stop the sinking feeling in your chest.
~
You’re not sure how to act towards Mark when you get back and the whole journey you’re in your head battling over different scenarios. You’re even debating on whether to go to the dorms or go straight to your apartment. You live in the same building as the guys, hence why you’re going home with them, but it isn’t uncommon for you to head to theirs most nights so you can spend time alone with Mark. Except, tonight you’re unsure if your boyfriend would even want you there. It also doesn’t help that he chose to go in a separate car.
“He’s been acting like that with everyone.” You hear Jaehyun’s empathetic voice break the silence.
“Yeah, please don’t let it hurt you.” Your eyes flicker up to meet Taeyong’s after sending a thankful smile towards Jaehyun.
“I know.” You sigh, not feeling up to talking much. You appreciate their kind words but you feel more hurt over the fact that Mark never reciprocates your affection when others are around. All they seem to see is when he rejects your affection.
By the time you’ve reached the dorms, Mark has already been home long enough to have taken a warm shower and rinse off the day. You have to hold back your scoff and eye roll when he walks into his room with a contented expression, humming some random tune.
“You staying tonight?” He flops onto the bed, wrapping you in his arms as he tries to draw you into his chest. Oh, so now he wants affection?
“(Y/N)?” He tries to get your attention, noticing how you haven’t accepted his cuddle yet. You haven’t even taken your eyes away from your phone screen. “What’s wrong? Did one of the guys annoy you on the way home?” And that’s when you lose it, letting out the unimpressed scoff you’ve been holding in. How oblivious can he really be!
“One of the guys? You are kidding me Mark.” You force your way out of his hold, sitting up properly so he can see your stearn expression. “All week you’ve been acting off around me, everyone noticed it.” You spit, trying to hold back your emotions.
“You wouldn’t even hold my hand earlier... it’s like you’re embarrassed to be with me.” You shift your gaze away from him the second you feel a tear run down your cheek. Great. Now I’m crying.
“That’s not fair, you know how busy I’ve been.” Mark calmly responds. He doesn’t seem angry or upset, in fact it’s only annoying you more that he’s not showing any reaction at all. Does he even care?
“You know what... forget it.” You exasperatedly stand up from his bed. “You clearly aren’t that into me anymore.” You feel your chest tighten, throat going dry as you do everything you can to hold back your hurt.
“Where are you going?” Mark sends you puppy eyes. He’s scared of your next words but he doesn’t know how to stop them from being uttered.
“Just... figure out what’s really important to you.” Is all you can bring yourself to say before finally walking away.
~
Five days, almost a full week since you’ve seen Mark. Yes, he’s been calling and messaging non stop, but you’ve simply left him on read. It’s not that you don’t want to be around him anymore, you just feel hurt and need more time before you go running back to him.
Sat in a secluded corner of the cafe you enjoy some quality time to yourself. For the first time since your argument with Mark you’re feeling ok, allowing yourself to enjoy the freshly brewed coffee as you listen to the radio that’s quietly played in the background. That doesn’t last long however, an abundance of noise growing ever closer from the street outside.
Your gaze flickers towards the entrance as the door swings open and the previously calm cafe is filled with noise.
“(Y/N)!” Your breath hitches in your throat, eyes widening and posture becoming stiff upon the breathless shout of your name. Although you couldn’t see who had called for you, the voice was unmistakable.
“We got approval.” Is the first thing Mark says to you as he reaches your table. He uses it for leaverage for a moment, ducking his head down as he catches his breath back.
“Ummm...” You awkwardly manage out, consciously gazing around the room, watching as what feels like hundreds of eyes become invested in your interaction. How’d he even know you were here?
You notice Mark’s head slightly lift, peaking up at you with his adorably awkward but amused grin. It’s clear he’s just as aware of the prying and eager people intruding your moment, but he doesn’t seem to care. After all, you know he’s used to it.
“The groups routine got approved today.” Mark clarifies, finally standing up properly once again.
“Should you even be here?” You counteract, guilt filling you as you notice his smile suddenly fall.
“Oh. Well, I, just...” Mark fumbles over his words, rubbing the back of his inflamed neck in embarrassment. “I couldn’t wait to tell you.”
You simply nod, holding back your reaction. “Could we maybe go somewhere more private?”
~
“You know, while the guys were celebrating I couldn’t help but feel underwhelmed, but then I realised that it was because the only person I cared about being there to celebrate with wasn’t around...” Mark confesses, his head hanging low as he sits on the edge of his bed next to you.
“And it was all my fault that you were, are, mad at me.” He solemnly mumbles the last part.
Yes, he’d hurt your feelings. But now you know he’d never intended too, that he was just so caught up in not wanting to let his group down. You understand that.
It had taken the whole journey back to his for him to explain everything, starting at all the pressure he’d felt to the day his cold attitude had finally pushed you over the edge.
“I’m not gonna say that pushing me away didn’t hurt, because it did.” Mark lifts his gaze when you begin to speek. “But I get that you had a lot on your plate and didn’t want to be smothered.” You shoot him a comforting smile.
“I still shouldn’t have been so inconsiderate to your feelings.” He sighs.
“Just as long as you don’t do it again we’ll be fine.” You softly chuckle, your heart skipping a beat when a grin appears on Mark’s face.
“I promise.” He nods, both of you staring at each other with stupidly cheesy smiles.
~
“There you are!” Mark instantly envelops you in a tight embrace the second you step foot into their practice room. “I missed you.” He whispers, gently placing a tender kiss to your lips.
“Well, I realised I never got to properly congratulate you all.” you turn to face everyone, elated with all the affection you’re receiving from Mark.
“You’re too adorable.” Mark coo’s, spinning you back around to face him once again.
“Yuck! Get a room.” Haechan mocks, pretending to vomit. But neither you or Mark mind, and besides, it’s not a bad idea...
“Four… Five… Seven!”
“Six babe. Five, six, seven.”
“Five seven.”
In Beks smile, all Grayson could see was Indiana. As far as the rest of his daughter, she looked just like him. Brown hair, brown eyes, even the same little dimple. But her smile, and the feeling it gave him in his gut? That was all Indiana. His wife, who was unfortunately still pacing a bit in the terminal, a coffee in her hands.
As soon as she realized that they were back from their walk, she perked up, putting on her brave face for Beks so she didn’t think anything was wrong.
“Mama! Hi mama!”
“Hi sweet girl.” She held her hands out for her daughter, smiling when she gleefully reached for her. Grayson passed her over without a hesitation. As little as their almost three year old was, she was her mom’s biggest anchor when things got hard.
“You okay?” He asked it quietly while Beks was distracted, twirling a piece of her mom’s hair around her little fingers.
Indy looked at the clock. 5 minutes till boarding.
Her face was enough of an answer for her husband, and he frowned.
“Nauseous?”
She nodded.
“We’ll be okay,” he offered, reaching out for her free hand to squeeze it and trace a heart. It relaxed her a tiny bit, but she still bit her lip.
“My whole world is about to be in a plane, out of my control.” She turned her head to kiss Bekah’s hair. “She’s so small. Nothing I could do if…”
“Hey, hey none of that. You know what Bethany says about the doomsday stuff.”
“Unhelpful, unlikely and unproductive.” Indy whispered her therapists words back to herself, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. She’d gotten better about flying, accomplished things she never thought she would. Charlie and Devin’s wedding in Oregon, her own wedding in Maui, flying back and forth to see Lisa, trips to Australia even. But things changed when she got pregnant. Now, her heart lived outside of her body, in a tiny almost toddler who was as content as could be on her hip. The flight to Jersey had been decent, but the way home seemed like an impossible hurtle.
“It’ll all be over in a few hours. And then we’ll be home, back to our bed and our house.” Grayson wished he could fix it, wished he could take it on himself. But all he could really do was squeeze her hand and stay calm.
Indy nodded, but when the gate attendant came over the intercom she felt like she could vomit right there. She silently passed Beks over to Grayson and fumbled for their boarding passes with shaky hands.
“Plane daddy! There’s a plane!” Bekah smiled, pointing out the window as another aircraft taxied by.
“Yeah! It’s big, isn’t it,” Grayson tickled her belly and kissed her cheek as he readjusted the diaper bag over his shoulder and headed into the boarding lane behind Indy. They made their way down the jet bridge and into first class, Indy moving to the window seat and immediately holding out her hands for Bekah. They’d been blessed with a very happy baby who was content most of the time as long as she had a familiar face with her. She sat on Indy’s lap and played with the necklace she had on, rubbing at her eyes with the other hand.
“You tired bubba?” Grayson sat down and ran a hand over her back. Beks nodded slowly. “Here, c’mere, give momma a break.”
Indy passed her back over, melting like she always did when Bekah leaned forward onto Grayson’s chest, relaxing fully in the safety of his arms. She loved nothing more than seeing the father he was to their little girl. It was more than she could have ever asked for, and she watched as he moved her just enough to get his seatbelt on, knowing she would be asleep in a few minutes.
He hummed to her quietly, moving a hand over her ear to quiet the inevitable announcements from the flight attendants, and Indy watched as her eyes fluttered closed, long eyelashes resting on pink cheeks.
“Is she out?” Grayson dared to ask after a few minutes.
Indy nodded, her eyes burning a bit as she fought back tears. Bekah just looked so small, and fragile, and the plane was moving and she felt like she couldn’t control anything, not even her emotions.
“Do you want to hold her? Would that help?”
“No, she’s comfy it’s okay, I don’t want to wake her up,” Indy whispered, shaking her head. Even still, she stretched a hand over into Grayson’s seat, trying to catch her breath and focus on the feeling of his hand in hers, his wedding ring cold against her fingers. She looked at him, tried to lose herself in him the way she always had. He looked the same as that first day outside of Frazier, with a healthy amount of scruff. His hair was a bit shorter than it was then - Lisa always gave him a good haircut when he was in town. But his smile was still the same, and his eyes just as warm when he looked back into hers.
“Breathe baby. I’m right here, we’re gonna be there before you know it. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
She willed herself to believe him and put a headphone in her ear, started her playlist and closed her eyes as the plane moved towards the runway and her daughter slept.
Things were slightly better once they got into the air. It didn’t surprise her that Grayson fell asleep within the first hour. She could tell he was fighting his eyelids as he tried to stay awake in case she needed him, but the warmth and weight of Beks was enough to lull him off. The way she knew for sure was when his thumb stopped rubbing against the back of her hand. Indy didn’t mind - if he wasn’t awake he wasn’t worrying about her at least She took the time to look at them - really look at them for a while. Bekah was so active, always exploring and getting into things. It made moments like these rare, especially as she got older. She’d never understood what her mom had meant, when she said her heart had grown two sizes to accommodate her and Charlie.
In all those months after they got back together, she had thought it was impossible to love someone as much, or more, than she loved Grayson. She proved herself wrong after he became her husband, and again when they found out they were having a baby, a girl. Her love for him grew even more while she was pregnant. And then Bekah Nicole Dolan had entered the picture, and their lives had never been the same. It felt like just yesterday that she was watching Grayson cry in the hospital room, holding his baby girl for the first time. Since then there were two birthday parties, almost three years of watching her grow into herself, watching her learn, watching her develop her own little personality. She was Indy’s new favorite thing to study, and she kept herself busy for most of the flight looking through old pictures on her phone. It calmed her more than she thought it would, and kept her occupied until Beks woke up from her nap.
It was a nice distraction for her to focus on keeping her daughter entertained and happy once she maneuvered her out of Grayson’s lap. They colored after Indy fished the coloring book and crayons out from her bag, and they looked at pictures, and watched out the window, Bekah asking “what dat?” over and over again at all the things she could see on the ground.
The flight attendants message to prepare for landing was what finally woke Grayson up from his slumber, and his bleary eyes were immediately guilty.
“You should have woken me up,” he pouted, already looking her over for any sign of her anxious habits.
“We’re okay. I got a handle on it. Glad you’re awake for landing though,” she reassured him, reaching a hand out for his again. He happily took it, and smiled when Bekah leaned over to put her hand on top of theirs, always wanting to be involved. The landing was smooth, and Indy took her first truly relaxed breath in hours once the plane stopped moving at the gate. Bekah felt it, felt her chest rise and fall so dramatically that she turned and smiled up at her.
“Breathe mama,” she said, just like her dad always did. “Big breaf.” Her ‘th’ sounds were still f’s, and Indy selfishly hoped they stayed that way for a while longer. She over exaggerated her next breath so Beks could feel it. It satisfied her enough it seemed, and she held Grayson’s hand as they walked off the plane and into the airport. Grayson’s back hurt by the time they made it to baggage claim from the way he was crouched over to keep his hand in hers, but she was determined to do it herself and keep him close.
All that went out the window when she saw who was waiting for her by the baggage carousel.
“UNCLE ETEE!”
Ethan smiled his widest smile and crouched down with his arms open, ready to catch her as she ran as fast as her little legs would take her. He caught her and tossed her up in the air just to hear her giggle.
“Hi bug! How was Jersey?”
“Good! I saw Grandma Lisa and daddy showed me a waterfall and we stayed in the other house and momma made pancakes. Where’s Miles?” Her attention jumped around like a pinball in the machine, but she looked down to Ethan’s left side where there was usually a very cute five year old.
“He’s home taking care of Aunt Eden, making sure little Maisie isn’t giving her too much trouble.”
“Is she still in her belly?”
“Yeah bug, for a little while longer. But, she missed you so much that she wants everybody to come out to the beach for a little while before it gets dark. And if mommy and daddy are too tired, you can just come with us.”
Indiana wanted to cry. She knew what her brother was doing - giving her an out in case the flight had gone badly, a chance to recuperate if need be. Truth be told, she was still nauseous, but her nerves had settled and the thought of seeing Eden and her nephew were too good to pass up. She’d missed them despite only being gone for a few days.
“We’ll all go, just gotta get changed at the house first,” Indy said, and she felt Grayson perk up beside her, somewhat surprised by her answer.
“Alrighty then, let’s roll.” Ethan led the way with Beks on his hip, Grayson managing most of the bags on the way out to the car. Things had gotten better since they’d traveled with Beks as an infant - less equipment required for a toddler, especially one who was easily entertained by her parents.
Before they knew it Beks was in her car seat, thrilled that her dad climbed into the backseat to ‘hang out’ with her while he gave his wife shotgun. Ethan played Cudi, the clean versions, and everyone in the car sang along, even if Bekah was mostly just humming and kicking her feet.
It took about 30 minutes to get to the main gate of the houses. Indy could still remember the first time she’d been in a car pulling up to the same spot. Things were a bit different now - they’d bought out their neighbors house when it went up for sale, tore down the fences and made it all one big backyard with each of the couples in their own space. E squared kept the original house - it’s where they’d raised Miles after all. Indy had enjoyed getting to make the new house her own. It wasn’t lost on her that it was the bigger of the two, with Grayson’s dream of a big family always at the back of his mind.
It was on Indy’s too, especially when she saw Eden waiting on the porch of their house, her bump on full display, framed out by her bikini and cover up. Maisie Rae Dolan was due in two months, and the whole crew was counting down the days until her arrival, none more so than her mother.
Miles came around the corner at full speed once the car stopped, running around the car to find the only one he ever looked for. Grayson couldn’t get her out of her carseat fast enough, but as soon as Beks was on the ground Miles was hugging her.
“Hi best friend!” Bekah said as soon as her face wasn’t buried in his shirt.
“Hi! I missed you! Daddy helped me make a countdown and I counted all the days until you came back and now you’re here! Do you wanna see it?!”
“Yeah!”
Grayson had to catch the two of them before they went barrelling towards the house.
“Hold on guys, if we wanna make it to the beach early enough to get into the water we all need to get changed and packed up. We’ll see you there Mi, okay?”
Miles nodded once, then immediately turned to Ethan.
“Dad, can I ride with Uncle Grayson and Aunt Indy?”
“They just got back babe, gotta give them a minute to settle in. But, if mom’s up for it we can go early and look for some shells, okay?”
He threw a wink to Grayson as he unloaded the bags. Meanwhile, Indy was on the porch, catching up with Eden.
“Any changes? Contractions or anything?”
“Other than her kicking my spleen every five minutes and sitting on my bladder like a throne, we’re golden.”
She didn’t look golden. In fact, she looked exhausted.
“Miles wearing you out?”
All she had to do was look at her and Indy was laughing.
“Whenever you need us to take him, just send him over.”
“You act as if you too do not have a child that wears you out.”
The pair looked over at their husbands, and their kids. Miles was attempting to climb the tree in the front yard, which was his new found mission he’d been working on. Ethan stood guard below, shifting back and forth to catch his son in case he lost his balance trying to maneuver the first main branch.
Meanwhile, Beks was picking flowers one by one and holding them in her fist. Indy watched as she carried her mini bouquet over to Grayson and held it out proudly. They watched as she stuck her tongue out in concentration while she tucked one behind her dad’s ear.
“Yeah… so whenever you need us to take him, just send him over,” Indy repeated with a laugh that Eden quickly joined in on, holding her bump with her hands.
“Go get settled, if Beks gets ancy we can load her up with us.”
“She should be fine, we hate unpacking night of anyways. We’ll see you in a little while.”
She was halfway across the lawn before Eden called after her.
“Oh! Before I forget, I had some extra stuff lying around that definitely won’t fit for a while, or ever, after this one -” she pointed to her stomach. “I left them and some other stuff for you in your closet. Anything you don’t want just bring it back and I’ll throw it in the donation pile.”
Indy threw her a thumbs up and rounded up Beks, headed back to their house. She could breathe easier as soon as she was inside the familiar walls. Their house was modern, but every space was warmed by something personal, most of which was made by Grayson. With the transition away from social media and into behind the scenes production, he had more time to build and perfect his craft. Family touches were everywhere as well, from the picture frame on the coffee table from last christmas to the booster seat in the kitchen table chair where they all sat to eat dinner every night. Indy’s work badge was still on the counter, with the nemo sticker that covered her last name so no one could look her up and realize just who she was married to. But below it you could still read the name of the pediatric hospital she called home.
All those thoughts were fleeting though, considering Beks was on a mission to get to the beach.
“I’ll get her ready if you pack the beach bag?” Grayson offered. Indy smiled and nodded, heading back into the bedroom to get changed herself. When she got to her closet, she found the pile of things from Eden - some of her tighter dresses, jean shorts, bikinis, a few bottles of perfume with a note scribbled, smell makes me sick now. Fml. Beside that was a box with a note; pregnancy tests, won’t be needing these anytime soon… hopefully lmao.
Indy rolled her eyes and laughed to herself, putting everything away in its right spot and pulling out a nice bikini from the stack to throw on. She grabbed one of Grayson’s long sleeve shirts to put on over it before she headed back out. The bag was mostly prepped already with the essentials - the beach was a common Dolan outing after all. All she had to add was towels and a sandwich for Beks in case she got hungry.
Food was the last thing on Bekah’s mind it seemed when she came down the hall, already asking if it was time to go. Indy wasn’t one to brag, but her daughter had to be up there with the cutest babies of all time, especially in her custom 2T sized spread positivity hoodie over her bathing suit and tiny chaco sandals. Her hair was still in the tiny space buns that Indy had put them in earlier, only adding to the way she was making her melt.
Indy loaded up the car while Grayson threw on a speedo and regular shorts to cover up with, not bothering with a shirt. Indy preferred it that way - she enjoyed the view, which she had plenty of time to admire from the passenger seat once they were on the road. Grayson held her hand, looking like a Raybans model in his sunglasses, tattoos on full display as he drove. Her favorite was still the forever scribbled out across his ribs, especially with the script right below it. Bekah Nicole. His daughter's name.
It still amazed Indy how lucky she was, to have the life that she did, to have found the love that she had. It took her breath away at times, made her stomach feel like it was floating when she remembered that the man beside her was hers, forever. She turned around the check on Beks, who was telling a story that made no sense, although Grayson was acting like he understood every single word. Their perfect little girl. Even then, she would still tear up if she looked at her for too long.
The secret beach, somehow, still seemed to be their little secret. There were a few couples, but it was mostly empty apart from the other Dolan family that had beat them there. Grayson followed close behind Bekah as she ran through the sand towards Miles.
“Now remember, you have to flip them over and if you even think there might be a hermit grab in there, you put it back because that's his home,” Ethan was informing his son when they reached the group. Eden was already lounged out in a chair, feet buried in the sand and hand absentmindedly rubbing over her bump. She peeked an eye open when she heard Indy start setting up beside her, looking to check on her son before she relaxed back down.
“Momma? You take me in the waves? Pleaseeeee,” Bekah asked before Indy could sit.
“Sure babe,” she smiled, pulling her shirt off quickly before scooping up her daughter and heading towards the water. Grayson wasn’t far behind them, ever the protector, wanting to be close by in case they needed anything.
The water was chilly against Indy’s toes when she got into the break, and she bent down to let Beks stand in the frothy tide. As soon as the water got her feet she squealed, spinning around and reaching up.
“S’cold momma!”
Indy laughed and picked her back up, unsurprised to see Miles and Ethan headed down the beach towards them, undoubtedly with the same idea. She was glad Eden was getting some much needed rest time, so she grinned and bared the cold water on her stomach as she got deeper in, jumping dramatically as the waves came through just to get a giggle out of her daughter. Grayson joined in on the fun, taking his turn to toss Beks up into the air and catch her with a splash and kisses all over her cheeks. They kept playing until the dad’s arms were sore, seeing that Miles wanted in on the fun, and the sun was beginning to set. Beks was cold by the time they made it back to the chairs, and Grayson immediately wrapped her up in a towel and snuggled her up against him, resting his cheek on the top of her head as she curled into his chest.
Indy put her own towel over her shoulders, and the warmth of it was almost enough to have her lulling off to sleep. She fought it off, catching up with Ethan while Eden got Miles ready to go. The kids were wiped, and with a day of travel under her belt Beks was asleep on her dad’s shoulder before they even made it to the tesla.
“Watch this,” he whispered, showing off his skills of placing her in her seat without waking her up. It was impressive, truly, but even more so was the fact that he drove carefully enough through all the traffic on the way that she was still dreaming peacefully when they got home.
“We have to wake her up to get her changed,” he pouted, not wanting to disturb her after the day she’d had.
“I got it. You start on dinner, I’m fucking starving.”
“Deal,” he grinned, leaning across the console to kiss her quickly before getting out. Indy exited the passenger side, opening up Beks door and talking to her quietly until her eyes opened, blinking wide and confused.
“You’re okay babe, we’re home.”
Indy soaked up the cuddles from her groggy daughter on the way into the house. She didn’t bother with anything else - they’d do a bath first thing in the morning. Instead, she moved to the ocean nursery, changing Beks quickly into a fresh diaper and pj’s before laying her down in her bed underneath the jellyfish Eden had helped design for the wall. She kissed her forehead and rubbed her back until she lulled back down, exhausted from the excitement of the day.
Indy felt salty, her skin tight from the water, but she didn’t have the energy to shower. Instead, she headed into her room and grabbed another one of Grayson’s shirts along with some running shorts, taking them into the bathroom with her to get changed.
The cabinet was still slightly open, and she reached down to close it when she saw it. A box of tampons - unopened. It took a minute for her to do the math, and she wasn’t 100% on if she was late or not, but that familiar knot tied in her stomach when she was unsure. Quietly, she locked the door and rummaged around for the pregnancy tests she’d just hidden away.
In the kitchen, Grayson was humming to himself as he strained the noodles for the mac and cheese - two boxes in fact, considering how hungry Indy said she was. The fridge was low considering they’d just gotten back, but he managed to scrounge up some fresh-enough fruit to cut up and put on a plate on the counter.
Indy came back into the kitchen so quietly that he barely noticed as he was stirring in the vegan cheese.
“Jeez Dee, you scared me,” he teased, pulling her in for a hug. “How yah feeling?”
“Exhausted,” she mumbled, relaxing in his hold and melting into his chest. He loved when she did that, let him hold her after a long day. He didn’t pull away until she did, the smell of mac and cheese luring her away.
Grayson took her hips with his hands and helped boost her up onto the counter, passing her the bowl he’d made for her. They ate quickly and quietly, the idea of curling up in bed more and more appealing as the carbs started to settle into their systems. When they’d cleared their bowls Indy moved to the sink, only for Grayson to shake his head.
“I got it. Go get in bed, you had a hell of a day.”
She sighed, kissing his bare shoulder once before getting up on her tiptoes to ask for a real one. He obliged her, bending down to catch her lips with his. “Love you,” she murmured, running her fingers over his back as she walked towards their room. She peaked in on Beks to make sure she was still out before she headed back to the bedroom, pulling out the test that she’d tucked away in her waistband.
She blinked three times, hard.
Two lines. Two very dark lines.
“Holy shit.”
Emotions raced through her so fast she couldn’t catch a single one to give it a name. She barely had it together enough to hide it behind her back when Grayson walked in a few minutes later seemingly unfazed.
“I’m gonna shower real quick, you wanna join?” He offered, looking down into his dresser drawers for a pair of boxers.
“Uh, yeah, yeah I’ll join but can you do me a favor really quick?”
“Hmm,” he asked, turning towards her.
She held out the test in her shaky hand.
“Can you add this to the shelf?”
The shelf itself was on the wall beside him. All the old pictures had made their way over to the new house with some new additions, including the positive test that had told them they were having Beks, her ultrasound, her first birthday party.
It took Grayson a moment to process, and then his hands were shaking too as he took the small stick and looked at it through his blurry eyes.
“Really?”
“Really.”
“For real?”
“For real.”
“We’re having another baby.”
“Yep.”
“Another Beks.”
“Yep.”
“Holy shit.”
“Yep.”
“Holy fuck!” The excitement finally broke through the shock, and before she could move Grayson’s arms were around his wife, spinning her around as he buried his face in her neck.
“You’re pregnant. We’re having another baby.”
“It doesn’t feel real yet. I just took the test before dinner.” Indy’s eyes were watery, her hand automatically going over her stomach.
“It will. It’ll fly by, just like with Beks. Holy fuck, I’m so excited. I love you so much.”
“I love you more,” she whispered, pulling him to her again for another hug.
“Not possible,” he said, shaking his head and kissing her shoulder.
“Well, I love you forever then. I love our family, forever.”
Grayson couldn’t find the words. Instead, he just kissed her, forever grateful for every moment that had led him to right there, his whole world and future under one roof - everything he’d dreamed of within his hands.
Hiii! Can you write a headcanon or scenario (whichever you're more comfortable with) of how Katsuki, Hawks and Todoroki would comfort their s/o, who is terrified of loud noises, during a thunderstorm. I'm not sure of how many characters you do per request, but if you only do 1 can you choose Katsuki 😅 Thank you~
Bakugou, Hawks, and Todoroki Comforting Their S/O During a Thunderstorm
first request!!! i hope you like it ♡ i did bullet points because i intended to do headcanons to start off simple, but they’re sort of scenario-ish? i think i might turn these into full blown scenarios one day so look out for that ;)
Bakugou Katsuki
It’s the first time you’re staying over at his place and there’s a storm raging outside. What had originally began as a light patter of rain had now turned into a downpour, and things seemed to be taking a turn for the worst as you caught sight of a lightning flash outside. You were bracing yourself for the loud thunder that usually accompanied it.
Somehow you had convinced Katsuki to make a blanket fort with you, taunting him that he probably sucked at it, and of course he had taken the challenge, so now you had an awesome blanket fort to cozy up in.
While you’re getting all comfortable among the blankets and pillows, thinking about what movie the two of should watch, Katsuki was in the kitchen getting snacks.
A sudden crack of thunder caused you to yelp and burrow down into the blankets, and he peeked his head out of the kitchen to see why you had made that noise.
“(Y/N)? What’s wrong? Don’t tell me you knocked down the fort again, I fucking swear to God.” Oops, yeah, you had knocked it down a few times before, but of course he always rebuilt it for you. ♡♡♡
But when you didn’t immediately reply this time, he grew pretty concerned. He pretended to be annoyed that he had to leave the kitchen to come check on you, but secretly he was also really worried, especially once he heard your quiet whimpers the closer he got to the fort.
Cautiously, Katsuki moved one of the blankets that was in his way since it was functioning as the “entrance” to the fort (half expecting you to jump out and surprise him—he had learned after the first time you could not be trusted to not try to prank him), and looked inside, confused by the shaking pile of blankets that had small sobs coming from it.
Eventually he would manage to coax you out enough to tell him what was wrong and once you told him, he would try to play it off as a little silly (after all, he’s used to loud noises from the explosions he’s constantly making so it doesn’t seem as big a deal to him), but you could tell he didn’t really mean it—he just didn’t want to give in so easily to your demands for cuddles.
Just use your puppy eyes on him and his arms will be wrapped around you within seconds, although he’ll be grumbling about how stupid this is and how he can’t believe you made him abandon getting the snacks just for this (all while still pulling you closer to him because he likes your warmth of course).
Somehow he’ll force you let go of him enough that he can finish getting the snacks (he struggled very hard to pull your arms off, but of course this man is stubborn and wants his snacks so you have to agree to this one thing for now), and tells you just to wait for him and stop being so pouty because he’s coming back in literally five minutes (of course the pout is cute to him but like... he can’t let you know that).
When he comes back, you instantly tackle him back into a hug, and you guys stay that way for the rest of the night. He lets you choose the movie, even if it’s some romantic thing he couldn’t care less about, and makes sure it’s something that’ll cheer you up (so probably no horror because as much as he likes when you get scared during them and cling to him, you’re already doing that right now so no need to scare you more).
He’ll pile up more blankets because they’ll muffle the sound of thunder (he says he’s just improving his fort and it’s totally not for your benefit or anything) and turn up the volume for the movie to drown out most of the noise.
He’ll let you bury you face in his chest if you want and playfully cover your ears sometimes to tease you and ask if that helps.
Thunderstorms with Katsuki would involve him allowing lots of physical contact (way more than usual) if that’s what comforts you, him trying to distract you because he’s not too good with offering soothing words so he hopes his actions help, and him grumbling a lot about the whole thing, although you’re used to his attitude since you love him so much, so it’s actually pretty endearing because you can tell he’s really trying.
Plus of course you feel really safe in his arms, especially when he says that if the thunder was a person he’d totally beat their ass for you.
Takami Keigo (Hawks)
“Hey, um, sorry to bother you, but could you come over?” You had called your boyfriend while you were buried under the sheets in your bed, too scared to move and trembling as you waited for the next spine-chilling crack of thunder to erupt.
“Didn’t know you missed me that much, babe.~” You could practically hear Keigo suggestively wiggling his eyebrows over the phone as he purred that.
“Don’t get ahead of yourself,” you replied exasperatedly, used to his flirting, but unable to keep a playful smile from tugging at your lips, “you know-” You didn’t get to finish your sentence before the sound of thunder filled your ears and you yelped, shrieking into the phone and dropping it out of surprise.
You could hear Keigo’s muffled voice asking if you were okay and you used that to help you find your phone, fumbling around in the sheets where it had gotten lost.
You eventually found it and pressed it back to your ear, wanting to hear his reassuring voice to calm yourself down.
After explaining what had happened, a slight tremor still in your voice, Keigo would immediately agree to come over.
You felt bad about making him go out in the rain just for your benefit but he assured you it was fine because it wasn’t that far, plus it was a “hero’s job” as he put it.
Keigo suggested you stay on the phone with him so he could talk to you to try and help until he got there.
You waited anxiously for him, but it helped a little bit to focus on talking to him on the phone.
When he arrived, he let himself in, since you had given each other keys to your houses so both of you could stop by whenever one of you wanted, and found a shivering pile of blankets on your bed. When he called out for you and you peeked your head over your blanket, he couldn’t help but smile because you looked so cute like that.
Since you guys stay the night with each sometimes, you also had overnight clothes and other things at each other’s place, so he grabbed a pair of comfy pajamas he had left in your room and quickly changed into them so he didn’t get your bed dirty with the clothes he had just been outside with, and climbed into bed next to you, immediately engulfing you in his arms despite your protests.
Cue snuggle fest. ♡
Expect to spend the rest of the night under the covers with him and him refusing to let you go because he wants to protect you. He’ll talk to you throughout the night about any random thing you want, making lighthearted jokes here and there, and pull you closer when he hears the thunder before you can even ask him to, peppering your face with kisses constantly.
Keigo would be down to come over whenever you wanted him to and if the weather forecast that day predicted thunderstorms, expect him to show up at your door ready to spend the night, or even come home to him already on your couch, having let himself in yet again.
We all know how much he loves to have free time from his hero duties so you don’t have to worry about him being too busy to come over, and in fact you’ll probably have to convince him you’ll be fine and that the light rain the news predicted wouldn’t scare you too much (he doesn’t care and will insist he wants to spend time with his baby no matter what though ♡).
Todoroki Shouto
You and Shouto had planned to hang out together today and you invited him over to spend the night. The rain had been light that afternoon, so when he showed up at your door, his hair was lightly dripping with water as he gave you a small, sweet smile, and an umbrella was at his side. He honestly looked really cute like that.
You quickly encouraged him to go take a shower and change into warm clothes so he wouldn’t get sick and he thanked you as he headed off to do just that.
While he was gone, you called up a nearby pizza place to order so you guys would have something to eat since you had a whole bunch of plans for the evening and the jam packed schedule left no time for you guys to waste cooking.
After you did that, you just lounged around waiting for Shouto to come back.
Except the rain started getting harder and you were getting pretty worried.
You went to the window to watch the lightning even though you know there would likely be thunder as well that would scare you, but you just couldn’t seem to tear yourself away from watching the rain pouring down outside. It was like you were torturing yourself, but also you wanted to watch for some strange reason.
Shouto eventually finished up with his shower and got dressed in the clothes he had brought with him in his overnight bag. He walked out of the bathroom with a small towel slung around his shoulders and his hair still a slightly damp with little water droplets on it just as before, except this time it wasn’t the freezing cold rain that was to blame for it. He called out to you, but you didn’t answer, so he walked out into the living room to see if you were busy doing something and just didn’t hear him.
Shouto instantly noticed you nervously peeking out of the window and came up behind you.
“(Y/N)?” He placed a hand on your shoulder to get your attention, but when you jumped out of surprise at his touch, he immediately took his hand away and began apologizing.
You turned around to see who it was and couldn’t help but laugh at his apologetic expression. You told him it was fine with a smile, just that you had gotten a little startled when he accidentally snuck up on you, and when he asked why you had been so on edge, your expression fell a little and you looked down, too embarrassed to look him in the eye.
He gently caressed your face and carefully brought it back up so he could look at you, assuring you that it would be fine no matter what the problem was.
When you told him the reason you were so scared, he smiled, glad it wasn’t anything too serious, and told you that it was nothing to be ashamed of as he led you over to the couch so you guys could cuddle together. Whenever the thunder sounded outside, he would press a kiss to the top of your head or to your forehead and stroke your hair, asking if you were okay.
If he saw you keep glancing over at the window, he would get up and close the blinds so you wouldn’t have to worry about what was going on outside. Plus, you guys had a bunch of games and movies you wanted to get through as part of your sleepover, so he distracted you with those activities, giving you soft smiles and comforting you whenever you needed. He didn’t mind if you wanted to snuggle closer to him or hold his hand, and would rub soothing circles on your back if you were hugging or on the back of your hand if your hands were just resting on top of each other. He would even use his quirk to adjust his body temperature just how you like it.
Definitely expect sleepovers with him to become more common because it was so nice spending time with you just doing mundane, fun things to pass the time, plus you were so cute like this and he loved the feeling of protecting you. Lots of skinship and soft touches as he tries to constantly soothe you and let you know that he was there for you. He would try his best to make sure that one part of each of you was always touching throughout the evening for comfort, even if one of you was just leaning your head on the other’s shoulder, or even just him having his arm around your shoulders as you watched something on T.V. together.
He was getting so attuned to the thunder sounds so that he could be more aware of when he needed to comfort you, since usually he just tried to tune that sort of thing out because it didn’t bother him, that when your doorbell rang and the pizza guy announced his arrival, Shouto actually jumped a little in his seat out of surprise. You giggled at that and he couldn’t head but smile at the sight as he bashfully admitted that maybe he got a little spooked by something so simple. His heart swelled at the sight of seeing you so happy, since you had been trembling in fear just moments before, and he felt warm all over. Even as he volunteered to go get the pizza, and opened the door to take it and pay, he couldn’t stop smiling and felt like he couldn’t get back to you soon enough so you guys could sit down and eat together and go back to talking and playing around.
Growing Close
Kai Parker x Female Reader/Character
Word Count: 1994 (ironic, lol)
Warnings: typical tvd themes, S.Assault mentions/details, trauma themes, surgery, blood (it’s a little gruesome but I cope through writing, so just be warned it can be triggering)
Summary: Kai and V grew pretty close over the weeks. Something happens to V and he is forced to handle it like a human.
***since y’all like the one shots better than the series, I’m gonna write one shots for female readers under the name V for what I would’ve/will write in the series***
It has been a few weeks since Kai and V kissed. They grew closer in their own way. Neither of them wanted to admit their feelings for each other, they honestly didn’t know how to identify or describe those feelings anyways. All they both knew is that they wanted to be near each other always.
They started doing more things together. Instead of telling the other where they’d be in case something happened, they’d go together. They’d eat, drink, and just hang out together almost all the time. They still liked pushing each other’s boundaries, but now they were more comfortable doing it more intensely.
V liked to watch Kai get flustered when she’d walk out of the bathroom in nothing but a towel and change in front of him, claiming it was what they did in her world so he shouldn’t worry about it. Kai liked to push boundaries with physical touch. He’d always be touching her in some way – surprise hugs from behind, “accidental” grazes and bumps, losing all concept of personal space.
Neither of them minded, but neither of them wanted to make an actual move on each other either.
Those few weeks were the best weeks either of them has had in a long time. There were no real expectations, no fights being had, nobody’s life to save… just vibes.
V left in the middle of the night one night and left Kai a note saying her friend called and that she’d be back in a few hours. When Kai woke up in the morning and saw the note but didn’t see her, he worried.
Kai called her friend and was told V never showed up, so he began searching town for any leads, coming up empty on each one before deciding to call it a night and try again early the next morning.
He didn’t know what to feel. He started off worried that something had happened, but as more and more leads turned out to be dead ends, he thought she might have left for good, and his emotions became unsettling.
He was proved wrong though. As he was dozing off he heard somebody fumbling with the door of the motel room and got up to investigate before V came through it, half asleep and looking like hell. She opened the door and took two grumbled steps inside before her knees buckled and Kai caught her by placing an arm around her waist, kneeling down with her and pushing the door closed.
He got down on one knee to lay her head on and tried to wake her up, but she wouldn’t. She was breathing, and her heart was beating, it just seemed as though she was in a deep sleep Kai couldn’t understand.
A thousand possibilities raced through his mind. He saw her messy hair and bruises on her skin, but it still didn’t explain why she was asleep. He thought maybe something magic happened at first, so he tried to reverse it with no avail.
That’s when he carried her into the bathroom fireman style, thinking that putting her in the shower and turning the water on would wake her up like it does in the movies.
When they got into the bathroom, he got a glimpse of the back of her legs where her skirt wasn’t covering, and it all made more sense. He saw bruises in the shapes of bites and handprints, and realized that she wasn’t being attacked with magic, she was being attacked by regular people and rufies, and he became more frantic to get her conscious.
He didn’t know what to do. He had never experienced anything like this. He stuck to his shower theory and got in with her with all of their clothes on, pleading with her to wake up and tell him what happened, saying that he’s sorry and he should have been with her to prevent anything from happening.
His theory proved him wrong, she didn’t wake up in the 30 minutes he had sat there with her waiting, so he decided she should sleep it off. He took just her shirt and skirt off and wrapped her in a robe so she wouldn’t sleep in totally wet clothes. For what felt like days, he laid next to her waiting for her to wake up.
This had been the only time Kai could actually get inside of her mind; she was in a fragile state. He could see inside her mind and saw exactly what had happened. Instead of letting her remember everything, he modified her memories to make her believe she had gone for a walk, got into a fight, and came back with the bruises she had. He figured she would like that memory better than the reality and would deal with loopholes as they came, but hoped they never did.
He had expected her to wake up the next morning, but she didn’t, she was still just sleeping. He had woken by cold air as V had rolled all of the covers onto her. Kai leaned over to try to wake her, thinking she had woken and got cold, but when he leaned over, he felt her shivering and burning up. He remembered what she did when he had a fever and wet a washcloth with cold water to put over her forehead and continued watching over her, waiting for her to wake up.
He felt an unfamiliar feeling through all of this – he felt worried and didn’t know what to do about it, but also knew that V wouldn’t want anybody to know about it, so he took to google and was only met with a world of information that was useless to him in this moment. All throughout the day she was shivering and coughing in her sleep, and he couldn’t do anything to help.
To pass his time while she slept he decided to open her journal again to read the letters she had wrote to the Kai she knew in her world because the sudden silence from her began eating at him. He began to search for them, getting lost in each page she had wrote on in the process. More new emotions washed over him but he couldn’t tear his eyes off the pages. There had been so much she never told him about, so many boundaries he pushed that could’ve been triggers for her that she let him push. He felt a little guilty at this fact, even more so when he found the letters he was looking for.
He read so much expression of pain and loss she felt towards the Kai she knew in her world, and so much joy and borderline possessiveness in the letter he found that she had addressed to him that she never delivered. He felt a new type of way towards her that he couldn’t describe, but he knew he had to do whatever he could to keep her near him.
She woke up late that night as Kai was dozing off and stumbled into the bathroom disoriented. He woke up to groggily ask if she was okay, but she didn’t answer.
He sat up and listened as the shower turned on and she got inside. He heard her coughing a lot more and just closed his eyes to listen, knowing there wasn’t anything he could do. It wasn’t until he heard silence that he wished she was coughing again.
Kai walked into the bathroom and asked V if she was okay before opening the shower when she didn’t respond. He saw blood on her lips and realized she had been coughing blood, then he saw a growing bruise on her lower stomach and panic came across him when she really wouldn’t wake up this time.
His magic still wasn’t helping. For once in his life, he couldn’t do anything but be a human and rush her to the hospital.
The hospital staff bombarded Kai with questions and wouldn’t let him near V by Jo’s orders. Feelings of helplessness grew extreme as he sat in the waiting room for hours with no updates.
Eventually, Jo approached Kai as he stood up to hear her immediate accusations.
“What did you do to that girl,” Jo said with an angry attitude.
“I didn’t do anything I—” Jo cut him off, “I have a hard time believing you. We just had to remove her ovary in the worst case of trauma and internal bleeding I have seen in my career thanks to whatever you did,” she finished angrier than before.
Kai had a look of sadness and remorse wash over him, “she’s my best friend, Jo, you have to believe me… I didn’t do anything,” Kai almost pleaded with her, “we’ve been staying together for months, since before the merge, she left one night and came back the next, she wouldn’t wake up, I didn’t know what to do—”
Jo cut him off again, “yeah, well, you also murdered your family, I wouldn’t put it past you to do something this horrific.”
“If I was the one who did this, why would I bring her here,” Kai asked, “if anybody knows my tact it’s you, I wouldn’t have brought her here if I did.”
Jo processed what he had said for a moment. “Either you suddenly gained a conscious or you’ve gone crazy then. Cops will be here to take her statement soon, I suggest you stay out of their way,” she snapped and walked away.
Kai figured out what room she was in by looking into every room until he found her sitting up in her hospital bed with her legs hanging over.
He walked in and locked the door behind him, “what are you doing, you need to be resting,” he said, placing his hand on her shoulder trying to get her to lay back down.
“If I’m gonna die it’s not gonna be in a hospital with zero interior design aesthetic,” she said swaying slightly from the morphine, “just do me a favor and grab my clothes so we can get out of here before people start asking questions I don’t know the answer to.”
Kai grabbed her bag out of the small cabinet in her room and handed her clothes. She slid her way off the bed and avoided standing on the leg on the side she had surgery on, grabbing onto the bed so she wouldn’t fall as Kai watched, unsure of what to do now knowing that she’s always set in her ways and won’t argue them. He figured it was easier to help so she wouldn’t hurt herself than it would be to try and stop her.
She grabbed her shirt and dropped it when trying to unfold it. Kai grabbed it before she could process that it slipped from her hands – morphine is one hell of a drug.
“Here, lemme help you,” he said rolling her shirt to put it on her.
“I got it,” she tried arguing and grabbing her shirt from him before he slid it over her head faster than she could reach for it.
She struggled to find the arm holes but found them soon enough before throwing herself on the bed to put her sweatpants on the fastest she could in her morphine state.
V let out a dramatic breath and went to grab her backpack, but Kai got to it first and snatched it before she could, “I got it,” he mumbled.
She looked at him as if she was processing what he said, “I’m gonna find a wheelchair,” he spoke against the silence.
“I’m not about to roll out of here riding bitch in a wheelchair… we gonna stroll like mob bosses,” she chuckled and took a few steps before Kai rushed beside her and put her arm around his neck, compromising a wheelchair for someone to hold onto just in case.
Kai drove back to the motel where she promptly made a bee line to the bed and fell back asleep for another half a day. Kai threw her bag down before walking over to cover her up and sit beside her to read more google searches on his phone.
When she woke up the next afternoon she was starving and ate while trying to get the story from Kai. His first loophole, questioning.
“You uh… you left in the middle of the night to go to Audrey’s and left me a note. On the way there a group of people tried to jump you, you got stabbed and came back here,” Kai explained with extreme nervousness.
She just nodded and said, “okay, and then? I don’t remember almost four whole days there has to be more.”
“I don’t know. You had a concussion, wouldn’t wake up, and were bleeding really bad, magic wasn’t helping so I took you to the hospital,” he lied again, “you don’t remember because they had you on a lot of morphine.”
“Hm, weird,” was all V said, “wanna watch a movie?”
Kai was more than relieved that she didn’t ask more questions.
wish you liked girls (kiara carrera)
Summary: You’ve been best friends with kiara for years, but lately you’ve noticed some changes in the way you feel towards her. When you hear the song she wrote about you, all is revealed.
WC: 4.5k
WARNINGS: homophobic, use of the f slur, cursing, nothing else really, just lots of angst and a lil fluff.
*this is based off of the song ‘wish you liked girls’ by Abbey Glover. I changed the lyrics around a little to fit the story better, but all credits to her nonetheless!!
A/N: happy new years my loves! this one shot is kind of my new years gift to all of you. I haven't been very active in the past few days, so I’m sorry about that. i tried to upload this on christmas, but tumblr was rude and didn’t let me, so here we are instead! wishing you all the greatest 2021, and I hope you all enjoy!
LET’S DO IT!!
~~~~~
You didn’t know exactly how you felt towards Kiara in the beginning. You feelings for her were indecipherable; more than friends… but also just friends?
The past few months had been a wild ride for you. Constantly, you were questioning your sexuality, and frankly everything you’d ever known.
It got harder as the days went on, and with every beautiful girl that showed up in your Instagram feed or your tiktok for you page.
And then, of course, there was Kiara.
Perfect, beautiful, unattainable Kiara.
She was your best friend, and you usually viewed your hangouts as a super comforting and safe space. Now, however, your hangouts were simply a cause for more stress.
Kiara was so… wonderful. After knowing her for many years, you could confidently say that the girl had no flaws.
Kie’s perfection made everything so much harder for you. Your feelings toward your friend were incredibly confusing.
Did you want to be her, or be with her?
The biggest issue was not your feelings for Kiara, but rather a completely separate problem.
Your boyfriend.
You were nearing a year with Hunter, the boy you found yourself lucky to call your own.
Hunter was an amazing guy, and everything a teenage girl could ask for in a boyfriend. He was considerate and sweet, and always knew the right thing to say to you. He never pressured you into intimacy, knowing that you weren’t comfortable or ready just yet.
You loved Hunter, you knew you did.
Yet, you found yourself feeling that same way towards Kiara.
This was the main issue causing the battle in your head. Was your love for Kiara just platonic? Or maybe you loved Hunter as a friend, Kiara was the one you wanted to be with?
None of those options felt right, but the last possible option made you feel confused and slightly guilty….
What if you wanted to be with them both?
All these thoughts rushed through your head as you brushed makeup on your face, preparing for a night with the girl who frequented your thoughts daily.
There was an open mic night at you and Kiara’s favorite indie cafe. Kie, who was unknowingly an amazing singer and songwriter, had played some music for you a while back, leading to a process of you encouraging her to grow as an artist.
For months, Kiara had been running song ideas by you. You could recall countless nights during which you and Kiara would sit on her bed, working together to finish up a song she’d been writing.
Kiara credits all her music to you completely, but you knew she was just being modest. The girl was undeniably talented.
That’s why, when you saw that Retro was having an open mic night, you’d insisted that your best friend go play one of her songs.
You had sat on her bed that night, the flyer you’d collected from the cafe sitting between the two of you.
You grabbed the notebook containing all of the lyrics you’d written together, and pored over the most recent piece.
The song was your best one yet. She’d been inspired by yet another fight between JJ and Rafe.
“What if I write something about the pogues and the kooks being so divided?” She’d suggested that same night. You could tell, judging by the look in her eyes, that a train of ideas was chugging in circles throughout her mind. “The whole thing is so ugly and gross… I just want to turn into something beautiful, you know?”
Without a second thought, you’d picked up a pencil and the song book you’d grown to be familiar with, and the two of you got down to work.
Two sleepless nights and countless cups of coffee later, the two of you had completed the piece. It was undoubtedly the best song you’d ever written. It captured the unnecessary feeling of hatred coming from the opposite groups of the island perfectly, adding a touch of soul. The moral of the song was simple: can we just get along?
Kiara had strung the words together beautifully, adding a gorgeous melody and some strums on her guitar. Once the two of you heard the lyrics had worked so hard on turned to music, you knew that there was something special about this piece.
That’s why you insisted so strongly that Kiara sing it at the open mic night.
“I don’t know, Y/N…” Kiara had twiddled her fingers, biting her lip in apprehension. “What if people hate my music? Or what if I fuck it up so bad I become a massive laughingstock. I don’t think I could handle it.”
You smiled, grabbing her hands to still them. “It’s a good thing you won’t have to worry about that, then, because you’re not gonna fuck it up.”
“You don’t know that for sure.” Kiara protested, breaking the gaze you’d been holding as you spoke.
“I do!” You grabbed Kiara’s chin, moving her face towards you so that her eyes met yours again. “You are fucking amazing, Kiara Carrera. Do not doubt yourself. You are so talented, Kie, I don’t think you even realize how incredible you are. I am going to that cafe tomorrow and signing you up for the open mic night whether you like or not.”
This was a threat, but not an honest one. You would never sign her up knowing she was uncomfortable. So, when you let go of your light grip on her chin, you listened intently for a murmur of approval.
After a moment, it finally came.
“Okay, I’ll do it.”
“Yes!” You exclaimed in celebration, throwing your arms around your friend. “I’m so excited, you’re gonna be amazing!
Now, a few days later, you’re sitting at your vanity, preparing for the night you’d be waiting for. Kie was extremely nervous, so you’d taken her out shopping earlier that day to calm her down. She’d bought a new outfit for the open mic night, which looked amazing on her. She promised you that she’d come pick you up so you could go to the performance together, and you’d happily agreed.
You didn’t expect to be at your house an hour early, though.
You weren’t even halfway through your makeup when you heard a knock at your door.
You’d rushed down the stairs, praying you’d get to the door first.
Your parents never liked Kie. They knew she liked girls and guys, and called her a “Hippie whore.”
Your homophobic parents: Yet another reason you couldn’t come to terms with the way you felt towards your best friend.
The odds seemed to be in your favor today, as you reached the door before your parents and swung it open to reveal a highly nervous Kiara.
“Hey!” You smiled. “What are you doing here so early?”
Kiara bit her lip in embarrassment and looked down to her feet.
“I-I got nervous and I got ready way too early. I know I’m not supposed to be here for another 45 minutes, but I’m too freaked out to be alone. Is it okay if I hang out with you while you finish getting ready?” She questions softly, almost embarrassed.
You smile, finding her nerves exceptionally adorable.
“Yes, of course you can. Come in, come in.”
You grab her arm, closing the door behind her and pulling her quickly up the stairs. The last thing you wanted was for Kiara to have to interact with your parents.
Once in your room, you close the door and head back to your vanity, Kiara flopping down on your bed.
As you sat down and continued applying your makeup, you spoke to your friend.
“So, how nervous and excited are you for tonight?”
Kiara smiled lightly, and bit her lip once again. “Very for both.” She confesses with a small chuckle.
“I know you can’t tell someone not to be nervous but I can tell you that you shouldn’t be. You’re incredible, Kie. I can’t wait for everyone to see how talented my best friend is.
You focus hard on your eyeliner, leaning in to your mirror to make sure you get a clean wing.
Once you're done on both sides, you lean back and admire your work. Perfecting your winged liner was something you’d been working on for a while, and it seems that your practice has helped. The wings are sharp and pretty much even. If you don’t look too closely, the wings are seemingly symmetrical. This is good enough for you, you decide, capping the liquid liner and setting it back in your makeup drawer.
Finally done with your makeup, you begin cleaning off your desk. You put your products back in your drawer, and the brushes in the holder you have for them on the corner of your desk.
Standing up, you look at Kie with a smile. “Now help me pick out an outfit so that I look hot supporting you from the audience.”
45 minutes later, the two of you are finally ready to leave. Kie is nervous as ever, but you offer comforting words to try and help calm her down as much as possible. You grab your favorite bag and throw the essentials in it. Your phone, a portable charger (just in case), and a few extra hair ties. Once you were done, you turned to Kie, who was playing with her fingers anxiously. “You ready?” You asked, encouragement laced in your voice. Kiara, still very obviously apprehensive, could do nothing but nod. Taking your bag in one hand and Kiara’s hand in the other, you head out of your room and towards the front door.
The two of you made your way down the stairs, moving quickly to leave so that you didn’t have to interact with either of your awful parents. When you got to the bottom, you rushed for the door, fumbling with the door handle. The house you lived in was old, and all of the metal pieces (such as the door knob) were rusted and hard to use. You did your best trying to twist it open, saying a silent prayer that one of your parents didn’t round the corner and see Kiara with you. She was nervous enough as it is; she didn’t need your parents making her night even worse.
Unfortunately for the both of you, your prayers were seemingly denied as your mother walked into the foyer, arms crossed over her chest.
You had hardly even noticed her presence until she said your name, anger apparent in her voice.
“Y/N. How many times do I have to tell you who you can and cannot bring into our home?”
You grimaced at the sound of her voice, turning slowly, knowing you’ll be met with inescapable doom. In the process of turning, you saw the look on Kie’s face. She looked anxious and heartbroken, not to mention severely guilty. After seeing your best friend’s expression, you knew you weren’t cowering down to your mother.
Your original plan had been to apologize profusely and beg her to let you go with Kie, possibly even lying about where you were headed.
But you knew you had nothing to apologize for, and neither did Kie.
“I don’t see why it matters, Mom.”
Surprise flashed over your mother’s face, shocked by your confidence. Standing up for yourself wasn’t your usual reaction to her scoldings, and she wasn’t prepared for the reply she was given.
“It matters because it’s my house, and because I’m your mother. I told you I did not want people like her over at this house. Now send the girl on her way and come sit down with me. I think we need to talk.”
You had to admit, you were nervous to make your next move. You knew what you were going to do, and it would result in getting your ass shredded when you come back home. But you didn’t care; you had to be there for Kie.
“I can’t right now. Me and Kiara have a place to be, so…” You turned and messed with the doorknob some more, finally getting it to work correctly. “I’ll talk to you when I get home tonight. It shouldn’t be terribly late. But, I might stay over at Kie’s, so, you think you could wait until tomorrow?”
Anger washed quickly over your mother’s face. She uncrossed her arms so that she could clench her fists at her sides, moving towards you menacingly. “Absolutely not, Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N. You will be staying here, and you will not be staying at her house. I won’t allow it.”
You smirked, a sudden confidence washing over you. “Well, that doesn’t sound very fun. Good thing I didn’t ask for your permission, huh?”
Kie looked shocked by your attitude, and your mother was getting angrier by the second.
“I’m going to need you to fix your attitude, young lady, or there will be severe consequences.”
“I don’t care. I don’t, and I’m not sorry about it. Kie is my best friend, whether you like it or not, and I’m spending the night with her.”
Your mother’s face was almost completely red. “Kie is a fag-”
“No. Don’t you dare finish that sentence. I will not allow you to talk to her that way. Why are you the way that you are?”
“Why are you hanging out with gay people? Do you like girls or something?”
“Why does it matter?” You’re fuming at this point. If she wasn’t your mother, you would’ve hit her by now.
“It matters because homosexuals are abominations. The Lord says so. I thought I’d taught you this by now, but clearly I didn’t press the word of God into you hard enough when you were younger.”
“No, Mom. Terrible people like you are an abomination. We’re leaving.”
And with that, you were gone, wrenching the door open and ushering Kie out of it, ignoring your mother’s shouts as you closed it behind you.
You rushed to Kie’s car, hopping in it as she pulled out of your driveway and sped through your neighborhood.
The two of you were completely silent for a moment. Both of you could barely process what had just happened. The more you thought about the situation, the more it upset you. Who was your mother to decide who you could and couldn’t hang out with? Especially when her reasons for you not hanging out with Kie were so disgusting.
What would your mother say if she knew the thoughts you’d been having?
After a little while, Kiara broke the silence. “Why is your mom like that?” Her voice cracked slightly as she spoke, and you could tell by the tone of her voice that she was fighting tears.
You sighed. Hearing Kiara so upset, especially on a day that was supposed to be fun, broke you. “I wish I knew, Kie. I’m so sorry.”
“I can’t believe she accused you of liking girls just because you hang out with me. She’s so disrespectful for no reason.”
You shook your head. “You say it like it’s a terrible thing she ‘accused’ me of. It’s not a bad thing. She just made it bad because she’s a bitch.”
Kiara nodded, turning her head to gaze out the window. A momentary silence fell over the two of you, but you couldn’t help but feel like something wasn’t right. You glanced over at Kie, whose brows were furrowed. She bit her lip in thought.
Is there something she wanted to say?
“Kie? Are you alright?”
The brunette didn’t say anything. You knew something was up, so you pressed further.
“What’s on your mind, love?”
Kiara shot out her reply quickly, like it was taking all of her courage to say it.
“You didn’t deny it.”
“Deny what?”
“Liking girls.”
You paused briefly, letting the girls words sink in for a second.
“No, I didn’t.”
Kiara turned to you, a million emotions in her dark eyes. They all flashed as you made eye contact, making each feeling hard to identify. “Do you?”
“Like girls?” Your breathing was halted. Was Kiara… feeling the same way towards you as you had been for her?
“I-I don’t know.”
Kie turned towards you. When you looked at her, you could see the tears in her eyes.
You could identify a strong sense of hope in her dark eyes.
“You don’t know?”
Suddenly, you remembered.
Hunter.
Your amazing boyfriend that you loved so much.
“It doesn’t really matter though, I guess. Since I’m with Hunter.”
The words had left your mouth before you could stop them.
Kie took a deep breath, and looked away.
“Right. Hunter.”
A few minutes later, you’d arrived at the cafe. No more words had been spoken, and tension in the car was thick.
Once the car was parked, you finally spoke.
“Are you ready to go?”
Kie nodded. “Yeah, I think so.”
The two of you climbed out of the car, Kiara going into the back to grab her guitar. Once everything was locked up, the two of you headed inside in silence.
The crowd was bustling with life in the small cafe. On one side, people with songbooks and sheet music sat with their instruments, and on the other side, people sat sipping on cups on coffee.
When you noticed the separation, Kie headed over to the performers side. You gave a light ‘good luck,’ to which Kiara didn’t reply, and then the two of you went separate ways.
Kiara took a seat in the performer section, looking nervously at the people around her. She tried her best to push away the feelings from the conversation in the car earlier, but it was very difficult. For a moment there, she had allowed herself to believe that the feelings she had for you were reciprocated. That look in your eye when you looked at her… something about it made her think you felt the same as she did. Unfortunately, she was wrong.
You just had to bring your Hunter.
Kiara hated Hunter, though she’d never let you know that. She had no real reason to hate him, but she did. She hated him so much, it was almost painful to see his face.
She hated him because he had what Kie wanted more than anything else in the world.
You.
Kie watched you as you moved around on the other side of the cafe. You were standing at the counter, talking to the barista. Though Kie couldn’t hear you over the bustle of the place, she knew exactly what you were saying.
You were ordering your usual: a large vanilla sweet cream cold brew with caramel drizzle. You order has been the same for what feels like forever. You had tried other things, but you always stuck to your favorite.
“I’ve never liked anything as much as this.” You’d said a few weeks earlier, when Kie had teased you for never changing your order.
Kie longed to be over there with you, teasing you about your order. Just talking to you lit up her life. You were everything to her, and she wasn’t even afraid to admit it.
You got your coffee, thanking the barista and dropping some change in the tip jar.
Kie watched as you scanned the room, searching for an empty seat. As you looked around, your eyes met Kiara’s, and you held her gaze for a moment. Though you didn’t know why she was being so cold towards you earlier, you couldn’t help but offer a small smile of encouragement.
To your great relief, she smiled back.
Once you knew she was alright, you broke her gaze and continued searching for a seat. You wanted to sit near the front, so that you could lock eyes with Kie when she was on stage as a form of moral support, but all of the front seats were taken.
Slightly disappointed, you had to take a seat in the back, near the exit.
When Kie saw that smile you gave her, she knew something had to be done. Even when the two of you weren’t really on the best terms, you continued to support her.
She loved you so fucking much.
Right then and there, Kiara made a decision, one she hoped she wouldn’t come to regret in the future.
An hour had gone by, and many performers had made their way on and off the stage in the small cafe. You counted down the performers until your best friend went on the stage, nervously playing with the straw on your cup. Even though you weren’t the one going up on the stage, you still felt terrified.
When the performer before your friend was reading off the last lines of his slam poem, your heart began to race.
The guy walked off, and you watched your friend stand up.
“Next up, we have Kiara Carrera, performing an original song called ‘differences aside.’ Let’s give her a very warm welcome!”
You could barely hear the announcer calling Kie’s name over the sound of your heart pounding.
Up on the stage, Kiara’s heart was pounding just as loud.
See, when Kie showed up at your house earlier in the day, she had completely intended to sing the song the two of you had written together. ‘Differences Aside’ was a beautiful song, and one she was very proud of. However, after the events that had went down on the way to the cafe, her mind had changed.
She was writing a song she had written by herself.
A song she wrote about you.
“Hey, everyone, I’m Kiara. I know I said that I was gonna be singing a song called ‘Differences Aside,’ but there’s been a slight change of plans. I’m going to be singing a different original instead. I hope you all enjoy it.”
When she had finished talking, she made direct eye contact with you. You were shocked by her words, and a little bit upset. Was she really so frustrated with you, or hurt by your previous conversation, that she refused to sing the song you wrote together?
It was heartbreaking, and you moved lower in your seat as she began strumming her guitar, fighting the tears forming in your eyes.
“I grew pretty attached to you,
Like a dog on a lead
Thought you were everything I could’ve dreamed of,
And all I could ever need.
But you like him, him, him
But you like him, him, him
And you don’t like me.”
Kiara’s voice rang out as she began singing. She sounded beautiful, and the song was very pretty.
You would’ve loved it, but you were slightly confused.
With every word she sang, she was looking directly into your eyes.
“Always thought you looked at me differently
Than any other you'd see
Thought you were aching to see me
At any, any possibility
But you like boys, boys, boys
But you like boys, boys, boys
And you don't like me.”
Your eyes widened at the last lyrics.
Was this song about you?
“I could be a bitch and tell you a million reasons why
Being with me would be much better than with any other guy
I could tell you I'll treat you right
And never wrong
Tell you in my arms is where you belong
“But I know that you can't change someone
So I'll just leave you alone, although
I wish you liked girls, girls, girls
Wish you liked girls, girls, girls
Girls like me.”
With Kie looking in your eyes as she sang, the lyrics hit you hard.
She did have feelings for you.
Tears began to sting your eyes, and you were overcome with emotion. You dropped Kie’s eyes, grabbing your things and standing up. Unable to stay any longer, you ran out the door, crying as you did.
Inside, up on the stage, Kiara’s heart dropped as she watched you leave. She had no choice but continue to sing.
“I wish you would’ve been more clear
When I was hanging out with you
That women isn't really something
That you've ever been into
'Cause you like boys, boys, boys
'Cause you like boys, boys, boys
And you don't like me.”
Tears began to fall as she sang, blurring her eyes. She just kept strumming, putting everything she had into the last verse and chorus of the song.
“And I know you don't swing that way
But that won't take my feelings away
Oh I wish you liked girls
I wish you liked girls
Like me”
It became harder to sing as sobs caught in her throat, but she pushed through. She was going to make it through this performance. She had to.
“I could be a bitch and tell you a million reasons why
Being with me would be much better than with any other guy
I could tell you I'll treat you right
And never wrong
Tell you in my arms is where you belong
But I know that you can't change someone
So I'll just leave you alone, although
I wish you liked girls, girls, girls
Wish you liked girls, girls, girls
Girls like me”
When the last chord rang out at the end of the song, the crowd erupted in applause and murmurs. Kie choked out a quiet ‘thank you’ in the microphone before running off the stage and outside to you.
She was so so scared that she’d ruined everything.
When she got out there, you on the phone, sniffling as you spoke.
“See you soon. Okay, bye.”
You turned around, and your cheeks immediately went pink when you saw her.
“Hi.” You said softly, not knowing what else to do.
“Who was that on the phone?”
“Hunter.”
Kie’s heart dropped when she heard the name. She recalled your words from when she’d first walked out. ‘See you soon.’ Her heart dropped further.
“Is he coming to pick you up?”
You shook your head, causing a small bit of relief to flood through kiara. “What were you talking to him about?”
You paused for a moment, dropping the eye contact the two of you were making.
“I broke up with him.”
Your friend let out a light gasp, hope entering her mind once again. “Oh.”
You just nodded, looking anywhere but at Kiara.
“May I ask why?”
Your response was simple.
You ran up to her and kissed her.
Finally.
Kiara was taken aback, but kissed back eagerly, so happy this was finally happening.
And when she was kissing you, everything was good.
Maybe changing the song was a good idea after all.
