The Chapter of Necessary Filler & the Obligatory Cliffhanger

I love that Isayama isn't rushing everything and is actually focusing on little details and small interactions between characters. He really isn't glorifying an "apocalyptical scenario" just for the sake of destruction in itself or shock value.

This chapter felt like a nostalgia trip, but I wasn't in for the ride.

This chapter was a breath of fresh air ngl. These past chapters were mostly full of either a flashback, monologue or just having two characters talking in a realm where nothing happens and time is frozen, but, at last, the plot is moving foward in the real world too. Not only it contained long gone titan action, but also great character development/moments as well. I missed this.

I understand that Connie is desperate to find a comfort after all the ppl he lost, but I'm still extremely disappointed in him for wanting to murder a child. A chapter in the endgame that’s almost reminiscent of the defense of Trost with respect to mindless titan action and defending a base.  Despite many other happenings such as the rumbling going on currently, 46% were totally fine with the focus on mindless titan action and thought it was written well, whereas 35.6% enjoyed it, but wished there was a bit more beyond checking that box.  10.8% wanted a larger focus on the titans in the rumbling, and 5.5% would have preferred a focus shift away from Shiganshina entirely.

I love the fact that shows how prepared and easy fighting mindless titans is for them now. When the titans attacked Trost they were hopeless and Jean was the one frozen in fear. Now we get to see him clear up the titans with ease.

I think showing smaller happenings before the big reveal of Eren's titan and the effects of the rumbling are important buildup.

I would have rather focused on what's happening to Pieck and the others near the wall.

I didn't feel that was the focus, but either way, I liked it.

I wish more would’ve happened outside of it BUT it’s important to show them being dealt with otherwise readers would be like “wait, what about all those people who turned into titans?” So not the best, but necessary.

I'm not crazy about fighting scenes, I prefer the ones where they discuss stuff, but these were really emotional with Shadis and Pixis and everything. Like, it wasn't even so much about fighting itself, for me at least, but about Shadis uniting people again and Armin setting Pixis free finally.

I wish the chapter had explored the idea of Titans appearing now that the Military has begun using weapons which are more effective against humans than Titans. I had thought that the reappearance of Titans would do much more damage since the Military is no longer equipped to handle such threats.

That is, it can turn Pure Titans back into humans, but if it did, it would happen to ALL Pure Titans, not just a specific group of them. It's possible that is how the Fritz royalty used the Pure Titans while maintaining the Eldian population during ancient times. Here, if Eren were to use that aspect of the Founding Titan's power, both the Military Branch Officer Titans AND the Wall Titans would be turned back into humans. Right now, Eren is bent on using the Wall Titans to flatten the World, so he most likely does not want to use the power of the Founding Titan to turn all the Pure Titans in Shingashina + Connie's mom into humans; otherwise, the Wall Titans would turn into humans again too, and that would ruin his rumbling plan.

Regarding Eren and the mindless titans, control issues aside, I just don't think he cares.

Among the candidates, Armin may seem like a promising candidate, but aside from his proven intellect, just like Hange both do not possess the level of prowess of leading all three branches (four if count the training squad)of the military. More I think about it the "best" candidate in this list may surprisingly be Jean, but so far he hasnt been giving me the impression as someone who can take on such a massive role.

The fandom is fairly divided on Floch’s motives, with a three-way split that comes close to being even. The highest amount of respondents feel he is arresting the Volunteers because he doesn’t trust them based on past actions. In the middle, people feel that he doesn’t want to be associated with any non-Eldian people. And in third place, people felt that he doesn’t trust Yelena specifically, and is taking her group down with her.

As far as I've seen, Floch is on Eren's side, not Zeke's. So that would make Yelena, who hasn't heard about her boss and the euthanasia plan, dangerous as fuck. Even with that, Floch's following his own principles. He has different reasons than Eren, but he just needs the "devil" figure to project his own will.

He always knew Yelena and Zeke's intentions because of Eren, and now he's arresting them to prevent more trouble caused by them. I think Eren "trusts" and is working with Flcoh more than the fandom expect.

Annie got crystalized in chapter 33, and now she's out, 91 chapters later. Since 12 chapters are published in a year, we have been waiting for her (not including flasbacks and her just chilling in the crystal) 7 years and 7 months. I salute all the diehard Annie fans, you had a long wait.

Once again I have marked my calendar. May 9, 2012 - December 5, 2019. After 7 excruciating years our queen is FINALLY awake. This deserves a new record for longest amount of time a character has been comatose in real life. Thank GOD it's finally over I still can't believe it.

I'm a big fan of all of the smaller storylines coming together, hoping for everything to be wrapped up nicely and characters from different factions (i.e Hange, Annie, Historia) all coming together to address the rumbling.

It felt a little like a breather chapter, despite all the action. It was nice to slow down and get some character development for everyone.

“Everyone has a devil in them” is a great message. Hope they all team up and stop Eren. Very curious about what Annie will do!

Great chapter! I like Pathland, and the flashback with Levi and Hanji was great, but it was a relief to get some current time action. Gabi is best girl, Armin just went up by leaps and bounds in my book, and Annie is back!! So excited for the next chapter…

Great one ! The fear from the mindless titans in back, like in Trost. Many side characters development/deaths (Nile, Pixis, Shadis, Kaya, Nicolo, Gabi, Annie, Connie, Jean...). So much good stuff, I almost forgot about the rumbling going on !!

Amazing. If Isayama maintains this quality til the end, then this will be one of my favorite series, of any media, ever.

I'm wondering what Annie can realistically do at this point. Sure she beat Eren before but now he's in another level.

ANNNIIEEEEE; Shadis' comeback was wonderful. I hope he can make up for the loss of Pixis and Erwin and such. He has great potential and he's a well developed character. Jean is asking the real questions, but the showdown between him and Floch is about to go down.

I said previously that if Floch survives I wanted my money back. But you know what? I'll take my refund in Annie store credit. Thanks for that bright spot, Isayama!  Also: this chapter pointed out how many good people in the world will suffer if Eren succeeds. And I felt as frustrated with the remnants of the 104th as Gabi. Nicolo and Shadis became my unexpected heroes this chapter.

Is Zeke still alive? Is he still controlling the mindless titans?

Floch didn’t do anything particularly bad this chapter but every time I have to see his face my opinion of him becomes less favorable. When Jean said “so you lived...” I FELT that disappointment lol.

I love the Braun siblings interaction in this chap. And Nicole's "we'll try to get out of the forest" sends chills. I think that's one of the point ISTM is trying to get across.

Does Connie realise that if his mother was given one of the nine titan powers she would be made to fight? Getting one of the titan powers is very much a curse not a blessing (especially with the Jaw titan)

At this point the Eren/Gabi parallels are feeling a little overdone and forced.

If Gabi receives Eren’s Titan it will be the stupidest most disappointing thing to happen in this- no all of manga! Besides, what is the damn point of her “paralleling” Eren anyways? But the Sasha paralleling was even more gnarly YUCK!

It's true that the people of Paradis will benefit from this shit, but I highly disagree with any justification when it comes to Eren's horrible actions. GENOCIDE IS NEVER THE OPTION. I think Jean is disappointed too but he's trying his best to rationalize the crap Eren's carrying out for he still doesn't want to believe his friend is committing genocide. I expect he comes back to his senses soon otherwise I no longer will appreciate him as a character.

That "who are you most disappointed" will sadly be filled with Armin hate tbh. And in the end he was just wanting to avoid unnecessary conflict... tbh Anyone hating on Connie, Gabi and Armin doesn't seems to know how humans emotion work in helpless situations...

What Yams is doing to Connie is further proof he is ruining his main characters (the good ones) to make room for his precious Marley characters (the crappy ones)

Connie's regression and frustration was more and more visible since Sasha died. He's lost everyone close to him. I am happy to see him finally snap at Armin and go his own way. This was foreshadowed for a while now.

I hope Isayama sensei doesn't forget to include World Millitary's raid in the action. They already mention in some previous chapter by Zeke.

Quantity-wise, the chapter wasn't centered around Gabi, okay. But. BUT. Gabi got quite a few powerful scenes, very Gabi-centric scenes, and I'm not happy about that. I don't see how and why the fandom so easily forgave her for what she's done. Isayama drawing parallels between Gabi and Sasha was insulting and distasteful.

It is highly likely that this is the last time we are going to see Pure Titan mayhem in the series now that the Rumbling is taking place, so I think it was great to that focus in this chapter. I thought it was handled well, especially with Shadis's scenes, the parallel of the new recruits seeing the Pure Titans peaking through the hole of the fortress tower much like a similar scene in the Trost arc, the tragedy of seeing Pixis and Nile (two of the last remaining head honchos of the military not counting Hange and Shadis) as Pure Titans and getting killed off for good, and how characters like Armin and Jean fought those Pure Titans.  

WARMASTER FLOCKE, TO LEAD THE ARMIES OF ELDIA TO VICTORY! Haha no I guess not. I'm torn between Flocke, Jean, Eren, and Shadis. All could be good picks but all outcomes would have different implications on the story and what it means. I guess if I had to pick, it'll be Shadis or Eren for now and then perhaps Jean later when things have settled and they've grown up more.

I honestly can't keep up with how many faces Floch has.

With how the pacing is handled there's no way this is ending in 6 chapters. The real climax is Eren having to go against his friends because there's no way in hell Mikasa is allowing him to genocide kids

As heartbreaking as this chapter has been, I already had my hopes destroyed when 119 was released. Today has been the confirmation for two awesome characters, who fell because of the non-veteran rule. I don't know why I still hope to see Keith staying alive, but at least we got an awesome moment of his.

Characters are being balanced relatively well. Isayama's got a lot of characters and plot threads to deal with, and while Levi, Hange and Historia are getting less focus than I would like, I think he's doing a pretty good job of keeping each character relevant and giving them all some good arcs/ moments

Everything (except for Gabi scenes) was perfect for me!

I simply hate how cowardy the 104th is acting. It's clear they're only fighting in their own interest and are just pulling excuses after excuses for supporting Eren. At least Floch is honest about it.

Man, the 104th always been the group I care the less in the story, but this chapter they're being so annoying (apart from Mikasa). Well, I can forgive Connie because of everything he went through, but Jean... why are you saying this ""there was no other choice, eren is protecting us"" bs ? Nice of you to be complicit of mass genocide. (Yes, I know his face shows he's conflicted, but he still sides with eren) Also Armin... at least he's horrified at what's Eren's doing but when he said that if they don't kill Falco there would be no conflict with the warriors since Marley will be gone....that's just dumb. Their home and families are going to be destroyed, but ok Armin, go off. And getting into another serumbowl situation, with one of my fave uncounscious while the SC decides who will eat him... I don't like it. (I don't think Falco will be eaten tho, the whole thing raised many death flags on Connie)

Great chap, Isayama seems to finally give closure to certain plot parts. End is near.

Here's a crazy idea: feed GABI to Connie's mom instead of Falco, there would be nowhere near as much arguing with that

Highlights that people can rise above their conditions to become better people, offering a counterargument that humanity should be wiped out.

I don't get why the story pacing was disrupted so much. Why build up to a climatic cliffhanger with the rumbling, only to basically ignore it for the entire following chapter?

I honestly wonder if titan shifting still works as it used to. I'm afraid of seeing Falco get eaten for nothing. Honestly I'm worried about Falco dying for nothing while people right over him as a pawn in general.

Quite interesting chapter. Had fun with it. Much, much slower paced than expected almost. But then again we need time to cover all this stuff. And I'm happy it all took place in the current rather than another flashback. Not really a fan of the Gabi stuff but it is what it is. The other character developments were quite nice. Reiner literally just falling asleep tho lol. Overall I guess I wouldn't say it's a "big" chapter but it is necessary to bridge what came before with whatever comes next. And at long last Annie is back, so that's GLORIOUS.

I hope Annie will have such a big role she gets repaid for the all years she's been gone😞

I hope Isayama uses the slowdown in the pace to better sell the scale of the rumbling, we already see part of that by hoe Eren's dino titan still isnt complete, even after all this time

I love how the story is progressing.The next chapter is always something I personally don't expect and it's always exciting. The hype at the beginning/end of the month is unreal. As for the chapter itself, it's always refreshing to see Jean's perspective on Eren's plans because I love his interpretations on him. #TEAMJAEGER

I really hated the Gabi-Sasha and Gabi-Eren parallels. I also still think Gabi was never needed in this story, in fact I don’t know how I’ll be able to stomach season 4. Ugh, the first half will be completely and utterly Gabified. Gabi in color and motion plus speaking, YUCK!  Anyways I hope that the next chapter will have an update on Hange, Levi, and Historia. And maybe Floch getting punched by Shadis that would be the Cherry on top.

It was an average chapter, not bad but nowhere near as good as the previous ones. Plus I'd appreciate if other characters, outside of Gabi, had more spotlight. Her arc and development is done, give more development and screentime to other characters such as Mikasa please.

Just being disappointed. The pacing is very slow. Also the main cast's reactions were too passive. I hated it.

Love getting to see thoughts from many different characters and where they stand. A lot of them are still left behind trying to rationalise things to make it emotionally palatable, or simply stuck not being able to accept the reality, whereas Gabi has kind of gone ahead and realised there's evil on both sides, and she's willing to kill Eren or work with him if she can best protect the people she cares about (eventually probably not just her friends and family either, but the outside Eldians as a whole).

Nicolo talking to Kaya and Gabi was cringey af. Did they really do back to that derpy forest analogy? If this series ends with them holding hands and singing around a campfire imma legit be so disappointed. I need me my Rumbling!

This chapter felt like a nostalgia trip, but I wasn't in for the ride. It was a mess of short catching-up moments when I just want to pick Eren's brain. I want to see Levi and Hange alive or hear what Annie and Historia think about the events, but at the moment I don't care about even those storylines. I just want to know what the relationship between Ymir and Eren is now that the walls came down.

The first panel being Mr. Leonhart was a pretty strong indicator to me that Annie would be released in the last panel, and it was. I felt that to be extremly poetic, and the timing is good too. Another wildcard in the plot. Excellent.

Compared to the previous chapter, this one turned out to be very disappointing. I was excited to see the rumbling and getting a glimpse of Eren’s thoughts and feelings. But instead I got Reiner going to sleep, Gabi being paralleled to Eren (again) and Sasha, the 104th busy arguing over what to do with Falco instead of, you know, focusing on THE RUMBLING

Good chapter, but if S4 is the final season and airs Autumn 2020, and with a monthly release, curious as to how isayama might tie up these "last minute" plot threads such as the new developments with Connie and Falco.

What else can I say except it's amazing and it was worth the wait

I don’t get ppl who say dany was meant to go mad they just wanted it to happen over a season longer Am I the only one who didn’t want that she was shit on so many times and sure she had her moments but she got through them and did the right thing It’s not cliche if her and Jon were happy in the end together or at least died together if they wanted to surprise us I feel like I would be okay with the ending if Jon sacrificed himself too He shouldn’t have lived It makes more sense for his character

Oh, anon yes times 100000! “It would have made more sense if there had been more seasons.” “It didn’t work because it was so rushed.” Bitch, know your role and shut your mouth! Maybe it’s hinted at in the books more like Jon being dark, but that ain’t what happened in the show.

They use Viserys’s death as proof of her early madness but let’s look at all the scenes they shared together, shall we? The first time we see Viserys, we learn he is her brother right before he feels her up. He then implies that he gets physically abusive towards her by saying “you don’t want to wake the dragon, do you?” Then she meets the Khal and instead of her brother being concerned about her safety with a warlord, when she tells him she doesn’t want to marry him but wants to go home, he tells her he’d let Drogo’s whole tribe and their horses fuck her if it gave him the army he needed, all while kissing her on the forehead, an extreme juxtaposition to his words. At their wedding feast, there are no pleasantries or comforting words, just “make him happy.” He gives no care to her pain even though it appears that Jorah, who is there to spy, cares more than her blood brother does. She stops the Khalasar and he physically attacks hers for daring to tell him to stop and only because of her Dothraki is she saved. When she eats the horse heart, he realizes the people love her and leaves. He gets INSULTED when she gives him a gift and tries to hurt her again, only she actually fights back against him this time and tells him “the next time you lay hands on me will be the last time you have hands.” Jorah catches him trying to steal the dragon eggs and firmly sides with Daenerys. And then the final scene with Viserys, he comes stumbling drunk into their celebration, with a weapon, and not only threatens Dany’s life but that of her unborn child. She listens as he says he’ll cut the baby out of her and leave it for Drogo before he takes her back because she is his property that Drogo hasn’t paid for her. He only relents when Drogo promises him. She knew it was getting worse. The more power she gained the crazier Viserys became. So then we have the moment they point to, where Viserys, her abuser, the one who sold her, who threatened her, hit her, and was going to cut her child from her womb is begging for his life and she has no reaction. Yeah? Well, I would have been roasting fucking marshmallows on the flames that melted that gold and handing out snacks to people. Ain’t no fucking way I’m even batting an eye.

Then you have Jon and Dany as a whole who suffered a lot. Dany lost her husband and child. Dany saw her people killed because others wanted her dragons. Dany looked into the faces of the crucified slaves as she marched towards Meereen. But through all of this, she freed the Unsullied, freed Missandei, Freed Yunkai, freed Meereen, put off going to Westeros because it’s what was best for the people of Meereen for her to stay and rule. And they gave her these huge dramatic moments like the sacking of Astapor and walking through the crowds of Yunkai and Meereen. She married a man she didn’t even like to try to keep the peace, she locked up her dragons, she worried about the people. She listened to their complaints. And this is all before she got to Westeros. Jon was doing some pretty heavy fucking stuff during this time, but none of it was promoted like the pieces with Dany. They made her the Messiah and in the last house turned her into the devil.

If they wanted to do a tragic ending for Jon and Dany, they should have killed one or both. What they did wasn’t just a tragic ending but the assassination of BOTH characters to the point where Cersei crying in Jaime’s arms was more sympathetic than either of them. And the reason that Jon felt so bad about what he did is that he didn’t actually think it was the right thing to do.

Dany was always portrayed as a protector and savior until she needed to be the punisher and the punished. Essentially, she outlived her usefulness to help the “hero”, Jon Snow, defeat an army he couldn’t defeat without her and five seconds later have everyone in the room forget how it is they even stood a fighting chance just to really start isolating her. It was a bad set up because in the context of the story they were telling and had been telling for seven seasons it made NO FUCKING SENSE.

How many times did she tell people “protect the innocents” “harm no child”? A fucking lot. It was one of her sticking points. So we’re supposed to believe that she went crazy and completely forgot the morals and lessons she had learned from Jorah and Missandei? Missandei who believed in her. Jorah who told her she had a good heart. Or even Barristan who came to find her and cared for her. We’re supposed to forget that those people and their words and love meant nothing because she went mad? No baby. That ain’t how narrative works. At least not a good one.

One last thing. I stand with Daenerys Targaryen. Now and Always.

to clarify: 

mary shelley did invent (as a TEENAGER and just bc she didn’t want to fuck lord byron) what we can think of as modern science fiction. 

basically it’s the year without a summer, mary, percy, and slutty LB are chilling in switzerland, and there’s a fucking climate disaster happening outside, so they’re stuck in some gothic spookfest. there’s a story contest blah blah u’ve heard the tale. 

but it does get even more interesting (for nerds). 

so there are two major versions of FRANKENSTEIN as we know it: the 1818 version and the 1831 version. for a long, long time, the 1831 version was what was popularly published. i don’t really care about the material differences of these editions tbh (it’s a bit more critical of victor, a bit more conservative for the time, etc)--the thing that’s interesting imo is the 1831 edition was EDITED BY PERCY SHELLEY who (according to source: me) was a dick. like pretty ok poet, but definitely had a huge ulcer over his wife (uhhh sorta bc when he and mary met he was FULLY ALREADY MARRIED) being, y’know, cooler and smarter and better than him. 

anyway, now what’s more commonly read is the 1818 version. i recommend it, personally, bc it’s spicier. also bc percy was a bit of a dick! 

so in 1818, novels were only just starting to gain public respectability. like now, culturally we are (at least in theory) pro-reading, like nobody* is going around being like “reading novels rots children’s brains!!!!!” but if you go back a few decades from when shelley was writing, people were VERY concerned about novels rotting people’s (but like, especially women, bc our brains are obviously squisher and more susceptible to ‘sentiment,’ which they were really fucking worried about) brains. by the early nineteenth century, the idea that novels could provide a moral education (instead of just making you have a dangerous amount of feelings) was starting to take hold, but it was def still in the newish stages. 

(before we move on from mary, it’s also worth saying that she was a total fucking goth, metal as hell, and when percy died, she kept HIS HEART, WRAPPED IN COPIES OF HIS POEMS, IN HER DRESSER. also before he died, they had sex on a grave. i think it was her mom’s grave--mary wolstonecraft--but i don’t remember and i’m not googling, u can’t make me)

so the thing about margaret cavendish is that she was the absolute fucking goat and we do not remember her enough. so as a teen mags was just, chilling in a french convent, when some british nobles come to visit bc, like, it was the interregnum and shit was getting VERY head-choppy-offy in england. one of these bros was the duke of cavendish, EXTREMELY rich and powerful dude, who took, like, one look at mags and was like “oh my god u rule u gotta marry me” and she was like “ok” 

so like cromwell sr dies and cromwell jr sucks at cromwelling and monarchy comes back to england which is good for our mags but probably bad for, like, history? idk cromwell was also a dick, so it was all bad tbh. anyway they mosey on back to england and it’s like the 1660s and margaret is now married to like, the richest dude. she, being dope, decides to take this power to do WHATEVER THE FUCK SHE WANTS. so like a fun example of this is she would just like, put giant black stickers shaped like stars or butterflies or whatever over any zits. it became this huge trend, even though it’s sorta bizarre! didn’t matter, maggie c was the IT girl of 1662. 

but remember how i said above that before mary’s time, folks were pretty worried about how novels would rot the soft delicate brains of young ladies? well novels as we know them weren’t even really invented in 1662, but shit was still dire. basically, WRITING wasn’t necessarily considered uncool for women, but PUBLISHING--or really anything public at all (google ‘separate spheres’)(i mean, don’t, obviously)--was a big scale no-no. so something that was popular at the time was private dramas that women would write to act out at home, or at like house parties. 

maggie c was not into this. so her solution was to write stuff, then say it had been stolen, which meant she HAD to publish, bc what if the terrible manuscript thief published an inauthentic version of her work, thereby slandering her good name? 

and like, ok, good con--ONCE. but mags did it MANY MANY TIMES and even though NOBODY BELIEVED HER she was married to the RICHEST DUDE and that gave you some leverage so everyone had to be like “alas, lady cavendish! once again you are troubled by these pesky manuscript thieves! how rude of them (who are definitely real) to target you and only you! this is a terrible plight that u suffer”

so she did a lot of writing, on a lot of topics, and one of those topics was science, which was, like, pretty new.

anyway the royal society (which was like an early scientific society) had only opened in 1660; margaret cavendish was the first woman to attend a meeting in 1667. she was pretty controversial to the society for a bunch of reasons, partially bc she was a woman, partially bc she did think a bunch of wild shit and was not super into, like, experiments? but regardless she was a Science Lady. 

in 1666 she wrote this wild book called The Blazing World. it’s a weird book, part utopian, part romance, part adventure, part philosophical and scientific treatise--but it’s about a woman who is taken from our world to go to the blazing world, via the north pole, where she is made empress. a common detail referenced when marking this (exceedingly bizarre and generically complicated) book as the first example of science fiction (or at least proto science fiction) is that the blazing world has these different stars in the sky. 

so anyway, if anyone wants to be a douche about mary shelley not being the first science fiction author (and like, genres change, so stop being a whiner, says I to this critic, who I assume is a man) remind them that it was STILL A LADY WHO DEFINITELY DID IT and she did it within a decade of BASICALLY THE INVENTION OF MODERN SCIENCE.

on the topic of my job, i work at a lil boba cafe place and. tbqfh i think the management is terrible,, i mean i can generally handle it now but?? still ??? god i have sm to say abt it so im gonna cut it below

i took the job to sorta keep me a lil busy until december + get money. ive passed training but, dear god do i have a lot to say abt management or whatever

so firstly, when i first applied they NEVER gave a single piece of info that specified how much time we were expected to put in as a part timer. ig the general note is that, as long as ur not working any longer than 40h per week i believe, then ur considered a part time. when my boss asked me abt my schedule, i was under the assumption that it was my perferrer schedule. A DAY LATER I RECEIVE A FUCKING EMAIL FROM HIM SAYING THEY WERE GONNA DROP ME FROM TRAINING BC MY SCHEDULE DIDNT MEET THEIR EXPECTATIONS??? said expectations were not ever clarified ANYWHERE on the job posting so i had to frantically email back saying that i could still work how many hours they wanted. that saved me my job but it was fucking. ridiculous that they never said anywhere that they had an expected amt of hours for part timers. i have a friend who was still considered part time even though they worked a few hours less than what my job expected per week. so yeah, their communication is wack.

secondly, the lack of i guess? additional employees per shift. so here we have at most, 3 baristas to alternate (including me) now the reason i bring this up is bc there's two shifts, the opening and the closing. my boss and his wife (love his wife tbh she's a gem) are actually always on opening shift. boss and wife will usually leave around afternoon, and then another barista and the kitchen will show up around afternoon and work until evening. then after evening another barista switches out to work until closing at night. so that leaves 2 people (the barista and the kitchen person) inside the shop.... nobody else comes in, and holy hell whenever it gets busy it does Not get pretty, especially for only 2 ppl working. in most boba or cafes in general, there's probably about 3-4 if not more ppl working a shift, but in my establishment. it's only. fucking 2....

and its sO overwhelming when i get bombarded with 10 orders (it gets crazier near closing time for. some reason) and maybe a grubhub order or two. not to mention im also working the cash register (so the baristas are not just the baristas but also the cashiers ofc) so im going back and forth. the kitchen person has to help me mitigate some of the work, but sometimes both our efforts are often not enough to ensure drinks come out in a timely fashion. most of the customers dont mind (especially the regulars who tend to understand) but sometimes i get people who are a lot less understanding of the situation...

now idk if this is bc my boss is trying to cut costs or whatever by trying to not employee as many people but just having 2 workers is literally. not enough to handle maybe 10+ orders coming in like hellfire. it really wouldnt hurt if an extra hand showed up later than me to help out so at least a lot of the pressure gets eased down, but i dont think they have plans to do this anytime soon :\

(also sometimes my boss's expected way of preparing some drinks or orders [not all btw since i can handle it] is a bit inefficient when ur dealing w a lot of customers.... but ill go into that another time.)

Anyone also find it strange that snc just said about a month ago that they couldn't film at the Warren Museum due to "zoning issues," just for Elton and crew to turn up and declare themselves the "first and only youtubers" to ever film there, and make it know that they were "handpicked" by the current owner to film there because of how "respectful they are? And it had nothing at all to do with the money Elton allegedly threw their way or them agreeing to show up at the guy's paranormal convention, either.

And their old "pal" Corey, who claimed he was leaving snc to pursue his dancing/music/dj'ing career, recently said in an interview that paranormal is his true calling and its what he wants to do for the rest of his life?

anyway my dad has now also read the big pdf on abuse i sent him and i feel so valid??

im finally hearing both my parents say it’s outrageous my sister’s abuse went that far for so long without them seeing it and stepping in. i sort of started crying halfway through the conversation and said i still feel an enormous amount of guilt fr not being stronger in the past or the present (eg earlier this year, when ellen wanted to stay here over the summer –> my mom says she can’t stay at our house though for my sake and should see if she can stay at our dad’s or a friend’s place –> sister stays in mexico and is PISSED at mom fr choosing my side instead of hers –> refuses to speak to my mom for MONTHS meaning my mom cant talk to or even see her one grandchild on skype for months. all because i can’t get over the way she treated us and feel unable to let her back into the same house again). he said i really shouldnt, that he, my mom and especially my sister are to blame. fr yall dutch speaking ppl my mom said before that my sister altijd al heel egoïstisch geweest is, my dad today said shes meedoogenloos en rancuneus :)))) while ive been feeling weak and ashamed and guilty and disappointed w myself for years?? ive never felt this valid in my fucking life

I wish I had a job where I don’t deal with people already. This bitch came in with a matted standard poodle saying “I know the boots are matted so just shave them off and go short on the body, and do clean feet and clean face with a big top knot” and the top knot is the lil Afro like my dog Sammy has. So I do exactly that, but this bitch had cut half of it off in the back and when I asked about it she was like “oh I was experimenting hahahaha” so this thing is going to look weird and I told her that. And she knew. So I do the exact haircut and trim the topknot enough so the dog can see in front of her face and round it so it’s an actual topknot again. The dog looked beautiful, and I know it did bc I’ve never had a real complaint ever about poodles (or really any hc I’ve done at all, but ppl were always very happy with the way I do poodles. In fact, that very day an old lady who came in for the first time was so happy with her poodle that she tipped $15 and then called back to tell me how good he looked and to request me as her regular groomer)

When this bitch picks up she’s like “oh she looks fantastic! Aw, you took the topknot kinda short though...other than that she looks amazing” and I tell her I didn’t take much off, just enough so she can see and to make it an actual topknot while trying to blend what she did to it (basically giving it this weird half shaved head in the back). And she was like “ohh ok well she still looks really good” and basically left extremely happy with it still, and tipped $20.

So an hour later she calls and asks to speak to me, and just basically tells me the same thing, “she looks really good but I’m not happy with the topknot, I was going to introduce her to a breeder this weekend and now I can’t bc I promised them BIG HAIR. She and her family are show dogs, you know. But next time I’ll just bring a pic of her father so you know what I want.” and I apologized to her but I also said “basically what you’re explaining is that you did not want a topknot. You wanted a light trim on the head. And I’ll make notes of that on your cards but don’t tell the Groomer a topknot if you want something like that (that’s basically just this fucking gigantic hair monster on top of this dogs head so she can’t even see)”

So after that I wrote notes on her card. And I was sure that wasn’t going to be the last of her, and I told Josh, my manager, the next day. Rhonda was my manager on Tuesday when this happened and she said the dog looked damn good and I was crazy for leaving the topknot that long anyway and the lady was crazier for being upset that it was too short, and if she wanted a refund we don’t do that. So I prep josh for the inevitable phone call we’re going to get. The day gets kinda stressful bc our bather does a no call no show, so we have to bathe our own dogs, so I’m bathing my dog when SOMEONE walks in asking for me. Josh walks back and is like “uh someone’s here for you?” Not knowing what’s going on, and me not realizing what I’m about to walk into alone bc Josh has to watch my dog in the tub and the phone started ringing. So I walk over to the lady, see her, and I tell her “what can I do for you?” And this bitch doesn’t even say hi (and apparently when josh greeted her he was like “good mo-“ and he couldn’t get that out bc she rudely demanded to see me) and this bitch goes “you SHAVED OFF HER EYELASHES?!?!”

and, pro tip here guys. Poodles don’t grow eyelashes the way other dogs like Shih Tsu’s do. If they do, they aren’t full poodle, so this bitch is over her mentioning her dog is a show dog and so is her family is bull shit.

So I try to get out “I didn’t see any eyelashes, and you didn’t request for me not to touch them, but if I cut them off I’m so-“ and again she cuts me off to yell “THEY WERE 2 INCHES LONG!” And then points to the top knot again and pulls it up and is like “AND WHAT IS ALL THIS?!” As if I left too much now, and honestly, bitch, this looks weird from your “funny little experiment”

And then she goes on, berating me, raising her voice. Saying shit like “I DIDNT ASK FOR THIS! This is not the haircut I explaind! I said BIG HAIR!” And I told her “no ma’am you said topknot, obviously you don’t know what that is. I did the haircut exactly as it is. If you wanted barely anything of the head you should have stated so” and she tried to be like “YES I DID!!!” and at this point I’m readying to kick her out. She keeps cutting me off and any other employee would have went off on her and threatened to call the cops, but believe me, I was getting to that point. Still, confrontation, esp like this, gives me such bad anxiety that I kinda freeze up. So I finally i’m able to over talk her enough to be like “What is it that you want me to do for you? What is the point of this?” And she goes “Would you be happy if someone did this to your dog?” And I nod my fucking head, like bitch your dog is GORGEOUS AND YOU KNEW IT, that’s why you fucking TIPPED and went out of your way to say it. She goes “I want a partial refund” and now I’m smiling bc, L O L, “we don’t do refunds at this company” and boy, this dumb white bitch just gets so red in the face from anger and is like “WELL, YASMIN, BE PREPARED TO SEE A LOT OF BAD REVIEWS!!!!” And I walk away bc I’m hoping she’ll leave before I have to threaten her with the cops to leave, this is a place with fuckin animals lady. What the fuck is wrong with you yelling like this?

But yeah, that’s how my fucking week has been. This lady is beat only by the one bitch who threatened to kill me. But what sucks is now there’s going to be yelp reviews with MY NAME on it (even though my boss doesn’t give a shit about yelp, I kinda do bc now customers are going to see my name on that) over this grown ass woman throwing a tantrum bc she couldn’t communicate what she wanted. It sucks that my manager was stuck on the phone, bc he would have made sure to let her have it. But she’s not welcome back, but shit man. I guess I’ll just encourage my regulars to give good yelp reviews with my name on it. Bc when ppl give good yelp reviews, it’s rare, and when they remember their groomers name is even more rare.
