Why can’t you write with your roleplay friends? What was toxic in the part of the community you were in? I thought you wrote for America?
I do have an RP blog for America; you're quite right!
I think the main part of not writing with my friends anymore is more about that not wanting to join the rpc again. It felt a lot like being on the edge of a knife in terms of fitting in with everyone, like if I said the wrong thing at the wrong time to the wrong person - or any combination thereof - I would end up under attack. It's less that I don't want to write with them and more that I don't want to be under that sort of constant stress and pressure to conform anymore.
Honestly, that was one of the main reasons I ended up spending more time here, on my personal, and writing fanfic than on my rp blogs. For a long time, being here was just so much more fulfilling and freeing than that was.
The part of the roleplaying community I was in with my friends expected you to conform to a certain sort of elitist standards, and if you slipped at any point, you were thrown out, you were open to attack, and I just. got tired. among other things.
And I don't want to go back to that.
#musings#anonymous#bandit answers questions#i thought about it actually#because ducky's back and i love ducky and i missed ducky#and i thought about who i would put on a multimuse#eve and agatha and claire and jess#and there was one more#i don't think it was bedelia or regina but i don't remember who it is now#maybe i would put america on there with everyone else#that may have been it#i don't remember#but i just#i really don't want to go back to that#i just don't#it wasn't horrible at the time but it would be horrible now i think#and it's just not worth it#there were a lot of good friends in the rpc!#some of whom i've kept in contact with!#and who i still follow from this blog - and who follow me!#but on the whole#i don't want to go back#(also trans!claire would probably not go over well#for reasons i don't want to get into here#they aren't transphobic so please don't get that impression#i just don't want to get into all of the reasons for it here)

Edit #1: I actually have more books on the floor next to my bedside table so +6 for me from 42.
Edit #2: Read one from the list, but received my FL editions of the Daughter of the Pirate King duology... +1 to 49 books on this list.

Art21 proudly presents an artist segment, featuring Theaster Gates, from the "Chicago" episode in the ninth season of the "Art in the Twenty-First Century" series.
"Chicago " premiered in September 2016 on PBS. Watch now on PBS and the PBS Video app: https://www.pbs.org/video/art-21-chic...
Theaster Gates first encountered creativity in the music of Black churches on his journey to becoming an urban planner, potter, and artist. Gates creates sculptures out of clay, tar, and renovated buildings, transforming the raw material of the South Side into radically reimagined vessels of opportunity for the community.
Establishing a virtuous circle between fine art and social progress, Gates strips dilapidated buildings of their components, transforming those elements into sculptures that act as bonds or investments, the proceeds of which are used to finance the rehabilitation of entire city blocks. Many of the artist’s works evoke his African-American identity and the broader struggle for civil rights, from sculptures incorporating fire hoses, to events organized around soul food, and choral performances by the experimental musical ensemble Black Monks of Mississippi, led by Gates himself.

Every Baby Name We Could Possibly Think Of
Naming your baby is a big decision, and with endless options, it can also be a difficult one. Whether you're going the traditional route or want something more unique (if so, read this first!) it's helpful to have a little, or a lot, of inspiration. Ahead, you'll find nearly every baby name we could think of (close to 1,000!). These aren't just random names we found in a book or concocted ourselves - they're almost all monikers we've heard being used, or we actually know someone who goes by the name. 20 Questions for Fanfiction Writers
tagged by: @andtherewerefireworks. THANK YOU. <3 <3 <3
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
206, apparently. O.o I didn't realize it was that much. Whoops. >.>;;;;;; ...when did I end up with 55 fics in the MCU. I knew I had a lot in JTV, but when did I end up with that many in the MCU
2) What's your total AO3 word count?
2,039,621.
3) What fandoms do you write for?
Uh...currently? ...uh...let me check my pinned post. Uh. Danganronpa (not DRV3 because I haven't finished it yet; specifically Junko etc. I like rewrites and consequences more than...crossovers...right now. I would rather play with canon...ish). MCU (specifically Wanda-related etc. re: Wandavision and DSMOM, but also add the Ancient One and also add Viv Vision because I love her). JTV (because yes, I can be persuaded to write more Roisa stuff). Miscellaneous Kathryn Hahn etc. (frequently referred to as Hahnverse, specifically beyond Agatha I will also write Eve Fletcher and Claire Debella). Who Framed Roger Rabbit (because yes, I can also be persuaded to occasionally write more Jessica Rabbit stuff, although it is often highly specific to my Jess). Puella Magi Madoka Magica (just because I haven't in a very long time does not mean I can't). Noir (the 2001 anime; just because I have very little posted doesn't mean I won't write for this). The Haunting of Bly Manor (specifically Dani and Viola and we pretend that most of the last episode didn't happen because I love Viola and I like looking at the complications of that whole situation). ...probably others that I can't think about at the moment, honestly.
4) Top Five Fics by Kudos:
By kudos? 1) What Dreams May Come. 2) Finding Family. 3) Lost Causes. 4) Make Life Worthwhile. 5) Take A Sad Song and Make It Better. Surprised by that last one, honestly, but not by the other four. The top two on my stats are pretty much always Bly Manor Fix-It Fic and FF; they just switch places every now and again.
5) Do you respond to comments?
Sometimes. I respond to comments if I feel I have a response or if I want to continue the dialogue or if I'm asked a question and don't put it off for a while (I'm really bad at this, actually). But I feel like a lot of comments...don't need...a response? And have been running into the weird situation lately where responding to comments...feels like...it keeps people from commenting? Which is? A weird feeling?
6) What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Timeline canon doesn't count (I see you out there reading this) because that's not fic, that's rp. And, I mean, technically that had a happy ending. Technically. the day her line went flat. hands down. i've got some other angsty stuff that comes to mind, but like. nothing like that one, i don't think. ...but if I ever finish it all happens so quick, that may take it.
7) What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
...uh. Hm. I think probably Finding Family, because it was nearly 375k of build up (385k if you include the Holiday Special) and character development and relational development just to get to that ending so that it felt well earned and deserved and still not expected even though set up and just. I knew the ending of that one when I started it, and it was exactly what I wanted it to be, and I think it's the most happy because it's the most right and complete and just.... I don't know how to put words to it, but that one.
8) Do you get hate on fics?
I've gotten bot hate on my MCU fics by bots who want me to switch to a different fic website, which I don't think really counts. I haven't gotten hate as comments on AO3 fic, BUT I DID have a period early last year and some the year before of A LOT of Anon hate, some of which was fic hate. Specifically character interpretation. But that felt more like a campaign of hate against me and that was just the avenue they were deciding to use at that particular time because there was so much other hate they were sending, so like. ...yeah, that was a thing.
9) Do you write smut?
Nope.
10) Craziest crossover?
Heart in Motion aka the JTV/ODAAT crossover that no one asked for and then everyone asked for and then I never went back to. XD
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of!
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! Partly! Someone started translating Finding Family into Russian! With permission! You can find it here!
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! Room for One I co-wrote with @butimnotasexyrussian! IT WAS GREAT.
14) All time favorite ship?
Honestly, I don't think I have one. I love Jess/Scully and Jess/Regina. I love the Valentines. But my shipping favs are flexible at best.
15) What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
What Dreams May Come. I don't think I left it in a good spot, as opposed to If You Lived Here, You'd Be Home Now, which is unfinished and will probably stay unfinished but at least stops at a good spot.
16) What are your writing strengths?
Consistency. I'm very consistent in terms of world-building and maintaining exact specifics through a fic. I keep my through threads, usually, and if I set something up, it's probably going to pay off later.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
EVERYTHING IS ALWAYS SO LONG. WHAT IS WRITING SHORT STUFF, I DON'T KNOW HER. But also plot. And description. And setting. I suck at all of these things. Oh, also, having characters have distinct voices. All of my characters sound the same. -shrugs-
18) Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
I don't have a problem with it, but I very rarely do it. I'm worried I'll get something wrong!
19) First fandom you wrote in?
Tales of Symphonia. I was in, like, middle school, and I did not post it. Fortunately. (This does not count RP, which I was doing earlier than that. That's not the same. And to be honest, I'm not sure I would know the answer then. Teen Titans or Inu-Yasha, maybe? I'm not sure.)
20) Favorite fic you've written?
It's a toss up between Luisa and the Fox and Surrogate. Probably there's something else I'm forgetting but will remember after I post this. But honestly? It's probably one of those two.

see, here's the thing.
i like giving characters i write very specific scents. i like thinking about it, like thinking about what that says about the character, so on and so forth.
agatha smells like cinnamon, vanilla, honey, and apples - she smells like apple pie, mainly - but it's the cinnamon that cuts through the most, sharp and homey. (rereading fragments gave me the honey back; i'd actually forgotten about it.)
claire smells like vanilla. or like something achingly floral your grandmother might wear. it's non-threatening and familiar (which fits in with the clothes she chooses to wear as a politician - white, beige, non-threatening). (this is different in the valentines au where she isn't as focused on being non-threatening, on being something easily accepted.)
cian smells outdoorsy but with something fruit-like underneath it. not fruity because it's not a sweet fruit scent. it's a more masculine scent, but not entirely. ambiguous as much as they are.
eve smells like blackberries (and wine or champagne), but specifically blackberries because of this poem, which on the surface is about blackberry picking but is actually totally about sex. which. that's eve.
(jess i think smells like rose petals and honey? but that is taken directly from the first book, i didn't choose that.)
(and i think rose was strawberries and lavender? because i very specifically did not want her to just be strawberries. but it has been a while since i wrote rose, and i might be remembering wrong. it was strawberries and something.)
anyway. reason i'm bringing this up.
i've only got one specified scent in the danganronpa fic right now, and it belongs to junko.
i wanted something sharp and tangy, and my mind immediately raspberries. which are both of those and also surprisingly tart, when you eat them. (because the smell of food can also remind you of the taste of food, they're very intertwined, etc. etc.)
and then i thought. you know what would really be perfect for junko?
blue raspberries.
#musings#bandit writes fic#dr1 end rewrite fic#agatha harkness#claire debella#cian masters#eve fletcher#jessica rabbit#rose solano#junko enoshima#she also smells like something else but the something else hasn't been decided yet#but very strongly blue raspberries#for thematic reasons#and to keep with her general appearance characterization sort of thing

Idk if any of y'all are up, but if you've got a specific character I write for that you want to see give comfort, now is probably the time to ask for it.
...I will be keeping it to the recent characters (Wanda, Agatha, Eve, Claire) because I've already written x Reader stuff with them in one form or other and that's what I'm most comfortable with.
...but you can also ask for older characters (Jess and Bedeals, primarily) because I'm open to doing them. I just don't know if, you know, I can hit up any of my older characters.

i’m not the original asker that asked about your rp comments tonight, i’m a second asker. i should have mentioned that in my ask sorry!
but you’ve mentioned being in a “part” of the rp community and in your reply to me you said “in that circle”… and you’re talking like you’d have to go back to the same group of people that seem to have caused you issues. but nobody would be forcing you to have to be in that same circle of people again
so I guess i’m confused as an rper myself because i don’t get the whole “this specific circle of people won’t accept my character”, when you can just entirely avoid those people from your past rp time and write with new people??
Oh, definitely, for sure, I could find new people to write with. I've done that before, too!
It's just - it is incredibly hard to start up a new account with characters from small fandoms without having a built in circle of rpers to write with. Agatha, for instance, I could start an account with and probably draw people in provided that I set her up on her own account and not as a side-account. But Eve? Claire? Like - I could start a multimuse with all of those characters, and Agatha (and maybe America) would be the only two to get interactions (except for Jess, and that's because I've had Jess for a long time and I know at least one person who would love me to bring her back).
That's not even getting into - yes, I could start a whole other account for a multimuse, but I really don't want to be switching between being logged in here and being logged in there. One of them would become a main account and the other would likely get abandoned, which would really just mean I wouldn't be on the rp account as much as I should be to be considered, you know, still an active account.
The answer to that, of course, would be a side-account. But a lot of following-followbacks rely on knowing who is following you, so if I follow from this account, people will only see that a personal account is following them and ignore the potential side-account.
Like...there's some logistics to this, too, is I guess what I'm saying.
And if I went back to primarily rp at this point, it would be because I want to write again with one of my friends who rejoined the rpc. Because I miss her. But she is in that circle.
It's a lot of complicated. XD
#musings#anonymous#bandit answers questions#i think this is more of a#i'm nostalgic for a time of my life that i don't really want to go back to#than it is an i actually want to rejoin the rpc again#outside of my america blog#that is mostly dead i really should go do replies there#rp writing would draw away from fanfic or profic writing#and honestly i would rather focus on those#i just#miss rp a lot sometimes#also let's be real#that old circle was HUGE on older women single mothers#they would LOVE eve#XD#(don't judge me for that; i know who i hung around with)#also who are you nonnie#if you're an rp friend you don't have to stay on anonymous#i don't bite!#...mostly!#that's agatha she does most of the biting
