There’s something poetic that Eva Duarte was murdered by her fae husband, and then one of her mortal daughters murdered her own fae husband, and the other was prepared to murder her fae husband.

Let Vivienne hate Madoc. Just let her.
Sooooooooooo I just saw some posts saying that Vivienne could love Madoc because she only believed that she would hate him when she vowed to hate him-
and even if that is true............
Let her hate him. Just let her.
First of all, can we have a Duarte sister who doesn't forgive Madoc for killing their parents?
I want to see him face consequences for murdering them, even if he had his explanation for doing so. I want to see him feel guilty about it and not be able to forget it. And Vivienne is perfect for this.
Jude loves him (albeit in an uncomfortable manner) and Taryn seems to have some love and loyalty to him too.
And honestly, I cannot emphasise how awful their parents' murder was for the Duarte girls. They saw it right in front of their eyes, and then Madoc kidnapped them and took them away from the only home they knew back then.
(And if Justin and Madoc can both be fathers to Jude, then the same goes for Vivienne. Madoc's her bio father, Justin's her adopted. He took care of her for 9 years-don't tell me she didn't love him.)
We as the readers are not really affected by it, because Jude barely talks about her parents and their murder, and doesn't express much grief after ten years because she's bottled it up and pushed it down.
But the Duarte sisters are. They knew their parents and they miss them, especially Vivienne who knew them longer and had better and clearer memories of them.
And honestly, Madoc was an awful person for that. He's an awful person for killing two people in front of children. Justin I get, because the guy tried to axe him, but he could have knocked Justin out-don't tell me he wasn't that strong or reflexive.
And Eva? He had no need to kill her at all. He could have grabbed her-AND THERE WERE THREE SMALL CHILDREN RIGHT FUCKING THERE!
It doesn't matter if he had an instant killing instinct. He's still a terrible person for killing Eva and Justin.
And do you know how much it must have affected Vivienne that Jude and Taryn treated their parents' murderer like their own father? Put yourself in her shoes. Imagine the betrayal, the hurt, the fury and pain.
We've been thinking and looking at TFOTA from Jude's perspective for far too long. It's time to dive into other characters' minds and see it from theirs.
Eva and Justin aside-let's go to Oak.
We know that Madoc was going to put Oak on the throne for his own gain, and we know that this would have traumatised Oak. Imagine being a king, having to make so many decisions-and Oak would still have some degree of responsibility, even with Madoc as the regent. Imagine having so many people looking at you for so many things that an adult should handle when you're so young.
Oak would've been traumatized, and you know it. And Madoc knew it too, and he still decided to go forth with the plan.
But where does Vivienne come into this, you ask? Why don't I just post this under a Madoc hate rant?
(I don't hate Madoc).
Because Vivienne knew what I just told you too. She saw Oak who was young, and he was almost 9 then (I think) and she was nine when her parents were murdered and she was stolen away.
And honestly, I'm pretty sure she hated Madoc in that moment. Pure hatred.
But! you say. But she was going to help Madoc adjust to the mortal world! She wasn't going to leave him alone.
Well, you know what, you're right. But I think that Vivienne loves Madoc in the faerie way-angry one moment, loving the next. She says she hates him and she's always wanted to kill him, and then she goes and...........helps him in the mortal realm?
I think maybe he wouldn't leave her alone, because she's his child, and he'd forever be coming to her door to bother her or something like that.
I don't think Vivienne loves Heather in the faerie way-she loves Heather in a more human way. (I love Vivienne and Heather so much, you have no idea, as much as some of you love Jurdan). And honestly, good for her. Good for both of them.
And honestly, I don't hate Madoc. It's just that when I think of him with relation to Vivienne, then I really start to hate him. That's all.
So, this is the end of the rant. Feel free to disagree and argue with me. Hate comments are always welcome.
@madockisser what do you think about this?

Jude Duarte is first her MOTHER’S daughter, then Madoc’s
People always say Jude’s personality is a copy paste of Madoc, which to some degree is true. He raised her as a father and very much shaped her. But she was like that before too… just like her mother.
In TWK we get the snippet of Jude taking the training wheels off her bike and getting all bruised up while Taryn stuck to the side walks. And then in TCP we get Madoc’s short description of her mother as being clever and brave and unafraid if the face of Faerie.
She burned down the General’s house with a mother and unborn baby inside so she could get away. To protect the people she loved, Jude would have too.
So yes, Jude was polished by Madoc, but she was shaped first by Eva Duarte.

the way the catalyst (or at least an important piece in getting the plot to start and continue) for the plots in all the Faerie books is a Faerie falling/being in love
Roiben being in love with Kaye is why she didn't die at the Tithe, why she was able to bring down the Court of Flowers, it's why he trusted and listened to her advice even when he had no real reason to trust her
Kaye being in love with Roiben is why she wants to help him so much, why she declares herself to him and solves his impossible quest, and why she brings down the Court of Flowers to save him
Ravus being in love with Val is the only reason she gets help with her addiction and is kept safe from other Fae
Jack being in love with Hazel is the whole reason she goes to the moonlight revel and gets enough info to save Fairfield
Severin being in love with Ben is the whole reason Ben and Hazel have any interactions with him and get his help to fight the Alderking
Madoc being in love with Eva is the reason he asks her to come back years and years later and kills her when she refuses, the reason why he took Jude and Taryn to Elfhame
Cardan being in love with Jude is vitally important, most of his decisions are made because he loves her and trusts her
Vivi being in love with Heather is the reason she learns to respect and understand humans more than her sisters ever did, the reason she's willing to start all the way over with Heather just to be with her
Oak being in love with Wren is the reason he continues to trust and help her when she literally tries to kill him and locks him, why he risks his sister's trust and the High Court never letting him return to help her
Wren being in love with Oak is the reason she tried so hard to help him, the reason she makes such confusing decisions, she's confused, she loves him so much but she's supposed to let him die
there are tons of Fae scattered throughout the books who are trapped in servitude or prison because they had to save their lover, at any cost
(ofc familial and platonic love also matter and affect the Fae but in an entirely different way)
and the way this all connects back to that line in either Valiant or Ironside saying that Faerie do everything with their whole self, love and hatred, they can love and hate for centuries, promises will never be forgotten and heartbreak hurts deeply
a Faerie loves so deeply in this incredibly genuine way and when a Faerie is in love it thoroughly influences their actions
they tell the truth even in ways they may be unaware of (or deeply ashamed of)
(also also also the way most of these pairings are Fae being in love with mortals is soooo meaningful because like despite many of these characters hatred or distaste for mortals and the Fae's general dislike of mortals they can't help when they fall in love with one as naturally as if they were any other Faerie)

So like, is Jude the best blade crafted by a mortal man?
Justen Duarte was offered the secret to learning the practice of a 100 years in a single day If " he parted with something important to him" or something of that nature and until like a week ago I had somehow interpreted that as " he needs to leave elfhame and successfully steal something important a.k.a Eva" I was wrong and it's just that he needs to let go of something important to him.
But what if I was half right ?! what if by escaping elfhame with Eva and giving up (at least momentarily) his life's passion of smithing ? (I can't remember the correct term for it at the moment) he fulfilled the requirements and created the most dangerous weapon ever to exist( Jude Duarte)

ENOUGH JURDAN. I'M SICK OF THEM
All right, I'm just going to say it upfront-
I am SICK of Jurdan.
There. There you go.
No, I don't HATE it. It's a very interesting ship, but I'm SICK of seeing SO MANY posts about it on tumblr when I simply want to see JUDE or TARYN or even VIVIENNE by themselves, NOT JURDAN.
It's just, everyone makes a big deal of Jurdan when the series isn't about that-their love story doesn't even start until the second book. And even then, the political plot overshadows it, and honestly, TFOTA isn't a romantasy-it's a political series with the romance as a minor subplot. Hell, Jude isn't even as obsessed with Cardan as much as people say she is. She thinks about other people too.
And it's annoying. Jurdan fans want MORE AND MORE from Holly Black when they already have three whole damn books of Jurdan tension and angst. Goddamn, let the rest of us enjoy TFOTA and the sequel series without Jurdan being shoved down our throats.
And, also, YOU HAVE FANON JURDAN.
AO3. TUMBLR. WATTPAD. FANFICTION SITES. SO. MUCH. JURDAN. SO MANY JURDAN STORIES. BRILLIANT WRITERS. AMAZING PLOTS AND TENSION. ALL OF THEM. SO GO EAT UP YOUR JURDAN THERE!
I really want to see more of some minor characters like Vivienne, Grima Mog, Madoc, Oriana, Eva Duarte, Justin Duarte-and many more. (Maybe even a combo)
Seriously……I don't hate Jurdan, but I've had enough of it. Simple.
Sigh………goodbye for now. I like Jurdan at some points, but now it's getting too much.
And honestly, I don't hate them-I'm really sorry if it came across as a hate post. I swear I don't hate them, I'm just kind of tired.
It would also be cool if writers could write about some others characters-I myself can only write so much, and I don't always want to read MY writing alone. Thanks for reading this. Feel free to leave comments of any kind.

So jude said that her and taryn are splitting image of their father in tcp, and we all know that vi looks like madoc
So Eva's image is forgotten in traumatic memories, that are dying more and more by the years?
