Do EV Owners Suffer from Charging FOMO? A Behavioral Take
The New Kind of FOMO Fear of Missing Out—FOMO—isn’t just about social events anymore. For electric vehicle (EV) owners, it’s quietly making its way into their charging habits. It’s not uncommon to see EV drivers plugging in with 60% battery left or detouring miles just to top off at a familiar spot. But what’s really driving this? The answer may lie more in behavior than battery.
The Psychology of 'What If?' Unlike traditional cars with predictable gas stations on every corner, EV drivers still navigate an evolving map of EV charging points. This uncertainty breeds a subtle anxiety: What if I can’t find a charger when I need one? That’s where charging FOMO kicks in. It’s not about the need, it’s about the fear of not being able to meet a future need.
Plugging in ‘Just in Case’ This behavior often results in drivers charging more frequently, even when they don’t truly need to. Some feel more in control by sticking to a routine station, while others obsessively check apps to see which EV charging points are free. It’s less about range and more about reassurance.
Is It Helping or Hurting? Charging FOMO doesn’t necessarily point to a real problem with infrastructure, it highlights a psychological need for certainty. The more accessible and visible EV charging points become, the more this behavior may shift naturally over time.

The Role of DC Fast Charging in EV Charging Solutions
Tumblr media
Fast, effective, and widely available charging infrastructure is becoming more and more necessary as electric cars (EVs) continue to gain popularity as a greener and more sustainable form of transportation. The proliferation of DC fast charging stations is among the most significant advancements in this field. These high-speed DC fast chargers, which provide a quicker and more practical option to conventional charging techniques, are drastically changing how EV owners power up their cars.
What exactly is DC Fast Charging
Instead of using the alternating current (AC) that regular charging stations utilize, DC fast chargers, also known as direct current fast charging (DCFC), uses direct current (DC) electricity to charge electric vehicles. The primary distinction is in the way power is sent to the car's battery. DC fast chargers avoid this stage and give DC power straight to the vehicle's battery, whereas AC chargers deliver electricity to the car more slowly and need the car's onboard charger to convert it into DC. As a result, the charging speed increases.
What Makes DC Fast Charging Crucial?
The speed of a DC fast charger is by far its greatest benefit. Depending on the vehicle and the charger's power output, DC fast chargers can charge an EV to 80% capacity in as little as 30 minutes, whereas a typical Level 1 or Level 2 charger may take several hours to fully charge an EV. This makes long-distance driving and daily use more convenient by significantly cutting down on the length of time an EV owner must wait for their vehicle to charge.
A charging infrastructure that can accommodate more vehicles in less time is also becoming more and more necessary as EV adoption keeps increasing. DC fast EV charging stations are capable of supporting this demand, offering high-power electric vehicle charging capabilities that are crucial for the future of electric mobility.
Working of DC Fast Charging
The purpose of DC fast chargers is to supply an electric vehicle's battery with high-voltage direct current power. The majority of DC chargers can produce power outputs between 50 kW and 350 kW and run at voltages between 400 and 800 volts; more recent, sophisticated devices can produce even higher outputs. The vehicle's battery capacity and the charger type frequently determine the power output.
When an EV is connected to a DC fast charger, the car interacts with the charger to figure out the best charging conditions, like voltage and current. The vehicle's battery then receives the proper power from the charger, quickly increasing its charge.
Insight into the future of DC Fast Charging Stations
The network of DC fast charging stations is expanding along with the market for electric vehicles and electric vehicle charging. To accommodate the growing number of electric vehicles on the road, governments, automakers, and private businesses are making significant investments in developing a complete charging infrastructure.
However, there are still difficulties. Due to the high cost of construction and upkeep, DC fast charging stations are still not widely available, particularly in rural locations. Concerns over grid capacity and the effects of charging at such fast speeds on the environment are also raised by these stations' high energy demands.
The future of DC fast charging is promising despite these obstacles. It is anticipated that new developments like wireless charging, vehicle-to-grid connectivity, and ultra-fast charging technology would increase charging efficiency and speed. We may anticipate significantly quicker charging times and greater accessibility to fast charging stations as battery technology advances, making EVs a more practical and affordable choice for all drivers.
Conclusion
With the speed and convenience that drivers require for daily use and lengthy travels, DC fast charging stations are revolutionizing the electric vehicle market. The future of DC fast charging is bright, despite the fact that infrastructural and accessibility issues still need to be resolved. EVs will become a much more alluring and useful choice for customers worldwide as more stations are constructed and technology advances.
My EV Point, a venture started with the aim of bringing sustainable mobility to India and provide fast charging solutions, has created a nationwide network of EV fast charging stations in order to provide flexibility to users to go freely on long trips on their electric vehicle without worrying about the continuously decreasing levels of the battery and the location of the next charging stations. We are unwaveringly devoted to accelerating your EV fast charging experience and providing exceptional services.

Navigate Cross-Border Charging with City Energy Go
Tumblr media
As electric vehicles (EVs) become more prevalent, the infrastructure to support them is also evolving rapidly. For EV owners who travel across borders, understanding how to navigate EV charging points Singapore and beyond is important.
This blog will explore how to facilitate cross-border charging and the key considerations for EV owners traveling between countries.
The Importance of Cross-Border Charging
Expanding EV Adoption
One of the major challenges to widespread EV adoption is the availability of charging infrastructure, especially for long-distance travel. Cross-border charging infrastructure plays a critical role in alleviating range anxiety and promoting the use of EVs for international travel.
By ensuring that EV drivers have access to reliable charging points in multiple countries, it helps make EVs a more viable option for a broader range of drivers.
Ensuring Convenience and Reliability
For many EV owners, the convenience and reliability of charging infrastructure are paramount. This need is addressed by providing well-maintained and strategically located electric charging stations Singapore.
These stations are part of a broader network that extends into neighboring regions, allowing for smooth and efficient cross-border travel.
Key Features of an Effective Charging Network
Comprehensive Coverage
A wide network of EV charging points Singapore ensures that drivers are never far from a charging station. This comprehensive coverage is essential for both daily commuting and long-distance travel, providing peace of mind for EV owners.
Fast and Regular Charging Options
To accommodate the diverse needs of EV drivers, it’s important to provide both fast and regular charging options. Fast chargers are ideal for quick top-ups during long trips, while regular chargers are perfect for overnight charging or when drivers have more time. This flexibility ensures that EV owners choose the best charging solution for their specific needs.
Interoperability with Regional Networks
One of the key advantages of a robust charging network is its interoperability with other regional charging networks. This means that EV drivers use their accounts to access charging points in neighboring countries, simplifying the process of cross-border travel.
By partnering with other charging providers, it ensures a seamless experience for drivers traveling internationally.
Navigating Cross-Border Charging
Planning Your Route
When planning a cross-border trip with an EV, it is essential to map out your route and identify charging points along the way. Mobile apps that provide real-time information on charging station locations, availability, and pricing make this process straightforward. By using such an app, drivers plan their trips more efficiently and avoid potential charging delays.
Understanding Charging Protocols
Different countries may have varying charging protocols and connector types. Charging stations equipped with multiple connector types accommodate a wide range of EVs. However, it is important for drivers to familiarize themselves with the specific requirements of their destination country to ensure compatibility.
Managing Payment and Access
One of the challenges of cross-border charging is managing payment and access to different charging networks. An integrated payment system allows drivers to use their existing accounts to pay for charging sessions at partner networks in other countries. This usually eliminates the need for multiple accounts and simplifies the payment process.
Monitoring Battery Health
Long-distance travel puts additional strain on an EV’s battery. It is important for drivers to monitor their battery health and avoid frequent fast charging, which accelerates battery degradation. By using a combination of fast and regular charging, drivers optimize their battery’s lifespan while ensuring they have enough range to complete their journey.
Benefits of Cross-Border Charging
Enhanced Travel Flexibility
With an extensive network of charging points and interoperability with regional networks, EV drivers have the flexibility to travel across borders without worrying about finding a charging station. This makes EVs a more practical option for international travel and encourages more drivers to switch to electric vehicles.
Improved Driver Experience
Providing a superior driver experience by offering reliable and convenient charging solutions is key. From the ease of finding a charging station to the simplicity of the payment process, every aspect of the charging experience should be user-friendly and efficient.
Supporting Sustainability
Facilitating cross-border EV travel helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promotes sustainable transportation. As more drivers switch to EVs and take advantage of the growing charging infrastructure, the environmental impact of transportation be significantly reduced.
Tips for Cross-Border EV Travel
Keep a Charging Schedule
To ensure you always have enough range, plan your charging stops in advance and keep a schedule. This will help you avoid running low on battery and reduce the risk of unexpected delays.
Carry Necessary Adapters
While many stations are equipped with multiple connectors, it is always a good idea to carry any necessary adapters for your specific vehicle. This ensures you charge at any station, regardless of the connector type.
Stay Informed
Keep yourself informed about the latest developments in charging infrastructure and any changes to cross-border travel regulations.
Conclusion
Navigating cross-border EV charging is essential for ensuring a smooth and efficient travel experience for electric vehicle owners. Rex Cliffe (from my GDA Mark Graysted AU) Origin Story Summarized ^_^
Most is spoilers for his origin comic!!! Yes its super emotional fr Canon divergence starts at the paragraph highlighted in green!!! TL;DR is in the tags lmao.
Soooo… @radkatzzstuff I just kind of. Went crazy writing and was supposed to keep it brief but got a liiiiittle too invested SO. I wrote a lot. Don’t read this as a fic, I can write better than this, it’s more like a draft than anything. YAAYYYY ^_^
+*.–––––––––––––––––––––––––––.*+
Rex Sloan was born a thief. His family stayed in a broken down house (which he was never sure belonged to them, but it was a roof, and that’s all that mattered), often sending him out to get whatever he could for them, smaller and faster and easier to pity. The first things he learned was that the rest of the world did not care about them, the second being how to evade being caught, and the third that everything was transactional—even anything free still came at a price.
When he was 10, a man offered his parents all the money they’d ever need in exchange for their son. They did not hesitate. He wasn’t sure if he was surprised.
The man tells him his name is Radcliffe, that he works for the government and wants to help Rex do good for the world. Rex isn't sure that he beleievs him, it goes against everything he knows, but at this man is providing for him, so he'll stay. For now.
Rex is trained in gymnastics and fighting, and he's given things. Things he'd never had—physical and not—and feeps… at home. Cared for. Radcliffe even calls him son. So he trains, even when he has to push his body to it's limits, even when he's.not sure if he wants to, because he couldn't let him down.
Radcliffe falls into place as a father-figure in his life. Radcliffe happily abuses this position to groom Rex into the perfect obedient assassin at his beck and call, slowly, like a frog in a pot of boiling water.
When the experimental injections to make him stronger are proposed, he's not sure if he wants this. But Radcliffe couldn’t hurt him—he called him "son", and his biological father rarely did that—and he’s obligated to do this, right? So he agreed to it all. He was paying him back. They make his muscle tissue denser and stronger as he trains, and when he’s strong enough, they do the surgery to give him his powers.
He's given implants that allow him to charge particles in inorganic objects to an unstable amount, and his tissue strong enough to not burn or be effected at all. They first go in his hands, then his elbows, then feet, then knees. It aches, but he pushes through.
When he’s sent out into the field for the first time, told he was taking out the bad guys in the world, given his first name to take out quickly and quietly, Radcliffe hands him an ID with the name “Rex Radcliffe”.
It feels like home.
Rex doesn’t question what he does, not really, because Radcliffe wouldn’t lie to him! He was different! Radcliffe cared about him! He’s given gifts, and praise, and more affection than he’s ever received in his entire life, and the ability to do something that actually matters to the world. All he has to do is sneak in packages filled with charged baseballs and trinkets to locations he’s given. He even has a cool sneaky suit, and a motorcycle!
So, he travels the world, taking out targets quickly and quietly, never getting caught. Radcliffe praises him, tells him he's incredible, that he's like a son to him, and Rex beams. Even when his ears start to ring, never quite going away, head starting to fill with static, bones starting to ache against the added weight, he doesn't stop.
He's doing good for the world.
…Then he’s told to take out the director of the Global Defense Agency, and to take out the whole damn Pentagon while he’s at it.
Rex… isn’t sure anymore.
He takes a drive on his motorcycle just to think about it all, when he meets a girl who calls herself “Atom Eve”. She's beautiful, and a superhero, like him. He thinks he is. Was?
He helps her take down the guy she’s fighting (Killcanon) and then he just… spills everything to her. She seems to understand, though, in a way. She doesn’t ask questions, just offers him a place to stay to get away from his father. Says he never has to go back—and that he shouldn’t, because they’ll just try.
But he does, Sneaks out during the night. Just to see if she was right. To collect his things, to look Radcliffe in the eyes one last time—because that’s his dad.
But when he sees the pictures of Radcliffe and his old military buddies, when he starts asking questions instead of giving “yes”, when Radcliffe throws him to the ground and yells at him, when he sticks up for himself and gets hands around his throat, when he reaches out—a new instinct he never quite got rid of—and,
His head explodes.
Rex stares up, covered in blood and gore and brain matter, repeating “I didn’t mean to, I didn’t mean to, I didn’t mean to”, and starts moving through too-familiar movements to rig up the building.
He watched the place he spent so long in, the first place that felt like home, go up in flames.
He runs back to Eve, who lets him in sobbing and crying—everything finally catching up to him—and clings onto her and repeating it over and over, that he didn’t mean to, didn’t mean to, didn’t mean to, and she holds him through it until he’s calmed down enough to figure out how the hell to get the rest of the government off their backs.
One day later, they head to the rubble and get rid of all the rest of the evidence, and end up taking down what remained of the entire property and destroying all of Erikson’s dreams with it and taking on a new identity: Rex Splode. Not Sloan, like the parents who sold him away; not Radcliffe, like the man who turned him into his pet; but Splode, like a hero who could do good for the world.
Rex and Eve get together immediately, and Rex is… happy? He thinks he is, at least. Eve is happy, now that she’s not alone anymore and has someone who understands her and admires her powers. Her parents are as happy as they can be, now that Eve has a boyfriend who can look after her in her superhero-ing escapades. His family is the happiest, in their big house far away with a daughter they love.
But Rex… Rex is restless. He’s not sure what to do with himself without orders, missions, someone to turn to when he’s not sure what to do. It’s all he’s ever known. He’s never been without it.
The nervous energy builds up until it, well, explodes. Charging things on accident, brushing into things and watching them explode, more and more the higher-strung he is. He charged something in Eve’s house once, and had to wrap it up and throw it into the road, blowing a hole in the asphalt but not damaging any houses.
Rex is doing well, though, and is figuring it out! Slowly, gradually, but he is! He has everything he could ever want now! He gets to have fun, go out and about, find some kind of stupid hobby, talk to someone his age, run around, and is in love! God, he loves Eve so much. She loves him, she gets him, she cares for him, and she’s too good for him. She’s always there for him when he needs it, and he does his best when she needs him too. They’re figuring it all out, together, even though they don’t know what they’re doing. He’s so lucky to have her as his girlfriend.
But he’s scared. Scared he’ll mess up again, scared he’ll hurt her or her family on accident, so scared that his fucked up unstable powers will kill someone on accident all over again.
And it comes to a head over a year later, when he was trying to get someone out of rubble and was knocked over, falling on top of them, kneeing them hard in the stomach, watching their shirt light up and his biggest fear come true. Stumbling through the debris, covered in blood and gore, and still holding what was left of their hand, all Rex could do was repeat, “I didn’t mean to.” Eve finds him, guides him back home, does her best to be there for him even though he flinches away when she tries to hold him. Even though she’s shaking too. Even though they’re both afraid. Eve was always stronger than him. He admired her for that.
Rex is gone by the morning.
He uses money he pocketed from Eve’s parents to bus his way to the Pentagon, and breaks in with the papers he still kept from his time with Radcliffe.
It doesn’t work smoothly—he knew it wouldn’t work—and agents appear from thin air and apprehend him. All he asks, looking where he memorized the cameras to be, is to see the Director.
Rex waits in an empty room for a while before he just appears in front of him.
“The name’s Director Cecil Stedman, kid.”
Rex hesitates, then holds out his hand.
“Rex. Rex… uh, Spl– Cliffe. Rex Cliffe.”
Rex doesn’t take his hand, but the deal is still sealed.
Rex Cliffe is home again.
(I might add a continuation to how he meets Mark and stuff later idk!!!!!) (or even clean it up to post to ao3… heh…… who knows………)

That item was positive cash flow that enables Fastned to start self-financing the capex on its new stations. It was only in the second quarter and it was not huge, but the moment that more money enters a company than leaves a company to keep it running is a huge milestone. The critics can no longer complain about burning cash.
That this milestone was reached in the second quarter makes it extra significant. The second quarter is normally the worst quarter of the year. The next three quarters will be a lot stronger, and are likely to produce even better positive cash flows.

Rain, Snow, or Shine—Can You Still Charge?
You’re out on the road, clouds rolling in, and your battery’s running low. The question hits: Are EV charging points built to handle this kind of weather? The short answer? Yes—but let’s break it down.
Designed with the Outdoors in Mind
Most EV charging points are built to be used in the open. Whether it’s scorching sun, pouring rain, or freezing cold, the hardware is generally tough enough to keep functioning. That means you can usually charge without worry, even when conditions get rough.
Of course, just like any outdoor tech, it’s smart to be a little cautious. Avoid handling connectors with wet hands or when standing in deep puddles, and always follow basic safety practices.
Extreme Weather Situations
Heavy snow or ice storms can be another story. While many EV charging points are weather-resistant, access might be the real issue. Snow-covered stations, blocked driveways, or iced-over plugs can make things tricky.
Planning your trip with weather in mind and checking for active charging stations ahead of time can save you some cold and frustration.
Charging in Humid or Coastal Areas
If you’re near the coast or in a humid climate, you might wonder about moisture and corrosion. While the stations are sealed and tested to resist moisture, keeping connections dry and clean helps ensure smooth charging over time.
Final Thoughts
EV charging points are built for real-world conditions, but being mindful of your surroundings never hurts. A little planning and basic caution go a long way toward making your weather-challenged charging experience smooth and stress-free.
