A/N: This is all fanfiction, I do not know The Chargers, or anyone associated with anyone on the team. Also you do not have permission to copy and post anywhere else. Thank you and Buckle up

The more time went on, the more mad Justin was. He had an interview over the phone with a radio station to which Justin had avoided the question when asked about Sara. Then her publicist reached out to him as well as a member asking about signing a NDA. It was too much for Ashley, who handled athletes on a smaller scale. In fact Justin was the first athlete on a big scaler she handled. Her phone was blowing up left and right when the major media companies flooded his publicist.

His photos were everywhere on instagram. The media pages put photos of him and Sara next to each other. Fans were harassing his family and friends. Carly and Isabell as well as his cousins had to lock down or just deactivate their profiles. He had gotten off the phone explaining the situation to his extended family, who were blindsided. Mitch was next, he said there were people outside his hospital asking about Sara and saying they recognized him from photos.

Within minutes Ashley found an article published. 25 things you don't know about Sara Wozniak's new boyfriend Justin Herbert.

The article went into detail about his family with photos and names. It also brought up past relationships.

Taylor's name was mentioned as a rumored relationship.

Justin wanted to break everything around him. This couldn't be happening, he had done so much to protect his private life and now it was blown up for millions of people to see and read about.

He thought about David's words her team controls when they share that information. Especially if she is doing press.

She had a break to do the fashion show. Plus for her new movie. Yeah how convenient this gets published. He thought bitterly.

He remembered when she posted videos of herself on social media when she was at his house. Of course she maintained that she was in a background that wasn't recognizable but it had him wondering.

Once he got home he was going crazy. He kept checking his phone, brushing through all of the notifications on instagram. He saw she didn't even respond back to him. But her fucking team could. It was now late Monday and Justin felt like he had run a mental marathon.

He was pissed as he saw nothing from Sara. He was sure she had a break in between and she couldn't call him.

Eventually his phone rang, but it was only Ashley. He picked up dreading to hear what was next. "Hello?"

"Justin, I managed to get in contact with the man who wrote the article. Jack Lange, he said he was fed all of the information about you and Sara as well as the photos were handed to him to post." There was a pause. "So you're telling me someone from Sara's team went to him voluntarily?"

"Yes. Now I don't want to make accusations. But Justin, one photo was taken directly from Sara's phone." He knew which one she was talking about. The selfie of them kissing on New Year's Eve. Sara was protective of her phone, only she and him knew the password. Justin huffed in disbelief. "So she must have told her team to publish it."

"Does she have anything coming up that she would want any publicity in the press?"

He answered quickly. "Her fashion show, and her movie." He shook his head. He trusted her.

"All we can do is hopefully have this blow over." They hung up and Justin was more upset than originally

He looked around at all of her stuff. Before he knew it he began packing it up.

The universe hated her.

Alex brought her phone back from the hotel while she was in mid scene. It caused her to have a bad set day which meant re-shoots. Despite it being a closed set fans were outside her hotel and by her car asking about Justin.

By the time she got to the hotel it was 3pm Abu dhabi time which meant it was 3 am in Los Angeles. She wanted to throw up upon looking at her phone. It was obvious Justin was pissed.

Erika had called her from back in LA and filled her in before Heidi and the others got to her. She told her about the article and the photos that were leaked from her phone. "Fuck" Sara whispered.

Then it was time to talk to Heidi. Who told her she got in contact with Ashley Justin's manager about signing an NDA which she wasn't pleased about. "Look I appreciate you guys being on top of this, but I don't want anyone to do anything until I talk to Justin. Which will be once he gets up." She looked at the time and saw it was now 5am Los Angeles time. "Just keep me updated." She hung up and began pacing. Once she took a few deep breaths she dialed Justin's number.

After a few rings he picked up. "Baby, I ju-"

"So nice of you to finally get in touch while I was stuck dealing with the fallout." He growled. Ouch. The fallout? "Justin, this isn't some scandal. Our relationship is out. I know that it isn't ideal but."

"It was your plan wasn't it?" That stopped her in her tracks. "Don't be ridiculous."

"Ridiculous? My family is calling me wondering why people are outside their house, following them around. They are in magazine articles. My privacy has been blown up. I've had to dodge cameras outside my own fucking house!" Sara was quiet. She knew it was going to be bad but not this bad. "Justin, you should have texted me or called my management. They would have helped you."

"So you told them about us?" Sara was confused. "What are you getting at? I didn't say anything, they were blindsided by the article as I was. It said it was confirmed by my rep but they never reached out."

He huffed again. "Sure." She was quiet for a few minutes. "Are you seriously saying that I purposely did this?"

"I'm not stupid, I know how this works. It's just so convenient that you have all this going on and there was talk of me coming to the show and it just drops. Let me guess you were planning on ambushing me and taking all of these photos."

Sara was in disbelief. "Justin are you fucking serious? Do you really think that little of me?" Justin was silent. "I don't know what to believe anymore. All of you Hollywood people are the same."

She was mad now. She understood him being upset, but she thought that he'd be able to get past it and they could work on a solution together. But this? Attacking her, accusing her of doing something so vile. Sara didn't know what came over her, her hot-headed ways coming back.

"Justin give me a fucking I'm not a damn I influencer who relies on exposure."

"It's the same fucking thing!" Justin yelled. "You are all the same!"

"You know what? I'm not Hannah Ann. I'm not calling the paps!" Sara was trying to keep her voice low. But then she realized a big mistake.

Shit. Shit. Shit.

She fucked up. "How do you know about her?" He spoke slowly as well and she knew he was on the verge of bubbling over. She was silent. Tears coming to her eyes. "Sara, answer me right now."

"When we were first together. You gave me your phone to look at the script for your Chipotle commercial I went to Instagram and saw your messages." She was crying now.

"ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW!" Justin was pacing his floor. He was so mad he was seeing red. "You went through my private messages? How do I know you didn't leak those?"

"Justin, I just looked. I was so insecure about everything. I would never leak that. Just I didn't do it with the photos" She was desperate now. She wished she was on a plane to Los Angeles right now. "I'm sorry."

"Were you ever going to tell me this? Or were you just going to act like it never happened. Cause if you are insecure imagine how I felt seeing who you were with. How do I know you're not fucking someone right now?"

She was hysterical "I would never do that to you. Just like I knew you wouldn't do that to me. I'm so sorry, please Justin."

"You're nothing but a typical Hollywood attention seeker like everyone else. You know what Sara? I'm sorry I told you I loved you. In fact, I think we should stop seeing each other." Her breath caught. "What?" She squeaked out.

"We're two different people, different worlds. You need someone who likes the spotlight, I can't give you that."

He kept rambling. "Who knows who else you went through. We were moving too fast. I mean I couldn't even get space." Sara was again in disbelief. What on earth was he talking about?

"Justin, how can you say that? I love you and I don't care about the spotlight. Justin please I'll be in Los Angeles in a few days just let me explain."

"Don't bother. I'll have your stuff outside your door. My manager will drop it off, since you just want to go through them. Have a nice fucking life."

The call ended. Sara couldn't breathe. She was sobbing hysterically that her manager Alex busted in. "Sara oh my god. She grabbed her friend/client and made her sit down. Quickly grabbing a water bottle she made Sara take some sips. "What on earth happened?"

Finally after she got her breathing together again she grabbed her phone and dialed Erika.

"Sara? What on earth happened?" She knew her best friend was a mess based on the heavy breathing and shaking voice. "What's going on?"

"Justin broke up with me."

The past few days were hell for Sara.

She was finally getting on a plane for Los Angeles. Normally this would have excited her. She was getting to go home to see Justin and spend a little time with him before the fashion show. Which he said he was going to attend, but now everything was up in Limbo.

Well she wasn't sure what to think. On the other hand, she thought he just needed space and that he was going to call her. But three days have passed and not a word from him. She tried calling him a few times, but it went once to voice-mail. She didn't bother to leave any.

She spent that night crying over the phone with Erika and Bella, who swore she was going to kill him when she landed.

Another thing was dealing with her family. They had been calling non stop, and she didn't have the energy to deal with them. What was there to say? Yeah I was in a secret relationship for almost seven months but now that's not a thing excuse I just got dumped? Once again, poor Sara, always the bridesmaid never the bride. The only Wozniak sister to not be married.

She would call them once she landed.

The flight was long, and as they got closer to landing she wished it was longer. It was about 6am when her plane landed on the private runway at LAX. Erika was waiting for her instead of Justin and when she came down the stairs she collapsed in her best friends arms. "I'm so sorry Sara" she rubbed her friends back as she sobbed. "I cleaned up your stuff. Ashley, I'm assuming Justin's manager dropped everything off." Erika stated as they got in the car. "How was filming?" Erika treaded lightly as she drove off to Sara's house.

It was hard seeing her best friend this distraught. She wasn't even this upset when her and Harry broke up and that was a longer relationship. "I'm so sorry. He never deserved you. Why the fuck would he even attempt to date a bad bitch like you if he couldn't even handle it?"

Sara managed to crack a small smile so Erika continued. "Seriously? This motherfucker growing a nickleback beard thinks he can do better than you? You gave your heart and soul to him? I mean for real this man couldn't even support your career. You're better off without him." She reached over and grabbed Sara's hand. "He treated you like shit. You deserve so much better."

Sara nodded as tears rolled down her face. "It just fucking hurts."

"I know sweetie, but at least it was only six months. You are still young! Let's get out there and have some fun!" Sara nodded. "Just give me a bit please. I don't want to fall back into clubbing all the time, drinking the pain away. I'm past that." Erika nodded. The rest of the drive was talking about filming and trying to get her mind off the breakup. They pulled up to her house and she saw cars. "Erika, what is this?"

Her best friend smiled. "Well since everyone else is in town for the fashion show we are doing a fuck Men party." Erika unlocked the door to their house and for the first time in a bit Sara genuinely smiled. Bella, AnnSophie, and Sydney were clad in sweatpants. Behind them was a sign that said "Fuck Men" surrounded with balloons. There was a set up of Sara's favorite comfort foods and desserts as well as wine. Sara wanted to cry again out of happiness that her friends managed to do all of this. "Thank you guys!" She tightly hugged each and every one of them. "Oh my god Sara, look at the best part!" Sydney squealed and pointed towards the other wall.

On it was a dart board, Justin's team picture was tapped there. As much as she laughed at it her heart did ache, though she didn't dare show it. Despite the fact that it was a busy week for all of them, she still planned on going to his house to explain herself. She knew him well enough to know that he would be in LA for some time.

As much as the girls did their best for this fuck men party they all knew their friend was putting on a brave face. At one point Bella asked. "So I'm assuming Justin isn't going to the show."

Erika spoke up. "Well the extra ticket I emailed to him was confirmed." Sara's ears perked up. "Really?" Erika nodded. "Yes and that was a couple days after this breakup" the girls all gasped and Sara's heart was beating fast. He was coming, despite it all he would be coming. Maybe this week won't be so bad.

It was late when the girls went to bed. It was nice having them all here. They all laughed and cried and watched bad rom coms before they fell asleep in a big fort in the basement. The next morning was total chaos as they had to be in rehearsal and dress fittings. The Amazon camera crew would be there. So they had to make sure hair and makeup was done. As they all got ready Sara was in a much better mood. She would give Justin his space but the fact that he would be showing up at the show to support her was huge.

Good things were happening.

The girls arrived at the studio, and oh and awed at their outfits. Sara flung through the racks of her outfits she would be modeling. Since Rihanna was performing in the superbowl, they had sports theme clothing and Sara saw a 'Chargers' crop top hoodie with the matching blue bolt thong. She was confused until a stylist came up to her. "Rihanna insisted you wear this since you're dating the QB!" Sara smiled. It would be a big step, and she wanted Justin to see that.

There were skimpy pieces. She would be walking in four programs. As she sat in the chair to do a trial run of hair and makeup she looked over at AnnSophie, who smiled at her. "You're excited for Justin to be here?" Sara nodded. "Yes, it's going to be awkward. But him being here shows me that he is fighting you know?"

"Don't forget he owes you a massive apology. The fact that he thinks that you were behind this. Rip him a new asshole Sara."

She laughed. "Oh I'm gonna give him shit. I can't believe he really thought that. Me? Attention seeking. I do need to apologize though. It was wrong of me to look through his messages like that." AnnSophie laughed. "I mean yeah it was toxic, but you guys were so unstable, and you didn't know anything about his past. So I mean it's whatever."

Once they were done, they went over their routine and the music. Cardi B was performing during certain sections. As Sara walked she was being praised by the runway coach. After reaching the end of the runway and doing her pose she became nervous. Of course all of the seats were empty but the those would be filled with celebrities and camera crews. Not to mention this was going to be live.

After rehearsals she would be sitting down one on one to film her section. She was clad in her fenty robe and chair as the artists where touching up her makeup. A camera crew came over to film with the interviewer. "So Sara how are you feeling? You looked excellent out there." She smiled "nervous for sure. But it's an excited nervous. This is a big deal, and Rihanna and her team have worked so hard to make this a reality. I want to reflect that and make her really proud to see me up there."

"Well she has some really high praise for you." Sara's eyes widened and the interviewer laughed, knowing that the audience was going to eat it up. "Really? Oh my god what did she say?" He laughed. "I can't tell you."

"Please?" "No!" "Ugh" She pouted teasingly and he laughed. "So word on the street is that there is a special guest supporting you tonight" She was confused. Since when did an Amazon camera crewman know? "I have a lot of friends coming out to support me and I feel so blessed." They still persisted. "Someone in particular you're really excited about?"

"I'm excited about everyone!" The camera cut. Knowing they weren't going to get anymore information out of her, they moved to the next model. Sara took a deep breath. See Justin? I could be private she thought.

She had an interview with some of the other models that they shot. It was late when everyone was done, Bella and Sara decided to catch a late dinner while everyone else went back to Sara's place. As they sat down an Italian restaurant. Bella had to say something. "So I heard what AnnSophie told you in the chair earlier."

Sara took a sip of her cocktail. "And?"

"I don't think you should just forgive Justin when you see him. Granted, you were in the wrong for looking at his messages, but he was more in the wrong. Not to mention the way he treated you in the beginning."

Sara looked down at her menu. "Thank you for being supportive. I know you weren't his biggest fan."

"Believe it or not I've grown to like the guy. I just wished you guys communicated your issues about fame. I'm sorry the article got out. Do you have any idea who did it?"

Sara shook her head. "No idea, I haven't actually looked at it. Erika told me it looked like a hack, but I don't know."

"That's just the pictures though, what about what was actually said?" Again Sara shook her head. It sounded like we were being followed. There were photos of Justin taken outside my house in his car. They probably followed us and put two and two together." Bella shook her head. They are always one step ahead of us.

While Bella was placing their order Sara sat there and wondered if Justin was going to the fashion show why didn't he text her? Should she text him? Sara shook those thoughts off and decided that she would message him after the show or before. Let him come to her.

—--------------------------------------------------------- Taylor was exhausted. They were still in playoff season and with the superbowl drawing near and the NFL awards she had a lot of assignments. She was so looking forward to another vacation she desperately needed.

While she was practically falling asleep at her desk, her cubicle partner was on his phone scrolling for the latest updates. Taylor was pretty set for her NFL update show but you never knew if something exciting dropped. The fun part of journalism.

"I see Emmaunel Acho is being an ass again." He huffed as he was looking at his phone. "Oh god what is his hot take now?" Taylor rolled her eyes. "He's attacking Herbert for his private life now. Saying he's a celebrity QB."

Her eyebrows furrowed. "What on earth Is he talking about? Justin is one of the most private guys in the league." Her partner laughed. "Really Taylor? You're the one that keeps up with this gossip. You're constantly on social media!"

"I've just been focusing on NFL news regarding the playoffs. The only news I've heard on the Chargers is that they fired Joe Lombardi. I don't care about thier personal life." It was a lie, but Taylor hadn't been on social media due to news coverage and preparing for the awards.

"Well it was just revealed not too long ago that Herbert is seeing Sara Wozniak." Taylor's face paled. "What? That's probably just a rumor." He shook his head. "No, there are photos and her rep confirmed it. Apparently it's been a thing since July 2022." Taylor got up, she was going to be sick. While the thought did pop up in her head, she really didn't think that Justin would actually date her. Not to mention July? She thought back to that night that he came over to her house after the injury in October. He was there eating, laughing, and even exchanging flirting. It was only when she tried to take it to the bedroom did he suddenly have a conscience?

"That motherfucker." She whispered. While she was mad, truth be told she was impressed that he did manage to land someone like her. But that didn't mean he was allowed to get away with this.

She was going to hurt him the way he had hurt her.

She just had to find a way to get to Sara

Guys I have a thousand messages in my inbox I can't answer. Yes apparently its true Justin is seeing Sara. That's all I know. Idk anything about Taylor, although I will say it makes no sense because of twitter and her seemingly giving confirmation.

It was electric, and exciting. Sara understood why her model friends were addicted to this. The lights, the glam, and the fashion. In some weird way, it calmed her nerves. They group took pictures, Rihanna surprised everyone by giving them gifts sets with sentimental items. After speaking with her Sara never felt so confident in herself. As she was wearing her first outfit of the night, a sparkly bra with matching panties and garter belt she was ready and eager to see Justin in the crowd. He still hadn't messaged her anything but she didn't think about it.

Her family had sent her a good luck message and she couldn't help but be a little bitter at the fact that it was always this way since she was a kid. Good luck and see you after the show was their usual response. Her mom did say they would be watching and that they needed to talk and Sara knew what was going to happen, Katie had messaged her with a 'stop ignoring us, you have a lot of explaining to do and moms going crazy on her cruise.'

All Sara messaged in response was that she would explain later. Right now she didn't want to focus on that. She wanted to nail her walks and see Justin after.

"5 minutes! Everyone line up in places." As the girls got into place, stylist for doing the last and final touches. As her hair was being touched up and the designers were picking at her outfits she gave an excited smile to AnnSophie, who would be opening the show. They all heard the cheers of the crowd outside the curtain as the movie introduction was played. Bella turned around and placed both gloved hands on the side of her friend's face. "Breathe Bitch." Sara smiled. "Is that for me or you?" "Both'' the girls giggled. Sara looked down at her 'O' ring on her right hand. Twisting it slightly she smiled at it. Remembering the night he gave it to her. She took a deep breath as she watched AnnSophie walk out on the stage.

One by one she watched the models ahead of her walk up. "Okay when Bella hits the midpoint walk out and keep a steady pace." She nodded and when she saw Bella hit the part she got up and exited to the stage.

The crowd cheered as she stepped out and began walking to the beat of the music. She tried to steal a couple of glances at the audience but she would have no idea where he would be sitting. As she reached the end of the runway she blew a kiss and held it for the photographers. As soon as she turned her back to walk to the set she began to frantically look, she saw AnnSophie and Bella's mom smiling at her and she returned it. But she had no idea where the NFL players would be.

There wasn't any time to think or breathe once backstage because the stylist was already there making her disrobe behind a curtain and putting her in the next set. This would be the football portion, and Rihanna would be singing herself. As she changed and the makeup artists got to work she looked over at Erika "anything on my phone?" She shook her head no with a frown. "Have you seen him?"

"I haven't heard anything so far. He probably will sneak in, just to cause less attention."

As she switched into the Chargers tank, the artist drew a bolt on her face. As quickly as she came in she was rushed out to walk again. The noise became louder as she came out.

Sara had a few changes before the end. As she did her final walk with the others to close she did one last look with no success.

Once they wrapped up it was time to go to the after party. As she saw everyone hugging friends and family she kept looking. After twenty minutes and more of the room clearing out she went in search and found the stage manager. "Excuse me, do you have the guest list?" She nodded, starstruck that someone was speaking to her so kindly. "Yes I can pull it up."

"Is Justin Herbert confirmed?" She went through her iPad a few times. "It says he accepted his ticket but he hasn't checked in. He was marked as a no show."

Sara shook her head. "He wouldn't do that. Check again."

"Miss Wozniak. He would have been with the NFL section and it was cleared out a while ago. Before the show ended."

"Sara! There you are! We are running late. Your limo with your party is waiting. "Come on, we have to get you ready for the after party!" She let herself be dragged away.

Tears were now streaming down her face as she recognized the all too familiar feeling. Suddenly she was twelve years old and feeling lost watching all of her castmates be congratulated and hugged by friends and family while she had to wait for a text telling her to find a ride.

"Okay Sara- oh my god are you crying! We have to redo your makeup. Oh my god we are running behind now." She pulled her arm out of the stylist and ran off.

Half of all UAE residents consider switching to electric vehicles, survey finds

Twenty-five per cent are waiting for more EV options to be launched to make a purchase, according to Audi Abu Dhabi

About 52 per cent of UAE residents are considering switching to hybrid or electric vehicles as the increase in fuel prices is impacting the way consumers are thinking about their means of transportation, according to a survey by Audi Abu Dhabi.

Twenty-five per cent of people surveyed are waiting for more EV options to be launched before making a purchase, the research, which polled 1,000 residents in the UAE, found.

“Interest in EVs has continued to grow organically over time, however increasing petrol prices has certainly accelerated the shift in consumers’ attitude towards EV adoption,” said Mark Austin, Audi Abu Dhabi general manager.

“When considering energy efficiency across the full lifecycle of producing, transporting and using fuel — typically referred to as “well to wheel” — electric vehicles offer high efficiency and the lowest carbon emissions per mile.”

There is a continuing global move towards the use of EVs that are charged from the electric grid as more consumers look to use transport powered by clean energy.

While petrol prices in the UAE declined slightly in May, they rose by more than 10 per cent in February, 10 per cent in March and 16 per cent in April, as global oil prices surged beyond $100 a barrel.

The prices announced by the UAE Fuel Price Committee in April were the highest they have been since they were deregulated in 2015 to allow them to move in line with the market.

In 2020, prices were frozen by the Fuel Price Committee at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. The controls were removed in March 2021 to reflect the movement of the market.

Industry experts expect crude supply to be tight as the EU considers a ban on Russian oil imports and expectations of higher demand in the US, the world’s largest economy, increase as the summer season looms.

The easing of the coronavirus pandemic restrictions in China, the world’s largest importer of oil, is also supporting crude prices.

About 14 per cent of those polled in the UAE said they recently bought a petrol car but wished they would have purchased a hybrid or EV instead, according to the survey findings.

“Depending on the type of car you drive, the average cost of filling a fuel tank can be upwards of Dh270 versus Dh8.25 to fully charge an EV battery with a 110 kWh charger. With EVs, owners also save on operating expenses,” Mr Austin said.

EV owners spend 60 per cent less on fuel than owners of internal combustion engine vehicles, according to a 2020 Consumer Reports study. Owning an EV will save the typical driver $6,000 to $10,000 over the life of the vehicle, compared with owning a comparable petrol-powered vehicle, the study found.

Residents in the UAE are now planning their car journeys more carefully, with about 25 per cent saying they use public transport a lot more now, while 14 per cent of drivers have purchased an electric scooter or bike to use over short distances, the Audi Abu Dhabi survey revealed.

Remote and flexible working options are also helping people in the UAE to mitigate rising fuel costs, with 19 per cent saving more on fuel expenses by working from home, the research found.

Christmas was getting closer.

Sara couldn't believe it was the last Saturday before Christmas. She was over at Justin's with Erika, wrapping last minute things. Her gifts all came at once, so did the groceries she ordered to make her desserts for his family.

Her sisters had called and expressed disappointment that she didn't come home. Alyssa had invited her to come back to St.Louis to spend time with her and the kids while Brent was on the road for a few games. She had to make some excuse that she had booked an interview that had to be done the day after.

She felt bad, but at the same time she didn't. Sara truly felt at home with Justin's family. Even thought she hadn't met Mitch and Isabel she knew that they would get along well.

Christmas music was playing softly as the sound of cutting and tearing of wrapping paper was heard throughout the large house. Sara looked at Nova, who was sitting next to her, observing the process. She took one of the stick-on bows from the bag and stuck it on her head. The girls laughed as they watched the cat try to shake it off. Finally she felt bad and plucked it off the poor baby's head. "Sorry Novi" She patted the spot.

"Isn't it crazy how we are wrapping gifts and playing Christmas music and we can go for a swim right now? It was a cool sixty six degrees, however it was sunny and they could go for a dip in the pool if they wanted to. "When does Justin's family get here?"

"Wednesday. We are celebrating Saturday before the team leaves Sunday morning." It was a bummer that they were on the road for Christmas, but she knew what Alyssa was feeling with Brent.

Erika was leaving Sunday, with Sara dropping her off before catching the game. Justin wanted her at SoFi since Joe and his crew would be there. But Sara decided to lay low. Heidi messaged her the other day saying that there was online speculation that she was seeing someone. It had started with the smile she gave the paps being out and about. Someone had decided to start something. Well it wasn't a rumor if it was true. But the public didn't need to know that."

Luckily Heidi put out an old interview from over the summer that was published in September . Sara said she was single (she hadn't met Justin yet) and that sorta settled the small speculation down.

Still, she decided to lay a low profile. She could clean the house, get everything ready for when his family got here. As much as she loved seeing Justin in person, sometimes TV got the best angles. Erika finished up her gifts to bring for her family and took Sara's as well. She always got something for her friends' parents, as well as her brother.

The rest of the evening was filled with baking. (Sara made sure to clean up so Justin wouldn't get annoyed with any leftover baking mess) the gifts for Justin and his family were placed under the tree. She did notice a few that were labeled for her from Justin and she squealed like a little kid.

The gift she was most excited about, which was the calendar, came In a vanilla envelope the other day. AnnSophie had done an excellent job editing and putting everything together. Sara and Erika admired every photograph and giggled when she told the story on how Justin almost found out about his gift and how jealous he got thinking the sexy photoshoot was for the public, when really it was for his eyes only. She wrapped the gift and hid it on her side of his closet.

Erika spent the night in the guest room. Sunday morning they were at the airport at 5 am so she could make her flight. They hugged and wished each other a Merry Christmas. Erika wouldn't come back til the 2nd and they would depart for Abu Dhabi on the 5th together.

On the drive back to Irvine, Sara teared up at the fact that the 5th was only two weeks away. She didn't want to cling, but she wanted to spend all of her time with Justin. She regretted not going to his game. Even being in the same room as him would calm her down. After going back and forth with herself, she decided to stay at his place. She could cook, play and cuddle with Nova, and stay in her pajamas.

One she pulled into his garage she brewed some coffee and took out the eggs and veggies to make an omelet. After the meal she began stretching and looked up YouTube pilates videos. Once she did that she did Joey's meditation routine he gave her.

After that, she did a deep clean of Justin's place, changed Nova’s litter, began seasoning the salmon, and was on a zoom call with her agent. Charlie facetimed her to express disappointment she wasn't coming home for Christmas. Her heart broke, it wasn't his fault that his grandpa was a stubborn man and refused to cut off his bitch of a sister, or realize that his daughter didn't want to follow the same path as her sisters.

She occupied Charlie's sadness by having him tell her about his class Christmas party and the gifts under the tree for him and his siblings. He told her that he was hiding in the bathroom to call her so his siblings didn't find out and try to hog her time. Again, as much as she wanted to scold him for not allowing his siblings to take a turn she understood.

Once they hung up. (She heard her sister yelling for him) the game started and she put the salmon in the air fryer while she made the guacamole. So far things were looking good for the Chargers. Sara knew how important it was for them to win the rest of their schedule. Justin was very dedicated the past week. On his day off he did go to the facility to lift for a bit and then spent the rest of the week reviewing video and practice.

As Sara was cutting the ingredients up she was trying not to drool over Justin in the royal blue uniform. He looked good in everything he wore, but those and the navy jerseys were the ones she liked the best.

She was just cutting up and putting everything together during the third quarter. The quarterbacks both exchanged interceptions.

However, Justin threw another one, and the overall play calling was awful. She was nervous, the titans would soon capitalize on the scoreless period. That was all she needed, Justin to be in an awful mood.

Then things changed. There was a touchdown, and almost another one.

She was on her seat the entire game, as the fourth quarter winded down and the titans were close to scoring she began stress munching and pacing around the house, Nova following her thinking it was playtime.

Of course the titans scored and she was sure it was heading into overtime until her man threw a thirty five yard pass to Mike and set up the game winning field goal.

"FUCK YES!" She screamed and picked up the cat to run around the house. No sulking Justin tonight. She was feeling good, maybe she could blow him.

She thought long, maybe the calendar gift was better to give to him before his family came in.

It was really late by the time Justin got home, they did all of the usual routine before heading out. They spoke about Christmas plans. Justin and Sara were going to celebrate the 23rd and 24th with his family before everyone (except Sara) would head out to Indianapolis for Monday night Football.

There was a part of Justin that wished he would get over his fear and claim Sara publicly. There would be no secrecy, no sneaking around. They could go anywhere they wanted, see anyone they wanted.

As much as Justin would like that he was terrified. He wasn't well known outside the NFL, Sara was a global superstar.

He was anxious to get home to his girl, who only had a couple weeks left to spend time with. Again, he shook that thought from his head as he finally beat traffic and turned down his quiet street. Justin came into the house and immediately saw the dimly lit room with the lights on the Christmas tree and windows. Sara was sitting down by the table with a bottle of champagne and a plate with delicious food. He bent down and greeted Nova first before greeting his other lady.

She got up and met him in a heated kiss, him lifting her up easily as she wrapped her legs and arms around him. They broke away, breathless. "You did so well today." She breathed. He smiled. "Even after two interceptions?"

She rolled her eyes. "Only you would kill the moment. He set her down and she went over to the champagne to pour two glasses. Handing one over to him she held hers up. "To being the number six seed." Justin clinked his glass against hers and drank. Normally he would be irritated over the early celebration, but for the first time he felt confident that despite the injuries, despite any and all adversity this team was going to make the playoffs.

They both finished and set the glasses in the sink. Sara looked up at him and smiled. "I need you to do me a huge favor"

Justin couldn't think of anything besides getting her out of her clothes. So he was ready to agree with anything. "Yes?"

She had a shit eating grin on her face. "Say turnt"

He groaned as she laughed her head off. "Not that. Come on." Referring to his post game interview. He smiled as she calmed herself down. But she continued the teasing. "Also can we talk about last week when you said we should be booing on an off day! You are such a nerd."

He turned pink. "Do you just spend all day watching my interviews like a creep?"

She smiled "Don't deflect. You were totally that kid that reminded the teacher that there was homework." He was silent for a bit. Finally he mumbled. "Well I didn't do it for no reason." She threw her head back

"Oh my god I would have totally hated your guts in high-school!"

He laughed and grabbed her hips to pull her towards him. "I probably wouldn't have liked yours either. But now I do. I want to be all up in them." She rolled her eyes. "Okay that was smooth." He laughed and bent down to kiss her again.

They made their way into his bedroom where he pushed her down on the bed. As he began to undress he saw her get up. "Wait, I forgot to give you one of your Christmas gifts." He was confused. "Babe we aren't exchanging til my family is here."

She laughed from inside his closet. "Trust me I don't think you want to open this in front of them." She came out with a slim item in green wrapping paper. She handed it to him. "I thought you might like this."

Justin Herbert's Calendar

The cover was Sara on her knees. An Oregon Jersey with the number '10' no doubt his. "I knew I wasn't crazy! I noticed something was missing" She sat beside him and rolled her eyes. "Glad to know that's what you care about." He kissed her head. "I love it."

"Open it." He tore the plastic wrap off and carefully studied all of the months. January had her in his Chargers jersey doing the huddle pose. He laughed and then groaned when he flipped it to February. The picture was the one he got jealous of a week ago. He looked up to see her shit eating grin. "All this time you had me believing this shoot was for everyone to see yet it was for my eyes only?" She nodded. Throwing the calendar he grabbed her. "You minx" He growled as he climbed on top of her. He lifted her shirt off of her and began to suck on her neck. She moaned as he hit the spot he knew where to go every time. His lips trailed down to her breasts as he began to suck and nibble on the pebbles that were her nipples.

That was it, he wanted to play dirty, she was going to match his level. As much as she could, she rolled her hips and clenched down so she could spasm around him. It worked. He gasped and groaned. "Damn it." She giggled and it trailed off into a moan as he began to move. Gripping the sheets, her vision blurred as Justin adjusted his speed and his strokes to hit the spot. As she was about to finish he stopped and pulled out. Before she could protest he grabbed her hips and flipped her over. He reentered her and moved at a fast pace. "God baby you feel so fucking good." He breathed.

Sara couldn't even form words, just lost in the moment. Once again just as she was about to burst he slowed down. "Justin. What-" She moaned as he hit the spot going slow. It was pure torture, also a bit surprising since this wasn't usually his style.

For Justin it was confusing as well. But something in him went animalistic. He wanted to see how far he could take this, and make her fall apart completely on him. When she went to Abu Dhabi, he wanted her to be thinking of this moment, as well as the others they shared.

As she moaned underneath him, he decided to tease her some more. He no longer was hitting the spot but sped up and she was still a mess. "Baby pleasss" She dragged out, her moans turning breathy. Justin had enough he needed to flood her pussy soon or he would explode. He pushed her down on the mattress before putting all of his power back towards her sweet spot. Once he hit it at the correct power and speed she screamed and the coil in his lower belly broke loose. Throwing his head back, he made a noise that wasn't even human.

His vision blurred and he was not even aware of where he was. His partner was face first on the bed and he collapsed next to her. There was about a five minute silence except heavy breathing. Eventually, they got up and showered before falling asleep quickly. Justin knew that he was going to be exhausted tomorrow (or later today) but it was worth it.

The rest of the week went by in a blur. Wednesday Justin was at practice and then had to pick up his parents. Sara had her fenty shoot. It was a candy land theme, along with the fashion show. Christina Aguilera was going to perform, as well as Cardi B during the show and the after party.

It was a long shoot, one that she didn't get home til midnight, at that point everyone was asleep, besides Justin, who waited up for her. "My family wanted to stay up, but they were too exhausted from the flight and dinner. She nodded and she was tired as well, so the last thing she wanted to do was socialize. She got ready for bed and cuddled with Justin.

The next morning she woke up to an empty bed, football didn't stop just because family was in town. She looked at her phone to see it was 10am. Fuck she hadn't meant to sleep in that long. Sara already heard voices in the kitchen. Damn it.

She quickly jumped in the shower and did light makeup. She didn't want to look dead in front of his family. Doing a once over in the mirror, Sara decided she looked presentable enough. With a deep breath she opened the bedroom door and headed to the kitchen. Holly spotted her and hugged her, as well as Mark and Patrick. Carly was back in Oregon with her family. After the initial greetings she had to ask. "I thought Mitch and Isabel were supposed to come?"

Patrick rolled his eyes. "Oh they are here, they went with Justin to work out. They are huge fitness enthusiasts." She should have figured since Mitch did play football. "Speaking of fitness, did you lose weight?"

Mark hit his son's arm. "Didn't your mother and I teach you anything?" She laughed. "No it's fine, I have been working out more. I'm walking the Fenty show. So I'm trying to tone up a bit."

Patrick smiled. "Well that's great! Soon you will be running sprints with us!"

"Oh god no, your brother ran with me on a treadmill and I wanted to die." Pat laughed. "Let me guess he bragged about it?" She smiled, remembering the little fight they got into about a couple weeks ago. "Yeah he apologized once he figured why I gave him the silent treatment for a few hours."

Holly shook her head. "Sounds like my middle child." She gestured to the healthy breakfast spread on the table. "I made this for everybody. Mitch and Isabel should be back any minute." As on cue, the door opened and Sara took a deep breath. She had to admit, of all the members of Justin's family she met, she was most nervous about Mitch. It was probably because he was the oldest and obviously the wisest being in medical school. Also he was the same age as her. Her anxiety told her that he wouldn't like his younger brother being involved with an older woman, even though the rational side of her told her that was stupid. However, anxiety was winning the battle right now.

A tall, short haired man, and an elegant woman walked in. With warm smiles on their face. After they told Pat about their workout their eyes landed on Sara. She smiled and decided to walk over and hold her hand out. "Hi I'm Sara, you must be Mitch and Isabel. It's very nice to meet you." She began to laugh, a nervous habit. "I'm sorry I'm really nervous."

They both laughed. Isabel stepped in, a slight Spanish accent. "You're nervous! I was terrified! That was the whole reason we went to the facilities with Justin! I had to burn off the nerves." She laughed again. "I'm sorry I'm such a big fan of your movies and your show!" Mitch laughed. "She made me binge all three seasons in quarantine over the phone." Sara laughed. All the nervous tension melted away. She felt bad when Isabell mentioned the picture they took in NYC back when Sara thought she was just another fan. Small world wasn't it?

Everyone got along so well, and even though Sara loved Justin's family she wished her only family had more traits like the Herbert's. She saw so much of her family except without the toxic family members running their lives. They all shared a nice breakfast before making plans to go to the grocery store. As everyone got ready to leave. Holly looked at Sara, "aren't you coming?" Sara blinked. "Um, I don't think Justin would like that very much."

"Oh come on! We will wear a disguise! Unless paps are out this early." Isabells eyes widened. Sara laughed. "Trust me paps aren't around this area unless they are scheduled."

"Celebrities call paparazzi?" Sara rolled her eyes. "It's very common, if I have a movie coming out and I'm in a very public place my team will call them, otherwise I stay very low."

Mitch jumped in. "I have to admit when he told me about you I was shocked, considering he is so private." Sara smiled

"Same." Grabbing her sunglasses, baseball cap and mask. They headed out in a rental SUV. They pulled into Albertsons and began to shop. Sara thought about doing a mini cookie day and started throwing all of the ingredients in her cart.

Overall the entire group spent almost $300, and no one seemed to know or care who Sara or Justin's family were. They loaded up the car and stopped at Starbucks for holiday drinks. Mark was driving and Sara tried to hand him her card in the drive through. He laughed and told her to put it away.

They got back to the house and Sara told Holly about the cookie tradition. She loved it and with some resistance from Patrick and Mitch, they all began looking up recipes. The entire group laughed and joked around as they got everything together.

Justin came home to a sweet smelling house and his family and Sara sipping on wine and laughing. He smiled, and his heart swelled. He walked up to her and kissed her in front of his family.

The group tried to not pay attention, but this was something they would never have thought they would see in a million years. Justin, their shy, reserved, private Justin was kissing and showing affection for a girl who was the total opposite of him. This was one for the history books. Before anyone could mention anything, Justin snuck one of the turtle cookies. Munching on one, he groaned. "Oh my god these are my favorite." Mitch and Patrick followed suit and the decision was made that turtle cookies would be made.

As they did in Oregon, the group played board games. (Of course Justin had to win) at one point they had put on Christmas movies that basically served as background noise and they continued their conversation. At one point Justin looked over at Sara, who he saw was totally relaxed and smiling. He imagined how she was with her family, it was probably tense and stiff with talks about money and high society shit.

Once again, his mind drifted to January 5th Sara leaving. He saw the plane ticket in her bag. Her flight left at 5:00am, it just made things harder for him, that he had it down to the hours, the seconds that she would be leaving him for a few months. As she was sitting on the couch seat next to him, he felt that she was too far away. As she was listening to a conversation that Mark and Isabell were having regarding biology, she felt herself being lifted up and put on Justin's laugh. At one point Holly turned to Sara. "Oh I forgot to get the spinach for breakfast tomorrow."

"Oh don't worry, it was in my cart." Justin was confused. "Did you instacart?" Sara shook her head. "No, we went to the grocery store." He stiffened underneath her. "No one saw you with my family right?"

Mitch cut in. "Jesus bro. It was a trip to the damn store. We were in and out. No one in Irvine cares." Pat laughed. "You're not that famous."

Sara turned to face him. "I was careful, had on my disguise." He nodded "hopefully no one saw you guys or had your phone out and for some reason she felt offended. She got up off his lap and went to the kitchen. The last thing she wanted to do was start a fight in front of his family.

As she pulled out a dessert plate and filled it with cookies she felt Justin's eyes on her. She met his eyes and smiled trying to mask her hurt feelings. He looked around, seeing his family involved in their own conversation, he got up and walked over to the kitchen behind Sara. Grabbing her and pulling her to him. He spoke in a low voice "What's wrong?" She shook her head. "Don't lie to me" He kissed behind her ear.

She sighed. "Later, I don't want to have this discussion in front of your family." She leaned into his embrace. They both were unaware that his family was whispering about the unusual romantic gesture and pda he was giving Sara. Sure in high school or college when he would introduce girls they would hold hands or cuddle. But this was new. Mitch and Isabell side-eyed to each other smiling as Justin was embracing with Sara, he was so wrapped up in her he didn't see his brother take a picture with his phone. Patrick was giggling. Holly decided to end her boys teasing their brother.

Getting up from the couch, she clapped her hands. "Okay guys! Let's put on some Christmas movies and have some cocoa. The rest of the group came into the kitchen and began to make the hot chocolate along with the whip cream and all of the toppings. Sara didn't even see Holly throw all of this in her cart at the store.

They stayed up, til 11pm watching the classic Christmas movies. Once again

Justin would be tired but he was happy. As he and Sara laid down he remembered he had something to discuss. They were in bed as he pulled her to him. "So what did you want to discuss?" She looked at him with confusion and he smiled. "I didn't forget. I know you were bothered by something." She sighed. "Well it's just that I felt that you were so paranoid about me not being out with your family it was just offensive." Justin nodded as she continued. "It made me think of what happens when this becomes public."

Justin thought about it. "Well I mean I don't think we have to make an official statement. We just lay low."

"But what happens If someone does discover us? Or it leaks?"

Justin stiffened. "Do you plan to reveal something? Are your friends going to say anything?" He thought back to David's words

"No, but these things always come out eventually. Baby I just want to prepare you if it happens. I don't think this is something we can wing."

They kissed, both to melt their worries away. "Well i'll be gone, so that will take any speculation or heat. Only close friends now. What about your teammates?"

"I trust them one hundred percent. We will be okay. We have been very careful, no one is going to find us out. Now let's just enjoy our early Christmas." He began to bite and suck on her neck. "We aren't having sex while your family is here."

He groaned while she laughed. Nova eventually joined them and Justin sighed.

"I'm so glad I spent money on a bed for you Nova."

Audi e-tron first drive: Quick, comfortable and familiar

Even after a few minutes behind the wheel, it’s easy to forget the Audi e-tron is electric. The SUV is not outrageous or radical, but rather pedestrian and effortless. Audi didn’t invent something new with the e-tron. The German car company stuck a competent electric powertrain in an SUV, and in the process, created a fantastic vehicle that should resonate with shoppers.

The Audi e-tron is the new benchmark in electric cars. Some EVs are larger, faster and have a longer range while some are smaller and more limited. The e-tron sits in the middle. Priced at $74,800, the e-tron is a great size, has a moderate range, and features faster charging than a Tesla Model X, Jaguar I-Pace, or Chevy Bolt.

I spent a day in an Audi e-tron and drove it hundreds of miles over Abu Dhabi’s perfect tarmac, around winding mountain roads, and through sand-covered desert passes. The e-tron performs precisely how a buyer expects a mid-size Audi SUV to perform. On the road, the e-tron is eager and quiet, while off the road, over rocks and through deep sand, it was sturdy and surefooted.

Just like the 1980 Audi Quattro normalized all-wheel drive, it’s clear the German car company hopes the e-tron does the same to electric power.

Driving The e-tron

The car zipped down an Abu Dhabi highway. On this quiet morning, the traffic was light. Abu Dhabi’s police recently installed speed cameras at regular intervals, so with the cruise set at 140kmh, and Masdar City fading in the background, the mountains on the Oman border grew larger. The drive was uneventful; it was a regular commute. The e-tron’s electric motors served up power in an effortelss fashion

This is likely how many Audi e-trons will spend their life. While the vehicle has capable off-road abilities, most will probably never hit anything more than a parking lot flowerbed. Like most SUVs these electric vehicles will likely be used as people movers, ferrying people to and from work and school. In this task, it’s comfortable and familiar, but there’s so much more to Audi’s first EV.

Drop the e-tron’s pedal to the floor, and the mid-size SUV jumps to life. The new Audi electric AWD system provides the traction needed to launch the vehicle forward. There are 400 horses available, and the torque is instantaneous and plentiful even at highway speeds. Audi says the 0-60 time is 5.7 seconds and that’s quick enough for most buyers.

The e-tron’s capability was put on display racing up a mountain road. The jaunt took about 20 minutes, but that was more than enough time for the e-tron to show off. As it whipped around narrow roads, the e-tron held tight to the pavement and handled the winding road with decisiveness. To be clear, the e-tron is not a Pike’s Peak racer. The body roll was on par with other sports SUVs; it wasn’t offensive, but noticeable. At speed steering is tight but lacked informative feedback — a theme I discovered continued with the all-wheel drive system.

The e-tron is heavy. At 5489 lbs it’s 661 lbs heavier than the smaller Jaguar I-Pace and 68 lbs on the larger Tesla Model X 75D. This isn’t noticeable while driving but is worth noting. The battery and electric motors are situated at the bottom of the vehicle, which likely contributes to the sturdy feeling.

Audi built a complex battery regeneration system into the e-tron, and it seems to work as advertised. At the start of my road trip in Abu Dhabi, the vehicle said it had an available range of over 210 miles while driving with the AC blasting at full strength. During highway cruising, the range decreased precisely as advertised. During city driving, the regeneration mode recuperated more range than I expected, slightly extending the range. On the lively 20 minutes decent around mountain roads, the system gained over 10% of its range thanks to the system recovering power from the breaking and rolling resistance.

The US’s EPA has yet to release official numbers for the e-tron, and I didn’t spend enough time with the vehicle to declare an average range. What’s clear, however, is the e-tron can easily surpass 200 miles on a charge and under certain driving conditions, can go much farther. And thanks to the fastest recharging system in its class, the e-tron batteries can be recharged quicker than others — 80 percent in 30 minutes.

The e-tron accepts a charge up to 150kw. This allows the batteries to be refilled to 80 percent in 30 minutes. But Audi doesn’t have a network of chargers like Tesla. Instead, the car company partnered with Electrify America and e-tron owners are granted 1,000 kWh of power.

Compared to competitors, the e-tron can recharge at a quicker rate than others. But only at specific chargers. Interestingly, the e-tron has recharge ports on both sides of the vehicle.

The battery regeneration serves another purpose central to Audi’s brand: all-wheel drive. The sophisticated system that extends the range of the vehicle also assists the vehicle in providing the appropriate power to each wheel. Like traditional AWD platforms, this lets the vehicle remain surefooted across rain, snow, and sand. And in the desert, there was plenty of sand to test out the system.

I took the e-tron through sand drifts and over blind rocky dunes. The electric AWD system never disappointed. Compared to traditional AWD, this platform seemed to respond quicker in a much more subtle fashion. When climbing a dune where logic stated the tires were spinning, I couldn’t feel the tires spinning yet the vehicle continued to climb. When racing over 2-foot sand drifts covering gravel, the vehicle would drift in a squirrelly fashion yet the tire spin wasn’t felt through the pedals. This disconnect is a side-effect of the move to electric and is something drivers will have to get used to.

Creature Comforts

The e-tron’s cabin is nicely adorned with familiar materials and Audi’s latest technology package. A large digital cluster sits in front of the driver while two screens reside in the center stack and are used for the infotainment system and climate controls. This is the same system in the new Audi A6 and A7, and I find the layout much easier to use than the giant screens in Tesla and a growing number of other vehicles. Radio on the top, climate on the bottom. It’s a logical layout.

When needed the bottom screen is used for character input, and there’s a wide wrist rest placed below the screen to allow the user to steady their hand. This makes a difference. Instead of using a shaky hand hovering over a giant screen, users can rest their wrist on this pad and easily input an address.

There are odd concessions in this luxury SUV. The sun visors do not slide on their mounting pole to extend their reach, and this feature was noticeably missing during my drive through the desert. The steering column doesn’t have power adjustment. A sunroof isn’t an option. For a vehicle with a starting price of $74,800, these features are oddly absent.

I spent the day in a European variant of the e-tron, and it was equipped with digital side-mirrors. US buyers will not get this option, and that’s fine with me. I never got used to them. Instead of employing a piece of glass for side mirrors, there are cameras mounted on small, futuristic-looking stalks. Inside the cabin, there are small LCD screens mounted under the window. This virtual mirror isn’t worth it. The screens are too small and have too low of a resolution. The driver cannot move their head to gain a new perspective like what’s possible with traditional mirrors. Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer my mirrors to be made out of mirrors.

This e-tron SUV is essentially the self-titled album for Audi’s line of electric vehicles. Audi’s roadmap is clear, and it’s full of future models with the e-tron nameplate.

Next year Audi plans on releasing two more EV vehicles: the e-tron Sportback, a sporty SUV, and e-tron GT, a sports sedan developed with the help of Porsche . Audi is teasing a smaller e-tron vehicle for 2020.

Audi is building the e-tron brand around key innovations in recharging the battery both through regeneration and direct charging. As of right now, this is where the e-tron stands apart from its peers. It had the most sophisticated regeneration system and the fastest charging time. As batteries improve, these two platforms are primed to take advantage of larger batteries.

Against The Competitors

There are only a few EVs on the market making the competition clear for the Audi e-tron. The new Jaguar I-Pace is priced slightly under the e-tron and has a similar range, but is smaller and recharges slower. If buyers are willing to ditch the e-tron off-road chops and luxury badge of Audi, the Chevy Bolt offers similar cargo capacity, technology, and range for much less. The Nissan Leaf is another good low-cost option for those looking for nothing but an electric people mover.

Tesla is Audi’s closest competitor in the space. The Tesla Model X offers a bigger SUV and a quicker 0-60 time though a slower recharge time. The base Model X offers a similar range for $10,000 over the e-tron’s price and for more money the Tesla can be configured for a longer range.

On a dragstrip, the $84,000 base Model X is much quicker than the Audi e-tron, and the $140,000 Model X variant is as nearly quick to 60 as the fastest Audi super sports car. That doesn’t mean the Tesla is better than the e-tron. During my day with the e-tron, either while passing vehicles or taking off from a stop light, I found the e-tron to have an abundant amount of acceleration — quick enough to thrill though not in a ludicrous, tire-shredding fashion.

The Tesla Model X offers something not found in the Audi e-tron: Recognition. A Model X looks like nothing else on the road where the Audi e-tron looks like another crossover. Compare the two vehicles’ technology packages, and Tesla’s self-driving Autopilot feature stands tall. The e-tron only has lane assist and adaptive cruise control, a far cry from Tesla’s system.

Questions about Tesla’s future persist and could be on the minds of savvy shoppers. Will the automaker be around to service its vehicles through their life? Will Tesla be able to scale its mobile repair crews to be able to match the number of vehicles it’s shipping. The upstart automaker lacks the massive dealer network of Audi and its parent, VW, which for all their faults, at least provide numerous location for owners to service their vehicles.

Audi isn’t trying to define the look of the vehicle by the powertrain. Onlookers would be hard pressed to tell the e-tron is electric in the same as fashion as is evident with a Tesla or Toyota Prius. It’s a different strategy than what’s employed by other, and Audi seems to be banking on it to increase adoption of its electric vehicles.

The Verdict

The Audi e-tron is fantastic. For the foreseeable future, this is the electric vehicle that makes the most sense for most people. It’s not radical. The e-tron is familiar. The Audi e-tron makes electric cars attractive to more buyers by removing variables. It looks and feels like its gasoline counterparts. Inside and out, it’s normal. That’s the point, and it works.
