something about the fact that my family friends stopped speaking to us when the russo-ukrainian war started purely on the basis of us being russian and them being ukrainian, almost completely ignore our existence even though we’ve been friends for 20 years and we never voiced any support for putin, only for them to get excited and watch eurovision this year. an event russia is still banned from and an event that actively supports israel.

all the posts that point out the double standard have been getting to me so much and just seeing my best friends who i grew up with (who have since started talking with us again as of last year) watch eurovision is just so. you were and still are so active on social media during a war that involves our people, but the second it’s Someone Else’s war, are they not deserving of the same humanity? of the same aid? of the same dedication to donate and support and rally for?

why is it slava ukraini and not free palestine? why is it “rip out the throats of muscovites” (shirts that were worn during a family gathering that we attended) and not boycott israel for its genocidal crimes?

this isn’t like a call for anything, but i need to get it off my chest.

for those that are unaware Joost is a Dutch rapper from Friesland with a similar energy to Jere and he's currently actively campaigning to be the 2024 contestant for the Netherlands and I feel like the people really want it too because everywhere i go, every single eurovision comment section is screaming for him to go to eurovision next year

sadly Jere asking us to vote will not help as the netherlands does not have a preselection in which we can actually vote, we only have a professional jury 🥲 but fr juries please see that we're not fucking playing. send Joost to eurovision 2024 you damn cowards
