Like France, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Moldova, Estonia, Czech Republic, Portugal and ofc Finland deserved so much better.

Ok this post is going to be purely off vibes and memories so this is your warning for possible historical innacuracies.

European (Western) cutlery has to follow from European etiquette. E.g.- the fork was developed after the knife had to be blunted, so that rival aristocrats didn't have anything to get stabby with at the dinner table. They still needed something they could spear and pick up food with, leading to the two prong and then three prong fork.

Likewise, I assume the western soup spoon is shaped that way because it's the largest size it can be while still comfortably fitting (at least partially) into most mouths, allowing you to drink your soup with minimal slurping and swallowing, as Western etiquette demands.

Most Asian etiquette does not have the same qualms about tabletop sounds and in some places slurping is even encouraged as a sign that you're enjoying your meal. So the asian soup spoon, unburdened by any need to cover the sounds you make, is free to fit the function of drinking soup best.

If anything, European cutlery takes eating soup a little tooo seriously, insisting on decorum and propernous. While the Asian soup spoon represents freedom, the ability to follow form rather than social norm and create the better but also the more fun soup drinking experience.
