g u c c i Fall 2002. One of my favourite collections from Tom, where both the Women’s and Men’s collections were equally as great as one and other. For the Women, Tom offered Oriental Gothic, slashed layers of dark satins cinched with embroidered Obi belts and topped with disheveled furs, as if one had raided an op shop or grandmas closet. An attitude of devil may care, “I’ve just thrown this on and don’t give a shit” ( however we know these looks are way too expensive and luxe to have not given a shit! ) and a Rock Chic mentality. For the Men, it was a cross between Cary Grant meets Puff Daddy, all cool and dapper with just a hint of smugness. Probably one of the greatest collections of coats and jackets from Tom during his years at Gucci. Lush Shearlings and lust worthy Overcoats, still as relevant today as they were then! The campaign was moody and sensual. Shot by Mario Testino it featured Russian Supermodels Natalia and Eugenia ( This was the period when fashion was moving on from the Brazilians and embracing the Russians ), both fresh to the industry and in high demand.
