I was a bit bored recently, so I decided to make one of my Limbus Company syndicates into a general reception for Library of Ruina, The Benevolence. I just finished making sprites for the named enemy, Lensky.
They're a star of the city general reception with a focus on Fragile. In general, I've already got all the mechanics and pages done and working, so all that's left is some spritework to make it pretty.
This is the original Limbus sprite I've made for Lensky. He's pretty important to the story of my own sinner, Eugene Onegin, but that's a story for another day.

Since we got news about modern adaptation of C&P, I started to think about "What these characters in 21th century would think about the fact that some random book from 19th century completely copies their life to the minor of details" and these are just some little doodles that came into my head

okay so I'm generally open to different interpretations of Onegin and I enjoy seeing productions that shows the story in a new light etc etc. BUT. what is non-negotiable is that Onegin shot Lensky deliberately. It was not an accident.
#this message brought to you by the onegin i saw this weekend#where onegin started laughing and he & lensky reached towards each other to hug it out but onegin's gun shot off#accidentally killing your friend is different from deliberately killing your friend!#why do so many directors not see that#liz talks#opera#eugene onegin

#operaposting#eugene onegin#the problem with this prod/interpretation is that lensky simply doesn't occupy enough of the story to be the most major part of it#and tatiana is considerably more important#add that to the fact that they're making an abridged version and what happens is that many of the cuts are the seemingly unimportant parts#that actually have a lot of significance textually for tatiana#who if you're looking at the original text is really more of a main character than even onegin himself#like i love lensky but a production of onegin that focuses on lensky doesn't function as well imo#IDEALLY if you're going to go that direction using sexuality to show that the characters aren't showing their true personalities#and are instead acting out manufactured personas for social approval#then i would prefer that tatiana also be included because there is a lot of opportunity there#literally the entire part about her marrying a rich prince that she doesn't care about. is about that.#i'm not saying that she should be gay but her rejection of her sexuality for social approval is like. actually in the text.#OR at least you have naked cowboys during the polonaise like warlikowski. that's camp. i like it#tldr of course onegin and lensky fucked nasty that's not the point of the show though

My OC, Alixander!
Mixed race poet, part of Diaghilev's World of Art circle.
Inspired by my fried, Pushkin and Lensky
Dates Felix Yusupov, Yusupov thinks Alixander is a reincarnation of Pushkin.
Hellenic pagan, working with Dionysus and Apollo, hedonist.
Bi and paraphile.
Period tailor, dressed in Regency fashion
Tendency for depersonalisation/derealization, fights it with playfulness and silliness.
The two images with blue eyes really remind me of this fic. It's one of my faves and definitely inspired me

Ok, operabracket has put me in the mood for onegin, and I just wanted to share this absolutely amazing version from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and singers from the Dallas Opera. It's like halfway staged, and everyone is just *so good*. Plus, the subtitles are translated well, so it's easy to follow, and you can really get into it.

Random ‘Ghosts’-related thought,
because my love for the show inconveniently flared up just as I decided I’m saving S4 for special occasion, which means I still have a month to go –
So, I was like 10 or 11 when I first read ‘EO’, so of course Lenski was my favourite character, and I was kinda offended on his behalf when in high school we were taught he was meant to be a parody.
youtube
<resorting to the movie is sort of cheating, but who would have thought it’s so hard to find one with actual ‘shoulder-length black curls’>
Anyway, thanks Thomas f*****g Thorne for thoroughly de-romanticising the idea of a young poet tragically dying in a duel over a misunderstanding due to his best – well, the closest thing he has for a friend – being a “ticket” :-P
I mean, I do understand it’s much more likely Thomas comes from some actual Byronic morons, but still, I’m now starting to think of how every ghost character can be interpreted as deconstruction of a myth – or at least a literary archetype – and have I mentioned how well even the parts of the show I don’t really like are made?
Someone please kick my brain into switching for another fandom 8-/
