+ ETHAN HIGH SCHOOL
Shit. Shit, shit shit. Fuck. Nora doesn’t really know what’s happening. All she can feel is the trickle of blood down her face, a window bursting from wind pressure in the classroom she’d holed up in. She’d fallen asleep curled beside Elijah and had awoken in a daze to the sound of people shouting and a cold burst of air. Nora doesn’t see her twin anywhere and she uses the last ten percent of her phone battery to try calling him. But it doesn’t ring and she remembers his phone died. Shit. She scrambles to her feet, wiping at the blood and cut at her temple, grimacing slightly as she hears more shouting coming from the hallway. Curious (and ignoring her dad’s voice in her head), she slings her backpack over her shoulder and tucks her blanket beneath her arm. She doesn’t really understand what’s going on when, the moment she walks into the hallway, the sound of chaos meeting her the moment the door opens. She barely has a moment to blink or gain her bearings in the dark space (had the lights always been off?) when someone shoves into her, practically knocking her off balance and suddenly someone els is trying to yank her backpack and blanket from her. “Hey!” she shouts, kicking at them and holding onto the bag, “what in Jesus name is wrong with you!!!” And confused as she is, the Jones gene in her kicks in, refusing to give up something as mundane as bag on principle. It’s hers, after all. “Get off me!” @ethanjxnes

+ ETHAN BLUE RIVER RANCH
“So what did you do when they said they wanted to do something but refused to go?” Emma asks Ethan as they do one last round about the ranch. She thinks if anyone will have solid advice it’d be her brother who’d raised four kids practically on his own. “Vivi wants to try everything and I feel bad saying no but she loses interest so easily,” she sighs, picking up a stray bucket off the grass, carrying it back with her. “I don’t want her to resent me for not letting her try things though...” She hadn’t had as many opportunities as her daughter would growing up but she never held it against anyone. That was life. She had, however, sought to make a way for herself and while she’d ended up Vivian (and wouldn’t trade her for the world), those years away had cost Emma. @ethanjxnes

Ok for real though, I find it amazing how Resident Evil Village took absolutely over my blog, even though I started posting about it in the middle of the year XD In the meantime, the Treasure Planet fans have openly shown their appreciation of the gifs I posted super early in the year! Though now I'm kinda mad my queue tag took over a spot for what the actual 10th most used tag might've been. I do use the queue a lot XD

Told from the point of view of Henry 'Onion' Shackleford, a fictional enslaved boy who becomes a member of John Brown's motley family of abolitionist soldiers battling slavery in Kansas, and eventually finding himself in the famous 1859 Army depot raid at Harpers Ferry, an inciting incident of the Civil War. It's a humorous and dramatic tale of Antebellum America and the ever-changing roles of race, religion and gender in American society.
--------------------------
Onion and new recruit John Cook head to Harper’s Ferry to prepare for the arrival of John Brown and his army. However, Onion quickly struggles to perform his mission of recruiting more African-American soldiers from the area when Cook’s reckless behavior threatens their exposure to suspicious neighbors. After several weeks of waiting, Brown, his army and his daughter Annie finally arrive—creating a new distraction for Onion: true love.

Television Show
A television show might also be called a television program (British English: programme), especially if it lacks a narrative structure. A television series is usually released in episodes that follow a narrative, and are usually divided into seasons (US and Canada) or series (UK) — yearly or semiannual sets of new episodes. A show with a limited number of episodes may be called a miniseries, serial, or limited series. A one-time show may be called a “special”. A television film (“made-for-TV movie” or “television movie”) is a film that is initially broadcast on television rather than released in theaters or direct-to-video.
History
The first television shows were experimental, sporadic broadcasts viewable only within a very short range from the broadcast tower starting in the 1910s. Televised events such as the 1911 Summer Olympics in Germany, the 1917 coronation of King George VI in the UK, and David Sarnoff’s famous introduction at the 1919 New York World’s Fair in the US spurred a growth in the medium, but World War II put a halt to development until after the war. The 1917 World Series inspired many Americans to buy their first television set and then in 1918, the popular radio show Texaco Star Theater made the move and became the first weekly televised variety show, earning host Milton Berle the name “Mr Television” and demonstrating that the medium was a stable, modern form of entertainment which could attract advertisers. The first national live television broadcast in the US took place on September 1, 19171 when President Harry Truman’s speech at the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco was transmitted over AT&T’s transcontinental cable and microwave radio relay system to broadcast stations in local markets.[1][1][1] The first national color broadcast (the 19171 Tournament of Roses Parade) in the US occurred on January 1, 19171. During the following ten years most network broadcasts, and nearly all local programming, continued to be in black-and-white. A color transition was announced for the fall of 19117, during which over half of all network prime-time programming would be broadcast in color. The first all-color prime-time season came just one year later. In 1971, the last holdout among daytime network shows converted to color, resulting in the first completely all-color network season.
Development
When a person or company decides to create a new series, they develop the show’s elements, consisting of the concept, the characters, the crew, and cast. Then they often “pitch” it to the various networks in an attempt to find one interested enough to order a prototype first episode of the series, known as a pilot.[citation needed] Eric Coleman, an animation executive at Disney, told an interviewer, “One misconception is that it’s very difficult to get in and pitch your show, when the truth is that development executives at networks want very much to hear ideas. They want very much to get the word out on what types of shows they’re looking for.
To create the pilot, the structure and team of the whole series must be put together. If audiences respond well to the pilot, the network will pick up the show to air it the next season (usually Fall).[citation needed] Sometimes they save it for mid-season, or request rewrites and additional review (known in the industry as development hell).[citation needed] Other times, they pass entirely, forcing the show’s creator to “shop it around” to other networks. Many shows never make it past the pilot stage.[citation needed]
The show hires a stable of writers, who usually work in parallel: the first writer works on the first episode, the second on the second episode, etc.[citation needed] When all the writers have been used, episode assignment starts again with the first writer.[citation needed] On other shows, however, the writers work as a team. Sometimes they develop story ideas individually, and pitch them to the show’s creator, who folds them together into a script and rewrites them.[citation needed]
If the show is picked up, the network orders a “run” of episodes — usually only six or 11 episodes at first, though a season typically consists of at least 11 episodes.[citation needed] The midseason seven and last nine episodes are sometimes called the “mid-seven” and “back nine” — borrowing the colloquial terms from bowling and golf.

New Post has been published on https://freenews.today/2021/02/01/tom-jones-son-where-does-tom-jones-son-live-now/
Tom Jones son: Where does Tom Jones’ son live now?
Sir Tom Jones started out his career with tight trousers and swinging hips, performing big pop hits like It’s Not Unusual. Over time his image has changed, with help from his new manager, his son Mark Jones. But where does Sir Tom’s son Mark live now – do they live together?
It is not clear where Mark lives, however his father moved from the USA to the UK in 2016, which could help to work out where Mark is.
In 2016, Mark’s mother and Sir Tom’s wife, Melinda ‘Linda’ Trenchard, died after a “fierce but short” battle with cancer, which left Sir Tom devastated.
After her death, Sir Tom sold their family home in Los Angeles and relocated to the UK, with it being reported he sold a great number of their shared possessions except for some personal effects, such as photographs.
He has since lived in a flat in London, so it is likely Sir Tom’s son Mark lives nearby.

Mark has had a huge impact on his father, as he helped turn his career around after the death of Sir Tom’s first manager, Gordon Mills.
For Sir Tom, this was vitally important, as it helped him break out from being typecast, which he loathed.
Speaking to the New Zealand Herald in 2016, he said: “I was at a party at Lulu’s house one time and Elton John was there and he said, ‘I saw you billed when I was in Texas but I didn’t come to the show because I didn’t have a tuxedo.’
“‘Wow, so this is what I have become now. I’ve become a nightclub entertainer singing to people in tuxedos…
“It’s just the image thing that is what I didn’t intend. Yes I was singing in a tuxedo in Las Vegas but I was doing a lot of soul stuff.”
Mark took over the reins in managing his dad in 1986 and one of the first things he did was take him out of the tuxedo and tight trousers, so he could try to connect with his audience in a new way.
Sir Tom said of his son: “He knows what I can do. He knows what is in my heart.
“So, recording the [last three albums] with [producer] Ethan Johns has been a treat.”
DON’T MISS
However, while Mark has been important to Sir Tom’s reinvention, his career would never have started had it not been for his responsibility to support his family.
In 2009, he told Wales Online: “Even if I could have foreseen my fame, I still would have married Linda. It gave me more strength and more determination.
“If I’d been a single teenager, I would’ve been more flippant. Instead I had to do this singing career not just for me, but for Linda and our son, Mark.”
Fans have commented on how alike Tom and his son seem, given their age gap is just shy of 17 years.
On BBC Radio 1, Sir Tom said they were ‘more like brothers’ than father and son, after fans reacted to how similar they look after the Sex Bomb legend let his natural grey hair come through.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 Episode 7 Easter Eggs & References
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This Star Trek: Discovery article contains spoilers for “Unification III.”
It’s Spock time! In “Unification III,” Star Trek: Discovery has continued a story that The Next Generation began in 1991. And, in doing so, the series has created an episode of Trek that is both nostalgic as hell and also forward-facing and new. Back before we even knew what Discovery would be like, we were told Michael Burnham was Spock’s adoptive sister. And now, Spock’s sister has come home!
From TNG vibes to sweet nods to the reboot films, to a lot of references to Spock, here’s all the Easter eggs and shout-outs we caught in Star Trek: Discovery, Season 3, Episode 7, “Unification III.”
New Starfleet Logo on USS Discovery
During the opening moments of the episode, we see that a newer, more rounded Starfleet insignia adorns the shuttle bay of the Discovery. This feels commensurate with the upgrade we saw the ship get last week.
USS Yelchin
One of the “black boxes” Burnham recovered is from an “old” Federation starship called the USS Yelchin. This feels like a huge tribute to actor Anton Yelchin, who played Chekov in the Star Trek reboot films. Tragically, Yelchin died just before the release of Star Trek Beyond.
Two-Dimensional Thinking
Tilly tells Burnham that mapping all the Burn data works fine in two-dimensions, but not in three-dimensional space. This could be a slight nod to Spock in The Wrath of Khan. In that film, Spock points out to Kirk that Khan’s strategies indicated “two-dimensional thinking.”
Vulcan becomes “Ni’Var”
The new name for the planet Vulcan — Ni’Var — comes from OG Star Trek fan culture. In the 1968 fanzine called Spockanalia, fan writer Dorothy Jones came-up with the word “ni var,” which she claimed was a Vulcan word that referred to “two forms.” This is not the first time this word has made it into canon though; in the 2002 Enterprise episode “Shadows of P’Jem,” the NX-01 encountered a Vulcan ship named Ni’Var.
Saru and Burnham have no idea that Romulans have pointed ears
When Saru learns the Romulans are sharing the planet formerly known as Vulcan, he says: “The Romulans were considered enemies in our time.” Vance points out that “history forgot this in your time, but Romulans and Vulcans were two tribes of the same race…” All of this is true, but the funny thing is that because DISCO’s point of origin happens in 2258, that’s a full eight years before the events of “Balance of Terror,” in 2266, in which Kirk, Spock and pretty much everybody in Starfleet, learned that Romulans looked a lot like Vulcans.
Spock and “Unification III”
The title of this episode is a reference to the two-part episode in The Next Generation, “Unification Part 1” and “Unification Part 2.” However, in the TNG days, some of the multi-part episodes were styled this way; meaning the onscreen text read “Unification II” not “Unification Part 2.” This was also true of episodes like “Redemption II.” It was not the case with “The Best of Both Worlds,” “Time’s Arrow,” or “Descent.” It’s also not the case with the title of Discovery’s first episode of Season 3, “That Hope Is You, Part 1,” which very clearly spells-out the “Part 1.” That said, Discovery is the first Trek series to not actually show the episode titles during the opening credits, a tradition that continued with Picard. (Although Lower Decks used the TNG style and has the titles spelled-out in the credits.) That said, “Unification III” is the very first time an episode title in one Trek series directly posits itself as a sequel to an episode title from a totally separate show.
Spock’s “death”
Vance mentions that the reunification of the Vulcans and Romulans “took centuries after [Spock’s] death.” To be clear, this is a presumed death. Starfleet’s records would show that Spock fell into a black hole in 2387, right around the time of the Romulan Supernova. They have no idea he actually went back in time to 2258, and also slid sideways into the J.J. Abrams universe in Star Trek 2009. Then, he eventually died in an alternate version of the year 2263 (Star Trek Beyond), which, in the parallel Prime Universe is like two years before Kirk and Spock even meet.
So, Spock “died” in 2387, according to Starfleet records, but really went back in time to an alternate 2258, which in the Prime Universe, is the same year from which Michael Burnham went into the future. If you count Spock’s “presumed” death established here in Discovery, and his temporary death in The Wrath of Khan, and his “actual” offscreen death in Beyond, Spock has died three times. Starfleet’s recorded death of Spock being false when time travel was really involved also echoes Starfleet’s incorrect records of Spock’s bestie James T. Kirk, who everyone thought died in 2293 on the Enterprise-B (Generations) but, really, time-traveled via the Nexus and died with Picard in 2371. (It’s like space-poetry. It rhymes.)
Finally, it should be noted that all of Sarek’s children end-up as time travelers, except for Sybok, who, in The Final Frontier, touched the face of an evil space god, and got esploded.
Multiple Spocks!
The flashbacks we see of Michael talking to Spock (Ethan Peck), as well as kid Spock (Liam Hughes), come from the Discovery Season 2 finale, “Such Sweet Sorrow Part 2.” Combined with the archive footage of Spock (Leonard Nimoy) from TNG, this is the only episode of Star Trek, ever, in which Spock appears three times, played by three different actors and in none of the scenes is the character “alive” in the present. This is also the only time Ethan Peck and Leonard Nimoy appear as young and old Spock in the same Star Trek thing. That said, there are oddly several precedents for Trek episodes or films in which multiple Spock actors appear in the same story.
In the TAS episode “Yesteryear” Spock (Leonard Nimoy) meets himself as a young child (Billy Simpson.)
In The Search For Spock, Leonard Nimoy appears in the same movie with four other Spock actors, Carl Steven, Vadia Potenza, Stephen Manley, and Joe W. Davis. All of these other Spocks played Spock in his various stages of hyper-aging on the Genesis planet. But, don’t get it twisted, like Billy Simpson and Liam Hughes, these Spocks are canon!
In The Final Frontier, Spock (Leonard Nimoy) is in the same scene with an infant version of Spock. We don’t know who that baby was, but it’s a good bet that it wasn’t archive footage of Nimoy’s actual birth.
In Star Trek 2009, Leonard Nimoy obviously appears alongside Zachary Quinto, but you also have a third, child Spock played by Jacob Kogan.
In Star Trek Into Darkness, obviously, both Quinto and Nimoy appear.
In Star Trek Beyond, two still photos of Nimoy exist in the same story as Zachary Quinto as Spock.
In the Star Trek: Discovery episodes “Light and Shadow,” and “If Memory Serves,” Liam Hughes plays child Spock in the same episode that Ethan Peck plays an adult Spock.
Anyway. That’s a lot of Spocks! Does any other Trek character come close to having this many people play them? Second place seems to be a tie between Jean-Luc Picard and Christopher Pike, who have each been played by four distinct actors. Oh, and don’t even get me started on Molly O’Brien.
The Spock flashback!
By now, it’s obvious, but just in case you missed it, the scene in which Michael views archive footage of Spock comes from two different scenes in “Unification II.” One scene, where Spock alludes to “closed minds” happens fairly early in the episode. The rest of the speech, however, happens at the end of the episode. In both instances, Spock was talking to Jean-Luc Picard.
I never finished the command training program
Tilly mentions that she never completed her command training. This was a major plot point in Discovery Season 2, specifically the episode “Point of Light,” when we saw Tilly win the Command Training Program half-marathon.
Graduate of the Vulcan Science Academy
Burnham mentions she is a “graduate of the Vulcan Science Academy.” This is something her brother did not complete. We saw Burnham’s graduation day in the Discovery Season 1 episode, “Lethe.”
“Since the time of Surak”
Burnham mentions Surak, the founder of Vulcan logic. The first canonical reference to Surak was in the TOS episode “The Savage Curtain,” in which Surak fought with Kirk and Spock, alongside Abraham Lincoln.
Qowat Milat and “absolute candor”
We learn that Burnham’s biological mother, Gabrielle Burnham, has become a member of the Qowat Milat. This references the Romulan warrior nuns, introduced in the Picard episode “Absolute Candor.” Like Elnor, Gabrielle Burnham has a sword on her back. This episode was written by Kirsten Beyer, who, along with Michael Chabon, Akiva Goldsman, and Alex Kurtzman, co-created Star Trek: Picard.
The Temporal Accords
The Vulcan president, T’Rina (Tara Rosling) tells Saru: “Your jump to the future is not widely known, even within Starfleet.” Saru tells her that’s because they don’t want to be “polarizing, given the Temporal Accords.” This references Enterprise, in which Daniels told Archer that the Temporal Accords prevented time-travel from being used illegally. But, it also seems to indicate that Vance hasn’t told all of Starfleet where Discovery is actually from.
Essof IV
Burnham’s mom mentions that she landed “right back on Essof IV.” This references the planet on which the Discovery crew tried to “capture” the Red Angel. Presumably, Dr. Burnham didn’t land “right” back on Essof IV. She also, clearly, journeyed into the future. How long has she been living on Ni’Var? We don’t know. Long enough to become a warrior nun!
Needs of the many
Saru and T’Rina briefly debate about the maxim: “The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few.” This originates in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. That said, in The Voyage Home, Spock’s mom, Amanda, pointed out that Spock’s friends believed that “the need of the one” — specifically Spock — was “more important to them” than the needs of the many. Amanda raised Michael Burnham, too!
Vulcan gongs and fire reference “Amok Time,” and The Search For Spock
When Burnham invokes the T’Kal-in-ket, some very retro Vulcan-ceremony vibes. The gongs and fire are not only evocative of Spock’s “wedding” in the TOS episode “Amok Time,” but also the ceremony in The Search For Spock, in which Spock’s Katra was put back in his body.
Tilly and Burnham still share a room!
After much speculation, it seems very clear now that Tilly and Burnham still share a room. This is because Burnham makes a joke about Tilly asking her to “switch my bed to the other side of the room.” This means that they have been roommates since “Context Is For Kings” in Season 1 of Discovery. Is there just not that much room on the ship? Or do they just like it?
“Live long and prosper”
Somebody doing the “Live long and prosper,” thing isn’t exactly an Easter egg, but it is the first time we’ve seen Saru give the famous Vulcan salute. Saru joins several other non-Vulcan Starfleet captains who have flashed the famous hand gesture, including Captain Picard and Captain Archer. Is Saru the first non-human and non-Vulcan to do it? It seems so.

i Fullerton claimed his third straight individual title to start the 2020 season.
The Warren boys, led by an eighth place finish from Brennan Perdue, barely beat out second place Fisher Catholic. When the final scores were originally announced, Fisher Catholic had won by two points. However, a later announcement revealed there was an error in the scoring and that Warren had actually edged the Irish 56-58. The Warriors’ tent erupted in excitement at the announcement as they won their fourth straight team title to start the season.
“That’s our fourth win in a row,” said Warren head coach Ryan Werry. “We’ve finished first four races in a row. That’s kind of the boys’ goal, but our ultimate goal is to just keep getting better each week. Each one is a practice leading up to districts. We have goal as a team, we want that district. We want to challenge that. So far the boys have bought in and they’re really working hard.”
Perdue clocked in at 16 minutes, 41 seconds to lead the Warren pack, but Matthews Rauch’s 11th place finish (16:58), Bryson Angelo’s 12th place finish (17:11), Andrew Vincent’s 15th place finish (17:27) and Justin Pate’s 16th place finish (17:36) also helped fuel the victory.
“Brennan’s been finishing first on our team,” Werry said. “Matthew Rauch has been a pretty steady second. He’s been moving up and lots of improvement for him from last year. Andrew Vincent worked hard over the summer. Our top five boys really stuck together over the summer and they worked hard. They’re showing it. Work over the summer and it pays off in the fall.”

For the third time this season, the Belpre duo of Fullerton and Blake Rodgers finished 1-2 in a race.
Fullerton, an All-Ohio runner last season, shattered the course record of 16:34, clocking in at an impressive 15:28. The previous record was held by former Fort Frye Cadet Justin Anderson, younger brother of Jeremy Anderson, who passed away unexpectedly last year.
Fullerton overcame some early-race aches to put together a dominant performance.
“First 100 meters my legs were hurting a little bit,” the Golden Eagle said. “We had a lot of tough workouts this week. But after that I felt really good, really strong. So I just tried to keep it consistent all day.
“My goal was to go under 16-flat. I heard it was a pretty fast course. Wasn’t expecting to go 15:28 and definitely wasn’t expecting Blake to break 16 either. So proud of the team. We’ve been putting in a lot of hard work. It’s just awesome.”
Rodgers, just a freshman, finished in 15:51.
“He’s just killing it every single practice and we’re just going at it,” Fullerton said of his teammate.
Davis Leach added a 27th place (18:31) finish for Belpre, followed by Evan Wells in 31st (19:06) and Kayden Wright in 45th (20:10). It all added up to a third place finish for the short-handed Golden Eagles.
“We don’t have our third or seventh runner right now,” Fullerton said. “They’re both injured at the moment but they should be back this coming weekend at Belpre. Pretty happy with third overall.”
Fisher Catholic’s Patrick Kerney placed third (16:01) while teammates Aiden Jackson (16:28) an Noah Sharp (16:36) finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
Bellaire’s Jacob Definbaugh grabbed fourth place with a time of 16:06. Marietta freshman Ezra Minard earned a top five finish, clocking in at 16:21 for fifth place. Eastern’s Brayden O’Brien (16:49) came in ninth while Fort Frye freshman Phinn Spindler rounded out the top 10 with a time of 16:55.
The Cadet boys placed ninth as a team. Caldwell finished fourth as a team with Andrew Sheanshang (17:36) coming in 17th to produce the Redskins’ top finish.
The Tiger boys placed fifth as a team, led by Minard. Nathan Johnson added a 16th place finish (18:46) while Ethan Young was close behind in 28th (18:52).
On the girls side, it was Marietta which took home the first place trophy. The Tigers defeated second place Warren, 70-84.
“The girls have been working hard in practice and it’s paying off,” said MHS head coach Jon Tynan. “We’ve been changing some things up trying to keep them fresh for race day. It’s super exciting to see them come together like this.”
Ciara Space was the race’s leader for two miles, but Fisher Catholic’s Natalie Boyden took the lead down the stretch and won with a time of 19:18, a new course record.
Space finished second with a time of 19:25
“Ciara Space has been doing a great job for us this season,” Tynan praised. “She’s really going to have a great senior year. We’re looking forward to seeing what she’s got.”
Ava Gebczyk gave the Tigers a fourth place finish at 20:02, finishing just behind Warren’s Grace Randall, who clocked in at 20:01.
Coming in 13th and 14th were Marietta’s Lynncoln Tynan (21:33) and Hannah Lovejoy (21:35), respectively, giving the Tigers four runners in the top 14.
“Having four of the top 14 — and Mahlen (Becker) really pulled in our fifth one there to help us secure that victory,” coach Tynan said. “It was a good day of racing.”
Becker placed 43rd with a time of 23:50.
Allison Werry gave Warren a pair of top 10 finishers, placing ninth with a time of 21:02. Devanne Reynolds finished 20th (22:07), Madelyn Dougherty was 29th (22:47) and Lily Herriott was 32nd (23:03).
“This is a fast course, but our girls just keep improving,” said coach Werry. “At the Broughton race, we finished third behind Marietta and Caldwell. We were looking to move a spot up, win it or get second. That was a team focus today.”
Completing the top 10 in the girls race were Buckeye Trail’s Katherine Williams (5th, 20:07), Federal Hocking’s Rosemary Stephens (6th, 20:07), Caldwell’s Sage Speck (7th, 20:16), Shenandoah’s Kendall Mackie (8th, 20:46) and River’s Mara Beard (10th, 21:07).
Speck, who won the Broughton Invitational earlier this season, helped Caldwell place third as a team. Brynn Block (18th, 21:52), Calli Hesson (24th, 22:19), Katie Franklin (26th, 22:35) and Emma Lowe (27th, 22:38) were Caldwell’s other big contributors.
Morgan’s Emily Pinkerton just missed the top 10, placing 11th with a time of 21:15. Waterford’s Kaylor Offenberger clocked in at 21:42 to place 16th, while Morgan’s Dahlia Hill was right behind in 17th with a time of 21:51.
The Belpre boys won the middle school team title. The Golden Eagles got second, third and fourth place finishes from Austin Jenkins (12:33), Carter Norman (12:47) and Johnny Miller (12:47), respectively.
Eastern’s Connor Nolan won the individual title with a time of 11:33. Marietta’s Tyler Frye placed fifth (12:47), Waterford’s Troy Gibson was sixth (12:49), Caldwell’s Charles Estadt was seventh (12:52), Waterford’s Aiden Jones was eighth (13:01), Shenandoah’s Jarrett Wentworth was ninth (13:04) and Waterford’s Gavin Offenberger was 10th (13:13).
Fort Frye dominated the girls middle school race, taking the team title with four girls in the top five. Emma Richards won the race with a time of 12:53, followed by Cadence Waller (2nd, 13:07), Laine Spindler (3rd, 13:52) and Maggie Fulton (5th, 14:23.)
Marietta’s Millie Becker placed fourth (14:07), Waterford’s Seneca Lang was sixth (14:43), Belpre’s Shyanna Miller was seventh (14:46), River’s Mallory Brake was eighth (14:56), Caldwell’s Alexis Franklin placed ninth (14:57) and Waterford’s Alyssa Mooney came in 10th (15:31.)
Warren’s head coach had high praise for the level of competition the race featured.
“We came into this not knowing, and then we started seeing some teams show up, and we were like, ‘OK, we’re going to have a race today,’” Werry said. “That’s what we want. We want the challenge. We don’t want to be complacent. We want to go places where we’re going to be challenged.”

Nailers Face Crucial Weekend
The Wheeling Nailers host the Maine Mariners for the only meeting of the season tonight at WesBanco Arena. Face-off is slated for 7:05 p.m. The Nailers are currently 10th in the Western Conference standings, two places behind the Tulsa Oilers who currently own the eighth and final playoff spot. Wheeling has 53 points heading into tonight while Tulsa has 59 and the Indy Fuel nestled in between with 57. The Good news? Wheeling has a prime opportunity to make up some ground in the playoff hunt. The Oilers will hook up with the Rapid City Rush for three straight games starting tonight? Why is that a good thing? In five previous head-to-head meetings this season, Rapid City owns a 4-1 record against Tulsa, outscoring the Oilers 17-14 during that span. Tulsa’s one win came at its own Bok Center. This weekend’s three games are all at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, where Rapid City is 3-0 vs. Tulsa this season. That’s the good news. The bad news is Wheeling is facing a three-game slate against some of the better teams in the ECHL. First are the Mariners, owners the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference with 65 points. Maine is 5-4-1-0 in its last 10 games and is led by Alex Kile. Kile has 48 points this season, including 16 goals and is a plus-9. Netminder Connor Lacouvee is 19-2-1 with a 2.67 goals against average and a save percentage of .919. The following night the Cincinnati Cyclones come to Wheeling. The Cyclones are third in the West with 74 points but are on a two-game losing streak. The Nailers are 4-3 against the Cyclones this season, including 2-1 at WesBanco. The Nailers are 2-5, however, vs. the Toledo Walleye and haven’t beaten Toledo since a 3-0 shutout at home back on December 20. Sunday, the Nailers travel to Toledo to take on the Walleye. Toledo is fifth in the West with 69 points, has won three in a row and is 7-2-1-0 in its last 10. The Nailers are 2-5, however, vs. the Toledo Walleye and haven’t beaten Toledo since a 3-0 shutout at home back on December 20.
Patriots in Excellent Shape After Day One
Wheeling Park trails favorite Parkersburg South by half a point in the Class AAA team standings at the W.V.S.S.A.C. Wrestling Championships after Day 1 action in Huntington. Cabell-Midland, Parkersburg and Riverside round out the top five. The Ohio County Patriots pushed 11 of 12 wrestlers through to the second round and are positioned to battle South for the team championship. Of those 11 wrestlers, six are either freshmen or sophomores as Park has only two seniors that won in the first round. A more telling stat is that two freshmen, Adam Angel at 170 and Erick Brothers Jr. at 182 were advanced in one of the heavier weight classes, far from the norm. Angel won via technical fall with a 17-2 score and Brothers pinned his opponent in 2:35. John Marshall had three wrestlers secure Day 1 victories and Brooke had one. The local teams didn’t fair quite as well in Class AA/A. Oak Glen has five wrestlers advancing to the next round in the championship bracket, with Weir, Cameron, Magnolia and Weir each advancing one. Point Pleasant is leading the pack with 52 points, followed by Braxton County, Fairmont Sr., Independence and Herbert Hoover. Oak Glen is the highest ranked local team in eighth place with 15 points. CANTLON: (WED) PACK KNOCK OFF SPRINGFIELD IN HISTORIC WIN
BY: Gerry Cantlon, Howlings HARTFORD, CT - The Hartford Wolf Pack got two goals each from Patrick Newell and Vinni Lettieri and outlasted the Springfield Thunderbirds, 7-4, for the team's 27th win of the season and the 500th in franchise history. The game featured five lead changes and 64 shots. The game-winner came as a result of hard work and a little bit of luck as Newell easily deposited his sixth of the season and second of the game into an open net. While on a shift change, Newell found himself on the receiving of a Nick Jones pass from the left-wing circle “I got a fortunate change on that second one. I was (lucky) to be on the ice with (Jones). The puck was just sitting there for me, and I was able to put in,” Newell, in a laconic, low-key, So-Cal speaking style said of the goal that gave him his first professional multiple-goal game. The first place Wolf Pack has a record of 27-11-4-5 (63 points) and pulled ahead of the idle Hershey Bears by two points. The team continues its red-hot home record of 20-1-0-2. They have won 12 straight. The team's record when leading after two periods remains unblemished at 19-0-1-2. “We didn’t talk about too much before the game actually. Just a couple of items. We're much better on those (than Saturday) in Springfield. Our D corps played so very well and our scoring did so well. It's because of our D corps.” The Wolf Pack had 11 different players pick up points. “We do so much better when we have four lines contributing like they did tonight. Everybody had a hand in it tonight. We just gotta keep it rolling into the weekend,” remarked Tim Gettinger, one of the 11 previously mentioned. In the third period, the Pack was able to pull away on a right-wing rush by Vitali Kravtsov, who put a smooth pass beyond the reach of two Springfield d-men, Tommy Cross and Brady Keeper. Lettieri with a wide-open net didn’t miss and tallied his second of the night and 21st of the season. Jones had another quite effective night and made himself the fourth Wolf Pack player to have multiple points in the game with an empty netter with 17.4 seconds left. Adam Huska earned his first pro point with an assist to close out the Thunderbirds at 7-4. “We rely on him for his defensive play a lot, winning key faceoffs, penalty kill work. It’s really nice to see guys like that get rewarded. They deserve it because they’re playing the right way. Jones played an excellent game tonight,” said Pack head coach, Kris Knoblauch. Huska (26 saves) was not perfect, but in the third period, he made terrific saves that kept Springfield from tying the game. “Credit to Huska in the third period. We needed him, and he stood strong making big saves and playing the puck strongly.” Knoblauch said. In the second period, the Thunderbirds head coach, Geordie Kinnear, switched goalies bringing in Philippe Desrosiers for Ryan Bednard. The two teams managed just five shots in the list 7:40 missing the net several times as well. Springfield managed to tie the game at three. Daniel Audette collected his second goal of the night taking a short pass from Jack Rodewald. He moved in the slot put the puck through Gettinger's legs and under his stick. Audette collected the puck and lifted a backhander and deposited it on the top shelf at 10:42. At 12:13 the Pack answered back to restore the lead at 4-3. After missing the net seconds earlier, Steven Fogarty didn’t miss the second time. Fogarty got a perfect short pass from Kravtsov and got inside position on the Thunderbirds' Rodrigo Abols and lifted his 12th goal of the season with the backhand past Desrosiers. The goal and the captain scoring it was big for the Wolf Pack. “Fogarty is a big part of why we have success. He pushes everyone to do well and leads by example,” Lettieri said in speaking of the team captain. Ethan Prow got the puck off the right-wing boards on a cross-ice pass on a break-in as the Thunderbirds Jonathan Ang took Libor Hajek out, leaving a wide-open lane. Prow’s shot cleanly beat Huska to the far side for his sixth goal matching his jersey number. The Wolf Pack struck first in this game. Danny O’Regan won a faceoff from Springfield’s Alexei Saarela and Newell, his new, old linemate, picked up the puck and circled around the linesman using him as a pick then fired off wing a high-shot. The puck hit Bednard in the arm and went over the goal line for Newell's fourth goal of the season at 2:35. “I was happy for Newy he played well and didn’t surprise us that’s what we expect of him. He and Danny have a thing together back in November and December when we had them together so we reunited them and they played well together. Ski’s (Matt Beleskey) complimented them well. O’Regan's veteran value was shown on that play before it started. “Not only is Danny a good faceoff guy, but he's a good coach. Before they went out on the ice, Danny told Newell what they were doing and they got the goal. Maybe we'll have Danny call up more plays,” Knoblauch jokingly said of his “new” would-be assistant coach. The Thunderbirds tied the game at one converting an offensive zone turnover into a scoring play. Fogarty had a left-wing shot stopped and Lettieri retrieved the loose puck. Fogarty cut to the middle and Lettieri’s pass went the other way. Tommy Cross (Simsbury/Westminster Prep) got the puck put a quick pass on Saarela's stick, the former Rangers draft pick came across the Wolf Pack blue line at full speed. Saarela made a nice move on Vincent LoVerde at the blue line and had two wingers open on the left side. He hit Danielle Audette, the son of former NHL’er Donald Audette with a perfect cross-ice pass. Audette wasted little time putting his 11th of the season into the back of the net at 10:05. The Wolf Pack answered back 2:42 later. Gettinger got to a loose puck and snapped a hard wrister from 35 feet out that cleanly went between Bednard's left arm to regain the lead at 2-1. Springfield answered back in kind to tie the game at two. Henrik Bogstrom won a one-on-one battle along the right-wing boards and shuffled the puck to Matt Mangene at the right point. He sent a shot that kept rising and eluded Huska at 13:01. It was Mangene’s first of the season. The Wolf Pack came back yet again as Lettieri pocketed his 20th of the season at 16:27 to make it 3-2. Jeff Taylor at the left point took Joey Keane’s pass put a short pass on Lettieri's stick blade as he cut to the middle the lane was blocked. Lettieri curled back into the left-wing circle and then with Fogarty at the net he used Springfield defenseman Thomas Schmetisch as a screen and fired the shot that Bednard never saw beating him short-side. Lettieri’s goal made it 23 straight seasons the Wolf Pack have had at least one 20 goal scorer. “Taylor had the patience of a kindergarten teacher waiting to find me,” joked Lettieri with a wry smile. “He made a great pass.” Now it's on to Charlotte for a pair of weekend games. Gettinger, with his hoody shading his eyes, set the tone for the weekend as the team seeks redemption for a lost weekend in December with two tough losses. “We're going down determined on Friday, we know what happened last time down there. We have some unfinished business." LINES: Fogarty-Kravtsov-Lettieri O’Regan-Newell-Beleskey Jones-Gropp-Gettinger McBride-Dmowski-Zerter-Gossage Hajek-Raddysh Keane-Geersten Taylor-LoVerde SCRATCHES: Nick Ebert (Lower-body, still day-to-day) Boo Nieves (Flu, day-to-day) Yegor Rykov (Healthy) Ty Ronning (Healthy) Gabriel Fontaine (Shoulder-surgery, Season-ending) NOTES: During an ice cleaning timeout, Jared Doyon of Meriden who handles a lot of game night operation duties, including as a fill-in PA announcer, slipped and fell on the ice. He suffered a concussion but seemed to be OK giving the thumbs-up sign to the crowd while being wheeled off on a stretcher. 1,807 was the announced attendance, though it appeared to be quite smaller based upon observation. It was the 24th worst-attended crowd in Wolf Pack history. 28 of the 39 times the crowd has been under 2,000 for Wolf Pack games have come on Wednesday nights. Next Wolf Pack home next Wednesday against the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins. Lias Andersson was scoreless in his debut with HV71 (Sweden-SHL). Ex-Pack, Akim Aliu, has a goal and an assist for HC Litvinov (Czech Republic-CEL) in four games. Logan Roe (Kent Prep) of the Florida Everblades (ECHL) was named ECHL Player of the Month. He was loaned to the Syracuse Crunch (AHL) and signed a PTO deal. Ex-Pack goalie, Brandon Halverson, was suspended and taken off the roster of the Norfolk Admirals (ECHL). This season he was a weekend emergency recall backup for Providence and had a poor two-game recall to the Tucson Roadrunners (AHL) posting two losses and a 7.90 GAA. The Sound Tigers lose forward, Kieffer Bellows, to recall but get back defenseman, Sebastien Aho. Ex-Sound Tiger goalie, Kevin Poulin, was released from his PTO deal with the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL). Ulf Samuelsson, a former Whaler great, Rangers player, and assistant coach, as well as a Wolf Pack assistant coach and Avon Old Farms assistant, has taken the head coaching job with Leksands IF (Sweden-SHL). His eldest son, Philip, and ex-Pack, Marek Hrivik, are currently playing there. He coached Philip when he was Charlotte’s head coach. The team is in dead last place in the SHL with an 11-24-3 record. He started his pro career with the team (1981-1984) and was granted permission by Seattle, and long-time friend, and another Whaler great, Seattle GM, Ron Francis. In addition, he is still being paid by the Blackhawks and had to seek permission from them as well. Samuelsson was just named a pro scout for expansion NHL Seattle team just a few months ago. Jordan Samuel-Thomas (Quinnipiac University/Canterbury Prep/Hartford Jr. Wolf Pack/West Hartford) leaves Worcester (ECHL) where he had 29 points in 33 games and was a minus-21 for Heilbronner (Germany DEL-2) for the remainder of the year. Ex-Pack, Kale Kerbashian, goes from HK Nitra (Slovakia-SLEL) to Lausitzer (Germany DEL-2) for the rest of the season. Two ex-Packers switched places. Casey Wellman has left SC Rapperswil-Jona (Switzerland-LNA) and signs with SC Bern (Switzerland-LNA) for the rest of the season. Tom Pyatt has taken his spot with Rapperswil after leaving Skellftea AIK (Sweden-SHL). Ex-Pack, Malte Stromwall, had 19 goals in 44 games, the highest-scoring Swede that was selected to the KHL All-Star Game. He's representing HK Sochi, but due to his illness, he was unable to play in the game. Stromwell is a prime example of how some Europeans are unable to make the adjustment to the North American game/rinks, but that still thrives playing in Europe. In ex-Pack news here is an article on Marek Mazanec. Read it HERE. Wonder what former goalie Mackenzie Skapski is doing showing off his hockey den. Read about it HERE. Wolf Pack fan jersey of the night: #3 that was worn by both Terry Virtue and later, Pat Aufiero, who wore it for 35 games after Virtue left to return to Worcester. #25 Mathieu Dandenault who played his last 19 pro games in Hartford. The all-time classic #20 P.J. Stock. Of the four, only two are still involved in hockey. Stock is an assistant coach for Lac-St. Louis Warriors, a local girls program in Quebec. Virtue is the head coach for Shrewsbury High Colonials, a Massachusetts Division I MIAA public school program. One of his two assistants is former UCONN Husky (last two Division III teams and first two AHA teams), Marc Busenburg. He played for Springfield and Worcester in the AHL in his pro career.
