Four seasons in, and Apple TV’s Trying still finds new and beautifully vulnerable ways to make our hearts flutter. There are a number of changes in the series this time around, one of them being how much time has passed since we left the characters in the Season 3 finale. Most shows would use this time to throw one curveball at another in the couple’s life, but instead, Trying gives Jason Ross one of the most romantic moments on TV while simultaneously allowing Rafe Spall to showcase what an absolute heartthrob he is.
In Trying Season 4, Episode 2, “Ghosting,” Jason and Nikki learn that Bev was into online dating and left a date hanging because of her death. In order to break the news, Nikki decides that she should do it in person, which results in her and Jason essentially going on the date Bev was meant to be on. Jason is apprehensive, but Nikki is into it, so much so that she buys a new dress because the two of them haven’t done anything exciting in the last few years. While this is a norm with many couples, it leads to the type of confrontation that gives viewers the chance to see that their love is still going strong.

“Nice girls don't let men kiss them until after they're engaged. Men don't want the bloom rubbed off.” “Personally, I think I have too much bloom. Maybe that's the trouble with me.”

harrowclare's 2024 reading list
Tumblr media
here is the long, long list of my 2024 reads with ratings & dates. because of tumblr's limit on links, i cannot direct to individual reviews. if you would like to view my reviews on their respective sites, you can find them on thestorygraph & goodreads.
dates are listed as month, day. manga volumes that are binged will be grouped so that this list isn't a million miles long, with the range of ratings for the volumes in the stack. a few of these titles were started in 2023, lol whoops! those are the only dates with a year stamp.
wanna read along or chat with me about books? i'm super active on fable.
reading challenges: horror bingo reaading challenge (2024-2025)
