wottg has inspired me to write percy owning a surf shop headcanons. that's it thats the intro.

━ percy originally thought he would open his surf shop in california, but he and annabeth ended up moving back to new york and opening it up on long island.

━ sally makes seashell trinkets and knits custom merchandise for the shop to sell. she and paul hang out sometimes, with estelle, of course.

━ annabeth designed the entire shop, inside and outside, even though it's barely the size of percy's apartment. she puts it on her resume for when she becomes an architect.

━ percy conveniently opens the shop near camp, and has a storage room where he keeps extra weapons, nectar, ambrosia, etc. sometimes, if a camper forgets something at camp, they can visit the shop instead of going all the way back. percy can quickly tell who's a demigod and who's not. also, many campers are in debt for drachmas (percy doesn't care lmao if he goes broke at least he saved lives)

I'm back with more PJO/Riordanverse headcanons! Some of these are also just ways I would have done things after seeing then in new perspectives. This'll probably be a long post so I'll put this all under the cut.

Imma start with the headcanons!

Malcolm and Jake were actually dating for a while but only told everyone after Nico and Will both came out.

Adding on to my Genderfluid Percy headcanon from before, Percabeth are both bi so Annabeth doesn't mind.

Mitchell came around during the Sea of Monsters quest and Lacy came at the same time as Drew due their mortal parents living in the same area since they go to the same school

Clovis has actually been at the camp nearly the same amount of time as Annabeth due to his sleep powers hindering his mortal mothers life, she left on the hill.

Thalia and Grover set up small hidden demigod camps for quests since it's common for monsters to destory your supplies. They are able to do this because they travel a lot.

Percy, and Annabeth often invite Will and Nico over so they can help eachother with eachothers Tartarus experiences.

Percy and Annabeth consider Nico a little brother and let him stay over at anypoint once they have their own home.

Every year Percy has three birthday parties. One at camp courtesy of his fellow campers, one at his home with his closest friends, and his family, and one with his cousins where they go out. Often the one from hosted by Sally and Paul is the only one actually on his birthday. The other two often happen the next day.

After Jason's death Leo and Piper decided to start meeting up at least once durung the school year, to check up on eachother. They are sometimes joined by others.

Percy knows how to cook, on the other hand Annabeth is not the best at cooking.

Clarisse and Percy spar together for fun when either of them need a break from everything else in life.

Clarisse often treats Will like a little brother because of how young he was when he became head medic and how many times he healed her despite her rude words at first.

Magnus and Annabeth have meetups almost every month, occasionally Percy and/or Alex will tag along. Annabeth and Percy have yet to tell Camp.

Percy and Annabeth also often meet up with Carter and Sadie for food. They like to check up on the younger kids. Percaveth had yet to tell Camp about these two as well.

When Sally and Paul want a date amnight and Percy and Annabeth aren't available the rest of the seven or Nico and Will are open to babysitting Estelle so the two can still go out. Everyone loves Estelle.

Now for the changed storylines.

I would have had Percy and Annabth stand up for Nico more during the deabte to go save him from the jar as they have know him since he was ten and it just makes sense.

Caleo but platonic. I've seen many points made by others where it shows Caleo isn't the best and honestly it is a bit strange to resolve Leo's arc by giving him a romantic relationship with an immortal much older than him. So instead of having them date, I'd have them bond over them both having bad luck with relationships and give them a sibling relationship.

I would have Drew be mentioned much earlier, give her a big relationship with Silena. She's always with her sister, looking up to her. She was always kinda of a mean girl but she masks her sorrow about Silena with more hate.

Talk about Jason's missing memories more. He never fully got his back, have him ask Reyna about his life, and Thalia about their mother.

I would make Ares just... Less the way Rick made him. He respects girls in his myths, he supports the Amazons. Yet he abuses his daughter? Have him be a supportive father that just hates other demigods cause they think of him as mindless war disrespect his children.

Similarly I would change Hera. Yes, it makes sense for her to dislike Thalia and maybe other big three children because of the myths. But not any other demigods. She, along with being the goddess of marriage and childbirth, is also the goddess of family and women. So many demigods have horrible families, let her support them discreetly by allowing her cabin to be the cabin for unclaimed campers, or perhaps by leading young demigods to Artemis so she can help them get to camp.

More seafam shit. Percy and Triton bonding, Percy meeting his other godly siblings other than Kym, Amphitrite getting to know Percy and acting like a stepmother, etc, etc. I need more of this.

i have a theory that demigod genes are kinda like autism in that they trickle down to younger siblings (like it's more likely for the younger siblings of an autistic kid to be on the spectrum than those who were born before). i'm not saying younger, mortal siblings of demigods could become demigods themselves, of course, but more that there's some sort of tie or pull there to that godly side, despite having no real connection to the god who gave their sibling half their genetic code

thinking about annabeth trailing in after percy and seeing sally laying in the hospital bed, paul sat on the edge next to her, running his hands through her hair, with a little bassinet in front of him. her watching percy go up and kiss his mom on the cheek and making sure shes okay before his gaze immediately flicks to the bassinet. annabeth greeting sally quietly and making sure shes alright as she subtly watches percy shuffle around the bed toward the bassinet. he stares down at his little sister, newly born, and is just. so. soft.

paul helps him lift her from the bassinet and places her tiny body in percy’s arms and he’s just staring at her, wide-eyed and adoring and annabeth knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that no harm will ever befall that little girl otherwise percy will ravage everything and everyone that dared harm her. percy cradles her, his body slightly swaying, and he whispers softly to her, greeting her and introducing himself and annabeth is falling more and more in love which she didn’t think was possible at this point.

they had talked briefly before about the idea of having children but both agreed that not only was it a long way off but they also shared similar fears of the kind of parents they’d be, but staring at percy now, holding a tiny baby in his arms, his touch feather light as if she was a delicate, fragile thing that would shatter if he even spoke too loud, annabeth knows. she knows just the kind of father he’d be and gods does she want that. she can see it now, herself laying in the hospital bed, percy sitting on the edge and holding their child, his voice thin and shaky as he carries not just their child but the weight of his love and pride for his wife and family they’re creating. annabeth has never wanted anything more.

Random thought:

I think Tyson would make gifts for Percy that are usually armor and weapons or other life-saving things because he knows that Percy lives a dangerous life, more than most demigods. Tyson wants to make something that helps Percy stay safe and alive, and Tyson knows that Percy wants to survive— not just to keep living, but also to keep loving and protecting his loved ones. So it’s swords and shields and daggers. They’re good gifts for a demigod anyway— they always end up being useful— but Tyson makes sure to add just that extra bit more intricacy and passion in Percy’s compared to the basic weapon templates he makes in the forges, added designs, symbols of protection, personalized momentos. One day, Percy explains the notion of a gag gift, and Tyson loves it. From that day forward, his gifts from Tyson now have a 50% chance of being gag gifts. And of course, since all of Tyson’s gifts are breathtaking, the joke is never about shoddy handiwork.

Percy’s personal favorite is a small handheld water gun that’s a perfect rendition of poseidons trident but itty bitty, and it shoots water out of all three prongs. Percy treasures it, and nicknames it Fork. When Estelle is old enough to appreciate it rather than just chew on it, he passes Fork down to her with Tyson’s blessing.

Tyson doesn’t make gifts for people outside his family as often, but it definitely happens. It’s always based on something he knows they like, and it needs to be useful above all else. Gifts are harder to be upset about when they are tailored specifically to your interests and needs. Even if there’s something you don’t like about the design, but you needed it anyway and it was given to you for free as a gift, there’s a very small chance you’ll turn it down. It’s the best path to gift-giving success, and Tyson wants nothing but to make them happy.

When Tyson is hired to work as one of Poseidon's blacksmiths, he grows closer to his dad and makes gifts for him too. Statues and crowns and the like, because Poseidon doesn’t really need help to be stronger or more effective in battle, not that Tyson’s current skill level would be able to make a functional weapon for a god anyway (one day, maybe). Not only that, but because Poseidon is a deity, gifts don’t have to necessarily be useful. There’s more freedom to play around with the art of it considering it’s basically an offering. Even with his loved ones, he still gets that niggling voice that tells him it needs to be better, more useful. Offerings to gods are expected to be perfected and glorious, but in actuality, most gods accept offerings either way as long as it’s made with genuine effort and care, and his works are never lacking in that.

Gifts for Sally Jackson are things like art and jewelry, because she’s a mixture of both. he knows that she’s divine too in her own unique mortal way, but sometimes she doubts that she deserves to be decorated. Which is something he just can’t imagine, Sally Jackson being anything less than amazing? Not possible. Though he doesn’t completely understand her Desiree to not flaunt her beauty and importance, that’s where the art comes in. If she feels like she doesn’t want to decorate herself, then she can always decorate her living space. He also knows that she doesn’t need to fight to be safe, because Percy would never leaver her to fight on her own, but defensive items aren’t a bad idea at all. (Her favorite gift from Tyson is a beautiful locket that she has her family’s pictures in.)

When Percy goes missing soon after the war with Kronos is over, he realizes that even though Percy wouldn’t willingly abandon his family, sometimes it’s not his choice. It’s the first time he gifts Sally something for offense rather than defense. It’s also when he decides that he needs to do some protecting of everyone else too, especially if Percy isn’t around to do it: he makes Estelle an armored crib when she’s born (which is promptly baby-proofed by her parents but still effectively protects her). He makes Paul a pocketknife that works in both humans and monsters, so if he’s being attacked he can fight back first and wonder if the assailant was a monster or human later. Sally’s protective item is an improved version of Percy’s watch-to-shield thing but with an added detachable dagger that is, once again, effective for both humans and monsters. He equips the Jackson-Blofis household with a few small boxes: these open up with a code word and contain an automatic water mister, a handful of drachma, a few extra travel-ready weapons, and a collapsible shield. The box can also only be picked up/moved if code is given.

For his lovely harpy girlfriend, he’ll make her anything and everything he can. She likes to hoard more than just words in her head once she has a permanent, structured living place. Not to mention tyson would build her the world if she wanted, so trinkets are fun and no trouble at all. Ella also likes to give him little gifts in the form of scavenged findings— pretty flowers, quirky metal parts, shiny rocks— so he’ll find a way to incorporate them into his crafts. A nice shell might become a pendant for necklace, a scrap of wood with a nice design might be shaped into a small sculpture, a uniquely shaped peice of metal could be put in the hilt of a sword. Ella doesn’t mind if these little bits she collected become gifts for her, but being a part of the process of someone else’s gift and knowing a part of her plus a part of Tyson made something special for their friends makes her want to burst with joy. (Ella will sometimes recites love poems/stories/etc as gift for him. Rarely, she will go out of her comfort zone and purposefully mix up the words of stuff she remembers to make personalized romantic writings for him. It’s a high honor and Tyson absolutely melts every time she does it.)
