Nine Lines Nine People

Hello thank you for the tag @justhereforeskel sorry about the delay! I've been procrastinating.

This little 9-line snippet is for my wip DP Lambert, which a sort-of sequel to my work Copy-Cat, where Keira rescues Kiyan after mistaking him for Lambert's lost Cat, only to come home to Lambert and the real Aiden fucking in her bathtub. It's more or less implied that they've worked it out by now, and Keira and Aiden have a little surprise for their partner.

Familiar leather straps, soft as butter and the loveliest ruby red Keira could find in the shop, settle ever-so snugly around her hips as she tightens them. The buckles rest cooly against her skin, just enough bite to play on the softness of the leather. It had cost her a pretty pile of crowns, more than she really ought to have spent on such a bauble while she still lived in Velen, of all shameful places.

She runs her fingers over the design stamped into the straps, geometric and perfectly placed. A lovely embellishment, and an expensive one. But Lambert had pitched in. And it just fit her so well. She rolls her hips idly, tests the feel, the weight of it.

“Gods, I knew he missed me.”

Aiden looks down on the piece-de-resistance, green eye shining with tears of all things.

Triss Merigold for character bingo

my friend's favorite, the blorbo by proxy - @essskel your girl :^)

the fandom is so mean nice smh - most people treat her so cutely without considering any of the betrayal and cowardice, it's actually funny. i mean, more than half of this crowd is games-only/netflix-only, so that's why - they don't actually know her from the books - but even so, even book fans forget her political statements to focus on her relationship with geralt... which should be discussed, but it shouldn't end at that. geralt is really a footnote in her list of treacherous acts.

*puts them in a salad spinner* - to shake off the 'water' from her, all of the teen-like smiles and giggles, to find the truth of how afraid she is...

they didn't get bullied enough - it was so satisfying when nenneke talked some sense to her in ch 8 of lotl. i wish we had more scenes like this:

‘I feel,’ repeated Triss Merigold, ‘as though I’ve been robbed.’ Nenneke didn’t answer for a long time, and looked from the terrace towards the temple garden, where the priestesses and novices were busily engaged in their springtime work. ‘You made a choice,’ she finally said. ‘You chose your way, Triss. Your own destiny. Of your own free will. Now isn’t the time for regrets.’ ‘Nenneke,’ the sorceress lowered her eyes. ‘I really can’t say anything more than what I’ve said. Believe me and forgive me.’ ‘Who am I to forgive you? And what will you get from my forgiving you?’ ‘But I can see how you’re glaring at me!’ Triss exploded. ‘You and your priestesses. I can see you asking me questions with your eyes. Like “What are you doing here, witch? Why aren’t you where Iola, Eurneid, Katje and Myrrha are? And Jarre?”’ ‘You’re exaggerating, Triss.’

not for me but i can see the appeal - interesting character, i think she's a real 'realistic' statement of those sane ones who aren't compelled to insane acts of heroism, those who are afraid (and especially, those that feel that way specifically because they are traumatized). she's a tempering force to the heroics of geralt and yennefer. i just wouldn't call myself obsessed with her

(Hozier) I think Iorveth struggles a lot with feeling like he's incapable of sitting down and being happy (and this lyric plays into how i think his relationship w Cedric went/ended), and the chorus is just very reminiscent of how alone he's always been even among his supposed peers, and also just the strength and power of his character

(Linkin Park) I think this is a bit of pointed anger at Francesca Findabair (shakes fist) for acquiescing and betraying her own kind as if that will help any elves besides the few who actually got to dol blathanna, also the "wretches and kings" is reminiscent of "king or beggar, one dh'oine less" (also listen to the speech at the beginning and end of the song. it fucks)

(My Chemical Romance) this goes w MY interpretation of him as someone who wasn't actually gradually made ready for being the face of a movement and instead having it sprung on him by his circumstance (of being the last surviving vrihedd officer), and his own conflicted feelings of nothing getting better while also refusing to give up or do anything else (also it literally says "serpent sun," nilfgaard anyone?)

(Bastille) the beginning one is I think more self explanatory, and "telling dreams from one another" i think can be applied to all the people who have "allied with" and "helped" the scoia'tael only to really be working for their own gain (like nilfgaard, or even arguably saskia)

the "felled in the night / by the ones you think you love" to ME is more about Francesca Findabair (muffled yelling) and her decision to forsake the Scoia'tael completely from Dol Blathanna

My doodle for @essskel 's AU has gotten waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy out of hand, and now has a slightly younger Roche and baby Ves. Baby Ves may be the best character I've ever added to anything. Still a WIP, so I know the colors are all still a mess, but I wanted to share it. Adding backgrounds to these because I feel like they need them, but also backgrounds eat my brain, so forgive my crunchy brain. lol Hopefully I'll finish coloring them in the next couple days!

Oh yes!! I don't know if you've played witcher 3, but he's originally from there. His name's Bart and like all the trolls he's adorable tbh

so this little bit of backstory comes from the game, and it's actually kind of funny in terms of my ability to Summon Content from nothing, because @nuricurry and I were talking about these lines a couple weeks ago and were like oh...that means dijkstra got him when he was living in zerrikania with isengrim....Isengrim and Bart content...good....then a week later the next chapter in dandelion's story had them together, LMAO. If you're interested, here's the chapter that has bart in it and also, if you haven't played w3, the scene with him. I'm glad u enjoy the concept it is top tier honestly and I'm so pleased we got at least a little scene with them in 'canon' :,)
