In cooperation with chefs Ethan Stowell and executive chef Javier Rosa from Sodexo Live!, the Seattle Mariners welcome you back to T-Mobile Park in 2022.
With hospitalizations cases falling, associated with COVID-19, the city of Seattle, in cooperation with King County and Washington state, are easing their mask and vaccine requirements for both outdoor and indoor gatherings. Course, for those of you who have been wishing for this change for weeks, months, or years, it matters not. For the rest of you, this might be the best piece of news. If you have been looking for the green light to start attending outdoor or indoor events now is the time. And with most restrictions lifted at T-Mobile Park, home to your Seattle Mariners, Major League baseball invites you back to the ballpark!
Like previous years, the Seattle Mariners continue their longstanding relationship with local restaurateur Ethan Stowell. In cooperation with Ethan Stowell, Sodexo Live! owners of Centerplate, Inc. will fulfill food and beverage staffing needs, along with supply logistics. Food vendors range from the nostalgic Kidd Valley or Edgar’s Cantina to the new like
Baseball, like so many outdoor events, has largely remained out of reach for many, in part because of the global pandemic. But in light of improvements in health and hospitalizations around the country, mandates are easing. The result is a fragile return to normalcy, and that means Major League Baseball is back at T-Mobile Park. And with the return of baseball to T-Mobile Park comes another year of optimism the Seattle Mariners will make the playoffs, possibly the World Series, and of course, food & drink at the ballpark.

This study aimed to determine if there is an association between ABO blood type and severity of COVID-19 defined by intubation or death as well as ascertain if there is variability in testing positive for COVID-19 between blood types. In a multi-institutional study, all adult patients who tested positive for COVID-19 across five hospitals were identified and included from March 6th to April 16th, 2020. Hospitalization, intubation, and death were evaluated for association with blood type. Univariate analysis was conducted using standard techniques and logistic regression was used to determine the independent effect of blood type on intubation and/or death and positive testing. During the study period, there were 7648 patients who received COVID-19 testing throughout the institutions. Of these, 1289 tested positive with a known blood type. A total of 484 (37.5%) were admitted to hospital, 123 (9.5%) were admitted to the ICU, 108 (8.4%) were intubated, 3 (0.2%) required ECMO, and 89 (6.9%) died. Of the 1289 patients who tested positive, 440 (34.2%) were blood type A, 201 (15.6%) were blood type B, 61 (4.7%) were blood type AB, and 587 (45.5%) were blood type O. On univariate analysis, there was no association between blood type and any of the peak inflammatory markers (peak WBC, p = 0.25; peak LDH, p = 0.40; peak ESR, p = 0.16; peak CRP, p = 0.14) nor between blood type and any of the clinical outcomes of severity (admission p = 0.20, ICU admission p = 0.94, intubation p = 0.93, proning while intubated p = 0.58, ECMO p = 0.09, and death p = 0.49). After multivariable analysis, blood type was not independently associated with risk of intubation or death (referent blood type A; blood type B: AOR: 0.72, 95% CI: 0.42–1.26, blood type AB: AOR: 0.78, CI: 0.33–1.87, blood type O: AOR: 0.77, CI: 0.51–1.16), rhesus factor positive (Rh+): AOR: 1.03, CI: 0.93–1.86. Blood type A had no correlation with positive testing (AOR: 1.00, CI: 0.88–1.13), blood type B was associated with higher odds of testing positive for disease (AOR: 1.28, CI: 1.08–1.52), AB was also associated with higher odds of testing positive (AOR: 1.37, CI: 1.02–1.83), and O was associated with a lower risk of testing positive (AOR: 0.84, CI: 0.75–0.95). Rh+ status was associated with higher odds of testing positive (AOR: 1.23, CI: 1.003–1.50). Blood type was not associated with risk of intubation or death in patients with COVID-19. Patients with blood types B and AB who received a test were more likely to test positive and blood type O was less likely to test positive. Rh+ patients were more likely to test positive.

With an expertise in supply chain management and modern technology, our team is equipped to handle even the most complex warehousing challenges. We understand that businesses require more than just logistics and efficient storage - they need a comprehensive warehousing partner to enable growth and prosperity. With ESR India, you can be sure of efficient and reliable service every time!
Warehousing is a wide variety of warehouses, located in different parts of the world. The main purpose of these warehouses is to store and distribute goods.Warehousing can be found in many different forms, depending on the country and region it is located in. There are several types of warehousing, including industrial, commercial, and institutional. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages.industrial warehouses are usually found in larger metropolitan areas. They are large and can accommodate a wide variety of goods.
Warehousing in India:
Warehousing is a critical part of the Indian steel and aluminum industry. The country has an aging population, which means that the demand for goods and services is high, and warehouse space is needed to meet this demand. India's large population and limited resources make it difficult to find enough warehouse space, so warehouses are often built in small towns or villages. This makes them convenient to access but also difficult to manage. With ESR India, we are respected as the best warehouse in India for our honesty and dependability.
There are a number of factors that contribute to the problems with warehouses in India. One is that they are often built on land that is not very fertile, so they need to be free from pests and diseases. Another problem is that they are often used for storage only, rather than being used as a manufacturing plant or distribution center. This means that there is little backup capacity if something goes wrong with the original products.
Types of warehousing:
Warehousing is a process of storing goods in a physical or virtual space. It encompasses all aspects of the storage and handling of goods, including but not limited to the planning, design and construction of warehouses, their management and use. Warehousing is an important part of both production and distribution chains, providing efficiencies for businesses and reducing costs. In India, warehousing companies are widespread and present in most major metropolises. They come in many shapes and sizes, with some focusing on small-scale productions or imported products while others specialize in bulk or heavy items such as minerals or petroleum. The main types of warehouses are:
Industrial - These warehouses are used for manufacturing products either outright or as installments thereof. They typically have large empty spaces inside them where the products can be stored before being manufactured or delivered to customers.
Uses for Warehousing:
ESR warehouse in India designs a distinct portfolio for investment funds that has a certain access from anywhere in the world. Warehousing is a common business practice in India. It is an efficient, cost-effective way to store goods and carry out transactions. The use of warehouses minimizes transportation costs and allows businesses to stock their products more efficiently. This also helps reduce the risk of stale or damaged products and makes it easier for customers to get what they need.
There are a number of different purposes for which warehouses can be used in India. They can be used as storage facilities, delivery points, or distribution centers. In terms of storage, warehouses can be used to hold goods such as food, toys, clothing, books, and medical supplies. In terms of delivery points, warehouses can be used to ship products to various locations around the country. When it comes to distribution centers, warehouses can be used to store a variety of products such as oil paintings and electronics.
Conclusion
Warehousing is a service that helps to store goods in an organized and efficient manner. It can be used for either export or domestic purposes. ESR India provides a comprehensive guide to understanding warehousing in India.

Clinical advancement of patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant in Shanghai, China
Preliminary report; Background Studies on the Omicron variant infection have generally been restricted to descriptions of its initial clinical and epidemiological characteristics, we investigated the timeline-related advancement in individuals with Omicron variant. Methods We conducted a retrospective, single centered study including 226 laboratory confirmed cases with Omicron variant between April 6th and May 11th, 2022 in Shanghai, China. Final date of follow-up was May 30, 2022. Results Among 226 enrolled patients, the median age was 52 years old, and 118 (52.2%) were female. The duration from onset of symptoms to hospitalization was 3 (IQR, 2-4) days for symptomatic patients. Cough occurred in 168 patients (74.3% ). The median interval to negative reverse-transcriptase PCR tests of nasopharynx swab was 10 days (interquartile range [IQR]: 8-13 days). No radiographic progressions were found in 196 patients on the 7th day after onset of symptoms. The median duration of fever in all participants was 5 days (IQR: 4-6 days). The median PCR conversion time of Paxlovid-treated patients was 8 days (IQR: 7-10 days) compared with that of Lianhuaqingwen (10 days, IQR: 8-13 days) (p=0.00056). Booster vaccination can significantly decrease the severity of Omicron infection when compared with unvaccinated, partially or fully vaccinated patients (p=0.009). The median time of PCR conversion in individuals aged under 14 recovered significantly faster than older patients (median 8 days versus 11 days, P < 0.0001). In multivariate logistic analysis, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) (OR=1.05) was independently related to the severity of the infection. Conclusions The majority clinical symptoms of Omicron infection were not severe. Early and aggressive administration of Paxlovid can significantly reduce the PCR conversion time. Booster vaccination should also be highly recommended in population over 14 years old. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.07.03.22277169v1?rss=1%22&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr Read more ↓

Executive ImpactLogistics real estate firm ESR explores diversity, renewable energy
TOKYO
While we may enjoy the fruits of consumerism—marked by an abundance of goods and, increasingly, on-demand services and delivery—we rarely give much thought to the systems and infrastructure that underpin this global social force. A key component of the logistics systems that are vital to the consumerist world is the humble warehouse. For British Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BCCJ) member ESR Ltd., warehouses are their bread and butter.
The firm is a fully integrated logistics real estate development and fund management enterprise, with operations spanning Japan, China, South Korea and Singapore. The firm owns or leases 132 properties across Asia, making it one of the largest developers and investors in this asset class.
“These glorious looking warehouses, that’s all we do—there’s nothing sexy about them”, said Stuart Gibson, co-founder and chief executive officer of ESR. “It’s not a glass building in Marunouchi or in front of Tokyo Station—they’re just giant warehouses, or distribution centres as we prefer to call them, with not many windows”.
But while they might not be glamorous, they’re significant business, as the sums in ESR’s various funds attest. Attracting investment from the likes of Morgan Stanley and various endowment funds and institutional investors, the firm’s Redwood Japan Logistics Fund 1 is now worth $1 billion, and a second fund is at the same level and will be closed once it reaches about $1.35 billion. Another for projects in South Korea currently sits at $500 million.
After financing is factored in, the firm has around $4 billion at its disposal, a figure that will continually increase. Currently, ESR has an investment pace of around $800 million each year in Japan. “I personally don’t view our type of business as a real estate business—I see it more as an infrastructure play, and logistics really is the backbone of the economy”, said Gibson.
While ESR is the product of the January 2016 merger of China’s e-Shang Cayman Ltd and the Redwood Group Asia, Pte. Ltd., Gibson’s firm, he is adamant that ESR remains a British firm, owing to its roots. Meanwhile, although the merger has expanded Redwood’s China operations, Japan remains a key focus.
“We’ve probably invested more in the past three years than any other British firm in Japan, and by that I mean some of the big iconic firms”, said Gibson. “In the past three years, we’ve probably invested about $3.2 billion in Japan”.
Labour pains
As with many firms in Japan, ESR is having to adjust to the country’s ageing demographic.“The big white elephant in the room right now is labour”, said Gibson. “There are fewer and fewer people of working age in Japan, since the death rate is 1.82, whilst the birth rate is 1.42—the maths does not lie—and all the artificial intelligence and robotics in the world isn’t going to cure that in the next 10 years.
“Five years ago, my customers, the first thing they would say to me was, ‘How much is that rent per tsubo per month?’”
But that is no longer the case.
“Before we talk about rent, before we talk about the length of the lease contract, they ask, ‘Where do I get workers? Is there a labour pool nearby?’” Gibson explained.
With levels of immigration still low, firms and policymakers have had to explore ways to make the most of the underutilised section of the labour force, namely, women. This reflects Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s womenomics agenda.
“I can’t procure workers, but I can create an environment where people want to go there”, explained Gibson. “The only untapped resource is stay-at-home mums—we need to bring these ladies back to work if we can, and the only way you can do that is if you take care of the kids”.
Since government centres are oversubscribed, the firm has chosen to make daycare facilities a standard provision at ESR warehouses that are larger than 100,000m2. In addition, the newer warehouses also have lounges and spaces that employees and members of local communities can use. This is all a part of what ESR calls “human-centric design”, and Gibson joked that in some cases the facilities look more like resorts than traditional warehouses.
These steps represent a costly undertaking for the firm. Not only does it provide and pay for the services, but the facilities eat into the bottom line by taking up valuable floor space that would otherwise be used for storage and distribution.
Meanwhile, the government is also trying to do its bit by encouraging the adoption of different work styles. Notably, that has come in the form of the Premium Friday initiative, which encourages firms to let staff leave at 3pm on the last Friday of the month. Although he does believe this to be a step in the right direction, Gibson characterises the scheme as “gimmicky”.
“I would much rather the government put increased pressure on firms to make people work a little bit less and get paid a little bit more”, he said, pointing out that many Japanese firms sit on hoards of cash.
“If they’re sitting on a bunch of profits, they really have to pass it down to their workers before it can go into the general circulation of the economy, and that’s what they really have to tackle. I just don’t think they’ve really got to grips with that right now”.
ESR has also made a push into renewable energy by installing solar panels on its warehouse roofs. This not only provides ESR with a profitable side business, but also helps Japan in terms of its energy needs.“[The development at Nanko in Osaka] gets us almost seven megawatts, which is huge”, explained Gibson. “We’ve got a separate firm called Redwood Renewables, which I think now has got a pipeline of about 20 megawatts of power that we can generate.
“I’m quite proud of these kinds of offshoot businesses that came up”, he continued. “There was a problem generating electricity and we turned it into an opportunity. And it’s also that our investors love it as well, because it’s part of your corporate social responsibility and your carbon footprint”.
Indeed, the chance to promote its contributions to tackling two of Japan’s biggest problems—labour and energy—was one of the motivations for ESR’S BCCJ membership.
“I think it could be a good stage for us, to maybe just shine a light on who we are and what we do, and maybe to just underline some of the initiatives that we’re coming up with, like bringing women into the workplace, trying to enhance the workplace environment”, said Gibson.
“If you’re just building warehouses and people pay rent, it can become a kind of dull business to be quite honest. But we like to change the perception of what people think of as a warehouse”.
